Me: Music these days is so nasty. It's nothing but sex and drugs! I don't think minors should be listening to this!
Also, me: I listened to stuff like THIS as a child
#im working on deconstructing my strange conservative mindset#bc tbh#i didnt understand what the music was talking about and i didn't care. i just liked the music#so why does the subject matter matter?#i honestly dont think media has as much effect on minors as the conservative freaks like to believe#i played GTA 3 when it came out (I was under 10) and im mostly fine... like the majority of minors exposed to those games are#if a minor is influenced enough by unsavory subject matter then they probably need professional help#like... DOOM did not cause Columbine. mental illness did#and this is not to villainize mental illness (bc I have a violent mental illness and I understand the problems)#but its to say that parents should just take better care of their children#make sure your kids feel safe and secure talking with you about things#observe the media that your kids partake in and make sure they understand what they're seeing#respect your kids#treat them like the humans they are but make sure you talk to them#Spotify
