the thing about the tmi incest plot is that some people act like it was portrayed in a positive light, but it really wasn't?? both clary and jace new how fucked up it was, as well as the people around them.

i don;t remember who wrote it, but i saw a post on here one time that said something along the lines of that valentine telling clary and jace that they're siblings was an extreme form of parental abuse. and don't see enough people talking about it in that light.

(on a more lighthearted note: as someone who read tid before tmi, the incest plot didn't really bother me since i already knew who jace's real parents were by reading the found family tree 🤭)

yes exactly!! jace and clary knew, because they experienced (somewhat) loving families!! that’s why it caused them sm pain!! but sebastian didn’t understand/though it was okay, because he never experienced that!! AND VALENTINE KNEW!!! he knew how it would affect them!! he did what he did knowing it would hurt clary and jace and obsess sebastian!

CLACE god i can’t believe so many people ship this. i cant believe it was allowed. same with sizzy honestly. also jalec and all the other generally cursed ships but i feel like people go hard on clace and sizzy as otps in this fandom bc theyre canon and god. stop that

5. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?

not really, but to be fair i just sit in my tiny corner of this fandom and do whatever i want. maybe saphael, bc like i get the concept but istg every saphael fan makes raphael hella ooc and they always ignore that hes ace and i, for one, am TIRED

6. Has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?

hmmmmmm. i definitely rly used to dislike cat/ragnor and ive warmed up to a lillllll more recently. Also clizzy, but only bc i disliked clary in the series pretty significantly when i first watched it but fandom has made me like her a bit more.

JACE god i dont even wanna go into this but hes just a shit character and a worse person and i just dont understand why the fandom wants to fucking idolize him. he treats everyone around him like SHIT and he just truly has no redeeming qualities. That’s probably the main controversial one I also hate lorenzo because god HE DIDNT REDEEM HIMSELF EVERYTHING HE DID TO HELP MAGNUS WAS FOR HIM! being mean to magnus is unforgivable. and then also the classic ones like asmodeus and camille and sebastian/jonathan and valentine if any of these are controversial to u pls reevalute ur choices (not saying u cant enjoy villians as like fun characters but i do see yall bitches out there wanting to redeem sebastian and ship him with people. yall quit that shit).

u didnt give me a character so.....im gonna make the choice.........hit yall with an unpopular alec opinon- alec is noT that progressive. ya’ll love to ignore the shit he said about vampires and the way he talks to simon and treats him as subhuman. like yeah its fun to characterize alec and simon as having like, fun banter but the way he talks about simon (specifically relating to him being a vampire) is blatantly racist and played as funny. him having a downworld council is cool and whatever but its barely anything and if he still acts Like That it doenst matter alexa send tweet. 

14. Unpopular opinion about your fandom?

None of y’all understand that you have to think critically about the content u consume/produce. not all pairings/dynamics are harmless and just bc its fiction doesnt mean that u get a free pass to not think. u can talk all u like about how fiction is fiction and yall can say im part of the purity squad or whatever but producing content featuring pedophilia, incest, and abuse and romanticizing those types of relationships hurts everyone involved. also just cause u have the freedom to say whatever u want on the internet with minimal criticism doesnt mean that u are immune to criticism or that u dont deserve it and this goes doubly for the big names in this fandom.

16. If you could change anything in the show, what would you change?

God so many things. Main one is probably that id give the downworlders more complete storylines and screentime (specifically magnus, catarina, ragnor, maia, and raphael but also luke and meliorn and everyone else). also actually decently addressing the racism and all the issues with the clave. would have liked to see the gang take down the entire clave bc its corrupt and horrible.

I wasn't able to watch tonight but I'm dying to know how the club scene and what little we got of Team Evil went? I saw tons of comments saying it's gross and boring.

idk who you saw that from but i was honestly freaking out the whole time? but ive also been waiting 4 whole-ass years so it really could have just been anything and i would have freaked out

honestly it was fun especially towards the beginning, like a HIGHLY abbreviated COLS (jace references the boat scene but oddly not the rape joke he makes in the books….hmm!) but ngl the club scene spiraled out of control VERY fast and was honestly such goddamn good hilarious fucking cinema….THERE ARE SEELIE DRUGS. honestly i really wanted that for some perverse reason because this is a really dumb show and that is by far the dumbest thing in the books and im just. really glad they kept it in (even if was shot nightmarishly badly) and then clary dumping jace out on his ass for being obvious as hell was sure funny….idk im not sure they know what they’re doing at ALL with jonathan, at points he actually reminded me of ricky except with less personality (say what you want about ricky but he has a lot of personality) also there wasn’t even weston cage OR a scene where jonathan stands on a roof and declares how he won’t be a slave to society in a leather trenchcoat so 0 STARS FROM ME just kidding that movie was not the best but anyway ummi felt they tried to be really careful not to alienate clace viewers which i appreciate bc honestly clace has gotten pummeled recently but it also could have been…more?? like it would have been v fun no problems if there were more scenes but as our One Team Evil it….it was good? fun? silly? stupid? enjoyable? but not really….what made me fall in love with COLS?

honestly i think for me the hilight was jace being a whole big dumbass also jonathan being a PETTY BITCHY BITCH oh my god gaksdfhghg i honestly live for those moments like his jilted little “clary pls love me” just. light me up.

i think overall i just wish for more sebjace moments–they barely interact and while i try not to be a dumb hoe sebjace is really the reason im here so like. i could have loved more than getting crossfaded and jonathan throwing a shirt at jace but?? idk i feel it still gave me lots to run off of but nothing like 2b like they clearly forgot about the “opposite ends of the same experiment” as soon as Shiny Incest was in view (no offense lol but this show DOES have a thing for it) and jonathan was no longer a buxom blonde. so like. am i a little annoyed? yes. for the reason everyone else is? yes. was i really glad this wasn’t discourse when i opened my inbox? yes. is that gonna stop me from being gross on main the literal one (1) time i’ll ever get to do? nope!!

anyway lol sorry for the wall of text but that’s the dl i hope you enjoy it lots when you see it!!!!!!!! but honestly don’t fear it’s a wild ride and more than i expected tbh
