Where is the line when it comes to calling out how people draw black characters? Im genuinely asking. Just did some digging in the elphaba tag. 28/35 of the top art did a great job of depicting her microbraids. Of those 7 that did a bad job, all but 2 of them put in effort to draw microbraids, its just that some of those artists arent very good. So… theyre practicing. Additionally, there were 2 pieces of art (in addition to that 35) that were clearly depicting the musical and book art (obvious fans for years, from before cynthia was cast and the movie). So… wheres the line? Do we call out just those 2 who didnt put in a real effort to draw her microbraids? Do we call out all 7 who didnt draw them well? Do we message them privately, even though we really dont know them at all besides this one piece we happened to come across? Do we send them an ask about it and hope they arent malicious? It stands to reason that they KNOW they should put in an effort, theyre in the *obvious* minority of artists in this fandom so… odds are they do not give a fuck about depicting Black hairstyles well. I dont want to make a fuss where its not beneficial, especially as a non black person, for the obvious reasons of how fandoms typically treat black fans. But, there IS an issue, however small a percentage… so wheres the line?

I could have always just ended it with "everyone's a goddamn racist for funsies on here and I hate all of you"- because in my experience when we talk about "where's the line" on here, it's almost non-existent for the majority, not the minority! It's incredibly tempting to damn you all!

Instead, I made an entire blog to give people a chance. If I, who actually undergoes the very bigotry I teach about, have the grace to do that for you, I do believe that everyone else can reach inside for the strength to apply and hold accountable. There's always a benefit to speaking up against racism and injustice, even if it's not "changing their mind".

Now, if you genuinely just don't want to do that, then don't- but recognize that that's not because nothing can be done! That said, you don't have to fight every battle, and every battle doesn't have to be a fight! For those who you genuinely think are just "new" or "learning" artists, when you point out the issue, you can offer guidance. "Hey, here's an idea on how to better capture this braid pattern in a way that more accurately reflects Black hair". It doesn't have to be a "callout" off rip. If they don't take it well, then that's on them. That's a reflection of their character, not yours. And as a nonblack person, that is a role in your allyship that is important, because I don't expect Black people to have to show grace and teach to those who do wrong by us.

So no, I can't give you some statistically defined line of "oh this is antiblackness". because it's not that simple and it never has been.

I'm about to say something devastating but like do you think tsumugi's hair was always short before reconciling with natsume, because he always wanted to let go of how bad his past was... and so him growing it out is not only a sign of healing but also a part of how he chooses to accept the past even despite of everything that happened because he's matured so much 😭

IK U SENT THIS ASK BEFORE THE STORY DROPPED but in this story theyre saying tsumugi was trying to grow his hair out after he made the promise to natsume as a kid, but his mom would make him cut it. And like we all know his home life wasnt good. he learned to completely shut down his emotions because of it, and still rarely engages with his more negative feelings, and even pretends theyre not there.

and then comes the exfine phase, where tsumugi once again had short hair. a hairstyle eichi much preferred on him. i dont recall eichi ever being the one to MAKE him have this hairstyle, but it was still what was desired to sell the image of exfines elegance to the school.

and now, after he reunites with natsume and they have their little "to death do us part" moment, tsumugi starts to grow it out. he COMMITS to growing it out despite of outside opinion. even natsumes jabs dont get to him. THIS IS LIKE. HIS FIRST REAL DECISION OF HIS OWN VOLITION HES MADE IN YEARS. IT IS QUITE LITERALLY A SIGN OF HIM ALLOWING SOME CONTROL INTO HIS LIFE. NOT BEING WHAT EVERYONE ASKS OF HIM, AND LOOKING HOW HE WANTS TO. his short hair is LITERALLY associated with his home life AND with exfine, while his long hair is associated with him finding the place he belongs, with switch by his side. THAT IS GROWTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to then act like "actually him cutting his hair off is a good thing" is INSANE TO ME. and im still so flabbergasted at this story trying to make the argument that having an excessive wish turns it into a curse. He's albino and legally blind because of it. Though he can vaguely make out shapes and objects he uses a white cane to get around

He gets diagnosed with both after a major manic episode sometime in his 20s. Manic episodes usually change brain chemistry forever, so after having experienced one he is plagued by recurring delusions related to the world around him not being real and everyone else being just scripted characters

Just watched Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead

24 years old overworked office worker in Tokyo finally gets his day off when the city is overrun by zombie outbreak, then decides to do all the things he can't do when he was trapped in his hellish job before he becomes a zombie himself.

I like it because it's stupid real lmao. Nothing's gonna stop me from grabbing my favorite beverage to spend a long overdue off-day with, even if it's the end of the world.

This is a writing about the anime, not the live action movie. I do wonder why they released both anime and live action at the same time. As of this writing, the anime has 7 episodes already.

1st episode really sets the mood. The majority of the episode is black and white, symbolizing Akira's burnout meaningless day to day life. Then the colors suddenly explodes in vibrant and emotional manner as he undergoes a major life changing moment. You have to see it yourself.

Ngl a huge part of my drive to watch this is because it's written by Haro Aso, the mangaka for the Alice in Borderland. Which is an amazing story please read the manga/watch the Netflix series I'M BEGGING.

In a similar vein to AiB, Zom 100 is ultimately about life and how to cherish and fight for it in difficult, dying times. While AiB, being suspense thriller, is a lot more grim in exploring the theme, Zom 100 has a more lighthearted and carefree approach, though not without its own heartrending moments.

It's a fresh breather because the main protagonist and his friends are not highschoolers. For people who are already working, their ups and downs in their respective occupations at their respective ages are pretty relatable.

As expected of Haro Aso. He also incorporated a lot of different occupations for his cast in AiB, like forensic police or corporate lawyers, even though its main characters are still highschoolers (Not the case in the Netflix version tho, they get age-lifted).

Akira reminds me a lot of Shinra Kusakabe from Fire Force. Maybe because of the similar plain straight black hairstyle a la shounen protagonist, with a personality that's loud and cheery yet still politely kind. With dream of wanting to be heroes.

Also loving the dynamic between main cast. Akira-Kencho's is really that one friend you made in school that stuck with you for the rest of your life hell or high water. Their personalities clash with the uptight Ms. Risk Analysis and its fun to see how they mingle with each other. Unfortunately the blonde samurai woman has not appear yet so I cant comment but Im very sure she would be a fun addition.

The OP and ED are so catchy and lively, even though they have different type of music (as far as my meager musical knowledge can assess). Both are pretty vibrant, complete with the vivid images, truly a fitting celebration for the story. I love how the song titles (Song of the Dead and Happiness of the Dead, respectively) keep up with the X of the Dead theme naming.

The OP uses footages from previous episodes and it hits kinda hard in EP 7 for reasons happened in that arc. There seems to be at least 2 versions of the ED credit, which have some slight differences between each other.

Barney is a regular rollerskater who's looking for a big job to get some publicity for his group's roller rink. unfortunately he is in middle-of-nowhere new mexico

Pyro is a average pyro who's just a little more shut-in. they have a little anxiety and carry around a comfort plant since it has a hard time taking proper care of animals. it paints with spray paint and their pyrovision is uncanny early-mid 2000s 3D animation (think jane and the dragon)

Fritz is a plastic surgeon who got his upper head partially blown off and wears a mask to conceal it and for his anxiety. he has some boundary issues but is a okay person overall. he does the tiktok plastic surgeon thing where he tells you what he'd change about your face though so he's not the greatest person to hang out with.

RED's sniper was a normal sniper until he was murdered after a match a sniper robot who gained sentience. he killed sniper and replaced him. they think wearing a hat that obscures their upper face will make no be able to tell he's a robot but literally everyone knows and just doesn't want to bring it up. the only person who doesn't know is pyro because pyro assumes they're just both autistic and best friends. sniper has a fat superiority complex since he thinks he's the smartest person there and everyone else is stupid.

François is a pretty average spy, but I think his transforming aspect is a lot more reflective in it's design, there's a chameleon motif kinda and his body is kinda wonky.

Anya is just a reg heavy, she was closest to Zhanna and took after her a little in terms of hairstyle. she's very nice and acts as a older sister type to everyone.

JonE was a soldier but after a really fucked up respawn incident it spat out that. JonE is just really happy to be there :). everyone is pretty nice to him and JonE is pretty happy and nice 2! sometimes the respawn will miss a few fingers or a hand but overall it's okay👍 what matters is that he's having a good time

Dell is apache/white mixed, his parents divorced at a young age, so she's been reconnecting to her dad's side of the family, and took their last name Cosay once he got old enough to reach out. She gets a little self conscious about not knowing everything but she's learning a lot ^-^ and then he got hired by RED </3

they all want to kill eachother and get into fights daily but are also the best of friends

ALRIGHT SO NO SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE RN

The movie should've been a whole season fr BUT it was still amazing.

I LOVED IT AHHHHHH I WANT TO WATCH IT AGAIN

The animation doesn't disappoint and god I swear it felt like only an episode, it went by so fast 😭 it was kinda rushed though but that's what I expected. Still, I was at the edge of my seats many times, the rallies were so good it felt like a real match. And ngl I got emotional at the end LMAO I felt the tears and I was wearing makeup so it got ruined but whatever, it was worth it.

I do wish it was more emotional, I mean I know we joke a lot about the monologues and the amount of flashbacks there are but I kind of missed them lol. Idk, the movie should've taken it easy and relax sometimes, gives us time to at least feel Hinata's and Kenma's feelings (especially Hinata's, he's the mc after all), but that's honestly my only complaint, and even so, I seriously enjoyed it. Hopefully the next movie lasts longer

The rallies were amazing. Those in which the ball went from one side of court to the other non-stop??? Like, Nekoma was amazing with their saves and so was Karasuno.

And the Kenma and Kuroo flashbacks 😭😭😭 I LOVE THEM SO MUCH I wish I have a childhood friendship like them.

AND BOKUTO MY BOY He was amazing like always, cheering on Hinata and Tsuki. It was funny to see Bokuto, Tsuki and Kuroo "together" again, really missed their friendship/rivalry. AND THAT SCENE WHEN BOKUTO AND KUROO CHANGED THEIR HAIRSTYLES HAHAHBAHAHAHAH I LOVE THEM SM.

THE TSUKI AND YAMAGUCHI SCENE AAAAHHHHHHH YES YAMAGUCHI YOU GOT THIS‼️‼️‼️ Me and Tsuki are his cheer squad.

I wanted to hug Hinata so bad when Nekoma was going against him and were trying to stop his crazy jumps. He looked so frustrated and tired. That set from Kageyama mirrored the "take it easy" recieve from season 4 and it was what Hinata needed. A high set that gives you time to breathe, time to relax, time to think. And his "bam" jump was INCREDIBLE, and the way his eyes sparkled when he saw the set???? Ugh I love him so much. Loved all the Hinata and Kageyama scenes, their banter is always fun to see.

AND THE KENMA POV HOLY SHIT PLS MAKE MORE OF THOSE. That whole sequence had me at the edge of my sit, the way you could see Lev (or I think it was him? Idk) blocking, how Kenma clashed with him, then running after the ball, the receives, the other players, IT WAS BREATHETAKING I need one of these scenes but from Hinata's or Kageyama's pov. Both if possible 🙏🙏🙏

The way Kenma and Hinata were like "I don't want this to end" I DIDN'T WANT IT TO END EITHER THAT MOVIE SHOULD'VE BEEN ETERNAL.

Ahsmaksnk alright I was planning to just say shit without context but since you asked for it, prepare to hear about the worst fucking person!

So context for this story, Thomas Sanders has been struggling with a skin condition that has (among other things) been causing him to lose his hair. He's made a couple of videos, the most recent one coming with the announcement that he was shaving his hair off and changing a few other things about his look as a way to feel more confident in himself. I will say that the reactions I've seen from most fanders has been overwhelmingly positive and I'm getting the impression that he's been much happier since

And I only find this because I'm looking the roleslaying with roman tag, and certain fanders have the unfortunate tendency to tag unrelated Thomas Sanders stuff with the roleslaying tag

So he did a photoshoot with the new look recently. And I find edits of the photo shoot to put his old hairstyle back on, with a caption like "I think the old hair really ties it together 😍".

This is pretty damn insensitive and I have a tendency to go fucking feral when people are assholes about hair so naturally I go to the roleslaying server to bitch about this. Apparently I'm not the only one who's encountered this person, because I didn't even say a url before everyone is like "ugh god this fucking person".

So we're all morbidly fascinated by this person and we start looking through their blog. It's fucking vile in there. Just a whole lot of "wow Thomas is so sexy" coupled with "his new hair is gonna make me stop loving him :/" to make it really clear that they apparently think of him more as an object rather than a person with the right to look how he wants.

Turns out that they've been told directly that this is making Thomas uncomfortable and they haven't stopped. Their response to being criticised about this is genuinely hilarious. It includes some real gems like "I know it may seem like my love is conditional but it's not" (do you know the meaning of conditional) and "I just have some genuine concerns and criticisms" (you don't get to have genuine concerns about other peoples bodies) and "im not body shaming him" (this is absolutely body shaming. Honestly after hes been so vulnerable about his hair I'd say its worse than those other people) and "fanders can't handle even the slightest criticism towards Thomas 🙄" (maybe a fair criticism but what you're doing here is not criticism at all it's just being an asshole)

Apparently they got cancer as a kid or something and thought they were gonna lose their hair, so they get triggered by other people shaving their hair. And there was something about being afraid of change in there too. They described in great detail about how Thomas shaving his hair left them hyperventilating, and how when their irl crush said she wanted to shave her hair they kept dropping hints about how much they hated the idea until she left.

Honestly I'm concerned about them, other people's hair should not be leaving you this distressed. Like they need some help and I don't mean that in the "I don't like them so I'm gonna make jokes about them going to therapy way" I mean that entirely genuinely. I'd feel worse for them if they weren't such an asshole about it though. Like idgaf about your sob story if you're using it to justify asserting your own desires about how someone looks above their comfort and boundaries

Anyway yeah that's the reason I'm never gonna think about the silly fight with the bald guys in the same way every again. I mean I'm exaggerating but yeah

ALSO more min & XF connection and Teacher & Teruko connection?? and now a connection between Xander and Soundwave????? (oh yeah and connection between min & teacher, xander and XF, and teruko and soundwave… sigh i’m gonna be spending so much more time making up theories)

also also soundwave is an interesting pick for a third character for altdrdt… i get min, teruko, and xander for the drdt characters to choose (protag and the ones killed in the first chapter), and XF and Teacher for the altdrdt characters (protag and the character with big big connections to an already established drdt character) but how does Soundwave fit in? (its totally likely that drdtdev just chose him bc they like him or just because but in my head imma say it’s bc he’s actually really important to the story)

also also also a cool thing to get to see more of XF, Teacher, and Soundwave’s possible personalities… Teacher seems very calm, especially with how they’re holding their hands out placatingly in the second image. Soundwave seems like he might be a little shit (in the best way ofc) in the first image (i love the face he’s making and his pose holy shit) and then he’s adorable in the second image!! XF seems to have a slightly more… confrontational? (idk if that’s the word. mean spirited? that’s not rly it either) personality than i originally thought, with how they’re laughing at Soundwave in the second image. but sigh i love them. i just know that even if XF ends up doing horrible things im gonna be an apologist for her.

and i haven’t even talked about the art holy moly!! it’s so cute! i love how Soundwave has his hat on but with a different colored tag on it for both, as well as Teacher’s different colored hair ribbons (and I see that he still hasn’t opened his eyes… suspicious) Also it’s interesting that XF’s hair changed so dramatically for when they dress up as Min, since the other two seem to mostly keep similar hairstyles. though i do really like the blue in Soundwave’s hair (and his general hairstyle) for when he is dressed as Teruko!!

you can hear him humming pretty often, specially when he's sitting somewhere with nothing to do. most of the time it's songs he knows (both from his adventure and just typical Skyloft songs), but other times it's just made up melodies (though a few might sound... familiar to the others)

whistling too! he's probably learned a few bird calls from the Surface back home, plus some others from everyone else's times. seeing him whistling back at birds is a Sight to behold

he likes doing people's hair - he's not the best at it, not by a long shot, but Sun has taught him a few hairstyles across the years and at the very least he's perfected one or two styles of braids. if any of the Chain's heads are near him while he's bored and has nothing to do with his hands he will just start making lots of tiny braids

he's an artsy guy - wood carving seems to be his main thing, but you can see in the game that he paints them too, so i like to think he also does some sketches from time to time, and would love to learn more art forms if possible

his handwriting is like. maybe not TERRIBLE but not good either. mostly because he tends to write so fast paced it all kinda blurs together. but when he has to write someone-he-cares-about's name in a letter or somewhere else he usually tries as hard as he can so it's a little bit on the good side of handwriting. also adds hearts to Sun's name like:

7 Anti LO Asks

1. Do you know what really gets my blood boiling about this comic? Persephone and Demeter's relationship.

In the myths, Demeter and Persephone loved each other more than anything. Their reunion is so important - it marked the coming of spring and growth. A whole cult was dedicated to this for crying out loud. Yes, the myths were far from perfect, but the Persephone and Demeter myth showed the strength of a loving mother-daughter relationship with Demeter searching endlessly to find her child that was ripped away and had her innocence forcibly taken.

Now, RS is not the only author to make Demeter this over-bearing mother type in order to put more positivity onto the Hades-Persephone relationship. However, RS takes this trend to a whole new level - to the point where I would even consider it misogyny.

How is it, she takes this beautiful mother-daughter relationship and makes it out to be an abusive and controlling one, and then takes the Hades-Persephone relationship from a forceful one to a loving, perfect relationship with no problems? How is it ok to ruin one relationship to elevate another?

I understand that many versions of the myth try to downplay Hades' actions, and even make it so Persephone actually falls in love with him and there is no rape. But it doesn't change that this relationship was problematic, and meant to represent the loss of innocence.

Then fans have the gall to claim this comic is feminist and then claim on top of that that Demeter and Persephone's relationship was the same in the myth? These fans clearly don't know the myths, and neither does RS.

Making Hades a good person is fine. Changing it up a bit to make Persephone's loss of innocence something else is also fine. But ruining Demeter and Persephone's relationship? Especially when Persephone has to spend half the year with her? So horrible. 

2. im sorry, but rachel cant introduce KRONOS coming back and then dropping it for several episodes to focus on a stake-less trail and persephone not knowing what lingerie to seduce hades in. like thats too much of an earth shaking development and huge stake plot point to just ignore for months to focus instead on something as minor as hxp's relationship, which only points out a huge flaw: why is hxp's relationship so minor in this? isnt the whole point supposed to be about them?

3. I think LO completely dropped the ball over Hades’ characterization. 

From the first ep I thought ok, this is good, we have some bones to see he’s not that lucky in love and is just tired and lonely, and while ignoring the creepy actions towards Persephone, I thought ok, Artemis hates him, Hestia hates, even Ares hates him, maybe once Persephone finally sees the underworld and probably gets to know him it’ll be a clever twist and they’ll be proven wrong. The underworld will turn out to be fair and just, the citizens will love Hades, he’ll be revealed to be a good leader and king and not like his brothers, it’ll be like everyone saying Hades of myth isn’t actually that bad, and it’ll help reinforce why this sweet and bubbly Persephone wants him, she sees the real him, not the mean rumors and assumptions, this is perfect.

And then it just didn’t happen. The exact opposite happened, actually.

We’re shown the LO underworld is cruel and unjust, where the poor dead are forced into slavery and Hades created a harsh class divide with him and him only on top, the citizens hate him, the underworld gods don’t trust him and openly seem ok if he’s taken out of power, he’s not a good leader and king and doesn’t even want the job yet keeps it for his own ego and grip of power m, and on top of it all he is just like his brothers, if not worse. He loves to get violent over any little slight against him, he hoards wealth and resources to enrich himself while his citizens starve and struggle to survive, he’s corrupt, he controls all the media and laws to bend to his will, sleeps with his brothers wife for centuries behind his back while claiming to be holier than thou, he has sex with his secretaries who are made dependent on him for any way to survive, and now he lusts after his barely legal intern who is also now dependent on him for her way to survive, and that’s only what I remember off the top of my head.

LO perfectly set up to prove Hades isn’t the devil or the false pop culture assumption that he’s evil and to show some actual facts from myth, and yet Rachel only ended up reinforcing exactly that and even making him even worse with her made up ideas, all while thinking having Persephone ignore or excuse it somehow makes it not bad or even a good thing. It’s honestly kind of impressive just how bad of writing that actually is. 

4. Chapter 172 is not that interesting. It’s setup had me excited to see Hephaestus and Hera and learning more about echo, but it’s cut so short. Because again the story can’t leave HXP out for 2 seconds.

I can also see why Zeus is gonna go insane. 

5. i agree w/ other anon. LO should have pulled a PJO or a BoZ and just made up OCs and have them interact with the gods than whatever Rachel thinks shes doing, which is lying she's being accurate and faithful while completely changing all of it, removing what is needed, and adding what isnt so that it lines up with no actual myth besides like, various 50 shades fanfic she read in 2015 and some popular tumblr text posts.

6 . the animation studio behind blood of zeus literally can only draw one face for the men and one face for the women and they were still able to make the gods all look distinct and hot while LO can't even bother to use more than 6 colors and can only have the women look as tiny as possible with the biggest boobs while the men are all just lego men.

Okay so like I stopped reading LO way back before season 1 ended, and a majority of my knowledge of the series comes from what I read here on your blog which is enough for me lol and I decided to read the latest 5 chapters just to see what's up (on zahard. I refuse to give the actual series any views)

And I just. Could not take the whole scene with Daphne running from Apollo seriously? The anatomy and art inconsistency was so distracting that i genuinely could not find it serious. Even when Thanatos discovers her hibernated body I couldn't take it seriously because of how she looked?

And when Hades had that call (??? Was it a call? Or his inner dialogue? I couldn't really tell ngl) with Zeus and said he's causing Persephone unnecessary distress, and that she didn't pose any threat. B!tch??? She killed a ton of mortals??? She has no control over her powers???? She's literally a fugitive for the aforementioned things??? She apparently woke Kronos up? (Idk if anyone knows about that, again my knowledge only spans to whatever I read here) Hello????

And I have a lot to say about the chapters starting the trial but I'll only mention one thing; Hades saying "I don't think blindly supporting my little brother would be doing him any favours (as a ruler)" had me cackling. This is coming from a guy blindly supporting a girl he's literally only known for a few weeks, who's like what, only recently turned 20? Sit tf down Hades you're not cool, you creepy ass overgrown smurf.

Overall I still hate this series lmao. Regarding art though I feel like I wouldn't be so miffed about the anatomy much if the character designs were consistent and the story was compelling. They literally change hairstyles and body types frame by frame, and it's distracting.

The timeline from what I read here is laughable. 4 years in publication with almost 200 chapters and you're telling me only like a month has passed canonically. That's wild and such poor writing.

And as someone who literally will sympathise with any lead character pretty quickly, the story makes me hate them. It makes me want to root against them. I also hate the fact this trash is somehow top ranked on webtoons when so many other stories are far better then it.

feh channel time first, because this one has a lot less to deal with:

directly after introducing the game, feh refers to the characters as "students of garreg mach". this could mean exactly Nothing, but choosing to refer to them as students makes me think this is almost definitely a pre timeskip or early mid skip game. the fact that the mobile game's new summoning events are only academy arc heroes supports that, too.

i'm pretty much certain at this point that arval is a sothis equivalent, and the fact that byleth doesn't know where shez's power comes from is mildly alarming. the glowing eyes though??? SO goddamn cool but also agarthan-looking.

his interaction with constance is fantastic as well, i love watching him rile her up, it's very funny. ngl i kinda wish constance had kept her curls but she doesn't look bad by any means! the fan being a part of her spellcasting is such a nice touch!

balthus really doesnt look that different to me lol but that's not an inherently bad thing. i just see very little change. nice to see he's still doing well!

i'm gonna be real with you i am Very scared of shez. the fact that they can change the fate of the game, that it seems they can remember fighting against byleth many times in the past, and again, the teleporting, i'm kinda terrified. i doubt byleth will actually die in this game but that doesn't stop me from being alarmed at the last scene of the trailer.
