Between The Lines fan art! Is it weird to make fan art for a fandom that probably doesn't exist? Is it even weirder to like a musical but wish you could write it "In Other Words" I love Between The Lines and its concepts, but it doesn't feel fully baked. There's a lot of cringy dialogue, a little bit of pandering to queer audiences, and seems confused on what it wants to be (it wants to be mean girls, it wants to be next to normal, it wants to be an edgy subvert of fair tales, ect.) It has great bones but it could be better. I would suggest you go read the script on the MTI website and listen to the cast album and you'll see what I mean. I have a whole script written out in how I would change/ "fix" it. Anyway, here's my own designs for Delilah and Oliver. There's a key in the middle because I like to imagine the book "Between The Lines" having a little lock on the side that you have to unlock with a key on the end of the book mark tassel thing. I am very normal about this show lmao.

The thing that bugs me most about "gen z is so ____!" types of language is that it almost always disregards the difference in age.

"Gen Z doesn't work" well yeah duh, most of them are still students. Or new in their careers and not being given the biggest tasks.

"They don't respect their elders!" Who did when they were a teen?

"They always want what they don't have!" Again, Young. They don't have a lot of their own yet. They're still trying things out.

"They just want to leach off their parents" Gen Z is still at the age where they should be expected to look to their parents for support and advice.

at first - you know introverts often need smaller friend groups, and honestly, you're fine staying at home too. you like the small, tidy life you occupy. you're not going to punish him for his personality type.

except: he really does hate everyone but you. which means he doesn't get along with his therapist. which means he has no one to talk to except for you. which means you take care of him constantly, since he otherwise has no one. which means you sometimes have to apologize for him. which means he keeps you home from seeing your friends because he hates them. you're the single exception.
