can I just say. coffee theory is stupid and completely cheapens the choice Aziraphale makes.

Aziraphale continues to say no to Metatron's offer until Metatron uses the real bait: if you take over Heaven, you can reinstate Crowley to his Angelic status. And that is what gets Aziraphale to say yes hook line and sinker — he can take Crowley with him so Crowey doesn't have to be afraid of Hell and Aziraphale can run things Do It Right as the Head of Heaven and no one would say anything to Crowley ever again if Aziraphale was on his side. Aziraphale doesn't know about the trial and the fact that Gabriel was fired for disagreeing w Heaven on the Second Armageddon front. He just thinks Gabriel was fired bc he fell in love w a demon (and Aziraphale's in love w a demon). Aziraphale strongly believes that if he can reinstate Crowley as an angel again then there would be no such objections from Heaven at all, because they would both be on the same side and they can be together and if anything ever goes wrong, both Crowley and he would be protected under Aziraphale's position as the new boss of Heaven. Plus, the way he remembers it, Crowley enjoyed making things creating things and still likes to do good deeds which he gets in trouble for if Hell finds out, but he won't if he's an angel, in Aziraphale's eyes then Crowley would be free to do all the good he liked. And because Aziraphale would be the boss, Crowley would be able to ask questions and work with him and make things better w his inquisitive perspective, something Crowley always wanted to do and Aziraphale wants to give him that also.

He doesn't know the full depth of things that Crowley knows, which is why when Crowley hears Aziraphale's offer, all he hears is that Aziraphale is choosing Heaven, after everything they have done to him, Aziraphale is leaving Crowley FOR Heaven. The way he sees it, Aziraphale wants him to change and be Heaven's definition of "Good" so they can both be in Heaven, conforming to a life Crowley left behind long ago, a life he knows Aziraphale wouldn't be happy in either. Which is the killing blow to Crowley's heart bc Aziraphale would choose THAT instead of coming away with Crowley? Devastating. But he doesn't know that Metatron's offer WAS Crowley's Angelification and hence forth security that got Aziraphale to say yes. Crowley hasn't communicated a lot to Aziraphale but Aziraphale also hasn't communicated a lot to him either and they're both on very different pages w the information they've got and what they feel they need to do to be together and be safe and happy.

Does Aziraphale make the naive choice? Yes. Does he make so in full control of his mind and senses? Also yes. Having his coffee poisoned is an incredibly cheap tactic because as a writer it's a cop out. It robs Aziraphale of not only his agency but also the reasonings behind his choice. It absolves him from the struggles and consequences of his actions and robs him of the growth and realization and epiphany he will have in the third act. It cheapens their inevitable reconciliation.

Metatron didn't hand him the coffee to poison him. He handed it to him so he can use the manipulative familiarity of "oh look i brought ur coffee order, isn't it cool how I know your coffee order isn't it nice how we are close like that?" that was the tactic. to get him to listen. Not some elaborate coffee poison.

No judgment on anyone who disagrees, but please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks it's incredibly out of character for Abby to be a Med Student in Modern AUs. Canon Abby grew up around doctors. The fact that there is absolutely No Indication that she ever intended to follow in her dads footsteps despite plentiful opportunities tells me a whole lot.

She's smart enough to have been a doctor, with all the self-discipline needed to succeed without a doubt. But she Clearly Didn't Want to. She knows about medical stuff the same way I know a lot of facts about my own dad's job, a job I have No Intention of following him into, but still like learning about.

Abby literally tells Mel that she'd never have been able to be a surgeon. That her anxiety about accidentially hurting people would have been too much.

Abby wasn't her dad's student with Mel, and that tells me Everything I need to know about a Modern AU Abby, ~unless~ you go the she felt pressured into it and secretly hates it route.

ig another annoying thing about the 'this transcends language 😲😱' comments about the most obvious of cognates and literal english loanwords, is that it's another example of how native english speakers (and, by virtue of their population size, mostly USamericans) are the arbiters of what gets seen as 'universal' vs what's weird and foreign on the anglophone internet. cause to me as a dutch speaker, a lot of german compound words would '''transcend language''' - but the tweets that go viral about those kinds of words are about how they're silly little nonsense words to laugh at, can't be a real language, can you believe anyone speaks that!

BEFORE I GET SCARED AND FLEE..... the backstory is a little funny. shrimpo's cowardice in other toons' intimidation (like the shrimpo/sprout dialogue) makes me think that it would funny if he started a fight with waffle because the other was not intimidating at all. y'know, until they duke it out and waffle's not actually that bad at it. it's almost impressive. he tolerates waffle, wouldn't ever call him a friend but chooses him to run to if there's something going on. waffle, meanwhile, sticks around like a little enabler for violence. think of him as those minor antagonists in kids cartoons; he's a disagreeable pain in most episodes, but he isn't the devil reincarnate. he's just. a dude. I'm genuinely so moved by Albania's entry for Eurovision this year - I gave up on this song contest long ago, but this entry; Zjerm by Shkodra Elektronike speaks so much to me as Albanian diaspora, I really can't help but be brought to tears each time...and I just want to talk about it

There's already the understanding of the song being about just a minute of pure peace in an ideal world and Kolë's part encompassing the actual reality; the clash between this hope for the ideal and the grounding in what's real is so beautifully orchestrated. What I want to talk about is the lyrics and why the fire element is so prominent, how they really encapsulate the Albanian spirit, the way she says "Njer'z't e mirë / E njer'z't pa emër / Kërcejnë valle n'shpirt" which translates "the good people and the nameless people dance valle in their souls". Valle is traditional Albanian dance and it has many versions across the country but we all dance in a circle, and we dance to celebrate, to mourn, to enjoy, to get excited - for anything for anyone. And throughout history we have always danced around fire. Fire and the sun was what we worshiped before organized religion was introduced.

We have a lot of folklore and pagan deities around fire, for us it has always symbolized prosperity, the continuation of the tribe, the hope to continue generation after generation and connection with our ancestors. Fire brings together the community that gathers around it and this belief exists in our culture today at all times, the bright red and the spirited songs and our dynamic dances, we are and have always been passionate people.

And it is further elaborated in Kolë's part "Zjerm / Bjer' mbi vallet tona tribale / Që ushtojnë sa orteku kur bjen n'male" translating to "fire, falling upon our tribal dances, echoing as loud as avalanches falling on mountains" to signify the other side of fire; the danger, imbalance its uncontrollable nature, which has also been part of our culture and the violence we have experienced in our history. It's a song that recognizes our prehistoric traditions of praising the fire and the sun and knowing when to fear it, when to look at its reality but also when to utilize its warmth and protection to continue to hope and remain spirited. They also mention this in their interview here (starting at 4:47)

I'm very taken by them using pagan and folk Albanian themes! They're interwoven in our culture no matter how much organized religion has intervened and demonized or nitpicked so much of it... and it's still what keeps us united and spirited. I also enjoy the visuals of the staging, especially these symbols remind me a lot of tribal tattoos from Northern Albanian highlands where Shkodra is located!

It genuinely felt so refreshing to come across this song, I'm so happy with Shkodra Elektronike’s uniqueness and understanding of highlighting the very spirit that's been passed down through the Albanian generations, because this is it, it's the fire, it's the Zjerm, it's what's always brought us together through the centuries.

I said it once and i'll say it again the sooner the queer community drops the idea of the straight Boogeyman the better off we will all be. The sooner y'all accept that straight people can also be queer the easier it becomes to accept identities you don't understand.

Straight and queer are not opposite. They aren't contradictory. They aren't mutually exclusive. If you can accept that cis people can still be queer then straight people can to.
