(i cant remember who tagged me in this, because i just have this massive backlog of tagged stuff on tumblr but ty to whoever it was!)

in order of date of posting:

1. the mechanics of an ice-cream date - buckytony, college/university AU, vampire AU , established relationship, 1.3k, G

winteriron winter stocking exchange fill for the prompt: Tall beefy broody vampire Bucky is soft for his human boyfriend Tony

this fic is special to me for multiple reasons. for one, it’s my first ever actual participation in a fandom event, which i’m quite proud of because i usually chicken out when it comes to fandom events. secondly, i managed to completely steer away from angst and keep this completely cutesy and fluffy, which is kinda remarkable for me. third, but definitely not last, vampire AUs have a very special place in my heart and i finally managed to write one that im proud of!

2. and now my heart’s been stolen - samtony, mcu, post tws, pre-slash to slash, 5k, G

Post TWS - Sam finds out that HYDRA bombed his apartment in retaliation for helping Captain America, and accepts Tony Stark's generous offer to move into Avengers Tower in New York. He slots in effortlessly with the team, except for one glaring problem: Tony Stark hates him.

It makes Sam's growing crush on the genius extremely inconvenient.

samtony is actually a ship that’s super special to me, but ive only ever written tiny drabble on tumblr for, so this fic was a big surprise for me. it was one of those fics that just poured out of me, continuously, and i didn't even know i could write that much until i wrote that much, and i was rly lucky that it was well received and that this was the fic that introduced some people to samtony!

3. the memories bring back (you) - buckytony, mcu, soulmates AU, 1000 lives ‘verse 6.5k, T

“Mission: Extraction and Execution. Primary Target: Super-soldier serum,” the Asset intones, “Secondary Target: Howard Stark. Collateral: Maria Stark.”

Tony inhales a sharp breath, exhaling in a splutter like he’s being choked, but the Handler pays him no mind, so the Asset continues.

“Serum extracted at 0200 hours. Secondary target neutralised. Collateral neutralised. Return to base at 0500 hours. Mission successful.”

The Handler nods, once at the Asset, and another time, more firmly, at Tony.

“Like I said,” the Handler says to Tony, “you never know what you have until it’s gone.” Tony doesn’t seem to be paying the Handler any mind, instead glaring at the Asset, and doesn’t even notice when the Handler leaves the room. There’s an outwardly calm that’s overtaken Tony that it is stark contrast to the way he was shivering with anger, and yet, the Asset does not think he is actually calm, not in the slightest.

“You killed my mother, you son of a bitch,” Tony finally murmurs, “I’m gonna rip your heart out and feed it to you.”

i feel kinda guilty adding this knowing that there’s a sequel that ive promised that i haven’t delivered on yet (im working on it guys i really am) but i really got the opportunity to delve into bucky’s psyche here a bit and flesh out little details i had dropped into 1000 lives so i rly enjoyed writing it

4. begin again - samtony, modern AU, single dad tony, teacher sam, pre-slash to slash, 9.9k, G

Sam never imagined himself as an elementary school teacher.

(Or, after the Air Force, after Riley, Sam becomes a teacher. And then he meets Lila Rhodes. And Lila Rhodes' Dad. And Stuff Happens.)

this fic is another fic that just snuck up on me, because i really just was going to write a tiny drabble to answer the prompt, but basically what happened was i got rly worked up about racism. the thing is right, in modern AU fics, there’s always this deep nuanced explanation for why bucky is working the night shift as a guard for SI or how tony quit his job and became a dancer or when steve opened his flower-shop and its always rly fun to read and helps the reader get into the universe - but then sam and rhodey just fit into the universe because ✨ reasons ✨. and yeah, a part of that is because those fics aren’t centred around sam and rhodey, but even characters like peter and natasha and wanda get these deep in-universe backstories, but ned and mj and kamala are just, slotted in.

i dont think its intentional, but a lot of authors are happy to write poc characters into their AUs for the sake of a character, without actually bothering to delve into why that character is there. like steve owns a flowershop because his mother taught him flower language when he was a kid and he hated violence and sam works the counter because he is (checks notes) steve’s friend. i’m not saying that sam can’t work the counter, but it would be nice if some nuance was given to why he’s working the counter instead of just being a therapist like he canonically is. and thats how you arrive at the conclusion that sam is working the counter because if he’s a therapist with his own life then he can’t serve his narrative purpose of being steve’s bestfriend - which if you think about it, is basically just the black bestfriend type deal.

and when i started writing this fic, i realized i was doing the same thing. it was conveniently narratively for sam to be a teacher, but where i was giving tony a proper backstory on how he became a single dad, i wasnt giving sam the same nuance. and it was important to me that i didnt fall into this pitfall, so i reworked the fic to build a narrative around sam the school teacher, and it became this massive piece, and im truly so proud of this fic i can’t even explain it

5. just let the feeling grow - mcdanno, hawaii 5 o, established relationship, 1.4k, T

Danny finds the ring three days after Steve buys it.

for those who haven’t watched hawaii 5 0 (btw please go watch h50, it’s so worth it), one of the major running themes is danny’s relationship with his ex wife, rachel. even though they never officially get back together, she’s someone he frequently falls into bed with, and they even have two kids together. in typical fandom fashion, this means that in most mcdanno fics, she’s quite villainized. even though i dont agree with everything she’s done, i have always found rachel to be a refreshingly complex character and always had a bit of a soft spot for her. another major recurring theme is, due to the tumultuous nature of his relationship with rachel, danny is a bit of a commitment-phobe.

i was going to do a character study type fic where i looked into what the breakdown of his marriage had meant for how danny views relationship and views marriage in general (in the light of a possible second marriage with steve), but then, as you can see from the wordcount, i got a bit lazy and just wrapped it all up in a thousand or so words. despite that, i am still proud of this fic, bc i think i touched on a couple important things, and most importantly - i get to say i added some good vibes into a fandom that is so quick to demonize its female characters

Okay im so excited please know I think about How The Light Gets In's world every day still, and so anyways here is a side story I want to write but there's a lot of set up regarding the reader and eef becoming friends again. For context, they were incredibly close around 2014-2017, but people were getting creepy and invasive and demanding about their friendship (think 2012 toxic side of the Phandom, if that makes sense), and a lot of the reader's relationships were strained at that time because while they had been successful before, they were absolutely blowing up after their first album released and they became far more mainstream. They felt like they were bothering the people they had become closest to, both because they're worried that they're a bother, and because gossip rags and paps would harrass their friends looking for a scoop, and so they ended up just completely cutting off contact without warning one day right before they went on their first tour. the start of HTLGI is about 3 years since they'd been in proper contact with any of the creators they were close to at that time.

DON'T LOOK AT ME on their 2017 ep Hyperfocus was a more general song in response to everything that had been happening in their life around that time, with a focus on how they stop associating with anyone for a while, without outright addressing it, but on their latest album n o s t a l g i a, read at 5am ft. Troye was specifically written at the start of quarantine, when the reader was getting back into YouTube, about their feelings regarding how their friendship with ethan ended, as they spent a lot of this time looking back of their YouTube career, and he was the person they were closest to for a very long time, before they iced everyone out.

OKAY SO THERES MORE OF THE BACKGROUND OF THE WHOLE FIC AND THE READER BUT

Werewolf Ethan & Mark. I'm sorry I don't make the rules. They have golden retriever energy you cannot change my mind. But also because this is the HTLGI you know that supernatural characteristics are able to be activated rather than just triggered by the full moon. What I'm trying to say is since this is set in the year of Unus Annus, they film a video together that's like, you know that show where a person has to try and outwit a professional tracker? Except its the reader being tracked by two werewolves at night in a national park. Reader is wearing some sort of night vision camera on themselves so whenever it cuts to them the audience can't actually see how they're using their powers, if that makes sense.

Also the reader agreed to this knowing it would probably be when they ended up telling Mark and Ethan about them being a demon.

A few Moments that the boys edit out:

The reader using their stupidly sharp prehensile tail to swing from tree branches, though they leave in shots where the reader's tail can't be seen.

Knowing that with the werewolves having advanced hearing, the reader would give themselves away by talking to the camera, they take a few minutes having flown up to a high tree branch, to pull out a notebook and do a little sketch of how Mark and Ethan appear in their Demon True Sight, and holding it up to their camera.

Werewolves being one of the animals who can kind of sense demons without being able to identify them, essentially like dogs can sense natural disasters and are often good judges of character, this can be heightened on command for werewolves. There's about 15 minutes of footage cut out of the boys discussing or mentioning how this place has awful vibes and that they should have done this during the day. It gets worse as they get closer to the reader, who didn't realise that the boys hadn't thought to ever use that particular power around them before.

("I say this with so much love and appreciation for you, dude," Ethan yells, looking up at you from the base of the tree they'd finally found you in, "but I- this is making me anxious I feel like something terrible's gonna happen, and we should probably get out of here and film the rest of the video back at Mark's." And behind him, Mark's nodding, shifting his weight from one foot to the other, eyes scanning the trees for whatever was most likely the cause of this terrible impending doom.

Oh. It's you. And they don't know its you.

Now or never, you suppose.

"Can you cut the cameras for a second? You're going to be fine I promise," you called back, and though they obligingly did, they both seemed antsy. You cleared your throat awkwardly, "that... that terrible feeling, that's not the park or anything in it- well I mean, it is, but it's just- it's me."

and later

"Dude your wings smell like rotten eggs."

"To YOU Ethan! And no they don't!"

"If it makes you feel better they smell like burning and rotten eggs."

"It does not."

(for reference, when enhancing their sense of smell werewolves can kind of distinguish various supernatural creatures, or parts of supernatural creatures. Some creatures have an inherent scent, but some, like angels and demons, only have distinct scents when they've activated certain attributesor abilities; demon wings smell like fire and brimstone, which unfortunately means burning and rotten eggs. I like to think angels wings are like the love potion in Harry Potter that smells like the things you love the most. Mark and Ethan usually don't enhance it around each other because they smell like wet dog to the other)

This gets about 2k notes on tumblr. The reader likes it:

Other things to note regarding all this:

It takes a while to rebuild their friendship to the point where they're comfortable enough to be on camera together (eef and reader specifically).

However, the Unus Annus video is the first thing they properly do together, and the reader, in an effort to connect more and make up for the past, will join in multiplayer gaming streams if asked.

Impromptu duet in proximity Among Us of Young Volcanoes by Fall Out Boy, which has their respective chats and fandoms losing their minds, except it stops abruptly after the first chorus as they both remember the opening lines of the second verse (make it easy, say I never mattered -- those lyrics hit a little too close to home)

But also the reader convinces him to join him for a proper cover in like, February of 2021, and it's something deeply sappy (I'm thinking Bon Iver by mxmtoon because I think its sweet and fits them well)

Also Ethan being reminded that the reader is kind of a much bigger deal than when they'd been friends before.

designed to hurt (touch me) from their ep Working On It is nominated for a Grammy for Track of the Year, and n o s t a l g i a wins Best Pop Album (because it's my fic and I said so)

FIRST OF ALL designed to hurt (touch me) is a beautifully produced song about Corpse (which people do not know) and the title itself is literally making fun of something he said IMAGINE his reaction to it being Grammy Nominated 😂😂😂 God he'd be proud but lowkey fuming, meanwhile the moment the nominations are announced the reader tweets:

me: here is an album where I processed my entire world view including heartfelt explorations of the trauma of existing and oversharing in the public eye from a young age without the traditional barrier between audience and entertainer

the grammys: that's cute BUT you know the song you wrote to bully your boyfriend and also be horny on main for him before you guys were even dating? THAT deserves its own recognition.

meanwhile Ethan's like..... this is the same person who I filmed a video with playing cards against humanity, and you laughed so hard you almost threw up. I am very proud but deeply confused.

The Hot Meme of Late April 2021 is "2 time Grammy Award Winning Artist Y/N" with a gif, still, or quote from the reader where they're just being an absolute chaos gremlin.

Of course we have "If I bleached my asshole for charity I'd do it tastefully."

2 Time Grammy Award Winning Artist Y/N speaking to their actual boyfriend in the year of our lord 2020: You are being executed for Clown Crimes.

ethan posts a short video to twitter simply of his screen where he's renaming a folder from "Never Before Seen Images of Grammy Award Winning Artist Y/N" simply changing it to 2 time Artist. The reader responds specifically to his tweet with a video of themselves asking Google how to hard reset someone else's computer.

So many screenshots from old videos surface that week.

there’s not really a specific moment where it hit him

his love for you grew gradually

which is exactly how he liked it

from the moment he met you he was never nervous around you

he never felt like he wasn’t good enough or like he had to try harder

everything made sense from day one

there would be moments where is heart could burst from it

like the time you tried to fix his broken jeans with a youtube tutorial

or when you first fell asleep on his chest

the worst was when he couldn’t see you for a few days

as if the love in him grew and grew but he couldn’t give it to you

he just felt like he was going to explode sometimes

thinking about all the memories you’ve made and will make in the future as he slowly drifts to sleep

it was only like three days but boy was he DEPRIVED

he was the first done packing

the first in the car

the first to run into the dorm and put his bag away

aaaand the first to run out the door again

you two had been texting all day about movies to watch and all the stories he wanted to tell

his knee bumped up and down in the bus

he couldn’t remember the last time he was this hyped

only three more stops

he gazed out the window chuckling at himself

who would’ve thought someone could make him feel like this?

his hand clutched on to the souvenir he got you

two more stops

an old couple got in

yoshi always had a weakness for happy old couple

but now especially

he smiled politely at them

admiring how in love they looked

that would be you in the future, he thought to himself

recognizing restaurants you two went to

clothing stores where you complimented his style

it’s the one where you two met

he still can’t believe he managed to strike up a conversation with you that day

but it must’ve been meant to be

the sound of your shoes on the floor came closer

he turned to face the sound and before he could even see your face he was holding you in his arms again

you weren’t sure how long you’d been there

he hummed along to the song you just put on

before being interrupted by the sound of his own stomach

you nodded in agreement as you grabbed your phone

he started thinking about what to get, watching you tap away on your phone

your hair was laying in a circle around your head

a shadow from the ceilinglight behind your phone over your eyes

he noticed how you pupils dilated as they adjusted to the light everytime your moved your phone a bit

your eyes are cool af, woah

he turned to his side, still looking at your features while you scrolled on your phone

the song changed and this time it was you humming along

your voice is so nice, he thought to himself

his dreamy moment was interrupted by you looking at him

oh right- food

to his surprise you tell him you already ordered

‘What- what about me?’

you listed the things you ordered for him, saying how you definitely knew what he wanted by now

he was shocked

this man has been fantasizing and imagining his future love life for so long

not to the point where he’s yanking flowers apart to find out if you love him or not

but he sees the beauty in so many things

enjoys the warmth of the sun on his skin

likes to watch people going about their day and thinking what their life is like

leaves sweet notes on receipts for hardworking employees to find when they come clean his table

little things but a lot of things

he has an eye for beauty and knows exactly how to use it for his own happiness

so he quickly noticed how happy you made him

it was again, the little things

how your pinky finger was always a little higher than the rest when your hands were relaxed

how the cute baby hairs on the back of your neck would always leave your ponytail within minutes of putting your hair up

how your foot would bounce up and down when you sat with your legs crossed, even if there was no music

Hmm … Since I find the idea ofconceptual genders rather poetic (not recognized terms, but abstractdescriptions), I’ll give one of those: quirky and enthusiasticlanguage-literature-writing teacher who unironically uses a lot of Uncle Irohgifs and giggles like Scooby-Doo when someone make a particularly potent pun. Also, I’m a cis man with inclinations more towards non-toxic masculinity.

2. What are your pronouns?

He/His Grace, preferably, thoughI’ve no problem with people using Him or They/Them, I suppose.

3. Is your family accepting?

I’m fortunate enough to say theyare. Mom’s still worried about my spiritual and emotional well-being—about mefinding happiness, and worrying it might not happen like this—but that’s justwhat moms do.

4. What do you wish you could tell your past self?

Righteousness and Wickedness aresocial constructs propagated and perpetuated by authority figures to maintainan ideology which benefits them. So is “God the Father” (and Jesus Christ andthe Holy Ghost) as you conceive of them, or as anyone else ever conceives ofthem. You are *free* to do *whatever you want* so long as it doesn’t infringeon the freedom of others.

This means, boyo, that being gay isn’t a sin.Which is good, because you are gayer than a fruit bat. Just embrace it already,and you’ll be a lot more at peace with yourself and the universe.

5. What is your sexuality?

Hella gay,my dudes. Hella gay.If I wanted to expand further,I’d add placiosexual (I get off on pleasuring other people more than being pleasured).

6. Favorite color?

A deep and rich purple, like Tyrianor Imperial purple. Though I am increasingly fond of light pinks. And black is always in season.It’s funny, but as a kid I’d always say dark blue because I didn’t want peopleto think I was gay. Naturally, purple was the gay color, while blue was a safe“boy’s color” … for reasons … Isn’t heteronormativity absolutely silly?

7. Sun Gay or Moon Gay?

Moon, I guess? The sun is sogarishly bright. Even harshly so. But the moon is tastefully understated—just reallyelegant, y’know?—and also gentle and cyclical.

8. When did you find out your sexuality?

This is a rather difficult questionto tackle thanks to the cognitive dissonance imposed by heteronormativity …

Onsome level, I *had* to have known since I started masturbating regularly (atage 13 or 14), because I only ever fantasized about other boys and guys. And I *was*aware of this on some level. However, the very idea of being gay was soinconceivable for a mormon boy (and socially stigmatized thanks to thepejorative use of the word “gay” to mean basically “stupid” from elementarythrough high school), that I refused to recognize it for years. Like, I was soinvested in being a good, mormon boy that I truly fully planned to follow themormon track of serving a religious mission for 2 years, marrying a woman inthe temple (big thing for mormons, that temple marriage), and probablyeventually having a kid or two (though I’ve never actually wanted to havechildren).

Ergo, it wasn’t until I was 19 and on a mission in France, working and livingnonstop with other guys (most of whom were quite good-looking AND had notrouble lounging around in their underwear when we were at home), that I couldno longer lie to myself. That was when I consciously recognized and consciouslybegan to struggle against “the burden of Same Sex Attraction” (as mormons insiston calling it) through “the power of faith” in Ja-eeee-sus Chrys’theLORD.

You can extrapolate from the present-day contents of my blog (and the abovesarcasm) how successful that was. Honestly, I’m rather surprised thepsychological distress such internalized and slow-toxic homophobia caused neverdrove me to take a leap of faith off a building at some point between ages 20and 25.

But those dark days were over when, at 25, I fell in love for the first time,and decided that there wasn’t much sense in being miserable, self-loathing, andlonely anymore. That’s when I started the process of coming out.

So … take your pick, I guess: it’s 13, 19, or 25.

9. How was your day?

Apart from sleep deprivationweighing me down (which is my own fault, as I stayed up late writing, then hadto get up early to lesson plan), it was grand! Went to work in the afternoonand got a good workout there moving freight, then went to teach my French classin the evening and had a ball while doing it!

10. Do you have any gay friends?

Bitch, at this point, I’m wonderingif I have any *straight* friends.Seriously, though, I do have some straight friends. But my closest friends areall openly queer in one way or another.

11. What’s your favorite hobby?

Taekwon-Doand writing.

12. Who’s the best gay icon in your opinion?

Hard not to love the classic Gay Priderainbow, since it accessorizes with everything, though I prefer one thatexplicitly makes sure to include PoC, such as this one:

For the colors, the Bi and theTrans flags are quite lovely combinations, too.

14. Are you openly out?

More-or-less, and I think more thanless as time goes on. There are still bad days, but … once I understood thatbeing kind to people *also* means being kind to *myself*, it became a loteasier to become comfortable with myself. AND also easier to actually recognizeand work constructively on the parts of me I wished to improve.

16. Bottom or Top?

As a matter of principle, I striveto at least *be willing* to be verse—strive to never ask for anything I’m notwilling to give back, but … I definitely prefer to take charge and Top (evenwhen, or especially when, still giving manual or oral pleasure).Who knows, though? Maybe I just haven’t been topped right.

17. Femme or Butch?

Bold of you to assume I have aconsistent style.Seriously, though, im be Butch, I guess? I don’t really seek to present in afeminine way, so by default that make me Butch … Right? I dunno.

(obviously you haven’t, but trust me, they’requite pleasing assthetically)Unfortunately, he’s already married to another guy, who I hope knows he’sdamned lucky.

Alas, I donot. I’ve been somewhat unlucky in love.

Technically, I suppose I’ve been ontwo dates with women. For the first (a double date) we were theoretically goingto a high school dance … but none of us were really into that when we gotthere, so instead we just drove around in her truck and made her stuffedpenguin heckle other drivers. The second was a few years later, and we went to a young, single adults gameevening after having dinner with her family. Annnnnd … that’s it.

While I’ve never played the game,the most physically attractive one to me is the redheaded bear. Mostly becauseanyone else who might be physically attractive to me ruins the effect with amustache (THEY HAVEN’T BEEN STYLISH SINCE THE 70s, AND EVEN THEN THEY LOOKEDSTUPID!) or by being unrealistically sculpted (and I am *not* into that; I likemy men to look like they actually exist in the real world).

27. Tell me a random fact about yourself.

I have, like, over 20 neckties leftover from my mission days. I hardly ever use them anymore because I loathedressing up … but I have used them for some fun with other guys, and hope I getto do so again, soon.

28. Do you own any Pride flags/merch?

Just the rainbow bracelets picturedabove … and also a pair of rainbow socks, though those were actually procuredfor (not by) me … so I could officiate a *straight* couple’s marriage,ironically.

29. Have you ever been to a Pride Parade?

I’ve been to three. The first twowere … alright, I guess. Like, it was exciting to go to something so openlyqueer—so loud and proud—the first time (even if I had to hurry home for churchstuff for my little brother’s mission homecoming … let me tell you, that was a dayof extremes). And fun to go with my then boyfriend for the second.But … I dunno … There was a big crowd, and a lot of noise and heat (what withit being the middle of June). Introverted ol’ me wanted to go home—or at leastsomeplace quiet an cool—after about an hour, because the novelty had worn offby then.

The third, however …I was visiting my aunt in Washington D.C. That Sunday morning, we were walking tosome of the Smithsonian museums when we just happened, entirely by accident, tocross paths with the advancing Pride Parade. So we stopped and watched it for,like, half an hour … I suppose it was more of a March than a Parade,technically, which might be why it resonated with me more than the other twohad. 30. Any advice to someone who isn’t out, or who is exploringthemselves?

Two things: Go with what feels right for you. Your labels might or might not change, butyour understanding of what they mean for you definitely will develop and deepenover time (this is part of what “gender is fluid” means; it isn’t fixed and unchangeable,because *your identity* is neither fixed nor unchangeable). Be truthful enough withyourself to let it happen. Because in the end, the only wrong answer … is adishonest one.

Also, learn as much sympathy, empathy, compassion, and compersion as you canfrom your negative experiences. Like, it is inevitable that you will suffer inlife, so learn how to be aware of and kind towards the suffering of others.Exclusionists absolutely disgust me, because after suffering discrimination andoppression … they decide to put others through the same kind of needless pain.Gods above, life is hard enough as it is, so don’t go out of your way to makeit harder for others. Let your negative experiences motivate you to make sureno one else has to go through such bullshit ever again.

A/N: OHHHHH IM SO HAPPY…this is my first request, and S/O to Melaninstoryteller cause she’s sooo dope and she pitched me this request :3) luv u <3

Request / Summary: Can you write a fic about Christian Yu walking Lori, and he lets go of her leash. Then Y/N finds her, and she starts talking to Christian.

Of all days you can’t find your keys, it’s today. This week you promised yourself that you would get back on track with your ‘healthy lifestyle’ goals, and you wanted to kickstart your week with a jog. Today you’re especially pumped to go on a jog because the weather’s nice. Usually, the weather in Gangnam starts to hit the warmer temps of fall around this time which is perfect for you, but more importantly; you just got this dope ass workout apparel from Victoria’s Secret! Today, you decided to sport a pair of marble print hot shorts, a fleece v-back sweatshirt, and a white pair of Nike Roshe Ones. Every once in awhile, you would get distracted from looking for keys because you were to busy looking in the mirror. You were distracted because that outfit made you look extra thick, but since you were single; you were the only one who could appreciate the thickness.

“Shit, they were right here the whole time,” you say aloud when you find your keys lying on the counter behind your purse.

After a good 10 minute walk to the park, you decide to get your workout playlist ready for when you start to pick up the pace. This playlist consisted of a nice mixture of Korean and American artist, but DPR Live, one of your favorite artists, played a heavy presence in this mix. The park was relatively empty today, but there were still a few sightings of couples picnicking, ajusshi’s feeding fish at the pond, and cute small families playing together. Other than that, there were rarely any distractions. Once you hit the mile mark, you noticed that you’ve been jogging for about 15 minutes. Now, was about time for a water break and a quick stretching session. But before you could find a clear and open grassy area to do stretches, your favorite song came on, “Please” by DPR Live, so you had to take a moment to have a mini dance session. While you were in the middle of rapping the 2nd verse, you felt a soft and furry creature rub against your leg. As you looked down, you prayed it wasn’t a squirrel that rubbed against you, but you were pleased to be greeted by a Mini Pinscher laying on the grass looking up a you.

As you smiled back at the Mini Pin, you bent down to read her name tag, “Lori… you’re too cute to be left alone, and your owner must be crazy to leave you alone“.

You looked around to see if you noticed anyone nearby, but no one seemed to be looking for anything. Instead of looking for her owner, you decided to stay there for awhile and play together because you figured her owner would eventually show up calling her name. While you were in the middle of scratching Lori’s belly, you noticed her ears start to twitch as if something caught her attention.

“Loriiiiiii,” you heard a deep voice with an aussie accent yell.

When you turned around you saw a tall heavily tatted man wearing a black graphic t-shirt and a pair of gray Nike shorts with a man bun on his head. Your first impression of the man made your cheeks heat up because you suddenly felt overwhelmingly aware of how your ass looked. As you stood up, Lori started yapping aggressively in a cute manner which caught the man’s attention. Once he spotted the two of you, he rushed over and picked up Lori; then he greeted you.

“Lori, why did you run away from me?” You saw the man hug her tightly as he stood next to you. His arms appeared to be well built, and his tattoos seemed to intensify the effect they had on you. Suddenly, you felt slightly envious of Lori because of the care he seemed to show her as he embraced her.

“But it looks like you’ve found a pretty lady. A lady so pretty that I must take on a date.”

“And what might be the name of this mystery man who wants to take me on a date?”

You ask in a slightly flirtatious tone.

“Christian… but you can call me Ian. And maybe later you’ll call me your boyfriend.” He responds in an equally flirtatious tone, reaching in his pocket for his phone.

“Well, Ian you can call me Y/N, but what if I told you I already had someone to call mine?” Of course you wouldn’t reject his offer, but you just couldn’t pass up the offer of messing with him a bit. To you, this guy seemed to good to be true with his looks and all, so by now you’ve dubbed him a fuck boy.

“I guess I’d ask Lori why she would steal this pretty lady from me. My guess is that it’s because you two get along well, and my guess for that would be that you have a dog of your own at home.” Christian says as he runs his hand through his hair.

“Unfortunately, I don’t have a dog of my own. But lucky for you, I wouldn’t mind bringing Lori home. You, on the other hand, are another issue, and I guess it could be solved if I go on a date or two with you.” The amount of confidence you showed made you so proud of yourself, and you could tell it had an affect on Ian by the way he was biting his lip.

After a few more minutes of talking and exchanging contact info, you and Ian decided on a date at the zoo. Ian offered to walk you home, and on you way back you two did a bit of small talk. While you were chatting Christian tried to sweet talk you.

“You know I could buy you any animal you want.” He said as you two approached the front door to your condo. He looked at you in a relax manner, yet he still seem to anticipate what you would say next.

“Why would I want them if I got you?” You told Ian as you pecked him on his lips after unlocking your door and gently shutting it in his face.

I love that this series has three couples in different stages of a relationship: one who’ve been together for years and love each other like well-worn grooves; one who have history but have only just recently begun a relationship and are discovering each other anew; and one who probably will not bring themselves to share a kiss for another 27 calendar years.

Narumi/Hirotaka: Honestly, the main couple of a series usually goes over my head a bit, but the more i thought about these two the more wretchedly fond of them I became. The thing I think of the most is how Narumi taught him how to smile as a child; how she did things that meant nothing to her, so easily does kindness come, but that meant so much to him; and how now that they are grown, he does things for her that take no effort, but shake her foundations. I think theirs is a love that grows quietly; something that cannot change the world, but can change them.

Koyanagi/Kabakura: My thoughts on these two are not complex, but they are deeply positive. I love how huge their personalities are, and how they fit around and against each other; I love the implication that despite their endless bickering, they are not an on-again-off-again kind of relationship, and have instead chosen each other over and over again for ten straight years. I love that despite everything, they are kind to each other, first and foremost; they find ways to apologise and to take care of each other, and treat each other gently in private.

Kou/Naoya: I love every ship in this manga equally but perhaps I love Kou/Naoya more equally than the other two? They are just so kind and so silly, and so sweet to each other in exactly the way both of them didn’t realise they were missing. I think about Naoya being told that Kou is “okay with being alone”, and realising that “okay with it” and “have accepted it” are different, and taking his little baby steps to fix it. I think about Kou giving Naoya every last drop of patience he’s trained himself not to accept, and doing so because it simply makes her happy. My only concern is that they are both bottoms. I don’t have a solution for this.

Sometimes you live most of your life without the presence of the other half of your literal soul and when you find him it’s like discovering true happiness for the first time, and that’s valid? Some people brazenly sacrifice themselves for the chance to spend a last moment with their soulmate to cope??

i haven’t, uh, played this game? and i have not, in fact, watched anyone else play this game. but really, i don’t know that fire emblem is a thing you understand with your mind so much as it is a thing you feel with your soul. and i feel that ferdinand and hubert are in love.

fandom specific DNW: i am not a huge fan of how the game handled its fantasy racism, so if you could sort of avoid that whole situation, that’d be great. literally would love an AU where ingrid and hilda aren’t racist.

Ferdinand/Hubert: THEY LIKE EACH OTHER SO MUCH AND IT’S SO VERY EMBARRASSING FOR BOTH OF THEM, just terrible, i can barely bring myself to look upon it. An important part of their rls to me is that they both have other things they value far more than each other, on an intrinsic, instinctive level; it does not make them love each other less, just differently. They are both so very dramatic in different, equally stupid, ways. ferdinand has one dimple in his right cheek, emits UV rays when he smiles, and loves horses and singing. hubert is sexy but in a way mostly reminiscent of the empty shed skin of a venomous spider. together, they fight classism

i laughed for 2 straight minutes about there being no klapollo in the noms but this is fine, narumitsu is good. a thing I think about a lot re: narumitsu is that they are one of those love stories where, like, yes they’re in love. that’s not the problem. no matter what conflicts arise, or for what reasons they cannot be together, the fact that they are in love, and choose to remain in love, is never even doubted. i just really want to assert that i do not personally believe that miles nor phoenix have ever done anything on purpose in their lives except continue to be in love with each other.

Day 2: Recs!

Because Klaineship is a translator, this is in two languages so it’s long and I’ve needed to put it under a cut tag after the first one. But I really recommend clicking through!!

Okay, so let me start with the translation I am most proud of. It's @adiwriting 's 'Hearing Verse' about Deaf!Blaine. I collected all her Tumblr and AO3 posts and one inspired work by @justasmallbloginabigklainefandom into one big 63-chapter-piece (over 150.000 words) It's called 'Musik nur, wenn sie laut ist'

What I love the most about this fic is, that it tells Kurt's and Blaine's story from their first meeting through their whole life until they are both old men. In the beginning there is a lot of struggling on both sides to overcome the differences between their lives and experiences as a Deaf-Hearing-Couple. Alongside Kurt I got a deep insight into a world I didn't know existed. It's called Deaf Culture. I had to do a lot of research to get everything right and I really love the German title that came instantly to my mind, when I'd started reading this Verse. It's the title of a song from the 80s by the German singer and songwriter Herbert Grönemeier , that tells the story of a Deaf girl, who 'listens' to music as loudly as possible (as does Blaine in the story as well) to feel the beats of the bass guitar and the drums vibrating through her body.

It's hard to choose a favourite part from such a long story, but I'd say it's already in chapter 3 called 'Versprecher' (Fumbling). I'll add the original part for those of you who can't speak German. ;-) (the ASL signing is written in CAPS LOCK) and if you want to check out why Kurt's fumbling here you may read the footnotes of chapter 3. ;-)

U-M-Z-I-E-H-E-N ? buchstabiert Kurt und nachdem Blaine ihm die Gebärde für 'umziehen' gezeigt hat, nickt er und wird ganz aufgeregt, als wolle er ihm eine richtig tolle Story erzählen.

ICH ZIEHE IM AUGUST NACH NEW YORK. ICH GEHE ZU N-Y-A-D-A SCHULE . ICH STUDIERE SCHAUSPIEL ! Er gebärdet mit solcher Begeisterung, dass Blaine ihm noch nicht mal wegen seiner schlampigen Gebärden einen Vorwurf machen kann, denn sein Enthusiasmus ist einfach ansteckend.

WOW , gebärdet Blaine, er muss die Tatsache erst mal verdauen, dass Kurt tatsächlich zum Ende des Sommers auch nach New York ziehen wird. Die ganze Zeit hat er sich ausgeredet, Kurt auf ein Rendezvous einzuladen, weil er sich kurz vor dem Abschluss nicht an jemanden binden wollte, aber jetzt gibt es dafür keine Entschuldigung mehr.

GRATULIERE , fährt Blaine fort, als Kurt ihm seinen Kaffee in die Hand drückt. ICH ZIEHE AUCH NACH NEW YORK . ICH BIN AN DER N-Y-U ANGENOMMEN WORDEN .

WIRKLICH ? Kurt strahlt übers ganze Gesicht und Blaine liebt diesen Anblick. Er fragt sich, wie es wohl wäre, mit Kurt zusammen zu sein und derjenige zu sein, der ihm jeden Tag aufs Neue dieses Lächeln entlocken kann. ICH WILL SEX IN NEW YORK.

Blaine ist so überrascht und schockiert, dass er sich an seinem Kaffee verschluckt und sich heftig hustend an der Theke abstützen muss. Kurt eilt vor die Theke zu ihm, klopft ihm auf den Rücken und schaut ihn betroffen, aber vollkommen unschuldig an, so, als hätte er nicht gerade gesagt, dass er Sex sucht.

BIST DU IN ORDNUNG ?

DU WILLST SEX IN NEW YORK ? vergewissert sich Blaine noch einmal und betet, dass keiner seiner Freunde ausgerechnet jetzt durch die Tür hereinkommt. Sie würden ihn ewig damit aufziehen.

JA ? gebärdet Kurt, als wäre Blaine verrückt, weil er das so überraschend findet. Es ist nicht so, dass er sich Kurt nicht als sexuelles Wesen vorgestellt hat – seine Gedanken sind sogar viele, viele Male in diese Richtung gewandert, jedes Mal, wenn er die Duschen für sich alleine hatte – aber er hat Kurt nicht als den Typen eingeschätzt, der so offen darüber spricht.

ICH BIN ÜBERRASCHT DASS DU MIR DAS ERZÄHLST. ICH HABE ES NICHT ERWARTET , erklärt Blaine, und versucht, die peinliche Situation einigermaßen zu entschärfen. Kurt muss annehmen, dass er total naiv ist. Wenn er nicht vorher schon dachte, dass Blaine noch ein Kind ist, dann mit Sicherheit jetzt.

ICH WILL SEX IN NEW YORK ? JA. WARUM S-O-L-L-T-E ICH DORT ZUR SCHULE GEHEN , WENN NICHT LERNEN WIE SEX ?

Ungefähr in der Hälfte von Kurts drolligem Versuch, einen richtig langen Satz zu gebärden, fällt bei Blaine der Groschen und es dämmert ihm, dass da wohl ein Missverständnis vorliegt. Er beginnt zu lachen. SEX ? gebärdet er und wartet, bis Kurt nickt, dann buchstabiert er es: S-E-X ? WAS ? NEIN ! antwortet Kurt, er schaut sich hektisch im Laden um und wird feuerrot. DU HAST S-E-X GEBÄRDET , erklärt Blaine, und kann nicht aufhören zu lachen. DU SAGTEST DU WILLST SEX IN NEW YORK . NEIN ! Kurt schaut entsetzt und Blaine findet die ganze Sache absolut liebenswert. A-R-B-E-I-T . ARBEIT , korrigiert ihn Blaine und zeigt ihm, wie die Gebärde richtig aussieht, und während er noch vor wenigen Wochen ziemlich genervt gewesen wäre, ist es um ehrlich zu sein ein Fehler, der jedem unterlaufen könnte, der es nicht besser weiß.

SCHON GUT . ES IST WITZIG , gebärdet er, als Kurts Gesicht immer noch keine Anstalten macht, wieder seine übliche Färbung anzunehmen. WITZIG NEIN . ICH VERSUCHE DICH B-E-E-I-N-D-R-U-C-K-E-N .Blaine versteht sofort, was Kurt buchstabiert, aber irgendwo vorher muss er wohl was falsch verstanden haben. Wenn Blaine schon zögert, mit einem hörenden Jungen auszugehen, dann hat Kurt sicherlich kein Interesse daran, mit jemandem zu gehen, der taub ist. MICH BEEINDRUCKEN ? WARUM ? fragt er und hält den Atem an. DU BIST SÜSS .

* * M-O-V-I-N-G? Kurt spells and once Blaine teaches him the sign for moving, Kurt nods and gets excited like he’s about to tell him some really good piece of gossip. I MOVE TO NEW YORK IN AUG. I GO TO N-Y-A-D-A SCHOOL. I STUDY DRAMA! He signs so excitedly that Blaine can’t even lecture him for his sloppy signing because his enthusiasm is just so damn contagious.

WOW, Blaine signs, letting it sink in that Kurt’s actually going to be moving to New York as well at the end of the summer. While he’d been talking himself out of asking Kurt out because he didn’t want to get attached to anybody this close to graduation, he didn’t have an excuse anymore. CONGRATULATIONS, Blaine continues as Kurt hands him his coffee. I’M MOVING TO NEW YORK, TOO. I GOT ACCEPTED INTO N-Y-U. REALLY? He signs, his face lighting up in a way that Blaine just loves. He wonders what it would be like to date Kurt, to be able to be the one to make him smile like that all of the time. I WANT SEX IN NEW YORK. Blaine’s so shocked and caught by surprise that he actually chokes on his coffee and has to hold onto the countertop while he coughs heavily. Kurt rushes around to stand beside him and pat him on the back, giving him a concerned, but completely innocent look like he hadn’t just implied that he was looking for sex. YOU OK? YOU WANT SEX IN NEW YORK? Blaine signs again, praying that none of his friends will chose this exact moment to walk in the door. They’ll never let him live it down. YES? he signs like Blaine’s somehow crazy for finding that surprising. It’s not that he’s never thought of Kurt as a sexual being — he’s thought of him that way many, many times, whenever he can get the showers to himself — but he didn’t like Kurt was the type to talk about it so openly. I’M JUST SURPRISED YOU TOLD ME THAT. I WASN’T EXPECTING IT, Blaine explains, trying to make up for the amount of embarrassment he just caused. Kurt must think he’s completely naive now. If he didn’t think Blaine was a kid before, he certainly will now. I WANT SEX IN NEW YORK? YES. WHY W-O-U-L-D I GO TO SCHOOL THERE, IF NOT LEARN HOW TO SEX?” It’s about halfway through Kurt’s adorable attempt at signing a long sentence that things start to click in Blaine’s mind and he realizes that they’ve probably had some sort of misunderstanding along the way. He starts to laugh. SEX? He signs and waits for Kurt to nod before spelling it out. S-E-X? WHAT? NO! Kurt signs, looking around the shop frantically and turning beet red. YOU SIGNED S-E-X, he explains, unable to stop laughing. YOU SAID YOU WANT SEX IN NEW YORK. NO! Kurt looks horrified and he can’t help but find the entire thing adorable. W-O-R-K. WORK, Blaine corrects him and shows him the proper way to sign it and while several weeks ago he would have been annoyed, it honestly is an easy mistake for somebody who doesn’t know any better. IT’S OK. IT’S CUTE, he signs when Kurt’s face shows no sign of going back to its normal color. CUTE NO. I TRY I-M-P-R-E-S-S YOU, Kurt signs. Blaine understands what Kurt’s spelling immediately, but he’s still sure that he’s misunderstood somewhere along the line. As much as Blaine’s reluctant to date a hearing guy, he’s sure that Kurt has no interest in dating somebody who’s Deaf. IMPRESS ME? WHY? he asks, holding his breath for the answer. YOU’RE CUTE. Tell us what inspired you to translate this I just had translated 4 or 5 works up to that time and I loved the story and most of the chapters are less than 2000 words so I thought it was a good chance to see if I could go through with such a big project. I started posting in July 2016 when I was 10 chapters into the story with translating and managed to post at least once a week, so by March 2017 it was finished. What me inspired the most was the real life aspect of the story. It's an up and down of happy, sad, desperate, funny and every day family life with everything in between. And Kurt and Blaine as Dads of three girls are just priceless.

@flamingmuse is one of my absolute favorite authors when it comes to canon compliant stories (though I also love her 'Near Misses'-AU). We share an endless love for Kurt E.Hummel and the way she describes him is 100 % my head canon. For me the translation has been a big deal because it was the first time for me to translate explicit sex scenes. I didn't have a beta back then and I think I edited it a thousand times before I finally dared to post it.

Nur wenige Stunden später fällt es Kurt wie Schuppen von den Augen. Nicht wegen Blaine, der nach der Verkündung der Abschlussballkönigin im Schulflur unerschütterlich ist und unglaublich lieb auf der Tanzfläche, sondern wegen all der Anderen.

Menschen ändern sich nicht einfach. Er müsste es eigentlich wissen, denn er ändert sich schließlich auch nicht, aber er war so naiv gewesen, zu glauben, dass er auch in dieser Hinsicht anders wäre. Hoffnung kann so verführerisch sein.

Er betrachtet sich in seinem Ankleidespiegel, bevor er sein Abschlussball-Outfit auszieht und fragt sich, was seine Mitschüler sehen, das er nicht sieht. Ja, er trägt einen Kilt, aber das ist ein Kleidungsstück für Männer. Selbst wenn er das ein oder andere Teil aus einer Damenkollektion trug, war er darunter immer ganz klar männlich gewesen. Er hat niemals versucht, ein Mädchen zu sein. Er ist kein Mädchen.

Kurts Augen sehen Männerschultern, einen maskulinen Brustkorb, den leichten Schatten von Barthaar auf einem männlich markanten Kinn. Er hat die Frisur eines Mannes und seine sehnige Kraft. Er hat einen männlichen Adamsapfel, die Hüften eines Mannes und die ganz und gar nicht zierlichen Füße eines Mannes.

Seine Stimme, sein Stil und sein Herz machen Kurt nicht weiblich. Sie machen ihn nicht zu einer Königin, welchen Sinn man diesem Wort auch immer geben mag.

Aber wenn seine Umgebung ihn ansieht, wird ihm klar – erinnert er sich – dann sieht sie anscheinend etwas anderes.

The scales fall from Kurt's eyes mere hours later. Not about Blaine, who is steadfast in the hallway after the announcement of Prom Queen and kind beyond belief on the dance floor, but about everything else.

People don't change. He should know that, because he doesn't change, but he'd foolishly thought that he was different in that regard, too. Hope is such a seductive emotion.

He looks at himself in the full-length mirror before he takes off his prom outfit and wonders what his classmates see that he does not. Yes, he's wearing a kilt, but that's a man's garment. Even when he's worn women's pieces, he's still clearly been male beneath. He's never once tried to be a girl. He isn't one.

To his eyes, Kurt has a man's shoulders, a man's chest, and a man's faint scratch of stubble on a man's jaw line. He has a man's hair, a man's height, and a man's wiry strength. He has a man's Adam's apple, a man's hips, and a man's in no way dainty feet.

His voice, his style, and his heart do not make Kurt female. They do not make him a queen in any sense of the word.

But when the world looks at him, he realizes - he remembers - they must see something different.

Tell us what inspired you to translate this

When I first read this fic I'd been instantly captivated by flamingmuse's talent in explaining what's going on in Kurt's mind. Through her eyes I could finally understand why he acted the way he did. His brittleness, his snarky way, his closed-off-ness (is that a word?). She let it all seem completely clear to me. So this is why it's been one of the first stories I'd felt the need to translate, but because of said sex scenes I procrastinated it a bit and it took me half a year to finally post it.

# 3: Translation of another AU I instantly fell in love with. It's @itslaurastone 's 'Where There's Smoke' on AO3 about Firefighter!Blaine

Tell us what else you love about the story, and what you love about your translation of it

I come from a firefighter background myself, so it's been interesting to compare German and American firefighter-specifics and explain them to German readers. On my German fanfic account I gave it a German title. There it's called 'Wo Rauch ist, ist auch Feuer' . This story had some tricky puns and quite challenging long nested sentences (can you say that? In German it would be 'Schachtelsätze') in a very poetic language that challenged my translating skills a lot and for those who know the story..... there is a poem I had to translate as well. Fortunately from chapter 11 on I had a wonderful beta, @klaine-rants, who also happened to be very knowledgeable about American Football and together we did quite a good job if I may say so. (including a hot shower sex scene ;-)) an example:

Blaine got to his feet in one fluid motion, curling his body around Kurt's back to kiss and nip along the edge of Kurt's shoulder, giving Kurt a wonderful view of his long lashes, heavy with moisture and fanned out slightly across his cheeks. He felt his breath hitch as his heart clenched in his chest.

Blaine kam mit einer einzigen eleganten Bewegung auf die Beine und schmiegte sich an Kurts Rücken, um seine Schulter küssen und beknabbern zu können und er erlaubte Kurt einen wunderbaren Blick auf seine langen Wimpern, benetzt mit Wassertröpfchen und Fächern gleich auf seinen Wangen ausgebreitet. Kurt stockte der Atem und sein Herz setzte einen Schlag aus.

"Oh, mich werden sie für gar nichts halten. Uns werden sie für dankbare Bürger halten, die sich den unbesungenen Helden von New York City erkenntlich zeigen."

Kurt schnaubte verächtlich und drehte sich auf dem Barstuhl um, um sich weiter mit ihr zu unterhalten, während sie sich die Haare vor dem Badezimmerspiegel richtete. "Du willst ja nur diesen Feuerwehrmann, der dich wegen", er deutete mit den Fingern Anführungszeichen an, " 'einer möglichen Rauchvergiftung' genauestens untersucht hat, mit deinen überragenden Hausfrauenqualitäten beeindrucken."

Sie lehnte sich aus dem Türrahmen und fixierte Kurt mit einem sartanischen Grinsen. "Oh, fängst du jetzt damit an, Kurt? Denn dann werd ich dir jetzt auch mal was erzählen." Sie schob die Hüfte vor und zeigte mit ihrer Haarbürste direkt auf ihn. "Du hast gesagt, du willst, dass er wiederkommt und dich rettet."

Kurt stotterte: "Das hab' ich nicht! Ich habe nur gemeint ...oh, Gott!" Er verbarg stöhnend das Gesicht in beiden Händen. "Hab ich das? Ich weiß nicht, was in mich gefahren ist, er ist einfach ..... Ich steh nicht auf dieses 'Jungfrau in Nöten Ding', überhaupt nicht. Es ist nur .... Locken! Und diese Hosen. Und sein Lächeln, bitte sag mir, dass dir sein Lächeln aufgefallen ist?"

Rachel schaltete das Badezimmerlicht aus, kam die paar Schritte auf Kurt zu und nahm ihn fest in den Arm. "Er war wirklich süß und er schien nett zu sein. Ich versteh dich ja."

Kurt fuhr sich ächzend mit beiden Händen übers Gesicht. "Ich kann dort nicht aufkreuzen. Ich kann einfach nicht. Wahrscheinlich wird seine kesse, wunderhübsche Freundin hereinschneien, sie werden sich vor meinen Augen küssen und er wird ihr genau dann und dort einen Antrag machen und es wird ein weiterer Beweis sein, dass ich die schreckliche Angewohnheit habe, mich immer wieder zu Kerlen hingezogen zu fühlen, die ich nicht haben kann."

Finn, Sam, der gutaussehende, verführerische Spanier aus seinem zweiten Jahr an der NYADA, der unglaublich heiße, junge Mann aus Wyoming mit dem zähen Südstaatenakzent und jetzt ein Feuerwehrmann. Footballspieler, ein Ausländer mit Oldtimer-Motorrad, ein Cowboy und ein Feuerwehrmann – jetzt fehlten ihm nur noch ein Indianer und ein Polizist und er hätte die 'Village People' komplett.

Rachel gab ihm einen Klaps aufs Knie. "Nein, Schluss damit. Es ist viel zu lange her, dass du überhaupt an jemandem Interesse gezeigt hast, seit der Sache mit Thomas. Du musst dich einfach der Welt stellen. Hör nicht jetzt auf, wo die Sache gerade erst ins Rollen kommt!"

“You're going to look like a deranged Red Riding Hood skipping into the station house with that, Rach.”

“Oh, I am not going to look like anything. We are going to look like grateful citizens, thanking the unsung heroes of New York City.”

Kurt snorted and spun around on the bar stool to continue talking to Rachel as she primped in the bathroom mirror. “You just want that fireman that checked you over for,” he made finger quotes in the air, “'possible smoke inhalation' to see your amazing house-keeping skills.”

Rachel leaned her head out of the doorway and affixed Kurt with a droll expression. “Do you want me to go there, Kurt? Because I will so go there.” She jutted her hip out and pointed her hairbrush at Kurt's face. “You said you wanted him to come back and save you.”

Kurt sputtered, “I did not! I just meant...oh, god!” Kurt covered his face with both hands with a groan. “Did I? I don't know what has gotten into me, he just... I don't have a damsel in distress thing, I don't. It's just...curls! And those pants. And that smile, please tell me you noticed that smile?”

Rachel switched off the bathroom light, and crossed the small space to give Kurt a tight hug. “He was really cute, and seemed nice. I don't blame you.”

Kurt scrubbed his face with both hands, groaning. “I can't show up, I just can't. I'm going to see his beautiful, perky girlfriend bounce in, and they'll kiss in front of me, and he'll probably propose right then and there, and it will just be further proof that I have a terrible habit of being attracted to guys that I can't have.”

Finn, Sam, the handsome and alluring Spanish boy from his sophomore year at NYADA, the incredibly sexy young man from Wyoming with a drawl that was thick like honey, and now a fireman. Football jocks, a foreigner with a vintage motorcycle, a cowboy and now a fireman. Throw in a Native American and a cop and he'd collect the whole Village People set.

Rachel slapped at his knee lightly. “Nope, no more of that. It's been too long since you even showed interest in anyone since Thomas. You just need to put yourself out there more. Don't stop now when you're just building momentum!”

Tell us what inspired you to translate this

There are two aspects that made me love this story from the beginning.

One is the firefighter aspect. It required much less internet research than the Hearing Verse, because I am familiar with the topic.

Second is the wonderful mix of utterly adorable, sweet and funny moments with really tough and hurtfull stuff. Kurt and Blaine fall for each other right from the beginning, but it takes them 3 1/2 chapters to finally go out on their first date. Both of them have been deeply hurt in the past and are very careful of giving their heart away. And then there is some Burt and Finn as well and that is a treat I could never resist.

#4 is the translation of @wowbright 's 'How Hard You're Trying', Part 26 of my 'Best-Of-Missing-Scenes- Staffel 3', a collection of my favorite missing scenes written by different authors to fill in all the gaps and voids of logic.

Tell us what else you love about the story, and what you love about your translation of it

It deals with the fact that Mr Schue has been elected 'Teacher of the Year'. Though we all know that Will Schuester is far from a good and inspiring teacher, Glee always wanted to tell us how great he is. And Kurt, though rolling his eyes at almost everything Will says in Glee during all three seasons seems to be perfectly happy with him being 'Teacher of the Year' as well. This story tells in a very comprehensible way Kurt's thoughts and struggles concerning the voting.

"Weißt du", sagt Kurt und reibt die Nase an Blaines Schulter. "Vor einem Jahr hätte ich wahrscheinlich für Coach Sylvester gestimmt. Also – als Lehrerin des Jahres meine ich."

"Wirklich?", fragt Blaine. "Aber sie ist so schrecklich."

"Ja, ich weiß. Aber sie war die einzige Lehrkraft, die wirklich wusste, was sie tun sollte, als David mich gemobbt hat."

Blaine reibt mit dem Daumen über Kurts Ellbogen.

"Und außerdem – obwohl sie gemein und fürchterlich ist und auch nach drei Jahren immer noch nicht meinen Namen gelernt hat – hat sie mir zugetraut, die Cheerios zu einem nationalen Titel zu führen. Ich kann mir nicht vorstellen, dass Mr Schuester das je tun würde. So sehr er auch immer davon redet, wie toll es ist, anders zu sein, hat er doch keinen Schimmer, was er mit meiner Stimme anfangen soll."

Blaine seufzt. "Du hast so viel Besseres verdient, Kurt. Du bist der einzige von uns mit einem Stimmumfang über drei Oktaven."

Blaine sighs. "You deserve so much better, Kurt. You're the only one of us that has a three-octave vocal range."

Kurt kisses Blaine's collarbone. "I had a lot of hope when I first joined Glee Club. There were only five of us, and only two of us were boys, and I – I'm glad that the other guys are in it, too, but it's just like Mr. Schue fell in love with Finn and that was that. Well, not in love – but you know what I mean."

Tell us what inspired you to translate this

Like the other parts of my Missing-Scenes-Collection this story remediates the fact that the Glee writers often messed up gloriously. Sometimes due to time restrictions, or to serve the plot or the dramatic arc (like making Blaine a junior all of a sudden) or maybe because they just forgot (like Blaine's Sadie Hawkins-trauma). I don't think I could love this show as much as I do, if it just was the Glee story and nothing else. It's fanfiction what made the Klaine story so precious to me. All the little glimpses into their heads and hearts, all the missing scenes, comprehensible explanations of completely unlogical actions ..... all the inspirational sparks those authors came up with.

I wanted to share this with my German readers and they like it quite a lot. There is a lot of discussion and ranting about plot lines in the comments for my translations.

RED REVIEW

I don’t know I’m just in the mood. I’ve listened to all of Taylor’s song’s endlessly but what do I think of them now in comparison to when I first heard them. It’s also good bc I haven’t properly listened to this one all the way through for a while. I deleted a bunch of music from my phone to have space for pictures when I went to a concert back in May. And I’ve been listening to recent stuff recently (not just Taylor). But this also makes it better…bc I feel like you can appreciate music even more sometimes when you haven’t heard it in a while

Anyways longest intro ever, I am pressing shuffle and to the music we go

Maybe one of the reasons this is the first album I feel like doing this with is because it’s fall and its gorgeous outside and ofc RED is the autumn album.

1st Song Holy Ground:

I have to pause this immediately because I find this ironic - the rumored person that this song is about is everywhere on social media right now (congrats on your engagement). This song grew on me (to have background on me I LOVE slow songs so certain fast songs can take a while to grow on me…this was one of them). This one has a good beat to it.

I think I like the song best starting at the second verse, and the line “Spinning like a girl in a brand new dress” FAVORITE PART. You know this song got me dancing in my bed right now.This is the song when you have a bad day and you just need to let it go - this is that song to go to.

Song 2 Everything Has Changed:

My heart - It has melted and the song hasn’t even started. I remember when we saw the photos of them working together and I freaked out. Their voices sound so good together. The lines about the walls always stick out and I don’t know why and now it’s also making me think about cold as you. *Bridge starts* *Rolls eyes back* there’s no much to say about this one. It’s just beautiful. Well written, beautiful music, simple, a wonderful feeling. (Which I can not relate to lol I haven’t liked someone in like 4/5 years what) but still amazing

Song 3 - Sad, Beautiful, Tragic:

Wow soo beautiful. FUn fact senior year of high school I auditioned with this song to sing as a solo during our choir concert. I didn’t get a solo, which was fine with me but I was proud I went up and auditioned (I was so sick during this time too so I don’t know how on point my vocals were - they were probs fine but nothing spectacular) afterwards one girl was talking to me about Taylor and it made both of us happy.

Another one of my favs. I feel like this one is underappreciated. I don’t know how to describe any of my favs atm wow I suck at this. I love the feel of the train at the beginning. The feeling of coming and going.

Distance, timing, break down, fighting… silence - wow. When it was there the lyrics really were a masterpiece on this album. Her voice is so soft on this song. When I think of this song I think of a letter, antique video playing of the amazing times, but also the emptiness in the goodbye.

Song 4 - IKYWT:

A BOP. I remember in high school, hating when people would laugh at the goat version. Now I can appreciate it. But I was just like don’t go at my girl. This music video - the talking part - important. One of my favorite lines is “A new notch in your belt is all I’ll ever be.” Also wow thinking about the intro of this

5th -RED:

a good song I sometimes forget about. "Remembering him comes in flashbacks and echoes... when I see it all in my head BURNING RED LOVING HIM WAS RED OH LOSING HIM WAS BLUE LIKE I NEVER KNOWN..." THE BEST PART

6th - State of Grace:

an amazing song to start the album with. (Why am I blanking did she open with this during RED - my mind blanks the most on the RED tour). The LYRICS. The build-up. (How do I describe what I see in my head) it's almost like an Ariel shoot?? Surprisingly the second verse is my favorite part of this song - the lyrics. "Mosaic broken hearts". The bringer was still amazing tho.

7th The Last Time:

I'm listening to this. I've always liked the last time, it has a good rhythm to it and I always enjoy singing it. But it's very different than her other songs which I've seemed to forget. This song is SOFT but it also has a build to it which if your heart broken you can scream along to this. THIS IS THE LAT TOME IM ASKING YOU THIS. Girl move on he doesn't deserve you. You should always be there if he cares. RIP. That's when you know you're losing someone. I'm realizing right now that this album has the most collabs too I never thought of that before. I think bc I always think of ed first but even so, I feel like her collabs on her albums are different than when other ppl have collabs on their albums.

Wow, Treacherous came on and for a second I thought it was state of grace again... 😧. This was my og FAV. ALSO, HER OUTFIT EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS BEING PERFORMED WAS BEAUTIFUL. Tell me why I'm a sucker for slow songs. But there was something different about this song. It's sooo stripped back. The backing male vocals on this is SO IMPORTANT. A great song to show off her vocal ability. This is like the build-up to IKYWT but it went wrong. (Just realized I listened to the demo instead of the og song

Girl at home: if I'm being honest this is one of my least favorite. Lyrically I'm like 🙃. Musically it's fine. I think it's just not as deep as I would like. Would group with speak now bonus tracks which aren't my fav either. But it's also something about the word stupid. Idk there are certain words in songs. Then again the moment I knew says birthday and I enjoy that song. Idk. Lesson learned ofc is my fav part.

9th Come Back…Be Here:

MY FAVORITE SONG OFF THE ALBUM. I don't know what about this song it's so pretty. This is falling in love in the cruelest way ughhh. I think it's a combo of probs the guy I liked in high school. Harry. The music in general. Her voice. Idk all of it. But it tends to fall behind enchanted when I think of my all time fav tay songs. Idk I just REALLY REALLY RWALLY EEALLY LIKE this song

The Moment I Knew:

This song is raw. You get a very clear picture of what may have happened. And you're just sad for Taylor. This is one of those moments when you don't want it to take over you but you feel like everything has shattered. I imagine her spinning around, everything is spinning and everything is crashing because she can't find him. This album really is all over the place. With the styles. The things you forget when you listen to it all together for the first time in a while. I tend to shuffle all of her songs. Or the albums I was listening to during the summer were 1989 and fearless on shuffle.

11 - The Lucky One:

I need to watch the RED tour footage of this bc I can only partially remember it and I feel like it needs to be appreciated. This has always been a mid-tier song

Begin Again:

always one of my fav. Slow, but this one is happy. AlsoCAN WE TALKABOUT THE PURPLE DRESS BECAUSE THAT WAS GORGEOUS. This song is also growth in Taylor like she's able to start moving on and there's this beautiful new hope. Regardless if she dated this guy anymore.

aka the song of the year from aug 2017-Sep 2018. Been sending this to everyone on their special day. "Whose Taylor swift anyways" I love her. If you're just looking for a good time - look no further.

14th- We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together:

probs my least fav music video BUT I LOVE how it was filmed. Weeee---ee the best part. "Like ever" "with some indie record that's much cooler than mine" and ofc the talking part during the bridge all good lines. This was one of those songs. Love it or hate it it's stuck in your head and you low key like it. I like how raspy and deep the end gets.

All too well:

I need a moment of silence. And the FULL version of the song. The B asEST song off the album. Beautiful. Grammy performance SPECTACULAR BEAUTIFUL WONDERFUL HEARTWARMING. AND HER DRESS GORGEOUS. WOWOWOWOWOWW The most autumn song on the album.

I Almost Do:

I think when this first came out that I struggle between which I liked more I almost do and all too well. Now it's no question. But again. A. Goood. Song. Just not as complex.,, I like the line never ever occurred to you bc wanegbt.

Starlight:

For whatever reason, I always group this song along with stay stay stay and The Lucky One and out of the three this one is my favorite. Good beat. Happy.

Stay Stay Stay:

Not my favorite. I like that it has a country vibe. I feel like similar to girl at home, it’s not as complex as I would like it. With that said we have “self-indulgent takers.” The grocery line always sticks out to me. If I’m in the mood its happy bop. The bridge - again is my favorite part

What city tunnels?”

Reno and Leon shared a look. “Well, Rude, you see… there’sa serious of old tunnels beneath the city that date back to the pre-wardays.”

“…What,” Rude deadpanned.

Reno grinned. “And the Wolves use them as passageways.”

“So you let them have the tunnels to… give them a fightingchance?” Rude questioned.

i really enjoy the intimacy involved in acts of service, and there’s always something so small and treasured about shaving,,,the trust involved in letting someone that close to your face with a knife, the intimacy in being no more than a couple of breaths away from each other, the faith that the other person won’t fuck up your face by giving you a weird shave -- i just love the layers to shaving someone else,,,and i just had to make it buckytony. this is a really short fic (as most of my fics are) but i really love it

2. broken pieces (me and you) fit together perfectly - samrhodey, mcu, developing relationship, post IW, 1.5k, K+

After Thanos, after the Snap, after Sam loses everything familiar, he finds Jim.

AU-gust Day 5: Post Apocalyptic AU

i really enjoy samrhodey, i really enjoy the idea of Rhodey only being a couple year’s ahead of Sam and Sam having a big crush on him, i really like the idea of both of them bonding when they join the Avengers post AoU, i really like the idea of this simple, easy relationship developing between them in this very soft and understated way, but ive never actually written them before this fic - which is why im so proud of this fic, because i like the story ive weaved here

3. princely duties - thortony, mcu, asgardian tony AU, meet cute, 1.6k, K+

Thor Odinson, Crown Prince of the Realm of Asgard, Brother of Loki the Silvertongue, son to Frigga the Kind and Odin the Great, was known for a great many things.

He was known for his great looming stature, stranding tall and proud even for an Asgardian, with muscles that rippled and tensed as he walked. He was known for his illustrious hair, a thick blond mane that he'd taken a vow to never cut, braided and cascading down his shoulders in thick waves. He was known for his might on the battlefield, for the terror he struck through the heart of his enemies when he called lighting itself down to rain fire on those who dared oppose him.

He was known for being a gentle prince, for always having an ear open and the time for a pitcher of ale. He was known for the bond he had with his brother Loki - how the two of them had curled around each other at birth, his tiny fist clenched around his brother's equally tiny pinky, and never let go.

But more than any of that, Thor Odinson was known for never taking a Consort, in all his years.

AU-gust Day 9: Royalty AU

Ostensibly, this is a thortony fic, but i really like this fic because of the relationship i wrote for Thor and Loki. i do hope to continue this some day, to expand this verse into a couple of related one shots that show Thor and Tony’s relationship overtime, and develop more on Thor and Loki as brothers because i think we were really robbed of that in the mcu - but this is one of my better AU-gust fills, for sure

4. the things we tell ourselves in the dark - stevetony, emh, skrulls, angst, 1.1k, K

“Still,” he turns away from Tony, because he doesn’t want to hurt him, but if he doesn’t get this out, it might eat him alive, “I was with them for months Tony. Months. How did you not notice? How did you not know it wasn't me?”

this is one of the few stevetony fics ive written all year, because ive sort of fallen out of love with the ship but emh brought it back in full force. i wrote this entire fic in 20 minutes literally the second i finished the Secret Invasion episode because there was such delicious angst and it begged to be written, and im so happy with how this turned out. i personally, am always quite worried that characters sometimes sound OOC in my fics, but i definitely didn’t have that issue with this fic, and i just really enjoyed writing it

5. 1000 lives (for you) - buckytony, mcu, soulmates AU, tws compliant, 14.7k, T

On the 10th of December 1991, the Asset is taken out of cyro, and there is a name on his right wrist.

On the 16th of December 1991, he is sent out to shoot the tyre of a car, and then kill the man and woman inside.

When he returns to base, there is a boy, no older than 17, chained to the wall of his room, shivering and bravely fighting back tears.

It does not occur to the Asset until much later than these two events are connected.

AU-gust Day 3: Soulmates AU

this is currently my largest fic till date, and it is such a labour of love. i don’t think ive ever worked this hard, or this long on a fic, and it’s definitely the fic i am the most proud of from 2020. im having so much fun writing this, and im really hoping that everybody reading this is really enjoying it too because i have so many ideas for this verse and it’s possibly one of my favourite things ive written ever -- not just this year

Bonus: the morning after - mcdanno, hawaii 5 o, established relationship, 1k, T

“I know I say this a lot,” Danny’s voice is still gruff with sleep, and he peers at Steve with one eye, as if opening both is too bright for him. He’s half twisted so he can face Steve, and the show of flexibility isn’t helping with Steve’s mission to keep things PG-13, “but today - you are literally a pain in my ass.”

i very recently got into hawaii 5 o, but i truly love these idiots with all my heart and soul, and it’s been so long since i immersed myself in a new fandom or wrote for any other characters, so i wanted to celebrate that by choosing my favourite h5o fic from this year. the thing about mcdanno is that they really do write themselves, and there’s so much potential with them that a lot of what i write is stuff you can truly imagine just happens off screen on the show. anyway, Danny is always calling Steve a pain in his ass, and i just thought it would be funny if Steve was literally a pain in this ass, and then this small one shot happened

OK SO TODAY WAS THE BTS CONCERT YES TODAY WAS D DAY THIS WAS IT THIS WAS THE BEST DAY OF MY FUCKIGN LIFE AND OMG OMOGMOGMOMG I HAVE SO MANY FUKING FEELS RIGHT NOW I MUST WRITE OK SO

first of all the pre-concert period was a shitshow ok bt SO WORTH IT FASTFORWARD OK SO

ok when we first sat down it was just like so overwhelming and beautiful to see so many people who love bts sitting together in the same space

spring day mv was playing and everyone was singing along and it was so beautiful

and then the intro started to play and it was just the boys and honestly i don’t really remember what it’s about now i just know i teared up rly bad because i was sosososoososso EMO. like thankful i think? to be able to stand there and to be able to actually see the boys up close

lke i was just so overwhelmed fjljalgkjLKJDFKA and then they came out like they actually appeared behind the screen and then omg all hell broke loose like ya girl and everyone else did not understand the meaning of chill and self control ok. NOT TODAY was first and it was so fucking lit and my first impression was that omg. THEY WERE! CLOSE!!!!!!!

SO CLOSE I COULD SEE JUNGKOOK’S THIGH MUSCLES AND I WAS LIKE OMGOGOGOGOGMOG like i felt bad for always keepign my eyes of jungkook but i just can’t NOT. pretty sure i screamed JUNGKOOOOK JUNGKOOKIEEEEEE like 5293509159 times today

but then it’s good because they also did solo songs that allowed me to really appreciate each member!!!!!!!

begin was first and lemme tell u ya girl almost lost it like legit screamed my fucking throat out “JUNGKOOK!!!!!! JUNGKOOOOOOOK MY BABYYYYY MY BAAAAABY” and he’s just so good like he was SOOO GOOD like his dancing was amazing and likeit started with him spinning on the circle and im so glad i got to watch it live because you could really feel the emotion in his voice like this song is emotional and about how he loves his hyungs so much but in the fancams, you could really just see how good the dancing is. BUT LIVE!!!!! HE IS SUCH AN EMOTIONAL SINGER I LOVE HIM SO MUCH and he did the dance so well and he’s just so perfect and beautiful and wonderful in every way

the yoongi solo was soo. EMOTIONAL. I SWEAR OMG I LOVE THE ORCHESTRA AND THE FACT THAT HE WAS SITTING IN FRONT OF A PIANO SINGING HIS LOVE FOR PIANO AND MUSIC AND THE WHOLE PERFORMANCE. FDJSAKGJ;LAKJGLKAJ ; like honestly it’s oen of my favorite songs from the album because it’s so well written and he does it sosososososo well like the emotion is so palpable and raw even in the track, especially the last verse. so it was so good to just hear it live and it was just that much more stunning and impactful and just SUCH AN EXPERIENCE. i love the song so much

I REALLY AM. during 2,3 there was a video of just their growth from the beginning and it made me SO EMO OK. like i haven’t been a fan since the beginning and i wish i have but the fact that they made it from being a literal NUGU to being so so big that they filled up prudential center. they’re SO GOOD LIVE. aside from talent, they’ve also improved so much and that just shows how hard they work. i’m so appreciative of their hard work and the fact that they were able to make it this big because of their hardwork and talent. they really are an amazing group of individuals!!!!!! like such a wonderful group of boys that are incredibly talented but also have such big kind hearts and are so funny and entertaining but also relatable and down to earth and friendly and inspirational. I MEANT TO WRITE + POST THIS IN SEPTEMBER 2016 SO IT WOULD BE A YEARLY CHECK-IN, SINCE THE LAST ONE I DID WAS SEPTEMBER 2015, AND THE ONE BEFORE THAT WAS SEPTEMBER 2014... BUT I WAS REALLY BUSY SO HEAr we go:

When we last left off (September 2015), I had JUST starting my 4th album, “Better,” written in the wake of realizing I had fallen into depression again! I was scared and confused, but above all else, I was MAD that this was happening AGAIN. It seemed like literally every single year around the same time, I would always just accidentally slip into a minor-moderate depression, and have to spend the rest of the year clawing my way out... (it was only in late 2016 that I realized it is probably SEASONAL depression... like... DUH...)

Enter “Better,” an album literally written to pull me out!

The first track, Better, was done in like, 20 minutes, the very first night I realized what was happening back in August 2015. I already posted the full thing that week, but I’ve included the best bits in the above video.

This song was written the same week in August 2015 after having recently reconnected with several people I had met back in 2011; 3 of which had all, separately, told me things along the lines of “I can see you are BLOSSOMING!” and “You really are BLOOMING!”

I’ve always known that I do take a little more time than others to do most things, but it was during that month that I really started to realize that I am a late-bloomer—and that’s ok!

BLOOM was based off of a K-pop song some of y’all may know. I don’t listen to K-pop because I don’t understand any of it, so I tried my hand at writing over this fun instrumental. What I like to do is pull instrumentals of moderately popular songs I’ve never heard before, write my own lyrics + melody over it, and then when I’m finally done with mine, I give the “real” version a listen. In some cases, I feel I have outdone the original, but in this case, I think the original was way better, even without being able to understand it! LOL But I also like what I did with it, too.

My roots have always been a little too sheltered, It didn’t matter if the rain ever came. Not always Great, but I was born Alexander, Wondering how I would live up to my name

And though it took a little while, people compliment my smile and the things that’d get me labeled as “strange” So now I’m planted and a little self-centered with barely any room to re-renovate

Cuz when I do, all of you will direct me to Some other thing I’m not winning Say what you may, but I’m Born To Slay Impossibly From beginning, to the end, But I guess that I missed why You dismissed my assistance’swhy Deep inside me wants to try be Something shiny and now I’m ready to bloom

This is one of the only songs I have ever publicly posted in full, during the week I wrote it. This song literally just CAME to me the week I joined Tinder/Grindr, as I hopelessly scrolled through all of the depressingly bleak profiles and saw the amount of self-hate everyone seemed to have while still managing to like themselves enough to be looking for hookups with strangers. I laid down to take a nap and within the first 15 seconds of lying down, I just heard a lingering voice in my head say “Looking.... Are you looking...?” Shot my ass up, wrote + recorded the whole song in about an hour, and posted it.

Thanks to Tinder, I had my VERY first date EVER (at age 23!) back in November 2015 with a very nice gentleman who was ALSO an artist, and mutually supportive of ALL of my art forms—my digital painting, my traditional painting, even painting my face! We had a sweet dinner, and then... I never heard from him again!

Bravo was, in some ways, referencing Applause, in the idea that although I would have loved to be with him, I did not need his support (or, “bravo”) if he didn’t want to be with me. (His name also rhymed with the word “bravo” lol). I Will Survive is also referenced because... duh!

I didn’t include a snippet in the video because it’s obviously a really personal song, so the personal meaning is MUCH stronger than the execution LOL

Post-2013, my goal with writing my music has never been to write a “hit” or anything super commercial or anything for anyone else to consume (especially since I stopped posting + sharing my music altogether, so anything I write is literally JUST for me!)... however, after I came up with this title, this song was to be my MOMENT.

The first verse plays off the mythology of the “YAS,” with Gaga being clamored by the paparazzi and her screaming fans, being a metaphor for all my photos and the attention I was getting on social media from a guy I was talking to and had plans to date almost weekly between September 2015 and December 2015, but never did. As the song goes, I didn’t feel like he was reciprocating the thoughts + feelings I had for him, (“so there goes that potential date”) but whenever I would post something on Instagram, he would like it IMMEDIATELY, and then literally go all the way back YEARS into my posts, and start liking all of my old selfies, my old artwork, EVERYTHING. “When I’m Instagramming, you spam me, and we never even met yet.”

The line about “receipts” is about me screencapping every piece of dialogue I have and sending it to my hunties to help me figure out if this guy even liked me! The line “On to the next one” was told to me when one of those friends saw the receipts and really didn’t think that this guy was interested (and he was right! We’ll get to this part of the story later...)

I wrote this in November of 2015, and it’s one of the most personal + vulnerable things I’ve ever created. I think this song is the absolute hardest to listen to of anything I’ve ever written because whenever I hear it, I almost immediately fall right into the mindset I had while writing it. It’s about trying your hardest to see a really powerful friendship through, while realizing that as you’ve been trying to help him be “happy again,” you yourself aren’t very happy anymore, either.

This song ended up being what Y.A.S. was supposed to be: it’s fun, it’s written well, and as if that wasn’t enough, I also produced the entire thing! It’s a song collectively about all 4 of the guys I went on dates with or even seriously talked to between late 2015–early 2016, but was specifically written about 2 dates I had in particular in January 2016...

Because I’m a FREAK, I literally record all of my first dates (in the event that that person ends up being THE ONE, so I could play it back at our 25-year vow renewal ceremony... Also because I just have a bad memory and wanted to take notes like in class LOL. So basically, less than mid-way through both of these January 2016 dates, while the other guy was preoccupied or in a different room, I mumbled into my phone “... yeah........ i’m over it............................” In fact, after the date with the Y.A.S. guy, I got in my car and recorded what became the chorus to this song.

Parts of this song are about a particular person + incidents I had with him, but for the most part, it’s about a lot of people and situations in general. For example, one of my dates was on his phone for work. Understandable. One of my dates was on his phone scrolling through Instagram while I was talking. Not so understandable. When I’m talking to a friend in the car, I don’t even touch my phone. When I’m at dinner with friends or lunch with coworkers, I ALWAYS put my phone away. Scrolling through social media when someone is right next to you is insulting! So much so that I wrote a fucking song about it.

Continuing my exercise of writing over songs/verses I felt were badly written, I wrote over the first verse of Meghan “you really think I can be replaced, nah, I’m come from outerspace” Trainor’s Lips Are Moving, and this is, I think, the best verse I have ever written! It’s sassy, it’s concise, and it’s catchy as HELL!

This is about all the guys on the dating apps that you thought had potential, but, for whatever reason, end up not responding to your messages until they’re bored/horny again.

The title, “I’m not the one” goes both ways, in Alyssa’s context, I’m saying “you pissed off the wrong bitch,” but in my own context, I’m saying that as these guys aren’t made for me, I, too, am not “the one.”

This is the closing piece to this album, which started and ended when I started and finished dating/trying dating apps for the first time (September 2015–August 2016). It was a fucking WEIRD time in my life! LOL Not my GREATEST album, but I like it, and there are a lot of things that I’ve learned from it. One day I’ll tell the story about the worst date in my life because I learned more from that one meeting than I have in the last 6 years! LOL

Anyway, I’m just 2 songs away from finishing my NEXT album, which has tentatively been called “SNAP.” All my “albums” have 10 tracks each, and just consist of songs written during that 1-year period. This next album is, as of right now, my favorite! I can’t wait to share Son of a Bitch and Just a Little Piece of Garbage with you guys... I think they’re both in the top 10 of the best songs I’ve ever written!!!!!

P U R S U E

I got so much wisdom last Saturday and also was able to write a few notes here and there last few months too. I am reading a couple of books which also gave me a wider perspective and yesterday, someone asked me if it’s right to say yes to the guy who asked her on a date. So, I asked a couple of questions and was completely stunned on how I came up with such questions because maybe she wasn’t expecting that AT ALL for me to ask but I did. Long story short, that conversation with her did go quite well. I’ve been reading a lot of books. Books for the soul and it has been very helpful for me in understanding a lot of things in life and recently, I’ve noticed a big change on my perception when it comes to dating and Im quite proud of it to be honest.

You see, women for the longest time have been told to wait for a man to pursue you. Don’t chase after him. WAIT. I think that's okay. It’s cool. What I noticed is that we keep telling women to WAIT and not tell men to pursue. If you plan to lead in marriage, lead in a pursuit. When I say “pursue”, I don’t mean stalk. Don’t show up to her door and ask her if it’s okay to court her. Learn to take social queues. One of my friends in church told me that it’s okay to pursue to courtship first. That doesn’t mean that you will be leading towards dating but it’s for you get to know each other and take into consideration if it is worth pursuing to dating. If there is somebody you’re interested in, pray about it. Place yourself in positions to get to know her. Ask about her. Seek wisdom from friends and older Christians to see if this is a wise decision to go after her. You can be blinded to things that others can see. Be patient. Sometimes, guys are so ahead of themselves that they become so friendly, so fast that they haven’t decided if it is a wise decision to pursue a girl so if they move in too quickly, you might get rejected really fast or you might stir her emotions too quickly or you might change your mind because it wasn’t something you really thoughtful about.

You should care enough about her heart and her emotions that you would not want to lead her on and this is something that guys needs to be extra careful of because sometime guys do this unintentionally. You have to be intentional about pursuing her but also intentional about guarding her heart.

“Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life. -Proverbs 4:23”

This takes A LOT of time, prayer and wisdom because you can get caught up in the moment and not realizing that what you say now may sound loving, sweet and caring but may come to bite you later on. Don’t let your words go beyond what you already prayed, thought, and sought wisdom about.

Ladies, you should be concerned about guarding your heart as well. I don’t mean guarding like a federal prison guarding. Im just saying to not be too quick in opening up your emotions to him just because he’s cute and gives you attention and proclaims he’s a Christian and knows bible verses.

Guys, if you prayed about it, sought wisdom for it and you still want to move forward, then do that but still do it cautiously. Be clear about your motives. Let her know what you desire at that particular point. Ultimately you’re looking for a wife but this is not guaranteeing marriage. That’s unnecessary pressure that can lead to disaster. Let’s just say that you desire to be with her and that the goal is deciding to whether or not you two should marry. You want to move forward to courtship then dating…then do that. Ask her father. In my experience, I never experienced that kind of gesture in which would really make a big impact in your journey with someone. If not the father, you can ask another spiritual leader in her life. If she doesn’t have a father, then go to her mother, elder, pastor, uncle, older brother or someone who has been pouring into her life spiritually. This will help you keep accountable and also to show that you respect her and her family enough that you would seek permission from the one who’s been leading her.

Ladies, you should expect a man to do this. It’s not suggesting you can’t make good decisions on your own but a lot of times, you can’t make good decisions on your own. Im not trying to side anyone but as a woman, I know this clearly! When it comes to romance, our emotions gets so involved that we don’t always make the best decisions and Im saying this to men too that’s why you need to seek wisdom before pursuing a woman.

Our culture tells us all that we can do this ALONE. NO HELP AT ALL. JUST YOU….DO THE EXACT OPPOSITE. Having a community of people around you in this process does not guarantee that you won’t get hurt but it can prevent a lot of needless hurt and act as a safety net.

“The way of love is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice. -Proverbs 12:15”

Guys, a few quick reasons why you should pursue her INTENTIONALLY :

1. You are not getting any younger. You keep waiting for your prayers to show up at your door step. Put action to your faith or it’s not faith at all.

2. Christian women desire to be pursued in godly and honest way. They will wait but you are not helping them if you act timid or play games for a long time until you can finally make a decision.

3. Pursue because the bible says “Husband, love your wives as Christ loved the church, and gave Himself up for her”. You might say “Well, Im not her husband yet” which is true but while you are yet in your sins, Christ died for us. Before we were saved, He had a plan from long ago to pursue us.

“..but God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. - Romans 5:8”

We can look back in our lives and see that it was the grace of God that lead us to this point. Christ was looking for us. He alone initiated our salvation and He didn’t wait for us to get our act together. No. He pursued us as we were. Broken and a past full of darkness. That’s how you should pursue.

“He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him. - Ephesians 1:4”

Pursue her with a heart that says.. “I know you’re not perfect and I know that your past is full of terrible mistakes but I want you and Im going to show you that I want you” That’s what Christ did, you should too.
