congrats on arm!!! also no worries if you don't want to talk about your workout routine but do you have any tips for how to get started working out if you're new to it? i want to feel stronger but feel really overwhelmed and unsure where to start!

ok so actually yes as someone who’s tried to like working out for YEARS I have so many thots basically

1. Get a gym membership. I know you CAN work out at home but personally it’s way harder for me bc im like. Ok I COULD be working out rn or I could just stop and go play some video games. If ur at the gym tho it’s like ok im already here so I might as well

2. Spend like, a month literally just hanging out at the gym. Like I went in without a plan and just did random machines for an hour until I got tired. And this was rly important for me bc it turned working out from like, “something I have to do and it hurts and I have to do a prescribed regimen every time” into just a fun thing I do for as long as I wanna. I like to think of it as enrichment in my hamster enclosure. If you get any visible progress here it’s also a slay because that’s encouragement!

3. ONLY WHEN you’ve done these things get an actual workout program. I tbh just stole one from someone I know who’s buff as fuck. Don’t be afraid to modify it, too. My friend is strong and has been going to the gym forever so he does a bunch of barbell stuff… which is scary to me. So instead I just do machines that work basically the same thing (eg bench press -> machine chest press).

4. Form is basically the most important thing, bc otherwise ur working the wrong muscles. And at least personally as a beginner, when I was getting my form wrong, it was usually bc I was trying to lift too much, my muscles couldn’t manage it, so my form slipped so other muscles could take over. Like, after a while of doing bicep curls, your forearms might start to take over the load. If you take ur thumbs from curling around the bar to sitting underneath it, you can stop that. For every new machine I did for a while I’d put the weight at like, 10 pounds, and just focus on getting the form right. This is also fun bc it feels more like enrichment. Wheee im pulling levers and such!

5. Nutrition. Eat a lot of protein. Like the amount u think u should be eating and then double that. Ppl recommend .7-1 g of protein per pound of body weight (im starting from a higher body fat %, so I can eat closer to the .7 range… which is nice bc otherwise ur eating SO MUCH). Like, again, don’t freak out about it, the most important thing is that ur going at all… but once it becomes something u enjoy, you wanna make sure you’re not doing a bunch of work and then not giving ur muscles the nutrition they need

So basically overall my advice is like, make going to the gym easy and fun before you make it useful. Like, you can do the best workouts of your life but if it sucks, you’re not gonna do it consistently. Once u break the habit, you’ll never pick it back up. If you make it fun first, you want to go… and you can always make it more difficult later. If you ever notice it not being fun, give it a break and figure out how to make it fun.

Also basically nobody is looking at you in the gym ever. Also I specifically got a membership to a gym that has really low membership bc I hate fighting for machines and I hate feeling like ppl are looking at you (they’re not, but I hate the feeling). My planet fitness is 24/7, and for a while I went at like, 11pm bc it was empty.

feels like, even tho im now labeling myself as aro, i dont think i fit in with the aro community very well. i dont think i'll ever fit in,, i dont think ppl would accept me as aro. i have a boyfriend, I'm in a romantic relationship, which like, i know whole point of being aro is, not really wanting that but i do want it. i love my boyfriend very much. is it romantic love? no, i dont really think so, i dont really know what romantic love is supposed to feel like but i dont think its what i experience. its,, some kinda love, some kind that i cant really put a name to. i want a relationship because i want to have a domestic life spent together with someone. because i want to love someone in a way thats different, and i wanna be loved in a way that's different. My boyfriend isnt aro, he loves me romantically, and i think its nice. thats his kind of love. mine,, mine isnt like that. i wish i had a word for it i really do but i dont know what kind of love this is. we do most of the normal relationship stuff that couples do but not always. sometimes stuff like a quick kiss can make me feel,, weird and unsure of what im feeling. just a quick peck on the lips makes me confused and queasy and kind of uncomfortable. but other times a quick kiss makes me happy and loved and all that. (idk if anyone will read this but before you worry me and my boyfriend already talked about this, its all sorted out its all good, he doesnt make me uncomfortable.) based on that i feel like most people would say that im not aro. but i cant,, i cant imagine having any other person in my life that i love in this specific way. and,, i dunno,, aro just feels,,, right but it feels very, lonely. i dont rly think i share experiences with the aro community, i dont rly think i belong here,, but i dont know where else to be. i spent so long crying and talking with aro people and thinking hard before i decided to label myself as aro. i want to be confident and happy when i tell someone im aro but i just feel scared because i dont really fit into the "norm" of aro ppl. i dunno. rambling over ig lol :')

scarecrow and harley know each other and are friendly!! 

harley and deadshot hook up during suicide squad activities (harley would be removed from the team after her first mission via Bruce Wayne, but she does end up being forced into it). also im channeling assault on arkham vibes with their dynamic. he canot rly stand her but isnt actually cruel to her, and she is mainly just using him but feels affectionate towards him.

i have not thought abt how the dynamic would work storywise but i desperately want killer croc and harley to be friends. i will reflect on this

black mask is super important for dinahs story!! hes like. her main villain : (

red hood is very important in my story!!! harley and ivy take him in after the joker kills him, and ivy revives him with the powers of the green, causing him to be connected to it as well (though he has no control over it and the things can do are very weak/not relevant to him skillset wise). hes basically harley and ivys gay son dkfgndkf, he views them as his parental figures over bruce, and while this is mainly to Spite bruce, he really does trust and care for them. more ivy than harley bc .. harley does some fuck shit. but he cares for harley too

heres some chronological relationship charts ft. birds of prey and gotham city sirens : )

(basically during the original bop, babs and dinah start it, then renee and helena join later, babs n dinah have a very awkward dynamic with helena bc shes gay and has never rly seen Other gay ppl, and barbara is very hostile and takes her staring at them as her being homophobic so. its not GREAT!!!)

(a while after the birds break up, harley and helena end up working together and end up hooking up a few times, its kinda weird, kinda tender, and its mainly just harley trying her best try and give helena a little support which is at the current time pretty uncharacteristic for her)

(the sirens are together at the same time as harley/helena hookups, this is the longest of harleys joker free periods so its when shes at her healthiest, though she is clearly still struggling)

(this is a massive jump in the plot but. its for the relationship charts. we skip past a huge arc ft harley/ivy getting together, and becoming safe and settled with each other. harley and dinah meet up and begin a gay little fwb relationship post bop events , bop events are similar to in the movie but i did take my own spin on them, so theyre. also different ! ) ((also also just 2 be clear, while ivy was jealous of helena, that was bc she wanted the intimacy and love harley was giving her. now that they are in a committed and healthy relationship, ivy is ok with harley having certain other partners that theyve discussed n agreed on! its very much something they talk about unlike what the comics show :/ ))

(babs ends up initiating the birds of prey’s comeback. dinah and helena are both very unsure abt it bc uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh the last time they worked together ended. VERY BADLY!!!! which i will release in more detail Soon. but. they end up agreeing and actually do form a rly good cohesive team and despite the awkwardness of their dynamic get a lot of good stuff done!)

* alex wolff, cis male + he/him | you know cricket donahue, right? they’re twenty-two, and they’ve lived in irving for, like, all of their life, on and off? well, their spotify wrapped says they listened to should have known better by sufjan stevens like, a million times this year, which slipping on wet leaves to photograph a tree struck alight by lightning, delivering a tedtalk to your own reflection to hype yourself up to buy groceries, hiding your hands inside of your sleeves in case you grew an impromptu megan fox thumb overnight thing going on. i just checked and their birthday is october 1st, so they’re a libra, which is unsurprising, all things considered. ( nai, 24, gmt, she/her )

HISTORY:

cricket ws born to a couple tht lived in lilac ridge. their trailer was tucked closest to the woods n always fell under the shade. it was like the leaves wanted to pretend they were a perpetual hanging cloud on the family n that was kind of fitting. their only reason fr having him in the first place was a kind of shrugged like........... we’re under the income bracket we’d get child benefits so why not! may as well try it to rake in some extra cash! needless to say they didn’t rly think it thru or anticipate all of the responsibilities tht came w children n wound up seeing him as an extremely large burden n boy didn’t he know it!

(child neglect & abuse tw) i’ll try to keep this part vague n brief but things were Not Good for cricket growing up. people in lilac ridge didn’t like his parents n it was for a gd reason. he remembers foggy things. being little n wandering around combing the grass with a stick to search for wrappers to suck on bc he was hungry. feeling uneasy when the front door opened. finding out his name was cricket bc the insects used to crawl into their trailer thru the vents n his parents liked to squish them into the carpet -- his mum told him as much once. i think this says a lot. to excessively trim the fat of the story he wound up entering the system at around 8 after his latest and most serious hospital visit. his parents hd to deal w the authorities n last he heard they bounced to evade charges.

(anxiety & violence & trauma tw) cricket sustained a few lifelong injuries from his time in lilac ridge. his knee didn’t heal right which meant he had (n still has to this day) a limp n he’s partially deaf in one ear. he’s always been an incredibly insecure n anxious person so this mde him rly self conscious going into a strange n new environment tht wld b difficult fr any kid to adjust to, nvm w these added worries. he jst felt like something weird to ogle at honestly. he probably wld have felt like that no matter where he was or what he looked like. he cld be in a huge hall of 200 people all wearing the same uniform n he’d still feel like the odd one out. needless to say this didn’t rly help him make friends

cricket’s coping mechanisms were romanticising the things tht other people found ugly or embarrassing or painfully ordinary. he liked it when the rain hit clunky drops against school windows n forbid everyone from playing outside bc he could feel the vibrations through the rubber soles of his shoes n it was a little bit like hearing all of the world at once fr just a moment. he liked medieval fantasy lore about stout gnomes w crumbs in their beards n cheeks red from ale. he liked fallen nests with the remnants of hatched eggs still dirty from the branches n soil they’d hit on the way down. he liked the way the sunlight leaked thru the leaves of the trees in the woods and how, when he sat very still, he could tune into the ringing that was always in his ear n pretend it was coming from the same place, that light thru the leaves, that the angels were trying to talk to him.

he spent a lot of time in the red room at his high skl (i’m begging u this is not a 50 shades reference) (after googling i jst realised it’s called a darkroom bt i’m leaving this fr the sake of sexy bimbo authenticity) n felt quite at home in there. he borrowed a camera whenever he cld (maybe he did yearbook) n photography became his way of immortalising the world as the romanticised version he wanted it to be. his memories were bad bt his photos were beautiful. maybe if he took enough they’d paste over n bleed into each other. maybe bad cld be replaced w beautiful if he tried his very best.

he got placed into fostering w a family once bt apparently didn’t meet the vibe check of their tastes so he wound up returning to the group home he’d initially been placed in. overall this is where he grew up n he aged out the system rather than getting adopted. there was a sense of floundering/isolation/not feeling gd enough in tht bt cricket made do the best he knew how. 

that said there were some gd points! (shocking i kno bc his life hs been so fking bleak so far bt please it’s ok........) (is it?) (🤔). basically he interned as an assistant at this local photography studio during high skl working under this kind of whimsical yet endearing old man. suspected wizard possibly in cricket’s eyes, as an avid fantasy genre reader. for one of his bdays said old man / his boss bought him his very own film camera n cricket cried bc he’d never been bought a bday gift. this ws rly embarrassing bc this old man didn’t know how to emote n neither did cricket so he ws jst sort of sat wiping his eyes n sniffling saying he wasn’t crying as the old man pretended to suddenly clean his lenses. when cricket graduated he offered him a full time position there. they do like. wedding photographs n family portraits n all kinds of things...... pay isn’t huge bt it’s something n he Loves taking photos so it’s sexy <3

PERSONALITY:

SUCH an anxious person it’s actually unreal. overthinks absolutely everything he’s ever said. one morning he might hv put green socks on n for the rest of the day he’s nervously looking around like omggggggg they’re all looking at my socks probably thinking im a little green sock boy thinking i’m a fool n a jester this is all everyone’s probably thinking about i hv to hide my green socks..... even tho literally no-one cares

once saw a girl eating a chicken wing n in his head was like ok she likes chicken good future gift idea..... n turned up at her house with an entire rotisserie chicken

probably thinks WAY too hard abt what to write in bday cards n googles like generic ideas that he can use.... u open a card from cricket n it always says smthn weird like “Warmest wishes and love on your birthday and always!” or “You deserve everything happy. Wishing you that all year long!” tht he got off google

nervously fiddles w things a lot. literally anything. his hair. the cuffs of his sleeves. a thread on his bag. u name it

struggles w eye contact sometimes............ it’s like. he wants to talk to ppl n make friends bt he’s honestly so bad at it. he’s fumbling thru life like a nervous headless chicken

ALWAYS has his camera on him. like always. will tke a photo of u bc he thinks u look nice then be like im so sorry im so sorry...... bowing his head shakily holding his camera bc he doesn’t even kno what possessed him he jst thought it’d be a nice photograph bt boundaries exist. probably breathes very heavily over this later in his room panicking thinking he nw seems like hannibal lecter

probably more confident online bc he has time to think abt what he says more.......... i can see him hving a group of online friends tht he’s more confident w. honestly he’s pretty witty at heart he jst has a hard time verbalising things so ppl overlook him sometimes bt once u get to know him more / he’s more comfy he can b a funny little man.....

loves photographs where he cuts something out of them. loves missing spaces n voids. thinks it’s a rly interesting concept when something that isn’t there becomes the focus of a photograph where everything else is. probably loses his mind fr a collage like a front row 1d stan. likes experimenting w light n perception. pretty artistic honestly hs probably made a stop motion film in the past bc that’s just an extended form of photography in his mind bt i doubt he showed anyone

as for yu, she gives me very gentle and calm vibes seriously. she’s strikes me off as a hard worker from our conversations and she is very dedicated to her writing which i believe sangyeon would love in a person. i can already imagine him just staring at her work, with a look of affection and admiration in his eyes 😆

um was it really going to be anyone else other than bea? XD younghoon as we know is a pretty shy person and bea to me, seems like the opposite of that. in their case, i think the phrase ‘opposite attracts’ is applicable! bea’s enthusiasm and liveliness is something younghoon would definitely find to be very charming, prompting him to come out of his shell very quickly when he’s around her. i believe whatever he lacks, she makes up for it and vice versa

rose is just so random and funny sometimes which is honestly just like hyunjae to a tee, they’re just so like each other in a way! i get the feeling that rose may be a little unsure of herself sometimes ( which she shouldn’t ) and i think hyunjae would be a great fit because he would definitely be able to help her become more confident while she can probably teach him to be a little less tough and be more vulnerable to his own feelings.

anna is an extremely bright and outgoing person from what i can tell from our conversations. i think that would complement well with hyunjae’s loud and larger than life personality and they would a 100% be that couple that everyone just asks to tone it down but secretly love having them around because they’re just so intriguing and fun to have around 💫

elsie has these very calm vibes and i’ve mentioned this before but she gives mad older sister vibes as well. she’s gentle and soft, very much like juyeon and ngl i may be just a little intimidated by her at first but after getting to know her, she’s actually super friendly and nice! she and juyeon would make a lovely couple and i can totally imagining them just chilling on a rainy night, watching Netflix while he wraps his arms around her in a warm embrace.

luna imo is pretty quiet for the most part but once you talk to her, she’s actually pretty fun to talk to! she’s also artistically inclined ( also have you seen her calligraphy skills? they’re insanely good omf ) which i think kevin would appreciate a lot as an artist himself! i feel like he can bring her out of her shell and when he does, he’d just be enchanted by her lovely personality and did i just write a fluffy fic prompt?? o.o

mae is JUST. SO. CUTE. my biggest kevin stan out there, you would be a great match for kevin i just know it. your enthusiasm and your meme vibes would complement kevin perfectly! she’s incredibly supportive and lively which is definitely something i think kevin would look out for in a partner. i can 100% see him with someone who’s just like mae in the future 💓

having talked to rosie, i can tell you that she’s one of the easiest people i’ve talked to on tumblr so far. she’s also such a sweet person and her vibes are really similar to changmin’s come to think of it? lovable but with a tiny hint of shyness? that’s changmin and rosie! i know we always see changmin smiling since that boy basically exudes happiness but i feel like there’s got to be a special kind of smile, the soft kind that speaks volumes of his feelings that he reserves for those he loves and i feel like that person could be rosie. does that make sense?

talking about belle is like talking about a role model to me >< i still fangirl sometimes but that’s beside the point. belle has such warm vibes that changmin would have loved! i feel like he’s not someone who likes to make his feelings know and he’d rather just be happy in front of the camera all the time but i think with belle, he would definitely be able to let his guard down around her. there’s just something about her that wants to make ppl trust her instantly 😋

although i haven’t rly talked much to iris ( but i really want to >< iris can we be friends pls ) iris has this sort of charm that i can’t quite put my finger on. it’s a certain type of charm that i associate with sunwoo? like there’s a certain appeal which they both have in common! from our very little interaction ( hopefully we can change that ), i get that she has a vibrant personality that would make everyone just love to flock to her and befriend her. ngl when i think of sunwoo, i think of her sometimes! maybe this is a signal from the universe idk 👀

moonbin was born in may 16th 2003 in busan so he’s 23 and a taurus baby <3

his birth was long awaited by his parents since they had been trying for a while, and a year after he was born they also had another boy

they moved to seoul when the two were still kids bc of his father being promoted

moony’s brother, jaesung, was always his best friend. they did everything together, played together, went to school together (their mom even sent them into school at the same time for their sake, so moonbin got into school 1 year late)

still, they had their differences, what with likes and dislikes, mostly bc jaesung was always more studious and straight to the point when moonbin was more imaginative, creative, easily distracted and loved everything that had to do with art

their parents disapproved of moonbin’s choices, since they wanted both of their sons to get jobs that could take them all kinds of places

everything stayed pretty much the same until they got into high school, where they were finally separated into different classrooms and jaesung’s behavior started changing bc of the people he started hanging out with, what one would call “the wrong crowd”; alcohol, drugs and too late night outs became something normal to him

it was pretty obvious that moonbin was left behind by his own brother, and he had to find his own friends, which were much more inviting towards him

jaesung started acting cold to moonbin even at their own home, and it didn’t stop there. as their high school years passed by, moonbin graduated and had to start working right away to be able to save enough money for college; his parents had way too much on their shoulders, since jaesung was suffering from anxiety and depression and had no intention of fixing that, only digging himsel deeper into the mess he was in and getting held back a few years in school

eventually, jaesung got so lost within himself that he ended up getting locked up after attacking both a random guy at a party and the officer who came over to separate them, and in his drunken state only made things worse for himself. that assured him more than ten years in prison, with a fee high enough to make his parents unsure if it was really possible to get him out

this happened when moonbin had just been accepted into college, and while the natural thing for him would be to just stay and help his parents out during such tough times, moonbin got easily affected by his friends and other people’s comments all the time, about his brother and how jaesung was in jail and simply associating moonbin to the person his brother was. it seemed so much easier to just go away and pretend like the life he lived up until he got into college didn’t exist, so that’s exactly what he did

if you ask him, moonbin will either deny he actually has a brother or disgard the family topic as a whole; he likes to think he’s detached himself from the reality he used to live in, so dependent of someone who so easily forgot about him

moonbin has always been very cheery and friendly, but before it was in a way more muted way than nowadays, since he doesn’t feel like he depends on anyone else to be around a crowd of people anymore

tips on how to analyze (tone, theme, characters) tv shows and movies? i find it harder to do than with writing

OH HELLO! okay first of all it’s good that you know what you’re working it when it comes to ur strong suits...that’s CRUCIAL and i applaud u for it, and since u said writing for u is easier than analyzing stuff then i feel like you’re in a RLY good situation to begin with!!! most writers i know (MYSELF INCLUDED) have a harder time actually writing than analyzing stuff that’s already out there!!!

idk what your writing process looks like but the things that separate one writer from the next one are mostly universal imo...ur use of grammar, worldbuilding, etc, will ALWAYS look different from that of another writer and i feel like that plays a huge huge part in media analysis as well. 

the next time you watch a movie/tv show you like, asking yourself these questions might be helpful (extra fun if you’re able to find the screenplay online):

why do i like it? what are my favorite scenes and why? who’s my favorite character and why?

if you cant quite answer one or more of these questions, having the screenplay handy can be super helpful!!! i love reading screenplays (and writing them too but that’s another story) because a lot of the little details that make you love the shows/films you love were born directly from the screenplay...like ik this sounds obvious but let’s use joe wright movies as an example, he looooooooves his hand closeups. they’re VITAL aspects of his storytelling and most of them are explicitly in his screenplays. what im trying to say here is that reading a film’s screenplay allows you to know what choices were deliberate and which ones were improvised.

something else that might help u is watching or listening to other people’s analysis of different media (doesnt rly matter if u engage with it or not), and see what they point out about it. hell, take notes if u feel like it. you’ll hear a LOT about symbolism and tropes and foreshadowing and other devices ppl identify in other’s writing...if you’re unsure about the meaning of a word i encourage you to look it up and lose yourself in wikipedia articles for as long as you want or have time to.

and finally, comparison!!!! finding differences/similarities between pieces of media is one of the most exciting and fun aspects of media analysis...because you’ll find that stories often repeat themselves one way or another and yet each one still has bits and pieces that make them unique!!!

So that wasn’t rly what I was talking abt when I said lampshading your writing being bad doesn’t make it stop being bad “lampshading”/Lampshade Hanging is a trick used by writers where essentially they make a potentially problematic (as in, hard to believe or understand) aspect of their writing seem less so by calling attention to it-- essentially, by pointing out that they know a particular bit will seem strange to the reader, they tell the reader they know what they’re doing and can be trusted with it. Order of the Stick is a fantastic webcomic which analyzes and parodies a lot of tropes and is one of the most effective meta-works I’ve ever read-- you’ll find it all over TVTropes, including on its page for Lampshade with this strip.

The joke here is that the speaker is perfectly reasonable in his statements. To assume that the person he is interrogating is telling the truth would be foolish, for the reasons he points out here. Why would a powerful military organization just... not tell any of its members why it was fighting? Yet the readers know that the person being interrogated is telling the truth, no matter how ridiculous it is. That’s lampshade hanging-- calling attention to the ridiculous nature of your own writing.

Lampshading is supposed to be humorous in a sort of self-deprecating way. It doesn’t actually correct any mistakes in writing, but it makes them more forgivable. And its usage is limited-- the lampshading here works in large part because OotS is a work based on mocking popular writing conventions, even if it knows it itself is subject to them.

What I was talking about was the poor writing in fate/Grand Order, which is confusing and circular and heavy with exposition which frequently leaves the reader more unsure of the situation than they were at the start. fate/Grand Order is not a fanfiction by an inexperienced author. fate/Grand Order is one of the most popular mobile games of all time, one of the latest entries in a very large and successful franchise, and has an entire team of paid, experienced writers. It mocks any reader capable of understanding its long, confusing explanations and just... leaves it at that. That’s lampshading where the ultimate target is your reader, and which doesn’t actually make poor writing seem more forgivable. 

With that said... don’t insult your art. Occasionally making self deprecating jokes is fine, but look at it this way-- would you want to buy a product if the producer had only bad things to say about it? Insulting your work doesn’t actually improve it, and in most cases, it doesn’t garner any sympathy for it. Sure, everyone has to start somewhere, and it’s fine to feel insecure in your art! But if you actually want to improve, you can’t be your only critic. You need to start taking feedback from other people-- look for beta readers, read style/grammar books, take advice from more experienced writers. Nobody wants to be “warned” that your art is bad. They just want to see your art.

being in shanghai in general

i havent rly seen much of the city yet so idk cant comment

but life here is def different from nyc this isnt necessarily a super walk able city (but subway lines are pretty extensive)

in terms of academic life same thing very different like my dorm is 20min by bus to campus (not sure how long the subway takes tho) and its not really walk able compared to nyc where i walk literally everywhere on campus. additionally, here is one academic building and the dorms so rn its 5pm and ive been in the same building since 9am or so...... its nice to not have to rush to classes cause sometimes they can be far apart but i could see this getting old quick

the building is pretty nice tho idk everything thats here but i wanna find a better study spot than the library cause its soooooo small and gonna be a nightmare near exams

food ????? idk where to buy some or even how to cook LMAO so idk how im going to eat while im here today i ate lunch and will eat dinner on campus (no meal plan but we have a dining hall) but idk what im gonna keep doing lol

soooooo its been a while (a full year lol) since i last took chinese so im nervous lol im already a little overwhelmed with the amount of work we have for this class which is expected cause its the same amount of workload from elementary i (lucky korean is a bit less even tho its still a lot) but idk man i just dont wanna get behind and do poorly again especially since im in china....... i need to speak chinese........

my prof seems nice but its hard to say if she will always be this easy as a prof since it was the first day - i guess i can make further judgement once she starts actually teaching and to see how hard she grades stuff

i was hesitant to come abroad b/c of physics - i just started the major last semester (ie when i took physics i) so im still v shakey on physics and Yeah i didnt know one if this class would ~count~ as physics ii (ive been told its fine lol cause like it still is a lower level class so it should be fine right) and two what the workload for it would be like here in shanghai lol especially since my physics i professor was very unconventional

additionally taking physics ii with the professor that teaches it in nyc is kind of like a rite of passage kind of thing w/in the physics majors lol (not that deep whats more importatant is me doing well and being on track for the rest of the major)

with that also being said i was unsure b/c i didnt want to take myself out of the community within the physics department cause everyone i met was so amazing (as in students idk many profs) and i have like a group of ppl that i tended to do work with so i dont have them to rely on anymore

okay so back to first impressions its kind of hard to say anything abt my prof yet cause stuff we did today was rly basic (like talking about the charges of a proton/electron lmao) but for the class itself......... big yike cause there’s only 6 ppl including me in it and thats too small for me personally and im the only study-away student (or just non-chinese student in general) in the class so i feel like i stand out a lot and that im the odd one out skldjfvnjdfskv i dont like it :(((((

i hate this “we only start talking an hour before tribal” nonsense that this merge tribe has going on. like pls get your lives together sooner. i don’t even message ppl anymore bc we just do the “yaaa i haven’t heard anything” “me either” back and forth

i feel pretty hopeless in the game i’m ngl, fully think we should just wrap it up now and give zach the win

alyssa is an emotional and illogical player who came into the merge with the goal of miguel and luke being voted out for voting against her premerge. she didn’t think of the long term, only revenge. it’s embarrassing.

i don’t rly have an endgame path. or anything anymore. i miss luke and stephen.

So, yesterday was a bit of blindside for me. Not even really because Luke left, I woke up that morning willing to vote him out myself, but because I was unable to get Karth, Tim, or Alyssa on my side. I don't think any of them are truly "against me" at this point but it's a little worrying that Luke left over Jake, who I still don't really have a strategic relationship with.

Alyssa confronted me last night saying that other people had gone to her and said that I was planning to target her once Jake was gone. This isn't exactly true, but it has enough basis in reality since I have talked in the "4-elements" alliance about how we should target Jake before going after Alyssa. I'm not sure who went to her with this idea, nor do I know if she was even approached with it in the first place. Alyssa has deceived me for 2 votes now. First, she outright lied to me about voting Zach out at F10 (I still don't technically have confirmation of this, but it makes sense that she'd take out Luke/Miguel as soon as possible). More evidence supporting that she lied is that the former Kato2.0 side decided to vote Luke out next, which would be odd if he was the one to flip to their side at the first merge vote.

The second thing she lied about was being on the fence at this last tribal council.  After Luke was gone she told Jess that we "should've known she didn't want Jake out" despite her never saying that to us. It's clear that Alyssa had planned to vote Luke out as soon as she knew this would be a 5-4 vote. But she lied to me about that and wasted my time up until the very last minute.

Basically, what I'm saying is... it's getting exhausting to try and work with her strategically. It's not like Ally/Jess/Karth, who I feel I can talk frankly and honestly with. I want her and Jake gone. Jake hasn't really "wronged" me in anyway, but I can tell him and Alyssa have to at least be a little close so the jury can have both of them. Honestly, I kinda want them both gone more than Zach at this point. I'm doing my best to win this upcoming immunity challenge so people stop going behind my back, but if Zach were to win.. well... I certainly have a few alternatives in mind.

I am feeling a bit stuck in this game. With Zach in the game I feel my game is pretty restricted and I would feel too bad to backstab him. I already felt bad for voting Luke. I just dont know what to do here.

This kind of gives me a glimmer of hope that both of them aren't willing to at least vote me out at this stage in the game. If they'd did.. they'll look like idiots because I'm playing such a horrible game. I have yet to make a big move or win an immunity, I don't have any solid alliances aside from "The Last Hope" which honestly just a circumstantial alliance and most likely we die soon. Taking me at this point is ridiculous because I'm literally the perfect person to sit final 3 with right now.

My game plan at least now is.. I want either Zach or Jake to go. If I can work the angle of Jake or Zach trying to get me out as a way to sway people who think I'm their best friend in this game... yeet. If not I am dead and I will write my own eulogy....

Ok so sorry for the lack of confessionals going on I have a lot (of good things) happening in my life atm. Anyways, I got sent to the basement which sux and now the vote is super stressful!!! I'm pretty much pulling a lot of strings within the tribe atm and trying to balance it all! I have Zach and Jake in my pocket completely!! Jake and Alyssa are like on my coat tail and Jess/Stephen/and Ally are in their grave ready to be destroyed lmaoo. Fingers crossed I don't go home.

im vulnerable, and it's an hour til tribal. i'm unsure of what's going to happen. here's a quick recap:

A - i go to ally/stephen to encourage reconciling. i think this is genuinely smart as we are all 'big threats' and it's stupid to let middle players slide by while helping pin bigger threats against one another. they basically end up agreeing (more so stephen). B - alyssa and tim come to me (separately) saying that they are throwing my name around, and tim goes even further to say that they want to split between me / jake. this sounds really believable based on track record. C - ally pms me saying that she heard X told Jess who told her that i'm targeting stephen. i say it's true, but under the circumstances that people are saying they are going after me. D - we talk in the "alliance" chat and come to a conclusion that jake should be the vote as he best fits the "middle player" role, thus being dangerous. though i disagree, i'm in no position to bury karthik/tim in a hole. E - with karthik spearheading, i help flip the vote from stephen to jess. this is because jess will weaken that side, and i don't trust her. at all. on top of that, it helps me not worry as much abt alyssa being sketchy & it keeps my promise 2 stephen/ally in the sense of not voting stephen (and i can argue saying that with them lying at merge, i had to be reaaaalllllyyyy cautious). F - i'm unsure about my idol. it could still happen. right now i'm leaning towards playing my idol because i want it GONE. by using this idol, here are the outcomes: F.1 - the vote is 4-4 or even more slanted, and i idol successfully, meaning jess will leave this game. F.2 - i receive 0 votes and completely waste it. this makes me more vulnerable, but also, could help if i utilize it correctly/effectively. F.3 - I receive 3 votes (give or take) and it's ineffective but shows that i can't trust ally/stephen and by attachment, jess (who should be gone). i guess my preferred order would be F1 -> F3 -> F2 just because if i use it, i want it to be as effective as possible since wasting an idol isn't going to help my case at FTC (which is already weak LSDGKDSLGDSH).

my gut is really sick (as always bar f9.. so just f10). i don't THINK i'm getting any votes, but u can never be too sure. to elaborate on the entire point of 'F', i want to go over pros n cons of idolling (and wasting it). PROS: - no more paranoia for me (GOD BLESS) - i'm much more vulnerable, meaning they may not target me (double-sided) - im 100% safe regardless, and in f7. CONS: - im more vulnerable; easier to target. - ppl are shook bc i dont trust them/ didnt tell them - its wasted and doesnt help my FTC case.

im furious w my coworker bs under the cut

so i have this one coworker that. i dunno whats goin on but. she’s worked at my work for about 5 months? 6 maybe? and like. I’ve only been here for a year or so but. 

when I first started, someone told me that I was doing something wrong? I’d listen. If i was unsure of something? id ask for clarification. so much, until i was afraid i was annoying all my more senior coworkers.

but this coworker of mine. she just. doesn’t. she fucks up menial tasks and then either leaves without explaining whats going on or says “oh i didnt know” to which usually someone replies “ok, just ask next time youre unsure” (she doesnt. ever)

the one thing shes good at is talking to ppl. not even like. helping ppl find things. literally just chatting. BUT not all of our job is just. talking to ppl. on the rare occasion she actually tries to help someone find something (something like 30% of the time if i had to guess) she either a) shows them something that has nothing to do with what theyre looking for or b) lies about what the thing does. 

and beyond that she doesnt do....nearly any other part of her job, at least not correctly or well. we’re supposed to like. watch “zones” of the place to watch out for stuff going on and she always....leaves hers....without telling anyone so it always a game of “where’s whatshername??” “I dunno”

she doesnt ever like. clean the place when we’re slow, which is...in our description...all she does is find the nearest coworker and start chatting. even if theyre doing something, even if theyre helping someone find something. shes so infamous for just. standing around n chatting that sometimes, when she clocks out, she just. follows another one of my coworkers around and tries to talk to her. she did this for 30 min after her shift ended one time, while Other Coworker was....yknow. working.

the back room at work is rly narrow with a countertop for a table n i always get to work before my shift starts n hang out in the back room so i can like. mentally prepare myself for being a fake social butterfly all day. n when we get shipment it goes in the back door and into the same back room. this wonderful coworker of mine happens to be receiving shipment, so i scoot my chair as close to the table thing as it can go and say “some of these boxes are real big, be careful” n not 5 minutes later she hits my back (right above my discolated disc, mind you) with a 25 pound box n goes in the most fake sounding voice ive ever fuckin heard “ohhhhh my goooood im soooooo sorry” to which i go “nah, its cool, its time for me to go clock in, im heading up”

a few days later she starts insisting she should spot me for lunch to apologize (i find out later this isnt her idea, but the idea of another (very sweet) coworker) and when i say “no thank you, not necessary” she keeps. insisting. following me around the store.

TODAY. today. she fucks me up big time.

i clock out n go to the bathroom at work which is notorious for lookin locked and not being locked and is NOT PUBLIC and only for employees/children/pregnant ppl which is A Known Rule by everyone who works here. while im in there a CUSTOMER who is neither pregnant nor a child opens the door. hey guess what, im trans and already have awfl terrible bad bad bathroom anxiety and i kinda say “whoa whoa whoa” n the guy goes “sorry!” and leaves n closes the door. Regarding the canonity of angelotte relationship, i would say that theirs is one that doesnt rly need a i love you or a kiss to prove their relationship. Not to mention ange did say"i hate the princess"in ep3 while falling,the princess saying"i love the old you"at the boat mission and the "turtledove' thing. There always will be a level of deniability regarding yuri relationships. Some people legit think cocona's i love you to papika is platonic rather than romantic(straight ppl are rly weird)

in case u dont kno cocona/papika is from flipflappers, an anime from the same studio as pri pri,studiio3hz. Not only the anime makes it clear papika/cocona is in a romantic relationship by the end, the director himself states that flipflappers is a yuri anime. On one hand, I know society tends to have a double standard when it comes to same-sex relationships–as in, the old “if a man and a woman even make eye contact then they must be fated to get married and have a bunch of babies but two people of the same gender can literally declare their love for each other and live together afterwards and be ~really good friends~” nonsense–so believing the girls need something definite could be seen as buying into that mentality.

On the other hand, I know how a lot of creators tend to be when it comes to representing minority groups–i.e., it’s treated as another way to draw viewers to the work and is often done more for the entertainment of the majority-group viewers than the benefit of the people actually from the minority being represented, and if they can get that rep and viewership without actually diving into any kind of serious discussion of the group’s experiences or offending sensitive viewers, then all the better.

Which I guess is a long way of saying that portraying two girls with a shit-ton of romantic subtext between them but leaving it up to the fans to interpret the relationship is a way of having your cake and eating it too–all the lesbian imagery, none of the commitment to exploring lesbians’ lives or feelings or possibly drawing negative attention from homophobes. For extra fun, there’s the fact that Japan has already had the Class S thing which depicts sapphic attraction as something that is to be naturally grown out of as part of becoming an adult (straight) woman.

So basically, I know most f/f ships are kept in some state of deniability. I know cishet people are ridiculous. I’m just tired of feeling unsure about everything all the time, of feeling like I can’t say two girls are in love without the paranoia that some goblin could pop up to deny it. I already have to deal with enough denial and doubt as part of who I am, so I don’t enjoy worrying about those doubts in relation to the fiction I consume.

I still like Angelotte, and seeing them together in the show means a lot to me, but I have my lingering doubts about their relationship, and I struggle to call them canon with no disclaimers attached because I don’t want to be disappointed or cause anyone else to be disappointed later.

Anyways, onto the other point.

I actually watched Flip Flappers shortly after I first got into PriPri, so I am familiar with the characters and material you’re talking about, but I’ve never paid much attention to anything outside the show itself, so this is the first I’ve heard of the director calling it yuri or the show having poor sales. I have seen someone complain in an article about how hard it is to discuss how Flip Flappers portrays the recognition of sapphic attraction in yourself without someone jumping in to claim Cocona isn’t sapphic, but that’s about it. I don’t doubt what you’re saying about people denying it though, because people can be obtuse when it comes to this stuff.

However, I’m not sure about the implication you may be making here that FliFla’s sales numbers are the result of it like, not sexualizing its girls enough. The main thing that put me off of FliFla is how much it does sexualize fourteen-year-old girls with things like the transformation sequences and almost every single outfit Yayaka wore (and that’s not even getting into Nyunyu’s outfit, which can barely be considered clothes). Besides, there are many reasons an experimental show like this could under-perform in sales, so I would hope 3hz would have the sense to not blame it on not pandering to perverts enough.
