There is absolutely 0 order to this. Also I did 11 because I thought of all of these and then kept going back and forth about which one to eliminate and I couldn’t do it!! They’re all here for different reasons so I’m saying fuck the rules everybody lives! I am an absolute Album Listener like I’m usually in the mood for a specific album and I’ll listen straight through(but maybe skip a couple songs here and there)

1. Montaigne- Complex (This is the first year in like 3 years that Montaigne hasn’t been my number 1 or 2 artist on wrapped but all their albums still absolutely rule but this one is my fave.)

2. The Killers- Sam’s Town (I’ve been a Killers fan since I saw Somebody Told Me on the vh1 top 20 video countdown ✌️Hot Fuss is a banger but Sam’s Town holds a special place. Remember when we had song ringtones? The song Sam’s Town from the album Sam’s Town was mine for so long in high school.)

3. Punisher- Phoebe Bridgers (the soundtrack of my 2020 I used to come home exhausted from work and sit in bed and listen to punisher straight through and read fanfic to unwind. In hindsight not a Great Time but in the moment it kept me sane)

4. Coheed and Cambria- In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth 3 (the amount of Coheed I listened to in college was astronomical. For a while they got linked to a shitty time so I couldn’t listen but seeing them in the line up for WWWY is bringing me back babeyyy. Honestly big respect to Claudio Sanchez for making a whole band and multiple albums around his little OCs)

5. My Chemical Romance- The Black Parade (truly do I have to explain)

6. Petey- Lean Into Life (Petey made up 28% of my top 100 songs this year alone so he’s earned his place)

7. The Wombats- Glitterbug (I was torn between this one and Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life but Headspace being on Glitterbug means it wins)

8. Metric- Live It Out (Another HS/College banger. I used to get so anxious during boss/big enemy fights in video games so I would listen to this album and sometimes specifically Monster Hospital on repeat. Sad I don’t like any of Metrics stuff post Fantasies but their early albums are great)

9. One Direction- Made In The AM (if yall haven’t been here for long you missed the 1D years and tbh I’m sad for you it was a fun time. Glad I got in as a fully cooked adult so I could avoid the extremely toxic parts and just have fun. Anyway last album best album when is the hiatus ending boys!!!!!!!!!)

10. Rilo Kiley- The Execution Of All Things(back to HS/college woohoooo! Truly is there anything better than screaming A Better Son/Daughter I DONT THINK SO)

11. Modest Mouse- We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank (Missed The Boat is one of my favorites songs of all time. This is another band that got stuck in the Associated With Bad Person zone for awhile but I just relistened a couple years ago and we’re so back baby)

PLASTIC DEATH BY GLASS BEACH.... yeah i still am really enjoying this album upon relistens. their first album was nice but this one blew it out of the water man. production's better. singing's better. i love how many marimbas there inexplicably are. i love how genuinely interesting songs get. i LOVE the noisy elements. i LOVE slip under the door. i feel that there's a more pronounced radiohead influence in the melodic vocals. im really really happy that there's good, scratchy screaming as well. i couldnt really make out most of the lyrics compared to the first album because i was focusing so much on the sound, & the vocals sacrifice verbal cohesion for textured emotional gravity (WHICH I QUITE LIKE), but what lyrics i DO know, i like. i have overwhelmingly positive feelings on it

Im tired of these guys “the pitstop boys” who often got the opportunity to be on the paddock or the sponsors let them interview the drivers and they they have the AUDACITY to say to f2 drivers that their fans don’t care about racing at all because they are mostly women //

wait, when I watched the podcast, I don’t remember them particularly saying women (although the pitstop boys are so sus so I would be surprised if they implied it). I’m more angry for JM, a man who almost lost his life in f2, had to work his way back up, only for a f1 content creator to 1) not know you, and 2) say that no cares about you guys racing. It’s very disrespectful and you can see that JM was not having it but kept himself reserved. I would say there is a portion of the f1 community who don’t watch the races, people who are casual, but there are people like us who are ultra hyper focused on Motorsport, and especially as women, need to prove our spot in this sport. It’s so fucking annoying. All genders have people who don’t watch everything but when a clueless bloke like the pitstop boys make content on shit they clearly don’t know about, it’s fine. When a woman makes content about shit, whether they know shit about it or not, you will see comments saying “women ☕️ “. It’s fucking sad. Lizzie doesn’t have to make the effort to know every aspect of Motorsport, let alone formula one, but at least she tries to make meaningful connections with the drivers and staff members she interviews. Can’t say the same for the pitstop boys 🤡. I will still give SM the benefit of the doubt because that are still growing as people, are unsure of their podcasts direction, and it’s quite hard to call out someone on you podcast who illegitimizes your racing career without coming off as rude. But if I see this become more of a pattern, I might have to stop watching altogether.

So women come into the equation, not so much because of what the pit stop boy said but what Marcus said afterward about how he doesn't think most of the podcast fans do not watch races either (or whatever he said, i am not going back to relisten). They have openly spoken about how 90% or a similar figure of the listeners of the podcast are women so for him to know that and still say that most of the podcast fans don't actually watch races is saying that he doesn't think the female fans watch races. And I think that is really what is fueling the outrage -- it's hurt. Fans are hurt by Marcus saying that. I think if the pit stop boys had said that and Marcus hadn't followed up with his comment, it'd be discourse but there wouldn't be the hurt -- if that makes sense??

but I agree, the look on JMC's face says so much through it and I disagree on how hard it is for SM to call out the Pit Stop boys because it's THEIR podcast, THEIR careers that they've worked their whole lives for. It would've been different if Screaming Meals had done a guest appearance on Pit Stop Boys but I don't quite think we should let SM off quite so easily.

I do hope this is a learning experience for the SM boys but I guess we'll see.

Starting off the week, I had a relisten to the entirety of the Technomancy Project because I have a problem <3 I love the Technomancy Project so much and will likely relisten again soon

Episodes 5 and 6 of @doyoucopypod have made me feel EMOTIONS. Episode 5 in particular made me cry. At my desk. At work. Cody Heath has made me cry with this show TWICE. And I wouldn't have it any other way

2. wake up - this song is classic ateez sound ‼️AND I LOVE THAT‼️ i was like surely this wont make my ranking any harder—YOU CAN HEAR MY VOICE!! kinda like cyberpunk pt 2 which was the best song off the movement. i cant wait to play a crazy shooter to this. jongho once again eating up the whole industry with his power.

3. bouncy - this song has been stuck in my head since i saw the mv this morning. RAPPER SEONGHWA!!! begging the dj to play this next time i go out no shame. also sans sit back and relax everybody that is my BIAS and that killed me three times i love it. this song is actually such a fun fun title i love it ateez titles are never disappointing

4. django - this album is so hard to rank there is not a single skip here; WOAH WOAH WOAH love that part it fucks!! oh my god the jongho and the ‘you better run’ i am kicking and screaming this is so good. this is only slightly above the world because of that and the outro they are basically the same rank

album highlights: every rap verse eats. jongho eating up every vocal part. EVERYONE in the bouncy mv. im sure the lore in it is also insane im just behind. ateez made an album with no skips. this. this may quite possibly be my favorite boy group album this year so far. that is actually insane.

tldr; it did not take long at all for this comeback to grow on me i love it so much. i find that with most new songs my first listen is always very apathetic and/or ??? LOL and there exists only a small handful of songs that i immediately was like oH MY GOD (this is across all artists i listen to) but yeah i always forget that when listening to new music and i think this comeback is the first time i fully acknowledged that my first listen is rarely (and doesnt need to be) instant likesies. theres a lot of small bits throughout the album that remind me of other songs (not a bad thing, just smth i noticed i kept noticing?). topline, dlc, the sound and time out were/are my favs hehe (update: relistening to the album again and collision and fnf are creeping up to my favs too help)
