Here's the thing tho...I CANT DECIDE. There's two very different stories here that are equally fun.

One the one hand you have rich baby with convictions Kate Bishop who foregoes a promising law career kickstarted by all her families connections to stand up for justice and help the little guy. She could've had a job at any top level firm in NYC that she wanted but she chooses to be a...public defender??? For scraps??? Everyone's confused. But Kate's happy with her little shitty job. She's doing something that matters. Pair that with low-level Russian Mob enforcer Yelena Belova who is a dummy and keeps getting caught for dumb shit. Like...kills people on the reg but ends up in court for unrelated shit like...having a bench warrant for too many unpaid parking tickets??? But she has some other stupid priors and that makes the whole thing worse.

THE OTHER VERSION IS JUST AS GOOD THO. Super serious (but obviously brilliant) public defender Yelena Belova who comes from nothing and is doing it to represent the people from her community. She wants to be the lawyer she wishes her father had when he was in court. Maybe if he had gotten a decent public defender instead of the moron he was stuck with he wouldn't have spent twenty years in jail and away from her. Yelena wants to stop those miscarriages of justice. Then there's DUMBASS, single brain cell having, up to no good Kate Bishop. Like...comes up with the most IDIOTIC plans and is somehow surprised when they always fail. And every time Yelena sees her stupid name on the stupid docket she's like "not this dumb bitch again?...your honor it's technically not a deadly weapon. It was a gun shaped taser...that she forgot to put batteries in." And Kate's just sitting there like 🤓

"If I can do anything to help..." he tried to reassure you.

'You could let me jump on your fingers' you thought, but that was certainly not an approved treatment for the cold he obviously thought you had. You did your best to put on a smile and grab at his forearm with gratitude.

"You know what? One of these days, I'll take you up on that and leave myself in your capabe hands." you teased, and he, of course, completely missed your inuendo.

Umm, are y'all ok???

I just want to say that it feels a bit unfair (read: weird as fuck) that people are uncomfortable or feel that Andy only deserves a 'platonic bond'. And this isn't just me assuming but based on me scrolling through Tumblr—specifically the Alien: Romulus tag—and seeing plenty of Tyler, Rain, Bjorn, hell, even damn Xenomorph yandere/romance/smut stories but zilch for Andy.

I even received an ask telling me that I shouldn't continue writing Andy as a love interest but instead to make it a 'platonic' familia one. And all I can say to that person: please go to hell. It's wild that the audacity was even implied.

As far as I know, I'm the only one writing Alien: Romulus content that showcases Andy in a romantic light, and I plan to continue doing so. He deserves to be seen as a versatile android—whether that be a yandere one who loves the MC or a sweet soulmate that's always there—just like the other androids in the Alien franchise receive. *cough* Walter *cough*.

I don't know, sorry for going off on a tangent, but this is something I just needed to get off my chest. I'm practically filled with butterflies at the opportunity to create such a love story for a character that swept so many, like myself, off their feet. Andy is perfect and he will continue to receive stories from me until a bunch of people can get it into their thick skulls that he deserves to be thirsted after just like the rest of the cast…

At the end of the day, my version of Andy is staying romantic, yandere, or whatever I see fit and if you don't like that, please do your part and create more stories centering him in the vision you'd like to read/see...
