i'm trying to write fanfics myself & potentially even run a writing blog! could you share a few writing tips?

you are so cute.

i’ll let you in on a secret: i started actually publishing my fics in 2020, but i since abandoned them because they’re embarrassing. however, here’s one as a starting point. i look back at it and cringe A LOT, but it was my foot in the door, and 15 year old me was very proud of it, so i didn’t want to straight up delete it.

i didn’t start out on tumblr because i get nervous being forced to interact with people because im a pretty abrupt person and i talk about the things that i like too much and im aware that can scare people away. it was about halfway thru writing old habits before i actually posted something. that was this and i posted it because i knew what little audience i had knew ME because i wrote a scaramouche fic. so. scaramouche content.

and because of the tumblr tagging system, people saw it, they liked it, and some people wanted more.

i then interacted with other writers slowly even though i was scared and frankly still am. you dont have to go around asking to be moots or spamming hearts left and right and putting their dicks in ur mouth, but being nice and having a scope around on what other people do on here helped me develop this ugly little blog i have.

i got really into hsr so i write a lot of hsr. i get a lot of people that ask if i could write more genshin impact, and i could, but at the end of the day, it’s my blog, and if i dont want to, i dont have to. i lost interest, so i dont really have to care about it, nor pay it any mind. do i still write it? sure! rarely, but i do. i don’t play wuwa anymore, but im down to write a piece or two if i get an idea, etc etc.

another thing is: don’t write in the hopes that you’ll post it on tumblr. same way i don’t think artists should draw just for the sake of posting. i have so much shit laying on various docs that won’t even be shown on this site, because it doesn’t need to be here. not because it’s bad, or it’s weird, but because i don’t have to post it, because it’s my blog.

the thing is you just be yourself and write whatever the fuck you want. i write horror & weird shit; my audience is probably well aware of that by now, and im not really worried to post anything super weird because its sort of what’s expected of me.

i know horror and romantic cannibalism connotations and yanderes and unsubtle sexy threats is not everyone’s thing, and that’s ok! they don’t have to like what i put out, and i don’t worry about it, because people who like your shit will interact, and people who don’t will not. and people that don’t like ur shit and still interact are losers. hit the block button & move on.

someone is always bound to like your works.

i guess the ‘funny’ comes from the fact that i try to write dialogue how real people would speak. in fictional context, someone like kaedehara kazuha could wax poetry for three hours without stuttering in game, but realistically, nobody can probably do that without pauses, stammers, messing up words, etc. so i try to incorporate a sense of realism into everything, even if it’s a fanfiction in a world where a small boy in white tights is a god and everyone gets tiny little orbs that give them magical elemental powers.

i remember that even though these characters are fictional, i write them as though they could potentially be real people that do things real people do: fidget, stutter, blush, try and be funny and fail, they have problems large or small, etc. you have to mould your personality and writing style to make these characters alive on what you put out—childe seems like a great husband on paper, but is he all that good when he has unchecked mental health problems and has violent outbursts and desires? think about it.

another thing: don’t doubt your skill and prowess, especially in comparing yourself to posts with like 10000+ notes. most of them are note farming bullshit anyway—and a lot of the reader community is more likely to click on porn fics than normal fics. its why the popular posts on the x reader tags are usually porn. it’s half the reason why confiteor is infinitely more popular that old habits when im pretty sure scaramouche is a bigger character on the popularity charts.

strictly nsfw blogs that people make i can guarantee you are a lot more popular than their main blogs.

which brings me to: dont hop on trends. don’t do it. youll burn yourself out. just write what you want. fuck everyone. do whatever the fuck you want. if porn is popular but you’re extremely sex-repulsed or not comfortable, don’t write it. dont write to please people; it’s your blog and your time you’re putting into to do what YOU like, and you’re sharing your work for FREE on a public platform. a lot of people can’t do that. there’s people that follow my blog that openly admit they don’t like yandere/horror/whatever content. am i going to change what i post because of these people? no. not my problem. don’t care. i don’t exist to please everyone, and neither do you. stick to what you like.

don’t write for fandoms you don’t give a shit about just because they’re popular. even if what you like has a small, non-existent fan base, i promise you’ll enjoy writing for that more than something that you’re creating for clicks. notes are nice, but again, you don’t have to post everything you create. half the joy in writing is rediscovering old shit you don’t remember writing for a fandom you actually like. it’s like a reward.

ive never really maintained a blog before but it’s been a goal of mine for a long time, and since my goal for 2025 is to try and work towards my most authentic self & pamper myself to the fullest. plus i’ve been wanting new hobbies for quiiiite some time. for the most part i spend most of my time reorganizing my room or hanging out with my girlfriend, and i spend most of my day on my phone since im mid job-hunt right now. i work at a seasonal arts & crafts festival & i love to draw, paint, sculpt, make jewelry, and im learning how to sew!

the plan for this blog is to be a progress tracker, i want to watch myself grow into the person i know i deserve to become. i want to build better habits for myself, adopt new ways of living and rid myself of ways that no longer serve me. i want my twenties to be beautiful, and i want to have a way to look back on these years. and if anyone happens to stumble across my corner of the internet, maybe ill inspire them to want better for themself too.

i want a consistent routine. ive never had the discipline for it but discipline is a choice not a feeling and i have to choose to want better for myself if i want to break the cycles i was born into. skincare and shower routine and haircare and cleaning my space and eating better and sleeping well. ive been working on a lot of these habits already for a few months now and im really proud of how far ive come from when i was in highschool. since im not in college yet i want to ensure i keep myself learning.

i love learning and reading. i have a small collection of books on lesbianism and kink from the late 1980s-early 2000s that are my pride and joy. i also really want to document the process of me trying to get back on HRT & back into therapy this year. all things self improvement you catch my drift.

skincare & self care in general has also been a recent obsession, i grew up never being taught how to show myself love and ive realized nothing makes me feel better than a clean body, clean outfit, and a clean mind. living on my own and having to take care of myself for the first time, i want to make my life softer than its ever been before.

something i wish to achieve with this blog includes inevitably moving this to my own website rather than something hosted by tumblr, i have a longstanding passion for web design and it would be really fun to document the journey on here alongside building a blog creating a website for!!! though this is an exceedingly longterm goal, i think it is worth putting it to paper (ive heard this makes things real faster.. i think if something’s gonna hapen its gonna happen, wether its on paper or not, but i like the idea nonetheless…)

At least here the only thing people will be pointing out now is the strange flora!

though,,, I've said it a few times in a few places but I'm super enamoured with the concept of having different names for different contexts though I've been bad at actually doing it and the name I'd like to use in online spaces / for people I don't know irl is Ryuuka (I know I had another online alias/name before that i streamed under for 2yrs but due to Events I now hate being called that so all 3 of u that know it that name is dead to me now please forget) so I suppose instead I should write

so I tried to search my blog for the "hobbying" tag to see what I have and have not posted recently but lo and behold,

except it won't if course because it sucks.

so anyway I'm gonna start typing about things and hope I get everything I haven't posted and nothing I have.

something like three weeks ago, I finally got to play a match of Warhammer 40k with my older brother! this had been in the making in a way since 2014(-ish I don't remember), when this same brother introduced myself and my other brother to the concept of Warhammer and all three of us bought models. sadly both brothers quickly discovered the "building and painting" portion of the hobby and promptly dropped out, one of them giving his T'au models to me because I LOVED THIS SHIT.

anyway I think I posted about all this before and that Match In Question wherein I took 500pts of Grey Knights (Brother-Captain, Terminator Squad, Strike Squad) against my brother's 500pts Imperial Guard (Commissar, Guardsmen regiment, 3x Mortar Crew models, Sentinel, Leman Russ)or something like that I didn't read his list. Unfortunately this battle ended with my noble Grey Knights getting summarily decimated and right tabled by the mighty power of the autocannon-equipped Leman Russ if that bastard Russ wasn't already dead I'd kill him myself

again I'm fairly sure I've posted about this before so I'll stop there and not add images.

also before I continue (to explain why points counts might seem weird to other 40kplayers) I should note that I have been and will continue to be playing Fifth Edition Warhammer 40k, because those are the books that I have. New books are hellishly expensive and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to reasonably use wahapedia so anyone who is going to tell me to play a more recent edition please kindly do one of the following;

1.) shush.

2.) buy me the books urself since you can afford it

3.) go get intimate with a cactus.

Now! about a week ago, a little less, I got to play ANOTHER match of 40k! a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. this time with a friend who has an adjacent interest in similar sort of games and who helped me build the felt-and-aquariumplant terrain pieces Im certain I posted pictures of before though I can't go check >:|

This match was again 500pts and featured both my lovely new terrain and the following armies;

TYRANIDS. >Tyranid Prime (boneswords, devourer) >3xRaveners (rending claws) >5x Ymgarl Genestealers >10xHormagaunts (adrenaline glands) >10xTermagaunts (devourers)

GREY KNIGHTS. >Brother-Captain (mastercrafted storm bolter, mastercrafted nemesis force sword) >5xTerminator (mastercrafted storm bolter [justicar], mastercrafted nemesis force sword [justicar]) >5xStrike Squad (nemesis force halberds [all], mastercrafted storm bolter [justicar])

it was great! took about 4 hours because I hadn't memorized everything yet and my friend/opponent was new to 5th but we had a good time despite getting real exhausted by the end of it there are too damn many numbers to remember

I'm still super happy with how the new terrain looks!! sure it's very Amateur Hour and doesn't look ~realistic~ but I love it and am very proud of it!

Unfortunately in this match, the Grey Knights not played by me this time again tasted bitter defeat. I begin to think that list I made just sucks. or that the army needs a larger point total to make a functional list. further experimentation needed.

First blood was taken by the Knights shooting down a few(2) Hormagaunts, which was repeated in the next turn gunning down another 5 of them. the remaining gaunts took shelter for their lives behind a small copse of trees, though the Knights' Terminators quickly closed to finish their prey.

the Nids took revenge in the Genestealers flanking and stealing the jeans off the Strike Squad, without a single loss.

Finally came the crushing melee of the Raveners charging the Terminators and Captain from the cover of the ruins, slowly inflicting death (with great difficulty and losing one of their number due to those incredible 2+saves), eventually being joined by the Tyranid Prime and Genestealers in finishing off the stragglers.

the Termagants... yeah. those guys were there. they mostly just hung around. fired off 40?-ish shots and inflicted a total of 1 wound. good job guys. worth every point, truly.

Unfortunately because I failed to teach the game and remember the rules properly, this match was unbalanced, as the Terminators were not making 2 melee attacks per turn as they should've and I'd forgot to roll for the Nids instinctive behaviour rules (though the only difference that would've really made was the already useless gants running for cover if they failed)

It was a good learning experience and we had fun though!! surely we'll have a better and more heated match next time! ฅ⁠^⁠•⁠ﻌ⁠•⁠^⁠ฅ

In other news! yesterday I finally took the time to get my printer in Operational Condition again! this means that, after being more than a month with only one arm, my Knight Armiger Warglaive proxy (model courtesy of u/johnbearross on reddit) is finally fully operational! catgirl very extremely excited about this one

additionally, though I do need to print another warglaive and two helverins still, I've started on printing the bigger boy, a Questoris Knight Paladin proxy (model credits the same), something I've been excited to do for forever and the next step towards the biggest finalest goal; the Imperator Titan

base and left leg printed (6h each), right leg in production (another 6h) (also I know the quality is bad because of the flash but my kitchen's lighting is awful and I promise without it looks worse) (don't mind the bag of rice in the bg, girl's gotta eat)

FINALLY, the most recent development in Ryuuka's Hobbying;

MY BOYS??!??! MY BEAUTIFUL LOVELY SPECTACULAR BOYS????? THEY ARRIVED TODAY!!

bit of a story on this one, but first; I know that I told one of my dear friends like 6months ago that the next time I bought gunpla of get one for u too and we sat down and picked one out for u and everything and I didn't forget I swear but I shouldn't've even bought these boys since I have a lot of debt going on, the only reason I did is that on god man I need a distraction project or the depression is gonna Get To Me (not that it doesn't already but,) so like. When I actually have spare money instead of spending money I don't have I WILL get u that gunpla and we will build them together I didn't and am not gonna forget.

Okay so the deal with these boys is that I was talking to a friend recently about how I really like the appearance of Mass Production Mobile Suits over the special Gundam suits (unpopular opinion but I hate gundam suits' horns/crests, I think they look so so silly), in particular I love the look of the DaggerL and the Rgm-79 GM, but I really don't like the GM's helmet, I feel that it dramatically detracts from my man's vibes since the GM is made of angular and square segments and then the helmet is ROUND and also the visor is really large and open, giving it something of a 'friendly' (anthropromorphizing, I know) look that really doesn't suit the rest of it's design. In the same moment I was lamenting this design contradiction, a guncannon came on screen, which has a helmet with a narrower visor, and a- well I guess it's called a visor too but the shade thing some helmets have like a built-in imitation ballcap thing and anyway the Guncannon's head design gives it a much more 'serious' look that I feel would fit great on the GM, and the GM's more open and round design would fit right in with the Guncannon's rounded limbs and fuckoff huge shoulder-mounted cannon barrels.

So immediately in that conversation I had something of an epiphany of this and decided that I HAVE TO make a headswap of those guys and NOW IM DOING IT except what I need right now is a project so we're taking it a couple steps further

I'm gonna trim these guys all out of the runners, file the nubs, label all the parts with masking tape and little baggies, swap the head parts, then going one colour/runner at a time, prime them black, paint them, panel line them, sticker them, top coat them, and ONLY THEN will I finally start assembling them

I've never painted a gunpla before but the best way to start is a headfirst dive into conkcrete babey let's get it

also I want to try weathering on my GM, nevermind that I've never tried it before and have no idea how, and each kit will be getting a different topcoat; glossy for the Guncannon because I want my boy to look like fun lil candy apple lad, and matte for my GM because I want it to be a semi-realistic Setpiece build.

also been thinking about utilizing the power of masking tape mid-painting process to add stripes of red to GM's arm&leg armour, but currently unsure if I want to follow through with the idea.

is it bad that im completely fine talking about my sexuality but i hate talking about being trans? it just feels like the more i think about it, the more i have to face the struggles. im proud of who i love and im free to share it but theres no pride in being transgender for me, just pain.

Honestly depending on the way you were raised, the environment you grew up in and the one you live in now, being not straight could be easier than being trans, so no, it’s not “bad,” anon, it’s simply just, the way you feel, and that’s okay.

But one thing I’d ask myself if I were you is why do you feel proud of who you love, but not proud of who you ARE?

As a trans person, I understand what you mean when you say there’s pain in being transgender. Yeah. It really does fucking suck sometimes.

But I wouldn’t trade being trans for the world. Being trans is part of who I am. I chose my name and my pronouns and I made myself who I am. To be transgender is to create yourself, to set yourself free and BE WHO YOU ARE. To be transgender is not only to feel gender dysphoria but also gender EUPHORIA, to feel not only the misery of being misgendered but the giddiness and joy that comes from being called the right name, dressing the way you want to, affirming your gender.

Being trans, just like being gay or bi or lesbian, is something to be fuckin proud of. It’s part of who you are, and it’s a beautiful thing, to be trans, anon.

I would suggest trying to interact with other trans people, online or irl, as much as you can, and also learning about trans history. You can go through #people tag or #photography or #trans pride on my blog, and see that trans people have always existed and you have so so much to be proud of.

Hey! Glad you like my GOW stuff!

So I do post it, but it's a nightmare to find because:

1. I only started seriously drawing about a year ago so there isn't that much of it

2. A lot of it is posted on my Dragon Age blog because for a long time most if not all of it was Dragon Age

3. I don't have a consistent tag because... I don't think I've earned one. I'm not an artist so I shouldn't have an art tag, and if I did have one it would be dishonest. What I draw doesn't feel like art. I know it doesn't make sense but it's a thing

BUT instead of scavenger hunting or making you scavenger hunt down my drawings I'll just post them all here.

Here's my first idea of Hel (going to redesign her soon. The overall colors and placement of the skull will remain but otherwise she's gonna change pretty drastically)

I know most people would say I can call myself an artist, call these drawings art, and have an art tag but I just. Honestly do not think I've earned it. I don't hate this stuff, I'm showing it to you because I'm proud of most of it! But I still do not think I've earned the right to any of that

I don't know what earning it looks like but I truly don't think I've reached it, and I know that's dumb, but it's very real for me. If people are starting to ask maybe I'll make one, even though it really feels like I shouldn't

this took a LOT of mental energy lol but im proud of myself for coming up with 5 things!!

i like how passionate i am about danganronpa! and i knowww that might sound like a silly thing to put on this list, but it's true. being an active part of this fandom has made me the happiest i've been in a long time! i love these silly little characters with all of my heart, and sharing my interests with like-minded people has been so much fun. and also, liking danganronpa has kind of contributed to all of the things on this list, so i just feel it's helped me like myself a lot more as a person!

i like that i am queer :) lol not to make this post depressing but i've spent so many years hating myself for who i am, and i feel like i'm actually finally starting to accept myself properly. still don't know exactly what label fits my sexuality (or gender lol) but i think queer suits me, and it feels nice to know there are so many people like me in one way or another!!

i likeeee hmm i like my height! again, it's something i've disliked about myself for years, ive always wanted to be a bit taller, but after realising i'm the same height as fuyuhiko, i like it more now! whenever i see a picture of him with anyone else e.g. a screenshot from the anime i just mentally go ooooo so that is how tall i would look next to them!! so my height makes me happier than it used to :)

i like that i'm creative! sometimes i dislike the art or writing or whatever i make, but i'm proud of myself for pushing through and practicing my skills regardless. i won't get any better if i don't practice, right? so i've got to keep going!! :D

hmmmm, last thing. i like that i'm quite good with animals! definitely not gundham level lol but i have 4 cats, i raised them all from feral strays practically by myself and i think they love me a lot! sometimes i have to spend hours just like rolling a ball for one of them to play with.... and it's..... exhausting (😭😭) but i love them dearly.

okay three facts:

like okay gunna be braggy because im proud af ahah - solo hiked denali national park's triple lake trail. roughly 9.3mi north point to south, so like 19mi out and back. i did 15mi because it was starting to rain HARD. set out from the trailhead at 8am and didnt get back to the visitor center until like 6:30pm. read lord of the rings and ate lunch on a cliff. entire state is gorgeous ngl. but denali is OUT OF THIS DAMN WORLD. top tier happiest moments of my life because this was a day before my 31st birthday. it was BOMB. ah! i miss alaskaaaaaa.

i have a sticker phobia - its serious. seeing them on clothes, hair, skin, water bottles or laptops grosses me out. one time i punched a guy i worked with because he thought i was joking. bitch i was CRYING. we were housekeepers for our college and he peeled it off someones bed and put it on my shirt, and told him to get it the fuck off me and he just kept laughing and i socked that fool right in the chest. dont play with me boy. lmao. i'll even cut off the sticker on fruit. man my first college roommate used to collect fruit stickers and put them on our refrigerator door. i kept telling her to not do that because of the phobia. but what she do. not listen. brush it off. got my own place the next year. aha. god im telling you just talking about it ahaha makes me SICK. and im the only one that could laugh at me about it okay. im sensitive.

i used to make music about harry potter (wizard rock) when i was younger. since rowling outed her self as an asshole, i've of course been disenchanted with that fandom/franchise. sometimes ill read fic, and will always savor wizard rock/all the friends i had made through that particular sub-community, but for the most part ive distance myself from any new media row and co push out. was a big part of my life. now its not. shit happens. and there are other great stories to fall into. that don't propel systemic harm. :/
