sometimes the portrayals are really good!! but i hate that often, people portray him either as a moody brat or a weak baby. he is canonically a good fighter, especially after the fire, though he doesn’t like to. hes a loner, hes a reader, hes a pacifist, hes a good kid.

you have to remember that the outsiders is literally written in HIS POINT OF VIEW!!! ofc yes he’s a sassy and snarky teenager but he is also so intelligent and smart. hes a loner, but the gang would never shun his company. he has so much depth that a lot of writers often forget. hes a 14 year old kid with thoughts of a adult and can only do so much. thats what makes the outsiders so relatable to alot of people. its his intelligence that makes him and darry argue, because of how darry sees himself in ponyboy

but also on the other side of the coin ponyboy is a fragile character after the events of the book, because he is 14!!! but he has thoughts!!

i feel like people forget his good traits and only focus on the bad (and oh my goodness does this count for darry too!)

sorry for my rambles i just love his character so much :-(

besides fanfiction.net and like 30% of the fics on ao3 hes actually a solid portrayal most of the time, but tons of people forget that his relationship with ponyboy wasnt actually that batshit awful. sure theyd butt heads alot and go back and forth but they love each other thats why they did that. hes so much more than just an angry man who happens to be ponyboys brother.

hes a man who peaked in high school (IM KIDDING) and lost it all not because of his brothers but because of his parents. there was probably some strong resentment there for a while until they died. darrys problem or flaw is that he cares too much and his fear turns to anger. its love for sodapop and ponyboy that brings him back when he realizes his anger is doing more bad than good for his little brothers. It’s opening up and allowing his brothers in that helps his character.

that being said, people often focus more on his bad traits than his good traits. its a running theme in the outsiders fandom, i’ve noticed

At first you were hesitant to join in on the lair games your older brothers had created, but after lots of begging and pleading (and puppy eyes from Mikey), you finally agreed to join.

And you were destroying them!

“Oh come on!” Leo threw his hands up in the air and groaned due to you having beaten him in the shell bowling game, managing to beat him by 1 maniquin.

"And that means I won. Mic drop!!" You celebrated.

"Yes, yes," Donnie walked out of the makeshift hospital room he was in after Leo purposefully accidentally broke his ankle. "You have won. This game." He looked at you with such an evil stare you swore you could see satan taking over his soul. “However, you all seem to have forgotten the last, most important game."

The last game? There was more? Oh well. You knew that whatever it was, you could defeat them, just like you’ve done with every other game.

“Give me your worst.” You said with a confident smile.

All four brothers turned to look at you with devious grins. What were those big guys thinking of…

“If you say so,” Leo responded with a shrug.

Before you could question their stare, all four of them jumped towards you and yelled “TICKLE FIGHT !!!”

Before you could react any further, Raph held you down (due to being the biggest and strongest) whilst the three others instantly began their attack.

"Wh- WAHAHAHAIT!!" You screamed as Leo focused on tickling your exposed armpits, Donnie attacked your poor stomach and Mikey was repeatedly squeezing your thighs.

You desperately thrashed around, which was difficult considering you were pinned down by pretty much all four of your brothers.

"What? You said to give you our worst." Leo grinned, re calling what you had said earlier.

"And besides, you're the easiest one to defeat, you little tickle bug!" Mikey teased with a huge smile on his face.

And that was true...

You had always been the victim of tickle fights due to being the most ticklish. The second there was a tickle fight around, everyone would stare at you.

Raph chuckled. "All you have to do is wave that white flag, (y/n)."

No way. You were going to win this, no matter what.

Heck, its actually a hard task to explain what Durarara is about but I loved it so much I could talk about it all day. It has many plots, many absolutely great characters (i love you Shinra) and just lovely way of telling the stories of the individuals. Yes, it has gangs and they play big part of it but it is mostly focused on daily life and struggles of people in Ikebukuro. Also I recently came to the conclusion that the main theme of Durarara is the concept of love in many aspects and forms. Even those brutal and very weird ones (Izaya’s love for humans which causes him to play with their lifes and observe them like little animals, Shinra’s unconditional and a bit obsessive but sincere and geniuene love for a headless woman or a parasite sword that cuts people for love and thats only the beginning of examples)

- I belive Izaya would be involved in both CCG and ghoul organisations. He is the information broker without any picked sides so If he was payed enough or he could have some personal benefits for that he could pretty much sell anyone at this point. Also both sides would despise him, fear him and respect him. He is known for his twisted way of morality and being unpredictable. I would absolutely love it If Shiro Kaneki gathered info from him about, for example, Aogiri Tree, Dr Kanou or Ghoul Restaurant.
