Actually offense. The Percy Jackson Tv show had no suspense. Everything was stated out right we never got to wonder or be suspicious/surprised because everything was stated. Some Examples Medusa, The fates, Furies, EVEN CRUSTY FOR GODS SAKES. There was no build up, even the Summer solstice failed. It was supposed to be a DEADLINE but they went passed it and brushed that off in one convo with Zeus. Hades complete mood switch???? Why was Athena so petty?? Like yes Athena is most likely petty but she wouldn’t take a risk like that its, NOT smart.

Dont get me started on the last episode Traitor reveal. NO SUSPENSE No dramatic drop just. “Your the lightning thief..” LIKE BRO WHAT WHERES MY 60 SECONDS.

Im sorry to say this but I wasn’t content or happy with the tv show. Even the Cgi was weird and the fighting was terrible. The sparing they did with Luke and Percy was the best fight scene in that while show… and that is just sad. Even the fight with ARES was underwhelming. Im hoping they’ll take this criticism and really change that for season two I want dramatic drops, build up, TIME TO BREATH. MAYBE EVEN A LONG FIGHT? They drop so much lore and so fast you don’t have time to digest.

Im pissed about the May lore drop WE DIDNT KNOW ABOUT HER UNTIL BOOK 5. ANNABETH WASN’T EVEN ALLOWED INSIDE (or it was just the kitchen I believe) BUT STILL. Annabeth was almost as clueless as Percy if I remember correctly. Even if she wasnt she doesn’t have the right to spill that secret of Lukes like girl what?? Luke shouldn’t have told about Thalia but still at least she was his friend as well but his trauma about his mom was not yours to share also guilt tripping Hermes??

May’s fate wasn’t even really Hermes fault. He tried to talk her out of it and it was Hades who cursed the oracle in the first place. Im just so upset about all the secrets that were revealed early.

The acting didn’t have much emotion or I felt they portrayed it wrong. For instance Percy reacted to almost everything with the same face. The show was way to dry for my liking. Percy jackson is supposed to be funny. Sally kind of seemed like a mean mom iykwim. I mean she just had no patience for Percy at all and it constantly felt like she was guilt tripping him… no just me??? I get that shes a struggling and single parent but Whattt???? She’s supposed to be supportive, kind and loving. If I met that sally I wouldn’t expect her to sit me down in her kitchen offering us a blanket and cookies.

THEY DID GABE FOWL. They did him so poorly that man did not deserve to die sure he was a dead beat but seriously?? Tartarus would not smell like him. They should have just let him get divorced it would have made sense but turning him to stone?? For what being a lazy, grouchy stepdad??

Gabe in the book was abusive manipulated just a straight up Piece of sewer gunk. He HIT them he abused them and manipulated them into staying quiet. The entire scene with the cops and everything. The guy in the show tho?? He looks like he’d fall over from the raise of a hand bro wouldn’t even be able to throw a punch. He doesn’t even have a job?? He looks like the worst he would do is yell and make fun of you because he’s probably projecting because he’s completely useless but deserving death?? He was more of a nuisance he didn’t deserve to die being divorced and alone forever I can’t understand but seriously??

Also the Percabeth slow burn… they’re pushing it they were just friends in the first book maybe in the second we start getting into it. But seriously the first season? She just started opening up to him in the first book. WE DIDN’T EVEN GET THEIR TALK LIKE UGH WHAT I wanted the Annabeth backstory about her dad but they didn’t have the convo about her going home for the summer we didn’t get into it. They’re overcooking my 5 book long slow burn.

They stuffed to much into too short of episodes that we didn’t get time to breath or get to know our characters. It was just a one minute battles here and there, a few conversations about impending doom and Percy being sad about his mom like. I know I’m being Petty but they should have split most of those episodes into two so we had more time to learn about our characters or digest the info dumps. The first episodes had me reeling I swear my head was swirling. The characters themselves didn’t have time to breath “Oh your claimed by poseidon now you have to go on a deadly quest to find the master bolt everyone thinks you stole but we think hades stole it also he probably has your mom.” Why are they shoving everything in our face. Percy in the books had 3 DAYS to come to terms with his parentage but show percy had like a day AT MOST.

I don’t know, they just could have done so well but they didn’t. I swear Mikey mouse must have tied Rick to a chair no way he said yeah this is amazing or a good script decision. THERE WERE SO MANY PLOT HOLES or decisions that didn’t make any sense.

I know that everyone is pretty sure that the FF movie will mean that Johnny will now never be officialy let out of the closet but personally I feel like since the FF are so unpopular and ppl have been bugging Marvel and Disney for an actual canon & 'important' gay character that they may just? Use him? I'm absolutely losing it and its not going to happen (and if it does, good god, its going to be handled so badly) but imagine. So I am going to go Full Conspiracy Theorist out here for a minute because when I and a couple others I personally know have been kind of saying “Johnny’s never coming out now” it refers to a very specific recent incident that we were kind of side eyeing for Possible Movie Interference even before this announcement. Saying up front that I don’t know that this is true, and even if Someone Did Change The Script it’s just as likely to be comic editorial pulling the plug than Kevin Feige coming down from on high to stuff Johnny back in the closet like he’s the Plant Man and it’s the ‘60s:

So here’s the deal: we know that there are several creators involved with Marvel who hold the belief that Johnny Storm is not the bastion of heterosexuality he’s very often been pushed as. Marjorie Liu (and most likely Daniel Way but we only have Marjorie Liu’s word on this last time I checked) intentionally wrote the relationship between him and Daken in Dark Wolverine as sexual. When I reviewed Marvels Snapshot: Fantastic Four for Women Write About Comics I received some very nice commentary from the creators and a retweet from Kurt Busiek, who is in charge of the Snapshot collection -- and I spend the majority of that review pretty openly talking about the subtext of Johnny’s sexuality and the history that has. So like, this is out there, it goes beyond fandom circles. People know, and you can tell, because a lot of the time multiple creators don’t spend decades making jokes about a character being gay if they don’t kind of think that character is gay. (I am looking at you, John Byrne.) But anyway, fast forward. It’s 2018 and the Fantastic Four are back on the shelves after their Film Rights Mandated Banishment (that Jonathan Hickman leaked as being a Real Thing and not another conspiracy theory). And while I have some significant problems with the 2018 run so far, I have to say, that first issue starts off strong, not in the least because it also featured the return of Wyatt Wingfoot, Johnny’s best friend and former roommate. Turned current roommate again, since apparently they were living together. They were also touching a lot.

Like a lot lot. Love a boyfriend leash. (Fantastic Four v6 #1) And like, look, longtime Johnny readers can tell you all about his long relationship with Wyatt Wingfoot and the subtext you can read into it, but a lot of casual readers noticed this too. People were talking about it. It was noticed. It was pretty obviously paralleled against Ben and Alicia, who were getting engaged at the same time.

Fast forward a couple of issues, all of which Wyatt sticks around for -- he was pretty obviously living with the Fantastic Four after their return for a couple of issues there -- to Ben’s bachelor party, where he and Johnny have this particular conversation:

“When you know -- and you’ll know -- take that leap. Don’t wait fer stronger shielding. Be brave, Johnny Storm.” (FF v6 #5) There’s a lot to unpack here in general, but the “be brave, Johnny Storm” sentiment continually sticks out to me, along with how ungendered this speech is -- not when you meet the right woman, blah blah blah. It’s not a big jump to imagine this as leading out to a coming out narrative, and that’s before we factor in this solicit for Fantastic Four #7:

“Plus a strange new development in the life of the Human Torch.” If you’ve read the issue, however, you know literally nothing of note happens to Johnny in it, let alone anything you could consider a new development, strange or not. It seems pretty clear, if you pull the clues, that there was originally some kind of plot involving Johnny -- and likely his romantic future -- in the original plans but then at some point that plot got pulled and likely replaced by the current Sky soulmate plot that has literally left Johnny shackled by heterosexuality. So it’s clear that at some point in early 2019 something shifted and this Johnny plot got pulled, for whatever reason. And I have no proof beyond all this circumstantial evidence that they were lining up anything that was actually going to concretely within the actual Fantastic Four book address his sexuality, but I think given the circumstantial evidence it is a valid theory. I don’t know if I specifically believe that the reasoning behind whatever this plot getting pulled was MCU interference, but it’s likely that the Fantastic Four project was seriously in development by that point to be able to announce it now, and if, by whatever chance, my “Johnny was going to come out” theory was true, we also know that the MCU has a serious problem with actually handling queer representation within their universe -- see Tessa Thompson’s bisexual Valkyrie scene getting cut, the entire Gay Joe Russo incident. They’re, what, 20+ movies in now and there are no actual queer main characters, right? I know Eternals is apparently changing that, but Eternals is not out yet, and also has significantly less name recognition than Fantastic Four. It’s not a great record, and while I would like to think that maybe that could change either with the Fantastic Four or by the time a Fantastic Four movie rolls out, I just don’t have that kind of faith. But if I’m wrong I’ll totally donate double the cost of the ticket and large popcorn to a charity that actually deserves it.

So there’s my conspiracy theory! Some people do this with celebrities, I do it with Johnny Storm. It’s probably equally unrewarding either way.

So he couldn’t even confirm to himself if he was a killer or not until they got into the tomb and his memories got a little more accessible. And still, he remembers only some things and its foggy so. Like while we and him and wu xie want to assume he was a person who didn’t hurt others or wasn’t there for bad reasons, even xiaoge himself can’t really know for sure. And as we’ll find out later w san shu its immensely easy for ppl to gaslight a guy who can’t remember his own version of events clearly. which just sucks even more...

Hwayugi Overall Review

Since this is just a review, I’ll try my best not to give spoilers to the ones who didn’t watch it yet. (but that wont really happen.. so just read at you own risk)

STORY WISE:

were you addicted to GOBLIN? did you like GOBLIN? was GOBLIN your type of show/genre? if your answer is all YES then I say my friend, Hwayugi would be your cup of tea. 

but if your asking me if they are the same in terms of story? then my answer is “I dont know. I didnt watch Goblin in the first place”  LOL!!

this one I know, they have a common denominator of giving you the feels….

Kidding aside, if you want something with

Casts that are marvelous/ Great acting then its a ✔ 

if it has funny Bromance ✔ ✔

Romance with oozing chemistry of the leads ✔✔✔

and its COMEDY? A++ 

a good story? ha.ha. oooooook… we’ll get to that……

During the first half I had nothing but praises for the story was really good. This is one of the rarest shows that captured me emotionally and physically by the 1st episode…. but then again no drama is perfect, it sure got frustrating as it reaches the climax and the suppose to be climax was a big “WTF! You.must.be.kiddin.me.”

I was totally ready to forgive ep19 but then ep20 happened.. But yeah we are cool about it now..

now that I’ve come to that, it think the problem was because Hong sisters tried so hard to make it unpredictable that they didn’t noticed how they were already ruining the story.But then given its their work being rocky in the middle and dragging it out until the end is inevitable. But i tell you, even if it got so screwed up the addiction was still real, so I guess it was still the good eh?

CAST: 

One word: BRILLIANT

each cast were just too perfect for their role, I had nothing more to say.

LEE SEUNG GI- as great Sage, Equal to the Heavens SON OH GONG is just PERFECTION. 

He nailed the character so much that even he was an ass I couldn’t help but love him. Park Bo gum was 1st offered the role but honestly I’m really glad he turned it down tho coz i couldn’t imagine any other actor playing SOG rather than LSG. His features and personality were totally meant for the role, that’s why he became so effective in portraying it. Character wise SOG was really fun, frustrating at times, but swoon worthy at all times. yum yum yum!

OH YEON SEO- as human JIN SEON MI/SAM JANG, the most pitiful character in this drama, literally everyone just kept using her and regarded her like she’s just a thing they could throw anytime… like everyone were just so cruel to her, and I was in pain seeing that, and the more they do that the more I root for her character. 

OYS an actress got a lot of hate in her portrayal, but the more hate she got the more I fell for her too. She pulled the character JSM so well even though she says she’s just about 15% similar to her. Aint she great? I’m still bitter on how her character met her end and I want justice for that!

 CHA SEUNG WON- as CEO Woo Hwi Chul/ MA WANG the Demon Bull, 

a lot cant stand his over acting here but I greatly appreciated that otherwise, he always paved a way for funny scenes to occur. And his bromance with LSG is just superb, their interactions and bickering were so delightful to watch. Character wise he was scheming, sometimes selfish, but frequently helpful 2nd lead, the fatherly figure of everybody, I just love how he took every demons into his house and loved them. this show should be titled “MAWANG and his peculiar demon children”

Other Casts: 

all were Daebak I just couldnt help but praise them. All actors gave justice to their characters too, even the minor once became memorable. It just pains me that I didn’t get to see my desired endings for most of them (especially the girls)

 ROMANCE: 

ONE OF THE BEST CHEMISTRY I’VE SEEN. 1st episode they already got me. Sweet moments were not disappointing for the kissing scene were sizzling hot (IT was TRUE mehn!) but it was still your typical push-pull kind of love story.  But romance wise it was VERY VERY SUFFICIENT.

The only concern I had was they never had that COMMUNICATION between them. they were never honest to one another thus eventually ended up on them going on their own versions of  “because I love you, I will protect you with my life” bullcrap instead of just fighting it together.

CINEMATOGRAPHY:

a lot might say that it sucks but I say otherwise.

Yes the CGI was not great and cringed worthy (like what’s up with the ape looking ghost spirits anyway?) but the pan out views, the scenic views, the close up parts, and oohh them reflective shots were the best. i find those meaningful and poetic somehow,  Those actually occurred often.and I greatly appreciated it especially that you’ve get to see things in a different angle.. notable scene would be this. 

yes because I know you like this too (づ￣ ³￣)づ

and the CG Dragon- the “IT WHO MUST NOT BE NAMED”.. OOOHH PLEASE DONT GET ME THERE if you don’t want to see a full page rant.

but let me praise it though for it exceeded my expectations.. it wasn’t BAD at all.. it was WORST!! 

They only had about a week or two to prepare this so lets give it  to them, well at least it turned out cute. VERY Child Friendly.

but overall the shots for the drama were actually pleasing to watch.

OST: 

It served its purpose very well. Need I to say more? 

All of them brought life and drama to the scene so effectively. It was able to carry out all of emotions needed and I was really carried away by the scene each time the music plays.. and the lyrics were a perfect fit too. Top 2 faves are still When I saw you by Bumkey & if we are destined by BEN.

only question is why is the instrumental music that was played during EP14 backhug confession scene from SOG not included in the full album.. can you share it to me please if you have a copy. Thanks

CONCLUSION: To close this overly dramatic review, as I said on a previous post I’ll rate it 8.8/10. 

I would have given it a much higher rating if only ep19-20 didn’t occur. But we are good now, ain’t even mad anymore……….

But you know what? The only thing that irks me was the way they delivered the ending and solved the issues of the show! First off, WTF did they just do to just kill SM off?!!  her death was meaningless, it didn’t even served its purpose!!! Then, the first 60 mins of the last ep was soooo wasted to pure nonsense..This show has about 90% potential of having a happy ending since they’ve resolved everything in 19(manner of how it was done was so effed btw) but nooo they decided to focus on a useless illogical Amnesia arc…..

ok need to stop because just as I said im pretty cool about it now. Yesssss we are… Aren’t we?

So the golden question is.. Am i hoping for a season 2 or do I want it? 

My answer is NO. Why? Because that is near to impossible (wag ka ng umasa bes mas masasaktan ka lng) . No but seriously, Hong Sisters somehow closed it anyway by giving a very plausible input (OG getting SM from Underworld) to the audience that whatever scenario they might think it will still lead to a 100% sureball Happy Ending conclusion..

and plus I don’t want them ruining my already perfect version of  the ending. 

P.S.  And just to be clear… I am not salty about it anymore. I’ve forgiven them sincerely, so I’m totally cool about everything already.OK?

i definitely prefer it on PC! controls aside i just like the bigger screen tbh (my laptop is 15″). mostly the differences are the controls/buttons! since you can’t hold down multiple buttons at once on mobile, they’ve got more to cover all the functions (pc doesn’t have an extra dash button, we just right click or press shift; if we’re in the air i think one of the buttons turns into the drop down/plunge, rather than showing like 3 on mobile? i can’t remember precisely but yeahhh; there’s also the joystick on the left side of the screen on mobile that obviously isn’t there on pc bc we have the keyboard. it’s also harder to move the camera around whilst doing things on mobile i feel?)

2017 Goals So Far

Hi. I fucked up a lot, but I’m still going. 

1. Finish Rewriting Derek’s Laugh His Smile, His Laugh by December 31, 11:59PM. 

Okay. I’m basically halfway through the book. I’m also second-guessing myself and thinking that this is a complete mess and I’ve wasted all my time, energy, money into something that will fail at the same time I try not to put that out in the universe because thoughts are things (???? yup that’s something I believe in now I guess?????). I’m trying my best. It’s not the worst thing I’ve written and these drafts aren’t meant to be perfect. The first draft doesn’t have to be perfect. Neither is the second or the third. I’ve done so many changes to this story though I’m happy to say that at the core, it’s still the same story that I love and want to tell. So. I think that’s the important part. My professor hasn’t told me that I suck or that the story sucks. And a lot of my classmates and teachers are always like Look, dude, it’s not going to be great the first few times but it’s going to be if you keep going at it. 

I’ve improved. I like to say that I have. Taking my master’s in creative writing isn’t a complete bust. I’ve learned things about writing and how I write and what I write that I wouldn’t have learned if I just sat on my ass all day thinking that my writing’s the shit. I had voices in my head telling me what works and what doesn’t work before but now I have many more. That’s not a bad thing. I like being able to edit myself constantly even though it’s so frustrating to keep on writing the same scene for an hour and a half because IT JUST DOESN’T FEEL RIGHT. 

I’m not super optimistic about finishing the story by the deadline but I’m not pessimistic either. I can do this. I will do this. Fuck everything. 

2. Fit in your clothes. 

Considering that I don’t fit in a good 90% of my pants and I don’t feel comfortable in 60% of my tops... I’m not doing so well here. This is making me question my depression and mental health because I’m always like WHAT IF IM JUST SUPER LAZY???? AND IM HIDING BEHIND A FAUX MASK OF MENTAL INSTABILITY. 

But then. Like. Whenever I think of going to the gym, and talking to a cab driver, and then having to exercise, it fills me with so much dread that I’m like demotivated. I miss having a treadmill in the house and I’m lowkey willing to buy myself a treadmill just so I can start exercising at home. But idk. Ok. I have some money. But I’m not sure if I’ve got enough to get me through it, you know? Will it be an investment???? Should I just suck it up and go to the gym?? Or should I start shopping around for cheap treadmills? 

I mean, I do need a new iPad case and a new battery for my laptop so...I might just do that??? I need to start going around tho. Look at things. See the world.

My friend is free on Wednesdays. There’s gonna be a ton of people next week because of a holiday here in my city....But it might just be the perfect time. Sales and shit. Hmmmmm....

Anyway, after being stressed about passing my summer classes, getting my UK visa, and then actually getting into the UK, I think I have time to worry about my gym time again. 

3. Survive job at least until August 23. 

It’s safe to say that I’m doing fine. I wrote this thing during a low time in my “career” as a customer service rep and right now, I think I can manage this year’s horrors. The holidays are upon us and I’m like BRING IT ON BITCH. 

4. Maintain YouTube channel (2 videos a month)

lol bitch I can’t even maintain myself. I’m giving up on youtube for the time being. There’s so much shit to do and so little time and so little mental capacity. I want to do a gaming channel. but. Like. My laptop’s shit so I’m not going to do that until I have a decent thing to do that with. I still have to upload a video explaining why I’m not on YouTube for now.
