He made it, y’all. His parents, Bruce & Esther had their fingers crossed most of the time, but we’re here.
Although he originally wanted to be a sports journalist (if you’ve been following along, you know why… but let’s not bring her up right now), but thanks to his professor, he decided to go down the novelist path, while working for a digital paper in the meantime.
Now that he’s about to be a father, this suits him just fine. It will give him time to bring in a steady paycheck while working on his first book. Lucky for him, there are plenty of writers in the family to help guide him through the process. And Bubbe Ida and his sisters Shalom & Noa pie, of course.

DND AU: families!
- Blue is a child of divorce and lives with his mom, a criminal defense lawyer, in a townhouse (basically a big apartment). His next door neighbor is Erune, and he was babysat by her granny often, so they’re pretty close.
- Red and Vio’s parents are somewhat distant from their kids and really into their job of being dentists. They live in a relatively nice, big house, and Red has a cat named Miss Fairy, a white longhair.
- Green moved from the big city recently once his dads (he has two) decided to retire from police work when dad #1 was left severely injured. They have a service dog, a golden retriever named Captain. Green and the twins are next door neighbors.
- Shadow and Zelda were adopted by a nice Sheikah couple. Their mom is stay-at-home, and their dad is a software developer. They live in a nearby neighborhood in a smaller house.
- the entire DND gang lives in Hateno currently. Blue was born in Lurelin but doesn’t remember much, Red and Vio are Labrynnian immigrants, and Shadow’s parents lived in Kakariko before moving to Hateno shortly before adopting him and Zelda. Green lived in Castle City most of his life and only recently got settled in Hateno.

Matt Gertz at MMFA:
Maria Bartiromo repeatedly used her Fox Business show to peddle an election fraud conspiracy theory that she claimed originated with the wife of a friend of a friend in Texas and that she made no apparent effort to confirm. But when the Texas Department of Public Safety and the local Republican Party investigated her reckless allegation, they discovered that none of it was true. On Sunday morning, Bartiromo posted an item to X alleging that “a massive line of immigrants” had been obtaining driver’s licenses and registering to vote at three Department of Motor Vehicles offices in Texas:
[From a friend ... Friend of mine’s wife had to take her 16 yr old son to the DMV this week for a new license. Couldn’t get an online appointment(all full) so went in person and had to go to 3 DMV’s to get something done. First DMV was in Weatherford. Had a massive line of immigrants getting licenses and had a tent and table outside the front door of the DMV registering them to vote! Second one was in Fort Worth with same lines and same Dems out front. Third one was in North Fort Worth had no lines but had same voter registration drive.]
Bartiromo brought the wildly flimsy allegation to Fox’s airwaves the following day, having apparently done no independent reporting to confirm claims that she said originated with the wife of a friend of her friend.  She brought up the story in at least three segments on the Monday and Tuesday editions of her Fox program — including in interviews with two Republican U.S. senators.
[...]
Bartiromo’s history of promoting absurd election conspiracy theories
Bartiromo’s ludicrously thin claims of Democrats trying to register undocumented immigrants to vote in the 2024 presidential election fit neatly within her recent career. Bartiromo promoted a series of wild claims about election fraud following the 2020 election. Her deeds included hosting Trumpist lawyer Sidney Powell to baselessly allege that Dominion Voting Systems had rigged the vote against Donald Trump. She brought Powell on after Powell forwarded her an email from a woman who claimed that Dominion’s software flipped votes from Trump to Joe Biden — and also that “the Wind tells me I’m a ghost, but I don’t believe it.” Her Dominion segments were featured in the company’s defamation lawsuit against Fox, which resulted in her network paying a record settlement. But they had no apparent impact on her standing at Fox: She retains a weekly Fox News show and a three-hour weekday show on Fox Business, giving her platforms where she can ask U.S. senators about unverified thirdhand claims. That leaves her well-positioned to help Trump if he once again tries to subvert a presidential election.
FBN host Maria Bartiromo in hot water for spreading batcray conspiracies.

US H-1B Visa Denial
Tumblr media
The US H-1B Visa Denial program is essential for bringing skilled professionals—particularly those from India—to work in the United States. Designed to help U.S. companies fill specialized roles, the H-1B visa allows companies to hire international experts in high-demand fields like technology, engineering, healthcare, and finance.
Indian professionals make up nearly 70% of all US H-1B Visa Denial, bringing in-demand skills to the U.S. tech, engineering, and management sectors. For these individuals, the H-1B visa is more than just a job opportunity—it’s a gateway to career advancement and, potentially, long-term residency. Their contributions are particularly critical in technology fields, such as software development, artificial intelligence, and data science, driving U.S. innovation and economic growth.
The U.S. tech industry, worth an estimated $1.8 trillion, relies on skilled professionals, including many from India, to maintain its global edge. Indian H-1B workers contribute heavily to this success and their expertise benefits industries.
In recent years, H-1B visa denial rates have surged, with Indian applicants facing some of the highest refusal rates. At one point, denial rates hit 30%, driven by policy changes, stricter definitions of “specialty occupation,” and a closer examination of the employer-employee relationship. These challenges have added uncertainty for Indian applicants and the U.S. companies that rely on their skills, making the H-1B process increasingly complex and competitive.
Common Reasons for H-1B Visa Denial
When applying for an H-1B visa, understanding why applications get denied can make all the difference. Here are some of the most common reasons for H-1B visa denials:
1. Specialty Occupation Requirement
●       What is a “Specialty Occupation”? According to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), a “specialty occupation” requires specialized knowledge and at least a bachelor’s degree in a related field. Fields like IT, engineering, and healthcare typically qualify, as they demand advanced knowledge and training.
●       Why Some Roles Fall Short Not all roles meet this requirement. For example, positions that are too generalized or don’t require a specific degree may be denied. USCIS may question the “specialty” aspect if the job description lacks specific technical or academic demands.
2. Employer-Employee Relationship Issues
●       USCIS Standards for a Valid Relationship The USCIS requires clear proof of an employer-employee relationship, meaning the employer must control the employee’s work assignments, duties, and schedules. This becomes especially crucial when the applicant works at a third-party client site.
●       Common Complications Remote work arrangements, third-party contracts, or indirect supervision roles can raise concerns. The application may be denied if the employer cannot demonstrate a clear line of authority.
3. Educational Qualifications and Job Fit
●       Impact of Education on Approval Chances USCIS assesses whether the applicant’s educational background aligns with the job role. For example, a data science job usually requires a computer science or statistics degree.
●       Mismatch Between Education and Job If an applicant’s education or experience doesn’t match the job description, USCIS may deny the application. This can happen when an applicant’s degree is unrelated to the job or if their qualifications don’t align with the specific demands of the position.
4. Documentation and Evidence Gaps
●       Importance of Strong Documentation Clear documentation is essential in proving the validity of the job offer, role requirements, and the applicant’s qualifications. Incomplete or vague documentation is a frequent reason for denial.
●       Common Gaps in Documentation Missing details in job descriptions, insufficient project specifics, or lack of support for specialized skills can weaken an application. Providing thorough documentation helps USCIS understand and verify the need for the H1B worker in the specified role.
Implications of H1B Denial for Indian Applicants
An H-1B visa denial can have far-reaching consequences, especially for Indian applicants, who account for a significant portion of the H-1B applicant pool.
1. Impact on Career and Employment Prospects
Effects on Current Employment For applicants already employed in the U.S. or with job offers in hand, an H-1B denial can abruptly end their employment plans, often leading to the immediate search for alternative visa solutions or the loss of employment opportunities in the U.S.
Future Career Opportunities Many Indian professionals view the US H-1B Visa Denial as a stepping stone for long-term career development and, ultimately, permanent residency in the U.S. A denial can disrupt these plans, impacting career progression and professional aspirations, especially in sectors like tech, finance, and healthcare, where U.S. experience is highly valued.
2. Financial and Personal Impacts
Costly Process for Applicants and Sponsors Applying for an H-1B visa involves significant expenses, covering legal fees, application costs, and sometimes relocation expenses. For both the sponsoring employer and the applicant, a denial means financial losses without the intended outcome.
Emotional and Family Challenges The H-1B application process is often lengthy and complex, creating stress for applicants and their families. For those with families in the U.S., a denial may require making difficult decisions about relocation, schooling, and the well-being of family members.
3. Alternatives to H-1B Visa after Denial
Alternative Visa Options While an H-1B denial is disappointing, other visa options may allow qualified professionals to work in the U.S. Some alternatives include:
L1 Visa: Employees transferring within the same company from an international office.
O1 Visa: For individuals with exceptional abilities in their field.
EB2 and EB3 Visas: These are employment-based immigrant visas for skilled professionals, though these options may have longer waiting periods.
How to Reduce H-1B Denial Risks
Preparing a strong H-1B application is essential for reducing the risk of denial, especially given the high scrutiny placed on Indian applicants. Here are steps to help ensure a smoother application process:
1. Improving Documentation and Evidence
Strengthening Job Descriptions and Contracts A detailed job description outlining specific duties and required skills can significantly impact the hiring decision. Ensure that it clearly describes the specialized nature of the position and why it requires a unique skill set. Contracts should explicitly state the employer-employee relationship, emphasizing supervision, control, and day-to-day oversight.
Employer-Employee Relationship Evidence Applicants working offsite or at third-party locations should provide evidence demonstrating the employer’s direct oversight, such as work schedules, reporting structures, or project management documentation.
2. Ensuring Clear Job-Qualification Alignment
Meeting Specialty Occupation Requirements To meet USCIS’s “specialty occupation” criteria, ensure the job requires a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a specific field relevant to the position. Employers should avoid vague descriptions and ensure the role is presented as specialized and demanding specific qualifications.
Verifying Educational Alignment Applicants should confirm that their academic and professional background aligns closely with the job role. Employers may also consider requiring relevant certifications or additional training if there’s a potential mismatch.
3. Seeking Professional Legal Guidance
Benefits of Consulting Experienced Immigration Attorneys Navigating the H-1B process can be complex, and changes in policy or application criteria can make approvals unpredictable. Consulting an experienced immigration attorney can help applicants and sponsors build a well-supported case, address potential issues proactively, and handle any unexpected challenges.
Minimizing Risks with Legal Insight Immigration attorneys can offer strategic advice on the best way to present the application, ensure compliance with the latest regulations, and provide guidance on specific documentation or evidence that may strengthen the case.
Options After H-1B Denial
An H-1B visa denial can feel like a major setback, but several options are available for applicants seeking alternative pathways. Here’s a look at what candidates can do following a denial:
1. Refiling and Appealing the Decision
Re-filing the Application If the denial was based on documentation or minor issues, applicants may choose to refile with corrected or additional evidence. Refiling allows candidates to address the specific concerns raised in the initial denial and strengthen their application.
Appealing the Decision An appeal may be an option for more complex cases, though it requires meeting specific criteria and proving that the denial was based on an error in applying the law. Appeals can be lengthy and complex, so it’s essential to assess the likelihood of success with an immigration attorney before proceeding.
Considerations for Re-filing or Appeal Before deciding to refile or appeal, applicants should carefully review the reasons for denial, ideally with the guidance of legal counsel. Some denials may be easier to overcome through re-filing, while others might benefit from an appeal if there’s a strong case for reconsideration.
2. Alternative Visa Options
Other Work Visa Options While the H-1B is popular, several other visa types may fit Indian professionals’ needs:
L1 Visa: The L1 is an option for employees transferring within a company with branches in the U.S. and abroad that does not require the H-1B cap.
O1 Visa: This visa is for individuals with extraordinary abilities or achievements, particularly in tech, science, or the arts.
EB2/EB3 Visas: Employment-based green cards for professionals with advanced degrees (EB2) or those in skilled positions (EB3) may offer a longer-term solution, though they involve different processes and requirements.
Exploring the Feasibility of These Options Applicants should evaluate which visa options align with their qualifications and job offers and consult their employer and legal counsel to determine the best action.
Final Word
The H-1B visa process can be challenging, especially given the common causes for denial, such as unmet specialty occupation requirements, documentation gaps, or issues with educational alignment. These denials have real implications for applicants’ career prospects, financial commitments, and family stability, especially for those coming from India.
Preparing a thorough and well-documented application is crucial to avoid these pitfalls. Gehis Immigration and International Legal Services is dedicated to helping professionals overcome these challenges by offering guidance on the unique requirements of the H-1B process. Whether you’re strengthening documentation, exploring alternative visas, or considering an appeal, the team at Gehis is equipped to help you confidently at each step.
By seeking professional support and exploring all available options, applicants can better position themselves for success in their journey toward achieving their professional and personal goals in the United States.

TEXAS HOUSE Newbies to fill 9 area seats
ELECTIONS ’24
Four candidates, two from each party, are running unopposed
Thanks to a wave of retirements and primary election defeats, nine North Texas seats in the state House will be filled by newcomers after the Nov. 5 election.
Four candidates are running unopposed.
The local races without a House incumbent are:
DISTRICT 33
Katrina Pierson, Republican:
Pierson is running unopposed and will be the next lawmaker for a district that includes all of Rockwall County and a portion of Collin County.
Tumblr media
Pierson defeated Rep. Justin Holland, R-Rockwall, in the May 28 primary runoff election, 56% to 44%.
A former national spokesperson for former President Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, Pierson ran as a candidate who would reform the Texas House and opposes Democrats serving as chairs of legislative committees.
Tumblr media
She supports Rep. David Cook, R-Mansfield to replace Dade Phelan, R-Beaumont, as House speaker.
DISTRICT 61
Tumblr media
Tony Adams, Democrat:
Adams, a small-business owner in Collin County, is running on unifying and working collaboratively with Republican lawmakers.
Adams opposes sending public tax dollars to private schools and wants stronger gun laws in Texas.
He also opposes Texas’ near-total ban on abortion.
Adams faces an uphill battle in a solidly Republican district that includes parts of McKinney and Frisco.
Tumblr media
Keresa Richardson, Republican: Richardson, CEO of the Lawton Group, defeated Rep. Frederick Frazier, R-McKinney, in the May primary runoff 68% to 32%.
Tumblr media
Richardson challenged Frazier’s conservative credentials and received Ken Paxton’s support after Frazier voted to impeach the attorney general.
Richardson said working with Democratic lawmakers gave the minority party too much influence and watered down Republican priorities.
She supports creating a school voucher program and a Texas Border Unit to enforce immigration laws, and she said she believes the state constitution should be amended to require proof of citizenship before an individual can register to vote.
DISTRICT 64
Tumblr media
Angela Brewer, Democrat: Brewer, an adjunct professor at the University of North Texas, ran an unsuccessful campaign against Rep. Lynn Stucky, R-Denton, in 2020, losing by 10 points.
Tumblr media
Brewer told KERA News that Gov. Greg Abbott’s push to allow school vouchers was one of her big motivations to run and said she is “100% committed against” school choice.
Her other key legislative issue is protecting abortion access, promising to file a bill repealing the state’s abortion ban.
Andy Hopper, Republican:
Tumblr media
Hopper, an engineer and chief warrant officer for the Texas State Guard, defeated Stucky in the May primary runoff by 12 points, receiving the support of Paxton.
He signed the “Contract with Texas,” a pledge to support conservative priorities, including a ban on Democratic committee chairs and term limits for House speaker.
He supports school choice and believes the Legislature should make it a crime to travel out of state for an abortion.
DISTRICT 65
Tumblr media
Detrick DeBurr, Democrat:
DeBurr, a software engineer and planning and zoning commissioner for The Colony, said he is running because he believes the district, which cuts east to west across Denton County, has seen tremendous growth and by serving as commissioner, he understands what priorities are needed.
DeBurr describes himself as “very conservative, yet thoughtful and compassionate.”
His legislative priorities include increasing public school funding and expanding Medicaid in Texas.
Mitch Little, Republican:
Tumblr media
Little was an impeachment lawyer for Paxton during last year’s Senate trial.
Tumblr media
He defeated Rep. Kronda Thimesch, R-Lewisville, in the March primary. His campaign priorities include election integrity, reducing property taxes, securing the U.S.-Mexico border and reforming the House, saying change is needed to advance conservative priorities.
DISTRICT 91
David Lowe, Republican:
Tumblr media
Lowe is running unopposed after defeating Rep. Stephanie Klick, R-Fort Worth,
Tumblr media
in the May 28 runoff, despite Klick having Abbott’s backing and serving as chair of the Public Health Committee.
Lowe, an Army veteran, criticized Klick from the right, including her vote to impeach Paxton.
Lowe was endorsed by Paxton and supports eliminating property taxes, opposes red flag gun safety laws and wants to eliminate in-state college tuition for undocumented migrants.
DISTRICT 97
Carlos Walker, Democrat:
Tumblr media
Walker, director of Fort Worth ISD’s Family Action Center, lists four priorities on his campaign website: public education, property tax relief, women’s rights and support for farmers.
The Republican-leaning district includes western Tarrant County.
John McQueeney, Republican:
Tumblr media
McQueeney, the CEO of Vision Companies, lists his priorities as border security, increasing school funding, passing school choice, helping foster business growth and protecting the First Amendment.
The district is currently represented by Rep. Craig Goldman, R-Fort Worth, who is running for Congress.
Tumblr media
DISTRICT 107
Linda Garcia, Democrat:
Tumblr media
Garcia, an entrepreneur and financial literacy educator, is running unopposed to replace Rep. Victoria Neave Criado, D-Dallas,
Tumblr media
who challenged Dallas Sen. Nathan Johnson in the Democratic primary but lost.
Tumblr media
Garcia wants to expand Medicaid, invest more in infrastructure and affordable housing, restore reproductive rights and increase funding for public schools.
DISTRICT 109
Tumblr media
Aicha Davis, Democrat:
Davis is running unopposed to replace Rep. Carl Sherman, D-DeSoto, who was defeated in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate. Davis is a six-year member of the State Board of Education. She opposes universal school vouchers, believes teachers should get a pay raise and does not support legislative efforts to restrict access to books deemed inappropriate for children.
DISTRICT 115
Cassandra Hernandez, Democrat: Hernandez is seeking to replace Rep. Julie Johnson, D-Farmers Branch, who is running for Congress. Hernandez, an attorney, lists gun violence reform as a key issue. Her campaign website says she lost her father to gun violence. Her other priorities include expanding Medicaid, cutting property taxes and addressing the fentanyl crisis.
John Jun, Republican: Jun, a Navy veteran and attorney, is a former member and mayor pro tem of the Coppell City Council. He said he opposes school vouchers and would increase school funding. His other legislative priorities include cutting taxes and supporting small businesses by limiting regulations.

Digital Disruption (Foreign Policy/Washington Post) International air travel, financial services, medical systems, personal computers, and television broadcasts briefly ground to a halt on Friday after CrowdStrike, a U.S. cybersecurity firm, pushed through a flawed software update that sparked a global technology outage. CrowdStrike may not have been a household name before Friday, but the firm plays an outsized role in operating many of the world’s digital services, as demonstrated by this incident. More than half of all Fortune 500 companies rely on CrowdStrike’s cybersecurity software. Friday’s disruption occurred after the firm deployed a software update that appeared to clash with Microsoft Windows, thereby wreaking havoc on computers that had been running that system. Marie Vasek, an assistant professor at University College London’s computer science department, said the widespread computer meltdowns showed how reliant global technology systems are on a small number of companies’ software. It’s being called the most spectacular IT failure the world has ever seen.
‘Our Nation Is Not Well’: Voters Fear What Could Happen Next (NYT) Before Saturday, when Butler, Pa., became the latest stunned backdrop for the nation’s political fury, Mayor Bob Dandoy thought of his town as a place that had learned to work around party lines. A Democrat in a Republican stronghold, he had campaigned on consensus. He was at dinner with his family on Saturday when he heard a spectator was dead at Donald J. Trump’s campaign rally on the farm show grounds, two more were critically injured. The former president’s right ear had been grazed by a bullet. The gunman, an isolated 20-year-old with an AR-15-style rifle, was fatally shot by the Secret Service. All this, in the town of about 13,000 where Mr. Dandoy has lived “all my life.” Since then, national discord has descended on Butler with such force that this week it crashed the town’s website. E-mailers charged that the city failed to protect Mr. Trump, maybe even wanted him to be a target. Callers demanded that the city admit that Mr. Trump’s supporters staged the shooting. The mayor has tried to remind everyone that Butler is a community that accomplishes good things, that has worked through disagreements together. And yet, he said, the trauma has been overwhelming. “People are in a state of shock,” he said. As the 2024 presidential election approaches, that unease is not limited to Butler. In interviews from the West Coast to the Deep South, Americans across party lines say they are deeply apprehensive, and not just because of last weekend’s attempt on a presidential candidate’s life.
Immigrants and crime (NYT) Throughout the first three days of the Republican National Convention, officials have highlighted a surge in what they call “migrant crime.” President Biden “has welcomed into our country rapists, murderers, even terrorists, and the price that we have paid has been deadly,” Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas claimed last night. The day before, Senator Ted Cruz of Texas said, “Every day, Americans are dying” in crimes committed by migrants. Donald Trump has made similar remarks on the campaign trail. But there is no migrant crime surge. In fact, U.S. rates of crime and immigration have moved in opposite directions in recent years. After illegal immigration plummeted in 2020, the murder rate rose. And after illegal immigration spiked in 2021 and 2022, murders plateaued and then fell. Over a longer period, there is no relationship between immigration and crime trends.
Losing Hope, Venezuelans Vow to Leave Their Country if Maduro Wins (NYT) A young opposition activist planning to trek through seven countries and a perilous jungle to reach the United States. A journalist ready to abandon everything to build a new life abroad. A lawyer in her 60s, fearful that her last daughter is about to leave. For thousands of Venezuelans, the decision to remain or flee their homeland depends on a single date: July 28. On that day, the country will vote in a high-stakes presidential election. If the country’s authoritarian leader, Nicolás Maduro, declares victory, they say they will go. If the opposition candidate wins, they will stay. Roughly a quarter of Venezuela’s population has already left, with almost eight million people living in other countries, according to the United Nations, forming one of the largest migration crises in the world. So far, Mr. Maduro has shown little interest in relinquishing power, no matter what the vote shows. This week at a campaign event, he warned that Venezuela would fall “into a blood bath, into a fratricidal civil war” if he didn’t win.
New U.K. prime minister seeks a reset with Europe (Washington Post) The setting was a super-posh country estate, the birthplace of Winston Churchill, just outside Oxford. Forty-six leaders from Europe showed up. The word of the day was “reset”—as in Britain seeks to reset its relationship with the continent. New British Prime Minister Keir Starmer hosted this, the fourth meeting of the European Political Community, which includes the 27 members of the European Union and an outer-circle of like-minded democracies—like the United Kingdom. Starmer, who was against Brexit, has emphatically stated that Britain won’t be rejoining the E.U. in his lifetime. But he used Thursday’s prescheduled summit to begin patching things up after years of squabbling over the terms of the U.K. exit. European leaders offered warm words about rapprochement. French President Emmanuel Macron told broadcasters, “This is a great opportunity for a reset.”
Russian court convicts journalist Evan Gershkovich, imposes 16-year sentence (Washington Post) In a closed trial with secret evidence, a Russian court on Friday convicted American journalist Evan Gershkovich of espionage—charges that the U.S. government said were wholly fabricated—and sentenced him to 16 years in prison, according to Russian state media. Gershkovich was the first American journalist arrested in Russia since the Cold War and his case has grave implications for press freedoms. The trial proceeded with unusual swiftness—suggesting potential developments in negotiations for a prisoner exchange. Trials for espionage in Russia typically take months. In Russia’s highly-politicized legal system, where the courts routinely are used to jail journalists, democracy advocates, human rights activists and political opponents of the government, Gershkovich’s conviction had appeared inevitable since his arrest. Gershkovich’s arrest in March 2023 seemed to mark a brazen new chapter in hostage diplomacy, by which the Kremlin details foreigners on baseless charges only to use them to negotiate exchanges for Russians convicted of serious crimes in the West.
Bangladesh security forces fire bullets and sound grenades as protests escalate (AP) Police and security officials fired bullets and tear gas at protesters in Bangladesh on Friday, as internet and mobile services were cut off after days of deadly clashes over the allocation of government jobs. The protests, which began weeks ago but escalated sharply on Monday, represent the biggest challenge to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina since she was won a fourth consecutive term in a January election that was boycotted by the main opposition parties. The fresh clashes follow the bloodiest day of the protests to date, with local media reporting 22 people killed as protesting students attempted to impose a “complete shutdown” on the country. The chaos has highlighted cracks in Bangladesh’s governance and economy and the frustration of young graduates who face a lack of good jobs.
Israel should evacuate settlements, pay reparations, ICJ says (Washington Post) The International Court of Justice, the top judicial arm of the United Nations, said Friday that Israel should bring an end to its illegal occupation of Palestinian territory, cease new settlement activity, evacuate existing settlements and pay reparations to Palestinians who have lost land and property. The court, based in The Hague, said Israel is responsible for “systematic discrimination” against Palestinians based on race or ethnicity and has breached the right of Palestinians to self-determination. “Israel has an obligation to bring an end to its presence in the occupied Palestinian territory as rapidly as possible,” said Nawaf Salam, the president of the court. The searing advisory opinion issued by judges is not legally binding, but the decision could have wide consequences in the international arena, including in trade and diplomacy. Israel declined to take part in the hearings and described the proceedings as biased and an “abuse of international law and the judicial process.”
Yemen’s Houthi rebels claim drone strike that kills 1 person, injures at least 10 in Tel Aviv (AP) Yemen’s Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for a drone strike early Friday that hit part of central Tel Aviv near the U.S. Embassy, killing one person and injuring 10. The aerial strike rumbled through the streets causing shards of shrapnel to rain down and spreading shards of glass over a large radius. The Houthis have launched drones and missiles toward Israel throughout the Israel-Hamas war, in solidarity with the Palestinian people and against Israel. But until Friday, all were intercepted by either Israel or Western allies with forces stationed in the region. It blew out windows of a number of buildings and damaged cars in the neighborhood near the coastline. People thronged to the area as police helicopters hovered overhead.
‘I Divorce You’: Dubai princess’s Instagram declaration defies custom (Washington Post) One of the daughters of Dubai’s ruler announced her intent to seek a divorce in an Instagram post Wednesday, making Sheikha Mahra bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum the latest princess of the emirate to publicly counter the norms of her country—and of her father, the Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Dubai. “I hereby declare our divorce,” wrote Mahra, the daughter of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. “I divorce you, I divorce you, and I Divorce You. Take care. Your ex-wife.” In repeating the phrase “I divorce you” three times, the princess appeared to be referencing the controversial practice of triple talaq. Customarily, under Sunni Islamic law, triple talaq allows a Muslim man to divorce his wife by saying talaq—the Arabic word for divorce—three times. The man does not need to offer a reason or obtain his wife’s agreement. The princess suggested in her Wednesday post that her husband had been unfaithful to her, saying that he was “occupied with other companions.” Her apparent invocation of triple talaq broke from the practice’s typical implementation, as it is men who invoke talaq under Islamic law.
Ethiopia’s kidnapping epidemic (The Week) More than 100 people, mostly students, are being held for ransom by kidnappers in Ethiopia, the latest in an epidemic of abductions in the troubled country. The kidnappings are centred on the restive Oromia region. Buses travelling from a university in the area to the capital Addis Ababa in early July were attacked and passengers taken. Such incidents are nothing new. It is now “very rare” to find a family “who has not been affected by kidnapping,” one local told The Guardian in January. “The government has no control” over the problem. The gunmen are thought to have transported their captives to a remote rural area. Families of the victims have received ransom demands. The brother of one of the abductees was phoned and told that if he ever wanted to see his sister again, he needed to pay 700,000 Ethiopian birr (£9,400). On Friday, the Ethiopian Human Rights Council said that some students have apparently been released after their families paid ransoms, according to the Toronto-based Ethiopian news site Borkena.

The Ultimate Guide to Dating as an Indian Single
In an increasingly globalized world, finding love has transcended geographical boundaries, with many Indian singles living abroad and seeking meaningful connections. Among the largest groups of expatriates, Indian singles in the USA are a notable demographic. This community has unique cultural expectations and challenges, making Indian matchmaking services an essential resource. This blog explores the journey of these individuals and the role of matchmaking services in bridging cultural and emotional gaps.
The Journey of Indian Singles in the USA
Indian singles in the USA face a complex interplay of maintaining cultural identity while adapting to Western social norms. This dual identity can make the search for a life partner both challenging and enriching. Here’s a closer look at their experiences:
Cultural Expectations: Traditional Indian culture places a high value on family involvement in marriage. For many Indian singles, particularly those from first-generation immigrant families, there is a balancing act between honoring their heritage and embracing the more individualistic Western approach to relationships.
Professional Pursuits: Many Indian singles in the USA are highly educated and career-focused. While this success brings personal fulfillment, it often leads to a delayed search for a life partner, making it more challenging to find someone with similar life goals and cultural values.
Social Networks: In India, social networks and family connections often play a significant role in matchmaking. However, for Indian singles abroad, these networks are not as readily available, necessitating new ways to meet potential partners.
Tumblr media
The Rise of Indian Matchmaking Services
Given these unique challenges, Indian matchmaking services have become increasingly popular among Indian singles in the USA. These services offer a culturally sensitive approach to finding love, bridging the gap between traditional expectations and modern dating practices.
Culturally Aligned Matches: Matchmaking services understand the importance of cultural compatibility. They often have extensive databases of potential matches, ensuring that clients can find someone who shares their cultural background, values, and traditions.
Personalized Approach: Unlike generic dating apps, Indian matchmaking services offer personalized matchmaking, where matchmakers take the time to understand their clients’ preferences, values, and goals. This tailored approach significantly increases the chances of finding a compatible partner.
Family Involvement: For many Indian singles, involving family in the matchmaking process is crucial. These services often facilitate family introductions and meetings, ensuring that both the individuals and their families are comfortable with the match.
Safety and Privacy: Matchmaking services prioritize the safety and privacy of their clients. They conduct thorough background checks and provide a secure environment for individuals to meet and get to know each other.
Success Stories and Testimonials
Numerous success stories highlight the effectiveness of Indian matchmaking services in the USA. For instance, Priya, a software engineer in Silicon Valley, struggled to find a partner who understood her cultural background and professional ambitions. Through a matchmaking service, she met Raj, an entrepreneur with a similar upbringing and life goals. Their shared cultural values and mutual respect for each other’s careers laid a strong foundation for their relationship.
Similarly, Ankit, a doctor in New York, found his partner through a matchmaking service after years of unsuccessful attempts on conventional dating apps. The personalized approach of the matchmaking service helped him connect with Neha, a lawyer with a shared cultural heritage and compatible life aspirations. Their story is a testament to how these services can bridge cultural and geographical divides to create meaningful connections.
Tumblr media
Challenges and Future Outlook
Despite their benefits, Indian matchmaking services also face challenges. The stigma associated with seeking professional help for finding a partner still exists among some individuals. Additionally, the high cost of these services can be a barrier for many.
However, the future looks promising. With the growing acceptance of professional matchmaking and the increasing number of Indian singles in the USA seeking culturally compatible partners, these services are poised for significant growth. The integration of technology, such as AI and data analytics, is also enhancing the matchmaking process, making it more efficient and effective.
Conclusion
For Indian singles in the USA, the search for a life partner involves navigating cultural expectations and modern dating norms. Indian matchmaking services play a crucial role in this journey, offering a blend of traditional values and modern conveniences. By providing personalized, culturally aligned matches, these services are helping many find meaningful and lasting relationships, proving that love knows no boundaries.
Whether you’re an Indian single in USA or simply interested in understanding this unique aspect of the diaspora’s experience, the importance of culturally sensitive matchmaking cannot be overstated. As these services continue to evolve, they promise to make the journey to finding love a little easier and a lot more fulfilling.

5 Common Misconceptions About Legal Document Preparation Services Debunked
Tumblr media
Legal document preparation services have become an increasingly popular alternative to traditional attorney services, offering individuals and small businesses a cost-effective way to handle various legal matters. Despite their growing popularity, there are still numerous misconceptions about what these services can and cannot do. Here, we will debunk five common misconceptions about legal document preparation services to provide clarity and help you make informed decisions about your legal needs.
Misconception 1: Legal Document Preparers Are the Same as Lawyers
One of the most prevalent misconceptions is that legal document preparers are the same as lawyers. This is not true. Legal document preparers are trained professionals who specialize in preparing legal documents based on the information provided by their clients. They are not licensed attorneys and cannot offer legal advice or represent clients in court.
Debunked: Legal document preparers focus on the accurate and efficient preparation of legal documents. They ensure that all forms are filled out correctly and comply with the relevant legal requirements. However, they do not provide legal advice or interpret the law. If you need legal advice or representation, you should consult a licensed attorney. Legal document preparer are best suited for individuals who have already decided on their legal course of action and simply need help with the paperwork.
Misconception 2: Legal Document Preparation Services Are Unreliable
Another common misconception is that legal document preparation services are unreliable and prone to errors. This belief stems from the idea that because these services are often less expensive than hiring an attorney, they must be of lower quality.
Debunked: Many legal document preparation services are highly reliable and employ trained professionals who are well-versed in the requirements for various legal documents. These services often use advanced software and technology to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal standards. Additionally, many reputable legal document preparation services offer guarantees and customer support to address any issues that may arise. As with any service, it is important to do your research and choose a provider with positive reviews and a proven track record.
Misconception 3: Legal Document Preparation Services Are Only for Simple Matters
Some people believe that legal document preparation services are only suitable for simple, straightforward legal matters and that more complex issues require the expertise of an attorney.
Debunked: While it is true that legal document preparation services are often used for more straightforward matters such as wills, power of attorney, and business formation documents, they can also handle more complex issues. Many services offer specialized document preparation for divorce, bankruptcy, immigration, and other intricate legal matters. The key is to understand the scope of the service being offered and to ensure that it meets your specific needs. If your situation is particularly complicated or if you are unsure about the legal implications, it may be wise to seek legal advice in addition to using a document preparation service.
Misconception 4: Legal Document Preparers Can Provide Legal Advice
A common misunderstanding is that legal document preparers can provide legal advice and guide you through the legal process.
Debunked: Legal document preparers are not licensed to practice law and cannot provide legal advice. They are prohibited by law from interpreting legal statutes, offering legal opinions, or advising clients on their legal rights. Their role is limited to preparing documents based on the information provided by the client. If you require legal advice or need help understanding the legal implications of your situation, you should consult with a licensed attorney. Legal document preparer can complement legal advice by ensuring your documents are accurately prepared, but they should not be relied upon for legal counsel.
Misconception 5: Legal Document Preparation Services Are Expensive
Many people assume that legal document preparation services are expensive and not worth the cost, especially when compared to do-it-yourself (DIY) options.
Debunked: Document preparer can actually be quite affordable, especially when compared to the cost of hiring an attorney. While prices vary depending on the complexity of the documents and the service provider, many services offer flat fees or package deals that can save you money in the long run. Additionally, the time and effort saved by using a professional service can be invaluable. DIY options might seem cheaper initially, but mistakes in legal documents can lead to costly delays and complications. Investing in a legal document preparation service can provide peace of mind and ensure that your documents are prepared correctly the first time.
The Benefits of Legal Document Preparation Services
Now that we have debunked some common misconceptions, it is important to highlight the benefits of using legal document preparation services:
Cost-Effective: These services are generally more affordable than hiring an attorney, making them accessible to individuals and small businesses with limited budgets.
Efficiency: Legal document preparers are experienced in handling various forms and paperwork, which can streamline the process and save you time.
Accuracy: Professional document preparers are trained to ensure that all documents are completed correctly and comply with legal requirements, reducing the risk of errors and rejections.
Convenience: Many legal document preparation services offer online platforms, allowing you to complete and submit documents from the comfort of your home or office.
Support: Reputable services provide customer support to answer questions and address any concerns that may arise during the document preparation process.
Choosing the Right Legal Document Preparation Service
When selecting a legal document preparation service, it is important to consider the following factors:
Reputation: Look for reviews and testimonials from previous clients to gauge the reliability and quality of the service.
Experience: Choose a provider with experience in handling the specific type of legal documents you need.
Cost: Compare prices and services offered to find a provider that fits your budget.
Guarantees: Check if the service offers any guarantees or protections in case of errors or issues with the documents.
Customer Support: Ensure that the provider offers accessible and responsive customer support to assist you throughout the process.
Conclusion
Document preparer can be a valuable resource for individuals and small businesses seeking an affordable and efficient way to handle their legal paperwork. By debunking these common misconceptions, we hope to provide a clearer understanding of what these services can offer and how they can benefit you. While legal document preparers are not a substitute for legal advice from an attorney, they can complement legal services by ensuring that your documents are prepared accurately and efficiently. With the right provider, you can save time, money, and stress while navigating your legal matters.
