woof, my friend. There are...a lot. I actually actively try to stay away from the majority of the discourse, as it's exhausting and generally incredibly short on nuance. But in the spirit of the question, I'll list some random takes I've seen over the years and general counterarguments I have for them (otherwise known as, "I will fight myself in a paper bag and possibly not win but will also include something vaguely humorous at the end because I don't take myself that seriously").

Star Wars

Anakin is a poor, misunderstood, meow-meow

Anakin is a character with a megaton of trauma due to his upbringing. Anakin's ultimate fate was a complicated confluence of bad decisions on the part of the Jedi Council and Qui-gon, bad intentions gone worse with Palpatine, good intentions gone bad with Obi-wan, and bad actions on Anakin's part. Anakin was a victim, but he also made some piss-poor decisions that didn't help his cause.

Dooku is secretly a good guy

No, he's not. He sold his soul to the devil, willingly, thinking he could come out on top of that deal. He knew exactly what he was giving up and what ideals he was betraying to become what he was. Dooku cares, and it's that personality trait that - in my mind - ultimately buries him, but let's not mince words about the countless atrocities he's committed across the galaxy. He's probably one of the most complicated characters in the franchise, and I love him for it.

SMB

Luigi is constantly paralyzed by anxiety and can't function if his brother isn't within sight.

Agh, this bugs me and was one of the criticisms I had of the recent SMB movie. Luigi has his issues, yes, but he can get along just fine on his own, as shown in numerous games and the '90s cartoons. Quite frankly, part of the issue is that he's seen as an extension of his brother, who can have an overbearing personality at times, and Luigi hasn't had as much time to establish his own identity (which, heh, plays into so many interesting ideas as they relate to SPM and that whole debacle). He may be lost as to who he is, but he's not a total pushover.

What’s up with how the dunmeshi fandom just lies about this kind of stuff all the time. It is easily confirmable information that it was a monthly series, something incredibly common in the industry.

A not weekly magazine schedule is literally common !! Especially in the seinen shoujo and josei demographics, sometimes monthly, sometimes biweekly, sometimes every two months, sometimes seasonal! Please stop lying about how Dunmeshi was some special unique creation that defies all standards of manga just to hype it up because it is so clear that every single one of these comparisons is centered around Weekly Shonen Jump (and understand that SJ has many magazines under its brand that are monthly or semimonthly). Not everything is WSJ and it needs to stop being the only point of reference in conversations like this 🤧
