My first aesthetic board for a character I’ve had floating around in my head for a while.

I’m still working on her name but I keep coming back to Estrella “Ella” Nuñez Macías. I did some research on Spanish naming customs and I’m still trying to figure out the details with it (middle name/order of the name & so on) so if anyone has additional information please feel free to let me know.

She is my first original character for Pixar’s Coco and is Miguel’s girlfriend/future wife. I’ll have more boards coming with her in the future but this is her introduction.

I wanted her to have a slight/noticeable relation to a young imelda in the shape of her face (although at different angles). I wanted her to evoke the same feeling but still be her own character. I looked for a real image for a long time and finally I just browsed through google images and found her tonight.

This is still a work in progress so I’d love to hear your feedback on what you’d like to know about Ella, it’ll really help me expand her more in the future. Pointers, questions and constructive criticism is always welcome. I hope to have the next update soon.

Also, since Disneybound is a thing I wonder if Ceci managed to convinve Imelda to wear at least one Disneybound outfit? Maybe like this one? Or maybe even this one? ("Just replace the platform shoes with the usual boots and you're set!") Or how about this one? ("Again: shoes")

Imelda had to stop Ceci from getting too excited but she does like the Briar Rose one. Is it the purple cardigan? Who knows.

How would a trip to Disneyland work for the main teacher AU crew?

- Imelda becomes incredibly selfie-aggressive for reasons no one quite understands. (It may or may not be in an effort to get back at Courtney, the American girl Hector went to Disneyland with during his study abroad during university. Who Imelda is NOT still low-key jealous of.)

- Hector enthusiastically takes the role of tour guide (a necessity since he’s got the best functional English of the group) even though Imelda is the one with the fifteen minute bracketed fast pass schedule and Ernesto has written out exactly what rides they’re hitting and in what order.

- Also since Ernesto’s also been before, he doesn’t need a map, which he asserts repeatedly as they wind up at Splash mountain for the tenth time that day.

- Miguel and Hector keep wandering off and getting lost, leaving disgruntled Ernesto and Imelda with a lot of “why do we even bring him out in public” chat time together. They don’t know where they are until they all show up at Space Mountain and Hector and Miguel are soaking wet. “We kept ending up at Splash Mountain so we figured we might as well go on it.”

- Ernesto is the guy who goes in with that one specific souvenir in mind that he wants, and keeps dragging everyone through all the side shops until he finds it.

- Imelda doesn’t believe in souvenirs until she sees a certain pin set and suddenly she’s got a lanyard and is rabidly tracking down the entire set across the whole park. She’s not a pin trader, she’s a pin barterer. (Occasionally, occasionally a pin coercer.)   

- Hector and Miguel somehow ALWAYS have a churro/dole whip/chocolate banana in hand, despite Imelda’s best efforts to try and curb their sugar intake/snack spending.

- Miguel spends half the day on Héctor’s shoulders.

- ERNESTO STAKES OUT A SPOT FOR FIREWORKS 2 HOURS BEFORE THE SHOW.

- Hector coerces Imelda into taking cute couple photos the whole time. They’re never as cute as ones on Instagram but they have so much fun they post them anyway.

- Miguel carries a red lightsaber and has the light-up Star Wars ears from tomorrow land that he wears the whole time.

- Which speaking of, Ernesto also has pre-planned “spur of the moment” social media moments planned for the whole trip.

- Hector finds Panchito Pistoles and gets unreasonably excited about the photo op.  

- Three days into the trip Miguel is tired and starts taking naps on any flat surface. Ernesto agrees to camp out with Miguel and check his social media while Imelda and Hector go off for some time alone together. When Miguel wakes up he and Ernesto go hit haunted mansion and pirates of the Caribbean three times in a row because they can.

- Imelda said three days would be enough, but the boys all argued for a full Mon-Saturday in the park. By Friday everyone is dragging and taking naps. Saturday is spent lazing around at the beach instead.
