Sonic Forces prompt: Amy offers herself in exchange for Sonic release, she "says" she'll give special info on their plans for Sonic's return but ultimately doesn't and believes with Sonic back the troops morale will improve. Sonic, however, is angry that his friends would let her do something like that and upon freeing her fears what Infinite did to her to "make her talk." Sonic isn't happy that Amy would give herself up like that and they have a talk that helps them both heal after the war.

I may slightly change your idea, slightly, but I think it’ll be more dramatic how Amy is taken instead of Sonic this way. I don’t think I can come up with much of a reason for Infinite taking her instead of Sonic when Sonic is quite literally passed out, so I made up my mind that ‘this’ way would be a bit more believable. (If this turns into an InfinitexAmy but ends on Sonamy, I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. It... it’s a problem and I can’t stop it, lol)

It was mortifying. Seeing Sonic go down so fast, suddenly becoming still and lifeless...

Everyone froze on the battlefield, and after their bodies forced them to take a breath, Amy rushed in front of Sonic’s limp body.

Infinite slowly floated down, his tail slightly flicking in an elegant manner, but showing his frustration at her immediate interference.

“Hahaha..! And what do you suppose you can do... Your hero has failed you, your forces will end here... There’s nothing your patheic attempt at saving his life could possibly do for your forces...” He placed his hand up to his mask, gloating as he taunted her protective stance in front of Sonic’s laying form.

She frowned heavily, her hands shaking a moment on her raised hammer but quickly gripped it tighter to stop the fear creeping into her heart. “Sonic can’t loose!” She declared, confidently. “Not if we’re all standing beside him!”

Infinite took his other arm and wrapped it around himself, creating a place for his before mentioned raised hand’s elbow to rest on. “If he wakes up... none of you will be here... hahaha!”

His laughter caused Amy’s eyebrows to twitch down into an even fiercer glare.

Getting annoyed at her bravery, Infinite pivoted quickly in the air and threw his arms down, “Stubborn as your kind, I see!” he raised his arm slowly, “No matter... I’ll dispose of all this ‘false hope’ and end this war’s resistance once and for-”

“I’d like to see you try!” Amy took a confident step forward, but Eggman’s voice cut both of them off from their respective ‘duel’ of sorts.

“Infinite!” Eggman seemed to be giving the commands around here, and not Infinite. “I want him captured and alive!”

Infinite flicked his tail again, a bit more to show his growing anger, but turned to Amy. “The Doctor seems to be under the impression that he’s better off watching the world burn then burning with it... an unfortunate call, but he never said anything about preserving his friends lives...”

A red beam shot from his hands as Amy threw up her hammer and was blown back by it, but made sure she didn’t knock into Sonic.

She looked back at him, worried, before shaking her fears off again and standing boldly in front of Infinite. “I’ll go instead!” she cried out. “I can tell you valuable plans for the resistance-!”

“Like I would believe such a tale.” Infinite continued to fire off shots, trying to get her to leave the body to him, but she wouldn’t budge.

She was blasted time and time again by the contact of his beams against her hammer, but she continued to remain strong and deflect them away while not moving from where Sonic was.

She gritted her teeth, seeing he wasn’t going to buy into bluffs.

“No fear,” she began, which threw Infinite off as he pulled back his hand, growing even more furious at her courage. “Amy Rose is here!” she began to charge him, and growing afraid, he shot one red beam out from a few different cubes that appeared around him, firing all into the center of her hammer as she tried to push against it.

She grunted, showing the strain on her body as the laser beams continued to dig into her hammer and weaken her of her reserved power.

He laughed then, seeing her at a standstill. “Your useless attempt at saving his life will end in vain. It’s pointless to strive against a more powerful force than your own!”

“...Eggman... and even you don’t scare me.” She spoke through clenched teeth, but her feet were sliding as she tried to push against the combined red force of the beams.

Infinite’s eye twitched at her words.

“...You will be!” he threw back his resting hand and shot another powerful beam into the center, giving an extra force to the already overpowering might of the Phantom Ruby cubes.

She was forced back, but when she did so, Tails flew into the scene along with the others, leading a defensive wall just to stand as cover.

Knuckles and the others lead another ground team, trying to get people out of there.

Espio suddenly appeared, having gone invisible to get Amy, but she weakly opened her eyes and spoke in a haze, “No... Go... get... Sonic...”

“But-” Espio looked to see Sonic, his fingers finally twitched, showing he was alive... somewhat. “What about you?” He looked back at her and she breathed faintly. “We... need... him.” She spoke, trying to use the last of her strength to push Espio towards him, scooting his foot to Sonic’s direction. “He’ll... raise... morale.”

“That’s not your reason.” Espio knew her undying love for Sonic, but wouldn’t be so easily moved by it. “You’re acting like a fool, let me help you up-ah!” she batted away his reaching hands.

“GO!” she cried out, “Now!”

His eyes flinched at her declaration... his fist shook, “Sonic...” he ran towards him and turned invisible, laying on top of him to block out Infinite’s vision in seeing him, creating a blank space that looked like no one was there... “Forgive me...” He closed his eyes, feeling them shake. He knew Sonic wouldn’t let this go, and probably stage a hasty rescue for Amy... but letting Amy go... what was she planning?!

Infinite had no trouble squandering Tails’s force, flying over them and shooting out his beams before seeing Amy on the ground, panting and trying to get up on her knees, and Sonic no where to be found.

In his rage, he flew straight at her, gripping her throat and pulling her up into the air. “Where is he!?What have you done with him?!”

Amy struggled to place her hands on his own, gripping tightly against her airway. “G-given... the... r-resistance... a-a.... miracle... of... h-ho-hope.”

In his fury, he lifted his other hand to tear her face clean through, but Eggman flew up behind the flames.

“You lost him!?” He roared, but looked around, “Nevermind the girl! Wait-... Wait, wait, wait! Mind her, mind her!” He flew closer to them and sat up in his Eggmobile, shaking a hand in front of himself to visually show Infinite not to hurt her. “Take her with us to the moon! Sonic will always help a friend in need... wherever we take her... he’ll be sure to follow.” Eggman snickered, but then immediately turned to a frown as he flew over and smacked Infinite upside the head, “When that comes-! Don’t screw it up!” he flew off then, as though somewhat intimidated by Infinite as well, but not scared of him.

Infinite, feeling humiliated upon his total victory just a moment ago, lowered his raised hand but kept Amy by the throat.

He pulled her closer to the edge of his mask, “Our quarrel isn’t over... Amy.”

She kept trying to resist his grip, but he pressed just slightly more to make her choke out her words.

Espio heard her struggling, but knew if he moved even slightly, Sonic’s body would be revealed. ‘Forgive me..!’ he continued to think silently, letting Amy endure the torture.

But with a swift kick, Amy got out of his grasp, just before the final blow to knock her out.

“Hmph,” being shoved away, he dusted himself off, flexing the hand he used to strangle her momentarily with. “Persistent... all the signs of an animal on it’s last legs...”

Amy tried to regain her breathing,...

“I have no use for you... but since Eggman believes you can lure out Sonic... I suppose I can let you live... but you did say you had intel on the resistance. Might as well...” He walked slowly towards her, threatening an advance as he leaned down slightly to show he was ready to duke it out again. “Rip the knowledge right out of you..!”

His swift movements didn’t catch her off-guard like they did Sonic, and instead, their fight was met with blocks and swings, before she spun around and flipped back, shoving him away.

While he was still flying back, she used the opportunity to hit Espio and Sonic into the air, swinging them up as Tails and Knuckles immediately flew and glided up to grab them. They disappeared into the fray of the retreating army, but as Amy was staggering to try and keep herself upright, about to flee with them, Infinite gripped her from behind and threw a hand over her mouth so she couldn’t cry for help. Not that her throat had recovered much from his earlier, killing force.

He flew high into the air, keeping her locked in his arms before she bit his hand.

“Fine, except your fate!” he let her go but threw open a false reality, splitting her mind into believing she was being glitched apart and turning into static interference.

He watched with some amusement, before using the realm to also quickly transfer her to the moon’s prison.

Everything was black... and cold.

The metal beneath her only increased her discomfort as she began to slowly blink her eyes, and getting up... looking to see the design very much like Eggman’s handiwork.

Her hands were shackled by some strange technology that glowed light blue, and behind her, a lowered metal bed that hung just a little off the floor.

She sighed and felt her head ringing, not wanting to remember how she got here, but having the memories skate by quickly as she recollected herself.

“Hmph, Eggman is a fool to think this will cause any panic.”

That voice wasn’t familiar... and as she turned to see a huge, hulking red beast with horns in front of her cell, she held in her surprised gasp.

Her mouth opened as her eyes scanned but then shut quickly as he looked over to her, “What will you do with her?” his arms were folded, looking less than thrilled at the prospect of not being able to get his revenge right away. “I was told I could toss Sonic around like my own personal punching bag!” He tightened his fist, “Eggman will hear of my displeasure...”

Infinite’s voice suddenly entered the frame, and Amy felt her chest tighten as though his very voice could constrict her now like he had her throat.

“Leave the girl and whatever use she can be to me. I understand you’re aggravation, but don’t get in my way with your sap story...” He flicked a hand out, as though dismissing Zavok as Amy put together that he must have come to beat down on Sonic even more...

If he were here... hurt and disoriented, worried about his friends and going crazy at the small confinement... no, Sonic wouldn’t have succumbed to dread. He would have taken the beating till he could fight back... He would have remained hopeful that his team would come through. That they could make it and manage a short while without him.

Infinite walked up into the sight of the prison bars... almost like stalking her image a moment before pausing towards the door of her cell. “...What good is your failed bravery now?” he taunted, then tilted his head and gestured his hand out. “Your friends will do just fine without you, that much is true, dying was never hard for your kind anyway.”

‘My kind..?’ Amy wondered if that meant Infinite wasn’t one of them, but perhaps, half robot. She tried to open her mouth but her voice failed her, and she put her hands up to her mouth, realizing all that was coming out was air.

Infinite watched... seeing her frailty, and disregarding it to continue speaking. He looked away from her, “Your friends have been fighting but to no avail... Eggman will crush them soon... and when that happens, he’ll give the order to eliminate the last of them... you.” he looked back to her, “A worthless ant compared to Sonic... just a bigger, squishable ant than you.”

After telling her how much Eggman had taken over the world, even with Sonic still out among the resistance, he then added, “-And no one seems to be prioritizing you. You’re just another casualty to them.”

Amy remained poised, now seeing she couldn’t speak without resounding ridicule from Infinite, she just lowered her hands to her lap and sat properly, staring with a strong look back to him.

“...Even Sonic can’t save the world now.” He waited to see her despair set in... but her eyes simply declared, ‘He will,’.

Infinite’s eye widened and shook, before blinking to a calm and moving more towards her cell. “The last of your hope is about to be snuffed out before you can even see him again..!”

Her eyes blared a holy light of hope, as she let him fall into it’s sucking pull of knowing he was wrong. ‘And you’ll never see it coming...’.

He clashed his hand up against the cell, causing a loud sensation to echo through the whole of the moon’s structure, creating a vibrating force that should have rocked Amy to her core, at least made her flinch, but nothing... “You and the rest of your pathetic resistance is already doomed by my power and the power of the Phantom Ruby!!!”

Amy’s eyes remained constant in their resolve, their power never waning as they once again continued, ‘He’ll overwhelm you in the light of his hope, and you’ll be weak to resist it.’

Slashing the door open as it immediately unlocked for him, he charged into the cell and loomed over her. His body twitched at her still being able to hold her own, and immediately tried to beat out the ‘speak of life’ within her.

She wouldn’t just take a beating, and instead, fought bravely, even though her hands were restricted, summoned her hammer and kept on fighting.

Months had gone by where the routine was to pretend her voice never healed, watch as Infinite continued to try and break her spirit piece by piece with lies, but never fully give in to any of them. Once his patience ran thin, she would fight to stay alive under his brutal hate of her trust in Sonic and her friends.

“I AM NOT WEAK!” he grabbed her hammer which had tried to swing to his head, and threw her down to the ground.

Gripping the top of her head, he threw her against the metallic torture board, but didn’t bother to strap her up this time. “I know your voice should is healed!” his voice was like a shockwave, ringing through the metallic chamber and throughout the moon. He had personally excused Zavok back to the earth to fight Sonic, and though he journeyed there to fight as well, wouldn’t miss a single appointment to try and strip Amy of all she ever believed and held dear.

“You’re just too broken to use it!” he tried to gloat, but she could tell he was only trying to convince himself that she feared him, when it really wasn’t the case.

She pretended it hurt, when it didn’t, and stayed up against the metal board, tilted slightly to hold someone up to a the deadly lightning that would try and shock information out of her.

He paced behind her back, looking to her then away, as though feeling he had nothing left to throw at her, no plan remaining to extract her spirit and tear her core apart.

He wouldn’t admit how strong she was, he wouldn’t allow himself to think such a thing.

So he was convincing himself that he was still winning, and Amy just held her ground time and time again.

He finally moved up to her and slammed a hand against the board, the vibration hurting her hands as she moved away from it and felt herself bump up against him.

She was shocked he was so close, and turned to get ready for another rumble, but he grabbed her shoulder and turned her forcefully, shoving her back against the metallic board.

“Say something...” his voice sounded off, and she looked around, still pretending she couldn’t speak. His claws traced her shoulder down to her collarbone... then up to her throat that slowly began to enclose around her throat again.

She fought but he rammed his elbow into her the metallic board, keeping her in place beneath him, having her slightly lean to match the board’s angle with her back.

“...You still think someone’s going to save you... don’t you?” He lightly squeezed on her throat and she tried to hold back a sound of pain, but he kept his thumb pressing in different places, as though trying to force out a sound. “You don’t even bothering using your voice anymore... not that anything you say would change the truth!” he then threw her away from the metallic board and watch her catch herself before falling to the steel ground. “Even if they try..!” He pivoted to her, angling his head up to loom over her, possessively. “I would never let them have you... Not until I’ve sent you back... in pieces!” He threw back his hand but before he could strike, Amy already summoning her hammer and trying to get her feet under her more, a hook-shot wrapped expertly around his raised wrist, as Infinite was held back. “WHAT?!” he looked bewilderedly back at the wire, and followed it to it’s source...

“Nice shot, Rookie!” A familiar, cheery voice suddenly spun into the fray and spindashed into Infinite, shredded his quills into his Phantom Ruby as the cubes glitched into reality at being threatened.

“NOOO!!!” Infinite was released from the hookshot and pushed back as Sonic’s whirling blue ball of thunder spun in the air a moment before landing in front of Amy, uncurling to reveal her hero.

“Sonic!” she finally let the words out, as Infinite’s eye shook at her voice he hadn’t heard for months.

“The one and only!” Sonic adjusted his gloves, then tapped his foot behind him, as though getting ready for a rumble. “Sorry I’m a bit late, Amy! Zavok took forever to force an answer out of him, what’d I miss?”

“GRAAAH!!” Infinite swung a beam back at Sonic but he quickly dodged it, letting it follow him as he gave Rookie a command.

“Hey, buddy! Get Amy out of here and leave this to me!”

“Nooo!” Infinite turned his target to the red Rookie, but Amy got up and slammed a hammer into his stomach. “Ack..! Ahh... l-liar...” He staggered, and as he did so, tried to reach for her but she quickly gave him one last glare, keeping him up by her hammer, before speedily retreating with the Rookie.

Even at the last second, she wouldn’t speak to him.

He threw out his frustrations onto Sonic, who now that Amy and the Rookie were gone, really let Infinite have it.

From the Rookie, Amy learned how mad and obsessed Sonic was with bringing her back. Chewing out Espio before able to hear reason, he never stopped questioning Eggman and threatening his phantom forces about where she was these six months. He wouldn’t prioritize anything over getting her back, knowing full well she self-sacrificed and risked everything to keep him with the resistance.

“It should have been me!” Sonic kicked Infinite back, but on the second throw, was caught by Infinite’s hand and thrown back.

“Yes, it should have been.” He agreed, and continued to fight him.

“What did you want with Amy anyway!?” Sonic was relentless, and even though Infinite triggered the false dimension many times, Sonic still had plenty of power to keep coming at him.

“...Her voice.” Infinite muttered under his breath, before slashing Sonic to the side and watching him tumble as the gravity began to fail. Sonic was continually spinning horizontally in the air, but floating over to the ceiling’s corner, caught himself and shook his head, glaring back at Infinite and pushing off to dive towards him.

“I wanted her to bring you to me, and now she finally has.”

“Could have been sooner if your mask cracked a bit and you just said where she was in the first place!” their punches weren’t as powerful in zero gravity, but their combined anger meant they were pulling the other to stay within the fight, stay close and personal to keep punching out.

‘I wanted her to choke on her next word-’ Infinite recalled, ‘I wanted her to give up and fall to me like the rest of your insignificant forces! But she wouldn’t!’

Amy was safely delivered to Vector’s escape pod, and the Rookie patted her back, smiling and welcoming her back to earth... and the resistance.

Turning Super Sonic, Sonic also made it out before the moon exploded... and Infinite followed him suit.

Once back at the resistance, Amy could finally rest and get treated for her bruises, which were pretty bad on her throat, where he would target the most.

Eggman scolded Infinite but agreed that Amy was worthless and only there to really cause aggravation and be used as a ‘tool’ really to bargain with and then break their promises and/or deals. Now that she was back, Eggman ordered Infinite to ignore it, but Infinite couldn’t let it slide...

His fingers would twitch to be at her throat again...

With Sonic, hearing she had awaken from her medical rest, he bolted in to startle the nurses and doctors who were looking at her, and noticed her bandaged up with her dress slightly down from her chest to continue fixing up the white bandages.

He turned his head abruptly, but it wasn’t like he could see anything... it was just polite not to stare.

The female doctor who was patching her up smiled at his retreating look, and tied the last knot for Amy, patting her shoulders as Amy blushed and put her dress back up to connect the white collar around her sore neck again.

The male nurse also waved awkwardly to let Sonic know he could look again, and he did so.

“You okay?” He asked, rather quickly, and Amy just smiled weakly to him and closed her eyes.

“I am now that I’ve seen you flourishing!” she chimed, her voice as strong as ever, though not quite matching the patched-up look she had, physically.

“Hmph, Good.” Still angry, he folded his arms and turned his head away. “It would be hard to stay upset if you weren’t.”

“Upset?” Amy asked, curiously, as the rest of the crew eyed one another. Quickly feeling out the mood, they began to depart, letting the two have some privacy.

That same male nurse saw Tails wanting to come in and held up a finger to his lips, showing that he should stay quiet and not bother them right now.

Sonic tapped a foot, aggressively holding in all his words.

“...Sonic? Is everything alright?” Amy worriedly put a hand up to herself and then reached one out to Sonic, but he broke his folded arms and glared at her, with some hurt she didn’t recognize.

“I’ve thought for 6 months how I was gonna sternly call you out for your heroism, how you should have just let it slide and let him take me.” His voice was as though he was banishing her to get out of his presence, but she knew that wasn’t how he was meaning to come off... right?

“After a while, I thought maybe I should explain where I’m coming from, get you to understand how much pain you’ve brought me since you traded in your life for mine.” His voice got softer, but not by much. He leaned on the gurney and got closer to her face, his eyes still intense. “Because... it’s been the first time in my life... that I’ve ever felt genuinely worried for the future... where I couldn’t stop thinking about the ‘what ifs’ and every night, the same cursed dream of not waking up in time to save you... not being strong enough to not picture all the horrible things that Infinite and Zavok must have been doing to you to get information out on me and the others... the whole resistance was crying their eyes out for you and then letting them sting the next morning as they searched for signs of you.”

As he spoke, Amy felt her heart sinking and rising in turns. Like he was filling her heart with the floods of emotions that were quickly blocking and pushing Infinite’s hopeless attempts to sink her out, and letting her heart swiftly rise up to it’s proper position, instead of down by her stomach in dreaming hopes of grandeur that her friends were alright and well.

She saw the earth from above... but forced herself to never cry, never let Infinite get to her...

Sonic was confused by her silence, but seeing her throat, figured it may hurt to speak.

He looked away, his lips parting to show his clenched teeth and her eyes spotting also his scraping nails against the gurney’s covers...

“I honestly didn’t know, Amy...” He admitted, “... if you’d be there in my future or not.”

She gasped.

Never before had she ever assumed Sonic would give in to such thinking...

“But I couldn’t give up...” He closed his eyes, trying to remain unemotional. “I had to disregard my speech, and if I found you, just tell you how I really feel.”

He then turned seriously towards her, his eyes piecing into her heart that he had made soar up to her throat, bumping against the sides as though unable to move further as it was too big to squeeze through, but the emotional floods were pushing it up regardless.

She slightly leaned back, lost for words, instead of holding them back like before...

“Now... all I can say is... why?” he pleaded, “Why did you do it?” his eyes grew hopelessly soft as though unable to keep up the ‘tough guy’ persona. “Why didn’t you just... save yourself?”

It was love, it had to be. Amy couldn’t perceive this change of character without it being somewhere in his heart.

Six months... anger, to sorrow, to now seeking understanding...

She had put him through the works, and she wanted to heal and mend what she had broken in him.

Eggman and Infinite had succeeded in one thing... torturing this poor boy out of his mind with thoughts of her and her predicament.

Though Infinite had done the same to her, she never fell to his designs... And Sonic? He wouldn’t allow himself to fully surrender either, it wasn’t in his nature. However, for the first time, he was admitting how truly lost he was without knowing what had become of her.

“I had to do something, Sonic.” She admitted, raising her hand to put it gently by his cheek, seeing how truly weak he had become now that he was standing before her, and let his knees sink into the bedding of her gurney.

“But... why? I never asked you to sacrifice yourself for me!” he dipped his head, not willing to show her his distraught.

She smiled a little wider, happy to see he hadn’t forgotten what a big risk she had taken for his sake.

“To save you, Sonic,... Was to save the resistance.” she cupped his chin to lift it up so she could press her forehead to his own. “You never needed to ask me, Sonic... and you never should... I will always rush, headfirst, into whatever danger may present itself... if it means I can keep you in my life.”

Sonic’s arms twitched, as though wanting to embrace her.

Seeing him hold back so much, his expression being hidden by his pride, she took the initiative and wrapped herself lovingly around his waist, before flinching at the pain from her bruising.

Gripping her arm, he dug his forehead into her shoulder, still refusing to show her what was happening to him through his face.

“I’ll make Infinite pay for this..” he darkly declared, “I won’t let Eggman get away with this either...”

“I don’t ask for revenge, Sonic.” Amy held him closer, “I just wanted you to be okay.”

“Like I don’t feel the same way!?” Sonic finally blurted out, “Let me fight for you now that I have you back again! We all want too! We-!”

She put his hand up from her shoulder, traced it passed her collar bone which made go silent as he moved back to see what on earth she was doing, and then placed it to her throat.

“My voice isn’t hidden anymore,” she seemed to be symbolizing something, but he wasn’t sure what she was talking about. She looked up at him, giving him the same deadly look of bravery she had given Infinite, “I fight with you, and you... you, and everyone, will be my resisting voice.”

291. Sonic Universe #13

Journey to the East (Part 1 of 4): Endless Reach of Fate

We open in media res at the start of this SU arc, with Sonic fighting a spider ninja and retreating into the Temple of the Golden Lotus in Stormtop Village with Li Yuen. If this sounds like a lot to take in at once, don't worry. If you'll remember, Li Yuen is the lion who acts as the village elder, and the Temple of the Golden Lotus was… uh… originally located in Kar Leung, actually. I'm not sure exactly what to make of this inconsistency, whether Stormtop Village is Kar Leung renamed (the village at the base of Mount Stormtop was never technically named during its only appearance), or whether the temple was rebuilt or relocated considering it was blown the hell up last time we saw it, or even whether this is an entirely separate temple that also just happens to be named the Temple of the Golden Lotus. Either way, it doesn't really matter to the story, as Li Yuen and Sonic take shelter in the temple for now to get away from the attack from the Gossamer Clan, one of the three clans still stationed here in the Dragon Kingdom. Sonic recalls how a few hours ago, his party had arrived and Li Yuen had given them the tour of the place, including telling the story of how apparently, the Dragon Kingdom is so named because it was literally the birthplace of all Mobius' dragons.

In the end, the dragons left a statue behind - a very large, golden statue of a monkey king who just so happens to be the spitting image of one Ken Khan. Sonic, looking at it now, has to admit that the prophecy probably has some merit to it. Li Yuen informs him that unfortunately his friends have been taken hostage by the Gossamer Clan, and speaking of the devil, two members immediately enter the temple through the window. Li Yuen is outraged that they would bring violence into a peaceful temple, so Sonic grabs one and pushes him against a wall for a "friendly chat," noting that they haven't used half the amount of force they're capable of.

Yeah, Sonic's just like that, Li Yuen. If I didn't know better, I'd say he enjoys walking directly into and springing traps, just for fun. But that's ridiculous! The ninjas take him to the Gossamer Clan's base, where his friends are being held, and he agrees to meet the bride without a fuss if they let the others go. Tails is just happy to see Sonic having come to their rescue, Khan is furious about being captured at all, but Sally is quiet and near tears. Khan ushers Sonic into the building so he can talk to her alone, and though Sonic is a bit put out, he takes Tails inside. When Khan tries to talk to Sally, she blows up, crying and saying that she's been failing for a long time now, starting with not arresting Eggman right off the bat when the war ended, then losing New Mobotropolis, and now being captured when they're on an important mission. She feels she's fallen too far from who she used to be, as a young teenager leading a successful war campaign against a global tyrant. Khan initially doesn't know what to say, but then grabs her and launches into the best pep talk he can muster.

Hey, Sally, if it worked, it's not that lousy, is it? At least she's feeling better. The group enters the main chamber and meets with the Bride of Endless Reach, with Sally and Khan introducing themselves formally while Sonic and Tails are rather casual and borderline flippant. Sally is mortified, but Endless Reach doesn't seem to care, instead immediately asking Sally to tell her what happened to Uma Arachnis. Sally is surprised to learn Uma was part of this clan, but like, Sally? You did see that every single spider ninja we've encountered so far looks and is dressed exactly like her, right? Sally tells the truth about her working for Naugus, her change of heart and her eventual demise, and explains the incident with her children and how she initially gave up the Sword of Acorns to them before they were killed and the sword was destroyed. She's apologetic about all their fates, but Endless Reach doesn't seem bothered at all - in fact, she seems strangely pleased, announcing that Uma and her children fulfilled their duties to protect the Source of All from evil as told by their Web of Fate. This does seem to suggest that in the end, Uma was only ever allied with Naugus and Kodos specifically to fulfill her exact role, and I do like this interpretation, as by the time of her death Uma seemed like a genuinely cool but tragic character. It would also seem to explain why she decided to lay a clutch of eggs in the middle of all the chaos, to ensure that her children would be able to carry on her duties even after she was gone. But anyway, what is this whole Web of Fate business?

And now we're reminded why Khan is still working on his hot-headedness. He angrily asks Endless Reach why, if she can read the future, she had been fighting the other clans and leaving the free people of the Dragon Kingdom to suffer. She retorts that the web is theirs alone, that it can only see the broad strokes of the future and not the details, and that he'd better watch his tone when speaking to a clan bride. Things are looking bad for diplomacy, but Sally steps in to suggest that if there are many paths that the future could take, then surely there's one that will lead to peace. Endless Reach agrees she has a point, but demands that if they take this path the King of the Free People must honor her clan's holdings and independence, to which Khan gives his word of honor. Endless Reach consults the web, and after a few tense moments, comes to her conclusion.

Hey, look what happens when you actually talk things out instead of fighting, Khan! Granted, Sonic could learn that lesson as well, but it's a start, at least. That evening, the group celebrates in Li Yuen and Li Moon's house, discussing how things must be going back home with Nicole secretly keeping things stable for them, and though Sonic is still a bit unhappy about the attention Sally is giving Khan it doesn't spoil his good mood. However, tea and dinner is interrupted by a kunai flying through the window with a note attached. Everyone thinks they must be under attack, but Sally knows better.

Oh, boy. Didn't think we'd be dealing with the Yagyu so soon, especially since the majority of them are still stationed in New Mobotropolis. Who's leading them, anyway, with the Bride of Rich Nights gone? Well, guess we'll be finding out…

Well, if the comics are gonna continue why not let these two meet?

Let's pretend that IDW hired me to write a script for a crossover between My Little Pony and Sonic the Hedgehog. Can this actually happen? Well on the Middle Ground we do host Ghost of the Future by Evan Stanley. But that would be like Rooster Teeth hiring me to write an episode of Red Vs Blue because I'm a researcher of Death Battle. Chances are very, VERY small. But in this hypothetical situation, what if I get that shot. For this crossover I'll be following the guidelines of how I presume what Sega allows for IDW. I'm also going to ignore the comics from both sides since I'm going with the assumption people are going to buy this because its a crossover and not because they're fans of said comics. And this will be basically the ideas behind it, nothing concrete. It'll take place after the Coordination and Sonic Forces.

Issue 1 – The Set Up

It begins with Eggman working on a portal with the Chaos Emeralds. Sonic and crew (this being Tails, Knuckles and Amy) coming in to stop him. In one last attack, Sonic knocked Eggman with Cubot and Orbot into the portal, which explodes. Sonic looks worried but Tails reminded him that he was in a similar situation way back and came back. So this isn't likely the last time they've seen him. On the other side, Eggman turns out to be in Discord's realm. Seeing his computers picking up nothing but Chaos Energy all around him, he begins his next big plan. A few moons later, Discord and Fluttershy were having a tea party. Discord doing his usual thing. But the things he creates don't seem to have the same energy they used to. Worried, Fluttershy suggest they go to see Princess Twilight. (Since Discord's realm is so big and he just teleports from his house to anywhere, I doubt he would notice Eggman.)

At the same time, Sonic has been a little restless since there's still no sign of Eggman. Tails told him to relax when Rouge comes in. She asked for their help with Shadow, who is not feeling 100%. When they get there, Shadow still acts cocky but Tails uses his technology to discover Shadow's Chaos Energy is diminishing. If it keeps going like it, he will lose everything. Sonic then makes the connection that Eggman maybe behind this. He's hiding in some dimension where he's draining the Chaos Energy and is likely planning something bigger. So they vow to find Eggman and stop his latest plan. In the Pony World, Twilight discovers the same thing is happening with Discord. And if he doesn't have Chaos Energy, he's going to disappear (like in Discordant Harmony). Discord still has enough magic (with the help from Twilight) to open a portal to his world. Twilight thinks this is something the entire crew have to take care of.

In Sonic's World, Tails manages to recreate the machine and use the Chaos Emeralds as well as a bunch of generators to open the portal to the Chaos Realm. Sonic, Shadow, Amy, Knuckles and Tails will go in to solve the problem while Rogue, Omega and Cream make sure the portal stays open for as long as it can. Because if it closes, its likely they may not come back. With the Ponies, the Main Six are gathered and Twilight and Discord opens the portal. Discord is going to stay behind because as soon as they fix it he can open it again without trouble. Twilight has delegates to keep watch of Canterlot while she's away. Because whatever is happening to Discord can possibly affect all of Equestria. So Twilight, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Applejack, Pinkie Pie and Spike enter into the Chaos Realm. And as soon as they get in, they are right across Team Sonic.

Issue 2 – The Fight

Before the comic, you see a random city background. Then suddenly a big crack appeared. Back in the Chaos Realm, Applejack wonders if those creatures are normal for this world. Fluttershy, who frequently visits Discord, never seen them before in her life. Tails scans them and finds that the seven creatures have the exact opposite frequency of the Chaos Emeralds. That's more than enough for Shadow to go for an attack on them. Shadow goes for a kick but Applejack dodges. This begins the two sides fighting each other. They fight randomly until eventually the party splits up. Sonic takes on Rainbow Dash and after some impressive speed feats one is impressed with the other. Rainbow Dash is impressed someone could keep up with her and says its a shame he can't fly. Sonic then does an impressive stunt and tells her that even without wings, he can still fly.

Tails and Twilight are opponents and while they seem to have a battle of blasts, the fight eventually ends with Twilight commenting on Tails technology. To her, its all theoretical but Tails begins to talk about how it can be done. Applejack takes on Knuckles and between the two of them they're too stubborn to stop fighting each other. Fluttershy, since she's free, is the one who convinces the two of them to stop fighting. Amy takes on Rarity and Spike and she does pretty well against them. Their fight stops when Rarity begins to compliment Amy's outfit. She's flattered and even is open to having modifications done by Rarity. That leaves Shadow to take on Pinkie Pie. Between her own randomness and Shadow's weakened state, he doesn't do well against her. Luckily before he can manage to land a blow, Sonic stopped him. By this point, they got a better understanding of each other and stopped fighting. Shadow reluctantly doing so.

They begin to introduce themselves to each other and agree to work together. Meanwhile Eggman had his security system notice the newly formed team. Eggman has no real concern, but feels he should do something about it. Since he controls the Chaos Energy, he's using Discord's powers to create an army of robots instantly. Cubot and Orbot finds a journal that they think Eggman would like. In it is Discord's plans for Season 9. So with this information, he creates three Metal Versions of Chrysalis, Sombra and Tirek. He gives his three new generals a small army of Badniks and command them to destroy Sonic and his friends. Fluttershy leads the group as they continue to exchange information. Pinkie Pie wonders how one guy can control Discord's Magic and Sonic tells her that Eggman has a lot of experience with Chaos Energy. Then the Metal Villains attacked.

Issue 3 – The Mid-Bosses

Before the comic, a bunch of random islands background. Another big crack appears. Back in the Chaos Realm, the three Metal Villains attack. Metal Chrysalis has her changeling powers, but its more like transformers than magic. And instead of changing into others, she changes into various parts of Eggman robots. Twilight, Spike, Amy and Tails take her on. Spike, Amy and Twilight provide cover as Tails try to hack her. Metal Chrysalis realizes the plan and tries to attack Tails. Twilight stops her with her magic. She's struggles as Tails tries his best to break through her programming. Sadly, its in a chaotic mess and he can't find any sense in it. Before Twilight could lose her hold, Amy jumps on Metal Chrysalis and decides to smash her head off her body. Metal Chrysalis is defeated.

Metal Tirek instead of absorbing Magic he absorbs life energy. Rarity, Knuckles, Applejack and Pinkie Pie take him on. He grabs Pinkie and slowly drains her life energy but a combined punch/kick from Knuckles and Applejack stopped that and restored her. Rarity notices the details of Metal Tirek's designs and instructs the two Muscles to target those parts. They happen to be weak points that help take down the machine. Metal Sombra is basically Sombra. Sonic, Rainbow Dash, Shadow and Fluttershy take him on. To deal with the smoke, Sonic and Rainbow Dash uses their speed to keep him solidified. And with a combination Light Speed Dash and Sonic Rainboom, Sonic and Rainbow destroy Metal Sombra. Shadow wanted to fight but he is growing weaker, so Fluttershy kept an eye on him.

Eggman sees the machines did their jobs: they distracted them long enough for him to complete his latest invention: the Egg Draconequus. With it, he'll finish absorbing all the Chaos Energy in the realm and use it to conquer his world. And eventually all other worlds. The others recover from the attack and try to come up with a strategy. But then they begin to notice the cracks forming around the realm. Twilight theorizes that since Eggman is messing with the Chaos Energy its affecting not only their Chaos Fueled Friends but also other worlds. If they don't stop Eggman, other worlds will be messed up or even destroyed. With this knowledge, they resolve to stop Eggman. Shame for them that they're suddenly teleported to Eggman in his now completed Egg Draconequus.

Issue 4 – The Final Boss

Random locations, cracks shown. In the Chaos Realm, Eggman begins to show off his powers. He removes the wings and horns off the ponies and Spike, the tails off Tails, makes the hammer too heavy for Amy, Knuckles into a paper cut out (think Thanos to Drax in Infinity War) and Sonic, Shadow and the Earth Ponies stuck in something sticky. Eggman continues to boast saying he is truly unstoppable. But Twilight tells him a friendship speech that activates their Inate Elements of Harmony Powers. With those powers activated, everyone is restored to normal. But that doesn't stop Eggman. If he can't control them, he'll destroy them. This leads to a comic long fight between Eggman and the Heroes, with Eggman eventually getting the upper hand. After getting them all in one spot, Eggman goes for one last blast. But to his surprise it was stopped.

The heroes were protected by a Diamond Shield. The Equestrian Girls Seven (in their human forms) showed up to help. They're not the only ones as Blaze also arrives to attack Eggman's Machine. The comic ends with a splash page of all the Heroes united.

Equestria Girls – Seen above.

MLP Generation 1 – The original classic series. Definitely Twilight, Applejack and Firefly. Others maybe.

MLP Generation 3 – The last Generation.

Sol Dimension – Blaze specifically.

The Future – Silver specifically.

Not sure:

Classic Dimension – They got to have some representation since we're going to have the Classic Generation of Ponies. But if not...

IDW Sonic – Whisper and Tangle to represent the IDW Sonic Comics.

Not likely:

MLP Generation 2 – They don't really have a canon. They just have one PC Game. And even ignoring that, that'll give MLP one more dimension unless we include...

Sonic Boom – For some reason, Sega doesn't want to reference this in IDW. So I doubt they'll allow it.

SatAM – As in just SatAM and not Archie. Super doubtful they'll allow this to be referenced again.

Issue 5 – Endgame

All of them fighting the Egg Draconequus. Insert various interactions between generations and interdimensional pairings. Twilight eventually realizing that their best chance is to combine the Magic of Friendship to overcome the Chaos Energy. So the Main Six and the EQ Seven combine their Magic for one blast. But Eggman counters and the two are in a beam struggle. Tails then realize that just because Eggman's machine is absorbing Chaos Energy doesn't mean no one else can use it. So he gets Sonic, Shadow and anyone capable of using Chaos Energy to absorb as much as they can. So we get a bunch of Super Forms from the Sonic Side and Burning Blaze for good measure. With their combined power, alongside the Magic of Friendship, they defeat Eggman. The Main Six offer to give him the stone treatment, but Sonic refuses. Eggman is their problem and they should be the ones to deal with it.

It ends with each pairing giving a goodbye. Sonic saying they hope to meet again and Twilight assuring friendship will last.

And these are my ideas for a proposed IDW Crossover between MLP and Sonic. Think it would work? Do you have better ideas?

Ive actually seen people be like "Eggman is a good person deep down, he just knows he can achieve his goals through malice" but like... If he had a shred of good inside him, would he really name his space base "The DEATH Egg", or awaken an ancient water god that leveled a whole city, or blow up half a moon and possibly cause casualties from lunar tides going haywire alone, or split the planet into its contents simply to awaken Satan itself to steal its power? No good person would do any of that tbh.

Lol exactly, he doesn't have goodness, care, or empathy for a single other soul and he definitely isn't secretly hiding a good side of him that does and I highly doubt that could change either, it wouldn't make sense with how far he's gone without a single ounce of remorse and no known limits that don't include the planet he wants to rule being entirely destroyed so it ceases to exist. I much prefer to think he knows he could accomplish his goals through good and has all the means to do so but specifically enthusiastically chose the path of evil with full self awareness of how bad and wrong it is because he genuinely enjoys the methods and being evil. It would make a whole lot more sense with everything he's ever done.

I don't get the far fetched theories because why would he have to lie, manipulate, and use propaganda if he was secretly hiding a good side? If the truth proved he was genuinely good hearted and wanted to help people, it would make everyone love and give him the attention he desires, so he could just be honest about what he wants and wouldn't have to take over by force and demand it. But the only time he's ever promised anything good for anyone or expressed desire to change his ways for good have all been blatant lies and it's consistently shown to be a huge mistake to trust and believe him. But I still see real people believe his moments of blatant lies, so apparently he's really good at fooling them too XD

Taking away everyone's freedom and having full control over their minds and beings isn't beneficial to anyone, no matter how much people downplay or sugarcoat it. It's supposed to be evil and fucked up and only beautiful to him and he has to lie and manipulate and use propaganda where he says love is mandatory for a reason. He's going to severely damage the environment and pollute everything heavily, his machines are made for destruction and will replace everything he's destroyed to reshape the planet into his dark twisted image. He won't give a fuck about the feelings or conditions of anyone but himself because there's no free will, they have to do everything he wants. People will either die or live to suffer and honestly the ones that live will be worse off.

Creations of his called the Death Egg and his deadly theme parks with attractions that can kill people in gruesome ways that he's fully aware of clearly enjoys detailing and joking about certainly don't imply goodness in him and his actions lol. No good man would awaken terrible beasts to cause mass amounts of destruction and gain power and control, destroy half of the moon and threaten that people are next if they don't submit and give him control, attempt to kill children and random innocent people, be manipulative and abusive mentally and physically, attempt genocide and carelessly cause tons of collateral damage all the time, intentionally damage wildlife and the environment with deforestation and pollution. The list goes on and on. No good man could go that far.

It just doesn't make any sense for him to be good deep down and hide morals and limits! I can't comprehend anyone thinking otherwise about game canon Eggman, no matter how hard I try. And to act like it's possible for him to come back from all that is also just as absurd. I also think it really wouldn't be a great message to send because someone that's done all the things he's done are in way too deep and unforgivable and irredeemable. Especially evident if they can pretend to want to change their ways but just use it to trick people and stab them in the back, like Eggman has done many times. But fans that want him to be a good person usually don't acknowledge all that or downplay it, so I don't think they realize.

Eggman is supposed to be a selfish character to his very core, it's one of his key character traits. And he hasn't been shown to be capable of feeling empathy, remorse, or genuine goodness that isn't a trick to fool and manipulate to get what he wants and then betray. His official bio of Advance 2 saying that he's "without a thought for anybody else" wasn't kidding. All the moments I've seen people try to use as evidence for otherwise have been taken out of context and misinterpreted, despite it not genuinely blatantly suggesting what they're arguing at all. It often involves putting words in his mouth and deciding it means something else, even though the actual scenes and every he says and actually heavily proves against it.

I love seeing Eggman exactly as he is and loving him for it, not out of believing that it's all a lie and he's actually an entirely different person. I really don't understand the appeal of the latter. There's no tragic sad reason for his evil and his lovable charming charismatic personality that would just make it sad and depressing, he's just a maniacal genius that has a blast being evil and loves making inherently innocent things like theme parks, circuses, carnivals, toys, etc, and turning them into dark twisted fucked up things that are only fun to himself and horrifying and deadly for everyone else. He's power hungry and wants to be hailed for the brilliant genius he is and will not only do whatever fucked up evil it takes but loves every second of it.

And I adore every second of this bastard's evil, he's fucked up and badass AND funny and charming and it commonly overlaps in interesting ways. It's fucking awesome that he can do both so well! No goodness in him required to be the entertaining, lovable, enjoyable character he is. And his evil is part of what makes him so entertaining with all his epic thrilling moments and it makes so many of the stories in the games possible in the first place. Evil is epic and fun and not something every villain needs to be capable of changing or hiding a nice side deep down. I wouldn't change a single thing about Eggman, he's a perfect silly selfish evil asshole bastard man in my eyes 💜🥚

167. Sonic the Hedgehog #99

Blow By Blow

So apparently, the entirety of Sonic Adventure 2 took place in a single day. Sonic has by now, returned in the dead of night along with Tails, whom he apparently met up with after the fact outside of Knothole. They try to sneak into Sonic's room undetected, but they're caught by Sonic's parents, who, concerned, demand to know what's going on and why he has been sneaking out lately.

Good luck with that, man. Again, there has to be an incredibly different set of circumstances that took place during the adventure, because there's simply no way that Eggman blew up half the moon and made any world domination demands to the world without being noticed by everyone in Knothole, and this issue makes it seem like the entirety of the adventure took place in secret with only Sonic, Eggman, and Rouge ultimately being any the wiser (plus as I've reiterated so many times before, this planet has one hundred freaking moons, a fact I will never be truly over, so it would have much less impact in this world to blow up one moon among ninety-nine more). The next day, a parade is held in the royal family's honor, and the citizens all celebrate as they walk through the crowds. Sally is torn between being happy about the relatively-peaceful state of the kingdom currently as well as having her entire family back together, and being sad that she hasn't seen her friends in a month and a half. However, the cheerful atmosphere sobers somewhat as the Secret Service approaches the royal family to inform them of their failed excursion the other day.

Back outside Sonic's house, his parents discuss that they may have been too harsh on him after hearing his and Tails' harrowing stories, when their conversation is interrupted by Mina approaching them, wanting to see Sonic. As they go to fetch him, Nate heads to the castle to inform the royal family that he's deciphered the shadow-bot's message sent by Uncle Chuck. When he tells them that Uma Arachnis has the sword, Geoffrey gets all irritated that he and his team risked their lives for nothing, which of course is a sentiment that rings incredibly hollow considering he's the only reason the original message didn't come through clearly in the first place. With this new information, the Secret Service heads out to interrogate Kodos, who is still in Knothole's hospital, about Uma's whereabouts.

Well, it seems Sally has finally found a way to evade Geoffrey's persistent attempts to "escort" her to her friends. Meanwhile, Sonic has begun to try to tutor Mina in using her speed, but she finds it difficult to control and gets frustrated after crashing. Sonic sends Tails away so he can speak to her alone, and as Tails leaves he hears a strange noise and flies to investigate. Sonic tries to encourage Mina, who is upset at feeling like she's not as good as Sonic despite having many things in common with him, and Sonic makes a comment about her being able to help the Freedom Fighters once she's more in control in order to help her feel better. This overwhelms her with emotion, and just as Sally and her entourage approach him to finally speak to each other…

Wow, you picked literally the worst possible time to try to approach him, Sal Gal. Tails reaches the source of the commotion just in time to see Kodos slam Geoffrey through a wall, having escaped the hospital and once again ranting about the sword. He runs away from Knothole, and Sally finally decides that she's done being passive, ripping off her face cover and immediately beginning to issue orders. She gives the order for Geoffrey and the other injured Secret Service members to be taken in for medical treatment, and takes Tails and Rotor with her to go after Kodos. When someone suggests also grabbing Sonic, she sadly declines the idea, remembering Sonic's kiss with Mina a moment ago. Meanwhile, Nate becomes disturbed at hearing that Kodos' behavior is due to his exposure to the toxic atmosphere of Robotropolis, remembering that the Overlanders are all imprisoned in the city. Outside Knothole, Sally and the others don't search for very long before they encounter Uma lying near-motionless on the ground, and as Sally rushes to her side she speaks for the first - and last - time, to tell Sally where she hid the sword. It appears that after Kodos' words about not needing anyone else anymore, she had a change of heart and decided to find a way to return the sword to its rightful owners, officially making her a cool character in my eyes. Nate, within the city, approaches Sonic to tell him where Sally and the others went, and Sonic becomes disturbed that they didn't think to come to him for help, rushing away and leaving Mina behind. But where are Bunnie and Antoine in all of this, you ask? They've been noticeably absent. Well, it turns out they're in the Knothole Prison, watching over Antoine's father.

And with that, the three of them race off to catch up with Sally, Rotor and Tails, to try to recover the sword once and for all…

What Comes Around Goes Around

Okay, look. I've defended Penders' art before. The problem is, if anything, he's somehow regressed as an artist over time. The pencils he did for earlier issues were no worse than those from any of the other artists for the comics, even being genuinely charming and cute at times. But things have changed. If any of y'all haven't seen the awful, awful redesigns he did for characters like Lien-Da, Julie-Su, and Geoffrey for his Lara-Su Chronicles comics after the whole lawsuit debacle, well, consider the art of this issue a taster for just how bad it got. Legitimately, it's just so, so ugly-looking.

But anyway, we have some catching up to do. It's been a long while since we've heard anything from the Dark Legion - not since they seemingly vaporized the Floating Island, in fact. But now we finally get to catch up with them, as they pilot their weird battleship around the world, still apparently satisfied with whatever it was that they did before. Suddenly, a wave of energy rocks the ship, and they begin to get strange readings from their instruments.

Meanwhile, Knuckles finds himself outside the ruins of the Grand Conservatory, where Julie-Su was captured just before the island disappeared. As he enters the ruins, he's shocked to find several Dark Legion lackeys grabbing her and taking her away as before, while an image of himself, in his former red form, chases after them. He's incredibly confused, until a ghostly image appears to give him some advice…

Hawking really does seem like one of the cooler Guardians, if you ask me. He fades away, leaving Knuckles still confused, though he realizes that at some point, the pain he'd been experiencing has completely faded, much to his relief. Back up on the bridge of the Legion's ship, Dimitri orders Lien-Da to go fetch Julie-Su from her cell, where she's still imprisoned with her adoptive parents. Lien-Da is indignant, still full of hatred toward her half-sister, but before she can comply, Knuckles himself shows up on the bridge, ready to confront his ancestor once more…

could you possibly write a lil prompt about the boom! crew on the beach? it's cliché i know, but im a sucker for those stories! (maybe sonic admiring amy's swimwear \( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)/)

The typical anime episode. -siiiighhhhh- lol, sure thing! but don’t expect anything much ^^;

Prompt:

“It’s been ages since the sun shined.” The Sonic gang was sprawled out in different poses around Amy’s home, stuck in from the thunderstorms that had been occurring unusually around the area.

Sticks groaned again, “It’s got to be from shooting the moon. It broke the ozone and made the sun scared to show its face again!” she flopped her arm over her eyes.

Amy was sitting by the windowsill, looking gloomy as Sonic had just so happened to see her forlorn gaze out the window. He was laying on her couch, one leg relaxing while the other was lifted up a bit.

He made a kind of grunt, sad he couldn’t lighten the mood for everyone.

“Wait, who shot the moon?” Tails, laying his head on the kitchen counter, peered up to puzzle at Sticks’s words.

“Heard it on the news.”

“You can never trust what’s new.” Knuckles, having laid over the t.v, draped his whole being over it and shook his head.

“I’d give anything for the beach.” He whined.

“That’s it!” Sonic sprung up, bouncing on his butt a moment. “We’ll have a beach day!”

“Eh?” Everyone turned around, not sure what he meant.

“In this weather?” Amy’s face looked skeptical, but he gave her a signature wink and thumbs up.

“Trust me!”

—-Eggman’s layer—

“Whohoho! With this new device, I can alter the weather at my leisure! And you know what they say, without the sun, your mood can change. So! Let’s watch as Sonic and his pathetic friends lose the will to fight back against my Eggmanland theme park invasion this time!” Eggman took a rather large telescope and peeked through its eye.

His sight began to travel at lightspeed before reaching the window that Amy was once looking out of.

“Hohoho… wait…” He glared as he stuck his eye further in, “This can’t be!”

Both Cubot and Orbot looked at one another, confused.

——Amy’s house—–

Amy was rubbing some sunscreen on before Knuckles turned the container over to reveal it was actually mayonnaise. Amy looked disgusted at first, shocked at realizing what she was rubbing on her arm, but Knuckles happily stuck a finger in the container and started eating it. Amy laughed, deciding to let it slide.

She and Knuckles were in swimwear, Amy wearing a cute ruffled one-piece and Knuckles in huge blue and white shorts.

“Cowabunga!” Sonic held his nose and breath, jumping into a pile of pillows as Sticks pretended to be deep sea diving in the sink, peeking up and spraying water out of her mouth, hitting Amy and Knuckles.

“Hey!”

“Hehe, watch out for the splash zone!” Sticks teased before Sonic threw a pillow and hit her in the face. “Oi!”

“I’ll show you the real splash zone!”

“Straight from the Antarctic?”

“You and your-”

“Hey! At least she’s conscious of it.”

“Not you too…”

Sticks still had her normal clothes on, but Sonic wore a white T-shirt that had a pink and yellow surfboard on it, spelling out- “BEACH BUM” over the image in big yellow and blue wave graphics.

“Haha! Since when did you like the ‘water’, Sonic?” Tails teased, kicking his legs out by the couch, pushing some pillows. He had on a full surfing attire, black with orange stripes.

“Since the ‘water’ isn’t wet!” Sonic teased, throwing some pillows at him as Tails grabbed one and they started ‘splashing’ each other with heavy blows.

“Roughhousing never had so much meaning before.” Amy rolled her eyes, making the pun as Sonic looked up from Tails.

Everything went slightly slow motion, Amy sitting on the counter and shaking her hair out from Sticks’s playful waterspout from before. The drops flew around as she laughed, and Sonic quickly was distracted from Tails’s final attack.

“Ha!” Tails pushed him under the pillows, “Got ya!”

“Uncle, uncle!” Sonic waved a hand out as Tails let him up.

“Oh yeah!” He flexed, “King of the wave!” he winked back to the others, but Knuckles just kept rubbing mayonnaise on himself and gave a haughty snicker.

“Haha… Clearly, you have yet to experience my full power!” Knuckles dabbed some on his nose then charged into the pillows, “Cannonball!”

Sonic and Tails were flung with the pillows “Woah!” as Knuckles stood in a fetal position and peeked an eye open.

Sonic and Tails were sprawled out again, laughing.

Sonic looked up to see Sticks still splashing water at Amy, Amy trying to playfully stop her.

Again, the giggles and slow-mo’d caught Sonic off-guard again. “Hehe, no Sticks, stop~”

“Watch out!” Tails cried out, shaking Sonic out of it as a pillow flew into his face, pushing him off the edge of the couch’s backrest he had been pushed out onto.

“Offph!”

“Sonic!” Amy stopped her antics with Sticks and ran to his side.

The others followed after her, as Sticks pushed everyone aside, “Let me see…” she picked up his foot and tried to listen for a heartbeat. “Nothing. He’ll need CPR.”

Amy’s face flushed, ‘This is it! This is the moment I’ve-!”

Knuckles shoved everyone away, pulling Sonic’s head up, “No! As Sonic’s best friend, I’ll-”

Tails was about to push him away, mouth open to complain, but looked back to Sonic’s unconscious expression and realized that if he argued that he was Sonic’s best friend… he might be expected to do it.

So naturally, Tails coughed and gestured for Knuckles to proceed, pulling out a camera to mock Sonic for the rest of his life with this gold.

“K-Knuckles, you really shouldn’t though.” Amy nervously tried to place a hand on Sonic’s chest, pushing him down and away from Knuckles’s tight hold on him.

“Why not?” Knuckles looked offended, but also slightly sad she would suggest that. “Am I not worthy?” his eyes teared up.

“N-no. You’d be a great lifeguard! It’s just…” Amy thought fast, “Mayonaise! Oh, Sonic’s terribly allergic.” she fibbed.

“R-really?” Knuckles looked himself over, covered in it.

“Oh yes, and it’s all over your face too…” Amy sneakily pulled Sonic towards her as Knuckles’s grip loosened.

“Y-you’re right.” He sniffed, rubbing his nose. “I only make things worse.”

Amy’s fake smile dissipated. “Oh, Knuckles, that’s not true-” she turned sympathetic before Knuckles reached out for Sonic again.

“Then we’ll risk everything!” Knuckles pulled Sonic back.

“Like I’d let that happen!” Amy’s kindness had it’s limits as the two aggressively fought and tugged Sonic’s body back and forth between each other.

“It’s like a real-life drama.” Sticks looked unimpressed, “Only this season’s conclusion is either gonna end in joy or horror.”

“He’s mine to save!” Knuckles pulled.

“He’s mine in GENERAL.” Amy hollered back and gave a forceful tug back.

Tails watched the scene, not even bothering to record it as he sighed.

“T…Ta..Tahils..”

He heard something and watched as the corner of Sonic’s mouth moved slightly, “Ghet Knuxs off of meh.” he slurred a bit, trying to play dead.

“…Huh?”

——–Eggman’s Lair—–

Eggman’s face was highly fixated on the scene before him. On one hand, he wanted them to tear Sonic apart, but on the other hand, he was also interested in how this season would end.

“Doctor, perhaps we could-”

“Shhs.”

“But you can’t even hear anything! We just want to know what you’re looking at!”

“I said hush! You annoying bags of bolts…” Eggman grumbled, pushing and shooing Cubot and Orbot off from their obsessive clinging to the crook of his elbows.

They finally began to struggle a little more, curiosity getting the better of them as Eggman had to look away to fight them off.

“You insufferable-!” he looked back, but by the time he did, Sonic was rubbing the back of his head, nervously smiling as both Knuckles and Amy covered their faces and turned away.

Tails looked mortified as Sticks stuck a finger in her mouth to show her disgust, but then laughed and pointed at Sonic.

“No…no, what happened?” Eggman zoomed in more, but the rains poured over the windowsill, causing his vision to become obscured.

“NOOOO!!!!”

After a painful lesson, Eggman turned the weather to normal and destroyed his machine.

As the team went to a real beach day, gathering their gear and beach baskets or bags, Eggman watched safely away from the scene, laying on his chair with opera viewing spectacles.

“But what are you watching, Eggman?” Orbot asked again, this time Cubot chiming in too.

“Yeah, when do we ever get to watch your adult sitcoms?”

“HUSH.” he growled through gritted teeth before snickering as he watched Sonic splash Amy, coaxing her into a fight as she raced from the water and chased him down the beach.

But then, Sonic tripped and rolled to face-plant into the sand, leading Knuckles to slow-run over and pick Sonic up again.

The Sonic crew all shook their hands out, exclaiming, “NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!”
