Toph!

I was just talking about Toph in a server a couple of days ago, and I feel like people mischaracterize her a lot, but I kinda don't blame them! Toph is kind of a tricky character to write! But I read so many fics that just boil her down to "tough girl who doesn't take shit and bullies everyone" and like, yes, there is some truth to that, but she is also so much more! She's soft, she listens, she's genuinely a kind, good friend, despite her rough demeanor! There's a reason Sokka opens up for the first time about his mother with Toph.

Azula!

I adore Azula to bits, I love her, I want to see her get better and get another chance, but man, I hate how people lately have been woobifying the crap out of her lately (this happens to Iroh and Zuko too!!). I seen an argument on TikTok that Azula had a right to mortally wound Aang because it was SELF DEFENSE?! I thought OP was joking, but uh, nope, they were completely serious haha. You can't say you love 'problematic' characters only to try and make them 'unproblematic' as possible!

I noticed that there's some people that hate Aang with a passion, so much so, that they'll try to paint him out as this sexist, abusive person/partner/father, and it bugs the hell out of me. Kind of makes me laugh a little too, seeing how powerful the haterism is towards this fictional 12 year old boy. This discourse especially gets worse when TLOK gets thrown into the mix and people try to paint him as a 'deadbeat' father, and some even try to compare him to Ozai?? It grosses me out, and the 'deadbeat' part is far from the truth! Words have meaning and weight to them, people!

Had to throw my fav in here of course. Here's the thing, people will either characterize Sokka as being nothing more than a dumb jokester, or they'll acknowledge that he's smart, but completely forget that he's incredibly grump, sarcastic, and skeptical which can lead him to be borderline cynical, especially in S1! There's also the whole "Sokka didn't really love his mom" discourse and, not to sound dramatic, but it makes me want to rip my hair out LMAO. I personally think that Sokka is one of the most interesting characters in ATLA and it kinda sucks seeing people gloss over him so much.

URSA!

Now this might be my most controversial take lmao. Before I start, I'm not saying Ursa was a perfect parent, and I wont be talking about the comics in this part, just strictly the show. But at this point, I almost feel like an Ursa defender because people greatly misinterpret her character and try to paint her to be just as bad as Ozai, especially when Azula is thrown into the mix. I'm sorry y'all, but I don't agree with the "Ursa was a 'boy' mom and favorited Zuko and abused Azula" takes. I don't think this was the case at all, and her relationship with Azula is so much more complex than that. People tend to forget that A) This was all Ozai's doing, he saw Azula as a weapon and put a wedge between her and the rest of her family (specifically Zuko and Ursa) and B) Ursa was also abused. She was an abused woman, trapped in a horrible situation, and wasn't left with a lot of great options or freedom.

i absolutely agree with your opinion about soobin, this is one of the things that I thought about but couldn’t articulate it. in my opinion he is quite mature and he is the leader of the group which makes him mature even more, but it seems like that is enough for him? like, on the one hand, it’s not that he’s not mature for a relationship, but rather he’s just not ready to take responsibility yet. + he said that he is not the kind of person who would lead a relationship or plan something and therefore would just agree with everything that his girlfriend wants, but this is also literally an abdication of responsibility to some extent. so, in my opinion, he either doesn’t want to take on extra responsibility because he’s tired of responsibility at work, or he’s not ready for it due to his young age, or he’s just that kind of person (but actually i think it affects everything together and may change with age, like i don’t think that he will be a person who will become a super leader in a relationship, but at least he will be okay with the responsibility that comes with the appearance of a relationship)

yeonjun yes and beomgyu absolutely yes. if he has a fight with his partner and the partner says something offensive to him, they won’t get away with just an apology, and for some reason i think that if it really hurt him, he would remember it every time in all next fights. and also sometimes he likes to do something like checks? like that time when he blocked taehyun to see if he would come to wish him a happy birthday

speaking of kai, i understood what you mean and this is really true, but it is in him that it manifests itself as not being so burdensome for other people? like i mean my work in korea was partly related to this area and i could see and sometimes communicate with different musicians/actors/dancers and other media personas and one of the most surprising things is when you look at them you think “wow this person is so cool, they are beautiful, they are smart, they are interesting personas, they have good singing/dancing/whatever skills” but when communicating with these people, most of them have very low self-esteem but they don’t seem to focus on it. i don’t know how to explain this more correctly, but it’s like the difference between people who due to low self-esteem really pull people around them to the bottom and people for whom it’s like something background that you might not even recognize right away. but idk whatever i hope kai can handle with this and it seems he has already changed for the better

when i was smoking enough for a circle and then playing whatever videogame was in my ps for 20 hours a day, i can say that it did nothing but make me hungry, my attention span elongated, and my anxiety non-existent. i wasn't interested in fucking, i was mostly into wasting away while naked. it didn't do much (that i can remember) for my sense of touch.

i do know that when i did fuck while high, it wasn't a remarkable experience because i don't remember any of it. nor did it make me horny or add to the sensation. those kinds of effects were from an entirely different drug that i did that i dont feel like putting the trigger warnings for so i wont talk about it

pot is definitely good for mellowing out, chilling, and fucking really casual. and i mean really casual. that's my experience with it anyway i have no idea if its diff for other ppl, im sure ppl who arent demisexual and have higher sex drives than me can say different who knows.

for anakin, i can see him smoking and fucking. definitely. in very specific circumstances. let me lay those out for you:

he smokes very occasionally for spirituality reasons. he does it respectfully, with great care. a big stickler about it. he wants to emphasize to himself it's not for recreational or social reasons. the jedi discourage drugs that cloud your judgment. marijuana is frowned upon to rely on for things like calming yourself or meditating because you should be able to do that alone. however, it's not frowned upon to partake in it every once in a while. it's all about new experiences and as long as you treat it with respect, it's alright. anakin treats it with the utmost respect.

he does not care to be under the influence of something. being high or drunk is a very rare form for him indeed. he gets very uncomfortable when on something, and especially uncomfortable being reliant on something, so when he is smoking he does it alone most of the time. he does not like being disillusioned, and he certainly does not like the idea of someone's no-nonsense idea of him being shattered.

he's led a ceremony with younger people of the order. taught them how to partake, how to roll, how to use it mindfully. and if someone is having a negative first experience, they had too much or it does not agree with them and it gets into their heads, he knows how to calm them.

when he smokes with you, it might be a rare moment of rebellion. a "i'm an adult, i can smoke a little weed." moment. and even with that notion, his darkness may catch up to him. the guilt of using it under different circumstances than usual may put him in a bad place, memories he pushes back into the reaches of his mind creep up. his past with tatooine, the tusken massacre, etc. he gets paranoid, those doubts you couldn't love a monster like him get the better of him. it gets in his way. and you're there to lead him back to the present. like op said, "you look like heaven" he'd hone in on you. tunnel vision.

anakin's way of calming himself is often self pleasure. and so since youre here, and willing and able, he might use you to guide him back to the present in a more physical way. he can't think if he's inside you, all he can do is chase his orgasm. he's tingly, he's got those nerves in the pit of his stomach, he's trying to ground himself using you and at the same time fuck you out of this world. however, with marijuana you're both slowed, and clumsy. the love-making wouldn't be coherent, or poised, but it'd be enjoyable. less concerned about what you must look like, and more cuddly. more shallow thrusts, and humping ruts, and sloppy kisses and no dialogue.

General headcanons:

- first impressions: I think most ppl would be intimidated by mick when they first meet him. He’s all black hair, black clothes and piercing blue eyes so they automatically think he’s going to be mean as hell. unfortunately, because mick can be shy and awkward when meeting people for the first time, he actually lives up to his title. it takes a more understanding and unbiased person to really crack that shell he loves using as a shield. that’s where you’d come in. sure, when you first meet mick, you do feel a bit intimidated. it might be the way he glares at you with those eyes (you later learn that his eyes are just extremely sensitive to light and he wasn’t actually glaring), or his demeanour; quiet and closed off. still, you can’t help but feel drawn to him. you can tell he’s not as serious as he pretends to be. he just has the kind of vibe of a chill person, someone who avoids drama at all costs. you happen to make a joke that he can’t help but laugh at, and that’s where the mask comes off and he slowly starts to warm up to you. he’d like a good humoured person who doesn’t take themselves as seriously. also you soon learn that he’s actually a lot louder than he seems, he’s only real loud and rowdy when with people he’s comfortable with.

-gift giver: a blog I used to be obsessed with used to talk about how they were sure micks love language was gift giving and it made me think about how he’d give you the most beautiful gifts just because they made him think of you when he saw them. like you would never go out of your way to ask him for anything…probably because you don’t want to seem like you’re using him or whatever. doesn’t matter to mick though, because he’ll buy things without you even knowing (like yall could be in the same store and he’ll buy you something behind your back just cause he knows you’ll like it). it might get to the point where you have to tell him to stop giving you things cause you feel bad, but he’d just tell you you deserve it and not to worry about it.

ok now I’ve run out of ideas (I told yall I’m not good at this!!) so let’s just get into my streamer au real quick:

- I like to act like mick would have a set schedule for his streams but another part of me thinks he’d start streaming at like 3 in the morning just to play whatever game he wanted to

- he’s the type to ban someone for simply saying something he doesn’t like (guitxrherx: pineapples on pizza is actually good yall just haters!!! “yeah mods can you ban that guy for ten minutes please?”)

- also, the rotty streams really came out of nowhere. one day he was just hella wasted and for some reason turned on the camera and started streaming him just fucking around on his guitar (sounding real sloppy btw) and everyone was so confused, but also intrigued (“wait is bro wasted?”). he wouldn’t have remembered it if his audience didn’t pester him to do it again, thus starting the tradition. then it just evolved to him doing whatever came to his mind first (one time he sprayed fourteen layers of hairspray into his hair and had to get nikki to help him wash it out)

-nikki is like the first person mick calls in the middle of a stream. sometimes, if they’re both streaming at the same time, mick will call nikki to try to derail his stream. nikki could be doing an impromptu music review and all of a sudden his phones ringing and it’s the old man trying to act all innocent like he’s not trying to ruin nikkis stream. of course nikki would go along with it at first, trying to humour mick but then he’d realize he’s got a whole bunch of ppl in the chat making fun of him for letting the old man get to him for like the fifth time that week.

- also ok this is so silly but im just imagining mick trying to play dress to impress but he like never places on the podium and throws a little fit about it lmaooo. he’d complain that all the winners chose basic outfits (as if his isn’t also a bit basic) and then his chat would just cook him about how terrible he’s doing.

- adding onto the last one: imagine if vince was in the same server as him and kept placing first and mick didn’t know who it was. he keeps insulting him, but he’s under the guise that it’s a 12 year old girl so he can’t be entirely ruthless. somehow (maybe vince is also streaming that day) chat gets ahold that it’s vince and they start spamming mick about it. he takes a second to look at all the messages and starts dying of laughter.

CONCLUSIONS! lived up to the hype! i think it's a bit 13-era vibe in that it's clearly influenced by all the prestige space-base-isolation scifi we see in the ~cinema now every year. the aesthetic is hitting that vibe (and going to the root, there's also a very clear Alien influence). kinda wish we had more one offs just like this one :( bc i feel the other 2 specials have too much Work to do, so there's not enough time to do.Fun like lore and character stuff. as for IRL queer muslims well,, tbqh im not sure. personally i got sorta lucky. i grew up in africa as well and my two closest friends at the time both came out to me as bi before i started questioning my sexuality. beyond that, there were two cishet guys who,, didnt always say the right things and i dont think they wouldve understood my gender but they *did* hype me up when i told them i was gay and they told me they knew others like me. i also have an aunt and uncle who, although ive yet to speak to them about this, liked the facebook page for my countrys queer rights activism group (which i was pleasantly surprised existed), so im *reasonably* sure theyre chill

So to give to a little context first. I have a friend whom I met from my old online school. We have a enemies dynamic. We've each other for 2 years now. When we first met I was the one who talked the most, which he used to see as "annoying". Ever since I left the online school and became busy with my new irl school, I started messaging him less and when I do, he acts more and more nicer and chill than before. To the point he stared flirting with me but I always brushed it off as I also flirt with everybody. Did I forget to mention we are the complete opposite of each other. He's extremely introverted online while I'm literally just putting out my phone number for everyone to see. how do you make friends while being autistic? im good at making initial introductions (if we both are neurodivergent or have similar personalities) but i'm bad at everything else. I feel like I'm too intense or text too much, or take too long to reply.

oh thats a tough question but a good one. my closest friends have been with me since elementary school so i dont quite remember but for new friends i try to talk about things we have in common, like school, interests, etc. the hard part is actually getting to know the person and the effort it takes. i understand the worry about how your interpreted, a good rule is to initiate every two days or so, and make sure theyre initiating conversation too. if they arent texting you first and its always you texting first, that may be a bad sign. i also take way too long to reply, i got a text 3 days ago and have forgotten to respond but shes usually chill when i do that. people are way more chill than you think, so dont worry about taking too long to text back. truly nice people wont think youre disinterested in them. some things that are good for initiating convos w ppl youve already met are your shared interests, animal photos, if youre on instagram you could share funny/cute reels, etc. i personally love when people are intense, but if youre self concious about that, some ways to pull it back are use less exclamation points (so hard to do), and say several things in one text so they arent bombarded by several notifs. i text paragraphs to everybody i might as well start signing them love elise. i hope any of my advice helps, the only reason i have friends is because we are all neurodivergent weird kids from the same town. since im in college now making new friends is so fucking hard but some ppl are cool. good luck from one autist to another we can do this

as for why louis never healed daniel’s bite mark i took it as him also wanting to leave daniel with a marker of the horror he encountered, the creature that is The Vampire™️ is. how much recollection could a seriously intoxicated 20 year old possess otherwise, but u cant forget when a reminder of the vampire was embedded into daniel’s flesh. it is undeniable physical proof. but i feel armand too would be much in agreement with that, seeing no reason to heal daniel’s bitemark. bc part of what makes daniel appealing to armand is the fact that he is so painfully mortal. turning daniel had serious repercussions for the dynamic of their relationship [& in showverse, could very well be a taboo to the vampire g code as i jokingly dub it. ur not supposed to give the dark gift to ppl who r ‘crippled’ & someone who ‘cannot survive on their own’ n i wonder if daniel dying of a neurodegenerative disease would be included in any of these qualifiers to vampires? certainly adds to why armand was appalled here. we already outcasts in vampiredom bae, chill—]

& do recall lestat bit louis when he was human, and the bite mark lingered bc lestat wanted louis to remember him and vampires do drink off eachother [even in showverse u have louis drinking from armand]. i think leaving the mark does suggest a sort of purpose/flair to a vampire’s art. & idt theres anything too transparently contradictory to how louis remembers the hatesex scene in ep6? do recall lestat was badgering louis for 6 years, trying to reenter his life after beating him, and lestat put antoinette on their song bc he knew that it would rile louis up. its hilarious that hes like 6 years & u think a songs gone get a rise out of me? tryna sell it that hes not unaffected but he is extremely affected. he hated lestat and yet still loved him enough to go wade thru a filthy body of water & ride his dck. one of my mutuals said 2022 iwtv sells like a vaudeville act but lestat is the ‘straight man’ in louis narrrative and this is definitely one of those moments where that shows. i think lestat left the marks louis left on his body [& the fact that claudia is there to see them attests to their viability?] so he could re enter louis & claudia’s lives by selling his vulnerability, alluding to the violation that was his turning. see, i was at least nice enough to make an honest woman out of u, back in my day, vampires would lock u in shitholes w ur dying lookalikes& make u—

Cass I have yet to meet your ocs but they sound incredibly valid sometimes that happens and when it does it is better to have the courage to accept that you've just got new characters on your hands instead of denying it until your dying day.

im still drafting everything out but i can give quick intro stuff for the guys i have some old art for (i technically began drafting this story in like 2019 but then The Jojoing occurred so i literally havent thought of them at all in the past 3 years until the past couple of months i've been able to devote Some brain power to them (just some))

we got the main character ai (wipe name but i might keep it as it is actually everyday i warm up to it more):

she's blind as u can see in her right eye. this happened when she was young though so despite this she is a veyr skilled swordswoman. in the same raid that blinded her, she and her mother lost sight of her brother, qiu (wip name). ai wanted to look for him but her mother, after already losing ai and qiu's father in the same incident, just grabbed her daughter and ran. ai never really forgives her for this and she's very bitter and upset about everything. when she grows up she joins the military so that she has a means by which to travel -- she doesnt really care about fighting or national identity, she just wants to find her brother, and she gets paid to do it this way, so....

ai is. a bit of a dick. she has a short temper and a big attitude and it's hard for her to get close to ppl (not that she like actively tries to avoid it but she just is hard to get along with LOL). she's jsut very narrowminded on finding her brother. despite this she doesnt want anyone hurt esp not kids so she does protect in comrades which is probs the only reason she hasn't been kicked out of the army for insubordination LOL

this is qiu. what happened to him during the raid is he lost his leg essentially but a dragon nearby heard the commotion going on and when she came to check it out, saw qiu being cornered by a solider and so she killed the soldier, cauterized his leg wound, and carried him to her cave to care for (dragons are sentient in this universe btw). qiu was very young at the time (like 7) and now newly traumatized and the dragons dont like humans as a general rule anyway so allll that combined made him honestly very nervous to return to human society so he asked if he could just stay with her and she was like aw. yeah sure. so he's basically just learning magic with his dragon sibs (mama dragon had some hatchlings) and chilling. lol. he's a bit blunt cause he doesnt know shit about social norms at all. he's a good student. he's very friendly. he's not really naive he just vibes is all. very relaxed

this is adalia, ai's unofficial protege. she's technically not in the army yet but she is training to be a soldier and she looks up to ai a lot. she's very young and very silly. she has a big fat crush on the princess. she kills a man at a pivotal point in the story

this is arha! she is a solider as well but there's a twist that im not revealing yet to it. she's very smart and gets a lot of her kicks by being contrarian and basically she's kakyoin. LOL. she hasnt really made friends with people until ai/adalia/william and it's smth she's still learning abt how to handle (maintaining a relationship that is). she and ai meet and fall into a homosexual in nature dynamic and arha is both veyr frustrated cause ai is so impulsive and very enamored cause ai cares so deeply and just god she has never seen someone wear their heart on their sleeve and yet be so angry about it. she wants to study ai on a lab table

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST....I DONT HAVE ART OF HIM...WAHH...but william is basically ai's commanding officer. he is the oldest but also the most naive of the group funnily enough. he's competent enough to be a decent rank in the military but too kind to be high ranking. he's not really a father figure but he does come to be family to ai. smiles
