it was very romantic i felt :) particularly the bits about like. letting go and becoming human, becoming properly tangible with ah xu. sort of accepting the incomprehensibility of their becoming if it makes sense? it was so very romantic to me.i particularly enjoyed the bit about gallows and ghosthood and houses? idk it was just so romantic it brought me to tears!! like it is about love!

i dont really know what the ghost or valley is but i enjoyed that u developed it overtime. also i enjoye dhow the story transitions, from wen kexing alone physically n w his thoughts to the ah xu entering his life, filling his memories n changing him. its good for the tone.

like i got the vibes that wen kexing is a ghostly gloomy man. he seems sorta cynical and forsaken but desiring deeply to be whole i think. the heaviness of his burden was conveyed well. from the visceral n shocking scene of eating his fathers corpse a complete inversion of natural order i guess and love . he feels very trapped, always struggling but not quite able to get there alone. i also found ig a struggle within him to just die lol or Not.

particularly i feel wen kexing's decision to cut down the forest in his heart, his perception of himself as a dying tree, among one of the ghosts (being haunted n himself haunting) rlly emphasise that he is stuck and this death looms ever forward

ALSO AAAAH PHYSICIALITY!!! i liked that how its used.. being able to be touched by others to confirm you are a living thing or believe you are but now

anuyways sorry this was long n rambly n nothing but really!! it felt like such a nice love story somehow!!

HELLO DEAR LAB!!Thank you SO MUCH for such a long and thorough and beautiful analysis of my story, i let out a funny sound of joy like 10 times while reading it!!!!! Your perception of the story is pretty much exactly what I was trying to convey with it - i feel a little proud of both of us, and blessed to have a reader as wonderful as you!

In the novel there is a fraction of people called "ghosts" who live in that valley cast away from society, but it's never really explored what that status MEANS for them so this was my take on it - in a way it's canon compliant, but most of the ideas came from my crazy overthinking hehe, I'm really happy you enjoyed! I'm very happy you perceived this story as deeply romantic, because that was the goal - writing about painful things like suicidal ideation, haunting and eating your father's corpse (he does actually do that in the novel OUCH) and having it still be a love story... There is definitely a lot of struggle to Just Die in Wen Kexing. Like Ah Xu explicitly wants to die in the novel and everyone always talks about that, but i also perceived the same in Wen Kexing and felt that that was one of the reasons they were able to connect and wanted to write about it. I'm happy you were able to get such a good grip on his character from my writing alone! I also usually avoid writing about physicality so I'm glad it fit in well here and served the story well !

Star In A Garden!

made this recently and did a speedpaint of it on my youtube channel!! i rlly like how it came out, and i think i'm gonna stop using cell shading (since i used to do a mix of it and blended shading, whatever technical term thats called) in the future bc this just provides the look im after (although i am still a fan of the old shading style lol)

i rlly like how the hair and clothing came out with the shading, as well as the design of the clothes lol

coulda improved with the shading of the mouth and nose, as well as making it more obvious the jewellery is gold (basically make it more shiny), but otherwise i am rlly proud of this piece :)

i don't do lineless or drastic shading vry often but i enjoy them a lot lol

also tried to make the purple eye look like it was glowing using a different method than usual, i rlly like the outcome :D

yosano being a doctor also tries to teach the things you should know, or things that would be helpful to you

she’ll teach you the basics of cooking, sewing, how to treat a cold/fever, etc

he’ll let you stay in his office as he fills out paperwork; you’re usually doodling or drawing in your notebooks

sometimes he’ll meditate and you’ll join him, but 4/7 times you’d fall asleep

you always wake up with a blanket over you

dazai is like a cool but a highly concerning and kind of high maintenance uncle

frequently takes you out with him when he ditches work

walks in the park, eating at uzumaki so he has the excuse of treating you so he doesn’t have to pay his tab avoiding kunikida and sometimes chuuya and akutagawa, all that fun stuff

also tries to not talk abt suicide in front of you especially if it’s just the two of you alone

he knows that you mean the world to his pupil and that said pupil would probably hate him for putting suicide inside your brain

he teaches you random but useful things like how to pick a lock, how to steal kunikida’s notebook if you’re looking for some information, how to sweet talk your way out of things, etc.

is also the one to tell you that if you ever get a significant other to introduce them to the agency first

he always wants all of your gossip; some of them work pretty well for blackmail

“dazai-san! dazai-san! did you know that kunikida-san lost his glasses and he was looking for them for nearly an hour when he was just holding them the entire time??”

“woah really (y/n)-chan?! hey hey can you say it again into this recording device so kunikida-kun would believe me when i tell him—”

always ends up giving kunikida a heart attack when he says that you’ve been with him all day

the tanizakis are like siblings to you!

a weird set of siblings but siblings nonetheless

the two of them adore you and think you’re precious

atsushi definitely knows how to do your hair whether it’s long or short but he got even better at it when he asked the two

hehe braid trains are definitely a thing + kyouka and kenji (and maybe even dazai)

sometimes you have sibling swap days

you’re with junichiro for most of the day and atsushi is with naomi

strange i know

each of the tanizaki siblings try to make it fun bc they know that the two of you did not at all have a happy upbringing

junichiro likes spending time with you by taking you out to different places that naomi likes to frequent

like the mall, different stores and restaurants, the park, places like those

naomi does the same thing with atsushi so if you ever bump into them, you go out and eat together :)

besides atsushi, the next one in line who spoils you the most would be junichiro (and yosano & kunikida both coming in at a close third)

he honestly can’t help it; you remind him of how naomi was when she was younger

he’s always been a sucker when it came to the happiness of a little sister

suddenly atsushi bursts in the agency basically on the verge of tears rambling incoherent sentences abt the bathroom, you, and blood

it just clicked for everybody in the room

(im going to pretend that kenji has sisters back home so that atsushi is the only one who remain oblivious here hehe)

atsushi is genuinely confused and sort of concerned that no one is freaking out with him

yosano waves her hand saying smth like that she’d take care of it and junichiro pulls atsushi to the side to talk to him

fast forward like half and hour and dazai and ranpo are cackling on the looks of both of your faces

honestly not sure who’s more traumatized, you or your brother

“why does this have to happen” :(

“ne ne (y/n)-chan!~ you’re too young but at some point you’re not going to have it!”

“uwahh really dazai-san?” :D

next thing you know your ears are being covered by your brother and dazai is thrown across the room by kunikida

as tanizaki and naomi used to be students, they give you their old work books and they try to teach you all the other subjects

Hinata

- He would. 

- 10/10 would recommend.

- He would stare at you for a minute and be like, “what?” then you would show him the bottle of nail polish and he would just U N D E R S T A N D

- He would definitely flaunt it to his team. would be so proud.

- Honestly doesn't care about the color, just wants his nails DONE.

- Like, you could be the worst at applying it and get it all over his cuticles and fingers and smudge it everywhere, but he will still love how you did it . It doesn't even have to be all fancy with a design or something or rhinestones he will still love it.

- But...

-Please do the rhinestones and designs. H e will literally be so happy. Smack a volleyball or a dumpling design on those nails and he will literally cry. Rhinestones? He will carry around a little flashlight and shine it on the stones to see them sparkle.

- He just wants to do it and maybe have matching nails with you.

- Don't even ask he’ll do it.

Tsukishima

-No. NopE.

-Im sorry bby, but he will not.

- Would stare at you for a whole of two seconds and say no then go back to whatever the heck this man was doing

- Might consider it if you chose a flat or rlly subtle color like...grey. or white.

-Boring. maybe if you included dinosaurs.

-Will be mad at first, but will eventually get used to it.

-HE WILL BE SO HAPPY TO DO IT.

- PROBABLY WALKS IN ON YOU PAINTING YOUR NAILS ALONE AND WILL ASK IF YOU CAN DO HIS.

- 1000/10 would recommend

- Won’t flaunt it, but will totally be proud to tell everyone why his nails are painted.

-Probably get everyone else to get their nails painted by you as well.

- Gets you to paint his and the rest of the teams nails before every big match. team colors.

- Whenever he goes shopping with you low-key looks for new nail polish and buys it when you aint lookin’.

- Probably has a whole variety of slightly different shades of the teams colors.

- Isnt too flashy so might not want rhinestones or sparkles, but will definetely love any little chibi designs you put on.

- Especially the animals. Give him a giraffe and he will be so i love with them, he will be staring at his nails the whole time.

- Will be so happy he asked the first time.

Asahi 

-Will definitely be shy at first. 

-If you ask him he will be all blushy and stuttery, but will agree.

- But after you finish, he will definitely end up smudging it and ruining anything you put on it.

- Designs? Gone. Ruined.

-Rhinestones? Fell off. never to be seen again.

-Glitter? Mess. Don't even ask.

- Will apologize about a million times and might even let you fix them, and will not move an inch until you tell him to move.

- Will basically be a ragdoll when it comes to you doing his nails, but will ask you to get the. STUFF. OFF. WHEN HE LEAVES.

-Otherwise is totally open about whatever. maybe makeovers and stuff is welcome, but only after a lot of bribing and begging.

“Hey, I’m glad you trust me with your feelings,” you softly murmured which somehow traveled to Yeonjun’s ear, and he finally glanced up with a deep frown settled on his face. He just sighed, wincing as he moved to wipe his glossy eyes after a while. Sitting right in front of you, he hopelessly covered his face to no avail with his bloody hands, the ones that abused the wall from behind him and not to mention, his knuckles as well. 

Just an hour or two ago, you were witnessing him dig his knuckles into the wall, excruciating punch by punch while glossy tears streamed against the valleys of his cheeks. Your teeth rattled with every hit he threw towards it, but there was nothing else you could do but watch until he let everything out. 

Nonetheless, you were surprised to see him this late into the night but you had to mention you were disappointed too. It was right after your little study session in the local library in order to ace the test that was coming, nose filled in a few hardcover books as your mind took you to places where you’d never been able to achieve. All of it was boring as hell, but you had to study for this one since it was important. Before you knew it, the time was coming to the steady yet shorter hand of eight o’clock, and you needed to leave before the cranky, old librarian shouted at you to leave.

This time when you saw him grunting in agony as he clubbed the brick walls, you couldn’t help yourself. You told yourself time and time again not to mess with him since guys like him only bring trouble but when it came to Yeonjun, the scenario was quite different. 

You were a bit sad that he couldn’t tell you about this problem, although why would he when you were both basically strangers? The first time you met was something memorable, for perhaps you were the first person to see him cry at lunch in a lone place. You wanted to help him- you needed to! And speaking quite honestly, you didn’t mind. You really didn’t mind at all. That poor look on his face as he realized you were watching every tear fall from his eyes the first time you met... you just weren’t able to resist seeing someone so strong practically fall apart in front of you. 

To Yeonjun though, he hated being like this in front of you. Weak, pathetic, foolish, vulnerable, all those stupid words to describe it. He felt sick to his stomach, mind swarming with multiple curses as he watched you inch closer to him. You’d only been friends for a few months because of one incident, but he still couldn’t wrap his mind around this. Weren’t you supposed to be scared of him or something? What a shame that didn’t work now because he looked so damn fragile before you. 

“How about we go home now? Do you want me to take you home?” He perked up at the sound of your voice as you took his knuckles into your hand, holding back the urge to moan from the washing pain over his own. You pulled him up as best as you could with a little help from him, smiling when he stood tall and proud of you instead of swimming in the feeling of desperation.

A genuine smile painted your lips as you looked up at him, not knowing the immediate response he surprisingly had to it. Yeonjun’s cheeks heated up at the fact that you were grinning so widely in front of him, blossoming into red roses as he couldn’t avert his eyes away from your face. Internally but without realizing, he sketched out your adorable nose and simply soft looking cheeks, so that he could always come back to this memory whenever he missed you. Your eyes were sparkling in the street light, dazzling white snow falling between the both of you as he sighed in pure happiness. Every time you were near, these feelings he tried so hard to stop always returned, and he found himself admiring you all the more. More than what a friend should feel. 

The freezing, shaking hand intertwined with his made him retract in surprise, hands swiftly gripping the ends of his own oversized hoodie with worry. 

“You’re shaking, baby. Didn’t I tell you to dress warmly during the winter a month ago?”

He remembered that...? 

Hastily he threw off his hoodie, murmuring towards your direction to lift up your arms in which you easily did from how fast he was going. You gasped at the sheer size of the sweatshirt which fit you warmly, protecting you from the freezing, biting cold while Yeonjun’s chest reverberated from a few chuckles of satisfaction. 

You were adorable. 

“But you don’t even-”

He pulled you close, clearly enjoying how you shyly shut your mouth when he did so. A smirk replaced the deep frown on his face from before when he realized you weren’t taking him seriously, and he sneakily leaned down to press a sweet, chaste kiss against your forehead. 

“It’s fine, baby~ Now, can I have another kiss? Right here?” He pointed towards his lips, causing you to widen your shocked mouth just a little as you watched him lean down. This- this wasn’t what friends did... but who were you to talk when you stood on your tippy-toes anyway? 

Maybe Yeonjun did have a soft spot for you. Or maybe it was because he always knew.
