I dunno who needs to hear this, but don’t play the ‘take the pills’ ending of My Eyes Deceive first. That’s the bad ending- you want the ‘don’t take the pills’ one (the ‘good’ ending) first so it’s put into perspective how much your choice affected the MC. Furthermore, that’s not what the storytelling intended. If you get the good ending first, the story is better explained- the twist of the bad ending feels less out of the blue. In the good ending, you get hints and implications that start to signal what’s really going on, that leads to a sense of discomfort the game doesn’t really confirm nor deny. The bad ending’s job is to confirm it. The bad ending shows you that ‘yes, you’re right, this is exactly as fucked up as you think, and it can be even worse.’ If you do the good ending first, THEN the bad one after, the storytelling is so much better paced, so much more gut-wrenching to the viewer. Please, suffer through this story the right way.

Skz's first love & first time (Maknae Line)

First love - his first love was actually a very good experience i'm seeing it left some sort of mark on him. The best way i can explain this is that it showed him fated love and destiny exists. I can see him still seeking that, years later. It in a way set a standard for him. Even if a bit unrealistic or even delusional to some. Tbh idk if this was really some sort of fated meeting or if he just perceived it that way, but it made him a bit into a hopeless romantic, but not the way hyunjin is but more like a teen girl that loves reading fantasy romance books or something like that. Anyways - as for the person that was his first love im seeing them being very troubled actually. Probably depressed, with anxiety and maybe even other more serious mental issues. I think he saw a mutual in that, yk how people feel attracted to people similar to them. Im seeing that here. He saw this person embodying something he saw in himself, and it made him feel like theres divinity at play. I see them being in one friend group and i think this took place during his school years, liek maybe in middle school, when he was just starting out with puberty and into this teenager angst phase. And i don't really see them being an item, but i also dont see them just friends maybe there was some ambiguous flirting and hints etc.

First time - omg ok this was a dark one. I don't know if this is about real sex or just sexual experiences but i think it happened when he was pretty young, like just starting out with teenaging. And i think it was a pretty weird experience...either with a family memeber, or someone really close that felt like family. And by that i mean maybe a cousin, or a child of a vlowe family friend he grew up with, a neughbor kid he grew up with. So definitely someone his age, and it seems consensual, but also a bit traumatic. It seems like they were both on board to just try some things out and see where it goes. Im not seeing any feelings there whatsoever its purely "business". And i think after that he felt pretty empty and confused, its a very nasty feeling i dont even know how to explain. Liek when ur on a roller coaster and ur rifing up and have such strong expectations and then the drop happens and you build so much anticipation but when you drop its really dissapointing. The drop in ur stomach feels bigger than the actual rollercoaster drop - and ur left feeling a bit betrayed, dissapointed, empty & lied to. I think it was similar for him. And i think the lack of boundaries this encounter had - set him up for overcompensation later but at the same time a tendency to be too loose. Im seeing two polar opposites and this experience setting the tone for his future view on sex etc.

First love - his first love experience doesn't seem very memorable or interesting. It was one of his friends, probably was when he was very young, like elementary school or late kindergarden. This person didn't reciprocate his feelings and didn't really pay much attention to him🥲 but that was fine somehow i don't really see him being all that hurt by that, and i do see him striving for their attention and trying to go after them. I think despite being in the same friend group they were more like class mates and didn't really have much to do with each other one on one.

First time - ehm ok, so this one is also a bit weird, if i go solely based on the cards i would say his first time was with an escort?👁️👁️ but im having a difficult time believing that so im gonna dig a bit deeper here. What im sewing is that he was really feeling himself, being a bit cocky and full of himself, im also seeing him being really really horny and just having a very high libido. Im not seeing him having any emotional connection to the person he was with and im seeing a bit if...coldness? Ugh idk how to explain it. Its like he saw that person, liked them and is liek i got to have that. Thats the one. But im not seeing any emotions in there, more like ambition and strive and like he's on a hunt, trying to prove something. And as for the escort thing, i think this could be more of a situation where the person is a gold digger? Or does it for status or to suck off money of him? Social climber? Something like that. And i think to seduce them he did indeed spend some on them. As for the sex itself i don't think it was all that hot, and im not sure either if them came? Which is a bit weird cuz felix seem to be left with a really hot impression after the deed and thinks very well of himself? So maybe the person he was with didn't come? Im seeing something like "its ok cuz at least i got the coin."

Seungmin

First love - this energy here makes me think he may not have had a first love yet. And this may be something thats worrying him and making him stay awake at might sometime. Or has in the past. I think he has thought if the problem is in him. But yeah thats all im getting about the topic sadly.

First time - i think his first time was in a loving healthy relationship. And i think the first time in itself was a very pleasant snd living experience. The person he was with seems very confused and directionless, not knowing or seeing anything thats happeing arount them. Being clueless. Seungmin on the other hand seems very suspicious of them and has them under a magnifying glass not trusting them cuz their moves to him make no sense. He cant grasp that their confusion is being for real. This person on the other hand does seem to be indeed so deluded and clueless and is very comfortable in the relationship, thinking everything is fine, being very calm and grounded into it, very nurturing and pouring a lot into seungmin. He's suspicious of that on the other side. Idk what the suspicion is about tho.

I.N

First love - i.n's first live seems to be a soulmate. They seem to have been in a relationship that was divinely guided with a purpose. This person seems very good tbh. Very pure and genuine in their feelings for him. He on the other side seems unsure and cold. He doesnt know what to do with his feelings how to handle them how to handle the relationship and i think overall he was a bit difficult at least in the beginning (as most men with no or little experience are). I feel like his partner was very patient tho and thankfully so, it seems their relationship did go pretty smoothly, despite some obstacles. It was a long and fulfilling relationship that brought both of them to growth.

First time - his first time was probably before this relationship as he seems even more immature in these cards. I think he was in this growing up teen depression angsty phase most of us go through, im seeing lots of unchanelled anger, especially at himself but also at the world. As for his first time im seeing him actually being a bit unsure if he should ir not, and who it should be with - but he ends up doing it with a wealthy babe, probably a bit older than him, a bit mire mature, not a cougar tho just a more mature and established woman that likes to enjoy some "fresh meat" from time to time (i heard it that way don't judge me👁️👁️). The sex in itself was nothing spectacular i think if anything it just served him as bragging content, nothing else.

My personal thoughts and issues with Sammy Lawrences characterization in Dreams Come to Life

little disclaimer im obviously gonna be pretty negative in this so if you like the books good for you!! i just want to put my thoughts on the matter out there its just some silly indie horror game book and i wouldnt take others opinions TOO seriously lol also spoilers for dctl of course

also another little edit - a majority of this was written before the graphic novel came out,, not like that changes anything rlly just yk remember im exclusively talking about the original novel here

Lets start with the most obvious point first - the racism/misogyny

The idea that Sammy's racist and misogynistic mainly stems from two parts from the book - the part where Sammy refers to Tom by his first name instead of "Mr Connor" to which Tom replies quote "Not used to giving someone like me respect?" and the part where he refers to Abby by her first name with Buddy directly stating how he wonders if this could mean Sammy has some sort of bigoted views.

Now of course he does consider if this is just a habit of his, but it is pretty unclear if that's the case. This weirdly vague and ambiguous way of writing a fan favorite character to be racist and misogynistic is just generally very weird to me. Before anyone tells me I am aware of the fact a former kindly beast member claimed that Toms race had nothing to do with it and Sammy just said that because he's a repairman or whatever, but that still doesn't remotely change the fact that it can easily be read as Sammy being racist.

(Also even in said screenshot they said how could be easily interpreted as that. Also they didn't even write the book obviously so that whole point just falls flat.)

To be fair, there is a line from Buddys first encounter with Sammy in which he also refers to Joey by first name, which could imply Buddys other conclusion was correct and that its just a habit of his.

However, I'd argue this small details pretty easy to miss (even I almost forgot about it while writing this) especially considering the only other people he refers to by any sort of name was Tom and Abby. That paired with the other two scene previously stated still make this very easy to misinterpret and even considering this, very confusing on if Sammy was written with the intention of him being racist. Also Sammys bigotry in this book being conflicted by literally one word kinda speaks for itself. It's just super weird and definitely should have been handled better. If you don't know how to write topics like this with the amount of care they deserve then you don't need to write them. On another note, Sammy being racist or misogynistic just wouldn't affect the story or world building in any sort of meaningful way. Whether he was supposed to be bigoted or not, it has no bearing on the story or characters. Any time It's even slightly implied this could affect someone it's just super underdeveloped which makes this whole thing just feel completely pointless and unnecessary. It really does just come off like it was just thrown in there to "make it more realistic to the time period" instead of working it into the story in any meaningful way that actually works, or any sort of commentary on that sorta thing other than just "racism and misogyny exist".

On a related note, I saw someone speak out about how they interpreted specifically the scene with Tom to be intended not to show that Sammy's racist, but to show how Tom would assume that it was about his race considering he's of course a black man in the 1940s and has clearly faced discrimination over that before. I could almost see how that could be perceived, but that along with the part with Abby really makes me contemplate if that was really the intention behind that scene. Also, as I said before, it isn't really expanded on how that would affect Tom. I get that that could just be because Tom is supposed to be more of a rude abrasive kinda guy, I'm not expecting him to cry over it or something. I just feel it should have either been a bit more developed on, or not been there at all. I'm all for subtly, I love how the subtle misogyny is shown in BatIM with the Alice angel merchandise not selling as well as other products, but if that's what they were going for I think this was a bad way of doing it. If you wanted to portray how this kind of bigotry affects people, maybe choosing the rude asshole character who doesn't really seem to give a shit wasn't really the best idea. (Also who's in the games implied to be classist but that's a whole other conversation) Sorry for the little detour away from discussing just Sammy, I just felt it was important since I do get where that point was coming from, I just still feel like the execution of it all was FAR from perfect.

Also overall the idea that Sammy would be racist or misogynistic is just awfully misunderstanding Sammys character and it just really fails at what its trying to do. Sammy is shown to have had a genuinely strong relationship with Susie (whether you interpret it as romantic or not) and never shown to have seen women as less than, quite the opposite actually. I saw someone say Sammy being bigoted doesn't make sense because "he doesn't respect anybody" and I heavily disagree. I think it doesn't work because he does care so much about people. In the cycle Sammy isn't shown to be selfish at all, like he's not just trying to free himself but also others (albeit through sacrificing Henry, and even then describes that as seeming "cruel"). You know it's "he will set us free". Whether he himself knows or not, Sammy does care about people deeply so him being bigoted just really doesn't work at all.

I just generally thought the topic of discrimination was handled pretty bad. I could go on and on about this subject alone, but hopefully I was able to get my point across.

Now with that out of the way I can discuss just the general mischaracterization and demonization of Sammys character

This obviously being a more broad subject makes it a little difficult to start so let me just start with this- I believe that Sammys character get heavily dumbed down to just being an asshole. I of course have no problem with Sammy being a bit of a dick considering the sort of sarcastic tone he's shown to have had in certain audio logs, but the problem arises when that is practically all he is shown to be. Looking through every scene with him, all he ever did was just be super rude to everyone and eventually go insane and kill people and talk about worshiping Bendy or whatever with little depth. This, in my opinion, makes him both weak as a character and antagonist. I mean, Buddy only first met Sammy the DAY he got infected by the ink. He never even knew what Sammy was like before that incident which REALLY makes the line "I just know that Sammy isn't Sammy anymore" make no sense. Buddy never knew Sammy, he only knew the one dimensional character we got in Dreams Come to Life.

After looking through all of Sammys characterization outside the novels I can clearly deduce that Sammy was never even explicitly the sort of condescending asshole hes shown to be in Dreams Come to Life, but was just a bit blunt and stern due to the stress of working at the studio. I get that some people just chock up his behavior to the fact that he had been drinking ink at the time or whatever, but again the fact we're never shown how he was before that just makes this feel like overall bad writing to me. It just feels like a very poor attempt at writing Sammy that lacks any sort of nuance his character was shown to have. Characters have intended purposes, and I believe Sammys was to display a character who was so overworked it drove him to insanity. Part of the reason he even worships Bendy is just because the unhealthy hours he would spend working forced him to have to see his stupid face everywhere, not the whole ink addiction thing the book goes with. It's one thing to make him unnecessarily rude, but the thing is that they never really deviate from him being just that, which just left his character feeling very flat and lackluster to me. Buddy being an "unreliable narrator" doesn't excuse this both because Buddy only states that he sometimes forgets the order of events, not the actual events themselves, and, as I said before, it never deviates from this view of Sammy. I don't even think Buddy was supposed to be an "unreliable narrator" in that way as I've heard people excuse this for. If all of Sammys mischaracterization was because of that, than like half of the book would just be Buddy completely making shit up, which clearly isn't the case. The book just genuinely tries to portray Sammy in some of the worst light ever.

All that along with the the whole implied bigotry thing I just discussed really makes it seem like they tried dehumanizing Sammy as much as possible, which really goes against one of the core messages of BatIM. Sammy just being some asshole who got addicted to ink and went crazy because of it is FAR less interesting or emotionally compelling than him being an abused overworked employee and a prime example of what working at the studio can do to someone. Stripping him of that in favor of making it that he's always just been a total dick just completely misses a lot of the point of Sammys character and even BatIM as a whole. It's not just a game about "ooh scary ink" or whatever, it's also a game about corporate greed, capitalism and obviously how big corporations abuse and manipulate their minimum wage workers. And that's what Sammy is. He's not "evil" he's just a victim of a highly unhealthy work environment. Sammy being overworked to death (literally) is something that is barely, if at all, developed on in the book weirdly enough, despite being a very interesting part of his character that they had every opportunity to explore. It feels almost like they explicitly tried making Sammy so unsympathetic so he could be a more "evil" antagonist which, in turn, makes him a very poorly written antagonist lacking depth and completely missing anything that made his character so interesting. Again they just took Sammy being a bit irritable and sarcastic and wrote him as being a genuinely bad person, which really bugs me for sorta personal reason I'll get into in this next section.

Why this matters (to me)

I feel its of importance that I discuss how writing an implied mentally ill/neurodivergent character in such a demonizing way can, whether intentional or not, come off as ableist. TO MAKE THIS CLEAR I am NOT stating Adrienne Kress is ableist. This is overall just a much larger issue in general that definitely could have a discussion of it's own. However I will be briefly talking about it since it does unfortunately relate to dreams come to life.

As I said before, Sammy is a victim. Yes, he's still a morally grey character who generally does bad things with good intentions, but hes still a character. The way Sammy is shown to act and have acted in the past is very likely because he was mentally ill and possibly autistic. Taking an actually nuanced character like that who was clearly just extremely mentally unwell and writing it that he's some evil irredeemable asshole has always just rubbed me the wrong way. As an autistic person myself, I've always kinda had issues with regulating my emotions and coming off as "too blunt", so seeing a character who also has those traits be warped into being a "bad person" just. Really sucks.

When I read Dreams Come to Life, I had always sorta read Buddy as being autistic, all though this coding could have been unintentional. For instance, he's shown to not fully get some social cues and mentions feeling like people would kinda talk down to him for not getting certain things. This being the case really confused me for a bit as to why Sammy was demonized for also displaying traits of autism until it finally hit me as to why that is. It's likely because Sammy shows symptoms that are unfortunately far more stigmatized by society. Lack of emotional/impulse control can obviously lead to someone being more prone to lashing out than other people would, and I hate how just in general people or even characters who do that are labeled as "bad people" since that clearly isn't true. Again, he's not evil or whatever, he's just extremely stressed and overworked. That's all it ever was.

Sorry for getting a bit personal, in case it wasn't obvious I'm just very passionate about this character (and franchise in general) and just wanted to discuss how I personally perceived certain things. I'm sure I wasn't supposed to read into it THIS much and I know I'm probably stretching with this. Again, I VERY HIGHLY doubt Adrienne Kress intended for Sammys writing to be read as ableist, just felt like getting my thoughts out there (regardless of how insane I probably sound)

Conclusion

To sum it all up, I just found Sammy character to be heavily flanderized and lacking a lot of the things that I personally loved so much about him, as well as finding the way bigotry was portrayed to be very nothing. It just overall didn't build on what we know about Sammys character in game in any interesting way, at least to me. Despite how long this was, I honestly don't really mind people who enjoy the books, this wasn't some personal dig on anyone of course lol. Hell, I'm even friends with some people who like Dreams Come to Life!! I've tried putting different perspectives into writing this, and I've obviously concluded that this, on top of just a bunch of general issues with the book, have just made me personally unable to like it. I'm fine with people liking the books, however I do wish people would actually criticize them more than they do. i’m sure cam, as a creator of content, didn’t want to kill wayne because he was just so damn popular. too many directions he could take his character. so many things to mock. so versatile. but cam, the regular person, hated wayne. he couldn’t tolerate him or his pranks, and that one with the monokidney kid was tufar (haha get it). he suddenly found an excuse. a way he could kill wayne. and he took that chance, and patched up wayne right after. after all, he still had so much more pranking to do.

talking to justin. pranking justin. it was all such a mistake. a mistake that cost him his life. his ego gets fucked, but now he’s on justin’s radar. i’m sure wayne would’ve been perfectly safe if he didn’t prank justin that day. he would’ve kidnapped some other schmuck and moved on with his life. if life was a game, pranking justin would’ve been the move that cost him the entire game. (i’m not great at analogies, ok?)

and the whole justin situation, we don’t know much about it. we don’t know how exactly he makes the clones, we don’t know why he didn’t just turn them all into clones immediately after capture, we don’t even know what the “retired” characters have been through down with justin. wayne could’ve just been sitting there for god knows how long, or he could’ve been tortured from hell and back. for all we know, it could be so much worse than that. so. much. worse.

it really makes me wonder: was dying back with justin some sort of a reprieve for him? an end to all the brutal torture that was his life as one of justin’s captives? was he happy when he died? happy that he was free of justin and all the shit he was forced to endure?

his life was hell. then that night robin showed up, it wasn’t. hell was over. his life was over. but then he was brought back. his soul was dragged back to his body, back to hell. he’s back.

i get the ending and it’s alright, but also seems anticlimactic. like cam shows up and tells justin “dude you’re a fictional made up character on the internet you’re already immortal 💀” and justin’s like “oh fr then ig i’ll stop” which isn’t that satisfying at all. i don’t like that ending the discord’s ending (ask me for an invite link if ur interested in the server, we’re all very cool) is much better since yk. it has actual character development.

personally? i don’t like this ending much and i am unsatisfied. it might be better if he actually posts it but i still don’t like it much. if only…….i finished the goddamn animation……..ughhh

favourite characters !

sirius black: has been my favourite marauders era character since i got into the fandom. mostly because i can relate to his family dynamics and also his relationship dynamics. my favourite headcanons for him is that he played a beater for quidditch, his favourite subjects were care of magical creatures and arithmancy, he is demisexual and gay, he braids a rat tail into his hair, first tattoo was a pair of antlers on his ankle (james has a complimentary dog paw on his ankle). he got it when he was 14 and the placement was so that his parents couldn't easily see it. he also loves mechanical engineering. has loads of muggle textbooks about car engines and bike engines because he's just fascinated by how they don't need magic to move.

barty crouch jr: again, i relate to his familial relationships. the way he thinks about his father portrayed by the fandom and also how he behaved in canon reflects A LOT about who i used to be (and who im trying not to be). i also really love his character because of how flexible he is. like, there are so many different variations of barty i love it. my favourite headcanons is that he is a ravenclaw, he is demiromantic and asexual (although i also love the freakazoid version of him dearly). i believe he regretted what he did to frank and alice and in a way, a stupidly fucked up way, him treating neville with all that kindness was him trying to make up for it (even if he didnt consciously admit it). i love how he's viewed as being really sensitive but also extremely headstrong and also how dearly he loves his friends. i just love how complicated he is. i haven't thought much about him as a student like i have with sirius, instead (sounding like a broken record here) i just love to see how he handles different dynamics with people

remus lupin: he's just as complex as every other character and while he appears to be a rule follower he definitely has an air of moral ambiguity that not a lot of people explore. just look at canon remus again and tell me that man isn't someone who has conflicting morals. to me, he's like a less confident version of light yagami if that makes sense. also...not as much of a misogynistic asshole. okay that's a lame analogy but i understand what im saying and if you don't toughies for you. and then there's also fanon remus (LOML) corduroys, scuffed doc martens, record players, old books, mars bars, gay panic, etc etc. you get the picture.

the black chara thats the emotional support for a white chara (andys whole thing is that he tells bad puns to rain to cheer her up - his one n only reason for existence is the do wtvr is best for rain is his literally a black chara that exists to prop up n support a white chara)

white feminism/white tears (how rain centers her own pain over the pain she caused andy, rain victimizes herself n openly argues w andy for turning on her n aligning himself w wy even tho she left him first - ofc they work thru this at the end but yk)

i rlly feel like andy has feelings for rain but hes been ‘brother zoned’ n his line abt ‘u can finally see me as a adult’ is what solidified that for me but i do think a mix of ableism n racism r at play there (black man being infantilized by the white woman he has feelings for bc of his blackness n mental (programming???) disability)

white savorism - inb4 rain ran back to andy at the end of the movie andy depended on rain for survival (needing help to fend off attackers at the start of the movie, rain constantly stepped in n defended andy against the anti-synth bigot which could be read as a metaphor for racism here, but its rain using her privilege as a flesh person (again metaphor for racism n ableism here) to constantly save andy that props her up as the Good Person even tho shes willing to use n abandon him)

andy doesnt rlly have any agency- he does what he feels whats best for rain (black chara used to prop up white chara) gets his agency overridden (by another white chara rook n mu/th/ur) n then makes the switch back to supporting rain (sure he chooses to let rain take the module out but yk plot convenience- they need the black man to sacrifice his life to save the white woman)

like dont get me wrong its great to have a black n disabled chara on screen n its great that he gets to be morally ambiguous (my personal fave) n i like that andy n rain have a complicated messy relationship n they hurt each other (like ppl do) but yk … hard not to notice some of this stuff yk

n i do think its on purpose bc synths r seen as not human/subhuman in the same way poc n neurodivergent ppl r (esp for his lack of empathy n emotions) hes viewed as inherently dangerous (like men of color r viewed as being innately violent n aggressive n mentally ill ppl r seen as violent n unpredictable)

rains decision to leave him behind bc hes “not rlly human bc he doesnt actually feel” is a good metaphor n representation for how poc r used as stepping stones n viewed as not “real” ppl by white ppl n the same can be said for neurodivergent ppl esp mentally disabled ppl rain seems to be fulfilled by andy needing her but is willing to leave him behind the moment including him becomes a hinder ace to her (n ofc its fixed in the end- but i like synths being a more obvious metaphor for ppl who r dehumanized in society aliens have largely been a white cast franchise so taking the narrative of the bigotry that synths face in the universe n having that applied to a synth that is black n disabled is great n i rlly like that the bigotry is portrayed in those subtle ways on screen like andys lack of agency n being used as a literal prop for the white woman by literally existing to support her)

Thinking about esmp gods. i feel like theres approximately three 'generations' of gods that have existed on the server: the titans, from pix' season two, which included lizzie and jimmy's mother (who canonically wasnt a god but was blessed by them but shhhh. we can do whatever we like forever)

but anyways, next up after the titans were the old gods, a generation that lasted for thousands of years, and included both the seablings and aeor and exor. they are two slightly different kind of pantheons though. at the time the oceans and the land were very very separate, and so while aeor and his peers fell in an attempt to defeat exor, the seablings weren't exactly. involved. if they knew they were gods at all at the time!

the events of the rapture unfortunately did kill or permanently put to rest the deer gods alongside the rest of their pantheon, and without them being able to prove their existence, belief in them faded and they lost any power to interact with the world. since the seablings took more physical forms and resided in the oceans rather than their own godly plane, they run no risk of fading into nothingness by lack of belief, however the rapture did wipe their memories yk the drill.

the third generation of gods, however, was generated by the rapture or after it. santa pearla was 'canonised' after dying with her empire, and has been the goddess of harvest and fertility ever since. god joel became a god within his lifetime through. ambiguous means that he wont share. in order to remain by lizzies side, even if she never remembers him, at least he'll be there. i think there were other gods created by similar means to like. fill out the pantheon since joel does imply in his series that there are other gods besides him and pearl. so uh yeah, if the seablings ever remember, they would be kinda part of two generations as part of the second generation of gods AND still around for the third.

Shanks — as of rn i dont influence the story tbh...... we'll have to re-address this in a decade when we get more red-haired pirates and after shanks dies KJHSDFJKHB but for now im just kinda lingering whenever theres rhp moments. my first appearance is the luffy wanted poster scene and i make a lil comment to mihawk (smthn like "always lovely to see you hawk-eyes" yk ambiguous enough), then im in the bg during the bit where rockstar calls shanks, im missing during marineford and then i show up during whitebeard/ace's funeral and im consistently w the red-haired pirates from then on. during the wano bit i finally get another line agreeing w lime juice after he mentions barto, then a passing goodbye to marco. im shown towards the side of the bar scene in elbaf reading a book and then im in the big wide-shot as theyre approaching the red force; the one "big" change is that im the one who hands the info on kidd off to shanks (bc that is Technically my official job as communications officer) and hongo and i have a tiny exchange. oda also talks abt me a bit in an sbs, he says im the only officer who hasnt met luffy and mentions im from a new world island, n says i joined the crew five yrs prior to the present

Kuroo — another one where i have minimal impact on the canon LOL but he and i r coworkers to lovers soooooo i only show up at the very end!!! i think im a recurring character in the final timeskip match chapters, i appear four or five times w the final time being w kuroo's appearance and described as his colleague. maybe later on theres an extra sketch of us grabbing a drink in our work uniforms and it sparks hella shippers

💞: Aside from with your f/o, who else would you commonly be shipped with? Why?

Shanks — i think any of the other red-haired officers is common but lime juice is the go-to for me simply bc of that one interaction in wano LMFAOOOOOOOO and then hongo later on for the elbaf interaction pfft. beckman is also a regular name in a "pair the spares" sense but icl i dont think hes ever spoken to me in canon (simply bc i do not have much screentime) & mihawk is also Somewhat up there again be of my one line. OH AND MARCO..... i think when he leaves the ship after wano he passes me and does an ambiguous hug/hand to the arm thing that has ppl like wtf was that 🫣

Kuroo — i think kenma bc im shown in the bg of a few of his shots!!! and i think theres a panel or two of me interacting w ushijima so theres a few instances of that...... theres like one super dedicated crackshipper of me and iwa LOL

Shanks — ohhhh a mix.... i think whenever im involved its either relatively low-key fluff or a super in-depth character deep-dive. im often used as a catalyst for mishanks or shuggy or any manner of other m/m ships tho which means ig its angst for shuvi 😔

Kuroo — def fluff, but also a bit of angst. in a similar light a lot of fics im in have me being a catalyst specifically for kuroken, and there r probs just as many poly fics as there are of just me n kuroo, but by n large the Actual shipfics are cutesy work romance vibes

💌: How would your dynamic be portrayed? What might people focus on most? Any misconceptions?

Shanks — honestly the dynamic is varying bc theres just not much content of me or us interacting as of yet, just the tiniest bit of banter and then a very professional back n forth. shanks tends to be portrayed as Down Bad in ships so i think that is accurate, but i do think people generally overemphasize the captain/subordinate thing and a lot of the nuance wrt the nature of my joining the crew is not considered fully until my full backstory is discussed

Kuroo — sjhdfusbfv fuckboy kuroo my beloathed....... but i feel its not That bad. idk our dynamic is soooo Normal obvi its a v subtle ship/only vaguely hinted at so the specifics of our strangers-to-friends-to-lovers slow burn is not known,,,,,, i think generally the dynamic is far faster and not drawn out in fanon. people focus more on the working together, boss/secretary vibe (when i rlly quit my job right as we get together rip) and write us as having a very nuclear family i think.

he. literally has trauma team platinum insurance plans on his pets but not himself ffs

also he drives a motorcycle instead of a car bc he wants the least amount of ppl injured as possible if there's an accident

he'd prefer to be non-lethal where he can on some missions where things are more ambiguous, but if it's like,, "get this thing from these people who have literally forced cyberware into random bystanders because funny" (in game comcept btw ty maelstrom) bro would not give a damn

he's not about to sit there and make ppl suffer for their crimes or whatever but (pistol boop) removed (throws knife) removed

Orin Scrivello, DDS <3 my beautiful bbg who has never done anything wrong in his life except for literally everything he did. Worst guy ever. I don’t know how many queer awakenings one person can have but I was definitely already trans and bi when I saw Orin for the first(?*) time last year, and now, well now im the same but im more pretentious about it and I own a leather jacket. Yeah I’ll sometimes just remove the character from this character to appease the brain demons. Idk i just like thinkin. Also… ALSO!..
