If anyone i date says they find autism sexy I'm getting a restraining order
anyway this is what I mean when I say that certain disorders being made quirky and memeable does not help with destigmatisation. people can say “autistic cat girls make the world go round” and then turn around and say “[common autistic trait] makes you evil btw”. and don’t see anything bad about that. they’re totally not ableist! they said it right there! they find autism sexy! hell world

Speaking as someone who's been outed many, many times, by both "allies" and homo/transphobes, some of yall are way too comfortable sharing other peoples' queer identities.
"But what if I'm trying to be funny?" Doesn't matter.
"But what if I'm an ally?" Doesn't matter
"But what if the person I'm talking to is an ally?" Doesn't matter.
"But what if I'm queer?" Doesn't matter
"But what if the person I'm talking to is queer?" Doesn't matter.
"But what if the person I'm talking about is a stranger?" Doesn't matter.
"But what if it's really obvious?" First of all, ew. Second of all, Doesn't matter.
"But what if they didn't come out to me, I just figured it out on my own?" Doesn't matter.
"But what if they're getting misgendered?" It's just as easy to say 'actually she's a girl' as it is to say 'actually she's transgender and uses she/her'. If that person is pretransition, it's also easy to just bite your tongue and not say anything.
Unless that person has explicitly given you permission to share that information, you DON'T. No matter how certain you are that everyone is accepting, no matter how noble your intentions, it's not your information to share. Getting clocked sucks, getting outed sucks, and they're both an invasion of privacy no matter who's doing it.

no youre right op !! and its about time someone said it !
dare i say.....people are getting a little too comfortable being like "they're autistic" to other people who they barely know simply because the person in question has a very strong hobby and is perhaps slightly weird about it

Honestly, Tmblr is very therapeutic, almost like a diary. I never got into journaling, because I didn't really understand who I was writing to, and it felt pointless (now that I'm saying it that feels like really autistic behavoir/way to think, lol) and uncomfortable, but Tumblr allows me to pretend I'm talking to an audience or something. It makes me feel more like I'm actually telling tings to someone and like they're listening, and it let's me write things down and let them in to the world in stead of bottling them upand hiding them in some book.
It just feels better and more natural than journaling to me, and the results are pretty much the same.

There's so much wrong with "everyone is a little bit autistic"
Yes, allistic people might know a lot of facts about the things they like. Yes, allistic people might get a bit overwhelmed or underwhelmed sometimes. Yes, allistic people might not get an expression sometimes, mostly if it's the first time they hear it.
That doesn't make them autistic.
Those traits only make someone autistic when they become disabling. Because, big shock, autism is a disability. Yeah, even if someone is low support needs, because that doesn't mean they don't need any support at all.
Saying "everyone is a little bit autistic" is like saying "everyone struggles with this, so suck it up, you have no right to need help". Which is just pure ableist bullshit. It denies the fact that autistic people have higher support needs than NTs, no matter where in the autistic spectrum they are. We're not "neurospicy", we're disabled, and denying this fact is denying us the right to get the help we need, we deserve, to have a good life.
(yes, this rant is just because I made the awful decision of listening to "neurospicy (interlude)" by Jax. honestly I'd rather be called a slur than listen to that shit again.)

"you only say you're autistic because you want to feel special and different" actually finding out i was autistic made me feel significantly less special and different. before i was autistic i was Strange and Unpredictable in some sort of Unknowable way which Surely meant i was Predestined for Greatness (like storybook character). now im just some fuckin autistic guy like any other. i significantly prefer it this way btw
