HOW DID YOU GUYS FIRST MET?
(Raidō Namiashi x Reader)
You were teased by the village boys while on your way home after a late night shift. Confused and somewhat scared in that situation, suddenly a man wearing a Jōnin uniform with a large scar on the left side of his face (yes, it was Raidō) appeared like a hero and asked:
- What are you doing? Mom and dad waited for you for a long time and you didn't come home, so they told me to find you.
Understanding his intentions, you quickly replied:
- I'm on my way home, I'm just busy a little, BIG BROTHER.
The village boys ran away after hearing that, you were extremely grateful that Raidō had saved you, then escorted you all the way home, told you to be careful and then turned around, not having time to leave his name or whatever for you. However, fate arranged for the two of you to meet again, when Raidō had to be rushed to Konoha Hospital after a hard mission and the nurse who took care of him directly was you.

Back to posting about Raido for a moment. One thing I've noticed while replaying Soulless Army is that Raido's scarred eye is actually kind of seriously fucked up and he can't open it all the way. It's such an easily missable detail but I like it a lot and it makes me wish that we could've had the opportunity to learn more about what happened to him.
#raidouposting#i imagine that the idea is supposed to be that he's blind in that eye right? or at least visually impaired#and since his school cap was damaged too the injury must've been pretty recent too#since raidou arrives in raido's world right at the beginning of his tenure in tsukudo-cho#ahhh....... poor raido </3

Raidou Kuzunoha time! I think he has a sweet tooth but especially for maple syrup and berries. He loves blueberry pancakes so much and for his birthday Akane made him some for his birthday party and Narumi tried to write “happy birthday” on them in maple syrup. He failed miserably. Raidou may have cried in joy
THIS. I’M LOVE STUFF LIKE THIS (bonus points for akane mention she deserves better)
#i imagine dahn trying to help her out on baking stuff sometimes#they’d both probably chill with raidou on a regular basis or at least dahn will#i do like to think akane came back eventually#sorry that’s kinda off topic but ANYWAYS#sweet tooth raidou headcanons are some of my favorites. maybe it’s because they’re kinda canon already lol.#sweets bring him happiness what can i say#shantien answers#headcanon hell

Hi ! Welcome to my page .
I am a hobby artist that focuses on comics and storytelling. I am here to make new friends and just to have fun and see how it goes.
My special interest is fantasy - both the historical and the urban kind. Fandom-wise I really like the Fallout series, the Elder Scrolls series, the Fire Emblem series (finished the series from Awakening up to Three Houses, I am playing Shadow Dragon right now ), the Persona series (three to five, I also love the Raidou Kuzunoha series), and recently suck into the world of Dungeon Meshi - The illustration below is an imagining of some characters from my home country in the Dungeon Meshi universe
If you like those series then I am your person and it I know you -HI!

Spot the lie: Shin Megami Tensei edition
Note: I'm including everything under the SMT label in English except the Persona games. No I don't care if they're technically part of another subseries in Japan. Also, these apply to the original releases. I know some have been updated but I haven't played them.
I especially want to hear from people who haven't played them because this feels too easy for a veteran.
Poll results are in and I'm very disappointed that only 3.7% of you got it right.
I will now reveal the correct answers:
1. TRUE - The first major boss in Devil Survivor, Beldr, can only be killed by mistletoe, a mistletoe-shaped cellphone strap is just as effective.
2. TRUE - Yggdrasil is sapient and steals time warping powers from the Disir. The protagonist has to go back in time to save themselves with the help of the Norns (who have evolved from the Disir who gave him the quest, you know like Pokemon)
3. TRUE - Dante made a guest appearance in the original release of SMT Nocturne. Later versions replaced him with Raidou Kuzunoha, the protagonist of two games in the Devil Summoner spinoff series
4. TRUE - It's ordinary literature, there's nothing wrong with it the citizens of the Eastern Kingdom of Mikado are just that brainwashed
5. TRUE - The entry is in Strange Journey. "Originally, he looked like an abominable snowman, but perhaps he changed form to more efficiently freeze people."
6. TRUE - The bondage angel design debuted in SMT 2. Here's a screenshot of SMT 1 showing its original design.
7. TRUE - A lot of people voted for this one but it's actually true. Cerberus' single head is a reference to the original novel the series is based on (Digital Devil Story). He is depicted with three heads in SMT: IMAGINE, Soul Hackers, and Digital Devil Saga.
8. TRUE - I did not know the origin of David's name myself so I looked it up. His design is possibly a reference to the poem Danse Macabre by Camille Saint-Saens.
9. FALSE (ish) - It's actually the reverse: Astaroth wishes to become the goddess Ishtar (technically to return to being Ishtar but in game terms Ishtar is treated as his "evolution"). He is usually required in order to fuse her. In some games, the two don't appear to be connected at all.
10. TRUE - As the accuser, Satan is part of the Law alignment (and therefore on YHVH's side) against Lucifer, who (usually) represents the Chaos alignment. His role in SMT IV Apocalypse is more complicated.
Anyways good job everyone. Everyone gets a cookie.

I am rereading UDB + NoT, and I am back to going crazy over it, I literally think about it daily😅 I love your writing so much💜
I hope you don't mind but I wanted to ask how/where the chunin exams are held at this point in time (like is it comparable to canon? are the villages hosting them in rotation? are they sending teams to other villages for them?).
We got a feel on how tense things are right now between the villages with Shisui's "trip" around lightning country (+ with Kumo's attempt at getting the byakugan being only 4 or 5 years in the past) and Kiri (+ Kiri going through it right now with the bloodline purges). I just can’t imagine them having games like in canon and set themselves up to that security nightmare....
Also completely unrelated thought -> in one of you posts you said that Shisui had a big growth spurt in anbu and it's just really funny to me that he might have been around Genma’s and Raidou's height when they first became a team and like three missions later he was a head taller than them😭
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Absolutely, I love answering asks especially about my fics✨ The exams are definitely on a smaller scale, I imagine that with Kiri hemorrhaging Shinobi, Ame just about getting their feet under them, and the upheaval in Konoha, most villages are running exams only in coalition with their strongest allies. So, for example, I mentioned before that Konoha has 'vassal' villages, like Yumegakure, that is politically sheltered by them? They always participate in exams together.
Sometimes, even when politics is especially spicy, the villages do organize to host larger exams, as a show of strength/confidence as much as to scout out the other's ranks. But that probably only happens after a certain amount of peacetime because otherwise who would risk letting in all their rivals, right into their base of operations and soft underbelly, and NOT expect to be massacred...????
Shisui's own Chuunin Exam was hosted in Konoha's Forest of Death (nods head to the snap shots of Ibiki's exam, since I shoehorned Shisui in there) and Suna were in attendance, possibly the only true "foreign power" there (I haven't decided)... it was quite the moment when lil baby Shisui killed both of his Suna opponents in the final rounds. Since this was only shortly after Konoha and Suna had reached a peace agreement, and it's known that Shisui's parents were killed by Suna nin during the war, the whole thing was pretty... memorable. As for how the Chuunin exams will play out in "current events" of the series? I have to ask if you somehow hacked my doc plans for spoilers 😂
Lmaooooooooo Genma being like "omg look at this brat, this kid, lil shrimp" and then shisui shoots up and Raidou is like "YOU JUST HAD TO CHALLENGE HIM DIDNT YOU 🤡" 😂😂😂😂😂😂

So, I ran the Raidou prequal novel through a machine translator, and while it was pretty garbled, I was able to make out some interesting things. Apparently, the main antagonist is the ghost of Saiga Magoichi who worked for the Yatagarasu when alive and participated in the Honnoji incident against Nobunaga on their orders. Also, one of Raidou’s demons is Aterui, who’s described as a beast. Make of that whatever you will.
That's a much more explicit connection than I would have imagined! Whether it was a conscious influence or simply a connection drawn after the fact to service the plot of the novel, the resemblance was at least taken into account.
Also, there was a proper fan-translation of the novel released some years back, but it was hosted on LiveJournal. So, bit of a disaster to access at the moment. Probably still floating around somewhere.
Update: Looks like only the first part of the novel was translated, so I guess a garbled machine translation is your best bet at the moment.

Day 27: Outdoor Event
@flufftober
Genma rang the bell and counted to ten. Well, at least he tried to but before he could even get to three, Gai had already yanked the door open, the biggest smile imaginable plastered on his face. Before Genma knew what was happening, Gai had already grabbed his wrist and pulled him inside. A quick glance to the side showed him that Raidou had suffered the same fate. He too was struggling to keep up, his wrist firmly clasped by Gai’s other hand. Genma grinned to himself when he saw the helpless expression on Raidou’s face while they both tumbled after Gai, barely keeping up with his energetic pace. They exchanged a grin, Raidou a bit tormented which made Genma laugh to himself. He did know that Raidou wasn’t the biggest fan of gatherings but since he had insisted on accompanying Genma even though he had asked him three times whether he even wanted to, he had no other choice but to resign to his fate – which was wearing his usual green jumpsuit and was almost skipping in excitement.
Gai didn’t show mercy until they had crossed his living room and made it to the patio door that led to Gai’s spacious garden. Only when he had dragged them onto his patio, he let go of both of them and turned towards them, smiling at them excitedly. “The others are already here,” he exclaimed proudly, pointing vaguely behind him.
Genma peered over his shoulder and noticed a group of people casually standing around an enormous garden table with at least ten chairs around it. Genma waved back excitedly when Ebisu noticed him and raised his hand in a greeting. His gesture seemed to alert the others who now also turned to face them. Genma grinned happily when he saw that almost all of their friends had gathered in Gai’s garden. He could see Kakashi, standing suspiciously close to Yamato who smiled at Genma and Raidou. Obito had his arm wrapped around Rin who was laughing about a joke Shizune had just made. Yukiko stood next to Ebisu, excitedly waving at her brother and Genma felt Raidou relax a bit when he smiled at his little sister.
Gai grinned and gave them a soft push, steering them both towards their friends. It took a while until Genma and Raidou had greeted every single one of them and when the group finally quieted down a bit, Gai puffed himself up, smiling at them proudly. “I am so glad that you all could make it,” he said loudly and his garden fell quiet when they all looked at him curiously. “As most of you know, I wanted to have one last outdoor gathering before it gets too cold to chill in the garden. And with the help of Yamato, Shizune and Yukiko, I have managed to put together an amazing feast.”
Gai grinned at the three mentioned, giving them a thumbs up which they returned with a smile. “But all of you know that we have also gathered for one specific reason,” he continued, eyeing them eagerly. Genma started grinning. He indeed knew what Gai had lured them in with and his stomach started rumbling at the thought. He noticed that Ebisu and Kakashi also nodded, looking at Gai expectantly. Gai seemed to enjoy the attention and he stalled until the silence almost got too long. “Well, I know you’re all waiting for it – but I decided that we’re gonna have some more fun today.”
Genma raised an eyebrow and looked at him curiously. “What shenanigans have you come up with this time?” he asked with a laugh and Gai returned his look triumphantly.
“Well, my dearest Genma, there is one problem – I only have enough pumpkin pie for three people. In order to get a taste of my famous pumpkin pie, you will have to prove yourself worthy,” Gai exclaimed, grinning at the puzzled faces around him. “You will all have to compete with each other in my infamous treasure hunt!”
For a moment, everything stayed silent but then all hell broke loose when all of them started chattering at once. Gai seemed to relish in the overarching confusion and Genma felt a soft tug at his sleeve. He turned towards Raidou who eyed him a bit perplexed. “Did you know about this?” Raidou whispered.
Genma shook his head and shrugged with a grin. “No, I didn’t. But honestly, I’m not surprised. Gai wouldn’t be satisfied with hosting a simple outdoor event. No, he has to do something extravagant, otherwise it wouldn’t be successful to him.”
Raidou smiled nervously and nodded. “I guess I could’ve seen this coming,” he agreed quietly.
Before Genma had the chance to reply, Gai raised his hands and motioned for them to quiet down. “Listen, you guys. I have hidden three Halloween tokens in my garden and whoever finds one of them will get to enjoy my infamous pumpkin pie while the others miss out and have to make do with the rest of our feast.”
Kakashi shook his head slightly incredulously. “You always have to go the extra mile, don’t you?”
Gai gave him his biggest grin. “You’re entirely right about this, my eternal rival. But don’t fret, you only have a couple of the greatest shinobi in all of Konoha competing with you. Are you up for the challenge?”
Kakashi straightened up and cracked his knuckles, grinning maliciously at them. “I’ll find all three tokens before anyone else does,” he proclaimed, evoking a whole bunch of equally as belligerent replies from Ebisu, Obito and Yukiko. Even Shizune and Yamato grinned, determined to prove themselves in this challenge.
Gai raised his arms, staring at all of them intently. “Well, I wish you all luck. Ready, set … go!”
And before Genma could form a straight thought, all of them scattered into the depths of Gai’s garden. Genma gave Raidou a look and smiled. “Shall we?” he asked and Raidou nodded with a slight smile. Then they followed the others’ example, also diving into the bushes around them.
Genma couldn’t stop grinning to himself when he carefully scoured Gai’s vegetable beds for anything that even remotely reminded him of Halloween but except for a couple of turnips he didn’t find anything. After he had cleared the vegetable patches, he moved on to the thicket next to the fence that separated Gai’s yard from his neighbor’s. But this spot also didn’t yield any results. He was about to move on to the next area when he heard a triumphant call, followed closely by another one in a different voice. “Only one token left,” he muttered to himself, intensifying his efforts.
Genma was digging himself through a giant pile of red and brown leaves, right in the line of sight of Raidou who was examining a tree hole, when he heard a third shout with glee. With a sigh, he straightened himself up and gave Raidou a look who returned it with an amused shrug. They both wiped their hands off on their pants and returned to the garden table where Gai had dished up the announced feast in the meantime.
Genma let his gaze wander over the table and stared at it in awe. Gai had done an amazing job, outdoing himself with over a dozen of dishes, beautifully arranged on gorgeous silverware that Genma would never had expected Gai to have. He gave him an impressed look and nodded appreciatively. “This looks amazing, Gai,” he said and Raidou next to him agreed wholeheartedly.
Gai thanked them graciously and looked around. Genma followed his gaze and noticed that three people were holding artfully carved jack-o-lanterns in their hands. Of course, Kakashi was one of them but to his surprise, the other ones were proudly held by Yamato and Rin.
Gai nodded at them approvingly. “So, we have our winners! Congrats, you three. As a reward, you’ll not only get to try my infamous pumpkin pie but I’ll also pass on the secret recipe to you!” While Yamato’s and Rin’s faces lit up, Kakashi grimaced. “You do know that I suck at baking, right?” he asked under his breath and Gai let out a thundering laugh.
“Well, then you better make sure not to poison anyone in the process,” Gai chuckled, giving Kakashi a pat on the shoulder. “And now I’ll serve the pumpkin pie!”
With these words, Gai disappeared into his living room and they all took a seat at the table, curiously glancing at the variety of dishes Gai had already served. “You’re one lucky woman,” Genma said to Rin who was sitting next to him, the jack-o-lantern sitting in her lap.
She gave him a playful nudge and grinned. “Well, I’ll be sure to share my reward with you guys,” she said with a soft smile and Yamato agreed empathetically. Kakashi however just grinned at them mischievously and shook his head.
“You do you but I won’t share with anyone,” he said grinning but Genma noticed his quick glance at Yamato and suddenly he was sure that there was at least one person Kakashi would’ve shared with had he not found a token himself. He chuckled to himself and exchanged a look with Raidou who was also eying Kakashi and Yamato with a smile.
“What do you think?” he whispered so that only Raidou could hear him. “How long until one of them asks the other out?”
Raidou shrugged with a smile but before he could reply, Gai appeared in the opened patio door, holding the biggest cake pan Genma had ever seen. They all stared at him in surprise and Gai seemed to relish the moment before he stepped towards the table, placing the enormous pumpkin pie in the middle of the table.
“Seems like I haven’t been entirely honest with you guys,” he said with a grin. “Of course, there is enough pumpkin pie for all of you! And now enjoy the feast with the power of youth, my friends!”

oc | gen, slight genrai word count: 0.8k
While they're recovering from the Sound Four, Genma and Raidou get a visit in the hospital late one night.
Raidou nearly jumped out of his skin when he saw a ghostly figure walk past his bed - too tired and a little out of it on painkillers to think straight - but when he heard Genma's bed creak and the sound of his voice asking someone if they came here directly from a mission, and the quiet monotone that followed, he relaxed a little.
Even through the curtains separating their sections, Raidou could tell his childhood friend was consoling a shinobi he had become very familiar with over the years, still in uniform and a little filthy. Genma was scolding him for trekking dirt into a hospital and that he didn't have to cry over small potatoes. The reassurance that the blood on his clothes wasn't his didn't help in the slightest.
He couldn't see his face but heard the hoarse responding, "I'm not." Raidou could imagine the kind of expression the young man made, the kind he always had whenever Genma got hurt, and smiled a bit.
Eventually, Shiranui was able to convince Taeru to go home, clean up, and rest - best not bring germs and dried blood with him on his next visit, right? He must be exhausted, too. The tokujo were graced with the peace and quiet of their room once more after Raidou teased a little Genma about having such a doting baby brother. He was told to shut up and go back to sleep.
In the morning, the men are greeted with pumpkin broth alongside their expected hospital slop. The attending nurse chews Tae out for not letting anyone treat his wounds until after his visit and he pretends not to notice the heat of Genma's stare.
Tae gets round two of scolding after she leaves and Genma lays into him about the importance of wound care while apologizing to Raidou for not knowing what he liked to eat - getting just Gen-nii's favorites instead; his ear was twisted for not listening.
Genma makes a remark that he's only 30 and going to have grey hairs because of this little twerp, Tae's mumbled response was that he was taller anyway but even if he did, it'd mean they'd match. Raidou thinks rhetorically between bites of bread if Tae thought being cute would get him out of trouble.
The answer is apparently yes, since - although exasperated - Genma's expression softens still, and with a sigh, he tells the young man to sit on the floor so he can braid his hair.
It's not like it's the first time Raidou's been privy to moments like this; small bubbles of peace between their bustling, dangerous lives as shinobi. All of them were were aware that at any moment, all of it could be taken away. Hell, the reason Genma and Raidou were here in the first place was because they were defeated by Orochimaru's monstrous henchmen. The fact that they were so young stung both in the way that their opponents were just kids and that they were defeated. They weren't technically full jonin, just tokujo, but it still stung.
He wondered if those kids were Tsunade sent would be alright.
Tuning back into the idle conversation, Raidou watched his best friend carefully part and braid the younger man's hair. Genma mentioned how long it'd gotten, asking if he was taking care of himself properly - Tae's response was simply a low hum with his eyes closed.
Ahh, that must've felt nice, then.
Raidou briefly imagined what Genma's fingers running through his own hair would be like, but with his brother here all that produced was the unflattering mental image of himself with long hair in a comical way. He shook the thought away immediately.
His gaze turned to the two other men. It's not an unfamiliar sight; Genma's been tying Tae's hair since it was long enough to tie, long enough to cause the boy distress, and now as he's reclaiming his self image. Raidou was always in the periphery, as his older brother's - Gen-nii's - best friend. The comfortable quiet is nice, he thinks to himself.
It's nice enough for Raidou to reach over to try and pat his junior's head (although Namiashi was technically outranked), his expression the most peaceful it's looked in a long time; but that's disturbed as his wrist is held inches away and Tae asks what he's doing.
Raidou tries to awkwardly sputter his way through an explain for his actions, something about feeling the right moment - looking to his best friend in the other hospital bed for help. It felt as though he'd been rejected from petting a stray, or maybe an affectionate housecat who was sweet with only certain people and hissed at the rest. He could make a guess as to who he was right now.
Though all Genma does is take a second to hold the senbon away from his mouth, then laugh at his friend's discomfort under his baby brother's typical intense, off-putting gaze.
Heat slowly creeping up to his ears from both embarrassment and the sight of Genma's full-chested laughter, even if the cost was being hospitalized and wanting the earth to swallow himself whole, Raidou didn't mind moments like these.

slides in with a crosscanon crackship bc that's how i roll: yusuke kitagawa/raidou kuzunoha (also i enjoy smooshing together crosscanon peeps thinking how they'd mesh if they actually met...)
send me the rarest pair you can think of and I'll tell you if I ship it and how I think it can work
ooooh not something i've considered before! i think it could be interesting, and it's plausible enough within the universe for raidou to end up in the p5 timeline for some length of time (intentionally or otherwise), and i can imagine how fascinated yusuke would be to meet someone from nearly a century ago - and someone who can see demons at that!! all the PTs would probably absolutely overwhelm raidou trying to figure him out lmao but i can see yusuke being particularly quick to try and spend time with him and get to know him. meanwhile raidou... he has a pretty high tolerance for eccentricity and i think he'd be pretty easily dragged into yusuke's shenanigans/nude posing/etc, and i can see him finding him charming (and wanting to try and do something about his dire finances, given that that would be the biggest reminder of his own time of anything here.) yusuke's eccentricity might actually make him a bit easier for raidou to get comfortable with than the other PTs at the start, because there's something kind of classic/timeless about his vibe compared to a lot of the others being very much Modern Teenagers.
there'd be a lot of room for them to genuinely bond given the opportunity too, i think, because despite the vast difference in specific circumstances, yusuke's complicated feelings about madarame and about being seen as a tool to be discarded by the closest thing to living family he has would be something raidou would have some Thoughts about... also the dead mom issues... man
i can definitely see some interesting potential here with the right setup!!

this is gonna sound weird af but i love the japanese voice acting for raidou. his voice is just. really soft and quiet and that really fits his design. also makes him sound a bit shy which fits in its own special way, at least given how he acts in the manga. (his english dub is solid too! been a couple years but still rest in peace billy kametz you did awesome.)
love gouto’s japanese dub too!! i kinda prefer the english dub since he sounds pretty close to salem saberhagen (which i always imagined him sounding like) but it’s still so fitting (and also apparently his va voiced that one hot dude from guilty gear)

What's the mun's & Vivian's secret for coming up with such cute nicknames?
UNPROMPTED ASKS. » always accepting!
That's honestly such a good question... but you might be surprised to learn coming up with nicknames doesn't come as easily to me as it does to Vivian or Kobato. Like, if I'm not consulting this list or this site for ideas, I would usually shoehorn in nickname suffixes Vivian had ended up using in the past. Like, for example, she once called a muse by the name of Raidou 'Rai-berry', so I would end up parroting potential nicknames in my head with unique suffixes she had used, whether it be 'berry', 'puff', 'bar', 'bean', and so, I would end up going with the one that sounds the best or one that sounds the most like a snack item to me, because Vivian herself is zany enough to come up with the most ridiculous yet adorable nicknames. But if neither of those work out, I would be like, 'okay, do I shorten this name or make it longer? Do I combine first and last name together? Or can I get away with repeating one part of the name twice, like how some fans would nickname Rhianna Riri?'
Meanwhile, when it comes to Kobato, though, I refer to the nicknames he had canonically called the Go-Home Club members (Gin = Noto Gin in Japanese and Ginoto in English localization, Marie = Mari-Mari, Sasara = Nee-san in Japanese, Lady in English localization, Shota = Gonta in Japanese and Slow-ta in English localization, Niko = Niko-chan, Kiriko = Kiri-chan in Japanese and Kiri in English localization, Ryuto = Chibi-chan in Japanese and Pipsqueak in English localization), the pet names he has canonically called other girls (Honey in Japanese and Honey bunny in English, baby, babe) and keep in mind the fact he's Japanese... meaning he wouldn't realistically add 'kins' at the end of somebody's name like Vivian would. But when it comes to giving nicknames for men, I struggle a lot, so I would consult letslearnslang.com for things to potentially call other male muses.
As for how Vivian comes up with nicknames... I imagine with how much manga, anime, and games she consumes, she kind of picked up on nicknaming conventions other characters would use. And because she isn't neurotypical by any means, her brain tends to easily remember how characters would address others and even names they call their pets, so due to the fact there was a cat named Karupin in 'The Prince of Tennis' and @spiritpyro's Hayate very much gave off feral cat vibes upon first meeting, she automatically was all like, 'Ah, I'll call him Hayupin from now on'. For @mugunghwc's Mako, though, Vivian's mind immediately drifted off to mapo tofu, because to her, he was 'spicy', but calling him 'Mapo' wouldn't have been as cute. so she ended up shortening it to 'Mappi', while @badheart's Fang was practically nicknamed after spaghetti based on it being something she had for lunch. Either way, it usually differs depending on what a muse's name is.
