unlovable | 𝐞𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐞 𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐱 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫
summary you are Dustin’s older sister, you and Eddie used to be boyfriend and girlfriend, but haven't spoke to each other, until your little brother messes things up. (5.3k)
warnings fem!reader, fluff, hurt/comfort, exes! in love, mutual pining, yearning etc, slowburn exes to lovers, idiots in love!!!, panic attack tw!, english is not my first language so I apologise if there’s some mistakes, not proof read!
“I told you I don’t wanna hear anything more about it!” You whined once again, as he was still babbling away.
“Oh, get over it!” He finally snapped. “It’s been more than a year!” He screamed at you, not with anger, but with resignation in his voice.
“Don’t…”
“I… Look… You only have to drive me there, you can go later, I’ll call you when I need to come back and I’ll make sure you don’t even cross paths with him… Please?” His eyes looked through his eyebrows, begging, needing a yes.
“Dust…” You try to change his mind once again, knowing damn well that he had won, once again. “Okay…” As your hands rested on your side in full resignation, his went up in celebration, smiling and screaming thank you, thank you.
How could you say no to him? It wasn’t your fault that he had grown so fond of him while you two were dating, and it’s not his fault that you broke things off… Well, you didn’t actually. How could you?
That thought crossed your mind often, how could you? or, in other words how could he? You had loved him like you never had anyone else, and he still couldn’t fight for you two to stay together. When he decided to stay quiet, and grow distant when you needed him close and by your side, it had been his choice.
It’s not like it was your fault, or his. It’s just that sometimes, loving someone is not enough.
And it wasn’t enough, even if it killed you, you needed space to grow, he needed his space anyway. And it was hard, knowing that your brother hung out with him regularly, crossing looks with him when he dropped Dustin off, sadness in his eyes, remorse in yours. It was hard, but it was getting bearable.
You had agreed to be on good terms for Dustin’s sake, so that’s what you did.
The sound of the door closing snapped you back into reality, making you sit up once again, back straighter. Your mirror propped up in front of your bed, you looked at yourself, remembering his touch anywhere the sun kissed your skin.
You took a deep breath, and muttered to yourself okey, let’s do this then. So you did. You stood up, opened your wardrobe and thought what to wear exactly, deciding that if he had to see you, you might as well look good and take yourself out on a date later, perhaps to that new coffee shop that had opened down the street.
Be as it may, you had dressed yourself comfortably enough to not be cold in autumn weather, and you looked at your face once more.
Lipstick, that’s what you needed, it always made you feel good on days you were down, and a little boost is what you needed now.
Dustin was waiting for you downstairs, smile big and bright, with your car keys in his hand.
“You're not driving.” You said to him, coldly, almost mocking him.
“Yeah, I know. Soon enough though!” He screamed back cheerfully. You nodded in response as you unlocked the car.
You didn’t have to ask him where to, you had memorized long ago how to get to his home, even some shortcuts, for when you were a little bit tipsy and didn’t want Hopper to stop you and give you the talk. You smiled at the thought of that, and Dustin seemed to notice, as your right hand left the wheel for just a second to mess with your hair a bit, leaving your face free of cover.
The sun was setting once you parked your car, and the sky shined bright with a beautiful sunset, soft oranges mixing with pink clouds. You had to step out and take a good look at it.
Dustin opened your door for you, he always did, with a big smile he waited for your shy thank you, which you gave accompanied by a little ruffle of his hair. He nudged you with his head, making you both smile as you looked up.
“Hey, thanks for bringing me here.” He said, you could tell that he was being extremely honest.
“Anything for you, kid.” You replayed back, your hands fidgeting with an unlit cigarette. “When do I pick you up?” You asked him, your head lowering to look at him.
“I can bring him back.” Eddie’s voice had appeared, and with it, the hairs on the back of your neck stood up.
“Hi” You muttered shyly, as you spun around to look at him.
His hair was as wild as ever, shade so dark it contrasted with his pale skin. Old Iron Maiden shirt with holes in the neck laid perfectly on top of his chest, hugging him in all the right places. Your eyes looked down, checking him out. His jeans still hugged his thighs just as good as you remember. But what you didn’t notice was that he was doing the exact same thing.
He had to take a moment to look at you, the whole you. Your legs crossed over one another, accentuating even more your figure, your arms across your chest, making it a center of his attention, worsened by the fact that your breath had sped up, and your breathing made you move your chest up and down fast. Your exposed neck had made him remember how much he enjoyed biting you, so he ended up biting his own lip when his eyes met yours.
It was the first time you were talking. And so much time had passed.
“Hi” He said back, softly, a smile forming in his lips.
Dustin excused himself to get inside, clumsy, and admiring the fact that you two were actually talking again, he was mesmerized and he obviously spied on you two from the crack of Eddie’s entrance door.
His hand reached in his pocket, lighter coming out, he offered it to you. So you nod as you let your cigarette linger in between your lips, feeling the warmth of the flame as you are at a loss for words.
Not too sure what to say, or do.
“You don’t have to bring him back, I can come and get him…” You say, as your eyes leave the floor and look back up at him, nodding at Dustin’s way. He shrugs in response.
“I don’t mind. And I know you don’t like driving at night.” He answers, with his hands buried in his back pockets.
And maybe it’s the fact that he remembered such a stupid detail, but a soft smile forms on your lips.
“Okay then, thanks.” You answer back. Looking at how much you had left to smoke, knowing that once you finish, so did this conversation. He seemed to understand as much.
“Henderson?” He begged, his eyebrows raised as he looked deep into your eyes.
“Munson?” You answer back, cooly, calmly. Smoke escaping from your lips.
“It really is good to see you.” He admits, smug in his face.
You smile in response, a short nod to him as you inhale again, speaking to him as smoke comes out and he’s lost in you again.
“Yeah, it is.” You smile in response. “I’m a sight to be seen.” You mock, as you make you both chuckle softly, a distance still visible between both of you.
“You've been taking care of yourself?” He asks, a bit of worry could be heard.
“Yeah, I always am, Munson.” You take your final drag as you smile at him, closing your eyes so smoke won’t get inside of them.
“Continue to do so then. You look good.” He whispers the last part, but you always had a good ear, so you nod as you smile and open the door to your car.
“Yeah, so do you.” You say as the engine starts to roar.
-
“So… You just talked?” Steve laid on your couch, Red-vine in his mouth, pulling it to pieces with his teeth.
“Small talk.” You said, no thoughts behind your eyes, you walked up to him “Move” You told him as you signaled moving your hand side to side. His legs reached the floor.
“Ouch.” He said in response, giving you some of the candy. “Small talk… That hurt?” He asked, eyebrow raised, eyes meeting your calm gaze.
“Not as much as I thought it might.” You admit to him. Your head is finally resting on the couch. Eyes closed as you remember him, and his stupid smile. “Fucker told me “it was good to see me” and that “I looked good.” “ You explain to Steve as you air-quote your way through. The sweet taste of the Red-Vines hitting your tongue.
“Shit.” He said in response. You felt him standing up. “Wanna talk about it?” You opened your eyes, seeing him reach over to the water.
“Noisy.” You tease as you accept the cup. “Not really” You add as an answer to his question.
“O-kay” He said, extending the first syllable. Giving you his blanket as he pulled another one from his side. “So, what’s it gonna be today?”
“Labyrinth?”
“I’m not feeding into your Bowie obsession.”
“M’kay. Goonies?”
“Don’t wanna babysit now.”
“Rude. Okay. You choose then, I don’t wanna think.” You finally let out, the heels of your hands covering your eyes in frustration.
A beat. Steve could be heard messing around the VCR, his jeans ruffling as he moved, until his body laid beside you, his arm cuddling you into his chest, as you finally rested.
Breakfast Club started, and you muttered a thank you.
Steve kissed your forehead.
Steve had always been there for you, thick and thin. Just like you were there when he had a crush on Robin, or even now, when he was falling for Nancy again. Funny enough, you both seemed to be in the same sinking boat. As you usually were.
Your eyelids were starting to feel heavier by the minute, and you were determined to not fall asleep for once, even if you were really, truely, deeply comfortable under the warm blankets.
The movie was about to end, and your eyelids feel heavy. Still, your eyes opened wide as a noisy van parked outside, with blaring loud music as it screeched.
“Munson?” Steve asked, rubbing his eyes while still half asleep.
“Guess so.” You muttered, looking out the window, stretching your arms under the blanket that you were now sharing with Steve.
Sure enough, the long haired boy popped out, helping your brother to jump out of the passenger’s seat, and for what felt for a moment, looked straight at you, a frown appearing in his face. Your eyes left him, as your mouth closed, and minted, you followed Dustin until you heard the door rattling.
“Hey Dust.” You said, your voice raspy from falling half asleep.
“Hey Henderson.” Steve said after you, a hand raised so he could high five.
“Hey” He said back, tiredness coming from his voice. “Going to bed, is that okay?” He asked as he reached the first step of the stairs.
“Yeah, of course.” You smiled at him. He nodded and started to go up. “Good night!” You screamed at him.
“Night!” He yelled back.
“I should go too. It’s late.” Steve said, looking at his wrist watch, you nodded in response as he tore the blanket away from your body.
“I’ll walk you out.” You say, your voice is still raspy. Yawning as you lazily stretch.
He offers you his hand, so he can pull you up, laughing as he does, your feet reach the cold, and you smile. You open the door, and to your surprise, Eddie is still there.
Though you pay him no mind, your eyes meet before hugging Steve goodbye.
“You’ll bring the tape back?” He asks, nodding to the living room, and trying to stall as he sees how nervous you are all of a sudden.
“Yeah, drop it off before work.” You smile.
He winks at you as he hugs you once again, and you both say goodnight.
You’re left there, on your porch, arms crossed on your chest, looking at a speechless Eddie, who just shakes his head in shock at the image of you two together.
“What are you-” He cuts you off, in his voice you notice, he is just as hurt as he is angry.
“You and Harrington?”
“What?”
“Are you serious?” His face flinched as he looked deeper into your eyes, not mad, that might not be the right word, but hurt didn’t make it justice to the way he felt either.
“Eddie, what are you doing here?” You mutter, your arms falling to your side in exhaustion, not really following the reason of his outburst.
“I… Dustin…”
“Yeah, Dustin. Sure.” You were growing cold now. He was doing what he usually did, burying everything that he actually needed or wanted to say, and you resorted to your all ways, though your voice growing tired, you agreed with what he was saying even if you didn’t, avoiding a major fight.
You locked eyes once again. Your arms wrapped with one another, sitting on top of your chest, looking down at him from your porch, as you bite your lower lip. His hands deep in his pockets, shoulders raised, looking up at you, his eyes glistening as he contemplated you, not really sure what he had to say.
“Good Night then, Eddie.” You said, your voice coming out thinner than you had wished.
“Yeah, good night…” He replayed as he stepped back, looking at you as you shutted the door and went back inside. Speechless once again.
-
Infuriated might be a good word to describe the way you were still feeling weeks later.
You did doubt yourself, and replayed the moment a million times over and over in your head, but everytime you did, you are left with the same thoughts.
Why the Hell did Eddie care if you hung out with Steve?
Steve had always been your friend, and he knew that, shit, even when you used to go out with him, Steve would tag along and eventually became friends with him, Eddie even invited him to some D&D sessions he did. Eddie never had had a problem, or had been jealous, but then again, why do you care so much? You two were nothing. You had been friends. You had been lovers. Now you were just somebody you had once loved.
And if you were honest with yourself, which you tried, you really didn’t feel like it could be spoken out loud, a fear of it being said, making all of this feeling you had materialize into something real, something you weren’t too sure you could be able to live with or act on.
And again, being in a room getting ready with Nancy and Robin just made it all worse.
Not because you disliked them, or didn’t enjoy their company, but because a tiny little voice inside your head was screaming to be heard, and you were only getting quieter, and quieter.
And the fact that Robin was trying to make Nancy speak about her love life in an interest to help Steve was only driving you completely more mad. As if you had no other option but to scream. So ever so subtly you walked over the stereo and made it louder, so some of the noise could be drowned out.
It seemed to work.
At least it did long enough to finish getting ready. Hair was teased where it needed to be, your eyes were decorated with eyeliner and eyeshadow, and your lips, as always, were in blood red.
You were still quiet when you got on the backseat of the car, as you looked through the window, waiting to see which house it was this weekend. Hawkins had little to choose from anyways, and teen parties were an open invitation for everyone.
Downtown, in god-knows-who’s house, you got lost as you usually did when too many things were going on. Overwhelmed didn’t come close to explaining it.
The music felt too loud. The people were too close to one another and to you. They were yelling too. Smoke filled the air enough so the colours were dimmed. You could hardly breath without feeling as your chest was closing. And none of your friends seemed to be there with you.
You needed to get out. As if air was escaping your lungs, your chest felt heavier with every breath you exhaled, a shaking hand grasped your chest, and it took you a while to realize it was your own. You were disoriented, so you ran until you found a safe exit. A backdoor that nobody seemed to be close to.
The cold air hitted you slowly, as your body collapsed on the floor, sitting down the dirty stairs. Your hands searched for your neck, scratching it as you realized, the one who you heard crying was you. The information seemed to come to you backwards.
So maybe that’s why you don’t really register it as it happens.
You do hear a familiar voice, soft and calm, and you feel hands wrapping your wrist, and as your eyes look at them, you see his rings. So when your head travels up to meet his eyes, a soft smiling Eddie is there, whispering something you can’t quite figure out yet.
In this instance, the only thing that you can actually feel is his touch, the contradiction of his rough hands being so soft, the coldness of his rings tracing a pattern on the back of your hands. As soon as one of them leaves yours to tuck a piece of hair behind your ear, your attention is now back at him, a soft smile on his lips as he looks deep into your eyes, you feel his fingers slowly find their way on the back of your neck as he begins to whisper.
“Five things you can see.” He tells you slowly, softly, with no evident worry in his voice, even if he’s screaming on the inside.
“Wh- What?” You manage to let out as your breathing is still fast and tears still come out. He just nods and gives you a reassuring smile. You nod in return as you start looking around. “The tree.”
“That’s one.”
“Leaf.”
“That’s two.”
“Trash”
“Okay, three.” He says in between a soft chuckle.
“My…my shoe.”
“One more?” He begs.
“You.” You say as you look at him.
“Four things you can touch.” He says once again, his hand that was on your neck travelling down again to go with his left hand, holding yours tightly and softly at the same time.
“Uh…” You try to not get stressed as you look around, and can’t seem to find anything, until you look down and see his knee touching your leg, and you begin to feel the pressure it leaves back into your body. “Your knee.”
“Mmh.” He nods, as he bites his lower lip. “Go on.”
“My jeans.”
“That’s two.”
“Your hands.” He nods as his fingers stroke your skin. “And your rings.”
“Good.” He says reassuringly. “You’re doing great. Now, three things you can hear.”
“The music.” You spat out, still feeling like it’s loud.
“Yeah..”
“My voice.” He nods again as you blink slowly, regaining a sort of control of your own body, and where you were and what was going on. “And your voice.”
“Two things you can smell? Please?” Your eyes dart back to the ground, an unfinished cigarette still burning.
“The smoke.” You say as you point it. “And you.” You say as your head moves back to him, realizing again, how close he actually was, close enough to remember the way he always smells of sandalwood because he always burns it.
He smiles at you. A true smile, one that lets you know he remembers how you always complained about his room being too smoky because of his fixation with incense, and how you always begged him to open the window just three inches.
“One thing you can taste.” He says now, with his voice sounding as he always did, happy, relaxed, playful.
“Um..” You could say what you wanted to, you wanted to say you, but didn’t dare to do so, so you just looked around, until you saw Eddie reach down on his front pocket and grab two more cigarettes as he offered it to you with a peace-making smile. “That”
“Good.” He mutters as he lights it for you, before his own. You look down as you accept it, taking in the smoke to slowly release it, your shoulders finally relaxing. You feel his arm behind your back, a familiarity in the way he rests invades you again.
“Thank you Edds…” You say, as you look back into his maroon eyes. They shine as they look back at you.
“Anything you need…” He says in response softly. “I didn’t know you still got them.”
“I don’t… Well, it’s been a while since I had one.” You say as you both look at each other. Your eyes looking down at his lips involuntarily. So does he.
“I’m sorry to hear that.”
“I’m sorry you had to see it.” He shakes his head no. “But I’m glad you were here.” You confess, a soft smile forming in your lips before you can avoid it. A moment of true sincerity and vulnerability shared with him.
“D’you wanna go home?” He asks, as he nudges your leg with his knee.
“Nancy’s car so… I’ll just wait out here.” You replay as you nudge his back with your shoulder, his curly hair bouncing as you hit him playfully.
“Nah, I’ll drive you, come on.” He said as he stood up, offering his hand to you so you could stand up.
You know that taking it is a promise, a truce, a trip to the past in a way.
And you don’t care, you don’t care at all.
-
It was impressive in a way, how it stayed as it always had. It smelt the same, it was in the same neatly organized mess, even the stains seemed to be formed in the same patterns as it did when you came last time.
It was embarrassing to have to be here, but thank god he told you to come over. And you swear you grabbed your keys, and you tried to climb the windows, but your mom had the brillant idea to actually lock them down today, and she was out of town, and you had no idea where Dustin actually was so… In the end, and as he putted, it was better if you slept in his couch than on your porch.
But it did feel weird, or funny. Seeing Wayne’s mugs again, smelling the sandalwood that came from his room, and the little bit of dust that the sofa let out every time the cushions were used or moved.
A year had passed yet time seemed to not affect the Munson household.
“I um… I kept some of your things so…” He said as he emerged back from his room. A smile appeared on your face before you could help it.
“You did?” You asked, looking down at what he was carrying.
“Um, yeah, couldn’t let…” He didn’t finish the sentence, thought he didn’t have to, you couldn’t seem to let go either. In his hands, the shirt you always borrowed, some of your presumed lost underwear, and your backup toilet bag.
“Thank you Edds…” You said for what felt like the millionth time this evening. He shook his head as he gave it to you, and headed to the kitchen.
“You can uh, take a shower or anything you need, I’ll make you some tea yeah?” You nodded, as you saw him smile. “You still like it without milk?” He asked loudly from the kitchen as you passed through.
“Yeah…” You tell him, and as you close the door behind you, you can’t help but whisper. “You remember.”
And the memories keep hitting you as you let the hot water run down your body.
Eddie brushing your hair while he sang under his breath and you followed along. You washing his hair everytime the two of you happen to share the space where you where standing, and how often he would pull you closer when you had to rinse so he would be cold -and how it always ended in moaning and laughter-. You were blushing at the memory, even when you were putting the comfy clothes back on, you remember losing the little thong, and how he threw it away across the room before going down on you.
Hair still wet and slightly knotted, you stepped out to the living room, comfy and warm clothes on.
“Hey Moon..” You say before you realized you called him by his old pet name you used to use. He smiles fondly at that, so your only reaction is to blush as you look back at him. “I um… I couldn’t find the hair brush…”
“Shit yeah, it’s in my room, I’ll get it.” He says as he rushes to find it, you follow him this time, and are shocked to find that he still has a picture of the two of you on his wall. It had always been where your eyes looked first, maybe it was muscle memory at this point. But next to his Corroded Coffin sprayed-old bed sheet, close by his bed, there you were, you were kissing his cheek as he had his arm wrapped around your waist, and he was smiling at the ground.
When Eddie looked back at you, he looked at it too and gave you a coy smile, you smiled big showing your teeth, pink invading your face, just like he had in his.
“You still keep it?” You ask, as you point at it and look back at him, noticing how he anxiously plays with the hairbrush now.
“I yeah… I mean… forget it.” He begins to walk back to the sofa, and he sits down, clearly embarrassed now.
So you did what you always did, you followed him and sat next to him. And maybe it really was muscle memory for him, or just the fact that it all felt like it did before, the tension, the electricity, the care for one another, but he started brushing your hair before you could say anything else, or before he even realized what he was really was doing, but once he did, since he didn’t hear any complaints from you, he just kept going.
“Why do you still have it, Edds?” You ask in a whisper of a voice, because honestly, it felt absurd to talk at a normal volume in such an intimate moment.
“Why do you wanna know that, my love?” my love. It rings in your ears for a second longer. He hasn’t called you that since you left, and hearing his voice say it again, in such a warm tone, only made your skin tingle and fill with soft goosebumps, as wet hair hitted it. You had your back turned to him, and his fingers were cautious to not pull the hair in any way that would hurt you, leaving it softly once that section was brushed.
“I just… please?” You said as you moved a bit to quickly glance at him, a soft smile appearing in his face, his brown eyes looking black since his pupils were bigger than before.
“What do you want me to say…”
You waited in silence, knowing that once he was finished with the last strand of hair you could turn to actually face him, to actually look him in the eyes, to for once, talk things out.
So when you felt the coldness of your wet hair hit the shirt and the back of your neck, and his fingers playfully shaking it a bit, as he used to do it every time he did this for you, you rotated your body slowly, your leg completely touching his, you were both dangerously close to one another, though it didn’t feel like a problem, much to different, in felt good, in felt like it was natural.
With just a little move of your head, he knew you wanted an answer, an honest one at that, so he nodded before he opened his mouth again, looking at you before doing so. His eyes stopping for a second too long on your lips, losing themselves in them for more time than it was allowed.
“I can’t seem to let you go.” He declared, honestly, with his voice shaking. “I regret what I did, I regret not saying anything when I could, I regret not being with you. I regret not loving you as much as you truly deserved to be loved, but I could never, ever regret being with you. You have been the best thing that has ever happened to me, even if you don’t feel the same way about me I…” His eyes were glossy with held-back tears, though he was smiling as he said it all.
Your hand grabbed his, and both of your eyes looked down for a second. Yours stayed there as you began to talk, while he had only had eyes for you.
“I never could regret you Eddie.” You say sincerely. Your voice breaks as you feel everything come up again, trying not to actually cry. “You were… You are everything I’ve ever wanted…” You confess looking back up at him, smiling just as much as you do. “You did love me, I know that, but, by the end, I didn’t feel loved, you made me feel like I was unlovable… And that… That hurt so much.” You declare, breaking down, a few tears escaping, as you meet his sight again.
“I’m sorry, I really am my love. But please, please…” He begged as he squeezed your hand ever so slightly. “Believe me, you are the most lovable person I know, and you deserve everything you want and need, and I’m sorry I couldn’t give it to you… I… I wish I could, I don’t know… I just…”
“What?” You asked as his left thumb whipped a tear out of your cheek, and you buried your face in his palm.
“I wish I could prove it to you now.”
It takes a moment to understand what he is actually saying. And once you do, for once in your life, you take initiative.
Your hand leaves his touch, and travels up his arm until it reaches the back of his neck, his eyes open a bit at that, and you take that as an invitation. You move your body closer to him, so much so that you sit in his lap, pulling him closer, finally, after what felt like an eternity, you kiss him. And even if your heart is beating so fast it feels like it could escape your body, you feel how he is just has nervous as you actually are, not because he hesitates on kissing you back, but because you can actually hear his rapid heartbeat, and you can feel the way his hand grip your body, a long kiss that says I missed you. His arms wrap your waist tightly, yours grab his neck, while your body pushes his back to the couch, grinding as the kiss deepens.
You can feel him smiling as he kisses you just as intensely as you are. And you are smiling just as big.
You need to stop for a second, to actually get your breath back. But you don’t pull back, your forehead touching his, your nails screeching his skin in loving strokes, his fingers rubbing your back in true disbelief.
“Don’t fuck this up again. Please.” You tell him, with your eyes still closed.
“I won’t, I’m not losing you again.”

Cause I Believe~ 1~ Older E.M
Summary : You move next door to Eddie Munson, and he welcomes you with his friends.
Author's Note : I had so much fun writing this.
Older Eddie
Boxes crowd the porch as you fumble with the last big box, the air thick with the smell of fresh paint and sun-baked wood.
A figure leans on the fence in the upstairs complex, a cigarette hanging loose from his lips. Eddie Munson. Scruffy beard, long brown hair dusted with silver, tattoos inked into his skin like a personal history. His gaze lingers, unsettling yet intriguing.
" Welcome to the shit hole" His voice carries a gravely edge but he doesn't turn to glance at you.
You offer him an uneasy smile, unsure about the way he stood, " Thanks?"
The air hung heavy. He takes long drags of his cigarettes, eyes moving slowly towards you and looking away quickly.
" What's with the box? You hiding some toys or your stash or porno magazines?" He chuckled, teasing.
" Just some junk" you shrugged.
" You must have a lot of junk, then"
Before you answer him, a group calls out his name rounding the corner. Your eyebrows knit together not really recognizing them.
" Oh! Eddie's got a new neighbor!"
Dustin nudges Mike. “Think they’ll survive living next to Eddie?”
“Probably not,” Robin chirps, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
Eddie rolls his eyes but can’t hide the twitch of a smile.
“Don’t mind him,” Steve nudges Eddie, “he mostly bites.”
" I'm Steve" he offers his hands out. Steve had chestnut hair, long, some strand hanging from his forehead creating a shadow like and you can see chest hair peeking out of his shirt. He sported a scruff on his face and glasses. He was kinda cute.
" Y/N" you shook his hand.
" Stop flirting with my neighbor, Harrington" Eddie mumbles loud enough for Steve to hear.
Steve chuckled, raising his eyebrow. " Aw, don't worry Munson. She's all yours." Eddie rolled his eyes.
Eddie flicks the ash from his cigarette, crossing his arms defiantly. “Yeah, right. I’m just here to enjoy this shit hole of a town."
Dustin leans in, eyes wide with curiosity. “Seriously, though. Are you settling in? Or are you just gonna stare at Eddie all day?”
Your eyes widen at his question, red appears on your cheeks. You didn't mean to stare at Eddie. But he was really pretty, he must of had all the girls in high school.
“I just… You know, boxes.”
Robin snorted."Boxes? That's your excuse?" She chuckles, her eyes glinting with amusement. “If I were you, I’d be more interested in our resident rockstar over here.”
Eddie rolls his eyes and pushes Robin shoulder playfully, " Hey, now Buckley."
Robin sidesteps, laughter spilling into the cool afternoon breeze. “What? It’s true! Just look at those tattoos. You could practically sell tickets.”
Eddie snorts, shaking his head. " You do know I know how to play guitar and sing." “Yeah? Never heard of a tattooed rockstar that could play a mean bone flute,” Dustin quips, nudging Eddie with his elbow. The laughter crescendos around you, an infectious rhythm that sets the tone.
" Where you all friends in high school?" you asked.Mike scratches the back of his head, glancing at the others. “More like we became friends through, you know, monster hunting and—”
“Way too many Dungeons & Dragons sessions,” Dustin interjects, eyes sparkling with nostalgia.
" What did you mean monster hunting? Like hunting for animals or what?" Dustin beams like he’s about to share a great secret. “Not animals—like, actual monsters. We faced Demogorgons, Mind Flayers, all that fun stuff!” He gestures grandly.
" What?" you looked at them strangly. " What are those?" Eddie notices your eyes look wide a bit. Eddie chuckles, leaning against the fence, arms still crossed. “You probably think we’re a bunch of lunatics right now.”
“Maybe?” A nervous laugh escapes you, face still warm from the conversation.
" You all look nice and welcoming, but you look trouble Eddie.." Eddie lifts an eyebrow, the corner of his mouth tugging upwards. “Trouble? Nah, just misunderstood.” He offers a mock bow, the cigarette dangling precariously.
" I'm sure your great, Eddie" you brushed a piece of hair behind your ear while holding the box still. Eddie's smirk deepens, a playful challenge flickering in his eyes. “Great? That’s quite the compliment. Do I look great?”
" I mean... fasinating.." Eddie leans closer, feigning a hurt expression. “Fascinating? That’s it? I was expecting ‘incredible’ or ‘magnificent.’” His lips twitch, barely holding back a grin.
“Right! I’m Dustin, this is Mike, and that’s Robin.” He gestures to each as if presenting trophies.
“Dustin,” you repeat, catching his infectious enthusiasm. “Nice to meet you all.”
Do you need help settling in?" Steve asked as he eyed you up and down, already developing a small crush. “Uh, sure,” you reply, eyeing the remaining boxes stacked like confounding towers. “I wouldn’t mind some extra hands.”
“Count me in!” Steve beams, as if he thrives on teamwork.
" I have things to do" Eddie says, not wanting to get close to you even though you seem nice. He didn't want to get close to you, as in a pretty girl like you.. he just can't. He never gets the girl. Eddie flicks his cigarette onto the ground, the ember glowing briefly before extinguishing under his boot. He scoffs lightly, folding his arms tighter.
“Yeah, right. Like you’re just going to sit back and let Harrington pullall the weight around here,” Robin challenges, her eyes narrowing at Eddie with a playful fire.
"I'm sure Eddie is doing his best estimate of a rockstar," Steve jabs, nudging Eddie with a grin.
“More like a rock!”Eddie narrows his eyes at Steve, a mock frown plastered on his face. “Rude. Rocks have feelings too, you know.”
" Some special rocks then" You laugh, the absurdity of it bubbling in your chest. “Maybe a rock that plays guitar?”
Eddie feigns a dramatic gasp. “Excuse me, that’s way too close to my personal brand.” He taps his temple, mocking a deep thought.
" Maybe those special rocks with have an album on your shelf as a trophy"Eddie glances at you, his eyes brightening for a fleeting moment. “An album? Now that’s not a bad idea. I could call it ‘Rock Solid.’”
Dustin bursts into laughter, slapping his knee. “
“I’d buy that album,” you shot back, your grin widening. Eddie watches, surprise etching across his face, an unfamiliar warmth creeping into his expression.
Eddie shakes his head, the charming banter swirling around him, but it feels like an echo slightly detached from his reality.
You swing open the weathered oak door to your apartment, gesturing for them to enter. Eddie lingers behind, his lean frame silhouetted against the twilight sky. He takes a long drag from his cigarette, exhaling a plume of silvery smoke that swirls in the cool evening air. His ring-adorned fingers grip the wrought iron fence, knuckles whitening with tension.
Stepping inside, your guests are enveloped by the warmth of your uniquely curated space. The apartment exudes a cozy, eclectic charm that defies conventional styles. Vintage photographs and vibrant art posters adorn the walls, each telling a fragment of your story. A plush, well-worn leather couch invites relaxation, its cushions adorned with an assortment of colorful throw pillows. The kitchen gleams with polished countertops and neatly arranged copper pots, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafting through the air, hinting at the culinary adventures to come.
A scattering of houseplants clung to the sunlight, their leaves glistening with vitality.
“Dude, this place is awesome!” Dustin exclaimed, eyes wide as he stepped into the cozy scene.
Thank you, I love to design and play with colors" you tell him. “Colors really pop,” Mike nods, glancing around the living room before zeroing in on the wall hung with eclectic art. “Did you do all this yourself?”
" Yeah, most of it. My mother used to be a painter.." Mike’s eyes soften, a flicker of understanding shining through. “That’s really cool. It’s got character, you know? Feels warm here.”
Robin eyes one of the paintings and it's you. " Did she paint this?" Your gaze follows Robin’s, landing on a vibrant portrait. You nod, the warmth of nostalgia washing over you. “Yeah, she did. It's one of my favorites. Captured me during a summer dance in our backyard.”
" I was ten there I believe. At least that was she told me. My mom alwasy thought I've held some magic when I danced, used to sing too..." you trailed. A soft smile dances across your lips, bittersweet memories surfacing.
"Are you going to give Eddie a run for his money? Be the new musician in the neighborhood?" Dustin asked. You chuckle, shaking your head at the absurdity. “Hardly. My dancing days are behind me, and I’m no rockstar.”
" You never know, you and Eddie could sing together one day." Steve suggests. Laughter erupts, threading through the air like a playful breeze.
" I stopped singing when my mother died.." you glanced down at your converse. Silence coated the room like a soft blanket, the lively chatter fading into a hush. A weight pressed into the air, heavy with understanding.
" She was the only one to believe in me. She said I had the most angelic voice she's ever heard. I used to put my little sister to bed singing her a bed time song..." Steve exchanges a glance with Mike, the lively energy of their previous banter dimming. Dustin shifts awkwardly, scratching the back of his head, as if trying to find a lighthearted comment.
" We're sorry, we didn't mean to bring anything up." You shake your head, a faint smile flickering back. “It’s okay. Just… sometimes things slip out.”
" That's also why I decided to move out, her funeral was... a month ago..." The room remains still, the weight of your words settling over the group like a thick fog. Dustin glances around, his youthful face painted with concern.
"Hey, we totally understand," Steve says, his voice low and steady.
“Whenever you’re ready to talk or just need to vent, we’re here.”
You nod slowly, appreciation swelling against the ache in your chest. “Thanks. It helps, really.”
" I hardly know you guys, too." The room buzzes with a peculiar intensity, a blend of sympathy.
“Yeah, but that’s how we roll around here,” Steve declares, leaning against the arm of the couch, arms crossed.
" We support one another" Dustin says. " We have each other's back" Robin adds. Eddie shifts his weight, the flicker of cigarette smoke dancing around him, creating an illusion of distance. Unbothered by the heaviness, he taps his fingers against his arm, a nervous gesture that breaks the stillness.
" Like a family" Eddie mumbles. Dustin leans back, nodding vigorously. “Exactly! And you’re part of it now. That is, if you can handle our weirdness.”
Hey!" Steve plafully glared as he pouted. You chuckle, warmth spreading through your chest.
" It's just might be what I need" you mumble, " It's been a long time since I've really smiled.." Dustin's eyes sparkle, a hint of mischief swirling within. “Then we have our mission! Operation Make Y/N Smile starts now!”
You chuckle at Robin’s exasperation, the tension in the room easing a fraction. “Okay, I appreciate the enYou chuckle at Robin’s exasperation, the tension in the room easing a fraction. “Okay, I appreciate the enthusiasm, but I do need to sort through this stuff.”
" By the way, what is a dingus?" you asked. Laughter erupts again, and for a moment, the heaviness lifts.
“Dingus?” Dustin’s eyes sparkle with glee.
“I think it’s a term of endearment,” Mike offers, grinning.
“It means youa bit of a goofball,” Steve chimes in, winking at Dustin. “That applies to all of us at some point.”
" You should get it tattooed then, Eddie" you playfully chuckled at him as a joke. Eddie raises an eyebrow, his expression shifting between mock horror and genuine intrigue. “A tattoo? Of ‘dingus’? That’s what I need, a permanent reminder of my goofball status.” He taps his chin, takingover his demeanor.
“I could design it,” you suggest, your voice light as you scan the room, feeling the infectious energy.
"Oh boy" Eddie mumbles as he walks into your apartment closing the door. Eddie leans his back against the door, arms crossed, eyes darting around the room. He takes in the vibrant colors, the warped frames holding photographs, each seeming to whisper stories of laughter and joy.
" What's the matter, Eddie? It's not dark and gloomy to your taste?" you asked.Eddie straightens, feigning a look of horror. “What? No skulls? No velvet curtains?” He gestures dramatically around the room. “What am I supposed to do with all this brightness? Wear sunglasses?”
"That looks like more of my bedroom thing" you smirked. Eddie throws his head back, laughter erupting from him as he steps deeper into your vibrant world. “Your bedroom must be a whole other gallery, then. I’m just picturing rainbows and unicorns.”
" I don't like pink, and I am not exactly a girly girl" you glance down at your Metallica worn shirt and black shorts with green converse. Eddie raises an eyebrow, his grin broadening. “Metallica, huh? I can get behind that. At least your style has some edge.” He takes a step closer, his interest igniting as he surveys your eclectic taste.
" Well I do ride a motorcycle. A harley" Eddie's eyes widen, a spark of genuine admiration flickering across his face. “A Harley? Now that’s pretty badass.” He shifts his weight, leaning in slightly. “What model?”
“Sportster,” you reply, a flicker of pride igniting in your chest. “Nothing crazy, but it gets me where I need to go.”
" I like you" Robin says as she pushes into your shoulder, " you're going to get along with us just fine. Another Eddie though." You chuckle, shaking your head. “Let’s not get carried away. I’m as much of a weirdo as you all are, but another Eddie? That’s a stretch.”
" Hey! I'm pretty great" Eddie puts a hand on his chest. “Sure you are, Munson,” Steve teases, leaning back against the couch with a satisfied grin. “Great at being a lovable weirdo. Best title ever.”
You open the box and it's full of your records you have collected. Vinyl records spill out like treasures from a forgotten past, their covers bursting with color and nostalgia. You can’t help but smile as you pick out a few.
“Whoa! You’ve got some classics here,” Steve says, " some of these are rare. Were you parents rich or something?" “Just lucky to find them at garage sales and thrift shops,” you explain, holding up a record with a tattered cover. “This one’s from an old-school band. My mom loved collecting vinyl.”
" Okay, stop being so cool" Eddie says. " You're going to give me a heart attack. I'm still young...well..you know what I mean..." You laugh, the sound bubbling over like a sunny stream. “Don’t worry, Munson. I’m not planning on stealing your title as the coolest in the neighborhood. That crown’s all yours.”
" Would you two stop flirting already? Get a room" Mike rolls his eyes. The teasing hung in the air like a well-placed joke, your cheeks warming at Mike’s comment. You exchanged a glance with Eddie, both of you caught off guard by the quip.
“Flirting?” Eddie scoffed, hiseyes darting towards Mike, incredulity painted across his features. “Please. I don’t even know her last name yet.” He takes a deliberate step back, running his fingers through his hair as a way to regain his composure.
" And I'm sorta seeing someone" Eddie says, shrugging. “Sorta?” You echo, the curiosity bubbling to the surface. “That’s a peculiar way to put it.”
“Complicated,” he replies, leaning against the door, arms folded tight.
" You can just say you have a fuck buddy" you shrug. "We aren't 12" Eddie’s smoky laughter dances through the air, a spark of surprise flickering in his eyes. “Damn, someone’s bold.”
“Just keeping it real,” you respond, a playful glint in your gaze.
" How about you, Y/N? Have anyone coming to swoop you off your feet?" Steve asks. The question hangs in the air, a sudden spotlight illuminating the room. A light flush creeps into your cheeks as you shift your weight awkwardly.
" Not really, but riding a motorcycle like I have, has it's perks" you smirked. Dustin leans in, eyes wide with intrigue. “Oh, are you saying you’re dangerously cool? Like a movie heroine?”
“Something like that.” You grinned.
Every guy I have came across, stares at my bike then at me, back at my guy and asks for my number." A ripple of laughter courses through the group, each taking turns to react.
“Nice! That’s how you know you’re doing something right,” Dustin cheers, fist-pumping the air.
"One time I had gave this guy the number of my aunt who lives in California and she didn't understand what he said. She called me telling me some string cheese mop head was calling her in the middle of the night asking for a ride" you giggled. Laughter erupted in waves, the room brimming with shared stories and genuine delight.
“String cheese mop head, eh?” Steve cackled, nearly doubling over. “I’m stealing that one for future use.”
" He had spagetti like hair, greasy too. He didn't have enough balls either to check the name I have written down either on the paper" you snorted. More laughter erupted, the room vibrating with the energy of shared humor. Eddie leaned against the door, a slow grin spreading across his face. “Sounds like a true gem of a guy. Really raises the bar for us, huh?”
" His zipper was undone too, I had a peek of the small carrot he had" Laughter bursts forth, an eruption of mirth that fills the room like music. Steve nearly collapses against the arm of the couch, howling with glee. “No way! You are not serious!”
" His buddy next to him, listening to our conversation forgot his pants at the bar. He had whales on his boxers, a leather jacket on and a red bandana on his head." The laughter swells, echoing against the walls. Steve struggles to breathe, clutching his stomach as if it might explode.
“Whales?” Dustin wheezes between breaths. "What kind of guys did you attract?"
" Not just whales, when he turned to walk away, he had a tatoo that said " Mama".“‘Mama,’ huh?” Eddie chuckles, shaking his head. “Now that’s a classy touch.” “Right? I mean, who doesn’t want a walking reminder of their mom on their butt?” You feign a serious tone, and Eddie bursts into laughter, the sound deep and genuine, pulling
Dustin opened the box and gasped seeing a whole system music set up. " You'r rich!" "Rich?" You cock an eyebrow, feigning offense as you retrieve a vintage record from the box. “This is thrift-store treasure hunting at its finest. Beats any of this overpriced junk you find in stores. You just need to look harder.”
" I'm an explorer and a finder" Dustin holds up a record, eyes wide with delight. “You’re telling me you just stumbled upon this treasure?”
“Pretty much. The thrill’s in the hunt,” you say, your smile reflecting the joy of discoveries made over years.
" I didn't have any friends so this is all I did.." you scratched the back of your head. Dustin's expression turned sympathetic but curious. “What do you mean? No friends? With all this cool stuff, I figured you had a whole crew.”
" My father..." you gulped "...he was a drunk..." you closed your eyes ".... he beat me when I was home.. so I could not show anyone the bruises..." You looked away. " I didn't want to be home, so I went to hunt the best things I could find. Brought my mom things, used my allowance just that I could see her smile." You glanced at the ground. " I was too afraid for anyone to see me like that." Silence enveloped the room again, a stark contrast to the earlier warmth. Each friend’s gaze shifted, taking in the gravity of your words.
" He would beat my mom, but I'd cover her" your eyes closed rememebring the memories. “Things got better after he died..." “...but it took time,” you finish, the weight of the past unfurling in the quiet, palpable stillness.
" Please don't look at me like that" you begged. The weight of silence pressed against you, an unyielding void that seemed to stretch between moments. A cocktail of emotions brewed among the group, each one grappling with the reality of your words.
" Please.." A flicker of concern darkens Steve's gaze, his comforting demeanor faltering under the weight of your admission. He clasps his hands tightly in his lap, wrestling with the impulse to reach out.
" I'm not a broken record" Your voice weaves through the silence, but the weight of your confession seems to hang in the air like a thick fog.
"It's life, and I'm a survior" The silence thickens, wrapping around you like a tender embrace. You draw a shaky breath, the words reverberating through the room, knitting together empathy and understanding.
Dustin wrapped his arms around you and placed his head on top of yours. The warmth of Dustin’s embrace felt oddly comforting, like being wrapped in a blanket on a chilly night. His head rested against yours—light, reassuring—reminding you that you weren’t alone.
“ We aren't going anywhere" He says. You lean into Dustin, grateful for the comfort of his presence, the chaos of life momentarily quieting down.
" Eddie lives next door, you can always talk to him" Dustin suggest. But something in Eddie didn't sit right. " I'm not going to be her tharipist" Eddie says. Dustin pulls away, shooting Eddie a look laced with indignation. “Come on, Eddie. That’s a bit harsh, don’t you think? She just needs some support.”
" No" Eddie growled. Eddie’s voice cut through the fragile atmosphere, tension coiling around his words like a snake. His arms remained crossed, but now they looked like a barrier.
"She has a phone" Dustin’s eyes narrowed, disbelief washing over his face. “Eddie, seriously? It’s not just about talking to people on the phone. Sometimes you just need someone to listen, face-to-face.”
"She's just a girl" Eddie continues, " She is capable of calling someone" Dustin’s eyes spark with frustration. “So what? Just because she’s a girl, she doesn’t need support? Everyone needs someone to talk to!”
" Not me" he grumbled.Dustin’s frustration flared, his voice rising with indignation. “You can’t just shut her out because you’re scared of getting close! That’s not fair!”
" I'm not scared, why would I want to get close to her? Just because she a cool collection of music? A motorcycle? Ha!" Eddie's words hung in the air, sharp and biting. You shifted uncomfortably, caught in the middle of this unexpected clash.
" You're being too harsh, Eddie" Robin says. Eddie shifts, jaw clenched. “I’m just saying, people have their own shit to deal with. I can’t be someone’s crutch.”
" It's fine" you mumble, " I don't need some old smoking wannabe rockstar. Don't let the door hit you on the way out" you stood up from where you were sitting storming to your room and slamming the door. Who does he think he is? The thud of the door echoed in the small apartment, a sharp punctuation to your frustration. You pressed your back against the cool wood, eyes squeezed shut as you breathed heavily.
Fuck Eddie.
The walls felt like they were closing in, each breath heavy with frustration. You pressed your palm against the door, wishing for the chaotic swirl of voices to fade.
" That wasn't necessary, Munson" Steve says. " Shut it, Harrington" Eddie says. Silence followed your retreat, the air thick with unresolved tension. The silence settled like a thick fog, wrapping around the group. Outside your door, muffled voices began to spiral, battling against the weight of what had just transpired.
“Eddie, what the hell?” Steve’s voice cracked slightly, disbeliefundeniable in his tone.
Eddie leaned against the wall, his head tilted back, gaze distant. “What the hell did you want me to say? ‘Welcome to the family!’? She doesn’t need me.”Steve crossed his arms. “That’s not the point, Munson! She’s hurting, and you just—”
“Just what? Became her therapist?” Eddie cut him off, frustration lacing his words.
" Don't use your dick, Eddie" Robin says. Eddie stood rigid, swallowing the weight of Robin’s words. The air thickened between them, alive with an electric tension. “I’m not trying to be a dick! I just don’t want to get involved in someone else's mess.”
You walked out of your room pointing a finger at Eddie, " I don't need you to be my friend or my therapist. I understand now why you can't keep a girl. I get it. " Your voice sliced through the lingering tension, brittle and frayed. Eddie’s eyes widened, the surprise washing over his features like a cold wave. His posture shifted, arms falling to his sides as you stepped into view.
" So tell me, why. Enlight me, princess " Eddie spatted throwing his hands. The room bristled with tension, a standoff brewing in the thick air between you and Eddie. His dark eyes narrowed, resentment flickering like embers.
“Enlighten you?” you jabbed, anger fueling every word. “You think you can just stand there, looking all brooding and mysterious, and expect everyone to bow down? You’re not special, Eddie. You’re just another guy lost in your own mess.”
" Yeah, princess. That's all you got?" Eddie laughs. The laughter bursts from him, a hollow sound that reverberates against the walls, mingling with the tension hanging in the air.
"You really think you know me?" Eddie sneers, his voice dropping an octave, the confrontation pushing the boundaries of the moment like a taut string ready to snap.
" You probably never cleaned up after yourself, you reek of cigarettes and cheap smell coming from the trash can. When was the last time you brushed your hair? Look at that too, you're already getting old with all the grey hair. You're dick is probably wrinkyl too." Eddie’s laughter died, replaced by a sharp intake of breath as your words struck deep. The room fell into an echoing silence, the weight of your insult hanging in the air like a lead balloon.
" Listen here, you brat" he starts, his voice low and steady, a dangerous calm seeping into the intensity of the moment.
“Maybe I don’t clean up after myself,” he continued, eyes narrowing like a predator assessing its prey, “but at least I have friends." Your heart raced, the anger ricocheting in your chest. "Friends? Is that what you call them—people who watch you smoke yourself to death and enable your miserable attitude?"
" My health isn't your business, princess" Eddie's words sliced through the stillness, a low growl that resonated with defiance. He stood there, unruly hair framing his face, tattoos shifting against his skin, a storm of emotions flickering in his dark eyes.
"You think your harsh words struck a nerve in me? Think again princess, I've been through a lot worse.." Eddie adds. His gaze bore into you, fierce and unwavering, challenging you to flinch.
“Worse than what? Stop being so dramatic, Munson." You glared back, adrenaline coursing through your veins.
" Try again, sweetheart. I dare you" his gaze darkens. A fierce silence settled like a dark cloud, thick with unspoken challenges. You could almost feel the weight of his words hanging in the air, daring you to dig deeper.
“Why don’t you tell me then?” You shot back, your voice unwavering, defiance twinkling in your eyes. “Let’s see who can out-terrible each other.”
" I don't have time for play time" he mumbles, rolling his eyes. His arms dropped to his sides, frustration rippling through his posture as he turned slightly away, still trapped in the conflict swirling in the room.
" Did I hit a nerve? You ran out of words to say? Oh poor me" you dramatically put a hand on your forehead. Eddie's expression hardened, a flash of vulnerability battling behind the defiance. He fisted his hands at his sides, straining against the unwelcome wave of frustration that built behind his ribcage.
“Enough with the performance,” he say, pointing a finger, " that mouth will get you in trouble." Your laughter slipped free, cutting through the tension. “Trouble? Please, I've been living in it long before I moved in next door to you.”
Eddie’s jaw tightened, a fleeting glimpse of vulnerability hidden behind bravado. “You are nothing but a brat." “Brat? Really? That’s the best you got?” You shot back, arms crossed defiantly.
Eddie leaned against the wall, a slight smirk tugging at his lips. “It fits, doesn’t it? You probably never had a boyfriend dick you down good." Your breath hitched, outrage mixing with surprise. The bluntness of his words struck like lightning, charging the air between you. “Excuse me?” You narrowed your eyes, disbelief draping over your features.
“ Guys, stop fighting" Dustin say. " The both of you are adults" Dustin's voice sliced through the charged atmosphere, a plea echoing in stark contrast to the tension crackling between you and Eddie.
“Yeah, adults who apparently act like children,” you shot back, your defiance barely holding back the sting.
" Sweetheart, you're acting like you never been laid. That's your problem. "The room tensed further, air crackling as if charged with static electricity. Emotions swirled like a wild storm, and the accusation hung in the air, sharp and biting.
" Oh god, you two are going to be the enemies to lovers?" Robin pinches the bridge of her nose. Caught in the moment, you and Eddie shot her incredulous looks, both equally infuriated and puzzled.
“Enemies to lovers? What, am I supposed to swoon now?” Eddie scoffed. " She's nothing but a little girl that needs her pussy fucked." The room exploded with silence. You and Eddie locked eyes, the air thick with tension, his words hanging like a dark cloud over the group. Anger flickered in your chest, a fire breathing life into your indignation.
“Such big words for such a boy like you, Eddie." The sting of your words wrapped around the room, silence falling heavy. Eddie’s smirk wavered for a second, surprise flickering in his dark eyes.
“Boy? That’s all you’ve got?”
" I don't think you even had a relationship ever in your life, Eddie. Did you ask someone out and they looked at you and said, no thanks, he's garbage? Oh poor you, " you taunted. Eddie’s expression darkened, the smirk faltering before vanishing entirely. A flicker of hurt glimmered in his eyes, but he quickly masked it with a scowl.
“Wow, real original there.” He crossed his arms.
" Let me guess, you find some girl in a bar or somewhere and take them to your unmade, unwashed sheets of a bed and fuck them with your little dick until they leave and your back to square one..." Eddie’s jaw tightened, the tension in his body palpable. A flicker of something shattered in his gaze—was it anger, embarrassment? You couldn’t tell.
“Wow, real clever.” He stepped forward, invading your space, shadows playing as he towers over you. You had to admit, he looked really hot right now.
" Bite me" you looked at him with a sneer. Eddie leaned in closer, the intensity of his gaze sending shivers down your spine. “Maybe I will.” The words rolled off his tongue, a dangerous blend of challenge and flirtation.
" If the two of you are going to fuck, please let us leave first " Steve whined. Laughter erupted once more, cutting through the thick tension that hung like fog between you and Eddie. The absurdity of the moment seeped back into your bones, laughter bubbling up unexpectedly. Steve’s face morphed into mock horror, eyes wide as he coverd his ears.
" You two are disgusting staring at each other like your ripping each others clothes off" Mike shivered in disgust. Eddie stepped back, amusement dancing in his eyes, a smirk returning to his lips. “What can I say? It’s a hot vibe we got going.” He playfully flexed his arms.
" As If I ever would sleep with him" you scoweld. " I don't sleep with small dickheads who reek of cigarettes and doesn't know what clean sheets are. Eddie’s laughter faded, a flicker of something sharper taking its place. “Clean sheets don’t do much good if they’re just going to end up in a pile on the floor.” He shifted, crossing his arms.
" What? Are you poet now? Are going to lay down the lines now?" Eddie leaned back against the wall, arms crossed tightly, smirk returning with a hint of daring. “I could be. Got me all inspired, sweetheart.” He raised his eyebrows, a playful glint in his dark eyes.
" Look at yourself, Eddie. Your hair looks like it hasn't been brushed for days. You have drool in the corner of your mouth from looking at me too long" you flipped your hair with a smirk, " you reek and you have mud on your shoes."
Eddie's smirk faltered for a brief second, and behind those dark eyes, you could catch a flicker of something—something like confusion, maybe hurt. But he masked it quickly, a defensive armor sliding back into place.
" At least I don't talk too much and use my mouth for other activities" he smirks.
" Ew! We are still here, you know?" Dustin groaned. " Eddie, I know your old and stuff but please.. " Dustin’s voice pulled the sharp tension from the room like a stubborn thorn, easing the simmering pressure for a fleeting moment. Eddie rolled his eyes, leaning back against the wall, an exaggerated sigh escaping his lips.
" Old? I have a stamina of a race horse. Just because I have few greay hairs, doesn't mean shit.." Eddie says. “Right, and I bet that ‘stamina’ is all in your head,” you retort, raising an eyebrow. Eddie steps forward, a dangerous glint in his eye. “Care to test that theory, princess?”
" Again. We are in the room!" Steve shouts. " We don't need to hear you two." You roll your eyes at Steve, heart racing from the escalating tension. Eddie’s gaze remains locked on yours, an electric current buzzing in the air.
Eddie hungrily looks at you, licking his lips. The heat in the room escalates, crackling with unspoken tension as you both stand toe to toe, unyielding and defiant.
" It's like we can smell you two. Sexual tension" Mike says. " Disgusting." The interruption seemed to spark another wave of laughter, but it simmered beneath the surface like an unspoken truth, charging the air between you and Eddie with an electric energy.
" He smells like a trash can, no way he's getting near my bed or close to touching me." Eddie feigned a gasp, his hand clutching at his heart as if you’d dealt a mortal blow. “Trash can? Ouch, sweetheart. That’s cold.”
" Go take a shower! A cold one at that!" Eddie squints, pretending to reel from your words, hand clutching his chest dramatically. “A cold shower? You’re trying to torture me now, Y/N?”
“Just trying to spare the world from your stench,” you shoot back. "God knows where your hands have been.." Eddie feigns horror, hands flying to his temples as if you’ve delivered a lethal blow. “My hands? Sweetheart, I’ll have you know they’re pristine. I only touch the finest things… like my guitar and—”
“NO! no need to hear anything anymore!" Dustin shouted putting his hands up. " I"m leaving, I don't know about you guys" he pointed to Mike, Steve and Robin. Dustin pushed through the door, shaking his head as he exited. “I can’t deal with this high school drama. I’m out!”
“Yeah, good luck unpacking,” Steve called after him, barely containing his laughter. Robin follows knocking her shoulders into you, " I suggest you give Munson a bath yourself " she smirks. You chuckle, brushing her off with a light shove. “As if I’d waste my time on that.” The playful banter lingers, but the thick scent of unresolved tension still hangs in the air.
" You two are disgusting " Mike says. “Goodbye, Mike.” Eddie fires back, his tone dripping with sarcasm as he slides off the wall, an amused smirk etched across his face.
Eddie turns back to look at you as he stares at you with hunger and lust in his eyes.
" Why are you looking at me, like that?" Eddie’s smirk falters slightly, surprise flickering across his dark gaze.
“Like what?” he shoots back, defensiveness lacing his words, but the edge of tension still crackled between you two.
“Like you’re about to devour me" Eddie leaned closer, the heat of his presence enveloping you as he tilted his head slightly, perplexity mingling with amusement in his eyes. “Maybe I am,” he murmured, his voice dropping low, teasing.
" Eddie.." you warned. Eddie stepped even closer, the air thickening between you like a taut string ready to snap. “What’s wrong, Y/N? Afraid of a little... touch?” His smirk widened, each word laced with mischief.
“ Get your hands away from me" Eddie stepped closer, the space between you a charged battleground. His dark eyes glinted with mischief as he leaned forward, the scent of cigarettes and something inherently Eddie swirling around you.
"Come on, don’t be scared," he says.
" I'm warning you"Eddie leans in closer, just barely brushing against you, the energy between you crackling like electricity. “Warning me? What are you going to do? Call your biker buddies?”
" I know karate" Eddie chuckles, the sound low and teasing, “Karate? You? Sweetheart, I’d pay to see you try.”
“Try me, Munson.” Your voice trembles with defiance; the air between you thickens.
His hand shoots out to brush your hair but before he does, you have hsi wrist in a tight grip. His wrist feels warm under your fingers, solid and unyielding. Eddie raises an eyebrow, surprise flaring in his dark gaze.
" I told you" you challenged. “Damn,” he murmurs, a hint of admiration mixed with amusement dancing in his eyes. The gentle thrill of your defiance makes the corner of his mouth twitch upwards, like a wildfire igniting.
" Let go," he pushes, but with all your strengh you push him towards you looking at him. " I warned you. Back off." Eddie's gaze flickers with a mix of surprise and intrigue. You maintain the pressure, holding his wrist firm, your hearts beating in unison, the space between charged like a live wire.
“Wow,” he breathes. " You're something else, sweetheart." His admiration shoots through the air like a bolt of lightning, striking a nerve deep within. You hold his gaze, a mixture of defiance and thrill bubbling inside you.
" Maybe you should think twice before challenging me"
Eddie hums, smirking.
" Fiesty" Eddie's smirk deepens, eyes gleaming with mischief.
“Feisty? That’s rich coming from someone who’s about to get his wrist twisted off,” you challenge.
" You're too cute thinking you can take me down. I'm stronger, older and faster." A sly smile curved your lips, unwavering. “Stronger? Maybe. Older? Definitely. Faster?”
Eddie leaned in closer, his breath brushing against your cheek, a teasing smile barely contained. “I’ve got you there, sweetheart."
You gasp how close he is, scrunching his nose pushing his head away.
" You reek" Eddie flinches back slightly, feigning mock offense, but the gleam in his dark eyes reveals his amusement. “Reek? This is the scent of a rockstar, princess. A scent of a real man, not like Harrington smelling like a laundry basket." You scoff, unable to ignore the heat rising in your cheeks. “Right, because we all want to smell like smoke and bad decisions.”
" You like me.." Eddie’s smirk widened, triumph glowing in his eyes. “See? You’re already starting to admit it.”
“Admit what?” You shot back, crossing your arms defensively, though a smile threatened to break your facade.
" You're into me, all of this" he points to himself. You huffed, arms crossed, but frustration battled amusement in your chest.
“Please. This is hardly a fair trade—smoke and tattoos for sunshine and charm,” you retorted, an eyebrow raised defiantly.
" I like my guys bigger and rougher" you add with a smirk.Eddie's laughter rang out, rich and unexpected, filling the air like music. “Is that so? Guess I must be lacking then, huh?” He straightened, feigning disappointment but the glimmer in his eyes danced with mischief.
" Guess so, grandpa" you teased. Eddie feigned a gasp, hand clutching his chest as if wounded. "Grandpa? Wow, that’s harsh. How do you even know I didn’t just fight the Grim Reaper last night for my youth?"
" Because Eddie, you look like you lost a few battles" Eddie feigned a wounded expression, clutching his chest as if you’d delivered a lethal blow. “Lost? I fought the good fight, sweetheart. Just because I came out with a few more scars doesn’t mean I didn’t win.”
" I have deeper scars" you let his wrist go, looking away. Your gaze drifted to the cluttered floor, the assortment of boxes and memories strewn about like fragments of a jigsaw puzzle. Eddie noticed the shift, the flicker of vulnerability creeping back into your eyes.
“ Sweetheart.." Eddie’s voice softened, the bravado slipping away, revealing a glimpse of understanding. He stepped closer, his gaze fixed on you with an intensity that felt electric, almost grounding.
“Everyone has scars,” he said, his tone now measured, " but you're alive and here standing arguing with me and bantering, flirting with me." "Alive," you echoed, the word tasting bitter on your tongue. Eyes on the floor, you couldn’t shake the weight of the past.
“Yeah, you are,” he pressed, stepping closer again, the space between you shrinking. He brushes your hair away, " I"m not a bad guy. But I am not going to let you get too close and treat me like I'm not a human being.." Your gaze flicked up to meet his, the intensity of his dark eyes holding you captive.
" You're hiding yourself under the tattooes, the scars you say you have, the cigarettes, the music, all of it. " you tell him.
Eddie’s smirk faltered, his eyes glinting with something deeper, a flicker of vulnerability nestled beneath his typical bravado. “Hiding? Maybe,” he said quietly, the weight of his admission hanging in the air.
" I bet if you cleaned up better, girls will like you" Eddie's brow furrowed, a flash of defensiveness igniting in his eyes. “Girls? Really? You think that’s all it takes?”
" You would get your wrinkyl dick working" you chuckled.Eddie blinked, surprise flaring in his eyes before he burst into laughter, the sound rich and infectious. “Wrinkly dick? That’s a new one. You’re truly creative, Y/N.”
“ I mean your older than me, grandpa" you teased. Eddie rolled his eyes dramatically, able to switch from defensiveness to affected dismay with the flick of a wrist. “Older? Psh, I’m practically timeless. Can’t put a price on experience.”
“ How many times you had sex then?" you asked, " Twice?" Eddie threw his head back, laughter erupting, rich and deep. “Twice? You’re cute, sweetheart.”
“Cute? Wow, thanks for the compliment,” you shot back, crossing your arms. " I know your into me, Munson. That's why your still here.." "Into you, huh?" Eddie leaned back against the wall, arms crossed, a playful smirk curling his lips. “Right, because it’s not total agony standing in the same room as you.”
“ I'd have you fall to your knees and you know it" The tension in the air shifted, electrifying the space between you. Eddie's smirk faltered for just a heartbeat before morphing into a mock challenge, his brow arching as he stepped forward. “You think so, huh? Pretty thing like you think I'm that easy?" “Easy? Hardly. I just think you’re all talk, Munson,” you replied, holding your ground, each word dripping with playful defiance.
" Oh, sweetheart. Don't play this game. Don't" Eddie closed the distance with a bold step, the smirk on his face morphing into something dangerously playful, eyes glimmering with mischief. “You’re really going to challenge me? This game you're playing? Because I play to win and I get it if you scared..."
" I'm not scare of you" Eddie's smirk deepened, a glimmer of mischief lighting his dark eyes. “Is that so? Then why don’t we put your bravado to the test?” He stepped closer, his presence stealing the air between you.
“I think I got it..." you mumble, " You're afraid to fall in love..." you gasped. Eddie’s laughter faded, his expression shifting as the weight of your words settled between you like a heavy blanket. The playful energy morphed into something tenser, more fragile.
“Love?” he echoed, disbelief threading through his voice. “ that's stupid." Eddie scoffed, waving a dismissive hand as if your words were a filthy habit to be brushed away. “Love is just another way of getting yourself hurt.”
" Whatever helps you sleep at night" you shrugged. Eddie’s jaw clenched subtly, a flicker of something softening in his dark eyes. He stepped back, breaking eye contact for a moment, the tension coiling tighter between you like a winding thread ready to snap.
“You think I want the puppy mushy love stuff?" Eddie asked. His voice was a low growl, underlined with an edge of frustration as he ran a hand through his messy hair, careless and wild.
“Love is about connection and understadning-" Eddie cuts you off. " It's bullshit" he says. “Bullshit?” You echoed, incredulous. “You think it’s bullshit to feel something genuine?”
Eddie’s eyes flickered with something unspoken, a fire behind his bravado. “Yeah, because it makes you weak."
" Who hurt you?" You leveled your gaze at him, the question hanging in the air like a fragile thread.
Eddie bristled, his facade cracking just slightly. “What are you? My therapist?” He shoved his hands into his pockets.
" Your parents? Friends? High school crush?" Eddie’s eyes hardened, and he straightened, the carefree demeanor quickly replaced by a guarded shell.
“Does it matter?” he asked, voice low. “Everyone has baggage. I don’t need to unpack mine for you, sweetheart.”
" So it's one of those" you nodded, understanding. “Good to see you get it.” His tone dripped with defiance, but the crack in his armor remained visible—a bittersweet reminder of the façade he wore.
" Do you ever let anyone in?" Eddie’s expression darkened, a mask of defiance shielding whatever fragility simmered beneath. “In? What does that even mean? Letting people in means inviting trouble.”
" Don't you want connection? To be understood?" Eddie’s gaze flickered, uncertainty glinting behind his usual bravado. “You’re painting a pretty picture, sweetheart. But it’s hard to want a connection when everyone around you turns into lies,” he replied, a hint of bitterness.
" You really think everyone is out to get you, Eddie.." Eddie shifted, his expression flickering like shadows in dim light. “Not out to get me, no. But trust issues? I've got ‘em.” He leaned back against the wall, arms crossing tightly over his chest like a fortress under siege.
" Something we both have in common" you started to chip at your nail polish.“Common ground, huh?” Eddie raised an eyebrow, skepticism lacing his voice. “What does that even mean for you? You just moved here, and we barely know each other. What could we possibly share?”
" Music, banter, a good conversation, understanding, a rough past, parents that were shit...." His brow furrowed, surprise painting his features. “So we’re both a couple of misfits, huh? You think that’s enough to build some sort of bond?”
" You're scared to get hurt as much as I am too" Eddie's gaze flickered, something raw threading through his bravado as he stared back at you. “Scared? Maybe. But that doesn’t mean I’m looking for some buddy system.”
" I'm not asking for frienship" Eddie’s brow furrowed, a mixture of confusion and intrigue washing over his features. “What then? A fleeting moment? A couple of laughs between two broken souls?” His voice dipped into a lower register, laced with an edge that
" Maybe.. someone to drink with when you can't sleep, someone to sit in silence with.." Eddie's expression softened for a moment, his bravado slipping. “You think I want someone sitting in my silence?” He pushed off the wall, challenging yet inviting.
“Why not?” you replied, your voice steady despite the tumult of emotions swirling inside. “Sometimes silence is louder than words. It can soothe the chaos, even if just for a moment.”
Eddie sighs as he shakes his head, " You don't understand, kid.." The air thickened between you, charged with unspoken truths. Eddie’s gaze hardened like stone, but behind the wall, you caught glimmers of vulnerability.
“Kid? Am I really that young to you?” Your voice dripped with playful sarcasm.
" You have that sparkle in your eye still, you're young... and too young to play with me.." Eddie says as his eyes flash something in them. “Play with you? Is that what this is to you, Munson?” you quirked an eyebrow, folding your arms defiantly. The earlier tension felt like a tightly wound spring, ready to snap at any moment.
Eddie chuckles, " I'm not going to end up fucking you.." You scoff, arms folding tighter against your chest, “Is that so? So you think I’m just another notch on your belt, huh?”
Eddie’s smirk loses its edge, the flicker of mischief in his eyes.
" Sweetheart, I have more expirence than you. I know what I'm doing, have you even sucked a cock before?" You scoff, heart racing at the boldness of his question. “And you think that’s all there is to it? Just some stupid experience points?”
“I’m just saying, if you want to play, play smart,” Eddie replies, " and if you don't, then don't waste my time." Your heart thudded, each beat echoing in the charged silence between you. “Waste your time? Is that what this is to you—a game?”
Eddie leaned back against the doorframe, the tension coiling around you both like a plague.
" You're difficult, you know?" He opens the door. The door creaked open, framing Eddie like a chaotic storm on the other side, hair tousled and mouth curling in a teasing smirk, but his eyes glimmered with something deeper—a raw honesty attempting to break through the playful veneer.
“ Are you really not going to let me see you behind the curtain?" Eddie chuckles, " You think there is one?"
" I think you're pretty good at hiding yourself but your too scared of the world and the people that care about you" Eddie's expression hardened, his facade tipping dangerously close to crumbling. "Scared? You have no idea what you're talking about."
"Then show me," you challenged, stepping forward, watching as his bravado flickered before your eyes.
" Show me the real Eddie Munson" Eddie hesitated, a flicker of vulnerability crossing his features as he weighed your challenge. The charged atmosphere thickened, each heartbeat echoing in the space between you.
He scratches his head, " You don't want to deal with me, sweetheart. " “I might surprise you,” you countered, your tone steady, eyes locked with his, daring him to back down.
" Why do you want to?" He asked. "Because I know there’s more beneath all that bravado," you responded, stepping a little closer, testing the boundaries as the air thickened with anticipation. “Everyone has layers, Eddie. You can’t hide behind attitude and tattoos forever.”

Eddie and the Casserole
Imagine Eddie, who has been eating like a feral raccoon his whole poor neglected life, coming to your place for dinner.
🧄🍽🫑
You didn't make anything fancy for your best friend...just a casserole and some roasted veggies...but he smiles brightly at you as he chews the first bite. His big dark eyes get a little misty. He sits there with a napkin tucked into his shirt like a big kid, and he's excited like it's Christmas morning.
🍞🥦🍗
His table manners are non-existent, but you couldn't care less because he's bouncing in his seat and mumbling "this is sooo mhnnmmm fucking good!" Around his food.
🥕🍖🧀
You smile and says, "Jesus, Eddie, it's really no big deal. You can eat dinner here whenever you want. It's just easy weeknight..."
🍎❤🍎
But you don't get the rest of the sentence out because he's already rounded the table to grab your face and give you a big silly kiss on the mouth. He looks you deep in the eyes and says, "You have no idea what this means to me. That you care..." he chokes up a little, suppressing tears. "I haven't had a real dinner like that since I lost...since I was really little."
❤️❤️‍🩹❤️
He hugs you so tight. He's so warm and you hear his soft whimpers as the tears begin to fall.
❤️🍒❤️
Your rub little comforting circles over his skinny back, stroke his fluffy hair, and say, "It's okay, handsome, just let it out. Shit, all this fuss and you haven't even had dessert yet! "
❤️🌶❤️
He lets go and looks you in the eye, chuckling and swiping at his cheeks. His laughlines and dimples are on full display as he says in a lower tone, "Oh honey, you're so sweet...but I already know what I want for dessert."
🧡💛 🍯 💛🧡
He gives you a cocky wink and kisses you again...slower, deeper, gentler. Your heart swells. You're both warm and full and happier than you've ever been.
💝🍫💝

Tumblr media
I've Always Knew
You're breathless when you stumble inside Eddie's trailer. “Did you see his face?” Eddie says, pushing the door close. “The entire school will hear about it on Monday.”
Collapsing on the couch, you wipe a tear off. “Shame on him for trying to advise me on not hanging out with you. He deserved every word.”
“He did, but, damn, I didn't know you had all that bottled up inside you.”
Neither did you, to be honest. But Jason almost ruined your night. After you told him it was a real date, he was moved by jealousy or whatever the hell he feels about you, scolding you as if he had any right to. And you got angry. Angry because you're sick and tired of people meddling with your life, telling you they know what's best for you. As if they knew Eddie and weren't moved only by gossip and lies. You're the only one who gets to see what's inside Eddie... And it's beautiful, precious.
He's one of the best things that happened to you, and you'll do anything you can so he'll always be part of your life.
“Won't they ever stop, Eddie?” You ask, laughter dying down. “It's been four years and they still think you're evil or something.”
Eddie comes to the couch, sitting down next to you. “That's kinda the intention, you know.” He says, gesturing at himself. “I want people to think I'm evil.”
“No, Eddie. I'm for real here.” Sighing, you get up, heading to his room. There, you close the door to change into something to sleep on, and, despite having enough of your clothes here, you take one of his shirts as usual. When you're done, you open the door and he comes inside.
“Why do you even care, (Y/N)? Haven't you learned that from me yet?” When you sit on the bed, Eddie does the same, rather close this time. “I don't give a shit if they think I'm a punk, or if they think my clothes are all old just because I like to rip them a little. I like who I am, you like who I am, and that's enough for me.”
Looking into his eyes, you feel a tightness in your throat. He really cares about you, this man. More than you think you know. Biting on the inside of your cheek, you nod. “And what about me?” You ask in a low voice, moving even closer. “Do you like who I am?” It's an important question, you think, because as he told you many times before, you're very different, to the outside world at least. ...And maybe he'd like someone with a style like his.
But Eddie scoffs, and without saying anything, he grabs your side and pushes you down on the bed, his body hovering over you. “Are you mad? I love who you are. You're my cute little princess. Emphasis on cute.” Then, he pauses, narrowing his eyes. “And on little. And on the princess.”
“Let me up!” You complain, even though you're laughing.
“Nah, don't think so.” And he starts tickling you, bringing out yells and loud laughter, and you try to push him away, but your efforts only serve to have you fighting on the bed, and throwing empty curses at each other.
“EDDIE!” Someone calls, and you both stop, frozen.
“Yes, uncle!”
“Come here. I have to talk to you.”
You and Eddie exchange a glance, frozen for another second before you both get up, and head to the living room. Something might have happened because his uncle is home way too early.
In the living room, his uncle looks up from his place on the couch. He looks at you, then at Eddie, then back at you. “I only meant Eddie.” He says and sighs. “Nevermind, girl. Maybe it'll be important to you as well.” His uncle adds when you turned to leave. He takes a deep breath. “Remember that promotion I was applying for since you were in Middle School? I got it.”
“That's great. I'm happy for you.” You say, smiling.
“Yeah. But that means I'll have to move to Indianapolis. Job's there.” At that, you and Eddie look at each other, and you move closer, taking his hand. “No, don't even go there.” His uncle interrupts. “I'm not telling this because Eddie has to go. He's an adult anyways. Just saying this because I'll leave the trailer for you, Eddie. And send some money every month for you to keep it up until you graduate and find a job... If you graduate this time.”
“He will.” You speak up, squeezing Eddie's hand. “He promised me.”
His uncle nods. “Good, good.” He gets up. “I'll move next month. And well, maybe you could come live here for good, girl, since you kinda already do.” Ignoring your faces, he walks away, going to his room. “Now, I'll sleep soundly with the good news.”
When you hear the door closing, it happens automatically. You turn to each other and start jumping, yelling silently not to be heard. Eddie pulls you into his arms, lifting you in a bear hug.
“You have to come live with me.” He says, putting you down, a bright smile on his face.
You're just about to say yes, of course, when you remember your parents, that might have something to say about it, despite you being legally an adult. “Mmm... Mom might not be happy about it. Dad might call us crazy and say no. They won't like the idea of their daughter moving in with a guy she's not married to even though we're best friends and they're used to us hanging out most of the time.”
Eddie shrugs. “No problem. Marry me then.”
That... Takes you by surprise. Taking a step back, trying to force your body not to become red as a tomato at his words, you chuckle. “Oh no, Munson. You did not just PROPOSE to me while I'm in pajamas. You did not just propose to me without even kissing me before. That's outrageous.”
“Are you crazy? We kissed before, playing spin the bottle.”
“We were the only ones playing Eddie, and you dared me. It doesn't count.” Crossing your arms, you shrug. “I still have the ring you lost on that bet.”
“You never wear it.”
“Cause it's ugly.” You snap.
“Then why do you still have it?”
“Because I won it.”
“What about another bet then, Princess,” Eddie says, lowering his voice. “If you kiss me now, you can have half of my life. But only if you give me half of yours.”
Blushing even more, you feel your stomach tickling like your core is about to melt. Or burst. “S-sounds fair...” You mutter, shrugging a shoulder. “But you're the guy. Grow some balls and kiss me yourself, Munson.”
Eddie laughs, shaking his head slowly before stepping closer, ending the distance between you and him. “As the Lady wishes.”
And just like that, the next thing you know are his lips on yours, a warm kiss in which he loses no time before taking over completely, claiming you, like no one ever did before. You kissed a couple of guys, but the past experiences serve now only to show you you've been kissing the wrong ones. This is right. Eddie is the right one.
Wrapping your arms around his neck, you press your body against his, allowing him to deepen the kiss, and send everyone who speaks shit about you to hell. This is between you and Eddie, always has been.
You've been in love with Eddie for too long, but now you know.
•••
Needless to say, your parents weren't happy with the moving-in with Eddie idea... Nor would they be okay with the idea of your getting married.
So, of course, you took the craziest possible idea.
On your trip to drop Eddie's uncle off in Indianapolis, you signed the papers, bought two cheap rings, and went back to Hawkins with a different surname.
And, needless to say, your parents freaked out. But your grandmother was on your side since she did something very similar so she could be with your grandfather. It runs in the family, she said.
And with no other impediments, you took your stuff and brought them to the trailer. But most of it remained in the car since you and Eddie decided to redecorate and change some things, so it could have both your styles. The first victim was your bedroom. Speaking sense into his head, you made him change the place he kept his guitar. It was now on the wall across the window, where the lighting was much better.
After you finish doing the bed with the new sheets and fixing the many pillows on top of it, you walk out, finding Eddie by his uncle's old bedroom.
“I can see the gears turning.”
“Don't know what to do with it.” He says, a hand rubbing his chin.
Gasping, you step inside, turning until you're looking up at your husband. Damn, it will take a while to get used to it, you think. “Seriously. You don't have anything in mind to do with this place?” You gesture vaguely around.
Eddie's eyes go wide. “Oh! Sorry.” He smiles. “It's good, it will be a good closet. We could even have a space for-”
“Did you have a stroke or something, man?” You burst out, rolling your eyes. “I mean a D&D space. We're not students anymore, you can't keep using the school for the games. But here, it's perfect. A place completely dedicated to it.” Eddie doesn't reply. He just stands there, looking down at you like he's having a mental breakdown. “...Are you alive in there?”
“I was going to say that I love you but honestly, those three words aren't enough to describe it.” Then, he moves fast, picking you up.
“Whoa!” Giggling, you wrap your legs around his waist. “Why that now? Not that I'm complaining.”
“Ever since the first time I saw you, I knew I would love you. And yes, I thought it was a crush, that you'd never want a freak like me but with time, as I got to know you... I fell for you. And every day since you have proven to me that was the right decision.”
You weren't expecting that. Eddie didn't make such a declaration when you were signing the paper to get married, and you weren't expecting that. Eddie's emotions come to the surface at the most unexpected times. “I wish I realized before... That I loved you, Eddie... It would spare me all the time I lost with stupid boys when the only thing I wanted was to spend time with you.”
“It doesn't matter. We matter. Now matters. All that brought us here.” He bounces you up to have a better grip. “AKA the stupid kids who got married.”
That makes you smirk. “Are they still saying you knocked me up?”
“Absolutely.”
Chuckling, you shrug. “Doesn't matter.” You repeat. “We matter.”
“That's right.” And he kisses you, in the middle of that empty bedroom.
Deep inside, there was always something that told you your life would be bounded with Eddie's for a very long time. But only now you understand that a very long time means the rest of your lives. And there's no reason to wait no longer. So to hell with other people's opinions, you're each other's happiness, and so it shall begin, the life you both wanted. In each other's arms.

Everytime i listen to Me and Your Mama by Childish Gambino, it just reminds me of Eddie. Eddie IS Me and Your Mama, the song is literally him i don’t know how to explain it. Modern!Eddie would so listen to it. It’s just a deep down feeling. Imagine being in his van with him, song on full blast while he sings. Guys i can’t do this anymore! He would drum on the steering wheel with his hands full of rings, LORD HELP ME! He’d reach out to your thigh shaking it as he sings, turning the wheel with one hand.

he’s always been very well endowed, when you first started hooking up you realized he’s much bigger than anyone you’ve ever been with before- at first it was intimidating, until you found out how much you love being filled up by him. He gently runs his tip up and down your slit, making you whimper as it gently grazes your clit, he lets out a pleased hum as he watches your reaction. “Easy baby, I’ll be gentle I promise- stay still for me” you try so hard to ground yourself, gripping onto the bed sheets as you anticipate his entry, you could feel your arousal dripping down to your ass. He lines himself up with your entrance and slowly slips the tip in, immediately his girth starts to stretch you, you always gasp softly no matter how many times you’ve done this it still feels like the first.
A deep groan rumbles through his chest “shit, you’re so fucking wet for me sweetheart.” your eyes shut as the pleasure washes over you, he slowly pumps into you adding a little bit more of his length with each stroke until he’s all the way in. You can feel every detail of his cock against your walls, you’ve never known such bliss before- you didn’t even want to cum, you wanted to stay in this moment forever.

It's just you and Eddie today.
You're propped up against the headboard side by side, a nest of pillows providing you both with a cushion from the uncomfortable framework behind your bed. The muted sound of James Hetfield's voice floating through your stereo speakers over a heavy clash of drums and guitar has your head bobbing in time with the beat. Eddie has long-since gone from shredding on air guitar to intently staring at the way his own ringed fingers bend toward his palm every time the pitch shifts incrementally, mentally contemplating the chord changes by ear.
Despite the windows thrown open on either side of the room, your small apartment reeks of smoke and weed. The humid Indiana summer air filtering through the curtains is not nearly strong enough to properly air out the cramped space. It's one of those wonderfully warm days — peak summertime. Not overly hot, but enough to have your skin prickling with heat beneath a tank top and cotton shorts.
Eddie is still lounging in a threadbare pair of checkered pajama pants and a cutoff tee, the top half of his hair tied back in a haphazard bun to lessen the weight of the thick curls sticking to his neck.
Eddie is prone to complaining when it's hot. Or when it's cold. And also when it's rainy. Or windy.
Point is, you're not sure why he's yet to complain about the lack of air conditioning in your apartment, but Eddie seems content as ever. It could have something to do with the little glass pipe the two of you have been passing back and forth all afternoon. The bowl on the end had been packed tight, more than enough weed to have both of you thoroughly stoned, well before it's even finished.
The ceiling fan is stirring up the faintest breeze. You've burned yourself thrice on a rogue, billowing flame while trying to light up. The circulating air keeps pushing an errant dark curl down over Eddie's face every time he dips his head to take a hit.. You've combed it back for him four times, already—God forbid he set his hair on fire. Again. You're not sure he's even noticed the way your hand lingers on that smooth strip of skin behind his ear just a little longer each time.
But you can't help it, not with the way everything's gone a little foggy at the edges. Your eyes seem to process your surroundings in near slow-motion, all while the world shines with a barely-perceptible gleam. The last twenty minutes the two of you have spent smoking have done wonders to soften the world around you. Your head is full of air in that familiarly pleasant way that leaves you feeling a bit like you might float away at any second. Like a balloon in the sky. And with the added bonus of Eddie by your side, you're entirely relaxed. Contented.
Weak beneath the lazy weight of your high pressing in on you, you suddenly flop your weight down sideways across the bed, your head landing over Eddie's thighs. You blink slow up at him, hazy gaze focusing on the underside of Eddie's face while he brings his bony knees up from the mattress to cage you a little closer to his chest. The angle would be outrageous were you looking up at anyone else, you're sure, but Eddie..
He's so pretty.
All rogue-ish boy. Unkempt and wild, but still entirely beautiful.
You can't help the way your hand finds its way up, up, up. Your fingertips dancing across the barely-there five o'clock shadow on the edge of his jaw. You trace the hard line all the way from his chin to his ear, his stubble scratchy and wholly soothing when you lightly scrape your nails against the grain of it.
Eddie, on the other hand, has found himself entirely focused on the way gravity has moved your breasts in your new position below him. The awkward angle has carried them up and out, bra-less and soft and hypnotizing. They shift just a little every time your hand moves across his face. The tank top you've chosen to wear today is thin, indecently so, in his opinion. His brown eyes have been glued to the obvious outline of your nipples beneath the fabric since the moment you'd greeted him at the door, and his ogling has only gotten less subtle as his high settled in. He risks another longing glance down past your collar bones, reddened eyes dragging over the shape of your puffy nipples hidden underneath.
You're thumbing softly at the coarse hairs just under his chin when Eddie gives in to impulse and  purses his lips to blow a cool breath of air over your neck and chest. You can't help but giggle as your skin reacts, goosebumps spreading down your arms, and unbeknownst to you, your nipples tightening into semi-hard peaks beneath your top.
They're not the only things that are suddenly semi-hard.
Eddie smacks his lips and swallows the drool that he's embarrassed to admit has pooled beneath his tongue. His ring-clad knuckles brush the side of your breast as he reaches to take the forgotten bowl from the blankets.
He attempts to gather himself as he takes another hit. He holds it for a count of five and then exhales a cloud of smoke whilst urging himself to imagine something utterly repulsive.. His uncle in the shower, roadkill, the way his balls itch uncomfortably after he plays a gig at The Hideout in too-tight jeans — anything that might keep him from popping an unwanted boner while you've got your pretty, unassuming head resting in his lap.
Your fingers are now trailing lightly over the light freckles dotting the bridge of Eddie's nose. His skin is a little pink from yesterday's sun, despite the number of times you'd physically dragged him from Steve's pool to apply sunscreen to his steadily-reddening cheeks. The previous day outside has Eddie's barely-there freckles appearing far more visible than usual, speckled along the round tip of his nose, his cheeks, even the crinkles around his eyes. You think they make him look even more handsome, boyish perhaps, but handsome all the same.
Through the warm fog in your brain, you find yourself smiling up at him. A dopey grin on your face as you poke at the soft apples of his cheeks — Like he's your own personal plaything. Your heart ticks excitedly when the corner of Eddie's lips quirk up at you in response, his pupils blown wide, surrounded by a thin ring of molten chocolate. His teeth flash with his sweet little chuckle of amusement, cheeks dimpling beneath the sparsest area of his stubble.
“You've got freckles,” You comment quietly. “They're cute.” You smack your lips once, mouth dry with dehydration, “I like 'em.. 'nd your stubble, too. Feels nice.”
“Thanks, sweetheart,” Eddie chuckles, stoned and more than a bit flattered under the weight of your attention. His chest puffs up a little proudly, his words flowing without any real thought behind them, “Made it all myself.. 'S hard work.. But, uh, y'know. Someone's gotta do it.”
He slips his lighter between two of his fingers and holds the bowl off to the side so that he can drag the fingers of his free hand softly, delicately, over your hair where it's fanned out over his lap. He doesn't want to mess it up, especially doesn't want one of his rings to get caught and pull. But it looks so soft, and through the haze, he can't fight the impulse to simply.. touch. So gently.
His attention seems intently focused on the careful motions of his fingers along your hair, and you take advantage of his distraction by finally allowing your gaze to drop to his mouth. Eddie keeps slowly rolling and biting his lips between his teeth. Canines dig into the flesh before he's scrunching his nose and pursing his lips, only to scrape his teeth over them again in a never-ending loop. You doubt he's even aware he's doing it but it's beginning to make his lips swell, the skin darkening to a brighter shade of pink from the abuse.
All at once, your trance is broken when his tongue pokes out to wet his smoke-dry lips. Your mind flashes suddenly with an idea.
The absence of both the Hellfire crew and your other friends was truly a rarity. You hardly ever got to be alone with Eddie like this. You'd tried to ask him out once upon a time- No, not just once. Twice. Twice you'd asked him on a date — both of which had somehow ended in group excursions rather than romantic one-on-one time, how it had happened two separate times, you still weren't sure — and at this point you'd given up entirely. Because maybe it just wasn't meant to be. It was okay, really, you'd almost grown content in your longing.
But, the way Eddie's lips shone lightly after his tongue stroked over them.. It had your brain reeling with possibility. If you were ever going to get his mouth on yours in private, even just for a fleeting moment, it didn't seem possible that an opportunity so seamless would ever present itself again.
It was worth a shot.
“I want another hit.” You tell him, licking at your own lips as brown eyes refocus on your face.
“M'kay, well, you're prob'ly gonna need to sit up for that, sweets,” Eddie points out, entirely unaware of the way your tummy always swoops when the thoughtless pet name falls from his lips. “Unless you were really lookin' t'get a face full'a ash.. In which case, you can definitely keep layin-” A burst of air leaves his nose with a laugh of surprise, repeating his own words to himself with a sweetly boyish giggle, “Sounds like ass. Face full'a ass. Now, that I'd like-”
Normally you'd join in on the joke. Poke a little fun at him for saying such a thing. Freak. You'd say it fondly, with an eye roll to go with it, maybe you'd throw in a half-serious offer involving his face and your backside- But you don't say any of those things. You can't. You're in the middle making the not-so-carefully crafted scene in your head a reality — And, can't he see that? Why is he trying to distract you?
“Ash. Riiight, uh huh. Well,” You pause, feign innocence before your next words. “Maybe.. Maybe you could shotgun it to me n' that way I can stay right here?” You suggest cautiously, before adding as an afterthought, “If you want, I mean.”
Any amusement is immediately stripped from Eddie's expression. He spends a few achingly long seconds blinking down at you with heavy eyelids, gaze hooded and distant. His weed-hazy brain takes a moment to actually process your words, but then, just as suddenly as he'd zoned out, he's nodding and bringing the glass pipe back up to his lips, one hand cupped around the end to shield the flame from the path of the ceiling fan.
The lighter clicks and swishes quietly as he lights up. He lowers the bowl after a long second, ringed hand dipping beneath your head and guiding you oh-so gently to arch your neck upward, until he can lean down and press his mouth down softly against yours.
That first soft brush of his lips has your whole body thrumming. Butterflies begin a rampage in your stomach, so much so that you have to actively remind yourself to part your lips beneath his.
He presses down just a bit more, lips squishing solidly to your own parted ones and sending your heart racing dangerously, but then he's exhaling the smoke into your waiting mouth. You breathe it in as it comes, letting the warmth of it flow from his body and into your own.
He watches you intently as he moves to pull back and sit upright again. Watches the way you seal your mouth shut, lips rolling between your teeth while your lashes flutter against the apples of your cheeks. You allow the smoke to simply sit in your lungs for a long moment before relaxing your chest and exhaling through your nose, releasing the diluted cloud up into the air between you.
Eddie blinks down at you with heavy lids. There's a long moment of silence between you. It's a palpable thing — not quite awkward or tense, but brimming with an unexpected energy that neither one of you can quite decipher. It's charged. Something like static electricity, or the tether between two magnets of an opposite charge. It nearly tingles in the breadth of space between you.
Eddie feels it. He wonders if you feel it too.
“D'you want another hit?” He asks after a minute, his voice scratchy.
You merely nod your head, not trusting your own voice, and the movement has you refocusing suddenly on the soft press of his calloused fingers where they linger against the nape of your neck. You watch with bated breath as Eddie brings the glass pipe in his hand back to his lips again, letting his gentle grip fall from the top of your spine for just a moment so that he can flick the flame of the lighter over the tiny pocket at the end of the pipe once again.
Eddie drops the items in his hands to your bedside table carelessly once he's gotten a good lungful of smoke. He leans down in a faster movement this time than he had done before, his hand dipping back beneath your head in a flash to bring your mouths together again.
His lips are dry against your own, but so soft. You're not sure if it's the high or simply Eddie, but the barely-there scratch of stubble over his upper lip is delicious. It feels so good it makes you a little lightheaded.
Your mouth slips open, inhaling as he exhales. You feel the warmth of the smoke entering your mouth, taste the bitterness of it on your tongue as the two of you fit together like puzzle pieces.
You're preparing to let your craned neck fall back to his lap, to close your lips in an effort to keep the smoke inside of your lungs — but then Eddie is tightening his grip on the back of your head incrementally, and instead of pulling back, he slots your lips together more firmly. Your heart skips in surprise and you can practically hear the blood pumping in your ears. Your brain seems to white out for a moment, unable to focus on anything that isn't Eddie's soft lips moving tentatively against your own.
A thin cloud of smoke escapes into the air around you as your mouths begin to move together in synchrony. You can't hold back a soft gasp of surprise when Eddie's tongue swipes warmly across the seam of your lips. Your heart pounds, your mouth opening beneath his again without hesitation.
The kiss that follows is a frenzied rush of lips and teeth and tongue. Hunger blossoms in the pit of your stomach. But it somehow manages to feel so languid, so sensual beneath the relaxed fogginess of your high.
Your back arches, shoulders lifting from Eddie's thigh to meet him more than halfway. The movement prompts his hands to find your hips and Eddie is tugging you upright in a flash. Suddenly you're wedged between his legs, practically in his lap. Your knees curling around his waist as he leans farther into your space, chasing your warmth until barely any space exists between you.
Your hands slide idly along his body in a slow trail. Each scrape against your palms feels divine. Every inch of him feels like silk under your fingers. The smooth, worn cotton of his tshirt. The tight ringlets of curls at the nape of his neck, a little damp with sweat. The soft give of warm muscle beneath your eager hands on his chest, his arms, his hips. You attempt to memorize every inch of him, your limbs seemingly moving of their own accord, touch-hungry and weightless all at once.
He's so warm and- God, you want to be inside of him. You think you might want to bury yourself beneath his skin and make a home there. He smells like heaven, like sweat and weed and masculine body wash. Your fingertips drag leisurely along the length of his inked arms, inching slow back toward his neck like you have all the time in the world to explore every inch of his body.
Your touch is scorching across his skin, overwhelming and seemingly everywhere at once but simultaneously not enough. It's like all of his wildest dreams have come to life, and Eddie can't fucking believe that this is happening. That you're practically in his lap, your tongue in his mouth, legs draped around his waist, hands tucked beneath the gaping sleeves of his muscle tee to roam freely and grope at the exposed skin of his hips.
Eddie's head cranes just a bit to the side in an attempt to deepen the kiss, licking his way deeper. His own arms curl around your waist, tightening at the curve of your spine to tug your body flush against his. The action has a needy noise pushing its way into his mouth as your tongues explore one another with warm, wet licks. He groans at a particularly slow curl of your tongue, he swears he feels it in his fucking balls.
He's so turned on he thinks his dick might explode. Eddie changes your position in another quick movement, holding you flush to his chest before he's directing you to lie back against the mattress and slotting himself right there  between your thighs.
Despite the way your head has gone a little fuzzy from lack of oxygen, you can't find it in yourself to pull away from him. All you can do is slide your hands from Eddie's shoulders and up into his hair. Tingles shoot from your fingertips as they slide into his frizzy curls, yanking some of them free from his bun just to feel the way they tangle around your fingers. A hot flush of arousal pulses in your cunt at the satisfied noise that Eddie lets out when you tug lightly, and that noise alone has you suddenly frantic.
You can't get enough of him; his sounds, his taste, the press of his warm body between your thighs.
The hand he isn't using to support himself against the mattress rubs along your waist of its own accord, his fingertips slipping beneath the hem of your shirt to brush featherlight over your skin. You swear sparks erupt in his wake.
You pull back just enough to murmur his name desperately against his lips, but the syllables are barely out before you're licking into his mouth again with unbridled hunger. Eddie's groan meets your ears in response to your weak plea — what you're begging for, you're not quite sure, but then his hips drop against yours with a slow roll and that-
Oh, that is exactly what you needed.
You can't help the soft whimper that falls into his mouth. The warm line of his half-hard cock pressing against your cunt through the thin barrier of your pajama bottoms has you dizzy. Eddie grinds hips against yours in another slow roll, clothed erection pressing soft into your cunt and prompting the seam on your shorts to nudge at your clit. You both groan in sync, parted lips barely brushing through the breathless sounds.
You also can't help the way you lift your hips in time with each grind of his length against you. The warm weight of his balls squishes against the fabric of your shorts every time his pelvis drags over your own. The thin cotton feels far too thick of a barrier currently between you and his cock.
Ringed fingers sneak up a little farther beneath your shirt, his hand tightening over your naked breast, and you keen at the feeling. He alternates between brushing the calloused pad of his thumb over your nipple and covering the area with his palm to give it a soft squeeze. His lips fall slack against your own, too busy focussing on the way his fingers release and then grope again and again, the kind of distracted intrigue that could only be a result of his high.
A soft whine falls from your lips after a minute of putting up with his lazy fondling. You tug at the hair between your fingers again and nip encouragingly at his lips in a silent plea for a kiss. His mouth finally resumes moving against your own, and you gratefully allow him to direct the kiss. You give him full control of the pace, which turns out to be a give and take of desperate licks into your mouth followed by gentle caresses of his spit-slick lips against your own. Lips smack each time you part, tongues sliding together wetly, heaving breaths rush in and out of your noses as you both attempt to pull as much oxygen in as humanly possible in an effort to not break apart.
Your fingers find the knob of his spine, and you tug on the collar at the back of his shirt in silent question. Eddie answers by pushing back up on his knees to yank the fabric over his head in a quick movement. His tattooed chest heaves with slightly labored breaths and you watch him with rapt attention, your eyes drawn to the tiny patch of hair nestled between his pecs and lightly dusted around his nipples. Then your focus drops to the thicker trail that leads down into the waistband of his pants. The pale skin beneath the hair glistens with sweat, and good God you want to taste it-
But you're only granted a few seconds to ogle his torso before Eddie is dipping back down to catch your lips with his, your mouths immediately separating just enough that he can strip you of your own top.
As soon as your naked chest is exposed to him, Eddie is dragging his lips down your body in a slow trail. He pauses for a moment to kiss a spot just below your ear, his voice raspy when he speaks, “You good? This alright?” He checks quietly.
You reach up to tangle a hand in his hair again, a breathless sigh leaving your lips as you feel the warmth of his mouth pressing against your neck, “Good, yeah. Very, very alright.”
Eddie wastes no time, his lips trailing lower. He leaves a series of wet, open-mouthed kisses to your exposed breasts, relishing in the way you react to his mouth, the way your spine arches up from the mattress at the attention.
“Jesus H. Christ. 's incredible,” Eddie mumbles, his words slurred against your chest as he bites and sucks at the skin on the side of your breast. His head has gone hazy with lust, his fingers slipping beneath your body to grab a desperate fistful of your ass, “Hand to God. I swear, I've never fuckin' seen more perfect-”
You interrupt the filth spewing from his mouth with an entirely unintentional moan, slightly overwhelmed by the influx of sensations. His praise in your ears. The feeling of his fingertips sinking into the plush of your ass. The prominent bulge in his bottoms dragging against you.
Eddie curses under his breath, taking your nipple into his mouth and biting down softly before immediately soothing his tongue over it in apology.
Your brain is a little fuzzy. Sweetly faded and hazy at the edges, but somehow, each touch and sound between the two of you feels heightened — Magnified and all that more intense. As if your high has somehow managed to mute everything on earth except for Eddie.
You release his hair in favor of sliding your hands down his back to grope the globes of his ass over his pajama bottoms while his hips continue to rock forward in a dizzying rhythm. A knead to the flesh there has Eddie whining sinfully against your tongue and your pussy fucking throbs in response.
"Baby," Eddie pants into your mouth, his voice nearly cracking with need, "Take 'em off, please- Baby? c'n we-?"
He doesn't finish the question but you nod, nose brushing against his as your hands slip underneath the waistband of his pants. Your fingers are very nearly trembling while you shove the fabric down below the curve of his ass.
You feel the moment that his cock springs free and you immediately have to crane your neck down to take a peek — The urge to see him is too strong. And God is it a glorious sight.
Flushed red at the tip and achingly hard— Jesus it's thick, gloriously thick. His pubes are dark and untamed around the base, hiding just how big he truly is. It's the most gorgeous cock you've ever fucking seen and it's bumping softly against the crotch of your shorts, wetting the fabric with smeared pre-cum that Eddie's fucking leaked over the head. He's wet with need, same as you, and the thought makes you feel fucking insane.
Which means you ogle perhaps longer than you should.
A needy grumble rises in Eddie's throat that has you snapping out of it suddenly and bringing a hand up into the narrow space between your faces. It takes a moment with the dryness of smoke lingering on your tongue, but you manage to gather enough spit to lick a wet stripe up your palm and fingers, and then you're reaching down to curl your fingers around him.
Half-naked is practically Eddie's default state when he's stoned or drunk, you've drooled over just the outline of him in his underwear more times than you can count, but you're still somehow surprised by the sheer size of him in your hand. The weight of him. Long and curved just a little to the right — so silky and so soft under the slippery glide of your fist. You work your hand slow over him, rewarded with a beautiful little groan of thanks from the man above you, the sound of it guttural as you begin to jerk him with slick strokes.
“Ohhh my god, that- that's, j-jesus-” His voice fucking cracks.
Eddie's hips jump as he fucks into your fist. His eyes roll back, a little delirious just from the sight of your smaller hand wrapped around him. You switch from long strokes in favor of shorter ones where you can focus your attention on his tip, your thumb swiping back and forth over the head of his cock with each flick of your wrist. Eddie doesn't even recognize the sounds leaving his mouth. The combination of his high and the wet glide of your hand is too maddening to care.
You make your own small noise of amazement that has Eddie coming back to himself suddenly. He yanks your shorts down your thighs with an impatient huff, pulling away from you just long enough to discard the last of both of your clothing before he's caging you back against the mattress once again. And then his lips are making their way to your neck, kissing and sucking lightly between these oh-so pretty little groans against your throat, his hips bucking restlessly into your own all the while.
You give an eager cant of your hips, feet pressing into the mattress until the tip of Eddie's cock brushes the seam of your cunt. Eddie makes another sweet little noise of surprise that has you draping an arm around his neck, your face pressing into his shoulder as you repeat the movement with intention.
You want him so bad your pussy fucking aches.
“Ed, can we, please?” You whisper desperately into his skin.
The question is barely out before he's nodding against your throat, bracing his knees and lining himself up with your hole. His hips push forward until just the tip of his cock presses into the wet heat of your cunt, but good lord-
He's so big. It feels a bit like he's splitting you right down the middle, but it's so good. He rocks his hips forward slowly, each little push stretching you wider than you thought possible. Every time you think he can't possibly have more to give you, he slips in a little deeper. He reaches so far inside of you that your eyes roll back, a long, drawn-out moan tearing past your lips at the slow stretch, the dull fullness behind your navel that you can nearly feel in your throat.
“Oh, fuck.” You whine breathlessly, hands scrambling for purchase along his skin. Your nails bite into the sweat-slick muscles of his back before slipping lower still. You find the dimples at the base of his spine, nails raking over the pale white skin of his hips and ass. Your whole body goes lax underneath him as the wiry bush of his pubes finally meets your own.
The noise Eddie releases into the curve of your shoulder borders on a whimper, his breath hot against your skin as he rocks his hips forward again and again. His weight pushes you deeper into the mattress, his cock grinding desperately against the absolute deepest parts of you. He gasps with each nudge of your cervix against the head of his cock, practically humping you through the haze of his high as he tries to give you time to adjust to his size.
“Y'good?” Eddie pants into your neck, words slurred together with need. He feels half a second from fucking begging when your legs spread further, your thighs falling back toward the mattress and allowing him even deeper and holy fucking shit. “Ohh, c'n I move?” He’s all but whining now, “Please. God, please can I-”
“Uh huh, 'm good, 'm good, I-” Your assurances cut off with a wail when he begins to pull back and drive in again with a sharp snap of his hips. Your fingers tighten where his hairy thighs meet his ass, nails biting into taut muscle in an attempt to ground yourself. “Ohmygod.” You whine, eyes glazing over with the heat that pools behind your navel with each thrust.
“Y'feel so good.” Eddie mumbles, slack mouth pressed to the sensitive spot below your ear.
He pushes up on his elbows, but only enough that you can gape up at him with hooded eyes, brows furrowed with just how fucking good he feels.
“Fuucck, y're pretty,” Eddie groans between deep thrusts, his words drawing a moan from your lips. He brings one hand to your cheek, thumb pushing into the plush cushion of your swollen lips before he's covering them with his own in a messy kiss, “Y're so hot. So. fucking. perfect.”
His words are spoken quietly against your lips between thrusts, his nose squishing your own in close proximity, and you draw him back down to your mouth in a hungry kiss, teeth clashing.
The pace Eddie has set is intoxicating, pulling nearly all the way out before slamming his hips forward to fill you up again with deep thrusts. Your moans are loud, wanton and uncontrollable under the haze of your high, only somewhat muffled by Eddie's mouth covering yours.
In a frenzy, you find yourself kissing away the sweat beading on his upper lip. You lave your tongue softly over the light prickle of stubble at his cupid’s bow, but you're only granted a moment to relish in the scratch of it before Eddie is nosing at your cheek and urging you back into a scorching, albeit distracted, kiss. His fingers wrap around your upper thigh to hitch your leg a little higher on his hip, rocking his hips forward again and managing to hit impossibly deeper inside of you. He drives into that spongey spot behind your navel and you writhe-
“Oh-” You gasp into his mouth in surprise, head gone fuzzy as he continues fucking your at the new angle, “Eddie!  I, fuck-”
He responds with a groan. His lips leave yours to forge a trail of biting kisses over your skin. He wants to kiss you everywhere. He wishes he could kiss every inch of your skin and still keep fucking you. You're weak to do anything but lie there and take it and it makes Eddie feel dizzy with power. Your arms curl around his shoulders again, head thrown back against the bed in ecstasy.
Eddie's mouth is seemingly everywhere, lips sucking at the underside of your jaw, tongue leaving a wet trail over your collarbones and throat, teeth sinking into the curve of your shoulder. Each new sensation sends another spark of arousal down your spine, sends your brain farther into the clouds.
It’s almost too much. It has you tightening your thighs around his hips and rolling sideways over the bed to switch positions, his cock slipping free as you find yourself straddling his waist with only a slight wobble from the momentum. Eddie makes a quiet noise of surprise and petulance, but it melts into a grateful, high-keening moan when you sink back down onto him. Your hips press flush to his as you set a new, slower rhythm of your own making.
“Oh, Jesus,” Eddie whines in amazement, hands tracing over the curve of your waist and breasts as you rock back and forth onto him, “Shit. You look so good like this.” His praise comes out through heaving breaths.
You rest one hand supportively over the sparse hair at the center of his chest, the fingers of your other hand trailing up the skin of his arm until you can tangle your hands together against the mattress. You grind your hips down harder, deeper, and Eddie groans, his hips bucking up unconsciously to meet you halfway.
Your forearms fall on either side of his head. Your weight pressing down against his chest has Eddie immediately fisting your ass and thighs in a bruising grip to help guide your movements. You lean down to bury your face in his neck as you slide back and forth along his length in a slow rhythm, your legs already aching with exertion even with the help of his strong arms.
The loud slapping of skin meeting skin every time the backs of your thighs meet his own rings loudly in your ears. Your staggered breathing falls against his lightly stubbled jaw, lips leaving distracted kisses in apology for the way your hot breath fans out against his already sweaty neck.
“God, Eds,” You moan into his skin, sucking a mark against his throat while he uses his tight grip on your hips to fuck you down onto himself, “You feel. So f-fucking good-”
You let out a yelp as Eddie twists your bodies again with a grunt, and suddenly his body above yours once more, his hand on your shoulder as he sinks back inside of you.
“Need it faster. Harder.” He pants, “That okay?”
You nod, head rubbing against the mattress, “Yes. Please, yeah-”
Eddie trails his fingers down the back of your thigh and guides you to wrap your legs around his waist, and then he’s fucking into you in quick, punishing thrusts. Your moans only increase in volume at the change of pace, your whole body seemingly flushed with heat. Your hands scrape desperately over Eddie's back as he pounds into you, nails cutting into pale skin.
“Shit,” Eddie groans, his forehead dropping down against yours in an unexpectedly tender movement, though it does little to take away from the sound of your bedframe creaking, the wet squelch every time he drives back into you. “God, 're you close?” He asks desperately.
“Uh-huh.” You confirm immediately, brain hazy and muscles tensing with each hard thrust that brings you closer and closer to your peak.
Eddie's nose rubs soft along your cheekbone as he nods, joining your mouths in a kiss that's more breath and tongue than anything else. You struggle to focus on moving your mouth against his as your orgasm begins to creep into the corners of your vision. Eddie's weight drops down onto one elbow to allow him the stability to reach in between you. His hand settles over your pelvis, his fingers swiping messy over your clit as his quick thrusts grow shakier.
“C'mon, sweetheart,” Eddie murmurs against your lips, “C'mon, I really-” He's cut off by the groan that rumbles up his throat when you pulse around him, the sound entirely animalistic. “Goddd. N-need you t' fuckin' cum, baby, please.”
His voice has gone husky with arousal and exertion, the sound has your eyes rolling back. It only takes a handful more thrusts like that, with the help of his fingertips tracing light circles over your clit. Your whole body tenses as your orgasm crashes over you, legs clamping around his hips. You whine brokenly in his mouth, a sharp gasp immediately following as you scrape your fingers down his shoulders, your whole body shaking as you come undone around him.
The increased tightness of your muscles spurs on Eddie’s own orgasm within a few thrusts, and then he's following you over the edge. He buries his face in the curve of your neck as he cums with a whine, hips stuttering twice before burying deep. His weight crushes you to the mattress, your back arching at the warmth of his release filling you. Your eyes water with the strength of your orgasm, Eddie's hips unconsciously grinding into your own as he rides out his own, whimpering into your ear with the aftershocks.
You both remain unmoving for a long minute, sweaty chests heaving as you struggle to catch your breath and come back to yourself. You card gently through Eddie's sweaty hair, his curls having long since broken free from the hair tie that had once held them back from his face. You fingers trail thoughtlessly through the damp tresses while Eddie's hot breath fans out over your neck. His dick twitches inside you when your fingertips scrape softly against his scalp and you struggle to bite back a quiet laugh of amusement. Your muscles tense even with the smothered laugh, and Eddie groans as your cunt pulses around him.
He huffs when he catches the look on your face, entirely dramatic as he begins to roll away, but he only maintains that feigned annoyance for about half a second before he's cackling madly and dragging you into his chest. He nips sharply at your shoulder as he tugs you into his sweaty chest and buries his face in your hair, fingers beginning to trace soft shapes over the skin of your hip.
“You feelin' okay?” He murmurs after a moment.
“Yeah,” You confirm with a sigh, already relaxing into his touch. Your brain is pleasantly dulled from the combination of the lingering high and your orgasm. “Yeah, 'm great.”
“Oh, same, yeah. Super great. I just, uh-” Eddie pauses and you find yourself focussing on the gentle caress of his fingers along your skin, “I wanted to check, y'know.. Make sure you weren't havin' any.. I dunno, just, regrets-”
You're readjusting in a flash so that you can look at him directly, your head settling onto his bicep as your eyes flick between his, “I don't. Regret it, I mean.”
It feels much too serious of a conversation to be having considering how deliriously high you currently feel, the previous strenuous activity did little to clear your head, but you mean it with every fiber of your being. You've been hung up on Eddie for what feels like forever now, the thought of him outright regretting the events of the last hour- It has you feeling sick, stomach sinking and twisting and souring all at once.
Eddie's throat bobs as he swallows, “Just, I mean.. Y're real stoned and- Shit. I, fuck. I probably shouldn't've-”
“Eddie,” You cut him off, feeling desperate with the need to reassure him, “You smoked just as much as I did—probably more. I-I wanted this. I wanted it, like, really bad. Unless..” Your heart drops, “Do.. Do you regret-?”
“No!” Eddie disagrees immediately, and vehemently — With urgency to correct you. “No. No, sweetheart, I do not regret it. Could never regret you. I mean, that was- Shit, I've been wanting to do that since-”
Your hand finds the warmth of his chest, fingers scraping at the small tattoo there, “You have?”
Eddie nods his head against the blankets, sweaty curls sticking up every which way around his head like a messy halo, “Yeah.”
“Does that mean.. I mean, would you maybe wanna do it again sometime? But, like, when we're not high as all hell?”
Eddie's dimpled grin has an embarrassingly wild burst of butterflies erupting inside of you, “Yeah. Yeah, I really do.”
You lay like that for a while, pressed together despite the heat. His fingers wander over your palms, tracing the lines there while you watch the way his rings shift. Your naked bodies separated only by a thin layer of sweat. The ceiling fan pushing light waves of blessedly cool air over your skin.
After a few minutes Eddie suddenly tears himself out of your grip, and he does it so abruptly that your brain is hardly able to comprehend the loss of him. He lets out a quiet yelp of distress and nearly collapses face-first into the blankets in a mad scramble toward your legs. He manhandles you until you're sprawled on your back, pushing your thighs apart before flopping entirely ungracefully onto his belly in the narrow space he's made between them.
As you push up onto your elbows to peer down at him, Eddie is simply stroking his fingers soft up and down the length of your cum-soaked folds. His eyes are alight with wonder while he watches his own spend begin to leak out. One of his thumbs catches it as it falls, and he pulls his hand back for just a moment to get a better look at the pearlescent mixture of your combined cum.
“What're you doing?” You giggle after a long moment of simply watching him.
Eddie's head snaps up with such surprise it looks as if he might've forgotten you were even there, if such a thing were possible.
“Just, uh.. Admiring my handiwork.” He grins like he's all-too pleased with himself, dimples poking into his cheeks.
“It's our handiwork, actually,” You correct playfully, “Half of that's mine, and- No, wait. Actually, 's all mine now.” You tell him triumphantly.
His eyes narrow in confusion and you redirect your gaze pointedly. His attention follows your own, eyes flicking briefly toward his own hand, where the cum has begun to drip slow down his thumb toward the meat of his palm.
“What, this?” He questions in amusement.
“Yes that.” You tell him with a frown, “'s mine.” You have to bite back an honest-to-god cackle at the entirely contrived look of betrayal on his face. “Put it back.” You challenge.
Eddie's eyes roll in irritation as he repeats your words mockingly, his voice thrown high in an exceptionally poor imitation of your own, but he does dutifully drop his hand down between your thighs again to attempt to push the cum back inside you.
He looks pleased as punch once he's done. He looks at your cunt with a dopey grin on his face, cheeks still pink with exertion and hair wild.
“Don't miss me too much, pretty. A'right? I'll be seein' you again real soon.” Eddie murmurs softly, eyes never once leaving your cunt. He punctates his words by pressing a gentle kiss to your mound, just a hair's breadth from your clit.
And then that dumb, dazed smile takes over his face again.
You squint down at him, “Was.. Were you talking to me or my-”
“Was talkin' to this pretty pussy.” Eddie says matter of factly, stroking his hand over the coarse hairs between your thighs in the way one might pet an animal.
“Okay.” You manage, laughter preventing you from saying anything else.
Eddie tugs a large chunk of loose curls across his face and lays his cheek to your upper thigh. He stays like that for a moment, hidden behind the curtain of his hair, big brown eyes blown about as wide as he can manage through his high.
“..Do you still wanna fuck me?”
He pouts. It's ridiculous. It's adorable.
You can't pretend to mull it over for more than a few seconds, your cheeks ache with the need to smile. He makes you so happy you feel borderline deranged.
Your lips quirk up even as you sigh dramatically, “Regrettably? Yes.”
He fucking cheers.
He drums his hands enthusiastically against your thighs and yells so loud in victory that all you can do is laugh and cover your ears until he's finished.
You don't regret it, not a goddamn bit.

Anonymous asked: Can i request a fic where either the reader reveals during a pizza and beers hangout she was a phone sex operator for a brief time and everyone is shocked and one of them jokingly asks if she was any good and she whispers something dirty in their ear and it changes their friendship
Cw: fem!reader, allusions to male masturbation, dirty talk 1.7k words
“Come again?”
“I used to work a sex hotline,” you shrug like it was no big deal.
“No way,” Eddie shakes his head. “I don’t believe you.”
You hear Steve and the others giggle around you, also in disbelief.
“Wanna bet?”
“Try me.” He wants to call your bluff because no way in hell did he not know this about you. You always were reserved when it came to talking about sex; you never had you seemed promiscuous.
You hold up your hand to your ear, pretending it is a phone, and Eddie follows your lead.
“Ring ring,” he giggles.
“Hello.” You changed the pitch of your voice to be more sultry.
“Hi,” he smirks.
“Can I get a name, handsome?”
“ Eddie”
“Mmmm, hi, Eddie. I’m Candy.”
“Candy?”
He breaks character, but you don’t.
“the boys say it’s because I’m so sweet.” You fake giggle.
“This is my first time calling. I’m not sure what to do here.”
“That’s okay, I’ll walk you through it… you want to get comfortable for me?”
Eddie looks around the room at the others, who are trying to stifle their giggles. This night was supposed to be chill, with pizza and beers. He wasn’t really sure how you all ended up here.
“I’m comfortable.” He says without actually moving.”
“I wish I could see; you sound so sexy.” You sigh.
Another giggle leaves Eddie’s lips because who is this person who’s taken over your body?
“Yeah? you wish you could see be, Dollface?” Playing into it more.
You lean in to whisper so only he can hear it this time. “oh yeah, big boy; I bet your cock is already nice and hard for me. Such a good boy, I want you to fill me.” You sit back, take a loose tendril, twirl his hair around your finger, and watch Eddie’s eyes widen at what you just said.
“Oh-okay, that’s enough.” He chuckles, trying not to give away how turned on he just got. “I believe you!”
You sit back with a giggle and grab another slice of pizza like nothing just happened.
Everyone looked at you with shock.
Eddie quickly gets up and excuses himself to go to the bathroom.
“What did you say?!” Robin begs.
You shrug in response like it was another day at work… which it has been.
“Damn, is it hot in here?” Steve pops the collar of his shirt.
“You guys need to loosen up, my god.”
While you were still enjoying your pizza, Eddie was having a crisis. Never had he thought of you in that way until moments ago, listening to those filthy words slip from your lips.
“I bet your cock is already nice and hard for me. Such a good boy, I want you to fill me,” your words replayed in his mind while he tried to fight the blood rushing to his stiffening cock.
He can’t go back out there like this. Eddie splashed cold water on his face to try to snap him out of it, but it didn’t help.
A quick rap on the door startles Eddie out of his inner monologue.
“You okay, big boy? You’ve been in there fifteen minutes.” He hears you laugh from the other side.
Had it really been that long?
Eddie’s issue had not been resolved; in fact, it had worsened as he tried to push down the thought of you naked and spread out for him… talking to him like that.
“Yeah-I-uh- just a minute.” Eddie wanted to pull his hair out at how frustrated you had made him.
You were just pals, bubbies, amigos.
You weren’t attractive… were you?
Eddie never thought to look at you in that way; you’re just a friend, always had been, always will be… unless?
The more Eddie thought about it, the more he realized he did think your hair looked really pretty tonight. The way you always did your makeup really brought out your beautiful features…and when he got a whiff of your delicious perfume when you twirled his hair, he thought his.
“You sure?” You try to jiggle the door handle, but it’s locked.
“Shit,” Eddie curses under with breath.
“Come on, Ed, talk to me, please?”
You hear the lock unlatch and watch the doorknob slowly turn as Eddie pokes his head out.
“Hi,” he’s short and sounds a bit out of breath.
“I hope what I said didn’t make you uncomfortable.”
Ed saw the worried look in your eyes.
“No! Well, I mean, yes, but…no.”
“Yes, but no?”
Eddie let out a deep sigh. He didn’t see a way out of this. He stepped aside to let you in and shut the door behind you.
“Eddie?” You look up at him.
“Hm?”
His eyes snap to your concerned face.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t think it was a big deal! It did it all the time for work; I just… I don’t know. I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay.”
“No, it’s not. clearly, I overstepped a boundary-“
“You’re not the only one.”
“What do you mean?”
Eddie moves his strategically placed hands to reveal the tent formed in his jeans and watches as your face falls into amused shock.
You cup your mouth to stifle an unexpected giggle.
“That’s not the reaction a guy wants when he shows a girl how turned on he is.”
“I’m sorry, I just!-didn’t think?”
“It’s okay. I’m just trying to get rid of it, but it’s not going away.”
“You mean?”
“I’m waiting it out.”
“Oh, ok.” You nod awkwardly.
An awkward silence washes over the both of you as you try so hard not to stare at his crotch.
“Don’t worry, I’m not going to ask for your help if that’s what you’re thinking.”
“I wasn’t!”
“Ok…”
Another very uncomfortable silence settled between the two of you as you fiddled with the hem of your shirt, trying to do everything in your power so as not to look down.
“I um… I guess I’ll just.” You point to the door that he’s blocking.
“Uh. Ok,” he nods and steps to the side.
You close the door behind you but don’t leave. You lean against the door and take a deep breath, trying to make sense of the evening.
Why did the thought of turning Eddie on excite you? He’s a friend. Just a friend. I always had and always will be.
With a deep breath, you go to push yourself up off the door, but before you’re able to, you hear your name being moaned from the other side of the door.
You froze. You knew you should move, but your feet were locked in place. More heavy breaths and the sound of muffled moans seeped from under the door gap, and you pressed your ear to the door.
Eddie was jerking off because of you… and you liked it?
Eddie bit back screaming your name as he finally released himself into the bathroom tissue. Finally, he could return to rejoin everyone without being physically uncomfortable.
He discarded his release, tucked himself back in, washed his hands, and unlocked the door, but he was ambushed when you fell onto him when he went to open the door.
You let out a squeak as you lost your balance, falling into Eddie as the door was opened from under you.
“Woah,” Eddie catches you before you’re able to fall. His rage hands wrap around your biceps, gripping tightly to brace your fall.
“Were you spying on me?”
“Oh god, sorry” you’re so embarrassed. The whole evening has been one shit show. You scramble to find your fitting to create space between you and Eddie.
“You were spying on me!”
“Shhhhh! Keep your voice down.”
“You totally were spying on me!” He accused.
“You’re the one who moaned my name!” You defend.
Eddie’s cheeks reddened.
“You’re the one who said all those… things!” his hands flailed.
“You’re the one who egged it on!”
“So!”
“So?”
“Yeah, so!”
“Woah, guys, what’s going on here?” Steve pops his head around the corner.
“Nothing,” you both glare.
“Ohhhhhkayyyyyyyy,” Steve turns a heel and walks back to the kitchen to grab a drink.
“Eddie,” you sigh, “I don’t want to argue. This is dumb, and we can pretend it never happened.”
“We could, but I gotta know.”
“What’s that?”
“Did you like it?” He took a step closer, filling the gap between you.
“What?” You look up at him.
“I asked if you like listening to me?” he brushed your hair behind your shoulder.
You gulp, not expecting Eddie’s demeanour to switch on a dime.
“I… I don’t know?”
“I think you did, and you’re too scared to admit it.” You can smell him. He is so close to you.
“Eddie, what are you doing?” You watch as he leans in closer.
“Just trust me.” His hands find the back of your neck, pulling you close.
“Eddie?”
“Let me try something.”
“Kay,” you whisper.
Eddie’s lips graze yours ever so lightly before he presses them fully.
A million and one thoughts run through your mind as Eddie kisses you.
You blame the cheap beer for letting this happen. You blame the beer for liking it. You blame the beer for kissing him back. You blame the beer for the tongue slip and the beer for how you wanted to moan when he pulled away.
“Woah”
“Yea woah,” you repeated dumbly.
“um… did you like it?”
“Yeah… did you?”
“Yeah.”
“cool… now what?”
“go out with me,” Eddie states confidently.
“Like a date?”
“what else would it be?” He chuckles.
“I don’t know?” You shrug, embarrassed that Eddie is getting you all flustered.
“You’re cute when you don’t know what to say.” He smirks.
“I’m cute?” You never thought hearing Eddie say those words would send butterflies fluttering through your tummy.
Eddie doesn’t answer verbally; he leans in to kiss you again to confirm his statement.
“We should get back to the others.” You sigh as you pull away.
“You didn’t answer me.”
“You didn’t ask me anything.”
“Yes, I did. I asked you out.”
“No, you said go out with me. That’s a statement, not a question.”
“Are you kidding me?”
“No,” Yes, you were totally messing with him.
“Will you go out on a date with me?”
“Just say yes! You’ve been gone for half an hour!” You hear Robin yell from the living room.
“Robin!” You hear Steve scold.
“What?”
You can’t help but laugh and can’t believe the next world’s coming out of your mouth.
“Okay, I’ll go out with you, Eddie.”

disposible heroes | 𝐞𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐞 𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐱 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫
summary Eddie is assumed to be dead, you belived it, until music found his way into your live again, and a promise he's still alive is evident (7.2k)
warnings fem!reader, fluff, hurt/comfort, mutual pining, yearning etc, slowburn, idiots in love!!!, english is not my first language so I apologise if there’s some mistakes, not proof read!, canon-ish complaiant?
a/n: thank you to @sage-glowstick for all your help as I was writing this <33
“You know I’m here if you need me, right?” Robin’s voice felt as if it were coming from a thousand miles away, even if she was beside you, her fingers running through your hair, petting you softly.
“I know” Your voice came out croaky, heavy, raspy. Tears were still falling from your eyes, you felt them, the coldness of the salty water running down your reddened and hot cheek.
“Anything you need.” She repeated, wiping it away, her finger on the apple of your cheek a bit longer, trying to make you feel seen.
“It just doesn't feel real.” You whispered, not being able to actually say it fully out loud.
“I know.” She imitated your low tone, standing up from the bed as she looked out the window. “It’s a lovely day out, we could go for a walk.”
“In a bit, maybe.” You gave her a forced, half smile to her. She imitated it before nodding, standing up to finally leave the room, leaving the door ajar.
It was a good day out, sunny and without a cloud, the leaves on the tree outside your window moving slowly.
But he wasn’t there.
As far as you knew, his body still laid lifeless on the fractured darkened ground of the upside down.
And you hadn’t saved him.
Guilt consumed you.
It was worse, you had to lie to Wayne, you had to lie to the only person that knew him as much as you did, that cared for him as much as you did.
You buried an empty coffin a couple of weeks ago.
And all you had was an old shirt of his, and his guitar pick necklace you had once gifted him.
Your hands closed around it, one last tear falling down as you did so. I miss you, i’m sorry were the only thoughts running through your mind.
After a long time of just thinking, your eyes vacant and your thoughts going a bit too fast. As soon as Robin came to check on you once again, she knew where you were headed off to.
The mix he had made you was still in your car, playing his music as if he was next to you. If you concentrated enough, you could still hear him sing them, in his usual chaotic goofy voice and tone he always used to get you to laugh, though if he was being sirius or was in his own little world he actually had a beautiful voice, an angelical one if you were the one listening.
A weird combination of crying and laughter was now consuming you, as you finally parked your car in the same spot you had for the last few weeks.
It was a weird feeling, you became more yourself the closer you walked to his grave, the closer you came to seeing his name carved in stone, the fuller you felt, as if he was walking beside you.
The wind rustled in the leaves, as birds stopped singing, the sun still shining, your skin soaking it in, your puffy eyes squinting harder because of it.
It was a very scenic moment, you thought as you sat down in front of the carved stone.
“Hey Moon.” You whispered with a heavy heart. The stinging coming back to the back of your head as you looked at the faded graffiti you had cleaned yesterday. “I brought you a bit of music, I thought you might like it.” You fumbled through your bag, trying to find the little portable cassette player you had saved up for, that he had drawn in the back of with one of his markers. EM was here could still be seen in a faint white ink. “I finally got you the Metallica cassette you wanted.” You half smiled, trying not to break down again.
The first guitar notes from the song battery filled the air, you let your body hit the ground right as the bass started, your feet stomping at the melody.
“You’d love to play the guitar solo of this one.” You teased him, mumbling to the sky, your eyes closed, your body relaxing a bit more.
The little portable player was starting to make that funny noise it had been making for the last couple of days, that dirty interference that made you angry every time, interrupting your time, it only infuriated you more now that you were here, trying to be close to him once more. Your arm reached to it, your eyes yet unopened, spanking it a bit, hopeful that it would go away.
It didn’t.
It started going in and out of focus, as if something was tampering with it, or water had crawled in, making the switch to the next song sound as if it was coming from deep underwater, as if a wave had just engulfed the speaker.
“Fuck’s sake.” You complained through gritted teeth, grabbing it and holding it up, wiggling it a bit. As you did, the muffled sound went away, and the thing that should not be started playing.
You lowered the volume, and let the speaker sit next to your ear, letting it sing only for you.
It didn’t give you any trouble for a while, until it started acting up again. This time, the volume went up and down. At first you thought it was random, until you started paying attention. It seemed like a message, and grief invaded you enough to make you believe impossible things.
Your shaking hands grabbed it, pulling it a top of your lap, looking back at where his name was carved before whispering “Don’t fuck with me” as you played the backwards button. Letting the song start from the beginning once again. “I swear to god Eddie if you’re fucking with me I’ll kill you again.” You spat as you mumbled angrily at the air, hoping to be right.
To your astonished surprise, it seemed to work.
The volume went up, as if it was a code, as if he was screaming. If you were honest, you could feel him screaming and yelling the lyrics in that chaotic voice you learned to love and miss.
The very first word of the song spiked up messenger, it felt obvious enough, though it could just be a dumb coincidence. lurking beneath the sea made the volume go up, lowering immediately after it. You kept listening, writing it on the sketch pad you always carried in your bag.
Once the song ended, the previous blank paper had sparesed lyrics over it.
It read a confusing mess that you had to bring to Dustin as soon as possible. You recited it over and over again while you were speeding on the car.
The motor of your car was louder with every gear shift you made, the little orange arrow in your speedometer kept rising, but you payed it no mind. In a similar manner, you didn’t care if your car skidded anytime you made a left turn, the only thing in your mind where the little words you had heard louder than the others.
You didn’t care if your car blocked his driveway, or if the keys were still in the ignition. The bag on your left shoulder felt havier now that it was guarding the little instrument that felt magic. You hands where still shaking and you could stop fidgeting with his necklace, moving it one swipe left and two right as you made your way to Dustin’s front door, not sure what to say, not sure what to do. You were now anxiously looking down at your feet, and the way they moved through the cobblestone, the bumps that they left on your feet.
You gathered enough courage to bang on his door.
But he was taking a bit too long.
Bang
He still hadn’t come down stairs.
Bang Bang Bang Bang
“Jesus what?” He finally opened the door, the usual annoyed look on his face disappearing once he the way your lips were pressed together.
“Upstairs, now. Code red.”
-
“Can you read it again?” Dustin asked, a pen in his own hand.
“Messenger. Lurking beneath the sea. Forbidden site. Shadows. Underground. Fallen city, living death.” You looked at him, sharing a deep breath. “Then it repeats, Lurking beneath the sea, and ends with not dead”
Dustin stood up, pacing around his room while his hands fidgeted with the pen he had.
“And you’re sure it worked normally before you arrived at the grave?” He inquired, his words pausing between them as he usually did when he was trying to figure out something.
“Look I know it sounds stupid, but… I… It can’t be a coincidence.” He acknowledged just how hopeful and defeated you were, and he gifted you a smile.
“I wanna believe it too, I just, can I hear it now?” You nodded, while you took the little player out of the bag and played the song again. It sounded crystal clear, no interference, no change in volume. “And it changed volume once you were…”
“Yeah, I told you.”
“We should go there, I’ll ask the others to join us there.” He grabbed the talkie while he handed you the phone, letting you call into family video, the number already dialed up.
“Family Video this is Steve how may I help you today?” He sounded as bored as he always was, you could tell he was playing with the telephone chord.
“Steve, can you take your break now?” Your voice was quieter than usual, and that pulled him in, you heard how his elbows hit the table, and the receiver was caught between his cheek and his shoulder.
“Hey honey, everything okay?” His tone was sharper now, you felt the way he was measuring his words, he had become rather used to spreading kindness and handling you with care ever since you had come back, you had no time for that kind of nonsense right now.
“Yeah, that’s why I’m asking you to skip work in the middle of the day.” Your words were coming out sharper and colder than you intended for them to. Irony stinging like a dagger.
“A simple no would also work, y’know.” He answered, a bit hurt, but mostly worried. He knew the number was coming from Dustin’s house, and the only reason you had to go over his house was for one he didn’t dare to think about.
Mostly because the last time you had barged in with Dustin into Family Video he ended diving into cold water, and with a few scars to remember those days by.
“Can you take your break or not? We kinnda need both of you.” You were impatient now, you were speaking faster, snappier, quicker.
“What the hell is going on?” You could physically see him holding the bridge of his nose, his eyes closed while he loudly breathed out into the receiver.
“Steve! Please?” You were begging now, the frustration of wanting to let him know everything all at once, while trying to be careful to not say too much, the fear that someone might listen to you, the impotence of not being able to do enough, it was all enough to create tears that wouldn’t fall.
“Breathe out.” He reminded you. He didn’t know what was going on, or why you seemed to be so aggravated, but he could tell that it was important enough, a sense of urgency clear in your voice. He took a second, looking at Robin while his eyebrows raised she called the ‘the decision look’ and she knew better than to oppose it. “Is this a code red?” He finally asked, wanting and needing you to say no, his head falling deeper once he heard your muffled yes. “Where are we meeting?”
“Graveyard.” You answer quickly, the iron taste in the inside of your mouth becomes more prominent now that you are speaking again. “Pick Nance up.” You told him before hanging up.
You gave a quick glance over your shoulder to check on Dustin. His words were fast paced, he started the second one while the first was still finishing in his mouth, he had no time to lose, which in a weird way, was reassuring for you. Someone cared as deeply as you did, it made you feel not that alone, seen in a way.
You found your way downstairs, your feet feeling heavier and your chest tightening, a fast thought entered your mind, as it grew bigger so did the worry that accompanied it. What do we do if he is alive?
If Eddie really is alive, and he has been there, all by himself for the last weeks he must be pissed off. Not only that, as far as you remembered he was incredibly injured, so he could be right at death's door, a slip away from being actually gone. And if that was really the case, and he was bloodied, starving and a whisper away from death, you’d never forgive yourself if you didn’t at least just try, you had to try.
But then again, that panic was shared.
Dustin did not talk while you drove. He didn’t complain while you smoked one of his cigarettes that he had left on your glove compartment, he limited himself to stay still, biting his thumb as a response to the nervousness that was now deep inside his body.
You parked where you had a mere hour ago, and the birds sang until you found your way next to his gravestone. You looked at Dustin, needing reassurance, he just nodded. Weirdly enough, you were both in a lost for words.
You sat in silence, looking at his name with clear sandness in both of your faces, you hid a whimper, culpability making its way into your body.
“I feel insane.” You confessed as you buried your face into the palm of your hands. Needing just a second to process it all.
“You’re not the only one.” Dustin added, looking back as soon as he heard a familiar car pull into the secluded place you both were, he gave you a soft pad on your shoulder, his head nodding to it so you’d look.
Steve emerged from the burgundy car, closely followed by Robin, Nancy and Jonathan.
Robin’s eyebrows were raised in concern as she ran to where you were, she wasn’t a fiscal touch person, but lately she had been giving you hugs every chance she had, and this time it was no different. It felt familiar, a sense of reassurance you desperately needed.
“What’s going on?” She whispered into your ear, pulling away slowly, looking deep into your eyes. You waited for the other three to make their way up hill, Nancy’s knuckles were white with how much strength she was holding Jonathan’s hand.
“He’s alive.” Is all you could bring yourself to say, before breaking down.
You weren’t even sure why you were crying this time, maybe it just felt good to say it outloud, maybe it was just too much to manage, or maybe you just needed to relise your bottled up emotions. It didn’t matter.
Nancy’s eyes widened, as Jonathan looked at her, not really understanding why you’d say that. Meanwhile, Steve’s arms crossed in front of his chest, he was having a hard time following you.
“What are you talking about?” Steve’s voice was not only lower, his tone had never been as serious, not a trace or irony or sarcasm in them.
“Dustin?” You plead for help, you didn’t think you could manage to explain it all again. Your hands were busy fidgeting with the cassette player, tracing over the speaker, wishing that it would happen again.
“She uh… Well…” Dustin was having a hard time, the possibility that you might be right was a bit overpowering for him.
“I came over, and played him the new record.” You gestured to the empty cassette case with the white crosses on it, Robin picked it up and looked at it closely, smiling in that that’s sweet way that she does when she finds something charming. “And uh…”
“She says that the cassette player started going wild, the volume going up and down by itself, interference, water sound in it. But we played it again at my house and it sounds perfectly clear. And well… The words that were actually louder were like a call for help and if we look at this logically-” Steve cut the explanation that Dustin had started, a crease in the middle of his forehead.
“That’s insane. You’re seeing things where there are none.” He exclaimed, gesturing wildly with his hands.
“Steve…” Robin pleaded calmly, her eyes asking for him to consider the situation.
“It’s not!” You screamed. You needed them to understand, weirder things had happened to all of you in the last couple of years, this was nothing new. “Will was able to communicate with you!” You looked at Jonathan now, trying to make him understand, trying to win him to your side of the argument.
“Yeah but… He actually… It was his voice.” Jonathan mumbled, trying really hard to believe what you were saying, trying to see your side of the story, but the look of desperation on your face was too close to Joyce’s, and that gave him a bad feeling in his stomach.
“He’s alive.” You repeated, looking back at the way his name was carved into the gray stone, how long it took you to be able to accept it, and how it hopefully would be destroyed, as if it never had happened. “And he’s down there, alone, injured and with no strength, do you really think he’s going to start chatting?” With every word you said your tone became higher and higher.
“Look, there is no way he’s alive…” Steve’s voice sounded defeated as he crouched down, closer to your eye level as you were still sitting down at the floor. “We all saw him down there, bloodied and… I get that you want him back, but you shouldn’t make it our problem.” his cheeks were red, as the vein in his left temple became bigger with every breath he took.
“Your problem?” That made you lose it, it was one thing to not believe you, it was an entirely different thing to call you crazy and accuse you of being delusional. “You were the last one out, if he is alive, it’s your fault.” It had been like poison, hearing you say such things. You knew far too well that you were hurting him, his lips were pressed against each other, his left hand holding on thigh to his arm.
“Guys…” Robin tried to calm you both down, exchanging looks between the both of you, knowing full well this could blow everything up. Knowing that pain can be spread around faster than any disease.
But before she could say anything else, her ears perked up, as she heard the way the wind was rustling through the trees, she was a bit too sensitive to these kinds of things, over vigilant after everything she had seen.
“That’s way out of line…” Steve whispered, with clear guilt creeping in through his voice. “You know that if I could trade it… You know I don’t…” He was truly at a loss for words, not being sure what he could say, an extremely defeated expression rested on his face, his eyes avoiding eye contact with yours, looking at the ground, and the way the grass moved thanks to the wind.
“Guys!” Robin screamed at all of you now, as she picked out a rusting coming deep and low from the little player you were still holding.
Silence broke through all of you, as you looked down and started hearing the beginning of a song you hadn’t hit play for, the red light that usually shined bright when it was on was absent from it.
“Did you–?” Dustin started to ask, you shook your head, as a hopeful smile invaded your lips.
You went quiet, looking down at it, a guitar solo started, before you heard the tape playing backwards until the last phrase of the song was found, volume creeping louder and louder reaching out again could be heard from it, you let out a chuckle, a nervous giggle that went around the group as everyone had now experienced what had happened to you.
“What song is that?” Nancy asked directly at you, her face still in clear shock, mouthing the first words since she got here.
“Welcome home” You mutter, with glee in your eyes. “He is here.” You tell her, knowing that she fully believes you, by the way fear was creeping into her body.
“That could just be a coincidence…” Steve was still cautious, not wanting to fully give in. If he did, that meant that you were right, and that he left him for dead, and he couldn’t handle the guilt that came with it.
“Eddie!” Dustin started screaming, directly into the little player that you would not let go of, repeating his name with urgency. “Buddy, are you really there?”
“It’s changing again.” Robin pointed out, as her fingers traced a pattern on your leg, reassuring you that this was actually happening.
It was exactly as it had happened a few moments ago, when you were by yourself, as if water had creeped inside, mumbled and far away it sounded as the song changed to another one, before becoming crystal clear to your ears. The heavy thumping of the guitars starting again, quieting down before abruptly going up once the lyrics Twenty-one, only son, but he served us well could be heard.
You were tearing up now, and you weren’t even capable of hiding it any longer.
But panic came quick once you heard the next highlighted set of words.
Finished here, greeting death, he’s yours to take away
“What’s this one called?” Jonathan asked this time, his head whipping fastly from Nancy to you.
“Disposable Heroes.”
-
You wasted no time.
Dustin held on tight to his car seat every time your foot pressed the accelerator, everytime you swerved the car you could feel him holding his breath just for him to release it in a nervous manner.
They were all gathered around Steve's kitchen table, arguing over themselves.
You weren’t all there, the only thing going over your head was him, and the promise of actually being able to hear his voice once again.
Your foot kept on tapping the ground, a repetitive pattern that you weren’t able to stop, your hand still playing with his necklace. The chatter of them talking was overwhelming you, they were wasting time and that was infuriating. They were arguing, and you were frozen in the spot. They kept talking and you remained quiet.
Nancy sat down next to you, she still hadn’t said anything either.
Her hand traveled to yours, a top of your thigh. She squeezes your hand, you knew it was her way of telling you i’m here, i’m sorry.
“They’re wasting time.” You finally whispered, your voice hoarse, a trace of sadness in it.
“I don’t think I can go back.” She said at the same time, a trace of guilt in hers.
“You shouldn’t.” You reassured her, not only with your calm voice, but with the same squeeze she gave to your hand, now on her’s. You didn’t have to tell her that you planned on going alone, she had already noticed.
“You can’t.” She finally looked at you, deep into your eyes. You noticed the way her eye twitched before shaking his head. “We barely made it out of there, there’s no way you’ll make it by yourself, and having to carry Eddie or…”
“His body?” She snorted a laugh, trying hard not to giggle, thought the nervous laughter got you too. “This has to be one of the most insane days…” She nodded while you both laughed, catching your breath before she talked.
“I’m watching over you, I’ll stand at the gate. That I can do.” she stood there for a second longer, her lips pursed in that shy smile she usually gave people, the ones she actually cares about.
“Thanks Nance…” You let go of her hand, to give her a playful bump on her shoulder. She nodded as she saw you finally stand up.
Robin looked at you with curious eyes, as she saw you finally leaving the couch. She watched in a quiet manner as she saw you grab the car keys and put them in your pocket, and how you looked around as you put your hair up in a messy ponytail, bumps caused by shaky fingers. She only put her hand around Steve’s arm, her eyes still trained on you, once she saw you pocketing the vodka bottle and the old rag to light it up.
Steve looked at Robin first, following her eyesight until she saw you, trying to not look suspicious as the rag poked out of the pocket of your brown leather jacket.
You knew you were being caught as soon as you heard the sudden silence.
“Woah, woah, hey…Where do you think you’re going?” Steve pointed out, one hand on his waist as the other one gesticulated widely. Confusion and worry evident in the way he spoke, his voice coming up and down like a rollercoaster.
“What do you think?” The frustration was clear in the way you not only looked back at him, but in the way your words sting. “You’re wasting time…” You were now defeated, your hands now buried deep into your jacket pockets, fingers playing around with what you had in them, a way of distracting yourself.
“We’re not.” Dustin tried to make a point, though his furrowed brows read as sadness. “We need a plan, so we’re just trying to come up with one…”
“What plan? We go in, Nancy guards the door, we get him, we come back.” Your shoulders scrunch up as you simplified it all, their eyes switched from you to Nancy, who was still sat down at the sofa, a bit tenser than when you were beside her.
“Nance, you’re not coming?” Steve inquired, his whole body turning to face her from a distance.
“I… I can’t…” Her eyes crystalised as shock emanated from her body.
“She doesn’t have to, I’ll be with her, we’ll keep watch. Right?” Jonathan jumped in, reassuring Nancy, as Steve took a step back. “You’re not leaving my sight.” He whispered in her ear once he got by her side, their foreheads touching.
You smiled to yourself, a sweet moment between them. The world stopped for them, you could tell, and that’s exactly what you were craving right now, and worrying you might never get back.
“Fine, but we still don’t know how to get in.” Steve added, his arms flexing in front of his chest as he shook his head in defeat.
“Watergate.” You mutter.
“You’re insane.” Robin snapped as soon as she heard you, pausing in between words. “Even if we did manage to get down there and it was still open, how do you plan on coming back with him? What if there’s more rabies infected bats around? What if you get stuck there this time? We need to find another gate!” She was now talking in full speed, cascading words as her thoughts entered her mind.
“So we go to the woods!” You whine, frustration and impatience invade you once more.
“The woods?” Steve asked.
“She’s right.” Dustin added, his eyes finally leaving the ground shining as they did so. “Vecna killed Patrick and that created Watergate, so maybe there’s a gate near Fred’s death, like the one in the trailer…”
“What?” You questioned him as you saw him losing the train of thought. “We go to the woods and we get in and out, what’s wrong?”
“We killed Vecna, so the upside down should be collapsing since he isn’t alive and isn’t there to power it so…” He continued as he thought out loud.
“So what?” Steve asked as his voice went higher in tone.
“So it’s crumbling down.” Dustin pointed out as if it was overly obvious.
“So we have to go, now.” You said at the same time, heading to the door, no time to waste.
You heard their footsteps following you as you found your way to your car, you were finally getting somewhere.
-
You thought you would feel relieved once you saw you were right, what you weren’t expecting was your jaw to clench at the sight of the hidden gate.
It wasn’t big, it was small and weak.
The same thing that happened back in the graveyard started again. The wind picked up, hollowing through the trees replacing the chirping of the birds.
“Take care.” Nancy said with a trembling voice, while her hand was holding tightly with Jonathan’s.
Steve’s grip on his bat changed, firm and steady now, before twisting it a bit, readjusting it so he’d be more comfortable. Dustin’s hands fidgeted with the end of his jacket, patting his pockets checking once again that he wasn’t missing anything.
“If we’re not here in an hour, check in with El, she’s with the others guarding Max, but she should be able to…” Dustin recalled for the hundredth time, going over the plan he had been yelling about in the car drive over here.
“Yeah, one hour. Got it.” Jonathan nodded as he spoke, waving bye as you stepped in.
You just pressed your lips as you heard him.
If you only had an hour, you had to make it count. And it had to start now.
You had never just walked into the upside down. You had always fallen into it, so you didn’t have time to actually feel the veil breaking as your skin found its way in, the viscosity of the red hue, and the dryness that could be felt immediately after that. Your eyes slowly adjusted to the lack of colour and light, as you became hypervigilant, looking up at the sky before the others found their way.
Nothing.
There was absolutely nothing there.
A cloudless sunless grey sky welcomed you, with no thunder or lightning.
If anything, that nothingness was just more unnerving.
Every step they made echoed through, and made you look around, hoping to find something that would make you keep your hopes up.
You agreed on walking to the graveyard, if there was nothing there, you’d find your way to the trailer park and go back.
“Something’s weird.” Steve pointed out, as he looked around.
“Not weird, decaying.” You added, nodding to a grey crumbled up vine. The hole in it seemed to get deeper and bigger by the second.
“Quiet.” Robin said, as she looked up. “There’s no bats, no thunder either.”
“You can still trip though.” You told her as you held her from stepping into a fallen tree branch.
You walked, you weren’t really sure for how long, yet she was right, it was oddly beautiful now. A stuck in time version of Hawkins where nothing seemed to change, where everything looked as if it was straight out of an antique photograph you had found hidden in a cupboard.
You could see the iron gate from the cemetery, the bars on it starting to fold down, as if they were wilting flowers of an old bouquet. You felt as you collectively held in your breath.
It wasn’t long after that that you started hearing someone yelling unintelligible things.
While you were slowly making your way in, Eddie lied there.
He was right where you thought he’d be -unaware that you were near him- an empty space between gravestones, his body falling into the floor, exhausted from getting there, starving and malnourished. He had been talking nonsense for a while, he started whispering it into the heavens, until now, his voice was loud, and even if he didn’t intend to, panic found its way in it.
“Just one more song? Please? I need to know you’re there. I’ll sing along again if you want!” He had been looking at the void in the sky for a long time, he wasn’t sure if it had been an hour or two, to be honest, it felt like he had been there for days. “C’mon baby, please? Just a bit more, a guitar solo, or just… your voice would be nice…” He started begging now, pleading with some force he didn’t quite believe in for something that would indicate you’re there, near. “For fuck sake! I know I’ll die here, at least you could play some music while I do so!” Themix of desperation and tiredness was now getting into him, he looked at his hands and realised how his rings looked bigger, then now danced and moved with more ease. “Or just… Maybe if you light one up?”
At the same time, you started hearing his screams, and you started picking up the pace, running through the maze of granite carved stones, with different names and dates.
Dustin was the first to start screaming his name, while you just focused on running near where the voice came from.
You’d know it was him even if you hadn’t heard him in thirty years.
Adrenaline came over your body, so you rushed until your legs stopped, all of a sudden once you saw him.
He was there, his hand on his stomach, where blackened stains in his shirt layed wrinkled.
He was there, his hair laid perfectly still in a careful knotted mess.
He was there, his chest raised up and down as he breathed.
He was there, and he was alive.
“Moon…?” The nickname you had for him fell from your lips, your tone shaking as you still couldn’t believe it.
He slowly stood up, a grin of discomfort from pain evident in his face. He looked at you, his eyes barely opening up. He was still sitting on the ground, you felt your lips curving upwards as relief invaded you, seeing him smiling at you in recognition.
“Eddie?!” Dustin screamed as he ran up to him, falling to his knees as he hugged him, his head hitting his chest, Eddie’s arms slowly wrapped around his body. “I thought I… We lost you…”  His voice was muffled, still you could tell he had started crying.
“I thought I lost you too.” Eddie’s voice trembled as he looked directly at you. His eyes crystalised once he saw the first tear jump from your eyes.
You felt Robin’s hand on your shoulder, a thigh squeeze letting you know it was real. He was okay, and you were getting him back.
She nodded, letting you know it was okay if you wanted to interrupt.
You walked slowly to him, the back of your hand wiping away your tears. You let your body hit the floor, you couldn’t keep your eyes off of him.
“Hi” You whispered as soon as you were a breath away from him.
“Hi” He gleamed back as soon as he got you close.
“You’re okay?” You asked, as your voice quivered, desperate to hear him again, talking directly to you.
“Yeah, I’m okay.” He nodded as a trembling hand found the back of your neck.
Dustin smiled before stepping back, leaving you both alone for a moment, a much needed moment.
You gave in, melting into his arms. You were both crying quietly now, his hands stroking your hair politely, afraid that you were nothing but a mirage, while yours held on thigh to him, scared that you would cause him pain from needing that close.
“You scared me to death.” You half joked as you chuckled through the crying.
“I’m the one dying.” He added on to the joke, his lips finally kissing your temple, drinking your perfume in as he did so.
“Shut it.” You shake your head as you slowly pull back, your hand now cupping his cheek, as your thumb slowly graces the high points of his cheekbone. “I’m getting you home.”
You thought about kissing him, your lips touching his, melting completely under his touch. But once he leaned in to do so you saw how blood stained his shirt again, your eyes darted from his as you looked down, the red growing wider by the second.
Fear invaded your body again, a sense of urgency creeping over both of you.
“Yeah, we should really go” He grunted through gritted teeth.
-
It had been a blur.
Nancy grabbed your car keys from your hand, as you helped Eddie inside the car, sitting on the back with him. Cradling him as you talked to him, trying to keep him calm even if you were panicking deep inside.
Steve arrived at his house before you, opening the door wide open, Robin helping you bring Eddie in.
They were downstairs now, phoning Hopper, and El and finally Wayne.
Steve’s bedroom guest had a big window where sun creeped in, a soft breeze helping him cool off as cold sweat dripped from his forehead. You helped him lay on the soft mattress sitting next to him carefully.
You had enough supplies hidden under the bed, you knew you could stitch him up enough so he would stop hurting, you had enough experience patching people up.
“Can you take your shirt off?” You asked him with a slight raise of your eyebrows.
“You already want me naked?” He joked. He tended to do that when he got nervous. You tilted your head as you bent over so you could take the little box full of supplies out of underneath the bed. He chuckled once he saw the box in your hands. He started trying to take his jacket off, with a grunt in his face he shook his head. “I might need help.” He admitted, a grunt on the back of his throat.
“Thought so.” You muttered under your breath.
You scootched over to him, your trembling hands becoming steadier as they found the neck of his jacket, pulling it down slowly. At first, Eddie moved, tried to help. Once he felt your hands against his arms however, he stood still, his eyes not letting go of you, and the way your hands moved with such carefulness and tenderness.
The tips of your fingers were now in between his skin and his shirt, soaked in dirt and blood.
You looked at him before pulling it up, he nodded, his eyelids halved opened, a cautious smile in his lips. He sucked to his teeth as his skin separated from the stiff cloth, your fingers brushed his abdomen with care, avoiding to trace his skin as soon as you saw the grin of discomfort he had on his lips. His arms ached once they were up in the air, the shirt falling off of them slowly.
“It looks worse than I thought.” Eddie grunted as he finally looked down. You guided his torso against the cushions that were prepped up, his hand lingered to your arms, the tip of his fingers burrowing into your skin.
“I’ll clean it up, I’m sure it’s not that bad.” You tried to play it off, a kind smile curved your lips upwards, a little gesture he imitated.
“You must really like me” He started in a soft whisper. “You keep lying trying to make it all better.”
You laughed it off, a short chuckle coming out of him. You started soaking the cotton swab with alcohol, the odor of it filling the small gap between the both of you.
“You know I do.” He smiled in a soft manner, his teeth showing as he tilted his head. “Ready?”
“Yeah.”
You smiled kindly before starting to clean his wounds. They were as if someone ripped and crumpled a paper sheet. They weren’t deep, just repetitive bite and claw marks over the same spot. The big one was on his lower abdomen, another one near his collarbone, a gash on his neck. His arms were full of scratches and deep cuts you had to keep clean.
He didn’t complain. He just let you do whatever you thought you had to, deep down he knew that if he let you take care of him, you’d feel better. And if he was being honest with himself, he enjoyed you dotting and caring for him, you knew it was because he won’t trust anyone else but you.
“You know you could just wait for Hopper to come right? He’ll probably make me go to a hospital or something.” He whispered in an attempt to get you to look back at him, his eyes not leaving yours.
“I know, I just…”
“I’m okay.” He started, reassuring you, trying to get you to stop overcleaning the same spot on his chest. “Hey.” You kept overdoing it, a blank look on your face. “Darling, please…” He begged now, the way his lips said the nickname snapping you out of it.
“I thought you were dead.” You crumbled down, nervous tears threatening to jump out, your lips quivering as you started to talk. “I thought you were gone, Moon…”
“I’m not.” He reached out, his hand finally holding yours. “You really think it’s going to be that easy? You’re not getting rid of me.”
“I buried you… Well there was nothing in there but… I just.”
“I know, I heard you and Wayne talking.” He confessed, his eyes changing, now they were full of melancholy, and a hint of guilt. “I’m sorry by the way…”
“What the fuck are you on?” The words fell right out of your lips, tilting your head as your tone went higher.
“I just… I heard you crying. Begging and all that. I’m sorry I almost died and I’m sorry I didn’t tell you everything I wanted to, I’m sorry I didn’t tell you I loved you before, I’m sorry I left I-” You interrupted him, as soon as you heard the big word. Your hand tightening around his.
“You do?”
“I do what?” He tried to brush it off, the confession had fallen out of his mouth without him thinking too much about it.
“Love me?” You were embarrassed by how hopeful you sound. His free hand travelled to your cheek, slowly stroking it as he looked deeply into your eyes, falling deeply into them.
You gave in, your head now resting in the palm of his hand, he slowly pulled you closer to him. Finally closing the distance between the both of you, slowly, then all at once. His lips met yours, a smile appearing on both of them. It was a careful kiss, a needy and soft kiss. It said more things than you both could ever tell eachother. His lips begged for yours to never leave him again, to let him stay by your side. Yours were yelling for him to be patient, and let you love him in a quiet and slow manner.
You pulled away slowly, your forehead touching his.
You both knew each other understood. Still, he whispered low enough for you to barely hear him, right before you were interrupted by the door opening. “Of course I do.”
“Happy you’re back kid.” Hopper’s voice interrupted the both of you, moving your heads so you could look at him. “I’m sorry but you’ll have to answer a couple of questions, then go to the hospital”
“Stay?” Eddie asked, a promise in his voice.
“Yes. For as long as you let me.”
He kissed the tip of your nose, before talking again.
“Forever then.”

I have a request 🥺
Eddie is best friends with the reader and another girl. The other girl knows about the reader's huge crush on Eddie. One night, Eddie gets drunk, and the reader is taking care of him. You're laying him down on his bed, and he starts drunk mumbling, saying "oh by the way, the other night i had sex with (girls name) on this bed." And he keeps going on with the details. And the reader is just heartbroken.
You could decide if you want a happy ending .

You threw the doors open to Family Video almost ripping it off it’s hinges while putting on your vest and running your fingers through your hair. Steve’s head popped from underneath the counter watching you stomp around until you stood next to him. His eyebrow rose in question on what has gotten you so angry all of sudden. He was too afraid to ask why you chose to almost rip the door like it was on it’s last breath.
You threw your hands up in frustration and annoyance, “ I don’t understand what that girl has that Eddie can’t seem to shut his mouth about.”
You were expecting an answer from Steve who’s yet to stand up from his position and instead be crowded himself in the corner while he stared up at you.
“ Earth to Harrington? Did you hear what I said?” You waved a hand in front of his face thinking he’s too lost in his thought or simply wasn’t listening to you. Steve blinked a couple of times before he stood up and leaned against the other side.
“ I did hear you and I don’t know what you want me to tell you. Tell me again who this is about?” Steve questioned like he had no idea who you were talking about when he kew exactly who it was. It was the girl that Eddie has been hanging out with a lot. It was getting on your nerves and all you seem to hear about how interesting she is or something new each day.
“ You know exactly who, Harrington. Stop jerking around” you mumbled, rolling your eyes. He put his hands up.
“ You know, why don’t you.. I don’t know, stop hanging out with Eddie… you’ve only been hurting yourself. Are you ever going to tell him how you feel?”
Your eyes got wide and you slapped a hand over his mouth like someone else was in the store and has heard you. You looked around to see if Steve had any earlier customers but the place was deserted and it was only the two of you.
He mumbled something into your hand which you didn’t understand. Steve licked your hand and you brought it away from his mouth to wipe it on the polo shirt he’s wearing. He glances down with a deep frown.
“ Thank you for that” he sarcastically says. “ There is no harm on telling him how you feel. What’s the worst that could happen?”
“ Um.. Harrington, you do know he’s my best friend and I might lose him. No, thank you. Where is your head today?”
“ I’m aware about your best friend being Eddie Munson of all people and my head is where it should be.”
“ I don’t know how sometimes I’m friends with you” Steve shook his head as he pouted. The door opened and the both of you turned to greet them when you saw it was only Max and Dustin walking in with Mike and El trialing behind them.
“ Oh it’s just you” Steve mumbled. Dustin stops as he puts his hand on his heart.
“ That was very hurtful Steve” he says. “ I have feelings you know” He adds.
Max rolled her eyes at the two as she smiled over to you. Her smile drops when you don’t return her smile and it looks like something was bothering you.
“ What’s with the face?” She asks, motioning with her hand on her face.
“ She’s pissed off about the girl that Eddie keeps talking about and hanging around with”
“ Oh she’s cool” Dustin says like he didn’t just hear that you were pissed off. If looks could kill, Dustin would be underground by now from the look on your face.
“ She is mad” El says as she looks over to you. “ Why?”
“ Because boys are stupid” Max answers.
“ Don’t worry about it El, Y/N is very sour that she’s not the girl that Eddie wants to hang out with.”
You took the films he stacked on the counter and knocked them on the ground as you stared at him.
“ Clean it up”
“ My tapes!” He shouted throwing his hands up in the air. “ That was uncalled for” he points a finger at you and walks around the counter to pick up the tapes you had dropped on the ground.
“ You know you should tell Eddie how you feel” El suggest. “ It might make you feel better” she adds. You throw her a shrug and shake your head.
“ I don’t want to lose him” she gives you a sympathetic look. “ Hey are you going to Tina’s party that’s happening on Saturday?” Steve asked forgetting he’s been inviting and dreaded going alone.
“ Why?” You ask.
“ Because I don’t want to go alone.”
“ Why don’t you ask Robin?”
He gives you the look like why didn’t I think of that but he already did.
“ She has a date with Vicky” he says. “ She’s finally got the courage to set something up to surprise her.”
“ At least someone has their balls” Mike mutters. Next thing he knew he was falling to the ground with Max towering over him, she glared at him.
“ Say that again and it will be your fingers I’ll snap”
You were thankful Max was on your side at least for this. But you spoke to soon when she turns her head saying you should tell Eddie how you feel otherwise you might miss a chance.
“ Just think on going with me, will you?” Steve asks. “ I really don’t want to go alone” he says.
Your lips draw in a thin line and he’s well aware that parties aren’t really your thing to go to. You weren’t really a people’s person either. Not the people you went to high school with and not the people you saw at parties.
“ They are stupid” you muttered. “ I’m sure you’ll find some girl there to charm and then you’ll leave me, all alone” Steve shakes his head.
“ Eddie will be there” he says. He was probably going to be there to sell to make some money. He wasn’t very much of a partier either.
“ Are you picking him up too, or is he meeting you there?”
“ He’s going to drive over there. There is no way he’s coming inside of my car” Steve says.
“ Will you pick me up, then?” Steve’s eyes got wide at your question and a smile appears on his face when he takes notices that your agreeing to go to the party with him. He slide over the counter but it was more like rolling to the ground.
The rest chuckle at this.
He quickly got up, fixing the vest and looks around.
“ No one saw anything” he says. Max smirked.
“ We saw everything” she says while Steve walks over to you and picks you up, twirling you around. Your feet hit the films on the shelf which he doesn’t take notice after the second twirl.
“ Awe man, come on! I just put those up this morning” he puts you down and groans.
“ Your own fault, Harrington” you muttered fixing your shirt. You hadn’t noticed the others have left during this leaving you alone with Steve.
“ Where did they go?” You looked around trying to see if they were playing hide and seek or something which was weird. Steve shrugs and looks over his shoulder.
“ It’s been awhile since you’ve been to party. Do you know what your going to wear?”
“ Don’t worry about what I’m going to wear, Harrington. I think you should be more worried about if you’ll go home with a girl” he glare over to you when he shoots back a you.
“ Oh? What about you and Eddie?”
Your eyes squint at him not knowing where he was doing with this.
“ What about it?” You asked.
“ You’re not going to tell him?” You shook your head.
“ Are you joking, Harrington? I’m sure there will other girls that would be more happy to go home with him than me. I mean, I’m not really pretty” you motion to yourself and Steve shoots you a look.
“ What? I am”
He shakes his head.
“ You’re pretty. Eddie is just blind to see it”
“ Is that suppose to make me feel better?”
“ Look I’m trying here!” He shouts throwing his hands up. “ You’re my friend and I would hate to see you get hurt by him. He’s dumb.”
The door opened and Keith walked through the door staring down the two of you.
“ We were stacking these” Steve says motioning to the shelf. Keith says something and walks to the back while you look at Steve.
“ Oh shut it, go put these in another section” he hands you a box of fills that were by his feet. The rest of the week went by quicker than you thought and it was Saturday. The party was happening tonight and you were dreading on going. Not because you were going to be around people you didn’t like.
But you were kinda scared seeing Eddie with another girl.
You were looking into your closet what you would wear to the party, throwing clothes left and right and creating a pile all over your room. Your anxiety was making fun of you because you started to question what if you chose the wrong outfit or what if you chose something that shown too much skin.
Your mind was racing with too many thoughts. You didn’t even know your bedroom door opened and Steve walked in. His eyes fallen on the sight of your room.
“ It looked like a tornado hit here” you jumped at the sound of his voice, throwing a shirt into his direction that was on the hanger. He catches in his hands and raises his eyebrows on what just happened.
“ You scared me, warn a girl” he pointed behind him to the door.
“ I have knocked and told you it’s me walking in” he says.
“ Be louder next time, Harrington” he sets the shirt he had in his hands on the chair while making his way to the chair in your room that didn’t have clothes on and sits down.
“ Let me guess, you want to look pretty to catch Eddie’s eye?” You cast him a look going back into the closest looking at the colors you had and the dresses. You were thinking on a skirt but you felt self conscious of your legs.
“ Should I wear a dress?” In your hands you held up two dresses and turn to Steve who had his arms across his chest as he looked between the two of you.
“ You wear what your comfortable in” you groan, throwing your head back.
“ You’re not helping, Harrington. Pick one” he hummed putting a finger to his chin while he thought on it. You sighed seeing the was taking his precious time in deciding.
“ You know what, your not any help at all. Maybe I shouldn’t go to the party” Steve stood u from the chair and walked around your room were he looked at your clothes and picked up a shirt for you to wear and a skirt that looked cute too to go with the shirt.
He hands you the outfit and turns you around pushing you into the bathroom.
“ Go get change, you are dramatic as Eddie. No wonder you like him so much” he mutters underneath his breathe.
“ I heard that!” You shouted from the closed bathroom. “ You were meant too, now hurry up” he says through the door. You mutter underneath your breath how he was being annoying as you changed into the outfit he has chosen for you and surprisingly it looked really cute.
Your heart raced at the thought of Eddie looking over at you and noticing you. It’s not like he didn’t notice you but you wanted him to come up to you and tell you how pretty you look.
He has never told you.
You opened the door and stepped out.
“ Well?” You did a twirl. Steve’s mouth hung open as he stared at the sight of you. You were really pretty like he always told you. “ Munson is missing out” Steve says and stood up from the chair he was sitting again in making his way to the door. In his hands he had his keys.
“ Ready?” You nodded, slipping on your shoes and following him out there door to his car. The party had many people you knew and didn’t know. Your eyes scanned the familiar faces. Those familiar faces turned to look at you, eyeing your chosen outfit and giving you a whistle.
Steve’s hand was on your shoulder leading you through the crowd.
“ I need a drink” you shouted to him through the loud music and scrunched your nose at the many popped around. This wasn’t really your scene.
You spotted the back of mane of curls and the Dio vest. Steve nudged your side as he motioned his head towards where Eddie stood. It looks like he was making a sale as he talked to the other girl. The two exchanged something while your eyes watched Eddie’s hair bounces as he looked around after making the sale.
Those brown doe eyes happen to fall on you and a smile spreads on his face. His eyes move to the person next to you, Steve and his smile drops. There is a hint of change in his eye as his jaw clenches.
“ Look there is your best friend” Steve mutters to you. To Eddie, it looked very different. He thought you came with Steve to the party and the two of you were flirting. He gripped his lunch box in his hands, tightly and vanished through the crowd. He wasn’t going to stand there and watch you flirt with Harrington.
He never really thought someone like him would be a match for you. He thought Steve Harrington would be more your style since Steve could spoil you more than he could. Eddie was your best friend.
You frown losing Eddie in the crowd thinking he went to do another sale.
“ Do you think he’s avoiding me?” You asked Steve who was too busy looking around the crowd in hoping to catch girls eye. He didn’t hear you which caused you to frown. You left him standing there making your way into the kitchen looking at the various drinks laid out and a stack of red cups for you to take.
Your hand reaches for a cup when another hand beats you to it. Your heart races seeing the ring clad hand and your eyes raise to meet the face of your best friend once again. He doesn’t have a smile on his face or any kind of look for that matter.
“ Sorry” you mouth to him through the loud music. He makes his way around the counter where he stands next to you. His arm brushing against yours and you swore you felt electricity from that brief touch.
“ I’ll make you a drink” he shouts through the loudness of the music, which isn’t his taste but he’s more here to make some money. He was surprised to see you here though. He knows your not a party person.
“ Surprised your here” he says starting a conversation as he makes your drink. His hair shield his face where you don’t see the look on his face and you badly wanted to reach out to move the hair away from his face.
“ I wanted to give it a try” your voice speak out for the first time seeing him after a week. He nods and hands you the drink he’s made for you.
“ You’ll like it, I promise you” he says. Your hand brushes his own causing you to gasp. You grabbed onto the cup and quickly draw it to your chest like his touch has burned you.
“ Thank you” he nods and leans with his back at the counter with his hands on either side.
“ So, Harrington? Huh?” He looks around the party, a deep frown on his face as he stands there still talking to you but avoiding eye contact.
“ Harrington, what?” You were confused on what Eddie was on about.
“ You like him or something?” Eddie didn’t want to look at you. He was too afraid to look to find out if you liked Steve. If you did, then it would break him and he didn’t know how to handle it.
“ Steve Harrington?” Your eyebrows knit together with a small chuckle leaving you. Eddie turns his head at the sound with his eyebrow knitted together in confusion on why you were laughing.
“ I don’t like Steve, he’s my friend” Eddie tilts his head to the side but nods. He’s not really convinced you don’t like Steve. Every girl seem to like a guy like Steve Harrington.
Your eyes don’t miss the girl that walks by who waves her hand over to Eddie as she calls to him. His head snaps over hearing his name being called, a smile appears on his face as he waves back at her.
“ Who’s that?” You asked, never really seeing the girl before. She looked to be new.
Eddie turns his head seeing the look on your face. He blinked twice to see if the look he saw was real. Jealousy. That’s what he saw. He blinked again and the look on your face was gone.
“ She’s my friend” he shrugged. “ Met her at the Hide Out. She came to watch us play” He adds. Your heart sinks knowing now you weren’t the only girl to watch his band play. Something in the air between you and Eddie felt different and you hated it.
“ Do you like her?” The question came from you suddenly catching Eddie off guard. His eyes scanned your face before he answered.
“ No” he shook his head. “ I like someone else” He adds. His eyes your reaction as he says it but to only to have you look away. Your eyes fall down to the drink in your hand finding the color of the drink more interesting than his face.
“ That’s cool” you nod feeling your heart sink to your stomach. “ I’m going to go dance” you add wanting to get away from his area, from him, you wanted to cry. But you took another drink from your drink slipping through the crowd leaving Eddie on his own.
His lips form a deep frown watching you walk away. What was that all about? He shrugged it off hearing his name being called.
Meanwhile, you were looking around the dancing face, scrunching seeing the sloppy making out sessions some of them were having while others were groping each other. You leaned your back against the wall when a voice catches your attention.
“ Well, Well, Well, if it isn’t the nerd” Jason’s voice calls to you as he stands next to you.
“ Go away, Carver” you rolled your eyes at the sight of him. “ You look lost” you add. He laughs.
“ So the nerd does talk” he looks you up and down as he sways. “ How about I teach you a few things?” He licks his lips as his arms falls to the wall next to you as he peers down at you. Your nose scrunches up smelling the alcohol on him.
“ Where is Chrissy?” You asked. “ Your little cheerleader broke your heart or something?” Justin frowned at the mention of her. His silence was giving you an answer.
“ You piss her off or something? “ He sighs as he leans next to you on the wall.
“ We had a big disagreement and told me to go cool off” he mumbles.
“ Poor you” Steve makes his way over to you seeing Jason talking to you.
“ Is he bothering you?” He asked, standing in the space between you and Jason as he glares over at him. Jason chuckles at the sight of Steve, and looks behind him at you.
“ Is this your dog?” He asks. Steve notices that Jason is drunk and grabs onto your wrist, puling you into the kitchen where he turns to ask if you were okay.
“ He didn’t hurt you or anything?” You shook your head. The red cup in your hands you left near the table where Jason stood. You didn’t want to drink anymore. You were feeling out of place at the party.
“ Can you take me home?” You asked. Steve was about to answer when the girl from earlier that you saw waved at Eddie walks over to you. She looks worried from the looks of it.
“ Are you, uh… Y/N?” She asks, looking you over. Eddie had given her a description on what you look like and the outfit you were wearing and from the look of it. She had found you.
“ Yes, did you need something?”
She nods, pointing behind her.
“ Eddie is in the bathroom asking for you. I believe he had more than a few to drink and I think it’s best if he goes home. I’ve tried and he’s only pushed me away.”
You look at Steve as he says he’s going to go start the car. He didn’t drink.
“ Thanks, I’ll take it from here” she nods averting her eyes for a moment feeling like she wanted to say something else but says nothing as you slip past her making your way to the stairs. There was a couple of the stairs making out.
“ Excuse me?” You shouted trying to move past them but they didn’t hear you. Your hand reached out to tug on the guys jacket who pulled away shooting you a glare.
“ Move!” You shouted into his face. He moves mumbling “ bitch” underneath his breath and takes the girls hand as the two walk downstairs into the living room while you head upstairs to find Eddie. You knock on the first three doors but they only have been bedrooms before you found the right door. Eddie was leaning against the bath tub with his head back while e had a bottle besides him that he’s been drinking from.
“ Eds?” The sound of your voice and the closed door catches him off guard. His head moves and his eyes land on you where his eyebrows knit together.
“ Is that you Y/N?” He slurs, moving to sit up but he groans and lifts up he bottle to take another drink from it when your hand stops him. “ I think you had enough for tonight. How about we get you home?”
“ I don’t want to go home” he says slurring looking up at you with a dopy smile on his face. “ You’re so pretty” he adds. “ such a pretty flower.”
Your cheeks flush from the comment and leans down to move the hair away from his face. “ Come on, drunky. Let’s get you home and into bed.”
“ Bed” he hums, “ sounds nice.”
“ Can you stand up, Eds?” He groans something and uses the bath tub with one hand to stand up. He’s wobbly on his feet and almost falls on top of you. “ Woah there, sleep will do you some good.”
You mange to help him out of the bathroom where he stumbles into some people when he gets outside.
“ Sorry!” You shout helping him down the steps.
“ They look funny” he slurs, chuckling as he points. “ They have circles. Are you a circle too?” He asks. You were holding in your own laughter, taking one step at a time. The door to the house opened and Steve steps in looking around for you.
“ Harrington!” Eddie shouts. Steve looks up watching as you were trying to help Eddie down the stairs. “ Oh Jesus” Steve mutters making his way up the stairs and helping you with Eddie down the steps.
“ Did you know Y/N is a circle? Does that make you a square, Harrington? What am I, then? A triangle? I am defiantly a triangle. I mean look at me, it screams triangle” Eddie kept muttering to himself while you and Steve were carrying him down the steps to the car.
“ Do you think I could be a star one day? They are so pretty and bright and they are free” Eddie continues. Steve opens the back door of his car while you push Eddie inside.
“ Hey, if you wanted me to be rough, sweetheart. You should of told me” Eddie says as he leans up on the seat putting his head behind your seat. You got into the passenger side looking at Eddie.
“ What kind of sandwich do you think I could be? What color do you think I could be? I would be black because that’s metal. You know? Peanut butter sandwiches are nice, I could give to flavor too. You know?”
Steve looks at you while he drive while Eddie continues to question what he would be like as an animal, a treat, a plant etc. It went on like that until Steve drove to the trailer. You never seen his side of Eddie before.
You didn’t know weather to laugh or comment on his questions. You sat in silence hearing what he talked about. He did have a lot to drink but why?
Once you reached the trailer, you turned to Steve thanking him while Eddie looked between the two of you.
“ Are you not going to kiss him, goodnight? What kind of person are you? Don’t be a meanie” Eddie says. You look at Eddie with a look and looked at Steve who looks amused.
“ I have one better” you tell Eddie. Eddie watches with wonder eyes and laughs when you flick Steve in the forehead. Eddie leans back into the backseat clutching his stomach while he laughs.
“ Alright time to go home, drunky” you slip out of Steve’s car as he helps you get Eddie into his bed. “ Will you be okay?” Steve asks, looking down at Eddie who’s laying on his bed with his hands over his head staring at the two of you.
“ Yeah, I’ll be fine” you muttered. “ Thank you, you know for the ride and this” he nods telling you to call him if anything. Steve leaves, leaving you with Eddie who’s happily wiggling his eyebrows at you like something is about to happen.
“ Oh, Eddie. What am I going to do with you?”
His eyebrows knit together in the question.
“ Love me” he says with his hands out making grabby motions with his hands. He was still dressed in his clothes.
“ Why don’t we get you out of your clothes and into something more comfortable? How does that sound?” He nods happily listening to you and sits up with a groan.
He watches as you take out some pajamas out of his top dressers while he leans down to take off his shoes and nudges them off with his feet. He lays back down on the bed working on his handcuff belt but doesn’t seem to get it off as he can’t.
“ Help” he says his hips are thrust up as he struggles to get his pants off. You turn around seeing the trouble look on his face and the little pout he has. When he sees you have not came over to help, he kicks his feet on the bed and whines.
“ Help” he says, trying again. “ Please” he adds. He was adorable even when he was drunk. You make your way over to him and help him take down his pants, cheeks were lighting up red having to undress him. Your eyes peek at his tummy trail that looks delicious to leave kisses on. But you bite your lips watching him slip his shirt off and turn around after handing him his pajamas. Your face was bright red and when he giggled telling you to turn around seeing him in bed with his brown doe eyes staring up at you.
“ Stay” he says patting the space next to him. You couldn’t help but look at how cute he looks right now. You couldn’t not stay with him, you were going to anyways until he was sober up.
“ Let me get you some water and ibuprofen and I’ll be back” Eddie huffs putting his arms across his chest having to wait for you but doesn’t say anything. You make your way into the kitchen searching around.
“ Y/N! Y/N! Y/N!” Eddie kept shouting your name from the bedroom being impatient meanwhile you told him you’d be back. Once you found what you were looking for, you walk back to find him curled up on his side with his hair over his cheeks, some strands in his eyes too.
“ Hi” He says happily once he sees that your back. “ I want to talk to you about something” he adds. You slip off your shoes and crawling into bed with him while he scooted back to give you some room.
“ What is it?” He giggled hiding his face into the pillow. His cheeks were red.
“ You know the girl that waved to me at the party?” You nod, not sure where he was going with this. “ We had sex on this very bed, last week!” He shouts, slapping his hand on the mattress with a giggle. Your smile drops from your face and your heart sinks to your stomach.
This wasn’t something you wanted to hear from him or talk about.
“ She would make all these noises and guess what, I’ve made her squirt! Squirt! I never done that to a girl, you know?” He says. He doesn’t look at your face. Your eyes were becoming glossy. He thought you were listening to to him.
“ She has even left her marks, look I think one of them is still there” he says looking down at his chest searching for it. It was very small when he finds it and points to it with his finger.
“ Look, it’s so small” he says looking at up you. “ Are you looking, Y/N?”
“I’m looking” you wren’t really looking. You were staring at his bat tattoo instead of the make. It was hurting too much that he’s talking about the girl he had sex with. Why now?
Does he know you like him?
“ She scratched me up pretty good too know and she made me cum more than twice! I think it was three… wait.. no four… was it four?” He asked, laying down on the bed. There  was a sudden change in color on his face and he shot up in bed, covering his mouth.
“ I think I’m going to be sick” he says racing to the bathroom where you found him hurling into the toilet. You took the rubber band off your wrist and wrapped his hair up in a pony tail while you rubbed his back.
There were tears rolling down your cheeks from listening in what he told you before he races to the bathroom. You had a lump in your throat that was very hard to swallow.
Eddie flushes the toiled and you helped him up as he stood by the sink, gripping it with his hands.
“ I’m never drinking again” he says taking his toothbrush and putting some toothpaste on it. You helped him steady it as he brushed his teeth. He has yet to notice the tears rolling down your cheeks and how heart broken you look. The silence finally hits him as he takes notice you haven’t had said a word. His eyes meet yours in the mirror.
“ You’re crying” he says. His eyebrow knit together. “ Did something happen?” You shook your head with a hand on his back. “ Let’s get you to bed. You need sleep.”
Eddie follows you to bed where you help him in. He watches your every movement and you start to head to the door when you shut off his lights.
“ Stay” he says. The sound of his voice has your heart breaking even more. But you can’t handle being around him right now. No matter how much you care about him and how much you love him.
“ I’ll be on the couch” Eddie doesn’t say anything anymore but he looks as you close his door and hear the sound of your footsteps making their way to the living room. He hears the small plump of you sitting down on the couch. He rolls over on his back as sleep takes over him.
The next morning when he wakes up. He has a pounding heading and reaches over on his beside table for the ibuprofen and the water bottle that you had left there for it. He yawns as he stretches and stands up from his bed making his way into the living room. His eyes don’t catch you sleeping on the couch in the morning, it’s only the sight of Wayne that he sees there.
He looks around his kitchen seeing no note or nothing from you. His brain races knowing last night you were there helping him. There are bits and pieces that he’s remembering but no all of it. He turns around heading to the bathroom for a shower. He’s going to call you later.
When Eddie calls you later, the phone rings and rings and your not picking up. You stare at in your bedroom as it does. You know it’s him but you don’t want listen to him. You heard enough yesterday. The person he likes, it’s not you. It’s her. You felt really stupid for falling for your best friend when you weren’t even a choice to him.
You thought things would be different with him.
You’ve been really quiet at school too, not really answering question and sitting away from Eddie. Not defending him against Jason. The Hellfire table felt empty without you. You spend your lunch period in the library catching on studying. At work you don’t speak to Robin or Steve either.
You aren’t yourself and everyone can see that.
The drama room opened and Robin stepped in with Steve trialing behind her.
“ Robin?” Dustin asked.
“ Alright, dingus” she looks at Eddie sitting on his throne looking at her confused on why she’s here. “ What did you do? Because if you haven’t noticed one of our best friends, the person you seem to fawn over has stopped communicating with all of us. I want to know what you’ve done and you better stop talking or I’ll throw your ass across this room..” She glared down at Eddie.
Eddie looks at her wide eyed.
“ We don’t know what he did either. None of us do”
“ She was last seen with you, we took you back to your trailer from the party. What did you do?” Steve asks this time. He leans his hands on the table as he glares at Eddie.
“ Talk now” Steve demands, slamming his hand on top of the table.
“ I don’t know what I did! She won’t talk to me either!” Eddie shouted standing up from his throne.
“ Think Eddie, what did you say to her last?” Jeff says.
Eddie stands there looking around his friends as they all look at him for answers which he doesn’t know. His brain races at the last time he saw you. You were crying at something. He remembers telling you about the girl he slept with too.
“ I told her about the girl I slept with…” he says. Robin’s eyes are wide and Steves too.
“ You’re an idiot, Munson” Steve says.
“ What do you mean?” Eddie asks, his eyebrows knitted together as his chest feels like someone is clenching it.
“ she’s in love with you, dammit! How stupid can you be!?!” Dustin shouted as he stood up from his seat. “ Are you that much of an idiot to notice she hasn’t dated anyone and spend all of her time with you?” Mike asks.
“ You’re all she talks about” Steve tells him. Eddie’s eyes grow wide and his mouth feels dry. He had to talk to you.
“I’ve got to go!” He shouts.
But, when he gets to your house, your mom answers the door.
“ Is Y/N home?” Your mom shakes her head.
“ She went to take some time off visiting her grandparents. She wasn’t doing so good, the school agreed she needed some time too. I’m sorry, Eddie” his heart sank knowing he was too late.
“ Would you tell her I’ve stopped by if you talk to her?” Your mom nods. “ Take care” your mom tells him as she closes the door. Eddie walks back to his van with his head hang knowing he has hurt you to cause you to go away.
You didn’t want to see him and he would wait for you to come back.

Eyes on Fire
You stop by a gas station to shower because you're late for school and with your grades, you can't just miss a period. Your hair is still wet when you get to Hawkins High, and it sticks to your bare arms. It's cold, but you don't care.
“(Y/N)!“ The voice makes you stop, and turn around. Maxine comes running, slowing down when she reaches you.
“Hi.”
“Are you alright?“ You nod, biting the inside of your cheek. “You... Didn't come home last night.“
Sighing, you move out of the way, standing near the wall. “Something happened. Jason was trying to beat up this guy and... I stopped, I kicked him in the balls, Hopper showed up... Then I just drove around.“
“Just drove around?“
Again, you nod. “Yeah. Stopped by the quarry, just that.“
Max sighs, pulling you into a hug. Part of you wants to push her away because it was supposed to be the other way around. When Maxine was put in your life, years ago, you weren't really happy about it, but she was younger, and your sister now, and you knew from that moment on that you were responsible for that.
So she shouldn't be the one comforting you. “I'm fine.“ You say, gently pulling away. “Did you skate here?“ She nods. “Then we'll go home together. Unless you have something with your friends?“
“No. We can go home. Watch a movie?“ She smiles, and it breaks your heart a little.
So you don't dare to say no. “Sounds good.“
Her smile grows brighter. “Great. I'll see you at lunch.“
After waving, you go your own way. Math. Something you hate, so time goes by slowly. When lunch comes, you take an apple and soda, because you don't feel like eating. When you sit at the empty table in the corner, Michael comes to talk to you. But he stands because he knows better than to sit with you.
“What?“
“Nothing.“ He shrugs. “Just wanted to know how things are with you today.“
Running a hand through your hair, you sigh. "I'm great. Just very excited for some alone time.“ Giving him a fake smile, you wave.
“Alright.“ He mutters, nods, and leaves.
This isn't new. Ever since you got to Hawkins, that's how things have been. The girls fell for Billy on spot, and many of the guys fell for you. The only difference was that Billy liked to hook up on a daily basis, but not you. You had three boyfriends, zero sexy times, and more dates than you can count. But nobody hit the right spot, so it was all for nothing. And now, you don't want any kind of relationship.
Everything you want is to be alone.
But that ends when a bunch of people come right to your table, set down their trays, and sit. Raising your eyebrows, you look at the guy leading the invasion. Eddie, the Freak.
“Can I ask what are you doing?“ The question is directed to those you know. Dustin, Mike, and Max, who you saw running to join them when they were coming.
“I saw a lonely, lost sheep... And decided to come for the rescue.“ Eddie says.
“What?“
“It's a metaphor.“ Dustin explains.
“Is it? Are you sure I'm not a sheep?“ You snap, taking a bite from your apple. “Leave. I'm busy.“
“Brooding in yesterday's clothes?“ Eddie speaks, and the others get... Tense? No, not tense. Just apprehensive. And you don't even know if it's because of you or because of Eddie.
“You want me to report to you everything I did after I dropped you off?“
“Only the bad things.“ He says with a smile.
And you've seen it before. The games men play. And Eddie is no different. Sighing, you take your soda can and get up, leaving the table.
There's a space outside, with a few tables, and you head there. Because of the dark grey clouds and the cold wind, they're all empty.
“Hey!“
“What?“ You ask, turning around to face Eddie. “Look, I don't like these stupid games. So whatever you're trying to do, go find someone else to play with and make your friends think you're cool.“
Eddie doesn't say anything. Nothing, for almost ten seconds. And it's weird. The way he looks at you makes you feel... Weird. There's warmth in his eyes, something you would never expect, not from a stranger. “Sorry.“ He finally speaks, and then takes his jacket off. “I wasn't trying to make fun of you. It came out the wrong way. Here.“ He holds this jacket for you. “You're shivering.“
When was the last time a guy gave you his jacket? A year ago. Matthew. As an excuse to put his arm around you and touch you. You pushed him off, went home, and he came to school with a bruise on his face the next day. Billy's doing.
So this is different.
“I'm fine.“
“You're shivering.“ He repeats, not even moving.
Taking a deep breath, you take the jacket, turn your back to him, and walk to the furthest table as you throw the jacket around your shoulders. “Why do I have the feeling you're still there?“
“Because I am.“As you sit on the table, feet on the wooden bench - because the school wanted a more rustic style for the outside - you bite your lip nervously. The last thing you need right now is one more person putting their nose in your business.
“Why?“ It comes out a bit too harshly, but that's how you wanted it to come out. Maybe it'll scare him away.
“Who did you hook up with yesterday?“
The question makes you gasp, looking away from him in an attempt to hide the blush that comes to your cheeks. “Nobody!“ Unlike Billy, you don't like talking so openly about these things. Certainly not with some random guy who decided to make your day a living hell. “I didn't-I didn't hook up or met with anyone. Why do you even care?“
When you stare at Eddie again, he doesn't have that smirk on. He seems serious even, and that also takes you by surprise. “Then don't lie to me.“
“What? I don't...“ You're confused now, and you hate being confused. “What do you want, Munson? I said it once, and I won't say it again. Drop the games.“
“No games. If you were with a guy doing whatever, that would be fine. But I knew you weren't.“ He gestures at you, at your face. “You didn't get any sleep. And your friends are worried.“
“What do you have to do with them?“ Getting up, you walk over to him, until you're face to face with him. As usual, you have to raise your head to keep eye contact. You got Billy's hair and eye color, those are exactly the same... But you didn't get the height.
“I've heard them. Wasn't trying to, but Dustin doesn't really know how to whisper.“ Well, that's true. “They're worried sick. And they don't know what to do.“
“They don't have to do anything because I'm fine.“ You hiss, stepping closer. “I'm mourning, so leave me the hell alone with my pain.” With that, you walk away, making sure to bump your shoulder on his.
The rest of the day has you even angrier than before. You get that your friends, the entire bunch of them, are worried. They can be worried. But Eddie? Who does he think he is? He should focus on his own damn life.
When the last period is over, you go straight out, crossing the parking lot to your car.
“I don't know which Hargrove is more stupid. Her or her brother.” The voice reaches you from some cars away, and you immediately stop.
“It's a draw.” Another person says, and at the same moment you recognize the voices, you're moving, searching for the brass knuckle in your pocket.
“What did you just say?!” Shouting, you push some people off your way, and the others just move. Gary, a tall, red-haired guy, is leaning against his car. He's one of Jason's friends, of course. “Say that again if you're brave or stupid enough.”
Through the corner of your eyes, you see another guy moving fast toward you. When he tries to grab your arm, you dodge and throw a punch at his side. The guy groans and falls back. Lucky him, the team jacket will give him nothing more than a bruise.
“You crazy b-” Gary doesn't have the chance to finish, because you're grabbing him by the collar and aiming a punch at his face. But you're suddenly pulled up and away from him, an arm around your waist.
“LET ME GO!” You yell, trying to push him away. Despite the first instinct being to punch and kick to hurt, you hold back. Because you know those who move to stop you, and you'd never hurt them. But you can struggle and yell. “LET ME DOWN RIGHT NOW!“
“Jesus.“ Steve mutters, dragging you away from the people.
Soon enough, you're surrounded by familiar faces. Max, Dustin, Mike, El, Lucas. Nancy is saying something, and Robin snaps at her, making her roll her eyes. You're still fighting, saying things you don't even process and you won't remember after, throat burning and tears rolling down. Steve stops next to his car, and for a few seconds so do you. For some time, seconds, you let him hold you, catching your breath, crying, hiding your face in his jacket. But it only lasts a few seconds. And he knows it, everyone does, so at the same time you have enough, Steve let you go.
Drying the tears messily, you look up at him. “Why did you do that?”
“(Y/N), you can't go around doing that.”
“Mind your own damn business, Harrington!” You shout as Max pulls your arm gently, whispering something you can't hear. “That's why Billy hated you so much! You're very, very nosy!” The moment you say it, you regret it. But as sad and miserable as it is, they're used to your temperament. And you should really thank them someday for putting up with it.
“(Y/N), c'mon,” Maxine says. “We'll have a movie night, remember?”
Stepping back, you take a deep breath, a hand covering your eyes as you notice the headache pulsing. “Sorry.” You mutter, looking up at Steve.
He shakes his head and shrugs. “It's okay. Let me give you a ride home, you're in no condition to drive.”
“I can drive just fine.” You say, swallowing hard. Looking around at your friends - most like family now, it feels -, you know you messed up. Again. And then, you see a light bruise on his cheek. It breaks your heart. “I'm sorry.” It comes out too low, and you're not sure he heard you.
But Steve nods, touching his cheek softly. “It's nothing, really.”
Chewing on the inside of your cheek, you give him a quick side hug. “Sorry.” You repeat and walk away, being followed by Max.
On your way to your car, you notice Eddie at a distance, staring at you. Rolling your eyes, you ignore it, wishing senior year would just end so you can do whatever comes next. You have no plans, not anymore, but it doesn't matter. There isn't much that matters now.
Getting into your car, you speed off, leaving this stupid school behind.
