ANGSTY DRACO AND HARRY HEADCANONS ((TW))

so im writing this with caution. these are some *really* sad and possibly TRIGGERING headcanons for some. but they've been bouncing round my head for days (i fckn thrive on angst and sad shit) so i wanted to share.

triggering themes to be aware of before reading ARE:

alcohol abuse

drugs; cocaine misuse

eating disorders; anorexia

self-harm; cutting

suicidal ideations

imprisonment

hints at abuse

rough sex

if any of these topics trigger you, i urge you to use your own judgement and exercise caution. please do not read these headcanons if you fear they will trigger you and/or you cannot read things like this. i have given you all these warnings so they don't just appear out of the blue. I have added the keep reading option so that nobody sees them accidentally. The last thing I want is for people to be triggered by even having to scroll past and catching a glimpse of it. Please take care of your mental health!

most of these are headcanons for draco because i just fckn love draco and think about his life more than any other characters.

ive put a lot of thought into these. ofc i accept constructive criticism and would be happy for healthy debate if anyone disagrees with any of my hc's!

DRACO MALFOY:

draco suffers from anorexia. as a slytherin, he desires control over situations (particularly his own). however, his entire life has essentially been mapped out for him and he has lost a lot of his control over his life. as a result of this, when he was around thirteen and had a little more control over his outward appearance, draco started to obsess over his body image. nothing was every quite right. he decided to take control over that and make it to his vision of perfect. so he didn't eat unless he absolutely had to, or he was in important company and his father told him he had to keep up appearances, and even then he would go for a jog and feel ultimately guilty for it afterwards. this ended up worsening during his sixth year of school. all draco wanted was to have some control and often it felt that the only control he truly had was his body image,

draco was imprisoned in azkaban for a year following the trials and the war. it doesn't sit right with me that the malfoys got it lightly, they still did wrong. but draco was only imprisoned for a few months to a year to set an example and to teach him a lesson. he then spent two years on probation/parole. of course he knew that he'd done wrong, he accepted the punishment and it nearly destroyed him,

following his imprisonment in azkaban, draco pretty much changed his entire perspective- he smeared the feared malfoy name according to his father. draco became an activist for muggles and muggleborns, supporting hermione in securing more rights for them. he had intense amounts of guilt for what happened and his imprisonment made him realise that. he had a lot of time to reflect on the man he knew he should become,

after azkaban, draco essentially looked like machine gun kelly. he got a nose piercing, he covered himself in tattoos (mainly to distract from the dark mark on his arm) and he tended to kick about in muggle clothes (like a baggy jumper, hoodies, skinny jeans, doc martens, converse etc). of course that would all settle down as his anger towards his father and family settled. it was an initial act of rebellion to what his family stood for that he didn't agree with,

despite trying to do good in the world and support hermione in her multitude of causes, draco was still haunted by the ideals he grew up with. so he turned to drug abuse, namely cocaine, to distract his mind and still feel a buzz instead of depression. the cocaine addiction also becomes part of his anorexia, leaving him without food because he feels he doesn't need it,

throughout school, draco was a self-harmer. he would cut his thighs to have some form of relief. the reasons for this were almost always depression, but were triggered by individual events such as; not getting a perfect score on an essay (fear of punishment from his father), the issues with his body image, the forceful nature of his parents, the rise of the dark lord, dealing with his sexuality (i see draco as exclusively gay, but tries to be heterosexual for his family's sake and that has a lot of issues within itself). the self-harm subsided after azkaban and when he'd discovered the effects of cocaine (which could be argued that his addiction to coke was in itself an act of self-harm).

basically, no one punishes draco more than himself for his role in the war

HARRY POTTER

harry's never had a normal, easy life. he's either been abused by his aunt and uncle, or he's been fighting the dark lord and his goonies for the entirety of his school career. so after the war, things are settled for him. he's famous, he's being handed things for free, he's got the job he wanted, but he's not happy. because most of his formative years he was constantly fighting to make the wizarding world a better place, the sudden calm and quiet post-war has caused him some major depression issues. this it not to say harry wasn't depressed and anxious before, it's merely been amplified post-war. after the war he experiences feelings of worthlessness and paranoia. he's both ready and not ready to fight again. the world isn't the same and he's not settling well into the new way of living, the calm. his feelings of worthlessness accumulate and harry's friends and family are essentially on suicide watch for a few years post-war. they're worried that harry is going to kill himself. not only is harry suffering with feelings of worthlessness, he has survivors guilt. so many people died in the war and he blames himself. he should have been the only death, in his opinion. he's stubborn so won't believe any of his friends when they say that it's not his fault they died. he's attempted suicide a few times when the survivor's guilt gets too much and due to this he cannot live alone, his friends always have someone with him,

harry becomes an alcoholic post-war. its his way of dealing with things. he rely's heavily on alcohol for the feeling of numbness. it started out, in his opinion, as harmless fun but he became reliant on it. it becomes a problem and on top of his suicidal ideations, his friends are unbelievably worried. they eventually manage to get him into rehab and he becomes sober, but then he turns his self-depreciation onto something else,

sleeping with draco began as a way of releasing anger and sexual tension. they started sleeping with each other after meeting at a wizarding club - draco was coked out and harry was drunk (probably on something too). their sex started in club bathrooms, anywhere dirty and messy because they just didn't care. then when they eventually went somewhere with a bed (hotel room, one of their flats), the sex became angry and was extremely rough (choking, spanking, scratching, slapping, hair pulling). the type of sex they had was bordering destructive as a result of their pent up anger at the world and each other. but after both of them became sober from their addictions, they continued seeing each other and it blossomed into something special and caring. of course they still had rough sex, but they had plenty of aftercare instead of a rough fuck and go,

not entirely related to the headcanons, can be separated or go hand in hand, but transgender harry potter. imagine harry growing up known as "the girl who lived" and it caused a lot of dysphoria growing up in a world being reminded that he wasn't cisgendered. he came out and the majority of hogwarts was accepting (even draco, he may be a dick but not that much. he would stop bullying harry using she/her pronouns and then use he/him). imagine harry constantly being reminded that he was the girl who lived. after the war, they started coining him as the boy who lived, but there were still pockets of people who refused to accept him as trans.

basically, the reasons i have these headcanons is because i don't think draco or harry would be entirely okay afterwards. they suffered a lot of trauma in the years leading to, during, and post war. that would have massive effects on their mental health and there's no way they would continue being arrogant and cocky - internally at least. they could be that way externally as a result of their trauma, anger at the world, and the need to make people believe they haven't been affected as much.

[19:10]Louis Chamberlain || How many moons has it been since that fateful day deep inside the Children of the Dawn’s ritual chamber? Six moons. Yes. It has been at good six moons. Louis’ injuries -that had almost killed him- took a long, *long* time to heal. The first week had been a constant battle against a nasty infection that kept cropping up. Pus and necrosis eating away his flesh at an alarming rate (cursed those denizen of the Void!), and if the young man barely survived his encounter with the Lady, --

[19:10]Louis Chamberlain: that week had come very, very close to permanently end him.

[19:10]Louis Chamberlain || For now, he was stable. He has been for the past three moons. On his chest, where previously there was bone showing, only a faint scar was left. Muscles had been mend, bones had regrown and skin regenerated. He was still asleep. Still asleep and refusing to wake up. At least he was alive.

[19:10]Louis Chamberlain opened his eyes. “Alveus! T-The Lady! It’s a trap!” Quick! He had to warn him! If he was to get him, it was the end of all! It has been a ploy all this time! And Abigail! Oh, Echidna, Queen of Monsters, help him! Where was Hawk? He had to find him!

[19:18]The Hawk had been taking care of the other man the entire time , it had been tedious work and at some point he had thought about merely discarding Louis. But it had been only for some minutes before that thought was put away , no. He had some piece of humanity still in him. So Potions he gave him , checked up upon him daily and tried to ignore Zaz most of the time. But even despite his best attempts progress was slow , even with how time easily flew by for Alveus due to the repetition of everyday >

[19:18]The Hawk | work. Even today was no else , he had checked up upon Louis after waking up and tended to his work and own source of food. And after all that he had returned back home , took a long bath and dried off his hair with a towel. He had just barely put his clothes back on when he heard the sudden scream of Louis. With a decent pace he made his way upwards , the mask discarded in the safety of his home and long strands of brown hair , that had grown a lot in the past months draped over his >

[19:18]The Hawk | shoulder and face. "You are awfully loud." , the voidsent spoke , the gaze of those golden eyes seemingly stronger than before. In general he had changed , his aura had too.

[19:21]Louis Chamberlain: “-W-What?” He tried to sit in the bed he was left in. He couldn’t. What was going on? He couldn’t move? He wiggled his fingers: they obeyed, albeit very weakly and very slowly. “But, but, but… But.�� (He shivered. There was something… different about his friend.) “We have… Abigail. It’s.. we can’t stay here. And I can’t move!”

[19:25]The Hawk merely watched the struggle of the other before he shook his head. "Stop panicking." , it sounded more like a command than actual concern , feet carrying the taller voidsent besides the mans bed and settling down there. "Abigail is dead , so is most of the cult." , it was the sad reality Alveus had been faced with , and even if her dead still weighted heavy on him there was nothing he could turn back time with. His words were oddly cold , lips pressed into a thin line as he stared at Louis.>

[19:25]The Hawk | "You were out for months. Are you in any pain?"

[19:29]Louis Chamberlain flinched at the news and this was akin to a slap to the face. He quickly calmed down, confliction emotions passing on his face. “N...No. I feel okay. No pain.” Silence. He had no idea what to say. “You don’t look okay. You’re… um. I don’t know. Not like you were before… Was it really moons? I slept all this time!”

[19:29]You express your worry with The Hawk.

[19:34]The Hawk tilted his head at him , listening to the concern in Louis voice. "Six - and you should rather be concerned about your own health." Golden eyes looked him over , the other seemed fine enough. No bleeding , no sign of sudden death that could occur. It would be a loss if Louis would now die after the work he had put into him. "I am most well , unlike you." , Alveus hums softly - the hint of violet swirling in his eyes , hidden away like the sheer power of the brown haired.

[19:40]Louis Chamberlain wiggled his fingers again, trying to close his fist. He couldn’t do it. That. That was very concerning. Will he ever be able to hold a bow ever again? “I-I’m so sorry.” (He wasn’t sure why he was apologizing.) “You took care of my all this time… It must… and Abigail is dead. I couldn’t do anythin’. We got played like a g-godsdamn fiddle. And all of that for the Heart of Sammy that wasn’t even existin’.” (He bit his lower lip.) “I can’t sit.”

[19:43]The Hawk stayed silent , only letting out a gentle sigh at the end of Louis speech. "Its not your fault. I agreed to come with them." , it was the truth. If he had merely denied and killed them off right at the spot and would have told Abigail this would have never happened. Yet the fear of her discovering what he is brought this all to an bloody end. "You're pushing yourself too quick. Dont rush it."

[19:46]Louis Chamberlain: “How can I hunt if I can’t move? Do you think I’ll ever…” (He let his voice trailed off.) “...be like before? Or did I change forever? I-I don’t want to change!”

[19:49]The Hawk | "Youre panicking again." Brown hair falls into the mans face as he shakes his head at the concern of Louis. It is a concept that was hard to grasp for him , emotions are a thing he is still learning. Yet the basic understanding is what he misses. "I cant tell you if you do or not. Besides - " , he eyes him. " - you only need Aether to survive."

[19:52]Louis Chamberlain || Oh. His predatory nature. Aether. That was a subject he didn’t wish to get into so he didn’t. Then, he realized. A bit *late*, but he realized. “You’re not wearin’ your mask anymore. I… I can see your face. Where did it go?”

[19:56]The Hawk | Louis wasnt very fast when it came to things , especially how Alveus had been looking at him the entire time. "Its downstairs." , he nods his head towards the general direction. "We're at my home , so I have no reason to wear it." , that seemed like a good enough explanation the voidsent could give the other. Overall the assassin looked - well , different. [19:56]The Hawk | dark circles , a ruffle on the mans chin and a large scar spanning over his face - by the looks of it it was very old.

[20:02]Louis Chamberlain ‘s lips made a soft “O” shape. “Oh, yeah. That would explain this.” (He looked toward the sky.) “Did you know I thought you had Moonrot and this why you were wearin' a mask all this time? People say it’s not a real disease and even it doesn’t exist but I don’t agree. It’s just very rare. Even if I never personally saw anyone with it. Uuuummmh, in any case… It’s nice to see your face.” (There were more attempts of him wiggling, none were very succesful.) “You have-

[20:02]Louis Chamberlain: a scar.”

[20:07]The Hawk | Just slightly did a eyebrow rose at the mention of Moonrot , it was something he had never heard before. But Alveus also didn't care much for mundane illnesses. As long as he can remember he never had them since the change of both body and mind. "Yes." , a hand reaches out to graze fingertips against the scarred skin before letting the hand drop once more. Just sometimes he bothered to look into a mirror. "It is from the ritual." , he answers before Louis can ask , he knows the other>

[20:13]Louis Chamberlain: “The ritual…” (Something dark passed into his eyes.) “I remember… My chest. It hurt. I could see my bones.” Awkwardly, Louis managed to look down, examining himself. Everything was there. Everything except for this scar, zigzagging all over his torso, ending at the base of his neck. “Can’t believe I saw what was inside of my this day. T-That was scary.”

[20:13]Louis Chamberlain || It was at this moment something pink and m o i s t decided to come visit. It was Zaz, squishing itself under the door little interstice. That Voidsent had no bone, or if it had, they could collapse at will. <We sensed you, rousing from your slumber, big brother. We come. For you. We should partake in live flesh to celebrate your awakening.>

[20:18]The Hawk | "No. Not that Ritual." , he hums once more - looking at the scar that Louis now had. He had seen it first hand , how flesh was eaten away to reveal bone. Seconds later without Alveus acting and the other would most likely be dead by now. "They are right." , the voidsent muses at Zaz's words. "You need to get aether into your body , it could help with your movement issues." He eyes the companion of Louis , never knowing what it was up to most of the time. "I can bring you some."

[20:22]Louis Chamberlain lied, as usual, it wasn’t a subtle or natural: “Oh? No, no, no I’m not hungry. D-Don’t get too bothered by that. I’ll, um… Spoken food is fine.” Zaz made a strange sound, something akin to a “tut-tut”, Voidsent version. <Stubborn and dumb. This experience has not changed you. No, it has. You are as helpless as a Vilekin larva>

[20:26]The Hawk | For once Alveus could agree with Zaz , if only Louis would mature some and realize that he needed Aether to survive. "I will bring you some later , or would you rather want to die and never move again?" , it sounded almost cruel how the voidsent said it , yet it was a truth that Louis had to accept at some point of his life. "Im sure your friend is hungry to feast upon your body once you are dead."

[20:29]Louis Chamberlain: “I-I-I…” He tried to say something no argument could come out of his lips. He was starving. He hasn’t eaten, Aether that is, in six moons and the itch! The Hunger! It was so painful! “Bring someone… mean. A killer. A killer just like me.”

[20:34]The Hawk sighed , eyes closing for some seconds , of course Louis wanted someone not innocent. But a Murderer he could find , Eorzea had many of those. "I'll bring you somewhere better to eat." , he muses. He liked to keep most of his nonspoken food somewhere better to clean. Immediately arms wrapped around the much smaller body of the man , picking him up was easy and the assassin already made his way downstairs.

[20:37]Louis Chamberlain had one reaction: panic. “H-Haaah, y-you’re carrying me! Oh Scathach q-queen of the night! We’re really going! But, um… Aah, my horns! What if people see me!”

[20:41]The Hawk rose an eyebrow at Louis and his - well , colorful palette of words. "We're not going outside." , he answers the others question. In fact , this room was one of the few of the many that Hawk seemed to possess , and moving out of the door just revealed stone corridors , easily noticeable to be from Thanalan. So that meant that they were still somewhat hidden. The cave system was slightly intricate , but easy to recognize if one walked often along here. So Hawk merely brought him to another >

[20:41]The Hawk | room , leading stairs down to a place somewhat darker.

[20:43]Louis Chamberlain: “Oh…” This, however, was bringing more questions than answers. “Do you keep people in caves or…? Where are we, exactly?”

[20:47]The Hawk shook his head slightly. His hair was finally starting to dry after the bath and shower he took. "The entirety is build into a mountain. I live here. It is more convenient." And in fact he did use this room quite frequently , the harsh smell of umbral Aether and his own scent lingering heavy in every crook and cranny. [20:47]The Hawk | the Chair close to the fire , setting Louis down and making sure he wouldnt fall.

[20:51]Louis Chamberlain: “That place smells like you. My home just smells like wet dog and dirt. All the gil on the ground is, um, it’s cozy,” He slumped into the chair, having no muscle tonus whatsoever. That was what being in the coma for six moons doing to one’s body.

[20:56]The Hawk watched how Louis slumped into the chair. At least he wasn't falling onto the ground and laid there. Which was already more than what he was expecting. "Then you should be more clean -- and kill more." , its a weird tip he gives the other but it is what made the place smell like him. And well , of course rubbing his scales over the furniture. [21:03]The Hawk nodded towards Zaz , he was right. Louis surely could be much stronger - he had potential for more. Yet how scared he was he just held himself back. "Ill go and bring you your food." , he said with that usual monotone voice of his. Alveus didnt need to tell Louis to stay here and wait , the possibility of the other voidsent even moving to the door was very low. "In the worst case you can still eat your companion , shall your hunger be more." And with those words he was already out of the >

[21:04]The Hawk | door , the soft steps of his boots upstairs echoing against the stone walls.

[21:07]Louis Chamberlain sighed, sinking into deeper in the huge chair. He felt it was eating him; will he still be there when Alveus was to return or would he has disappeared in the leather of the recliner? “Y-You guys…” He didn’t finish his sentence. If he had the strength to shrug, he would have. “Nevermind.”

[21:10]The Hawk returned soon after , perhaps it took around half an hour or more till Alveus boots were easily heard , the sound of the man dragging something behind him clear in the cavern walls together with the clink of metal of his own armor he had put back on. When the voidsent entered the room he was wearing his old armor again , hints of blood on it. His hair was dry now too , tied together at the back ,and facial features once more hidden by an onyx mask. The man he had dragged in , a bit older >

[21:10]The Hawk | than Louis seen by his facial features was definitely a thief , judging from the worn clothes and scars. He was unconscious , so it was easy for Alveus to drag him in front of Louis - holding him up by his collar. "Here."

[21:14]Louis Chamberlain was STARVING and that time he didn’t hesitate. If he could, he would have jumped on that man, to tear his Aether from his body. Instead, slow, awkward, weak, he took a while to finally clutch his prey. When he did, no remorse. No second thought. Lips against lips, he sucked every bit of lifeforce out of that poor sod. Aaaaaah. He could feel it. Aether rushing thought him. It *was* making him better. “D-D’you think it’s weird I kiss so many guys on the mouth?”

[21:21]The Hawk only watches with mild interest how Louis takes the life of the man without much hesitation like he had done so before. It was only natural after the lack of Aether how hungry the other voidsent was. "Its how you survive. Why would it be weird?" , the tilts of the masked face hides the slight confusion on his features. Yet it is a genuine question Alveus asks Louis , interested why he thought it would be weird to survive.

[21:24]Louis Chamberlain: “I… Y-Yeah, you’re right. I wonder why it has to be this way it’s… It’s embarrassin’, don’t you think? K-Kissin’ strangers all the time.” (Somber.) “And killing them. I guess it means I’ll never kiss someone I love. They’ll die if I do.”

[21:27]The Hawk | Its an interesting thought , yet love was something Alveus himself had never thought of much. It was a concept even harder than normal emotions for him to understand. Was he even capable of such? Yet loving a monster - none would or could. And Alveus was fine with spending the rest of his life utterly alone. "There is plenty of other things mates can do , shall you find one."

[21:33]Louis Chamberlain tensed up, feeling heat flushing his cheeks and his ears. Did Alveus meant…? OF COURSE HE MEANT THAT. “W-W-W-W-Weeeeeellllll, uuuuuuuuum, y-yeaaaaah, I’ll… When… Y’know… Stuff. Erm.” He scratched the tip of nose. Ah! His arm! It moved. Was Aether all he really needed? Looks like Hawk was right. Feeding was accelerating the healing process. “Have you seen that?!?”

[21:36]The Hawk head was still tilted towards the side , watching the color on Louis face spread. "Or do you gain aether trough that way too? , genuine interest lingered in his voice. He knew not much about other voidsent , never truly meeting them or trying to stay out of their way , living his own life. "If I have seen it? Yes , the process of mating is not unknown to me , I come across the sight often." , he answers - taking the question Louis gave him in a other concept.

[21:43]Louis Chamberlain blinked. By the Abyss! Him wanting to change the subject for something less… squishy and it was back on the table. “I-I don’t know if I take Aether that way, I never tried it. I… I have no one to try anyway and I guess I’ll never know. But if my kiss kills I don’t see why my… um m-mating wouldn’t either.” Oh! No! He didn’t wish to know how many times Hawk had sexual encounters! Ah, too late he had already imagined it! Cast away the cursed picture in his brain! Some-

[21:43]Louis Chamberlain: sweat beaded on his forehead, he tensed his jaw. “H-Hah, did you? You had many lovers then? Good for you, hahaha…”

[21:48]The Hawk | "So certain bodily contact drains Aether from your prey." , its not a question , more of a statement born from Alveus interest and Louis answer to that. "Perhaps you can simply control it." At the talk of his own lovers a brow rose beneath the onyx mask. "No. The Hunger I would have would easily kill any mate. And there is nothing beneficial that comes from me mating." He was none to go out and find someone to mate , it seemed pointless for the Hyur like voidsent. "I can gain mine Aether>

[21:48]The Hawk | merely by eating alone." , no need in pointless acts of sex.

[21:53]Louis Chamberlain looked away, brow furrowed in confusion. “Maybe I can control it. Maybe I can’t. What I know is I never managed to do it so far. If I touch someone, I’ll kill them. N-Not immediately but I will. I find kissing is the most efficient and, um… That’s what my instinct tells me to do.”

[21:57]The Hawk could see with the lack of Louis being able to turn into something more monstrous that it was easier for him to take Aether by a kiss , Alveus on the other hand could not do so. "Perhaps it is one of the things you should train if you want to find a Mater later on." , the brown haired suggest , not minding talking about it. For him it was like talking about the weather.

[22:01]Louis Chamberlain tried to smile but the only thing he managed to do was cringe. It was that grin-wince on the lips, he said: “Haa-aah? M-Maybe?” (There was tensed, nervous laugh.) “I don’t think it will happen but I-I’ll keep an eye out. For a, um, *mater*.” (He exhaled loudly.) “Weh! What an a-amazing discussion! I should get back to Amdapor, I guess in six moons, everything had regrown around the camp...” He focused all of his strength to get up. Which he did. Then promptly fell flat on-

[22:06]The Hawk watches Louis fall onto the ground with a thud , and there he lay face first. A gloved hand reached out towards the back of the others shirt to pull him back up and push him back onto the plush chair. "In your condition you can not return if you want to survive. Ill bring you back to the bed." Or what Alveus considered a bed , it was more a comfortable pile of many pillows and blankets. A nest almost.

[22:08]Louis Chamberlain: “I’m sorry to be a bother. I-I’ll do my best to get well and leave as soon as I can.” (A moment.) “I-I’m tired. I think I’ll nap. For a little bit. If you don’t mind…”

[22:10]The Hawk | "I dont mind. And you are no bother , no more than the other people that have stayed here beforehand." Or should he rather say the people he had kidnapped? Perhaps not. Louis was no prisoner here. So scooping the other voidsent back up into his arms he moved back to the main room with him and up the stairs.

@birkastan2018 Hi! First of all, I’m not really here on tumblr anymore, I’ve deactivated a long time ago. I wanted to chip in on this because it’s spreading like wild fire, it’s the mere reason I’ve made this account.

I admire and understand what you have been doing, I really do. There’s nothing wrong with wanting reviews and recognition from your readers. Writers deserve it through and through! It’s okay to enjoy what you do at the same time ask for feedbacks, IT’S OKAY! No to shaming writers.

Now, let’s go to a more delicate subject which is the main reason I am here now. We want to encourage readers to interact with authors, that’s it that’s the advoacy here. Now, I came to see for myself what the fuss was all about, with some intensive backreading. So what I have noticed there was a “shift,” the one thing you were trying to build destroyed itself. I don’t know if you are aware of this. Instead of encouraging silent readers, name calling happened. Words like “shame,” “selfish,” “sociopath,” “parasites,” etc., all of which lead into this = WORTHLESS. I was shocked! I thought you want readers’ involvement so why? Those were not exactly confidence booster which I think one of the things silent readers lack. I thought you were the adult one. I’ll treat you the way you treat me, yeah do that but on a different account because you are destroying the purpose of this blog by applying this principle. Again, remember your advocacy: encouraging feedback. We are bridging gaps not widening it. Do not pit them against each other. No to reader shaming.

Mental issues is a very sensitive topic which you have adressed also. This has left a bitter taste in my mouth honestly. We don’t know what is happening behind everyone, be it authors or readers. You cannot compare how one handles his/her issues to others. We were always told this during my pre-med: Every person is unique. Everyone have different experiences, coping mechanism, signs and symptoms, etc. You cannot compare how a writer handles it from a reader and vice versa. I think you’ve said something along the lines: If an author with mental issue can manage to write something, readers have no excuse. This is exactly the problem of our society and how they approach mental health. It does not work like that. Patient A and Patient B both have the same diagnosis but present different sets of signs and symptoms - this happens, I’m not gonna go technical and bore you with medical stuffs. Both are important and valid, that’s the bottomline. Yes, it could be an excuse. Don’t undermine mental health. #MentalHealthAdvocacy

I’m not here for a debate. I’ve read some of your responses, all of which have same points. (they were all long fyi you could easily condense it to one short paragraph. As someone who read thick medical books everyday, just a sight of long posts in the internet makes me puke. But here I am making one, oh the irony...ANYWAY). I am aware of the sacrifices our writers make. Yes, they deserve reaction from readers. It’s okay to feel sad if reviews are vast, its okay to seek it out. But you birk cannot simply force readers or guilt-trip them into leaving one (I haven’t seen writers guilt trip their readers, so this is on you birk, it is not good for the author community so please refrain from doing this). Isn’t it more satisfying to receive a heartfelt genuine review? I’ll choose that over thousands of guilt-tripped/pity/forced/don’t-leave/i-owe-you comments anytime of the day, it’s so fake don’t insult our writers like that. Let’s forget about statistics: Quality>Quantity.(Edit: Literally, the most reviewed naruto fic on ffnet right now is full of spam (70k), let that sink in) I am in no way encouraging silent readers to be silent readers forever. One by one they’ll come around, it may take days, weeks, months, or even years, but they will. Little by little, it may first start with a kudos, a like, a favorite, a follow, a reblog and by the time they left a review they are ready and they mean every word of it and it’s gonna be worth it. It’s very disheartening to hear, your kudos is just a slap in my face, do you think if you said those words it’s gonna make them magically leave a review? No. Instead, you’ve instilled fear and intimidation upon them, making any possible interaction from a genuine reader in the future impossible. Again, the goal is encourage readers not eat them. I know that is what you want, but your sudden deviation on a different yet same path (idk if you were influenced by someone im kinda observant that way...maybe choose your friends wisely) became a trigger for this to spun out of control. You can go back!

Lastly, the “fandom.” Everyone has their own definition of it. But what I can confidently say is that the backbone of the fandom is not you, not me, not the content creators, not the readers. It’s kishi, naruto, the anime, the manga, the characters, the ships. It’s those little canon moments. Isn’t that the reason why we create and built this fandom in the first place? We love them. I’m gonna give you a leeway for this because you’re still pretty new in the fandom. I can see how a person who had been here longer than you get mad at your sentiments. We make contents based of the canon. Many are still here because we cling on those canon moments. We take something and give it a different universe, giving rise to beautiful fan arts and fics, cosplays, conventions, dojinshi, etc. At the end of the day, we go back to those canon moments that we love. It had been so long since naruto ended, but you still see gifs, manga caps of the anime and manga, respectively, you still see analysis of moments, you still see people fighting how the story should have ended (let’s not forget the time when someone made a petition to change the ending like 🙄) or who is better. That is our backbone, our roots.

Additionally, the anon that said something like I will go down with this fandom even if I’m the only one left. I think it wasn’t at all meant to shame anyone. That’s a popular slang(?) in fandom culture: I will go down with this ship, I will go down with [insert anyone here]. That’s passion. That person love naruto and nothing will make it go away, he/she will enjoy naruto despite everything that’s a fan mentality. What do you expect some of us here have been fans since we were children, it had been a part of our lives for more than a decade.

And seriously? “Consumers”? Do it in another place, it is so inappropriate to use this in fandom culture. People are here to enjoy you make it sound so corporate, it is such a kill joy word. Maybe it’s an age thing? We’re not consumers, we are “fans.” Makes me think you see fandom superficially not capturing it’s entire essence.

Birk - do not reduce yourself to name calling, you are bigger than that. learn to see things with an open and clear mind. if you’re not gonna leave your bubble where silent readers are worthless & [insert the words you used to call them], you are not gonna get through with them. remember your goal always. Readers - your opinions and excuses matter and your self-worth can’t and shouldn’t be dictated by anyone. Writers - your’s also matter. its okay to want feedback. its okay to create patreons/kofi, ignore those who said otherwise. keep doing what you love, if passion gets too overwhelming take a breath and relax. if you want to quit doing it, it’s also okay you don’t have to keep doing if you’re unhappy anymore. self care first.

This had been said already but I wanna reiterate. Let’s not forget the real devils here: REPOSTERS, TRACERS, PLAGIARIZERS, ENTITLED PERSONS.

1. what is one of your favourite presents you’ve ever received? i think i talked abt it before but for my 18th birthday my friends payed for me to get my nose pierced. and it’s not necessarily about the gift itself, more about how it shows they listened to me saying i’ve wanted it for years and made the appointment and everything and it was just so, so thoughtful and sweet i love them

2. what is/used to be your favourite subject in school? (this may be a long answer sorry) so in both middle school and high school it was english, but for different reasons. basically at the beginning of middle school i was really bad at it so they put me in the less advanced group, and our teacher didn’t really give any fucks so those lessons were just so much chaos and fun. imagine: you walk in, i’m sat in the corner with my friends, sort of away from everyone else. we’re all turned so that we’re facing each there, someone’s got cake, the guy next to me put his legs on my lap and is ripping his textbook to pieces and eating them bc we dared him to do so. the ring is playing in the background bc the teacher wanted to watch it. we are all kicking our friend’s chair to push her into the middle of the classroom and saying she’s “going on an adventure”. it was great i LOVED it. and meanwhile i actually learned english on my own so when i went to high school they put me in a more advanced group, and the teacher (who was actually a bit scary) knew i was one of the best so she’d usually leave me alone and that meant i had a lot of time to talk to my friend. it was also the only subject i was good at so it meant i didn’t stress too much abt it

3. is there any quote that inspires you? why? not really, i’m not really a quote person. nor do i get inspired lmao

4. what is the most important part of a song? the lyrics? the melody? the rhythm? all of it matters! i do pay a huuge attention to lyrics but then there’s songs that i think are really quite silly but they have nice rhythm and i still listen to them bc they’re just fun

5. is there any childhood dream you had to give up? hooo boy we’re getting real here. i’ll try to make this short: since i was about 9-10 i wanted to be a vet. but in middle school when i started learning biology i realised i was really bad at it. my mental health was at a horribly low point then, i had no fucking motivation (and i mean that. i was failing classes, multiple ones, cause i just couldn’t focus or bring myself to study). and i knew i couldn’t go to high school and take advanced biology classes - which i would need in order to get to uni to study veterinary - i didn’t have enough motivation and there was no way i could’ve managed it so i just… gave up on that. and don’t get me wrong it’s still sth i wish i could do. realistically if i got myself together it’s quite possible. but i don’t think it’s ever gonna happen and yeah that shit hurts and i look back and think “if only things that happened to me hadn’t happened, if i weren’t depressed” etc but i got other passions too so it’s not the end of the world. i’m going to start studying psychology in two months which i’m really excited abt. i’ll be good

6. do you have siblings? how is your relationship with them? i have two younger sisters. one is 15 going on 16 and it’s a bit complicated. we’re not extremely close and she gets on my nerves a lot, but then bc of some things that happened i have this intense need to protect her. idk i dont wanna get into it but basically i fear she’s gonna grow up to be just as fucked as i am and that breaks my heart. on a happier note we bond over anime, which our middle sister (17 y/o) hates. and with her i have a definitely closer relationship, perhaps bc of the smaller age gap or bc we share more interests. overall tho i love them both, i know i can rely on them, that they’ll keep my secrets, and i think they’re both great girls (fun fact they both got tumblr but neither of them wants to tell me her url)

7. are you afraid of any animals? nope but i’m not a fan of any insects. they can be around me but i hate it if they touch me, that just freaks me out

8. do you wanna move to another city/country? if yes, which? i used to, now i’m not so sure. but i would love to live somewhere where’s it’s always warm. i fucking hate winter i hate the whole “staying home bundled up in blankets” thing, it’s boring and it’s not even realistic bc you have to go out and then you freeze your ass of. fuck that

9. do you believe art can change the world? not really. it can inspire and influence people but it’s their actions that will change the world

10. the first fictional character you fell in love with? i’m 98% sure it was bohun and that honestly just explains so much when it comes to the type of men i like, both in terms of looks and character. honestly i could never figure out why people with blood on their faces were such a turn on for me and then i rewatched ogniem i mieczem recently, this scene came on

11. are you afraid of death? this is gonna sound so edgy but i was on a plane recently and i dont remember why but for a second i thought we may be having a problem and i didn’t even react. i kind of just sat there thinking that i dont want all these people to die but i really fucking wish we’d crush bc i just don’t wanna deal with anything anymore. and i’m saying that cause i used to claim i wasn’t afraid to die but then i’d get scared if i were in a situation where something could happen, but now i dont, so i guess i’m really not scared of death anymore
