fluttercord fanfic snippet :)

some context:

so, i’ve started re-writing bride of discord. arguably the most popular fluttercord fanfiction to date, written by DisneyFanatic2364. i grew up anticipating each episode of the audio drama; i loved it. however, rewatching it (as i’ve done multiple times to torture myself) has made me realize it has not aged well at all. discord’s characterization, the lack of actual chemistry between him and fluttershy and the constant weight of their circumstances, applespike, among other things range from uncomfortable to problematic. because of this, i’ve wanted to take the plot and mold it into something that fixes those issues as well as divulge more into the characters and their feelings.

i haven’t actually read the fanfic (before i continue this i want to read through it one time, to be fair), i’ve only consumed the audio drama, but considering how poorly the characters (most notably discord) are written in the audio drama i can’t image there is much more i’m missing. no hate necessarily, DF just isn’t, or wasn’t, the most skilled writer in my opinion. as a warning, i’m no author either, but i find joy in writing from time to time and i do think i have something of substance.

in my re-write, i have fluttershy taking interest in discord in his hiding period. i think it makes it more interesting that her fear subsides and is replaced by a want to learn about him and where he came from. it gives her a personal incentive to accept his deal without her feeling like she has to because she has no other choice. she doesn’t really want to marry him, but she isn’t being tormented by him after his disappearance nor is she completely miserable in her stay at his estate.

speaking of the deal, when asking for a bride, discord doesn’t really intend to take the marriage seriously. i’m still considering if i want him to ask for this out of hopes one of the elements will come forward, or if he just narrow its down, saying that one of the elements has to “give themselves up”. either way he hopes to ensure or IS ensuring the keeping of their word when they say they won’t use the elements against him. there isn’t a wedding or anything of that nature, that’s too boring. the proposal is them being married and then fluttershy is just someone living in his house that he has to feed sometimes. i want her to still have contact with her friends in some way. discord doesn’t want any conspiring, so either letters or a ‘one person at a time’ visitor rule.

just two of the changes i’m making still working it out but that’s some of my base ideas . if yall have any suggestions i’d love to hear them as im open to critiques or any other ideas, tho there is no guarantee ill adapt to them.

The Chaos dimension had made a great home for Discord the last year. It had everything he could possibly need, save anyone to torment. That wouldn’t be an issue soon, however. The Lord of Chaos had been lying low in his little window outside of reality, waiting for the right time to reintroduce himself. he was growing bored of waiting. Discord admired himself in his living room mirror. It was upside down and attached to the wall at an angle, leaving it crooked and ineffective as a floor-length mirror. He was looking at his upside down reflection when it started betraying his movements.

“Can you *please* find something else to do when you’re thinking,” his reflection crossed it’s arms over it’s chest and outstretches its neck, pushing it through the glass threshold effortlessly, “I’m starting to think you’re obsessed with me.”

Discord rolled his eyes as his reflection-Who he deemed ‘Secondcord’- pulled itself from the mirror completely. “Well you know me, I have an affinity for the chaotic and strange,” he teased his doppelgänger with an un-serious smirk on his face, stepping out of it’s way as it glided to the floor. “Speaking of chaos, I believe my time to shine is closely approaching.” Discord stepped closer to himself, bringing his eagle claw to tap Secondcord’s nose.

“The Gala?” It swatted his hand away, “how clever to pop up on them while their energy is focused elsewhere. That is, until you consider they still bare their elements and you can’t do anything about it.”

“Oh please, I evaded them before-”

“Narrowly. You evaded them narrowly.”

“So I know what to look for! Flashing lights, a big rainbow. That’s not hard to miss. Besides, the plan I’ve been concocting should save me from having to worry about the elements at all!” He falls back and motions his paw, a lawn chair appearing to break his fall. With a snap, a wine glass rests in his palm. Secondcord watched unamused as he took a sip.

“Oh, a plan to deactivate the elements? Do tell! Seeing as your magic is *completely* ineffective in removing them from their bearers I’d love to know how you plan to do so. I sure do hope that whatever that hamster brain of yours is thinking is more permanent than reversing their personalities.” It picked at it’s talon claws, pretending to find them interesting, “Perhaps you’ll encase *them* in stone? Or maybe turn them into wooden puppets, unable to make their own decisions. Oh, I know! You’ll turn the six lapdogs into beautiful paintings and hang them above your mantel. How cruel, to make them watch you have all the fun from above your ‘waterplace’.” He looked to the aforementioned ‘waterplace’, wiggling his fingers. Red water spouted from wooden logs like a backwards waterfall, up into a never-ending chimney.

“Well if you’d stop listening to the sound of your own voice, I’ll tell you.” Discord’s eyes are closed as he takes another sip, then hums. “Although, I do like the sound of that last idea. Maybe I’ll store it away for Lady Loyalty.” He sat like he was a woman suntanning at the beach trying to seduce the person of her affections, “Or maybe for you? it would certainly save me from your sarcastic remarks.” As he takes a third sip of his wine, it’s apparent that the amount of liquid in the glass is unchanged.

“The plan,” Secondcord barked, sick of Discord’s tendency to dance around every single thing he was trying to say.

“Oh you buzzkill, I can never poke fun with you. *Fine*. I’ll strike a deal or two with them.” Secondcord furrowed his brow and lifted his head at his counterparts words, egging him to go on. “I can’t touch their elements, no, but i *can* make it to where they can’t use them. I’ve taken Twilight’s horn before and I can take it again, this time I’ll only give it back if they promise to not use the elements in return.” He lifted himself from the lawn chair, both it and his drink disappearing in a puff of smoke. He began to pace, miscellaneous sounds coming with each of his footsteps. “I have a few other cards up my sleeve, but that’s to be played out.”

Secondcord tilted his head and feigned disinterest, but his amused smile was apparent. “Well, I suppose it’s a step up from you last attempt, I’ll give you that.”

YEAH so in my fic fifth years are 16, and by the time things get....explicit....clora and seb are 17. im not against consuming media with teenagers depicted in sexual situations like euphoria or riverdale or w.e else bc i get that its fiction and these are just real things that happen so its fine to write about them, but their canonical ages of 15 was still too young for me and i wanted them to be 17 before it got the E rating (which is why clora and sebs birthdays end up being so close, bc i was RUSHING for them to turn 17 BAHAHHAA)

• when I started shipping it if I did: good question uhhh I think it was about a year ago?

• my thoughts: GODDDD im so insane about them, i just love how inevitable they feel most of all. like. esp in the context of canon (I don’t think abt them in aus much ngl), sirius going to azkaban when he was so young, coming out older outside but emotionally stunted, yk? still a kid who never really got to grow up, esp if you take into account the trauma of growing up in an abusive household, getting into a war so young…. which yeah, we’re all thinking abt harry rn. the parallels of these two are insane they drive me nuts. then ofc the found family trope hits so hard bc, they both need a family so bad, someone who understands them, but not someone who will treat them like they’re fragile yk? i will never not think about how everyone was treating harry like a kid, and sirius like a freak, in canon. sirius standing up to harry who deserved to have all the info to fight during a war that painted a fucking target on his back but everyone shutting sirius down UGH. I just think no one understands each other as well as sirius and harry. I love them platonically too so so much. but in a romantic context it’s so different and smmm fun bc sirius will do ANYTHING for harry, that’s his baby, like; that’s the kid he swore to protect, that’s his dead best friend/savior’s child, but that’s also his savior—post azkaban, and it’s also a person on their own (which btw, sassy harry fits SO well w sirius lmao), it’s not a replacement for james or lily. sirius will stop at nothing to give harry what he needs…. but also what he wants, and that’s where it gets SO juicy, bc harry wants him but Sirius has to fight his guilt, his fraying morals (which, it’s canon that sirius is a morally grey character so it’s so fun to play w that), and maybe even, the thought that he’s dangerous, bc I hc the blacks as having a very intense, almost violent type of love. and I could see sirius being scared of that, of loving harry too hard, or too wrong. but harry is just. so lost. so starved for love. and he loves sirius sm, sirius is his whole damn world and the only thing that makes sense, that makes him feel safe in this fucked up world that’s always been so cold to him, and he doesn’t enjoy seeing sirius fight himself, carry the guilt on his own, but he so desperately doesn’t want to be alone in this either, and SIRIUS WONT LET HIM feel alone in this bc harry already carries too much on his shoulders and ughfjffkdndkfnskxbm basically they need to fuck but it’s hard to get them there, but once they do, it’s better than an anything else, it’s HEALING.

• What makes me happy about them: I think mostly that they’re each other’s person. like. they just get each other. also just. the sheer joy and relief they have of being in each others presence.

• What makes me sad about them: THE TRAGEDY OF FORBIDDEN LOVE, OF THE WAR, OF THEIR TRAUMA UGHHH also the miscommunication trope sometimes, esp if there’s past prongsfoot that makes harry feel like a replacement for his dad, or their trauma getting in the way

• things done in fanfic that annoys me: I love them, next question

• things I look for in fanfic: mhm the tension +++, the moral debate of it all, and their banter omg I eat it up everyyyy timeeee harry is SUCH a brat but sirius is also a comedic king AND a hot one at that and he’s so good at shutting harry up even tho it truly is harry who has sirius wrapped around his finger. i also love when the power imbalance / the age gap is explored bc… like it feels like the elephant in the room otherwise lmao. and it can be so fun esp during sex!

• Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: I can ship both of them with literally almost anyoneeeee, like I love these two characters so so much that. I love all ships w them? I think I just tend to gravitate wayyy less towards sirius/hermione bc I just… really don’t see it and in my head, even sirius is kinda scrunching up his nose at the thought xD but honestly, that’s literally just me!! cheering sirmione shippers on!! have fun!!!!

Unpopular Marauders opinions

i'm bored so here are some opinions that i'm too scared to say on any other platform

Deciding that Pandora Lovegood had to be from a death eater family (Rosier, Malfoy, Lestrange) was the worst thing this fandom ever did to her character

The fannon characterisation of Marlene McKinnon gives me massive self inset pick me vibes and i hate every part of it (and i really mean every part of it)

This fandom isn't misogynistic y'all are just too demanding and expect the fandom to be the exact same as any other where we have a hardcore cannon source for every one of these characters and ships. we do not. we know more about Barty Crouch Jr then we do about Marlene McKinnon, Mary MacDonald and Dorcas Meadowes combined. it's unrealistic and stupid to expect everyone to care about the same characters and ships to the same capacity as you do when we are not watching/reading the same thing. (if any of that makes sense)

Barty Crouch Jr, Evan Rosier and pretty much every single other death eater were villains. it's okay to like them and want to expand on them but stop trying to make every bad guy secretly good

We cannot keep blaming Dumbledore for everything. Dumbledore had nothing to do with half of the deaths that you are accusing him of. blaming Dumbledore and headcannoning that he obliviated Mary and turned Regulus away and all that takes away from everyone else's characters, sacrifice and choices

The Marauders weren't child soldiers. They had a choice on if they wanted to join the Order or not and they chose to because they're Gryffindors and they're The Marauders and probably thought of themselves as some invisible hero's. They don't need to be seen as victims to Dumbledore for them to be tragic

Im a sucker for hard cover books and I just had the idea that it would be awesome if you had your own. Especially if all the art work that's been made for The Echo Garden was at the end of the book like how the do for The Art of Transformers One or The Art of Transformers Fall of Cybertron ect...

I would be extremely into making hard copies of TEG if it weren't illegal to do so. to be more specific- it's kiiiiiind of a gray area if I were to bind my own fic. it's definitely illegal if I were to bind my own fic and then sell it. it's kiiiiiind of a gray area if you were to bind my fic and keep it for yourself, or gift it to a friend. it's definitely illegal if you were to bind my fic and then sell it (and I would be very mad at you). and it's definitely illegal for you or me or anyone else to get my fic printed through a print-on-demand company, or someone selling fanfics on etsy, or anything else like that

the reason you can buy books from Hasbro about TF1 or the video games is because Hasbro owns the rights to the characters and they can do whatever they want with them

I don't own the rights to the characters, but I do own the rights to my work. kind of. fanfic is a legal gray area and the reason it continues to exist is because we don't make money off of it. AO3 is very clear about this, and it's part of what makes the website strong and free and able to exist

I've heard that fan art technically exists in this exact same legal gray area, but big companies are much more lenient about it for a bunch of historical reasons. someone who makes fan art can even use it in a portfolio and even get hired by a comic company- it happened to a lot of IDW1 fan artists, they got hired for IDW2

but fanfic writers cannot (to my knowledge) use fic in their portfolios. you ESPECIALLY cannot use fic of an IP in your portfolio to apply to that IP (editors WILL NOT read fanfic). there's lots of legal reasons for this, most of which I only understand at a very surface level

at this time, TEG is the most popular TF fic, at least on AO3. it would be extremely noticeable if printed copies popped up- and that would make me very angry. I am not willing to be mired in any kind of legal action or dispute or distribution of my work. I do not give permission for it to be printed, unless it's in the very specific instance of someone printing the fic on their own printer and binding the fic for themself or for a friend

so yeah!! if I could buy a license from Hasbro and legally get hard covers made, I heckin' would. but I cannot do that and I'm not willing to stick my neck out and possibly get fanfic thrown into court, where companies would then HAVE to set legal precedents about it, which might axe it, if not for good, in a very severe way

thanks for the thought tho! I do think that fanfic will eventually have some kind of license precedent in law (assuming the tech bros don't monetize it via AI and then lobby for law changes that allow only their AI to do it, or something equally vile and terrible): the 'vulgar arts' have a way of ascending into capitalism eventually

ummm so yea im embarrassed to say that i bought the ENTIRE series on kindle as well as the spinoff bc like fuckk i became too engrossed with the characters, the relationships, and their world i fear, a couple years back, and i was lapping up every single morsel of interaction btw them when the author would write them in in other books in the franchise. ever heard of how to lose a guy in 10 days?? wellll this first book in the series is basically exactly like that movie but with the roles reversed, with the guy trying to shake the girl off and the girl desperately clinging onto the relationship bc of/for an article. just with.... smut ADFDJHGHJK (i remember literally trying to search for fanfiction for the franchise bc like how can there not adafhjk. and another thing ab the smut!! it's like... actually really well written?? very emotional and not super duper explicit while still being hot, iirc, at least compared to some of the other stuff that ive read sdfshjk. like there's actually feelings involved separately and bc of the boombayah yknow? i actually wish some of the smut that i come across in fanfic sometimes can incorporate that soft/romantic/angsty aspect too haha)

I’m really hoping sjm treats his mentality well because I think it would also be a good chance not just to address mental health and self esteem issues on their own but also men’s mental health? Chaol’s arc in ToG (ToD) is probably one of my favourite because it felt so genuine to me, so I hope Az gets one like his, or Feyre’s, or Nesta’s 🧡💛

Okay, so my thoughts on this—if I’m honest, I think I’m familiar for the most part with how cbmthy is going to conclude? There are still many things I need to fine-tune since there’s a large chunk of story still to tell, but for the most part the different paths I’ve taken up to this point I’ve chosen due to my own writing capabilities (or what I think they are)? Like you said, I think this would be great for a one shot, and it was a path I’d actually considered to some extent, but personally I don’t think I’d be able to successfully write reader recovering if a mating bond snapped before Azriel got a chance to tell her about his feelings which is why that won’t be happening in the main story :)

That being said, I would like to explore those sides of things on a smaller, more controlled level? For example instead of it being a mating bond, now that reader’s magic has come out so obviously I think that’s something reader will struggle with, plus one other subplot that’ll finally come to light at the end of Ch. 15 which reader might speculate is affecting how Az acts around her in future parts!

Either way I’m looking forward to when the next part is finally complete since it’s taking me ages 😭🧡💛 I’m also excited to see how you’ll react to it and what you’ll make of different character’s choices!

Memory lane on how I come up with the fanfic stories : Marble Hornets x Creepypasta , Immortal Universe/Limbo in Immortality

Marble Hornets spoiler below.

I have made this idea ever since I have interacted with Marble Hornets and Creepypasta through Deviantart. My poor highschool mind...

I originally write this out of spite for what Creepypasta fandom has done toward Marble Hornets character and butchering their characters and story, diminishing them to just their masked form and made what's behind the mask inconsistent despite Marble Hornets was not a Creepypasta OC but an Analog horror played with actors. So I write this story while using Hoodie and Masky actor faces and personality (with a few we see for Brian/Hoodie) instead of the popular interpretation.

I was also at first tried to write Ticci Toby similarly to what the original author written him, cause he was mad with how people written him as peppy and cheery guy. Emphasis on "tried" though. I also fail miserably in the end.

In this fanfiction, Toby was the main character and the story plot was basically figuring out the mystery of Brian. Because this is Marble Hornets x Creepypasta, they all lived in Slenderman mansion. And all the location in Marble Hornets also here.

I barely write the story when I eventually abandoned it because I was overthinking it too much (per usual)

But me leaving this story for several years was not a bad thing cause I eventually see I was writing it for all the wrong reason. Sure I was writing it for me, but I also see how much I limited myself (or maybe overexert myself) just so I could follow the guideline when there is no guideline to begin with. Jeff The Killer backstory was not written by the original author and yet at one point it has become my bible when creating him. Same goes with Eyeless Jack where his backstory was also written by someone else.

Everything I thought about how Brian act and think during his masked era was just that, headcanon. In the end I can never prove it my idea was correct because we will never truly see things from Brian's pov, because my headcanon for Brian in his masked era was an intense paranoia combined with hallucinations where he can't separate reality from his mind

And also I write the story out of anger and pettiness. And I don't like the idea of writing a story just to make me think I was better than other writers or I was the right one, they didn't even try to be accurate.

So I done a complete overhaul to the story, although it's a slow process.

First, I still use Ticci Toby for the MC in this second iteration. But because I realized his personality is super ooc and the author didn't want people to use his character anymore, I gave this character many changes. First, I named him Tobiel Castor. Kastoway => Castor. This is my way of showing that despite I didn't use their character anymore, his story resonated strongly with me and I wanted to show my appreciation to him.

I haven't fully decided on the plot for this second iteration, but I remember wanting to make him and Tim to be rivals, just like in Creepypasta version. In the final iteration, it still happened, but they eventually became best friend.

I do not exactly remember what happened next in my brain, but I then decided Tim will be the main character in act 1 and Tobiel will become MC in act 2 of the story. It's because im second iteration, Tobiel would be told to hate Tim because he refused to follow the rules. But why tho? If I added Tim's story in act one, I don't have to think hard on how ro introduce this part in Tobiel's story!

..... In hindsight, I probably can explain it slowly in Tobiel's pov, but I have and habit of tell than show, so I dunno. It's a predicament. But either say, back to the past.

I currently can't remember what made me come up with this premise, but eventually I decided that "forced immortality" will be the part of the main plot. I think it's because some Marble Hornets scenes where the bodies in the sub dimension/The Operator dimension looks extremely fresh.

Or maybe just because ever since I was a child, I was always into writing story about immortals and semi immortals people ever since I watched Digimon and making Devilmon into the semi immortal species. Short lore about them, in my AU/headcanon, Devilmon was originally human before a gooey thing like Venom latches onto them and turn them into Devilmon. Too much of it, you'll lose all of your humanity and turn into feral monster. A bit and resist the gooey influence, and you'll become Devilmon. Other than looking similar to one another, they will also forget their human name, but better evoking than one part of their humanity rather than their entire memories.

Short lore over. But dang, that's one of my favourite fanfic I have written even as a elementary student.

I'll explain Tim's Act in different Post. Not just because this is already long, but also because Tim's act was when I started to really figuring out how the Immortality system works in this fanfic.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

Apparently I have 20? That's news to me lol. I would have guessed like 10 to 12. I've used this AO3 account for a while, I guess.

2. What's your total AO3 word count?

62,119 words, according to the statistics.

Currently, only Baldur's Gate 3. Before that I was writing lightcanon for League of Legends.

Damn. Some of these are callbacks.. Not too surprised, though. These either have popular ships or popular fandoms. LoL lightcanon in 1, 3, and 4 make sense to me, even if I'm embarrassed by the writing in them. Continually shocked by To Muzzle a Gith. I guess Shadowzel is that popular? I don't know. I have so little desire to write for them again and the writing in it makes me cringe, tbh. Same with #5 LMAO. You couldn't pay me enough to reread the fics I wrote in highschool.

5. Do you respond to comments?

Yes, always! Well. If someone comments on something really old I might not? But only because im scared they'll ask me to update it lmao. But in general, yes! I love talking and hearing what people liked!

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

If I'm including the 20 QOTD Challenge fic (and i am because this is my post), I'd have to give it to Nerves, ch19 of that challenge. I mean, its a flashback scene about killing a childhood friend (and maybe lover) for a crumb of an uncaring goddess' attention.

It's pretty much the only piece of angst I've written that doesn't have some overtone of hope to it. I'm hoping to work it into my act 1 rewrite because I like it so much.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

To me, its Savoring Seconds from the challenge. It's bittersweet but after everything those two have been through... It's the happiest I can envision them ever being. Maybe that's just my bias tho :P

8. Do you get hate on fics?

No? Do most people get hate on fics? I haven't had anything of the sort. Hard to imagine what that would even be like..

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Yes, I do. Outside of To Muzzle a Gith, I think I write pretty tame stuff? More emotional than anything.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

A Common Song was really the only crossover, but even then.. it was really just a League of Legends fic with a cyberpunk2077 au. It had some good ideas tho.. maybe I'll return to it some day.

Nope!

Not really. I've helped with brainstorming before but that's really all.

This.. is tough. I change fandoms too often for something like this 😭 If I had to pick a bg3 ship... Laz/Karlach. Is it cheating to say my OC ship? Probably. But fuck you, its MY post. I've cried multiple times on the bus just thinking about these two, no one else had quite the strangle hold on me. (I was thinking abt Karlach's funeral btw).

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

A Common Song. I was cooking on some of those ideas but I was FAR too ambitious lmao

16. What are your writing strengths?

I'm... Not totally sure, to be honest. Its hard to read your own stuff and see what's uniquely strong. If you have any thoughts, please let me know!

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I don't think my writing has much rhythm to it. I'd like to work on that. Also my grammar is shoddy at best. English classes were always my lowest grades :,)

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

For fantasy languages I think it's fun! It can add a lot of depth and creates a lot of insight to a characters culture. Dabbling with Drowic for example was a lot of fun.

But like, a real language? Naw. I don't know any other languages so unless it was a phrase I knew a character said in canon.. I wouldn't want to risk a shoddy google translate.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Uh. It was either Invader Zim, Mass Effect, or SAO? I'm not totally sure. This would have predated AO3, when I was in middle school or something. I've tried to find those fics but I think they're genuinely lost.

Probably for the best lol.

20. Favorite fic you've written?

Currently, it is Snowfall. Once I post it, I think it'll be the act 1 rewrite.

i’m usually imagining what i write in my brain im thinking on how to make my writing enjoyable to read, like correct grammar and correct punctuation

when i write smut i don’t really try to use like… fancy words… yk? my vocabulary isn’t that big so i use words that are lewd and inappropriate cuz i like writing smut like that😭

i also just think of what i’d like to read if i was reading someone else’s fanfic. i like to do ideas or write a character in a way no one else has done yet if that makes sense .

most of my smuts don’t have plots— that’s why it was so difficult for me to make THREE parts of perv! regulus bc at that point i’d have to create a plot

since ur new to writing start with small drabbles and small scenarios and write stuff that pleases you. write stuff that you want to read bc in my opinion , writing something that i wouldn’t even read myself is boring and it makes it harder to finish actually writing

i’m a very “self insert” type of girl. i like to imagine myself as the reader. the character i’m writing smut for— the dialogue that they speak is something i’d want to hear as well if that makes sense

hello again, i'm the anon from the waifu/blorbo thing just checking in. it was quite surprising to see the ask i made when i was feeling sorta petty would spiral in all that lol

to answer why i stay anon, its because I'm just a "filthy lurker" tbh. im not really sociable or talented enough that i feel like interecting directly in the fandom, and i'd rather avoid the headaches that come from exposing myself to its more annoying parts lol. i understand its different for artists tho, you guys do us a great service

Thank YOU for being based, the moment I read what you said I knew EXACTLY what you were talking about! And yes, it is a reliably stable way to piss that person off enough to 'act' by poking the holy dogma of "Maria is a masculine lesbian and everyone with a different interpretation is a bigot" with a stick in any way shape or form. Imagine being easily caught just because you can't stand bisexuals or women that can combine badassery and tenderness?

I'll have you know though, that fanart or fanfics are NOT a "rent" you have to pay to be considered a "valid" part of the fandom! You say you don't feel like you belong here... but you do, as long as you love BB and want to interact with other fans and support them. I am not the most fantastic artist either; my anatomy is still a long way to go and I finish my works very slowly, but it is my passion why I am here! :)

As for the annoying parts of the fandom,...

Honestly, you don't need to worry, at least not on Tumblr. Redditbros tend to stay away in their own circles and all you have to do is to not go on Reddit for sharing things like headcanons, drawings, ships etc. As for the bullies (oh, pardon, the completely civil people that are not encouraging harassment but simply spread "awareness" in order to excile people they dislike from the safe wholesome fandom uwu); they will typically do you a favour if they drop your name as "yiiiikes this person is nasty for [reason] block them girlies!", since this way the fake ones will self-isolate from you as a result and YOU won't see THEIR bad takes! And toxic Maria fans usually function by one 'main' guy vs their simps that got easily influenced. Before the current guy (you know who by now) it was someone else spreading bad takes about "misogynist" Gehrman and "violated masculinity" of Maria, boasting about how they ignore all lore and (mis)translation evidence against their One True interpretation. That person matured though, and the simps they influenced dissolved and became nuanced. The current guy is chronically unable to mature, learn and admit mistakes; but at the same time, popular accounts popularised a "compromise" take that portrays Gehrman as missing the mark but having good intentions that get way more traction and toxicity is overshadowed by them 🤔

What I am saying is, you can avoid annoying parts reliably easily! You probably are seeing like same two people starting controversy every time from your "corner"... and it is BECAUSE there are not that many. They are just loud. If you are in the room with 20 people, 19 of which are adults minding their own business and 1 is a screaming baby, who will you pay more attention to?
