i have a lot of identities so sometimes with how i go about my day they blur together a lil, but ill try to just differentiate the fox-like experiences! :D

- i often prefer to be on my own or only with one other person, when in groups i often find myself really shifty as an escape mechanism

- tiny spaces!! lil nooks and crannies!! if there is a small spot i can sit, you betcha im sitting there

- chewin on stuffs! i find that whenever i work or have to focus on something, i need to chew on something to keep my brain stimulated and to counter the teef shifts, so i always have gum on me

- zoomies. when i go for walks, sometimes ill just go and zoom around the local park just for the rush (which i then severely regret afterwards, im a disabled cane user...)

- yips and chirps! foxes make these lil "eep!" noises to communicate, and i find myself making those noises too (like when im confused or surprised or happy!)

theres a couple of dotpoints for ya!! once again, still not entiiirely certain those are purely fox things cause the lines are blurry for me sometimes, but theres a handful of my personal experiences!! :P

alright I’m back, what’s ur process behind characterization and concept making? (also thanks for the congratulations for ao3 pfffff)

HOOO BOY IM VERY GLAD YOU ASKED ok, ill talk about characterisation and then lead into concept making. I'll mostly be talking about 'It Was Only A Matter Of Time' cause obviously it's quick fresh on the mind in terms of what I did but if you're looking for advice, this can be applied more generally. Also I ended up rambling A LOT so I've put it under a read more. Hope this answers your question!

SO, in the case of the clones, characterisation is far more mealeable than with other fandoms where you have a lot more evidence and material to build up your understanding of a characters personality. With the clones, particualrly those like Thorn, Thire, Stone and of course Fox, theres very little canon basis, so for bulding up their characters, it was just a case of taking what fanon I liked and also constructing the personalities that would work best for the story I wanted to tell. Quick note, since this story ultimately ended up revolving around Fox, a lot of the characterisation for other characters was heaviliy informed by the questuon of "what personlity would best reveal a specific detail or invoking a specifoc reaction or relaisation in Fox" but of course as the story grew, the characters all grew into their own charactisation beyond that. That's the overview, To give you a lil more a concrete example behind this process, I'll use the Corrie Commanders.

So with the Corrie Commanders (Thorn, Thire, Stone, excluding Fox for now since he's a different story) I knew that, since they would most commonly be encountered as a trio, that they each have to have very disctinct Characterisations so it would be easy to differentiate them. So I started by assigning them a key characteristic. Eg.

Thorn: sarcastic and blunt, Thire: logical and practical, Stone: level headed.

Of course there would be other factors, but anytime i wrote them I would keep this key element in mind whenever i had them do anything. Then, something which was super fun to do, I assigned them very specific and individual 'character quirks' as I like to call them, which are essebtially just a couple other things that differntiate them and makes them unique as characters. Eg.

Thorn: he has a speech quirk which im VERY fond of wherin he doesnt pronounce the 'g' in any '-ing' which in my mind i interpret as a kind of drawl to his voice (you'll notice this in his dialogue, where Thorn will say stuff like "goin' to see" "instead of "going to see" etc) it makes me very happy to write, and ut jelps me figure out his specific 'voice' in my mind

Another example is Stone: His characteristic quirk is that he speaks very infrequently, but when he does, he always says something important. Again this is to refelect his character as someone who only speaks whne he feels like he has something worthwhile to say.

All of these tiny little considerations help build up a 'fully fledged character' so to speak, and it helps (hopefully lmao) them feel like distinct characters.

I've talked a lot but just another thing that helps characterisation (which ive mentioned before) is considering what 'role' they play within the larger story, and I do that ny mentally attaching little epithet to specific characters. For exmaple, Wolffes characater exists specifically to illuminate Fox's repressed violent tendencies, and also exists to wrench out the stuff that Fox refuses to confront or admit to himself. So to that measure, Wolffe himself is a very violent and very blunt character. He needs to be, to function for that purpose. Another example is Cody, who is 'The helpless older brother' Cody throughout the story has always been assocaited with reaching out and protecting Fox and trying to be there, but of course hes severly limited by how much help he can actually give. This ties into his character as a very earnest and protective character.

This is getting long so i might stop there for characterisation lmao, but in short, the process involves a bunch of decisons that cinsider "how does this character function within the story? How have their past experinces effected them? Where and What does this manifest as in their personality?"

OK ONTO CONCEPT.

I have a lot less to say abt this one lmao. Id already read a couple fics which dealt with the "what if Fox killed the Chancellor?" And i thought ut was interesting. Ill admit though, the concept of introducing Fives into it all mostly stemmed from frustration lmaoo. It all really started cause I got kind of frustrated with the fics that either demonised Fox or tried to downplay the significance of Fives' deaths. One of the reasons i decided to centre Fives and Foxs relationship as the focal point of the story was because I wanted to hit a medium that sufficiently acknowledged that Fives death was a tragedy which had a huge impact on those who loved him, but also that Fox's decision to kill him maybe wasn't done with pure malice.

That was the initial thinking, but the funny thing abt writing any story of any kind is that it inevitably develops a mind of its own. I didn't initially think sibling relationships and love was going to be such a core part of the story I was writing but sometimes the concept starts to mould itself into creation without you even being aware it's happening.

SO, in short: fun concepts come from finding something you don't like and going 'Why don't I like this? Can I make a story where I DO like this?'

But yeah! That's some thoughts about characterisation and concepts behind IWOAMOT specifically lmao but of course the stuff mentioned here can easily be applied to anything.

what are your thoughts on a scenario where it’s all of 4ggravate out and about or together and in some situation and the first person to realize Cyno is coming down with something is kaveh or alhaitham 👀. Like maybe Tighnari isn’t there yet…ooor maybe the three of them are out and are heading back to Tighnari later. Really anything works, just that Cyno is with his two friends…but not Tighnari at first. Maybe it’s not even a stomach sickness (or maybe it is 🤭) but maybe he’s just…droopy? Coming down with a bad cold. Fever, achey, not eating anything. But he’s not with nari. And we know how cyno is about appearances at this point. How would he handle waiting it out until nari is able to rejoin them? How would Kaveh and Alhaitham react? Is Tighnari protective over cyno once he is able to get him comfortable? Are Kaveh and Alhaitham surprised by the change from stoic “I’m fine just tired” Cyno too “nari plz lay down with me 🥺” Cyno? How does Cyno communicate he wants to go back to nari without coming off as weak?? What’s the breaking point?

and if he DOES have a stomach bug or food poisoning or is just generally nauseous and not eating, (or having frequent bathroom trips) I feel like that would complicate things even further. Maybe Tighnari is the one out and the three of them are at Cyno and naris house. He has the safety of being in his own home, and the other two are bickering (flirting) enough that he can kinda hide how much his stomach hurts, how close he feels to gagging…but not forever? Maybe he doesn’t throw up but eventually caves and hides in his room?(hugging the little fox none the less) But the embarrassment?? The frustration?? And ofc Kaveh and Alhaitham would surely have no idea how to proceed forward…or would they!! Idk! So many options

Just imagining, they're all going out together, and maybe Tighnari got caught up with some sort of responsibility beforehand, so he agrees to meet up with them later. Immediately Cyno is unusually,,, disappointed that Tighnari isn't going to be there from the get go. Like yeah it makes sense, Tighnari is his partner and he wants him there, otherwise he's gonna essentially be third-wheeling with Kaveh and Alhaitham. But it's not the end of the world, and he likes hanging out with Kaveh and Alhaitham, so his sudden unhappiness that Nari can't be there is definitely a little out of proportion.

I also LOVE that idea of it not being like a crazy stomach bug (at least from the get go... I can't help myself, he'll definitely get sicker later 👀) but he's just, as you described it, droopy. It's hard to pinpoint from an outside perspective if anything is actually wrong, because he's just got his walls up all the way. I could see Kaveh especially maybe being a lil' suspicious that something's wrong, but for the most part, Cyno is determinedly putting up appearances. But the tiny signs are there. He's not touching his food. He's not getting a kick out of Kaveh and Alhaitham's needless bickering. He hasn't cracked one bad joke all day. And yeah, Cyno's typically kind of quiet, but he's really really quiet.

I can't decide what I like more, the idea of Cyno just... reaching a breaking point and beginning to show small signs that he really wants Nari? Or Cyno holding out and just melting when Tighnari shows up?

Combine them, actually. He's slowly nearing a breaking point, but Tighnari does show up before he finally melts.

The signs start getting more obvious. He's finding places to sit down frequently. Like every time they stop for something, immediately Cyno finds a spot to sit down. The bathroom trips begin. He's excusing himself to the bathroom again and Kavehs like "?? I could've sworn he just went five minutes ago. ...and ten minutes before that." Cyno's checking the time repeatedly. Zoning out. He's keeping up appearances, but over all just looks... pale and tired.

Tighnari shows up. He holds his arms out for a hug because that's how he always greets Cyno, and Cyno immediately walks into Nari's arms and just... melts. Sinks into his embrace and hug Nari back tightly and bury his face in Nari's shoulder, and Tighnari's immediately like "okay, woah, you're seeking out touch, something's wrong" and then he hugs Cyno back and Cyno is warm in his arms.

Cyno doesn't even have to say anything before Tighnari is gently cupping his face and asking him "Do you want us to go home?" And Cyno just gives a small desperate nod because he's starting to really really not feel well and he wants to lie down and be alone.

Despite how well they know Cyno I can see Kaveh and Alhaitham's jaws being on the floor because holy crap that was a complete switch in Cyno's behaviour, but also?? Suddenly something is very visibly wrong, even though he's been acting almost completely fine?? Cyno proves yet again, he is excellent at putting on a front.

Bonus points if Cyno's body just gives in the moment he gets home and soon enough he's throwing up and crying and just having a really really bad time.

The second idea is also really good!! They're all at Cyno and Tighnari's place when Cyno starts to get sick, but he's hiding it completely. And he's managing, because he's in the comfort of his own home and Kaveh and Alhaitham are sufficiently distracted, but he just keeps getting worse. Maybe it does eventually lead to a point where he wants to hide away in his room, but now his absence is getting obvious. Maybe he's a teeny bit more comfortable about being vulnerable here, because he's in the comfort and privacy of his own home, so Kaveh and Alhaitham get to see a smidgen of his more vulnerable side. He doesn't admit how sick he feels, he's just brushing it off as he's really tired and going to lie down. But this sets off alarm bells because this is Cyno, if he's going to lie down in his room while they're over, something's gotta be really wrong. Maybe they text or even call Tighnari and is like "hey so maybe you should get over here, we think something might be wrong with Cyno?"

I also, I get older brother energy from Kaveh, I feel like he'd mother-hen Cyno a bit if he caught on that something was actually really wrong.

Also holy crap this post is getting out of hand I should stop rambling, but I'm likely gonna come back to these ideas because as you can see, the inspiration has been AWOKEN-

I was wondering what kind of medieval/mystic being our Ateez boyfriends might be and here are my thoughts:

1. Hongjoong: Fairy. A garden fairy to be exact. Like LOOK at his tiny ass (we're the same height) HE'S SO SMOL (He's actually pretty tall) HOW CUTE! (Well that's true.)

Also I can imagine him fly around in the garden perfecting the aesthetics of the place. And no, he'll not keep some basic ass fancy grass, nuh uh, natural vegetation and grass😌

2. Seonghwa: a Heavenly Nymph. Bro is gorgeous beyond words. His beauty is so sublime he can NEVER be just a mere earthly being. He'd be the most beautiful nymphs of all but equally as deadly. Crpss him and you might just lose a limb.

Yeosang: Forest Elf. Okay hear me out. LONG BLOND HAIR YEOSANG. AND WE ALL KNOW HOW BEAUTIFUL THE COLOUR GREEN LOOKS ON HIM. But yes he seems like he'll be the forest protector elf. (Maybe Hongjoong and Yeosang play together idk)

4. Yunho: Dragon. Bro is dragon coded. Like he's SO dragon. Ouu but he'll ne such a sweet dragon tho. Maybe he let's all the forest creatures sleep near him during chilly winters since he naturally exudes warmth.

5. Woosan: Nine Tail Foxes. They're a pair. Do not separate. I'm thinking Wooyoung would be the Nine Tailed fox that goes "Ohhh you look delicious. I wonder what you taste like!" And San would be like "Wooyo we talked about not scaring random travellers for fun anymore." T~T The Yin-Yang Foxies

6. Minki: The mountain diety. He's the one in charge of the forest that the boys live in. Though he's just a babie!:(( like one day a random bunny will he minding his business when he comes across Mountain diety Mingi yapping about his problems to a sympathetic Seonghwa while pouting.

7. Jongho: Moon Spirit. He descends down to the forest at night to sing to all the creatures. The animals sometimes bring him gifts like leaves and shiny pebbles. Has kept them all in a secure box back home.

Of course there are some calm one's but also in this universe - you cant get rid of them bad or good .(Sorry not sorry Silas.) Maybe if he can build an actual relationship with one of the ghsots maybe they can be actually pretty helpful in his work.

I gave him wrath as a sin because I think pretty much by continues brain-washing from Seance would make him pretty resentful to North and all that and make him in the end developed that Wrath quirk.

And I know I drew him already as gijinka with his own outfit and all - so to a bit push away from that I gave him outfit much closer to his pokemon form as a proper gijinka ;;

Sometimes when we both are about to fall asleep they just, make lil noises.

I'll always fall asleep first obviously I'll nap like a cat.

It's always just tiny hums, I love going to sleep hearing them hum to them self.

Recently things haven't been 10/10 amazing whatever, just having some difficult conversations that sorta needed to be had regarding emotions but that's private.

Glad I get to have them forms of conversation with someone so willing to listen to where I'm coming from. It does worry me sometimes because of how eager/willing they are to just take my side on things if I don't like someone.

But they never seem to mind. Im glad they think of my word so highly. I just hope they don't ever take it to far and can't see if I'm ever clearly in the wrong.

I doubt they will, if anything they seem to help me not be as pissy.

They stand up for for me to, in sometimes silly situations. Down to just Roblox roleplays where some idiots trolling and my partner has a go at them. It's silly.

Star does so much for me, I struggle with vocalizing it alot. Other than just saying 'i love you' lots but that won't ever be enough. Theirs no possible way for me to express how much I do genuinely care and love my partner. Theirs to much love to even put into words.

You stared in awe as the tall, quiet forward player easily maneuvered the ball into a trap in midair before striking it with his other leg, sending the ball piercing across the field and directly into the goal, all within the blink of an eye.

“Hello? Earth to (Y/N)? Sayuri, sending radio waves to (Y/N)!” the teasing voice pulled you out of your trance, but your eyes remained glued to the white-haired boy who nonchalantly received shoulder claps and fist bumps from his fellow teammates.

You blinked once, twice as the field began to reset before turning to your best friend standing beside you, waggling her fingers this way and that to try and get your attention.

“Yeah— sorry, what did you say?” You heard the squeals and cheers of dozens of fangirls lined up on the sidelines of the field, screaming the name of the boy that was just inaudible to you.

“I saiiiid... isn’t that white-haired boy just adorable? He’s a prodigy at soccer, too!” she swooned as the boy raised his hand in a miniscule wave at a mob of fans, his expression confused, and even... uncomfortable?

"Sorry," a tiny voice mumbled. And then all of sudden, the boy was lowering himself onto the ground next to you, hovering directly over your face.

And then you were met with those frosty cyan eyes once again, yet this time they were directly above you, examining your face with curiosity.

“Does it still hurt?” he tilted his head this way and that, peering into your eyes, your nose, your face, everywhere. “That was one of my best kicks. Shame it got wasted on a cute face.”

As if your cheeks weren’t red enough from the ball to the face, they flushed an even deeper shade of crimson. “C-cute?”

After blinking a few times, the boy above you got up onto his feet, extending a hand down to you. You gingerly placed your hand into his as he pulled you up with surprising ease. “Sorry again. I’m Nagi Seishiro.”

Still blushing profusely, you brushed off bits of grass from your damp shirt. “I-it’s okay... I’m (Y/N) (L/N)...” You noticed the crowd of boys on the field shouting and waving in impatience. “You should go. Thank you for checking up on me.”

Furrowing his brow, Nagi looked over his shoulder at the rowdy soccer players remaining on the field before turning back to you. It was then that you noticed just how tall he was— your eyes were nearly level with his chest.

“I was... actually just trying to get the ball back.” The boy raised the grass-covered soccer ball in his hand with a blank stare.

An arrow pierced directly through your heart. Ouch.

Trying not to look too disappointed, you gave a close-eyed grin, rubbing your neck. “Ahh, of course, of course!” You opened your eyes, staring directly into his enchanting teal ones once again. “Thank you either way, though.”

He blinked once, twice. “I’m just kidding. I don’t usually check up on just anyone. Sorry about your face.” The boy nodded curtly before jogging away, tossing the ball back onto the field in a perfect arc to the uproar of his teammates.

Heaving an exasperated sigh, you plopped onto the ground once again, reaching to pull out your phone to check the time.

But when you patted your pocket, you found it empty.

You cursed under your breath as you searched the area for your phone, wondering if it had flown away somewhere during your fall.

“Aha!” your phone was just a few feet away from you and you crawled over to retrieve it. You flipped it over to find... it was already turned on?
