Hey PS, hope you are well. Were there any commonalities between Shyam and Arnav? Thanks for your time
Hello!
Loads!! They were basically the same character except for a few changes and the fact that Arnav had Devi Maiyya’s blessing in his pursuit of Khushi. The serial used the dichotomy between Arnav and Shyam to highlight how they were the same and how they were different :) This dichotomy painted Shyam as the ‘hero’ and Arnav as the ‘villain’ until Teej, and after that it was flipped in Arnav’s favour. My recaps go into this in detail, but briefly:
Both from Lucknow: But where Arnav hates the city and identifies as being from Delhi, Shyam loves Lucknow and uses his history to get into Bua-ji’s house.
The use of convoluted plans to get what they want: Shyam at both Sangeets, but also all the little things like arranging to have Khushi framed for theft. Arnav’s mind works in similar ways, such as buying his Chacha’s debt to gain control of Sheesh Mahal, Sheetal’s reveal. The difference is that Shyam is always unsuccessful, whereas Arnav is always successful.
Drastic changes in their lives because they met Khushi: It seems that meeting Khushi (and being affected by her innocence/purity) had a profound impact on both men. But where Shyam wanted to possess her, Arnav wanted to deny it.
The use of material gifts to appease their partner: Shyam would send Anjali necklaces and rings in an effort to make up for his absence, Arnav would buy Lavanya expensive handbags after getting angry with her.
The need to be needed: They both have this saviour complex where they need to ‘save’ or ‘help’ Khushi. For example, Shyam was always offering her money in the beginning, but she instead took a job with Arnav to earn the money she owned him (logic whomst?).
Use of violence to save Khushi: Shyam’s entry, obviously, and then the way he treated the doctor he brought to Laxmi Nagar after the guest house. After Teej, Arnav was violent with goons when they went towards Nainital and then slapped Shyam during his first reveal.
Leaving bruises on her arms: Both men do this an alarming number of times.
A sense of entitlement to her (haq): Shyam was always assuming more haq than Khushi had granted him -- taking her phone number from her biodata, asking weird questions about her and her life, calling her parents Mausa and Mausi-ji as if he was already married to her. Making her favourite foods when she was upset. Khushi was always made uncomfortable by these gestures. Arnav did almost all of these things in different settings and Khushi rarely blinked an eye.
Touching Khushi’s dupatta: I think the best example is on the day of Payal’s haldi, where Arnav and Shyam are shown touching her dupatta within ten minutes of one another and her reaction is vastly different.
Acting as damaad to her family: Another one about haq -- Shyam bought groceries for Bua-ji’s house and bought Shashi a wheelchair. Later, Arnav was shown doing the same things as her husband.
Making jalebi in Shantivan: Shyam made jalebi for the whole family after Teej, and then Arnav made them for Khushi on his own birthday.
Being marked by sindoor: Whereas Arnav was marked by sindoor on Teej as Khushi’s husband, Shyam used sindoor on a photo of Khushi to convince Bua-ji their match was ordained by the Gods.
Being jealous of NK: Particularly during the episodes where everyone was learning to dance.
Switching legal documents on Khushi: Arnav used the Nainital deal papers to convince Khushi that Aakash would divorce Payal, Shyam gave Khushi fake documents so she could get Arnav’s signature on a new will.
Gifting Khushi a bracelet before marriage: Shyam brought the much-hated bracelet for Khushi after their engagement, and Arnav was shown with a bracelet right before the remarriage that he bought for Khushi (he wasn’t shown gifting it though).
The dichotomy was set up in their introductions: We saw Shyam’s eyes first -- the windows to this soul. In contrast, Arnav was wearing sunglasses in his entry scene. At first glance this indicates that Arnav has something to hide while Shyam is exactly what he seems to be - but that’s the opposite of the truth. One of the most powerful messages of IPKKND is that first impressions aren’t always correct, and that the most destructive elements of our lives can disguise themselves as the most supportive. We saw both Arnav and Shyam from below. The camera angles show us that these men are powerful and have a great impact on Khushi’s life. They have the power to destroy her.
There are a hundred more things, I’ve just put this together quickly. I think you should read this, it gets the point across excellently (ping @dimaagkadahi). And just reiterating that the recaps are very comprehensive on this topic!!

NDA Saga~Fantastic Fifth Term
I returned after a well deserved Term break which was personally special to me for several reasons. Firstly, I got an opportunity to go to Srinagar where my father was posted recently. Therefore, I could visit many tourist attractions in the salubrious Kashmir Valley. Secondly, I could travel by NDA special from Pune to Delhi, which was an experience by itself. Thirdly, I had to travel from Delhi to Pathankot by overnight train and thereafter by an Army convoy till Srinagar. This journey was yet another memorable journey since as a 17 year old, I travelled all alone for the first time.
As we climbed yet another step on the ladder, I was delighted to be appointed as one of the three Sergeants. Consequently, we had to shoulder additional responsibilities as Captains for various competitions, conduct of various events & assist in enforcing discipline in the Campus. We were incharge of holding the muster parade. It was with a sense of pride that as a Sergeant, I recited the NDA prayer with other cadets reciting after me.
THE NDA PRAYER
O God, help us to keep ourselves physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight, that in doing our duty to Thee and to our country, we may keep the honour of the Services untarnished. Strengthen us to guard our country from external aggression and internal disorders. Awaken our admiration for honest dealing and clean thinking and guide us to choose the harder right instead of the easier wrong.
Kindle our hearts with fellowship for our comrades at arms and with loyalty to the men we command. Endow us with the courage which is born of the love of what is noble and which knows no compromise or retreat ,when truth and right are in peril. Grant us new opportunities of service to Thee, to our Country and to the Men we lead and ever help us to place such Service above Self.
The practical application of the NDA Honour Code was emphasised. Honour Code Committees were created at the Squadron & Battalion level. Cadet appointments of Fifth & Sixth Terms were members of these committees. Their main role was to investigate all minor lapses of discipline & acts of omission/commission. The Committee recommended the punishment which was finally awarded by the Squadron/ Battalion Commander.
Development of Officer Like Qualities( OLQ ) was stressed in each Term. There were a total of 15 qualities grouped under 4 factors, namely~ Planning & Organising, Social Adjustment, Social Effectiveness & Dynamism. The assessment of OLQ by systematic observation was carried out by the Divisional Officers. Regular counselling was conducted periodically in order to enable consistent improvement.
In the Fifth Term, greater weightage was given to Service subjects for Army/ Navy/ Air Force. Practical training conducted outdoors was very enjoyable. Simultaneously, Academic Sessions continued with full vigour. As usual, between successive academic periods, the entire Academy was ‘On The Move’ shuttling between Sudan Block & Science Block or vice~versa. Precise movement of Cycle Squads and Marching Squads around the Ashoka Pillar was an impressive sight indeed.
Visits to Pune on ‘Liberty’ on Sundays were always invigorating specially after the hectic routine. However, the dress code(NDA Mufti Dress)& time restrictions(8 a.m. to 8 p.m.) had to be followed. It was expected that all cadets behave in an exemplary manner especially outside the NDA Campus. Popular areas where cadets made their presence felt were~ MG Road, Laxmi Road, JM Road & FC Road. Some of the common activities were watching movies, window shopping & snacking at various Fast Food outlets. Drill Saabs kept a discreet vigil to ensure discipline at all the key locations in the city as also during travel by PMT Bus.
It was customary to celebrate all the festivals centrally. Lot of enthusiasm was displayed during the Holi & Diwali Festivals. In addition, smaller celebrations were held in the Squadron Ante- Room whenever we won any competition. The snacks & cold drinks were purchased from the Cadets Cafe. These celebrations were held only on Saturday nights which were fondly called Jam Sessions. It at least gave us a chance to wear civil dress once in a while. As the Term progressed, we realised the validity of the statement,"Nothing Succeeds like Success.”
In this Term, I chose to be a member of the Trekking Club which functioned only on Sundays since adequate time was required for the Trekking activity. By now we had gained enough experience of the Sinhagad Hike which was more of a punishment than a pleasant Trek. Our first Trek was to Rajmachi Fort, approx 70 kms from NDA which was a fabulous adventure in the monsoons. The next Trek was the Raigad Trek approx 55 kms from NDA. The aesthetically appealing Raigad Fort is a strategically constructed Fort which was the capital of the Maratha Empire. The experience of both these Treks was an unforgettable adventure in the Sahyadri Ranges. I really wished that I should have chosen the Trekking Club in the previous Terms as well.
The performance of Echo Squadron was par excellence during this Term. We secured the Third position out of 12 Squadrons in the overall championship. Personally, I continued to excel in academics as hithertofore. In addition, I bettered my performance in Cross Country race where I came in the first 20 & in Athletics where I came fifth in the 10,000 m race in the Bombay Stadium. The Squadron Social in the last week to bid farewell to 37th Course had to be special. After all, we were bidding farewell to our immediate seniors who had held our hand & acted as our elder brothers in guiding us through difficult times, right from the time we flew into the ‘Eagles Nest’.
The End Of Term functions in the Cadets Mess & the Variety Entertainment Programme in the Habibullah Hall were definitely worth remembrance. The Tattoo in the Bombay Stadium included a thrilling Motorcycle display in addition to the PT & Equestrian Display. Passing Out Parade was specially nostalgic for Echo Squadron since Academy Cadet Captain H.S.Gill from our Squadron was awarded The President’s Gold Medal at the Parade!! We bid the 37th Course adieu to the tune of Auld Lang Syne.

Explore the Historical Hampi Sightseeing
Hampi, a renowned UNESCO World Heritage Site, is located 340km away from Bangalore and 377km from Hyderabad. While taking a trip to Hampi Sightseeing, you must know a bit about the place.
History of Hampi
Hampi is an ancient village situated on the banks of river Tungabhadra in northern Karnataka. The quaint ancient village stands within the ruins of Vijayanagara, the former capital of Vijayanagara Empire and is one of the top destinations under Karnataka Tourism. The first settlement at Hampi dates back to 1st century AD, thus making the Hampi sightseeing, a very significant place in terms of history and architecture. Hampi which was the capital of Vijayanagara Empire grew as a trade centre for cotton, gemstones and spices and was one of the largest and the richest in the world during the 15th and the 16th centuries. With the death of Krishnadevaraya, the Deccan forces under Sultanate invaded and destroyed Hampi and their rampage continued for more than one year which led to the downfall of the city. The ruins in and around Hampi are spread over an area of 26 sq.km. Hampi was also an important religious centre of the Vijayanagara Empire due to the presence of the historic Virupaksha Temple along with other monuments and Jain temples, Vittala temple and the monolithic sculpture of Lord Narasimha. The popular Hampi Festival is held here for 3 days in the month of November and is organised by the Karnataka Government with dance, music, processions and drama. Hampi, the abode of bygone ruins, rusty colours and fascinating landscape with the shadowed depths of hills and valley has over 500 ancient monuments, beautiful temples, bustling street markets, bastions, treasury buildings, and other captivating ruins. This open museum is also a backpacker’s delight. Below, the top spots of the Hampi sightseeing that you must visit to explore this primordial destination are as follows: Virupaksha Temple Built during the 7th century on the banks of river Tungabhadra, Virupaksha Temple contributed to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. This small shrine with beautiful stone inscriptions is an architectural excellence and carries rich heritage. The breathtakingly beautiful temple with tall towers, gopurams, halls and corridors are embellished with ornate stonework. Along with the main deity of Lord Virupaksha, another form of Lord Shiva, there are many other sculptures depicting the mythological tales of many Gods and Goddesses. VijayaVitttala Temple One of the most impressive structures of Hampi, this temple dates back to the 16th century. The famous stone chariot which has become the icon or the symbol of Hampi architecture is located inside the premises of the temple. There are several other temples and monuments with beautiful carvings. One of the most appealing structures are the pillars which once tapped delicately will make soft musical chimes. This architectural marvel is also called “SAREGAMA” pillars. The entire temple complex covers a huge area and is an example of rich and splendid creation. Elephant Stables The elephant stables served as an enclosure for royal elephants. Even now one can see the metal hooks that were used to tie the elephants. The stable has a row of 11 chambers and the one in the centre is grander than the rest of a temple-style tower. It is adorned with marvellous work of art of frescos and carvings. Queen’s Bath This aquatic enclosure was the private Royal bathing chambers during the times of Vijayanagar Empire. The architecture will make you realize that the modern day spas and tubs are nothing compared to the lavish baths used in the past. A huge corridor runs around the deep 6 feet rectangular pool. The corridor has beautiful balconies and windows and has a big garden outside the premises. Lotus Palace Built in the Indo-Islamic style, this two-storey structure has regular geometric archways. The structure has a lotus bud curved on its dome. This place is one of the structures that remained undamaged when the city was looted. The Lotus Palace was also called “ChitraganiMahal” or the “Kamal Mahal” and were used by the royal ladies. The King’s Balance The King’s Palace, also known as “Tulapurushandana” is five metres tall and is archway curved from stone. It is believed that on Solar and Lunar Eclipse, Dussera or other ceremonial occasions, the kings were weighed against jewels, precious stones and gold which were later distributed among the temple priests. Three loops for hanging the balance can be found and you can also find the pictures of kings and queens on one of the pillars. Achyutaraya Temple This temple dedicated to Lord Venkateshwara and named after the King Achyuta Deva Raya was the last grand creation of the Vijayanagara dynasty before its fateful fall. It has two concentric rectangular enclosures with the main shrine in the inner enclosure. Although most of the temple complex is in ruins, you can still see the magnificence and the grandiosity of the structure. Hazara Ram Temple It is one of the smallest temples in the land of Hampi and is believed to be the private temple of kings, queens and royal families. The structure has a thousand Ramayana panels on the walls with characters and events chiselled on the wall. The grandeur of the temple will leave you in awe. Laxmi Narasimha Temple It was built during the times of Krishnadevaraya and is famous for its stupendous statue of God Narasimha, one of the ten forms of Lord Vishnu. The monolith idol of the God is seated on the coil of “Adishesha.”The entire idol is carved out of one huge granite boulder. The idol originally had Goddess Laxmi sitting on his lap, but the statue of Laxmi was destroyed during the raid in 1565. Today you can only see the hand of Laxmi resting on the back of Narasimha. The site is one of hauntingly beautiful sites in Hampi. Bala Krishna Temple This important temple of Hampi is also listed among the World Heritage Sites under UNESCO. It was built by King Krishnadevaraya to commemorate his victory over PrataparudaGajapati, the ruler of Udaygiri which is Orissa now. The main idol installed in the temple was of Bala Krishna and it is now preserved at the State Museum at Chennai. Bala Krishna Temple is known for its exquisite carvings and elegant architectural designs. The temple campus is adorned with many pillars and many small shrines. It is a rare temple which has epics inscribed on the tower walls. Read the full article

A short story in English for all children in 2020
A short story in English for all children in 2020
This story is written in the story presented by the story of King Vikram Singh of Nahargarh, which reveals a time of sorrow and distress. While trying to write down details of how he achieved his happiness, wealth, wealth, fame, etc. while remaining firm in the truth. I hope you like these bedtime stories in Hindi for kids with moral values. Raja Vikram Singh was a man practicing truth and religion. He lost his kingdom, Lakshmi, Yajna, Yash Kirti, etc. in the deceit of King Indra. But he did not renounce the truth, King Vikram recovered everything by following the truth and happily developed his kingdom. There is a lifelong learning secret in this story, following which a person can take his or her life to new heights. 1. The power of truth-A short story in English for all children in 2020 Once King Nahargarh Vikram Singh announced that he would sell any kind of goods from the public to set up shop to promote trade in his state. He also assured that the king would buy his belongings in the evening. King Vikram Singh was a man of religious interest and his social service was to promote not only his state but also the neighboring state. The kings of the country were also impressed and honored by his original words. After the announcement of King Vikram, the people of the state opened their shops and started selling goods. The king's honor and discussion of his plans also began in a distant land. Indra, the king of the gods, could not find this right and sat in a garbage shop to examine the king and disguise himself as a common man. No one bought his garbage from morning till evening, while the soldiers of Raj Mahal were examining the market, and they found that no one had bought the garbage of this person. The soldiers immediately reported the matter to Raja Vikram Singh. The king was firm in his promise and, as promised, bought the man's support and brought it to his palace. The next day, he was seen walking out of his palace, wearing a beautiful divine form. The king folds his hand and introduces the woman - The woman replied! I am Lakshmi, I cannot stay in the dirt, so I am leaving your palace. After saying this, the state left the Laxmi Raj Mahal. After some time, men with divine form came to leave the palace, the king folded his hands and asked his identity, and he said, "I will sacrifice, where the kingdom is Lakshmi, this is my job." So I am leaving your palace and going to the kingdom of Lakshmi. While doing so, many deities left the palace of King Vikram Singh - including Yash - Kariti Adi Dev. Finally, I saw that the king was approaching another last deity, he tied his hand and asked his identity, Dev said, "I am the truth, I am leaving your palace too." King Vikram Singh immediately fell at the foot of the truth and refused to leave the palace to leave The king said, "I have faced all my misery for the truth and you will leave me and what will happen if I leave? Who will support me When Satya Dev thought for some time and carefully understood the words of the king, he learned that all these situations were created due to his diligence in the truth. Since the king was trapped in Indra's treachery in pursuit of the truth, Satya Dev renounced the tendency to leave the palace and stayed in the palace. Seeing the truth stopped at the palace, Lakshmi, Yajna Dev, Yash - Kirti and all the gods returned to the palace. Because where there is the truth, all the gods live, except the truth, all are incomplete. The moral of this bedtime story in Hindi - That is, one should not despair even in situations of grief and crisis, but they must face them steadily and face any challenge while remaining firm on the truth. King Vikram Singh was steadfast in the truth, causing all his wealth, fame and wealth to diminish, but he remained steadfast on the truth and restored everything. Therefore, one should not forsake the truth in times of distress. 2. Turtle shell-A short story in English for all children in 2020 The turtle is a familiar creature with an armor. His armor is on his back, protecting the bones and body of the turtle's nest. The inner part of the scalp is made of bone and the upper part is like carotene from our nails. As the danger is realized, the turtle asks to turn the head to its feet. As the turtle grows larger, its armor also grows. A crab lives on the banks of rivers and seas, but it is different. If the crab is large, its opening is not large. To get rid of the old armor, he had to remove the armor, read the crab's own legs, head and eyes, so he had to fill the armor with water and slowly release himself. In this way, a new soft armor was prepared on his back. When the armor is slightly stiff it hides in the water. There is another living organism in the water, and even in the water, there is no fish. This tiny creature comes out of the egg and creates armor around it. He lives in the same armor. Due to the weight of the armor, the ship does not flow from here. The creature was born with its armor, snails. There is an armor when the eggs come out but this armor is too soft. The egg will release the snail to tighten it Read the full article
