Draco sat on the swing, clutching his tiny fists in his lap as he looked over at the little boy building sand castles not so far from where he was sitting. The blond boy tilted his head slightly, eyeing the other boy with interest. The boy looked up and saw him. He grinned, making the slight gap between his front teeth visible. Draco blinked nervously.

“Hi! Are you just going to sit there on the swing the whole time?”

Draco looked at his feet.

“Hello”, he murmured. “I don’t know.”

The boy in the sand pushed his small black glasses further up his nose, full of freckles and wrinkled as he smiled even wider. Draco tried smiling a bit too. The other boy had very green eyes. Draco didn’t know anyone else with that green eyes.

“You can play with me if you want to! I have no one else, I have my cousin of course but he isn’t back yet, he’s with my aunt picking which ice-cream he wants to have.”

Draco blinked again. He suddenly felt a bit happier than before, and he didn’t know why. But also very nervous.

“My mum is here soon”, Draco said quietly. “She just left me here for a short while going to find my father.”

“Okay”, the other boy said, shaking the sand from his hair before grinning again. “Are you coming? I need help with the sand castle. Can you build good sand castles?”
