MORE ST5 LEAKS AND INFORMATION (AFTER FEBRUARY)

Hey... I’m back. Recently my ST5 leaks from May blew up on Twitter, so I figured I could put all of my Asks here. There are unreleased photos of the characters and set available in the ENG Minou server, but they will posted on Tumblr and Twitter in a separate post to make it easier to access. In the meantime I hope this interests you, too.

I saw an account on Twitter posting a leaked photo with the synpsis of the first episode of ST5. It said “Chapter One: The Crawl. Hawkins is under quarantine after the Upside Down events. Our heroes hide from the government, still plotting a capture, when an unexpected event destabilizes the team. Steve and Robin take over the new radio station, buzzing with odd mysteries, as a new face shows up in town.”

the bar “leak” about will talking to a young, caucasian guy with a mustache… is that legit? i’m cringing just thinking about it, but the milevens seem to be very happy and are taking this as a win, so.

I can confirm there is a character who talks to Will at the bar. There is no stable answer for the gender and appearance of the character, last time I checked. This leak is old and only based on residents and staff near the area of filming, who caught glimpses of the scene.

There is a kissing scene between Mike and Eleven. It is NOT on the baseball/softball field, it is on a field near the radio station. People blew it out of proportion, but it was confirmed as being real around the same time that my original May leaks were gathered, and is still true as of January.

It looks like I’m an exception here because I care more about the plot and family dynamics than ships. Do you know anything about what’s going on with Henry/Linda’s character/ upside down flashbacks ?

Henry is using new methods of sensory and mental illusion to keep track of his victims. No more of what we saw in ST4, and music does not work as it usually would. Key words to keep in mind: flashbacks, « false flashbacks », visions, beliefs, and control. For some characters there is a larger tilt toward one of these 5. For most of the season he is pursuing Holly by pretending to be a new, troubled resident of Hawkins and requiring her assistance. He causes the death of Ted in front of her. Derek, Erica and Karen join the investigation into these interactions and Holly's disappearance. Will begins to be pursued when Mike, Dustin and Lucas start a separate investigation. It is as if he is a child again, and the only reason we know it is a false flashback is because it blends with reality. This is especially true for a tree Will falls from: visually, it switches. Henry becomes more attached to the real world the longer that the Upside Down remains exposed to Hawkins, and the longer that he pursues residents. There are multiple sicknesses and attacks from the Upside Down. After a certain point he fully reveals himself as Vecna and kills the majority of the military team who were maintaining the quarantine zone of Hawkins and stunting the main cast.

It's a sad conversation, but also positive. Maybe bittersweet is the word. It was based on a loss or something similar that impacted both characters, but more Mike, and he makes a sarcastic or joking comment to Hopper about having hope and confidence in something related to it.

Do you know if the whole Holly is the Cleric Mike was talking about thing is true, and if Mike+Will+Holly spend time together?

The figure theories are correct, Mike was referring to a Dungeons and Dragons character meant to represent and protect Holly. That name and quote were taken directly from the graphic database, meaning that, if they were approved by the Duffer brothers and additional crew, they would have been featured together in promotional material and goods for VOL 1 October and November releases.

The military filming was in the general area, not that set specifically. Security was too tight for anybody to have seen what went on in the desert (« red rock »). It wasn't a secret, it was just located in the forest near WSQK and they did not want to test their luck. I agree with the paparazzi and locals in it being either a flashback or Upside Down-related shoot.

Do you have any leaks about the older teenagers/young adults (Nancy, Jonathan, Steve Robin)? I heard Robin and Steve are running the radio station or something like that but that's it.

Steve does not pursue Nancy. Nancy and Jonathan continue to date. Dustin is independent from Steve and Robin for the first half of ST5 as far as we guess, spending most of that time with Mike, Will and Lucas in their investigation. Robin is the main host of WSQK 94.5 FM: The Squawk. There are two 97P25J3 company vehicle models that they use and transport between sets, and in universe the older teens enter the Upside Down through them or are part of the plan in doing so. Specifically Jonathan and Steve with Dustin joining them. The Turnbow family of Realtors own multiple pieces of land in Hawkins, including the WSQK radio station and tower. There is a character who seeks temporary refuge in the WSQK radio station. The equipment in the WSQK radio station and vehicle is used to intercept Hawkins Laboratory and government communication, but they are unaware that it was detected and tracked to their location. This equipment is also considered for use in sharing pieces of information between the Upside Down and the real world. The WSQK radio station is raided.

Ok so I'm probably way off here but I think they may use time travel not to change timelines but to discover things they need to know ie somehow going back and watching wills vanishing for example. Or vecna actually taking them back through memories? Yeah I'm so wrong right

The Upside Down is an alternative reality that captures a moment from time and preserves it, because there are little to no things present to disrupt how things were in that moment. Specifically humans and their fragments in the environment. Think how our own reality works. Everything is linear. Things happen because we as humans cause them to happen. This is exactly what the Upside Down is, the only difference being there wasn't any humans to cause things to happen, until Will Byers was sent. Therefore is not possible to change that alternate reality in a way that resets time. If you can't do it here, you can't do it there. Vecna is not the exception to this. He does not cause any sort of time travelling, he is only giving characters that feeling through flashbacks, visions, nightmares and whatnot. It's not something they are controlling or wanting to do to try and win, it's something that is forced onto them to try and weaken their personhood. This is his new method.

Close to or more than the amount in Season 3 if you count the Flayed. However most of these deaths we see are people part of the government and local community. Ted dies near the beginning and there is a fake but impactful death plot near the end of ST5. The potential of Max, Will, Holly and Karen dying is brought up frequently, as well as a character that experiences an attack on their midsection, but this is a minor issue in the plot and they heal.

Because in the play Henry went to dimension x and his blood changed in the play due to particle exposure. And I feel they could use this to explain wills time there with the blood change in the series. It's meant to link to the use of powers from the particles changing their blood. The VR game has a lot more similarities to ST5 than the play. However neither of them are compulsory to experience for understanding the plot.

While there is a new laboratory and the INDIGO subprogram of MKUltra is still continuing in ST5, it's not to the same scale as previous seasons and it is not in the same manner as the Rainbow Room. I highly suggest looking at the first PDF leak for graphics, because there is a full map of Hawkins: what I can tell you is that the laboratory may or may not be in the path of the UD cracks and tunnels.

Death, Revelations, & Jail

A/N: This one might end up being just a tad longer than the last 3 chapters :3 ALSO I FINALLY FINISHED EPISODE 3 😭 IM SORRY IT TOOK FOREVER, HENRY BEING PATHETIC WAS FUNNY 😭😭

At the funeral, Violet stood with Kathleen and Billy per Joseph's final request. His reasoning had been that he wanted her there instead of Antrim because of how caring she was compared to his step-father. Violet was touched by him asking for her to be there in his final moments.

Violet had one hand on Kathleen's back, rubbing her back as she and Billy sprinkled dirt on Joe's body, holding back her own tears. She didn't know why, but she just wanted to bawl her eyes out. He had been a sweetheart in the short time she had known him and had prayed for him to recover.

Billy and Kathleen didn't deserve this; they were too good of people to have lost Joseph. If Violet could bring back Joe, she would even go as far as ask God to take her abuser and ex-friend.

'If anyone deserves to be in the ground it's that fucking-'

Violet's thoughts were interrupted, hearing a familiar voice. Her heart dropped, and she suddenly felt lightheaded.

She slowly turned to face him. What was he of all people doing here?

As Violet watched the short argument between Kathleen and Henry, the pieces began to make sense. Henry was Billy's step-father and Violet's abuser. She felt hot tears fill in her eyes, but not of sadness, oh no. Of anger. Hatred, even. He was here hurting two more people while his victim was here in front of him and he had the fucking nerve to pretend everything was fine between the two of them and ignore her? Violet balled her fists, glaring at Henry, and scrunched her nose up in disgust at the blonde bastard.

"You really think that Joseph would want you at his burial? He asked me to be here instead of you because he felt more loved by someone he just met instead of his own stepfather that he's known for the past 6 years?" She spat, her chest heaving up and down, as she felt her heart speed up. Henry paled, looking at Violet.

If he didn't remember her before she spoke, he sure as hell remembered her now. Kathleen and Billy looked between Henry and Violet, seeing the tears of rage roll down on Violet's cheeks.

"Violet- what are you doin' here?" A simple question, how pathetic was he? To ask how she was while she was recovering from the damage he caused her?

"Really? That's your question? Not 'I'm sorry for doin' what I did to you two years ago I hope you can forgive me'?!" She yelled, feeling her knees grow numb. She felt faint, sick even.

Why would he act so casual?

"Vi, what are you talkin' about?" Kathleen asked, sounding genuinely confused that her husband and Violet, whom she now considered to be a daughter to her if Violet and Billy were to ever date in the future, knew each other.

"What I'm sayin' is that your husband and a third party manipulated me into thinkin' he loved me but only used my 16 year old body for such disgustin' and vile things," Violet stated, glaring at Henry but speaking so gently and sweet to Kathleen.

"You what!?" Billy shouted in anger, turning to Henry. He immediately reached for his pistol, ready to put a bullet between his eyes, only to be stopped by his mother.

He always had a bad feeling about Henry, but knowing that he was the one who violated Violet was beyond disgusting. It was horrid. Silence stood between the 4 of them and Billy shot between Henry's feet, causing a cry of fear and surprise to erupt from Henry's throat.

"Warnin' shot," He stated bluntly before pulling Violet into his embrace as Kathleen practically dragged Henry back to the house to shout at him for what he did to her.

"You can put your pistol away, moron," Violet teased, giggling to herself as Billy rubbed her back, listening to the sounds of the two men burying his brother.

"No, I'm gonna need it when I get back to the house," He told her, a small smile tugging at his lips.

"Don't waste your bullets on him. He needs a slow and painful death," She argued, laying her head on his chest as he held her close.

Billy pondered that for a moment; get rid of the problem or let the problem suffer.

"You're right, he does deserve to suffer," He murmured, putting his gun back in his gunbelt. "I'm sorry he did that to you."

"Why are you sorry? You didn't know," She questioned, looking up at him and wipin' her tears away. As she did, she had also revealed her scars across her nose. He didn't say anything about her scars, thinking they added to her sense of danger.

"For not doin' somethin' sooner so he couldn't have hurt you," He answered simply, as if it was obvious. Violet felt a faint redness creep up onto her cheeks; he cared about her that much when they had only met a few days ago?

"Awh, Billy that's mighty sweet of you," She replied, not meeting his gaze so he didn't notice her growing redness. Billy gently laid his forehead against hers, smiling at her as he was happy to make her smile.

"Anythin' to see you smile, Vi," He murmured, holding her close.

That night, as the pair decided to stay and comfort Kathleen, Violet ended up staying over with the Antrims as it was pouring rain by the time she noticed it was dark out.

Billy let her cuddle with him in his bed, and they talked each other to sleep–talking about ideas on how to make Henry go 'missing' and comforting Billy about the loss of Joe. Late in the night, Billy woke up to the sounds of hustlin' and bustlin' in the kitchen area. He quietly got up, making sure not to wake Violet, grabbed his gun, and crept his way to the kitchen, aiming it at his step-father once he got a clear view of him.

Henry stopped moving, slowly looking towards his step-son.

"So you caught me. This is my money," He began, having only opened the small box that held what little savings Kathleen had.

"You haven't earned any of it. Not a fuckin' penny," Billy began, moving forward, keeping the gun aimed at Henry's head and being glad he towered over the man he hated. "You chase a dream. You pay for whores. You cheat on my mother and now you fucking steal from her!"

The more Billy spoke, the more he felt his anger rise. He didn't raise his voice. No, he couldn't do that. Not while his mother and best friend were asleep. They needed their rest. It had been an eventful day for both of them.

He continued to force Henry to back up eventually out of the house and into the cold rain. Billy didn't care about the cold. He had enough of Henry's bullshit.

"Not to mention what you did to Violet; she was fuckin' sixteen!! Sixteen!! How could even think of doing such a thing to her!?" He yelled, pressing the barrel of his gun to Henry's head. He could yell now, since they were outside; no one could hear him over the loud pouring rain.

Violet, however, woke up having to use the bathroom. She frowned, not seeing Billy in bed next to her.

'Maybe he's in the kitchen,' She thought to herself, yawning as she made her way to the bathroom, grateful that Billy's clothes covered her body mostly. As she made her way around the house to hopefully see Billy, just eating a midnight snack, she caught sight of him outside with Henry. She stood by the table, seeing the box of the family's savings. Sighing tiredly, she made her way upstairs again to grab a towel to dry him off when he came back inside.

"You could've been a good man like my father. All you had to do was try," Billy continued, cutting off Henry from his pathetic rambling and pleading.

Then he remembered Violet's words from earlier.

"Don't waste your bullets on him. He deserves to suffer."

And suffer he will. He lowered his gun and went back inside, shutting the door in Henry's face.

When he turned around, he came face to face with his mom and Violet. He assumed they heard him as Violet came over to him and wrapped his blanket around him, considering it was the only was big enough that could actually have any chance of drying him a little bit, as Kathleen lit another oil lamp to warm him up.

Violet, knowing this was a family matter, hugged Billy tightly once he sat down next to his ma and went upstairs.

She laid in bed for a while, staring at the ceiling as she waited for his return.

Once he came back to the room, with his hair still damp. Once he put his pistol away in his gunbelt, he laid next to Violet in silence. She pulled him into a tight hug once he got comfortable, holding him somehow tighter than before.

"Thank you," She whispered, knowing he drove away Henry for good.

"Of course, Violet," He whispered back, holding her close and burying his face in her shoulder. Vi buried her face into his neck, taking in his calming scent. He smelled like a wet dog, but amongst that scent, he also smelled like grass, mud, with hints of whiskey.

"I'm never leaving your side," She stated softly, earning a gentle chuckle from him.

"You're an idiot."

"Nah, you are."

"How am I an idiot?"

"Who went out in the rain in their pajamas 10 minutes ago?" She teased, giggling as he laughed softly, accepting defeat.

"Alright, you got me there," He admitted before closing his eyes to try an asleep.

"Yes, I do," She murmured, yawning before curling up into his side.

Days later, Kathleen dropped as well from the same illness that took Joe. The moment Violet had heard the news from Jesse, she had bolted barefoot to find him, determined to help Billy and Kathleen.

As the 18 year olds took care of Kathleen, she cherished every moment she had with them. She didn't want to go, yet she knew that God would reunite her with her husband and Joe. As she was being taken care of, she noticed how Violet and Billy talked and cooperated. They worked together without complaint and were just as stubborn as the other. Kathleen didn't want to leave Billy alone, but as time went on, she realized that he wouldn't be alone. He'd have Violet with him, and Kathleen was okay with that.

The day after she was buried, Violet laid her head on Billy's shoulder as his now former home was cleared out. The town had taken the house as Billy didn't have enough to pay for it.

Violet sighed, rubbing Billy's arm as he watched the home get cleared out.

"You can come stay with Jesse and I until you get back on your feet," She suggested, peering up at him.

"I don't wanna be a burden," Billy denied, shaking his head.

"Billy-"

"You could always rob someplace," a familiar voice said, pulling their attention from the now empty house to Jesse.

"Jesse, no, he needs money not to be arrested-," Violet began, rolling her eyes and crossing her arms facing her brother completely.

"I mean, it could work," Billy interjected, looking down at Violet.

"Where would you even try?" Violeg protested, looking up at him.

"That place," Jesse suggested, nodding curtly towards the Chinese laundry place across the road.

"No, you'll both get caught for sure," She told him.

"Doesn't hurt to try," Billy said, nodding to Jesse.

"You can't be serious, Billy!"

"Alright, meet back here around midnight."

"Fuck you, Jesse," Violet grumbled, pinching the bridge of her nose and closing her eyes in disappointment.

The next night, Violet had gathered Billy's things, as well as her own, onto 2 horses. She knew this would happen. Stupid Jesse and his dumb fucking plan. Violet knew this would happen, but did the boys listen? No, of course not. Why would they?

She peered around the corner of the clothing shop, seeing Billy running from the jail, and she whistled at him, causing him to stop running.

"Violet?" He questioned in a whisper shout as he came closer to her.

"Of course, you fucking idiot, now get on your horse and let's go," She playfully said, grinning and jamming his hat on his head.

"How- wait, why are you leaving?" He asked, not wasting time and getting on his horse as Violet got onto hers.

"Whose gonna keep your ass outta trouble?" She retaliated, grinning evilly.

"Rude," He repreplied, chuckling as the two snapped the reins and their horses were off.

'Goodbye to this hellish town and the people in,' Violet thought, smiling as she no longer would have to be forced into trying to date some of the other guys in town. 'Freedom at last.'

i try and shove it to the back of my mind, as i walk downstairs to make something to eat. jesus this is weird. im kind of glad he decided to do that yesterday, so then i could have the entire weekend to think over it. this is so crazy. i have no idea if i'm more nervous to go back to school now or not..

my mind was going 100000 miles per hour as i stretch on my tip toes and grab a box of cereal from the cabinet, and then the milk from the fridge. there was a note from mom on the counter next to the fruit bowl.

i slurped cereal out of my spoon as i read the note and smiled to myself. i should go to Emma's house. i haven't seen her in a minute and it'll help get my mind off this whole 'patrick' situation. i nodded in agreement with myself, then put my empty bowl in the sink and went back to my room.

i fixed up my bedhead, and then grabbed a pair of jean shorts and a large t-shirt, and my chuck taylors. i took a glance at myself in the mirror and sighed, mentally scolding myself for the shit I've let happen over the last 5 years, like i did every morning. i'm so stupid. so vulnerable.

i shut off my light and closed my bedroom door, then went downstairs. i grabbed my house keys off the hook next to the door, and then closed and locked it behind me. i felt uneasy the whole walk to Emma's house, constantly checking over my shoulder. eventually i got to Emma's and her mom let me in, and i was thanking god that Emma only lived about two blocks away.

me and Emma spent the day together. we went to the convenience store and got slushies, and then to the park where we met Jonathan and hung out with him for a bit. once the day few by, and the streetlights started coming on, we all agreed that we should go home before it got darker. as soon as i was walking home and i wasn't with Jonathan and Emma, dread crept over my body. it was dark, i was alone, and i had no clue whether or not henry and his gang were out on one of their little 'patrols.' i feel like it took an eternity to get home, but i finally did, and as soon as i unlocked the door and stepped inside, I locked the door and went to the kitchen. I reheated a slice of leftover pizza and leaned against the counter while i ate it. it was dark in the house, with the kitchen counter lights being the only thing lighting up the room i was in. after i was done eating, i turned to the sink and scrubbed a few plates that were sitting in the sink. when i was done, i clicked off the kitchen lights and walked back to my bedroom. halfway down the hallway, i heard the sound of clothes hitting the floor. inside my bedroom. immediately my heart dropped to my stomach, and i became silent. slowly i backed up, sliding my socks along the carpet, never lifting my feet, not making any noise. i slipped back into the kitchen and frantically looked around, somehow forgetting where anything was in my house. i grabbed a bread knife from the first drawer and spun back around, quietly pacing back and forth, trying to get my head on straight.

thoughts on my blorbo bleebus and the social justice villain trope

its very common in media (looking at you marvel) for a villain to legitimately have ideas and goals that are objectively good, with the exception that this goal requires unnecessary murder (why did Thanos kill 50% of people when he could just double resources? why didnt the heros double resources?).

for the purposes of this post, im going to ignore the details of Edward Creel theory for the most part, because Henry is almost completely irrelevant to what i have to say. this post is about Vecna/Edward. i will call him Henry for simplicity.

in the first shadow, we see that Henry is extremely anxious and shy, wants to be normal, and cant be normal no matter how hard he tries. he is very awkward, and is pressured to be normal via heteronormativity (im sorry shippers, he did not consent to that kiss. Patty assaulted him). [Edit: the play has been changed in small ways over time. the original scene was sexual assault, but the new one is not. arguably this strengthens themes of heteronormativity]

Brenner even says Henry should just be normal. the reason for this? its an abuse tactic. Brenner is breaking down Henry's will to be himself, reflecting how wider society also does this.

Henry's relationship with Patty is ruined by people demanding he be normal, both by Patty and Brenner (Patty is also a victim of heteronormativity. without it she would understand that a romantic relationship is not a requirement for her to be friends with a boy).

since Henry was banished to the upside down, he appears to be almost entirely controlled by the mindflayer, which weaponizes his pain.

in his monologue, Henry states his goal of making a world where conformity does not exist. this is said while flayed, and its not the mindflayers goal, but rather a radicalized version of Henry's feelings about his suffering. the mindflayers true goal is to infect earth, and promises Henry a world in which people like him will be safe. no more forced labour, no more heteronormativity, no more conformity (no one has media literacy anymore so i will say it directly: the mention of reproduction being involved in a life of forced conformity has a subtextual meaning of heteronormativity, reinforced by the heavy implications that El is Henry's daughter that he was forced to have).

i feel that this is much different from Thanos and Ultron being vaguely correct in some ways while also being evil (because the narrative says social change is evil).

Vecna is an autistic man who wants to be safe but is also possessed by a demonic entity that benefits from radicalizing him. i suspect that this makes the possession easier, and on his own Henry wouldn't be so extreme.

i think Brenner represents right wing ideals: he forces conformity, he doesn't allow employees to leave (living in a factory type deal), children grow up with no community because of him, he quite literally creates super soldiers designed to be perfect for oppressing people like some sort of nazi.

this would mean Vecna represents the countering leftist extremism: an ideology created from pain, the goal is simply a total destruction of the Enemy without deconstructing right wing beliefs such as "personhood is able to be revoked" which itself stems from "humans are superior" which allows humanity to be removed from someone at the oppressors will (look at racism. human centrism allows this shit to happen).

Vecna doesn't seem to have a strict goal, because his goal is just to destroy what hurt him. he is so hurt that he doesn't see the difference between his abusers and people who are part of his abusers society.

this is the same thing at the roots of things like terfism and the rise of leftists supporting the taliban. its bad logic like "these people are trying to kill what hurt me (christianity, men), so they must be righteous even if the collateral damage is extreme".

what these people don't realise is that the "collateral damage" is intentional. sometimes they even want the "collateral damage" to happen.

like many inexperienced anarchists, Vecna wants to destroy authority without understanding any way of replacing it. this of course is because the mindflayer does not intend a replacement. a lack of communal organisation results in authoritarianism rising again.

this is different from other instances of the social justice villain because in the context of the mindflayers control, its clear enough that Henry is not a bad person, but the mindflayer turns his pain into hate, becoming just as dangerous as what hurt him.

it's so interesting for me to hear that houses localization changed the script to vilify(?word?) the church bc when i played the game (i recently finished my first and so far only playthrough in lions route) for the first half of the game i was waiting for the shoe to drop to reveal the church is the big bad guys but it never came and the revealed was actually ed. idk if it should have been obvious but i was too focused on suspecting the church to see it or if it was actually subtle as i tend to be oblivious to hints(¿word again?) given in media lol.

idk where im going with this but i hope it makes at least some sense bc i am so sleep deprived rn

I'll answer the last part first since the rest is more descriptive.

Basically Henry went to Wizard School (tee em) and it was a cool and great experience. In JP, it was... iirc basically close to torture/hellish? It was a more mature situation/topic, but the loc changed it to be silly and fun sounding. For some reason Treehouse in particular seems deeply if not fatally allergic to mature topics and/or properly handling them.

As for Three Houses, yeah, in AM it doesn't really happen that way. Nobody is really vilified (not even the imperialist warmonger invading neutral lands!) in AM (same with AG in Hopes).

What you saw/understood was the whole point! It was made it look at first like the Church was suspicious, but then the reveal was meant to be no, it was a fellow house leader all along. That was what the red herring part about the Church was all about. You were supposed to suspect the Church at first, hence Jeralt's warnings, and if you're playing GD, Claude's suspicions.

Unfortunately what happens in the other routes, especially in CF, is that Rhea's trauma is never explored, no characters stop to understand her motivation, etc. She's just used as the resident bad guy because she's Edelgard's enemy. Basically, you're seeing it from the point of view that Rhea is bad because you see it from Edelgard's perspective... but it fails to work because the game, in particular the localization, amps Edelgard up as a huge progressive hero. AM is the only route that really confronts her about her "views", and even then, it's a mess because all the things she argues with Dimitri about aren't her end goal (i.e. they don't ever end up actually happening in the vast capacity she claims she's going to do).

About Edelgard:

The localization avoids any particularly negative comments about her and changes or outright removes them (true of Hopes as well). In Dimitri's case it would make sense because of their connection, but when it ends up just being another route in the pile of feeling sorry for Edelgard (and... not Rhea, who had her family massacred and their bones turned into weapons), it just feels stale.

They basically tell you Edelgard is very cute and easily embarrassed, and she's just this headstrong progressive woman fighting For The People (tee em). The truth is (as per the game itself, i.e. content they can't change/localized because it's the contents of the game itself) that she's invading innocent lands, conscripting her own citizens, turning her citizens into demonic beasts to add to her military strength (lelz when u can't even rely on ur nation's own military strength without demonic beasts), and victim blaming anyone who fights back (if you have yet to see the extremely infamous "no u" line from Edegard to Dimitri in CF, you've been blessed) among other things.

They basically shove it down your throat, characters and narrative both (in the loc in particular), that Edelgard is good and just, while the story itself is looking at all that like ???. The JP script still tries to take good care of her and her image, but they're a lot more blunt about her/her goals (i.e. they don't dance around them nearly as much).

The localization showers what she does with love and attention, and even when they have to say she's the problem/aggressor, they still pretty it up as much as possible (such as Dimitri wondering if maybe her vision of society could possibly be just and righteous, instead of outright admitting what she's done is absolutely atrocious when it's way worse than anything he ever did, all of which he admits to doing and takes responsibility for).

The JP version is more clear on her being the villain. There's definitely bias toward her (as the writers were, confirmed by an interview), but it doesn't slap you in the face with it nearly as badly. Also, Dimitri has won a character popularity poll every year since the game's inception in Japan. In the west, Edelgard is much more popular than she is in the east. That, of course, is because of the way the loc pushed the writing for her/about her.

Edelgard's "progressive" stuff is supposed to be just propaganda (which is ultimately, even as per the western endings because there's only so much they can change). The way the loc frames it is that it's actually what she's aiming for. It's what she uses to inspire people to fight for her though, not what she's actually doing.

About Rhea:

This one's the real doozy because it's a victim of the above. Since they wanted to pretty up Edelgard's dialogue and make her A Hero (tee em), they needed whoever her main enemy was to be the "villain". Since Edelgard, now popular because of the tweaks in her dialogue, hated and wanted to kill Rhea, so too did her raging fans who gave no fucks whatsoever about any character who opposed her... even if it was just to save their own life!

They changed the tone of Rhea's voice in the loc to make her more angry and villainous sounding, rather than sad or kind. She was basically altered in the loc to make Edelgard look better. Like, of course, in the perspective of playing a villain in CF, she's the bad guy and the enemy. The problem comes when they have Rhea say things that are more aggressive than in the original script, and change her tone to sound demeaning and vicious (when she was otherwise not or not as much).

But like, why? The only reason any of us can think of is because they wanted to market Edelgard more. This is likely a result of the west's views and especially political views, since Edelgard's pretty words would sound good to a westerner's political beliefs... until you dig into them/the actual story content more.

Rhea also being the head of a Church probably got tweaked because of the west's recent irl views on religion. Religion in the west has been looked poorly upon in recent years. Instead of accepting this is just a fictional game though, the loc team just... pushed that they're Really Bad.

Rhea is more of a victim of them needing someone to be worse than Edelgard to make Edelgard look like less of a villain (which again, this isn't the case in the original script nearly as much), and they couldn't use Thales/the Agarthans because you were allied with them in that route.

The other characters vs Rhea as a villain choice:

The goal wasn't to make a playable lord a villain in the loc's case. It was the intention of the original script with Edelgard, but the loc tried to make her actions sound more justified because ??? like idk, I can't wrap my head around them justifying what she does.

Dimitri isn't handled too badly by the narrative itself and he's overall seen as a good person (even the loc didn't alter that or Edelgard's ablest mentality toward a mentally unwell person), so he wasn't really a good candidate for all that. Also, Dimitri's story is one of recovery, and because they ventured into mental illness, he wasn't a good candidate. He was treated well and pretty fairly (Edelgard not treating him particularly well makes sense with her character, but the narrative itself doesn't push him as being a monstrous person. Even in the time he considers that he was, there's depth, logic and complexity to the situation).

Claude being the main bipoc character would have just been an all around disaster if the loc or even original script tried to make him the top villain, yadda yadda (understandably). There was no chance that was going to go over well, especially in the west (have you seen the shitstorm GW caused? And that was with the writing not considering him a villain!!). He was basically safe from the get go as far as villainy if they writers/localizers didn't want serious backlash (there are discussions about the overall treatment of poc characters in Houses/Hopes, but I can guarantee it would've been legit backlash if he was made to be a genuinely and intentionally horrible person, so that wasn't really an option if they wanted this game to actually sell and be enjoyed).

So since Rhea isn't playable and is the head of a Church, that kind of makes her the only candidate. Players will get attached to the other lords and not like killing them, so it won't feel like a badass victory to kill them. I guess for some reason the loc team just... hated Rhea or something?

Dimitri's death in CF is either extremely sad and garners audience sympathy, or in the other version of his death in CF it's clear his mentally stability is starting to break right before he's killed, which in and of itself is another topic. Claude is either free to go by choice of the player or can be killed, and his death is sad and he's not villainized. Aside from how some characters treat Claude's death (in contrast to Dimitri's which is never outright villainized even by Edelgard), the scene meant for the player at the time it happens is supposed to leave a bad taste in your mouth.

So again, it really just leaves the loc team with the option of Rhea if they want to make the final battle seem like a big victory for the player. VW also has its big happy victory, and surprise surprise, Rhea dies in that route (offscreen no less!).

SS kills off Rhea but actually makes it sad, and it's, you know, actually the route that focuses on her/the Church most. AM doesn't kill her off and doesn't treat any character death as a badass victory, and instead gives a bittersweet ending (which again would be in line with Dimitri's connection to Edelgard, and it only feels botched down because of all routes obsessing over her).

So while, technically, the writing in the JP script wasn't trying to make Rhea as bad as the western version of the game, if the loc wanted to go for that, she was the best option. It just... came at the expense of butchering her character to make Edelgard shine, which shouldn't have been done but it was.

shes a victim of henry and is a part of the flipside crew. she would probably be there just to heal the others. sorry i dont really have much for this T-T i mean she probably got killed by henry bcuz he didnt want dave to realize he really does have a family (aka "hey no distractions hes my test subject >:c) so BONK!!! to the head!!!

“911, Where is your emergency?” I said, my tone monotone

“PLEASE HURRY, WE HAVE SOMEONE UNCONSCIOUS” I heard a panicked woman say on the phone, swallowing thickly I cleared my throat before replying

“What is the address of the emergency” Typing into the call information her address and postcode,

“Tell me what’s happened, the ambulance is on its way” I spoke gently, keeping in mind that this woman was already in a vulnerable headspace

“M-my husband he fell off a ladder while fixing our roof, he h-hit his head pretty badly and is unconscious”

“How old is the patient ma'am”

“45, please hurry, I don’t know what to do my children are with me and they’re scared”

In the background I could hear the faint shouting and whimpers from the kids, shouting for their father as they sobbed.

“Is that patient breathing?”

“Y-yes he is, I listened to him breathing and I can see his chest rising and falling”

“Okay ma'am now-“

“Jeez how do you take calls like that without crying?” My friend Stacy asked from beside me, her headset hanging off her head as she just finished her call.

“It’s all part of the job, plus I can’t exactly blame her for getting angry when her husband’s hurt” I shrugged standing up from my seat and doing a stretch, my back cracking in the process causing me to wince.

“You’ve got balls L/n, i’ll give you that. What’s the worst call you got?”

“I uh, I had this girl call because she’d been abducted and long story short, we didn’t reach her in time” I said bluntly, going to face the computer again to see another call was going in.

“When was this Y/n? You didn’t tell me about it?”

“This morning”

“I GOT THE CALL ITS COOL” Daniel from another booth said, taking the call that was coming in.

Stacey spun round to me immediately

“Hold on this morning? Why the hell are you still at work, you should be at home. Are you okay?”

“What would I do at home? Mope some more? I’ll be fine stacey, I just need to get on with it”

“You are one stone cold bitch L/n”

“Hey would you mind taking some calls for me? I gotta use the bathroom a second?”

Looking into the bathroom mirror, my professional office attire, my slicked back hair in a ponytail, all of a sudden felt so uncomfortable.

Before I knew it, I had broken down into sobs, never in my life had I failed so badly to a point a life was lost.

The poor woman was screaming at me to save her while she was murdered on call, if only I had somehow gotten the team to get to her faster, despite the crew telling me there was nothing I could have done at that point. Their location was basically off the grid.

Sitting on the waiting bench in the bathroom, I grabbed my inhaler from my bag and took in a puff to calm myself down.

Thinking of that girl’s parents, the victim herself and what she went through destroys me.

Looking at the time on my phone I noticed I had a few messages from my fiancé Henry, my screensaver of us and Kal smiling back at me.

Deciding to not answer for now, I stood back up and looked in the mirror to fix my appearance. The same strong woman from earlier staring back at me, although this time her legs felt like jelly.

Stepping into the only cubicle I grabbed some tissue and dabbed away the tears.

*knock knock*

"Its in use" I called out to whoever was knocking, my voice clearly sounding nasally and hoarse.

With the knocking continuing I decided to

open the door, "Henry?"

Without another word being spoken he just engulfed me into his arms, him shushing my stifled sobs.

Looking down at his hands I saw he had collected my stuff from my desk ready to be brought home,

“What are you doing here?”

“I’m here to bring you home babe, Stacey called”

Looking behind him I saw Stacey giving me a heartwarming smile as I nodded at her, Henry put his large hand around my waist as he guided me towards the parking lot.

“I couldn’t save her Hen. I-I”

“It’s okay sweet girl, you did all you could and that’s all anyone could ask of you. This isn’t your fault” Henry said taking me back into his chest, his hands pressing onto my back gently as he pressed kisses onto the crown of my head.

“Let’s get you home yeah?” I nodded and got into the passenger seat, Henry’s hands never leaving mine all the way home.

(At Home)

Walking through the front door, I was immediately greeted by Kal jumping onto me making me fall to the ground.

“Go easy on mummy Kal” Henry said from behind me locking the door, putting my stuff by the front door.

“Its okay, you’re jus givin' me cuddles arent ya?” I said ruffing up his hair between his ears, his tail wagging wildly behind him.

“Come on pup, lemme take care of you” Helping me up from the floor, he gently lead me towards our grand bathroom, a bathtub big enough to fit three people.

“D-don’t you have work bub?” I questioned concerned, watching him turn on the hot water and pout in my favourite lavender bubbles.

“Not today love, you’re more important than any of that” He breathed out plugging up the tub, standing upright to then take off his shirt.

“You joinin' me?” I asked shyly, my legs swaying as I sat on top of the bathroom counter.

“Only if ya want me to” He said softly, his lips brushing against mine softly, “Good cus i want you to” I said kissing him softly, my hands going around his neck.

“MM” I squealed, his lips still attached to mine while he carried me over to the bathtub, sitting me on the wide ledge as he undressed me carefully, making sure to put kisses on all the spots he knew made me weak.

Once both of us had gotten naked, he sat me against him in the tub, his hands clasped around my stomach as, his whispers of affection close to my ear.

Turning me around, I now straddled him, his hands cupping my face gently before going to play with the loose strands from my loose bun framing my face.

“You’re so kind hearted, you know that?” He whispered, my head laying on his chest so that I could hear his heartbeat.

“I mean its kinna the bare minimum bub” I chuckled slightly, his hands stroking the back of my head softly.

“Nah you’re different, I find myself needing you by me alla time your scent, your touch and just you. You complete me Y/n”

“Well i’d like to think so hun” I joked showing him our engagement ring, causing him to chuckle before spanking my ass, the crisp sound filling the room.

“You are unbelievable” Looking up at him I peppered kisses along his jaw, stroking his beard with my hand as I took in his scent. His hands going all over my body, bringing me euphoria.

“I can’t help it, you’re all up on me Mrs Cavill” He joked with me now sitting upright, the hickies on his neck now standing out more than ever.

“Now but seriously are you okay babe?” He asked gently, his thumbs massaging circles into my love handles.

“Well I know it’ll take time to get back to normal, but with you with me i’ll be okay bubba, there’s no need to worry” I said reassuring him, his presence now helping me to think straight.

Me me! I have so many questions about Afton but I'll jsut ask one. How far does his knowledge in robotics go? I thought Henry was the one who built all the animatronics, and that William was only a business partner who managed the accounting and all that stuff, but in Sister's Location he was the one who programmed Circus Baby so now I'm super confused

The details of the answer for this one will vary wildly depending on who you ask, but as a general baseline, youre both right and wrong. Henry was generally more knowledgeable on robotics, working behind the scenes, and William WAS more of the businessman + social relations type half of their whole schtick. This is partially due to their personalities (Henry being quiet and reserved and haunted looking, William being outgoing and charismatic and a bit weird) HOWEVER !!!!!!!!!

William's skill in robotics eventually DID surpass Henry's; either that, or William simply had more drive for it. There is a popular fanon belief (half-backed by evidence in one of the novels) that he was jealous of Henry, admired his skills in robotics, and purposefully decided that he needed to get better than Henry was. This is partially due to TSE bringing up that William had '...stacks of journals full of raving paranoia, [and] passages about Henry that ranged from jealousy to near worship.'

It can be pieced together based on other evidence in the novels that these journal entries about Henry were specifically referring to his robotics expertise, alongside stuff about his family, but we're focused on the robot thing here. William says on multiple occasions that he thinks his animatronics are vastly superior to Henrys, but also backtracks and sort of contradicts himself by saying that a lot of what he (will) has achieved was purely DUE to Henry.

It can get kind of muddy there, due to the novels getting into illusion disc territory (which, as far as im aware, are not canon to the games and will be ignored effective immediately) BUT we can easily assume that William is mostly entirely responsible for the funtime animatronics. This is for a lot of reasons, but these are the basic obvious ones:

they belong to the afton robotics label, NOT fazbear entertainment

baby is designed after williams daughter, elizabeth, and was essentially built for her as stated by the little lady herself

the blueprints having things in them that william would never let henry know about in one million years (having compartments to store bodies in + ways FOR those victims to be attained by the animatronics)

they have a very different direction than the robots we know henry worked on (mostly in how theyre built; endoskeletons are different, the plates, so on so forth)

william used the funtimes for the express purpose of toying around with remnant/possession. the dead kids from fnaf 1? theyre in there ! im like 90% sure theyre in the funtimes! (remnant is...strange. the souls can be kind of split apart and stored in different places its confusing and fucked. something something memories something something presences idonr.know its not worth trying to explain)

anyways. aside from that. even if we dont take williams WORD for it because im not sure hes the most trustworthy individual, it can be easily observed that the animatronics he worked on himself are leagues more advanced than most anything Henry created. the funtimes are one of a kind, and you can see across the board that anything henry had a hand in tends to stick to the same sort of frame. the og animatronics, the toy animatronics, spring bonnie, the mediocre melodies, the rockstars, so on so forth.

Williams own creations have....More. Going on. And it makes sense for them to, given how their motivations were very, very different; Henry wanted to make robots and entertain kids. William wanted to entertain kids. He also wanted to kill kids. He also wanted to be better than Henry. He had more of a reason to become more skilled, and so, he did. sorry that this is so fucking long btw i have a lot of. information up there

the rest of the flayed in season 3 i think were somewhere between ceremorphs and (reverse?) oblexes? possibly because ceremorphs henry wasn't really looking to make more mind flayers and ceremorphs ? he was just looking to kill? the hive mind. let me be coherent in a different paragraph (although i will say oblexes were introduced just over a year before season 3 came out as the creation of a make-a-wish kid and thus the similarities might've been a happy coincidence)

ceremorphs. illithid tadpoles injected into beings to eat their brains and take over their bodies and either become mind flayers themselves or become some other ceremorphized being that either was a subset of the hivemind to boost psionic ability or to find new victims to become food/members or other stuff idk etc, or in special cases becoming a being powerful enough to split from the control of the elder brain and start their own colony. the flayed in s3 get their faces sucked by tentacles a lot like will in s1, when the tadpoles were first deposited. they certainly look like corpses whose brains are currently being devoured from the inside.

i feel like his character is about rejection, being unloved and only seeing the worst in people because of it. which is whyyy it would make sense if his ending was about accepting that people can be good and bad, guilty and innocent. that having done bad things doesn't ruin you as a person, bc thats what he keeps trying to show his victims, that they ARE bad people for their guilt and trauma. a satisfying resolution would be about convincing him to see the good in people. but his ending will probably be more along the lines of big explosion fireball eleven screaming.

i just wanna talk about bluey capsules michael for a sec because. oh my god he is everything to me

how he idolized his father to the point that when cc tried to tell him about william and charlie, michael got so furious at cc trying to ruin the idolized image he has of his father, which turned his admiration for his father into even more his hatred for his brother, leading to cc’s death???? literally the last thing that michael said before the bite was “father come look!” because he was just so desperate for william’s approval no matter who else he put in danger ???? and yes we know that michael didn’t like cc and was a bad brother anyways even before cc tried to tell the truth about william, but i honestly think that to michael, cc trying to ruin their father was his last straw and maybe he wouldn’t have killed cc if it hadn’t been for that comment ….

BUT THEN for all of that to come crumbling down when william’s true colours show and he praises michael for what he did to cc??? the first thing that he says to michael after the accident is “i’m proud of you, you’re just like me” and michael realizes that his father isn’t the person he thought??? AND THEN when william tries to “recruit” michael and reveals the truth and michael finds out everything he’s done, that what happened to that girl, the boseman kids, and FRITZ were all his father ???!!!!??,???, oh my god the BETRAYAL the HEARTBREAK it’s truly so well written im foaming at the mouth
