The Girl From Gridania - Part 4
Part 4 of Iris’s origin story, where she meets up with someone she rather not Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Word Count: 1202
Gritrot Lienois was a man that seemed to prim and proper. His light brown hair was always slicked back, without a strand out of place. His eyes was crisp green color that could pierce through your soul is he stared at you long enough. He always stood with his shoulders back and his back straight making him look taller than your average Elezen. It suited him well as a lieutenant in the God Quiver.
The man has ambitions beyond those that work for the God Quiver. That Iris knew and was very much the victim of it. He spoked with honey words if it would get him what he wanted. He was the kind of man that made Iris thank the twelve that Gridania followed the laws made by the Elementals. If they were in Ul’dah, she have a feeling that he would bribe a few merchants or be willing to commit some murders to get ahead.
Iris disliked that the patrolling God Quiver troop found her near the Guardian Tree. Less so that it was his group that found her. Now she was stuck in a room with a man that she down right detested.
“Now, Ms. Opranta, why were you at the Guardian Tree?” He sweetly asked her again. She could sense that he was getting aggravated as he asked her this question the umpteenth time.
“And as I’ve said, there was a man in a black cloak teleported me there. I did nothing that you seemed set to accuse me of.” Iris said with a sigh of exasperation “As far as to why the elementals are angry, there where Ixali planning to summon Garuda there. You were lucky that me and those adventurers were there to make them flee the place.”
Gritrot wasn’t buying it. “How do you explain the reports from the Padjal that the elementals were going in a frenzy what was going there?”
“I swear it was the Ixali. I barely did anything that would upset them.”
He could only sigh “You were the only one there so it must have been you that was causing it. You know what will happen to you if you did anger the elementals.”
Iris was taking aback a bit. She knew that they wouldn’t take too kindly for bothering them. And if they weren’t too pleased neither were the brass tacks for those who make sure that the Gridanian lifestyle were protect. Anyone found doing something they disliked the best case would to be outcasted. However, the elementals would think this crime would deserve a more severe punishment. For her, she feared that she might be staring at another death. Not only her own but her family’s death as well.
“I’ll ask one more time you useless girl, why were you at the Guardian Tree?” Gritrot spat out once again, this with more venom in his words.
“Useless? You are seriously call me useless?” She stood up from her chair that she was sitting, out of anger. “Just because “dating me” didn’t get you the results you were looking for doesn’t make me useless. It doesn’t make me useless that it backfired on you after I found you with another woman after my condition started to appear five years ago. Or that my brother damn well saw what you wanted from him once he figured out why you wanted date me in the first place.”
Gritrot couldn’t contain himself after those words were said. He wanted to strike her right then and there. He balled up his fist to hold back his anger. A knock wrapped on the door. He calmed himself down and composed himself to make himself looked his normal self. “Enter.” He called out to the door while keeping his eye on Iris.
The door open, and came in Ephault, a current captain of the God Quiver Lions, Gritrot’s superior, and least of all Iris’ brother. As her walked into the room Gritrot saluted his superior. “Lieutenant Lienois, stand down, I’ll take it from here.” Ephault spoke with authority as he gave this command to his lieutenant.
“But sir, she was found by the tree where the elementals….”
“Are you choosing to ignore an order, lieutenant?” Gritrot shook his head and headed out of the room.
“Of course your brother comes to save you from this situation.” He muttered to himself before closing the door.
“Ephault, I’m sorry. I can explain” Iris was panicking that he disliked that his sister was not only out so late at night when he asked her to go home to rest. Let alone found her near the Guardian Tree when the Ixali were.
“Iris, don’t worry about it. Those adventurers you were hunting down told us what happened. The upper brass doesn’t think that you did anything that the elementals would fault you for. And Plus there is someone that wishes to speak with you.” The door opened again. This time two people came through, Bowlord Lewin and Kan-e-Senna. Iris was confused as to why these two would want a word with her. Her bewilderment was shown on her face as the two walked closer to her.
They stopped and faced Iris. Kan-e-Senna then cleared her throat. “Iris was it? My name is Kan-e-Senna.” Iris nodded at Kan-e’s clam words. She continued on “I’ve heard of your harrowing adventure that happened. Both from man and from elemental. I want you to be the Emissary for the Greenbliss that is going to happen in a few days time.”
Iris was dumbstruck. “Come again? I didn’t do anything that deserves that recognition. I was there rather I wanted to or not.”
Kan-e-Senna shook her head. “That’s not what I’ve heard from Bowlord Lewin. He heard the story from those adventurers that were looking into what was going on with the aether in the shroud. They said that you fended against the Ixali’s attempt to summon Garuda.” Kan-e-Senna got up and gently holds her hand. “Your dedication to the people of Gridania rouses fond memories in me, and I would choose no other for the role.”
Iris could only gaze on to the Elder Seedseer. It would be a great honor for her to serve as an important role in Gridanian society. She thought it over for a moment. Though a bit hesitate she chimed “I’ll do it.”
“Great, the Bowlord will tell you more on what you need to know about the ceremony.” The seedseer pleased that Iris said yes started to head out of the room. “I’ll see you when the day comes. I’ll take my leave for now.”
With the Elder Seedseer out of the room, the Bowlord looked onto Ephualt to signal for him to leave. Taking the cue, he headed out the door. Lewin looked back at Iris. He informed her of what her role is. Simply she needed to wear a mask and stand right next to the Elder Seedseer. She thought it was easy enough and thanked the Bowlord for explaining all that to her. All she had left to do was wait until master Beatin making the mask and do the ceremony. She made her leave and return home to rest from her long day.

8. What was your OC's most embarrassing moment? Does it still bother them or are they able to shrug it off?
Hiiii, thank you for the ask, dreadwyrmz! This one gave me pause for a moment, because while I'm sure I've written some embarrassing moments for Nomin, none of them jumped out at me right away...
TT o TT But! I have one now! :D
Get to Know the OC Asks
So...the whole dinner with Aymeric after the fall of Nidhogg, actually, was pretty embarrassing for Nomin. Like, despite her earlier disdain at the time for Estinien, the whole dinner felt really out of place for her -- even inappropriate in some capacity.
Nomin really disliked the feeling of the dinner. She disliked dressing up (at Tataru's insistence in at least looking presentable). Like, she can agree that there certainly was reason to celebrate, but the fact that Alphinaud often stationed himself at Estinien's bedside, hoping that he didn't lose him too just made Nomin really uncomfortable at the dinner. She felt awkward that it was only her that was invited to the dinner.
All of this culminated to her giving some awkward chuckles and just those kind of eye rolls that indicate that she was really fighting to try to enjoy even being there. I'm sure she also made some really...questionable comments or brought up some weird topics all because she wanted to be literally anywhere else. Probably, at one point, I'm sure she cut into the steak a bit too forcefully and probably cracked the plate.
She was there to be polite. Because it seemed expected of her.
Like, getting news that interrupted that dinner was the most relieving thing until Nomin learned it was in regards to Alphinaud's sister arriving in a sorry state. Which, like, Nomin felt even worse about that the interruption relieved her because she was finally free of being in that largely empty dining hall with someone that she actually doesn't really like that much after giving her an ultimatum she didn't agree with to even have sanctuary in Ishgard.
Nomin is still very much not that fond of Aymeric because being stuck in a dilemma like that was not ideal for her; her time being kidnapped with the Jhungid was something she equated the sanctuary in Ishgard to. Especially since Aymeric did not budge on helping Alphinaud in the plight against Ixal and the summoning of Garuda because it was Gridania's problem, not Ishgard's. She doesn't really care that his hands were tied, because Nomin is very much someone who will break the rules if it benefits her and those she cares about.
It also doesn't help that, at the time, he still asked for help to contend with Iceheart and the "heretics" -- of who Nomin was accused of being several times over by Coerthan natives! Being an Au Ra in that social climate was tough!
Essentially, she saw Aymeric's "help" as thus: "oh, sorry that you're wanted by all of Eorzea that isn't Ishgard. That sucks. Wow... So anyway, if you help us with our problems, you can have sanctuary. Otherwise...well, I guess the Brass Blades can have you. Sucks that we still wouldn't have helped you with your little primal problem, either. Wow, I sure did ask a lot of you, and now I'm asking more of you. Pity that you have nowhere else to turn."
So having all of that kind of swept under the rug with no real acknowledgement nor apology for it after the fall of Thordan and Nidhogg, Nomin's really not too fond of Aymeric to have enjoyed that dinner whatsoever. All that said, though, you can probably definitely say that it bothers her in some capacity. Until she gets an apology, it'll bother her.
#questions and answers#user: dreadwyrmz#thank you ♥#ffxiv#ffxiv oc#oc: nomin tal kheeriin#aymeric de borel#<- including a tag for him because he's really heavily talked about#and it'll help me keep my blog organized if i want to look back on this for when i get to my fic writing when he's present#i actually like aymeric personally#but nomin really /really/ does not

Brass Beauties: Exploring the Art and Craft of Iconic Statues
Introduction
Brass statues are more than just decorative items; they are works of art that reflect cultural traditions, spiritual beliefs, and the skilled craftsmanship of artisans. From grand statues of deities in temples to elegant figures gracing modern interiors, brass sculptures captivate with their luminous beauty and intricate detailing. In this blog, we take a closer look at the art and craft behind iconic brass statues, exploring their creation process, artistic elements, and the enduring fascination they hold.
The Art of Brass Sculpture
Brass sculpture is a meticulous art form that has evolved over centuries. The process of crafting a brass statue involves both traditional techniques passed down through generations and innovations that allow for greater artistic expression. Each statue tells a story, not just through its form and design but also through the skilled hands that shape it.
The Creation Process
Design and Inspiration: The journey of a brass statue begins with a concept or inspiration, often rooted in religious or cultural symbolism. Artisans sketch their ideas and refine the design before moving on to the sculpting phase.
Lost-Wax Casting Technique: One of the most common methods used in making brass statues is the lost-wax casting technique, a process that dates back thousands of years. In this technique, a wax model of the statue is created and covered with a clay mold. When the mold is heated, the wax melts away, leaving a hollow space that is then filled with molten brass. Once the brass cools and solidifies, the outer mold is broken away, revealing the raw statue.
Finishing Touches: After casting, the statue undergoes extensive finishing work. Artisans carefully remove any imperfections, polish the surface, and add fine details such as facial features, clothing patterns, or ornamental designs. These finishing touches bring the statue to life, highlighting the artisan’s skill and attention to detail.
Patination and Decoration: To enhance the statue’s appearance, artisans may apply various patinas, creating a range of colors and textures on the brass surface. Some statues are further embellished with inlays, engravings, or even semi-precious stones, adding to their visual appeal and value.
Iconic Themes and Motifs
Brass statues often depict themes that are deeply rooted in religious and cultural traditions. Some of the most iconic representations include:
Deities and Saints: Statues of gods, goddesses, and saints are among the most popular themes in brass sculpture. These figures are revered not only for their divine associations but also for their symbolic meanings. For example, statues of Lord Shiva in his Nataraja form capture the cosmic dance of creation and destruction, while statues of the Buddha represent peace, enlightenment, and compassion.
Animals and Mythical Creatures: Brass statues also frequently depict animals and mythical creatures, each carrying its own symbolism. Elephants, lions, and peacocks are common motifs, representing strength, royalty, and beauty, respectively. Mythical beings like Garuda, Naga, and dragons are also popular, embodying power, protection, and mysticism.
Human Figures: From dancers and musicians to warriors and ascetics, human figures in brass sculpture capture a wide range of expressions and narratives. These statues celebrate the diversity of human experiences, often highlighting cultural heritage, daily life, or historical events.
The Modern Appeal
Despite their ancient origins, brass statues continue to resonate with modern audiences. They are appreciated not only for their aesthetic qualities but also for the stories and meanings they convey. In contemporary settings, brass statues serve as statement pieces, adding a touch of elegance and tradition to homes, offices, and public spaces.
Collectors and art enthusiasts are drawn to the unique charm of brass statues, often seeking pieces that reflect personal beliefs, cultural interests, or simply the beauty of the craftsmanship. The versatility of brass allows for a wide range of styles, from traditional to modern, making these statues a perfect fit for various decor themes.
Conclusion
Brass statues are more than just ornamental objects; they are embodiments of art, culture, and spirituality. The craftsmanship involved in creating these statues is a testament to human creativity and dedication, resulting in pieces that are not only visually stunning but also rich in meaning and history. As we continue to appreciate and explore the art of brass sculpture, these brass beauties will undoubtedly remain cherished symbols of artistic heritage and timeless elegance.

The Garuda Wisnu statue is set to become second tallest statue in the world.
Upon its inauguration, Garuda Wisnu Kencana became the tallest statue in Indonesia and the tallest statue of a Hindu god in the world. And if you include the huge base on which the statue stands, its total height of 397 feet (121 meters) ranks it as the fourth tallest statue in the world.
The statue alone is 246 feet (75 meters) tall, almost 100 feet taller than the Statue of Liberty. It represents Vishnu, one of the main deities of Hinduism, riding on the back of his faithful mount Garuda, a bird-like creature who promised to serve Vishnu after the god freed Garuda’s mother from slavery.
The entire structure was built from 754 modules, pieced together to form a gargantuan statue weighing more than 3,000 tons, with a steel frame covered in a copper and brass skin. On top of Vishnu’s head sits a 3.5-ton crown covered with gold-plated mosaics.
And apart from its impressive height, the statue is also remarkably wide compared to more standard up-down sculpted figures. Garuda has a wingspan of 210 feet (64 meters), which might well make Garuda Wisnu Kencana the largest statue in the world in terms of sheer bulk.

Fact about Vishnu-The Versatile and his role in Hinduism
Many scholars believed that Hinduism started back in history between 2300 BCE to 1500 BCE. But still no exact date is found. Hinduism has no founder as per the research. It is a diverse religion which has beliefs, traditions and cultures of the Indian region. It is believed to be the oldest religion on Earth. Its origin and development ranges from pre-Vedic period to contemporary times. Hinduism is believed to be set on the shoulders of the trinity of gods. Hinduism has four major sects, Shaivism, Vaishnavism, Shaktism and Samaritans. Vaishnavism is the predominant sect prevalent majorly all over India and abroad. Under this, devotees and followers of Vishnu learn and follow the path shown by Vishnu in different incarnations like Krishna and Rama.
This trimurate of God has Brahma as creator, Vishnu as preserver and Shiva as destroyer. Vishnu is also known to people as Hari and Narayan.
Appearance and its significance
Lord Vishnu has blue colored skin which depicts the vastness of sky. He is a four-armed god who has four things: sudarshan chakra (discuss), gada (mace), shankha (conch) and lotus. Shankha stands for five elements: the sound of AUM, salagram, goddess Lakshmi, purity, waters and perfection. Chakra stands for protection and vanishing all the evils. Gada represents the power of knowledge. And lastly, the lotus stands for purity, beauty, harmony and self realisation.
Vishnu idols and pictures depict different poses and moods. These idols come in a variety of materials and designs like bronze, brass, copper, wooden and marble. One can easily order them online with great ease. One can spot Vishnu idols and images in standing and sleeping pose. For a unique Vishnu idol, you can also visit our website
In the standing pose, he is seen as a four-armed god standing on a lotus. Vishnu is seen in a sitting pose where he has Garuda as his vehicle( vahan). Garuda is a giant Eagle. While in resting position he is lying down on coils of a giant serpent, Adishesha with thousands of heads. Goddess lakshmi sits beside her. The image is seen with the ocean in milky colour. This shows vaikunth (paradise of lord Vishnu). Oceans represents bliss and consciousness while the serpent stands for desires, time and illusion. It is said in holy text that when Vishnu was in deep sleep (yog nidra) and when he woke up he got a stir in his belly button, out of which a lotus flower bloomed. This flower was the place where lord Brahma sat.
It is believed that Vishnu has the 10 avatars(incarnation) as per the requirement of time and universe. All of his incarnations have taught the world a lesson of wisdom, knowledge, chastity, chivalry, rightfulness, strength, will to win the right over wrong and conquering the world with only and only truth and right values in mind. Every time mankind faced a threat from demons, Vishnu came to Earth with a new incarnation to kill the demon.
He has then 24 avatars on Earth but mainly 10 incarnations are most popular and talked about.
His first avatar was matsya avatar(fish) where he saved the world and four vedas from the flood.
His second incarnation was Kurma(turtle) who helped the world by supporting it on its back.
His third incarnation was of Varah (Boar) who saved Earth from flooding water and took it on its tusks.
His fifth incarnation was of Narsimha (half lion and half man) to kill the demon.
His sixth incarnation was Vaman (dwarf saviour) who saved the universe in only three steps.
The seventh incarnation of Vishnu was of Parshurama, who destroyed the warrior caste of society.
His eighth incarnation was Rama, hero of Ramayana who taught the world victory of good over evil.
His ninth incarnation was Krishna, mischievous god and revered deity of Bhagwad Gita.
His tenth awatar is Kalki who is yet to be born on Earth to perish all bad under his foot.
