Marius is such an effective villain, in my opinion, because he portrays himself as such a saint. Meeting him, one would never assume he's done the things he has. He explains away every terrible act by convincing himself it's for the greater good. He's incredibly polite and hospitable. He seems like a genuine, nice guy to most.

I think this is extremely prevalent regarding his relationship with Armand throughout the series.

He manipulates Daniel into staying in his care to get him away from Armand, but says he's doing so because Daniel "needs him."

He turns both of Armands human companions to make Armand more dependent on him, but says he did so because "Armand secretly wanted it, but was too scared to act on his want."

(Doesn't seem like a guy who wanted his friends turned to me.)

Not to mention, he groomed Armand into being his perfect vampire bride. I mean, this guy's terrifying.

Before I watched iwtv I thought Daniel and armand was a actual thing. And so when I saw armand and Louis be together I thought "oh that old man is gonna be a homewrecker this season he's gonna make armand cheat on his husband" but no.
