The opportunity chapter 3

a/n: Honey, honey wake up, Hades posted a new chapter of the opportunity . Yes, after a few days, i decided to post the next chapter of this fic. it takes me a while to write these things because i am drawing him as well just haven't finished it yet. i do take request and ideas as well if you have any.

warnings: heimdall being heimdall as always, FAIR WARING im writing heimdall in a slow develop so this man is TOUGH to crack but it'll be allll worth it.

“Get up,” Heimdall commanded, looking at you from afar as you struggled on the floor, getting up with a slight grunt. Odin insisted that you received training after your travel with Thor, Odin saying for you to leave Asgard you have to at least know somewhat defensive training, he wasn’t calling you weak, just wanted to learn, so you could be safe but what you didn’t know was that you were going to receive training from the worst person you could imagine. 

Waking you up, bright early in the morning for something that felt more like a beating than training. Flexing your knuckles on the grip of your wooden sword, “do I have to do this?” letting out a big sigh, finally able to stand up longer than a couple of seconds. You two circle around each other, light footsteps in the mud of the training ground, he wasn’t even looking at you. Probably at something behind you, not giving you a breath of care.

 “I don’t know why you are complaining, I thought blacksmiths could ACTUALLY fight” mocking you with a smirk on his lips, you wish you could wipe that smirk off his face, charging at him again.

He saw it coming a mile away, dodging your pathetic attempt, “my, my, did I strike a nerve?” sticking a foot out to make you trip, something you fell for but caught yourself quickly, not trying to fall into the mud again.

 This fight started to feel like bullying, of course, because it’s Heimdall after all, he didn’t try, and he didn’t care. Which pissed you off, even more, the fact that he wasn’t even taking you seriously. It seemed like he made it his objective to make you feel like utter trash compared to him, “you have your foresight, that’s the only reason you're better” you’ve had with him, circling each other with the need to at least get a hit on him.

“Even without foresight, I’m still better” looking at his nails, not giving you even the slightest glance. Swinging your sword at him again, dodging with no effort, “the more you try to hit me in predictable places, the more tired I get” every word made it feel like he was stepping on you, doubting your ability to fight for yourself. You decided to take another approach coming at him with your full speed of nonstop swinging, he dodges with great speed, laughing at her attempts, and shoving her down to the ground with a big kick afterward “So pathetic. Do you commoners ever learn?” He crouches down to you, smirking like an asshole.  Lifting yourself up with a slight grunt, you look up at him from below, pissed. Treating you as if you are any different from him.

“I always learn” 

Using your hand to flick the mud under you to him, get his clothes coated in mud, smirking. He grimaced at his shirt, looking back at you in disgust before pointing the sword's tip at your neck “fucking pest” you felt the sharpness of his sword dig into your neck, wincing in pain, and the thoughts in your head weren't helping either. Started overthinking the situation, Is he going to kill you or do something even worse, not until you heard that slight crackle of thunder in the sky. “Ugh, shit.”  Pulling the blade away from your neck and sheaths his sword, turning around. 

Thor appears furrowed, looking between you and his brother. “Mind telling me why y/n is on the floor, …covered in mud” he questioned him, walking up to you two. Your eyes find the god of thunder standing near you, still sitting on the ground, below Heimdall. Today was your lucky day having your ass saved by him, you didn’t expect it to happen either. 

Heimdall looked up at the taller man, rolling his eyes in response. “Don't you have other things to do” Thor didn’t really like that answer looking at him. From looking between these two, you could tell there was a lot of tension, just like how normal brothers usually have.

“ It doesn’t matter if I didn’t have anything to do, all father didn’t bring her here just for you to treat her like trash” he speaks in between his teeth, frustrated, and disgusted with his actions. Scoffing at him, Thor goes to pick you up by the shoulder, helping you if needed. 

The Aesir watches his brother, help you up, making him even more confused “I'm not treating her like trash, she already IS. Can't even throw a damn hit with the sword” what was his task here? Make you even madder or try to piss his brother off even more. The man only ignored his remarks, making sure you weren’t injured or anything.

“He isn’t wrong” he looks over at you, wondering why you're feeding into Heimdall's bullshit.

“You aren't, he's just an asshole, and you need a better trainer…one who is willing to help you. Will get sif to clean you up alright” he tells you, guiding you back to the lodge, not giving Heimdall any attention.

He knew you two were ignoring him on purpose,  “yes, have Sympathy for this commoner.” His tone was annoyed and almost tired in a way, kicking the mud in before turning around and walking away from the lodge. Probably to find someone else to mess with. Once Thor brought you to sif, her questions never stopped on who did it or why you're covered in the mud in the first place. These two were like an big brother and sister in a way, they were protective over you. Heimdall is the last person they want you to be around, Thor went on his way to Odin while sif talked about maybe getting training with her daughter or letting Thor help you. 

Another day of suffering from Heimdall's worse training is not on your bucket list.

It was getting late on Asgard, you sat inside the lodge sharpening a small pick knife you made while you sat at the mess hall table. Trying to distract yourself from earlier events that transpired, a tap on your shoulder caught you off guard, making you jump. Turning around, it was only sif holding a plate before sitting it down.

“I didn’t mean to scare you, but could you go get Heimdall for me? Dinner is going to be served.” You were so focused on your thoughts that you didn’t realize how late it was getting.

Standing up, and stretching, you look at her, “where is he?” You asked, you never really knew where he slept, washed, or even went whenever he was not doing his ‘job’.

“There’s a small cabin built near the wall, all father built that little thing for him to be close to the wall for less traveling. You’ll find him there.” Hearing all that made you question many other things this place has, only finding out today where Heimdall usually hides. Coming outside being greeted by the cold breeze of the night, wasn’t freezing cold, but you loved the feel of it. Taking the pathway as you walked past buildings and structures of Asgard, the town was quiet around this time. Something you aren’t quite used to yet.

Coming up on a hill, and seeing the cabin sif was talking about. Squinting your eyes, you could see Heimdall talking to some women, maybe another Aesir or who knows. You thought the conversation was going well, not until the woman shakes her head and walks away from him, heading in a different direction. You waited a few seconds before walking up to him, he noticed your approach, sighing from being welcomed by another annoyance 

“What do you want?” looking at you with a flat expression on his face. You really wanted to kick him in the dick, but you were too tired for any of the consequences.

“Sif told me to come to get you for supper,” you told him, his expression changed slightly, looking somewhat relaxed then back to its flat expression. Walking past you without warning nor an answer, “I’m guessing that’s a yes” you followed behind heading back to the lodge with him, the walk was silent since he already didn’t like your presence around him. Arriving back at the lodge, the table was plated and Thor just came to sit down once you two walked in. Heimdall sat on the with Odin, you were sitting in between all father and Heimdall, Thor and his wife chatted about a few things while you sat silent.

You're surprised that the foresight sat silent too, probably just listening to Odin talk his ears off about something “so, how did the training with Heimdall go?” Thrud asked in a whisper, turning to her with a slight smile.

“It was something, I’m lucky to even be alive”

“He can truly be an asshole when you're fighting him” Heimdall’s eyes glanced over at her with a grunt of annoyance, hearing the asshole part, the two of you talked more about fighting and different techniques. Sparking a light in you that made you talk about the many things your father taught you, even though it was a lot, thrud didn’t mind listening to you. You were so focused on that, you didn’t know the watcher scanned you a few times with his purple irises. He’ll never admit it, but your conversation sounded more interesting than what the all father was talking about to him. Tonight you were lucky, avoiding any of Heimdall’s daily bullying.

When everyone finished their meals, you volunteered to clean up the tables, assisting the cooks. Hearing the door of the lodge open and close, you look up to see Heimdall enter. He must’ve come in here for all father, as you collected the plates you felt an over looming presence near you. Gazing beside you, seeing the Aesir look at you with narrowed eyes, what could be wanted this late? 

“Yes?”

He lets out a heavy sigh that could notice his chest moving, “I apologize for throwing you in the mud earlier”  at first you didn’t hear him, or you just weren’t hearing him correctly. Was he apologizing to you? From the look in his eyes, you could tell he was focusing on your thoughts, licking his pink lips in annoyance. Wait, why were you looking at his lips just now. “Yes, I am apologizing to you, commoner.” He repeats himself, so you could get some clarity on the situation. 

“Oh, it’s alright just don’t be a dick next time” he watched you get back to what you were doing, cleaning the table as if he wasn’t there. You continue to wipe the table, he takes the dishes you collect and takes them to the kitchen without you noticing until you look up. Seeing him leave the kitchen, the look on your face was priceless. Maybe he was considering your words for the first time in months.

“Be ready by the morning for your next training, commoner” or maybe you hoped a little too soon but some progress is better than no progress.

I've put all of my reading on hold while I finish up my own fic,so I'm a lil behind, but I just wanted to say congratulations for making it to the end, and thank you for sharing such a lovely piece with the world! It's been really inspiring to me as a writer and I'm super excited to read the last two chapters. I don't know if you have anything in mind going forward with other writing, but if that's something you decide you want to continue doing then I'll be more than stoked to see what you come up with.

Okay that's enough of that, any more and it'll start getting weird...

thanks so much! it's wild to have actually finished this thing, partially because im unfortunately not in the habit of finishing writing projects and also because its just. its just so long. probably longer than anything ive ever written before.

and ive got a couple other writing ideas bouncing around (ofc) but i think im gonna try prioritizing some original works, since ive been telling ppl im going to make a comic for literal years now so i should probably actually Do That.

still ive learned my lesson with Frequency: if i ever start writing another fic it's gotta be done before i post anything about it. my love of a satisfyingly consistent update schedule is at odds with both life and my struggle to act under pressure, so it might be a lil while before i commit to another big fan work

5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? Oh jeeze, we'll have to harken back to pre-therapy Mags, well before 2023, for this question. (Current Mags has had a ton of therapy.) Probably I Stole Away and Cried [Supernatural RPF, M, 5.7k words]?

6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending? I am a lady who loves a happy ending. I'm going to nominate So I Will Weather the Storm [Red, White & Royal Blue, E, 9.8k words] for Happiest Ending in a Mags Fic.

7. Do you write crossovers? I used to write fics with elements of both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel the Series, but I feel like that... doesn't really count. I also cross canons in the Red, White & Royal Blue fandom... but again it feels like it doesn't count.

8. Have you ever received hate on a fic? Absolutely. The early 2000s were a volatile time on the internets, as we fandom olds say.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? AHAHAHAHA wait, you're serious. Um... M/M, with a pocketful of kinks thrown in for flavor? My Kinktober 2023 [Red, White & Royal Blue, E, 92k words] series is a good place to get an idea of what sort of smut I write.

10. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not to my knowledge, but I haven't been on Fanfiction.Net in approximately 15 years, and don't have a Wattpad account, so... who knows!

I speak English and German fluently, but when it comes to Alex's Spanish in my RWRB fic, for example, I rely heavily on online lexicons and people who actually speak the language natively.

"2k is long" is also nonsense i'm so sorry 😭 2k is barely anything if you're trying to introduce an AU and actually flesh in a setting and especially if you're trying to show different personality traits 😭 your fic are mostly AUs with really well thought out lore, and it needs the word count to breathe and establish everything. if someone's attention span is too short to read more than - what - 2 pages? that's their problem, not yours! fwiw, my fic lengths range with the shortest starting at around 5k and the longest getting close to 30k and i have never had anyone leave a complaint about the length! people are more than willing to sit through 10k+ just to get to the smutty stuff, and they usually end up enjoying the rest of the fic as well. do not worry about it! you're doing just fine 🩷

I don't often look at the length of a fic unless im updating someone on how long its getting. My shortest wip is 100 words. And. Ive posted it to here bcs i feel it'll never be finished.

If it does get finished eventually then i will post it as a fic but. Until then it sits in my drafts.

My fics almost always include worldbuilding to at least 3k now. Though not all of them were like that.

Do you want in on a secret? I don't think out the world for my aus. It fleshes itself out. I think on what may happen n go from there. The story writes itself. I am just a vessel for the words and visions.

I am absolutely terrible at worldbuilding if im doing it consciously.

Its why i have visible headcanons for idols. But i just can't put them into words haha.

The most i think through is 'what sort of details would enhance this and make it better to read'

And then thats where i go from!

Siren!ivan was originally supposed to be more non-con than it is rn. The consent is not proper consent tho but thats bcs. Well. Siren wants what he wants and he will convince dann to give it to him.

Though. Thats a little bit of a spoiler. It is going to be tagged accordingly. Don't worry ill tag fics right.

The fic i thought through the most, probably is one ive not even started wtiting. The dissection fic. I gotta do all sorts of research so i can make sure its accurate and well done.

Which unfortunately means i gotta look at anatomy from a more medical standpoint. Need to go find a book for that..

The first fic i put out actually has a very strong plot hole. That i told myself id patch before posting it but. I didn't.

That plot hole was the reasoning as to why ivan was doing that to hwon. It has a very weak reason and i could absolutely fix it now. But. Not this year.

I write ab 5k minimum most of the time haha. I prefer letting the story fill itself out n then helping fine tune details. Its why i really can't tell you how long a fic may be.

So far my longest fic is 16k words. Published. Theres more unpublished. That's for the abandoned but not orphaned one.

I may return to it eventually. That's why i didn't wanna orphan it.

All of my fics stop at a point they organically would have stopped at. When i feel it can't really take another scene. I end it. That usually leaves spaces for part twos to them as well!

But i like exploring aus as i write them.

Fun fact! I write aus bcs im worried that if i do anything else i may accidentally copy someone else's idea.

I do get inspired by the other kd writers. Oh gods do i get inspired.

Lee, lunar, eve, even erin, who encourages the hwonicide. They all inspire me in their own ways. Does that usually come in the form of a prompt to note down asap? Yeah.

But other ways are helping with details for fics. And they are all very welcome to chat ab fics w me. I don't steal ideas. Not without permission and changing it to be my own.

I have a prompt that is inspired by eve's fic Clear My Mind (eve is karmacumover btw!)

But it is different. I may show her the prompt itself if she wants to see it haha.

But i love working on fics. Even if I can't be proud of them as a 'look i made this!' i can still look at the work and go 'yeah. Thats good.'

Thank you lee for helping me figure out how to do that. It was amazing to be able to step back and go 'thats a good story' if i removed myself from it.

The lee im referring to here is intenselysalmon. So she knows who im referring to.

One day. One day my goal is to be proud of how much I've written. Of what I've written.

Its a goal i think is far away. But the more i talk to other writers. The more i realize.

Im not as bad at writing as i think i am.

Honestly id never even considered myself a good writer, until i asked writers like lee and erin their feedback on my works. And they both said i write well. Maybe a little dialogue heavy but. Thats fine i can work on it.

Im doing my best. And im trying to ensure i continue getting better.

The more i talk to other writers and see how they talk ab my writing. The more i go. 'maybe im too harsh on myself' but. As they say, you are your own worst critic.

Honestly i never even considered my work good enough to do much with. But. Lunar still offered to possibly do a collab or fic trade. And i keep thinking on it. Maybe.

It makes me think they find me a better writer than i find myself to be.

Then i see eve, reacting to some of the xlips of airen!ivan ive put out. And she's reacting as i would for any of lee's clips. I find lee an amazing writer. It seems eve thinks of me that way too.

Im trying to wrap my head around it. But the reason i am so harsh on myself is. Anxiety and self doubt. And i need to work through them.

Thats the first time ive admitted that.

I will work through my weaknesses, and be better than before. Slowly. It takes time. I have to be patient.

One day. One day i will be able to proudly say 'im a good writer'

Its not today. But. It will be an eventuality.

What’s something new that you tried in a fic this year? How did it turn out and would you do it again?

While this past year has been a wonderful and unique experience all on its own, it's gotta be writing "out of order"

Slow and Steady all happens in the same universe and the same timeline, but I wanted to try and let smaller stories flow together into one without having to worry about writing them all at that way

3. What’s something you learned about yourself as a writer?

That I get too much into a single "universe" and refuse to leave it. Im glad that this allows me to delve deeper into the characters emotions in a particular situation, but it also hinders my creativity that it becomes harder to write anything different or anything too different

Leaving is possible, but not as easy

9. What fic meant the most to you to write?

.... I tried to find a different answer, but It'd be a gross lie to say 2023 wasn't the year I posted some of the heaviest and hardest to go through chapters of BW

Thanks to BW I was able to allow myself to explore a lot of feelings and thought-patterns that I usually gloss over in my head because they're either too painful or too overwhelming to consider on my own, but in fiction, if felt more doable

It's only appropriate that I rec Slow and Steady, considering it started as a 2023 challenge (but will live on for much longer lol)

Kind of a way for me to hop between different points of their relationship without being stuck with a plot or particular narrative

Black Water, Ch 20. Not The "pillow talk" but the part just before it. Annie isn't used to comforting and supporting Armin with words rather than actions, but this is the first time since the beginning of the timeline she does it and it'll always has a place in my heart

22. Share an excerpt from your favorite scene

Black Water, ch 17:

It was just this morning that Armin woke up alone. This same bed felt too big and too empty, with one of the pillows remaining squarely by the headboard, untouched and smoothed over. Now, it’s a mess; utter chaos. Annie has her hands in her hair, working out loose knots while leaning back on her pillow—which she’ll probably have to spend upwards of fifteen minutes working back into proper shape when they try to sleep again. The blanket resembles the peaks of high waves on a stormy day where it rests atop her knees, cascading in all sorts of ripples and wrinkles. Both towels she used are still on the floor, damp and in need of good airing so they remain smelling fresh. He tells himself that it does not matter that Annie wasn’t here this morning, or the night before, or the one to precede, but that she’s here now. That she came back and he’ll make sure to hold on to her properly this time around.

2022 was the year of making Annie suffer. 2023 was the year of making Armin suffer

19. Tell me a story about your writing journey. When did you start? Why did you start? Were there bumps along the way? Where are you now and where are you going?

hmmm,,,, lets go with where am i now & where am i going

right now, i have 2 standing unfinished stories (oe and oowu) that i still intend to do my level best to finish, no matter how long it actually takes. i've genuinely never finished a multichapter fic like these; the ones i did for myself usually kind of petered off instead of having an ending i was really satisfied with. even when i finished nano it's not like the stories were done! i just hit 50k. i don't kno why i'm like this, and i want to prove i can do it because im certain i can, i just have to really honestly commit to finishing them

recently (e.g. in the last several months) i've been writing some bits and pieces of things i'd consider spicy. you, ej, are one of the extremely few viewers of.... uh, i'd not even call it smut honestly, but as close as i've ever gotten, and i've felt the desire to really try for it recently? or at least try more. i don't kno i'm ever going to be a really explicit writer, or if i'll ever be brave enough to publish it, but i genuinely want to try. but it's......... So....... AGH. lmao.

the other is that there's an au in my brain that i'm really honestly super enthusiastic about, and the plot is coming together, and i really want to try to actually write it, but it'd be... like. a genuine longfic, i think. with world building. and plot. and again, historically i cannot fucking finish these things. but i really want to try!! i've been noodling at it for like a month and i showed the notes doc to a friend and she got really excited and. it'll probably be so, so long before any of it ever sees the light of day if i ever commit to trying but.... if you all ever see me posting abt pirates akkaye this is why

I'm Back!

Wow, so Lent is over now, so my tumblr fast is also over and I'm still a little in shock, lol. I had hoped the past six weeks? I don't know, Time is weird, would be more productive but at least I got SOME stuff written/posted. Anyway, I have one more month of school and then fucking FINALS so expect sporadic updates at idiot-o-clock hours of the night, and maybe yell at me to sleep, eat, study, or drink water whenever i do post 😅

I am up to SO EFFING MANY wips rn on so many different fronts you guys have no freaking idea 😭 so here's a status report for EVERYTHING on or going on sardonic_sprite. (Its gonna be a monster post, y'all, bear with me)

in absolutely no particular order:

Wayne4Ham: We have a LONG way to go with this one, so just be patient and I'll slowly but steadily plug on through. Aaron Burr, Sir, should theoretically take me no longer than end of april

Wayne-Crazy: there's like 4 specific requests on it, plus a few 'series' i started, but after those, say 6-7, i'll probably mark as complete and only re-open if someone offers me an idea

Batman Beginners: i'll tell y'all up front, this one will take me forever. i don't even know what all I intend to cover, but know that i'm halfway done with the DITF arc, and it'll probably come out in the next two months

Just A Kid: this was my shits-and-giggles fic that got like 3000 notes in a weekend lmao. it's something i do intend to continue bc its so fun and i enjoy the concepts in it, but i don't have plans to actively write more of it in the immediate future.

Rev Wayne: just gave y'all Jason's fic, so the next probably won't come until late in summer, extrapolating from my few data points. if anyone has ideas for timmy's intro, let me know, i'd love some inspiration

Celeb Batwaynes: reported separate from wayne-crazy for reasons. i think theres like 12 specific requests plus 2 ideas of my own. i may put out a poll for the next one to write, but not until after school's out, because these fics are HUGE time-eaters for me. speaking of, are non-tumblr-users able to vote on polls?

aaaaand i THINK that's finally it. there's also a bunch of random paragraphs in word and google docs that may appear, not to mention ideas that kidnap me in dark alleys. but i also have like a good half dozen other wips for other places that im trying to attend to, so please be forgiving if it seems like its taking a while to post something as sprite.

I write in mostly lowercase, save for some names and proper nouns, and when it comes to grammar I probably won't use apostrophes in words that need them (dont, cant, etc)

When I first use the name of a character that's in my piece of writing, I tend to put their name in bold print the first time their name is said,,, especially in the beginning

Basically I just wing it and do whatever I think is right in my head

It helps me a lot better to write on the spot when the idea first pops in my head, because if I actually brainstorm, im going to procrastinate too much and ill write like a sentence, then it won't get done

Which is why I don't take/really hesitant on taking requests on this blog (save for mutuals) because I'll get overwhelmed with having to finish it and it'll never get done

So I just do what I think looks good to me, then i get opinions from two other specific people, and if they like it too, its getting posted

I like to space out my paragraphs and thoughts and stuff, too, or else my eyes will be all over the place trying to read because dyslexia is amazing/sar

I don't do titles. They're too hard to come up with, and most of the time, I'll be starting works with just the fic from the go

I can't do like abstract details, or go too into detail about any scenery or anything, but I can envision scenes in my head by inserting myself into it or having a two way conversation with myself, which i do anyway

Most of my stuff I'll end off with a little a/n under my dividers, too. My grammar is fine, I'd like to think, save for—as mentioned before—words with apostrophes and "i". I also don't really add periods at the end of a paragraph, unless it's drifting off into something "serious" or falls under the "angst" category ??? I cannot explain this omg BUT I do put periods nonetheless! Especially if I have multiple sentences in one paragraph eye eye eye

I'll start with two paragraphs before dividing it under the cut, and at the end I'll put my divider and put a silly little note, because I do NOT put a/ns in the middle of a fic, even if i get the urge to

hello ahhh ty!! short answer is yes i'm still planning to write this rotten work i am actually like...70%? done w the second ch and might try to just finish it up this weekend long answer is. under the cut lol

ok so when i first started trw it was my only other wip and i thought i'd just go straight into writing it after i finished thtf, but then i started writing some other shorter wips as i was writing thtf, and i was like oh maybe i'll finish these first and THEN start focusing on trw. and then after i finished thtf i mainly just wanted to write everything else i had connected to that story in my head, hence aftermath + thtb.

and THEN i was like ok im gonna finish this dorlene beauty + the beast wip bc it'll be shorter and easier and THEN i'll write trw, but i hit a writer's block w that wip like....2 weeks ago and just wasn't really feeling it, and then i watched the walking dead finale and my brain shifted from fairytale mode back into zombie mode so i started writing ch 2 of trw. but THEN this week i sort of uh. well. i succumbed to the cowboy brainrot and now i am. writing a jegulus cowboy au which i am also planning to make like. short-ish? like 4 chs and 20k words is the plan rn.

ANYWAY so now. currently. my plan is:

- try to finish ch 2 of trw this weekend just bc i'm so close to being done, and i'll probably post it before it's been beta-read just bc i feel bad that i’ve left it hanging so long lol

- write the jegulus cowboy au in dec ?? i think i'll probably try and write the whole thing before i start posting chs but who knows

- go back to writing trw as like....longer ongoing project after that and just jump between the beauty + the beast au and trw depending on what mood i'm in

i also have a pandalily time war au haunting me so. if that comes and takes me by the throat trw could end up getting written even slower lol.

anyway! that's where i'm at rn but obviously everything is very subject to change, i've really just been taking writing really slow over november to try and avoid burnout after thtf, so i've just been chipping away at whatever i felt like on any given day. i've been wanting to write more lately tho so i feel like i might be ready to dip my toes back into a longer project, which would be trw :) but it'll probably just be me writing and posting chs slowly without any regular schedule for the next few months as i focus on finishing some of these shorter wips just to like. clear out space in my brain 🤠

yes! currently the plan for when i finish writing noble pining is to try and post a chapter a week! which will take. a very long time lmao bc im currently at 18 chapters with at least a few more to go after the one im writing rn jskfbvkfb but yeah you'll definitely hear about it when i finish and start posting because the plan is to post a chap every week !!

i actually do try to finish wips before posting as a general rule- there are a couple exceptions ive posted as i've written, but more often than not when i post chaps on a wip before ive finished the whole thing i tend not to finish writing or posting it at all, which i don't love bc then i have unfinished wips hanging out on my ao3 </3 having the promise of getting to post my work and getting to share it and get feedback about it is a big motivator for me, so even when i know a wip is gonna be a multichap, i usually wait until the whole thing is done before posting

and especially with noble pining, because it's so long and involved, a large part of my process especially when i'm blocked is to go back and edit and read back through old chapters- updating and changing things that warrant it and getting inspo for later chapters, and i like having the freedom of being able to do that without having to worry about updating already posted chapters!

Is it even going to be called noble pining or are you going to come up with a different title?👀

the plan was always for "noble pining" to be a working title for the fic lmao, it was something i came up with ages ago when i was first talking about the idea with casey and got tired of typing out "the princess adaine guards fabian and gorgug fic" and came up with noble pining as a stopgap working title until i came up with something more formal lmao, and that's still the plan- i'm considering between a couple formal titles right now, but when i eventually do post it ill probably still call it noble pining as well as the actual title i decide on, because i recognize it'll probably be a little confusing to refer to it solely by another name when ive been blogging about it as noble pining for so long (honestly i never expected to get back so much interest and so many asks about noble pining! i always thought of it as my silly little niche passion project, and so to receive so much interest and excitement about it is truly so lovely and heartening to hear!)

hellooo this is my entry for ms olivias ( @bfharry ​ ) boyfriendathon, im not entirely sure that anything happens in this but it is just reuniting w harry on tour fluff!!! i used the promt ‘harry’s number 1 groupie is his gf’ & this is my second full fic so pls be nice to me lol but enjoy!!  also here is my other writing

It didn't take much convincing for Harry to get you to join him on tour, actually all it’d taken was him to call you after one of his first shows on the North American leg telling you how much he missed you, and how lonely his hotel rooms felt and a couple of days later Jeff was forwarding you the plane tickets and info to meet them in Sacramento for a week of the tour.

It wasn't strange for you to visit harry on tour, but you both normally lasted a few more weeks before you caved and took the week off to go visit him, but a particularly needy harry and late night phone call with him listing all the ways he missed you, even after just a week and a half of being a part was all it took for you to take the 14 hour flight from London. 

You were antsy to see him from the minute that you got in the car at the airport, but it was only increasing as you were walking with a security guard through the corridors of the arena. The security guard points you in the direction of Harry's dressing room as you turn the last corner. You could hear Harry's playlist playing quietly behind the door as you approached and knocked. ‘Jeffrey, said i just need ten minutes and i'd be there’ he shouted through the door ‘try again’ you laughed ‘not Jeffrey’ 

The door quickly flung open as soon as he heard your voice, immediately wrapping you in his arms, resting his chin on top of your head, and you both stayed like that for a minute before he started to squeeze you a bit too tightly. ‘Getting a bit hard to breathe here H’. ‘sorry love’ he loosened his arms a little around you, allowing him to look at you for a second before completely freeing you from his grasp, you looked tired from the long flight from London and your hair was a little wild because you hadn't had the chance to brush it in the rush from the airport to the venue he place a quick kiss on your forehead before letting you go to follow him into the dressing room to get settled.

There was probably an hour before the preparations for the show tonight really started, meaning Lambert would come with the rack of all of Harry's outfits and steal him away from you for him to get dressed and prep to perform but for now you were more than content with the position you were in. Harry had come back from soundcheck earlier and immediately lay on top of you wrapping his arms around your waist and his face pressed into your neck, while your hands were stroking through his brown curls while he sighed contentedly every so often. 

You two stayed like that for the time being until people started to filter in the dressing room and asking for Harry’s attention to put the final details on the show and his outfit for tonight. You gave his hand a squeeze getting his attention to tell him you were going to find Mitch, Sarah and Adam and leave him to get ready for the show.

The next time you saw Harry was as people were gathering to send him off onto the stage, you could hear the crowd cheering as the venue lights dimmed. ‘Come ‘ere quick’ he said as he pulled you by your hand into his chest ‘Need m’ good luck kiss’ he had the biggest cheesy grin on his face, you couldn't help but indulge him and match his smile. You bring your hand to cup his jaw, giving him a sweet kiss, but quickly pulling away, because you knew Harry and knew how he'd turn your good luck kisses into ‘make out in the venue hallway’ kisses, and you’d had enough teasing from Jeff about that over the years you’d been together.

You’d made your way back to the dressing room ‘Ew! H you’re all sweaty’ you laughed as his arms tightened around your waist, clearly not listening to your complaints. ‘Missed this though didn’t y’.’ His voice is murmured in your hair with his arms still wrapped around your waist, but loosening so you could walk back for him to pack up and go back to your hotel, he’d said earlier that he wanted ‘his girl all to himself’ on your first night which you couldn't really argue with, being exhausted from the flight.

You were waiting on the plush hotel bed scrolling through your phone, checking social media while you’re waiting for Harry to get out of the shower, he was bound to be exhausted once his post show adrenaline wore off and he said he just wanted to take a quick shower to get clean, but now you were almost certain he’d fallen a sleep under the water.

The shower water turning off is what pulls your attention away from your phone, as you were in the middle of texting back your best friend who was checking that you got there safely. After a moment harry comes out of the bathroom, he was tying the belt of one of the hotel robes as he makes his way over and flops himself on the bed next to you, motioning for you to move over so you were both lying on his side of the bed, your head on his shoulder, and moving the few pieces of wet hair he missed in his hair clip off of his face. 

‘M tired, glad we didn't go out now would have been asleep in the middle of some bar by now’ he murmured into your hair ‘Yeah, better off here’ you agreed, moving so that your leg was thrown over his hip and arm across his middle. 

After a while of laying with each other he started to get restless, still some pent up adrenaline from the show, so you suggest doing the sheet masks you picked up in the airport earlier.  

‘Y’sure your not tired? can do all of this tomorrow?.’ His arms tightened around your waist where you were sat on the bathroom counter putting the facemask on Harry's face. He scrunched up his face as you smoothed out the cold material on his face ‘M’fine just wanna spend some time with you.’ 

A little while after you had finished your facemasks Harry had decided he was hungry, finally crashing from his post show adrenaline and wanting to devour a bowl of fries from room service there was a knock on the door as you reached to put on the next episode of the show that you guys were watching. 

‘it'll be food, I'll get it’ Harry mumbled as he pushed himself up off of the bed to get the door, grabbing his wallet on the way to tip the waiter. He returned a minute later with the tray of food you ordered, setting it down on the bed. 

‘Missed you y’know’ harry starts as you put another chip in your mouth

‘Missed you two H, was only two and a half weeks though’ Harry scoffs ‘What not allowed to miss m’ own girlfriend now?’ You were already laughing as he finished, picking up  a chip to throw at him across the bed. ‘Course not, like knowing you miss me’ you smile at him ‘always love.’ 

After finishing your food Harry’d moved you both back to lay in the bed with his head resting on your chest, his eyes fluttering shut every so often, he was clearly trying to stay awake. ‘S’alright H go to sleep, will still be here tomorrow, got me all week’ you told him, lips pressing a kiss to his hairline as you reached to turn off the TV so you both could get some needed sleep.

‘Y’promise?’

‘Promise.’
