Gang leader / Syndicate crossover au:

Henry is the youngest of the three brothers, Raphael and Kent are nonidentical twins. Henry is two years younger than them and has always been the baby of the group. Raphael and Kent have always been protective of him and also love to mess with him.

Their parents were abusive, Raphael and Kent decided to take the opportunity to leave Glasgow the first moment they got and they took Henry with them. They moved to London and one of their uncles-- who owned and inherited quite a successful shipping company by the London docks-- gave Kent and Raphael jobs as Henry went to university. The uncle died before Henry graduated, and left the business to Raphael and Kent.

Henry did not talk a lot to his brothers while in University. He tried to reach out to them but suddenly Raphael and Kent were "incredibly busy", Henry assumed they were busy trying to keep the family business going well.

He went to visit them on their dock after he graduated and got his doctorate. He had learned a lot about the London "culture" and gangs from Robert (and Rachel) telling him everything there is about the London underground and the aristocracy. Much to his horror, he arrived at the docks to find his brothers dressed as Templars.

Henry was quickly forced into the Templar order against his will. His brothers gaslight and manipulated him into joining, other members threatened to hurt him or his friends if he didn't join, and it ended up being Henry's biggest regret.

Henry spent about 13 years in the Templar order working in secret for it. He was allowed to do as he pleased as long as he made poisons for them. In the meantime, Henry tried to make up for the guilt he had from the suffering he had caused by helping people on the street. Hungry, dirty, sick people who quickly becoming loyal to the doctor who always feeds them and gives them what they need to survive.

In this part of the au, Henry more directly creates the gang. He realizes that these people are willing to fight for him and they have placed him on a pedestal. He can't get himself down from it so he takes advantage of it. He makes sure that the Society is under constant protection and that the gang brings in money that can be spent on taking care of the members and keep the Society afloat. No Lodger cares enough for the finances to notice the sudden influx of money, and Henry merely tells Rachel and Robert that it’s “sponsors”.

It was only when the Frye Twins entered and began to liberate London that he decided that it was the perfect time to finally break free from the Templar order. He had long since lost any love he still had for his brothers and he would do anything to be free again. He ended up cornering and murdering his brothers in cold blood while his gang distracted the Blighters, and he blamed the murders on the Frye Twins afterwards, the very same Frye Twins that quickly would... Well... Realize that they did not kill these Templars and instead try to track down the murderer that blamed it on them.

In the end, they find their way to Dr. Henry Jekyll's office. Henry had done a good job and working behind the scenes and no one had really suspected him of working for the Templars, so the twins-- while hearing from Greenie that it was rumored that the Jekyll Brothers and Dr. Henry Jekyll were related-- did not know that Henry himself used to be a Templar.

Henry, however, assumed they had broken into his office to kill him. He had already resigned himself to his own death, he was not going to fight it. He had burnt every photograph and document he had that connected him to his brothers and he had merely been waiting for the twins to come and kill him. He was, honest to god, quite disappointed when the Twins seemed confused and instead asked him if he knew anything about the murder of the Jekyll brothers.

"...The murder of my brothers, the Templars? The murder committed by someone close and well trusted by them, the murder that went undetected, and that was later blamed on you? The murder that had slank past the eyes of public after a convenient gang fight right that moment?"

It does not take long for the twins to realize what he is hinting to. His voice his bitter and his body language is cold, yet it doesn't sound like he regrets it.

ahaha anyways i ended up accidentally just retelling the entire thing well time for some actual hcs about this au branch.

Henry gets extreme paranoia after having murdered his brothers. He swears he can still see their faces of terror or hear their screams of pain and agony when he closes his eyes and try to go to sleep. He constantly feels followed by them, but he is too used with Hyde, so he doesn't pay attention to "them". When he doesn’t sleep, they silently follow him with whatever other hallucinations he have at the moment, like Moreau.

He wanted to be the one to murder his brothers himself, he didn't find it dignified to have someone else do the murdering for him. He generally does not want his gang to murder people, only hurt those of necessity, and he still wanted to give his brothers the dignity of not having to be killed by a random gang member.

Something in him kinda... Died that day. His friends, the Lodgers, and his very on gang could all notice how Henry seemed... Colder, more tired, constantly exhausted. He refused to tell anyone why, though, and he still did everything he needed to do so no one could force an explanation out of him. It was not until the newspapers reported on the murder that people realized that he was acting weirdly because his brothers had been murdered. Henry debated snapping his own neck once the Lodgers began to flock to him with words of sympathy, unaware that he was the murderer.

He is extremely benevolent to his gang, something many feared he wouldn’t be at first. He has always been a kind person and that’s why people began to flock to him as it was, but some feared that he would... Ah, turn crueler after a while like most gang leaders. That never happened, though. He saw each and every one of his gang members as his family, and took care of them as such.

He and his gang began teaming up with Lucy many years before either met the twins. It was always fun when Rachel tried to introduce the two of them without telling Henry that Lucy is... Well, Queen Lucy, and it was always fun to act as if they had never met before and as if Henry hadn’t just been invited to dinner the night before. Henry is really good friends with Patrin and Elise.

Henry’s gang wear blue. The Blighters wear red and before the twins and the Rook started, Henry didn’t want his own gang associated or reminding him of Hyde. Blue it was, and it easily made his gang slip into crowds and disguise themselves to be the Scotland Yard.

Neither Brokenshire nor Abberline knew about Henry’s gang until Abberline started working with the twins and until after Henry was “recruited” by them. Depending on if Henry murdered his brothers before or after he joined the twins, Abberline and Brokenshire helped him cover up the murder.

Ahaha wow Uhm. I keep forgetting how I format and classify these as rambles but anyways time for some Jekyll x Jacob <3 This is just going to be in general btw so <3<3

Henry was incredibly endeared by Jacob from the moment he heard about him. Something about a tall, strong ruffian bringing justice to the streets of London (and fighting Templars) was just incredibly... Ah, attractive in Henry’s eyes. He actually allowed himself to feel that because hell, he works for the Templars and Jacob is supposed to be the enemy, Henry hates the Templars, why not be incredibly gay for the assassin?

Jacob shamelessly flirted with Henry from the first moment the met. Breaking into his office to figure out who murdered his brothers and Jacob could certainly not read the room. Henry was far too gone that he merely huffed and flirted back... Well, until they came to the topic at hand. Even in other branches were Henry was recruited by them to make poisons, or where they met in a gang fight, and Jacob still shamelessly flirts with Henry.

Jacob tries so hard to be romantic. Henry is incredibly amused by it. He will be working in his office late at night and Jacob will pop by his open window to demand attention. He will come back to his office after having ran son errands and there will be bouquets of fresh lavenders, lilacs, and tulips. Jacob will constantly “force” him (or, well, bribe him to leave his work) to go on dates with him, dates that consists of wandering the rooftops of London and watch the stars at night or have a nice dinner together. He loves to spoil Henry rotten <3

Jacob loves cuddles. Henry was not very physically affectionate at first. He was afraid that Jacob would end up doing the same thing Robert did to him and while he couldn’t keep away from him, Jacob made sure to take it slow for him. Their favorite pastime is to cuddle on one of the couches in the train after exhausting missions, and Henry finds that he can’t keep away from Jacob’s touch for too long.

Rachel and Robert began to introduce Henry into the more... Ah, illegal luxuries of the London life. They take him to a fight club and are highly confused when Henry suddenly gets incredibly excited as he watches his boyfriend kick the shit out of people. He completely abandons them and practically fall into Jacob’s (sweaty and slightly bloody) arms the moment the fighting is done. Both he and Hyde love to check out Jacob fighting in fight clubs.

(Jacob post-fight is probably the hottest sight Henry has ever seen and Jacob knows that fully well. Jacob often uses the money he wins from the fights buying gifts for his lil boyfriend <3).

Another ideal date in the eyes of Jacob is highjacking Henry’s carriage and abducting him. It’s all fun and games until he accidentally does that when Jasper, Rachel, or Robert are in the carriage too. That was not fun for Henry to explain.

After Jacob and Evie have liberated all child factories, Henry makes a spur-of-the-moment decision to adopt Clara (the child who wanted the twins to free the children in the factories). Clara ends up getting raised by two very protective and very lovely-dovely dads. She spends most of her time in the Society (while still helping the kids on the street) but Jacob visits her and Henry a lot.

Look I just want Henry and Jacob to raise a kid that won’t come back and try to murder them later on ok.

Anyways on to some other hcs. Jacob loves to make sexual jokes to Henry. Henry either acts dumb and as if he doesn’t understand them, or he will shot them right back until Jacob is the one blushing (or highly embarrassed).

Jacob loves to break into the Society and follow Henry around but make sure he doesn’t see him. He will be parkour over the ceiling beams and all the Lodgers will notice and get extremely paranoid, trying to get Henry to notice it too because clearly something is up, Henry will completely ignore him most of the time.

Jacob rarely sleeps because his work as an assassin rarely allows him to, but once he and Henry starts dating he always makes sure to visit Henry during the night (or have Henry come to the train) so that they can cuddle and sleep together, knowing Henry won’t sleep by himself.

Henry is always the tiny spoon. Always. Jacob loves to hold him. Henry is always cold and Jacob is always warm so for Henry it’s like being wrapped in a blanket and for Jacob it’s like having an ice cube chilling down his overheated body.

Henry gets overwhelmed quite easily, both in general and with their actual relationship. As dramatic and clingy Jacob can be at times, he always gives Henry the space he needs and especially in the beginning, when everything was so new and Henry had to take his time to process everything. Jacob is always patient with him.

Henry likes to create stuff for Jacob. It can be everything from new poisons to new gadgets, to something as simple as a painting or a hand-made sweater he did himself. When the gifts became more... Simple, so to speak, he worried that Jacob wouldn’t like them, but Jacob absolutely loves and treasures anything Henry does for him, although he routinely gives the sweaters and clothing back so Henry can wear them, and so Jacob can get them back and it smells like his boyfriend <3

(Evie always finds Jacob cuddled up with the sweater in the mornings when they can’t be together. She thinks that it’s stupidly adorable).

Jacob stays in London after Evie and Green get married and move to India. He would originally have thought of leaving London to return to the Assassin Order in Crawley, but ultimately decided to stay with his lover in London. After the end events of TGS, the two of them buy a horse ranch out in the countryside where they retire. Jacob occasionally returns to London as the leader of the Rooks, and soon they begin on working to expand the gang to other cities. Henry doesn’t normally return to London, but always eagerly awaits his husbands return. By the time they have retired and moved, Clara goes to University in London, but she always makes sure to visit her dads inbetween her semesters.

They get to die a peaceful death after having lived a long and fulfilling life. Henry died first, his body having gotten weaker after many years of HJ7, and Jacob died only a few days afterward. Clara made sure they got buried in the same grave, and their little farmhouse and their belongings (and their story) has been passed down from generations ever since.

Lydia, Jacob’s canonical granddaughter that lives through ww1, is instead Greenie’s and Evie’s grandchild for this au/ship.

born in san jose, california, roman lived with his parents and little sister clarissa until the age of eight, when his mom left them in pursuit of an old flame from high school that she apparently never got over. their dad tried to raise them for maybe… a few months… before realizing he had close to no parenting ability. he and clarissa were sent to live with their rich aunt in wisconsin, and they’ve been there ever since.

listen… their aunt turned out to be a Helicopter Mom to them and it was… super suffocating, especially to roman. she expected so much out of them and tried to force her own dreams onto them but he was just Not Feeling It. he’d always hit her with the “ur not even my real mom” line. despite being a rather intelligent dude with a relatively quick wit, he put the bare minimum into school (especially around the halfway point in high school) … but still lowkey wanted to do well. he was the guy who always found a way to get test answers inconspicuously and found ways to work around the turnitin system, ya feel? tl;dr: smart and capable, but incredibly unmotivated

when he was fifteen, he found out (while eavesdropping on one of his aunt’s phone calls) that his dad had gotten remarried and had twins with his new wife, a girl and a boy. furious over the fact that this was kept a secret from him for two years, he went to rant about it to his sister, who told him that they should just keep pretending like they don’t know. roman suddenly couldn’t hear, and during dinner that night, he brought it up and it was an angsty time.

after this revelation, he began Acting Out more because he hated the idea that their dad just sent them away almost like it was nothing but ended up raising an entirely new family of his own afterward. it started to feel like it was him and his sister against the world, and even to this day he would do anything for her. he got into fights a lot in high school because he gets defensive and doesn’t know when to Stop. his temper is… so short…

he took a photography class his junior year high school and just… really enjoyed it?? it was practically the only class he actually wanted to Try in. his teacher noticed this, and they ended up being pretty close. when roman wasn’t out messing around, he spent a lot of time hanging in the classroom and talking about life and photography. probably the One adult he respected, but his teacher ended up moving to new york shortly after he graduated high school. it felt like he was being abandoned once again (yikes!!!) even tho he knew it had nothing to do with him.

but yeah, for the past few years, roman has just been studying film (his aunt thinks he’s there for engineering but he did a switchy switch… haha keep it a secret!), doing freelance photography on the side, and fuckin’ shit up ! his sister is currently going to school in california, and her decision to attend berkeley lowkey rubbed him the wrong way since it’s relatively close to where their dad lives and he doesn’t want thim to reach out to clarissa or anything because he’s supposed to be dead to them.

GOT7 AS: Doctors

Just some cute bullet points about what GOT7 would be like as doctors. I know almost nothing about doctors and medicine so take it easy on me with the factual accuracy.

Mark: Emergency Medicine

Mark is the stone-faced doctor who is head of the ER.

Despite the fact that the Emergency ward is always filled with people panicking, with life-or-death cases and horrifying situations, Mark always maintains a straight and calm face through it all. His ability to stay calm and composed and make rational decisions even when patients are bleeding to their death is what makes him the best Emergency medicine doctor.

He is very sweet and calm when not on duty, but his eyes flash with anger whenever one of the junior doctors get flustered while handling a patient.

Panicking at the Emergency room is unforgivable. A cool and rational decision could be the difference between someone’s life and death. Mark Tuan makes sure to drill that into every single doctor and resident that works underneath him.

But sometimes, when he has to declare a person dead and there’s nothing they can do to save them, Mark takes a moment to go into the other room and cry for a little bit. You were a junior doctor and you spotted him kneeling on the floor and crying in the on-call room one day, after a number of patients were brought in dead after a construction accident.

You realized that Dr. Mark Tuan wasn’t emotionless. He just bottled up his emotions until he had a convenient moment to release them. He was afraid that they would interfere with his work if he let them overwhelm him while he was handling the patient.

Some of the other interns and junior doctors were scared of Dr. Tuan, but he was actually quite shy and sweet. He once blushed when you brought him a coffee one morning and thanked you in a soft, shy voice. He brought you a coffee the next day in return.

You had also seen him playing with a small child when her mother was taken into the emergency room. She had been crying but Dr. Tuan let her play with her stethoscope and laughed when the large instrument wouldn’t fit properly into the toddler’s ears.

One of the nurses once told you that there Mark Tuan’s laugh was probably one of the wonders of the world. You couldn’t look at it for too long because it would dazzle you. He was probably the most popular doctor among all the female staff at the hospital because of his handsome looks.

It was really hard to find him if he wasn’t on duty, though. Dr. Tuan seemed to vanish out of thin air whenever he wasn’t on a shift and you had once spotted him practically racing to get home after he’d worked two shifts in a row.

But he worked hard, so you supposed he deserved it.

Jaebum: Neurosurgery

Dr. Im Jaebum is one of the most well-known doctors in the hospital. He’s won awards for his research in neurology and his picture is even put up in the lobby because he’s the most recommended neurosurgeon in the city.

You don’t talk to Im Jaebum before a surgery. When he’s putting his scrubs on and preparing to go into the operation theater, even a tiny unwarranted giggle from an intern will cause him to go ballistic. He once grabbed a junior doctor by the collar after surgery because the man misidentified a surgical instrument and almost handed him the wrong one. Nobody messes with Im Jaebum’s surgery.

Even though Dr. Im pretends to be extremely cold and professional, he lives for those successful surgeries when the families come to him later with tears in their eyes and thank him for saving the patient’s life. No matter how busy he is, Jaebum always takes out time to meet the patient’s family and explain exactly how the surgery is going to go/has gone.

It reminds him why he’s in this profession and it reassures him that he’s doing some good in this world.

Jaebum sometimes takes the junior doctors and interns out for drinks if they’ve worked hard and had a successful surgery. He seems a little gruff but he makes sure to give compliments just as often as he gives scoldings.

You often assisted during Jaebum’s surgeries and you thought he was extremely famous for his steady hands and steady gaze. But you once saw him turn white when he saw a little infant boy lying on the surgery table. Jaebum’s hands trembled for a little bit and he had to step out of the room for a few seconds but he returned looking calm and composed.

He is always a little bit softer with his female colleagues and it sometimes makes the male doctors in the Neurology department angry. But none of them have the guts to say anything to him about it.

Jaebum is also on the hospital’s Board. He attends meetings religiously and makes sure that all the departments are getting enough funds. He has a soft spot for Dr. Choi Youngjae, so somehow the OB-GYN department ends up with the most budget every year.

Jackson: Physical Therapy

Dr. Jackson Wang specializes in physical therapy and chronic pain.

He has a bunch of weird-looking machines and devices in his office including this enormous rubber ball. Nobody knows what all those devices are for. Even Jackson isn’t entirely sure. They’re rarely used because he mostly just recommends Pilates and yoga for common problems.

Always greets his patients with an enormous smile and asks them a bunch of random questions about their lives and day before he starts talking about their pain or what they need treatment for. You were one of his regular patients because you suffered from chronic pain due to a spinal injury some years back and Jackson always remembers his patients. Every single one.

Jackson gets a lot of old people complaining about body pains and he’s always extra sweet and smiley with them. You had once spotted an old lady who admitted to her friend that her pain wasn’t even that bad anymore, but she liked coming down to the hospital for treatment because of the ‘cute, sweet young doctor’.

A lot of his patients are sports-persons. Jackson wanted to play sports professionally once and he’s a complete fanboy, so he makes sure to take all their autographs and frames them so he can hang them up in a small corner of his office. That collection of autographs is his most prized possession.

Insists on his department being painted bright colors. It’s even more colorful than the pediatric wing.

Lives for the days when he gets children as patients. It’s not very often and Jackson is often bothering Dr. Kim Yugyeom of the Pediatric department to refer more children to physical therapy. But the one time Yugyeom did refer a little boy who had been in an accident and had his legs partially paralyzed, Jackson almost cried.

Gets a little bit hurt when people tell him he’s ‘not a real doctor’ but always forces a smile and tries not to get too angry about it.

Once an extremely rude patient called him a ‘massage therapist’ and Jackson smiled before calmly reminding him that he knew exactly which part of the patient’s body to press to make him pass out while screaming in pain.

The patient never came back for another appointment after that.

Jinyoung: Psychiatry

He’s the Departmental head of what most people call the “crazy” ward.

If you use the words crazy, retarded or anything else inappropriate around Dr. Park Jinyoung, be prepared to be kicked out of the hospital. He once fired a nurse from his department for referring to a difficult patient as ‘bat-shit’.

He likes to remind his staff that they never know when they might find themselves on the other side of the glass wall.

It’s a little bit scary because he has an almost psychotic glint in his eyes as he says it.

Dr. Jinyoung is extremely kind and understanding with his patients, and they all love him. But he can’t stand seeing parents and family who are ashamed of being found in the psychiatry ward. Once screamed at a mother who admitted that she was embarrassed of her daughter’s mental illness and wanted to take her home from the hospital.

His office is full of books on psychology. If he’s not dealing with a patient then he can be found reading in his office.

Has a slightly perverse interest in criminal psychology which also scares his staff a little bit sometimes. Jinyoung gets excited whenever he’s called in to evaluate the mental condition of a criminal, or a serial killer or something of the sort but you notice that he always looks miserable and exhausted and sort of... sad, when he returns from the evaluation.

He once admitted to you quietly that he doesn’t have a lot of faith left in humanity.

Keeps sending Dr. Kim Yugyeom reminders to come in for a psychiatric evaluation and once half-seriously diagnosed him with a mental age of 4 and a half. Dr. Yugyeom knows better than to come anywhere near the psychiatry ward.

Youngjae: Obstetrics/Gynecology

There are two beautiful sounds that one hears in the OB/GYN department.

The first is the sound of a newborn baby crying, and the second is the sound of Dr. Choi Youngjae’s laughter. Often, the two sounds can be heard simultaneously and then it’s like music to the ears.

Dr. Choi isn’t entirely sure how or why he ended up becoming an obstetrician, but he helped deliver a neighbor’s fourth child when he was still in medical school and the woman had told him that out of all the deliveries she’d had, he was the best doctor. Also, nothing made Youngjae happier than seeing new life come into this world.

He can sometimes be seen sneaking into the neo-natal unit after his shift is over and cooing at the adorable babies in their tiny little beds. You had caught him doing that once and he had blushed and tried to look professional as he walked away, but he admitted to you later that it made him feel less stressed to just look at the adorable babies.

He mainly specializes in pregnancy and childbirth but he sometimes has to deal with the ordinary gynecology department if no other doctors are available.

Once had to explain to a 13-year old girl what a period was and he got so flustered and embarrassed that he decided to stay away from ordinary gynecology and stick to the obstetrics departments where he could deal with pregnant women who thought he was adorable.

You noticed that he became extremely sad and withdrawn on the days when single mothers admitted to him that they wanted an abortion. Youngjae rarely tried to talk them out of it unless it was dangerous to their health but he told you that it made him sad. He never performs abortion procedures himself.

You once overheard a pregnant woman telling you that she had seen Youngjae’s smiling face after she’d had a c-section and since she hadn’t recovered from the anesthesia, actually thought that she was looking at a real angel.

Bambam: Ophthalmology

Specializes in illnesses and diseases relating to the eye and vision.

Tells every single female patient without exception that she has beautiful eyes in order to see whether she blushes. Sometimes even says it to the men just because.

“On a scale of one to ten, how handsome am I? Seven? Oh dear, you do need some serious treatment. Don’t worry, you’ll be able to see my devastating good looks with perfect clarity once I’m done with you.”

He’s designed his own version of the eye chart that he keeps in his office. They seem like ordinary alphabets but they actually spell out ‘Bambam is a prince’ if you read them all together. Once a Board member came by his department for inspection and forced him to take it down and replace it with the standard chart.

His department doesn’t get a lot of funds even though Bambam brings in huge money by performing lasik and other laser eye refractive surgeries. They’re cosmetic surgeries so they are extremely pricey. He likes knowing that he brings in some of the biggest money to the hospital.

Dr. Bambam can often be found pestering Dr. Im Jaebum in the cafeteria to help him get more funds for his department so that he can buy the latest technology.

Gets a lot of old people as patients, who have cataract issues and the like. Most people have to wear dark glasses after their eye surgery and Bambam only gives out really stylish ones with leopard-print designs on the frame. If you want ordinary ones they you have to spend extra money and go buy them from a pharmacy.

Is extremely chill with his colleagues and buys them all drinks when they don’t have any surgeries scheduled the next day. Once turned up to work completely hungover and wearing dark glasses so he was mistaken for a patient.

Yugyeom: Pediatrics

Dr. Kim Yugyeom is one of the best pediatricians in the city and delivers excellent results, but he can somehow never get the kids to like him. Dr. Jinyoung has a psychological theory that children have a tendency to identify Yugyeom as one of their own, which is why they don’t submit to his authority.

Dr. Jinyoung has since been banned from the pediatric ward.

People think the stuffed bear collection he keeps in his office is for the little kids to play with, but he secretly actually really likes collecting the stuffed bears and had to control his anger when a little boy ripped one of them apart once. He smiled and pretended to be fine but then told the nurse at reception to transfer the kid to a different doctor for his next appointment.

Nobody messes with Yugyeom’s bears.

He’s extremely smiley and friendly with patients and their parents. Dr. Kim Yugyeom is particularly popular with the single mothers because he’s so handsome and he always greets them with big, welcoming smiles. Some of them like to think he’s flirting with them but he just behaves like that with everyone. He tries to be polite about not giving out his personal number after one particularly lonely single mother once tried to sext him on the pretense of asking about her child’s health.

Yugyeom once had to reprimand a nurse for handling a child too roughly, but he couldn’t do it. He ended up calling in Dr, Im Jaebum to help him and the nurse somehow got fired. He still feels bad about it.

Most people think that Yugyeom is extremely innocent and harmless but the truth is, he’s most likely to be found clubbing with Dr. Bambam on weekends. The two of them like to pick up women at clubs by telling them that they’re doctors. It works like a miracle.

“Where were you during lunch?” Roman asks Logan as soon as he’s within ear shot, “Virgil said you didn’t talk to him at all during class and you left before any of us could ask what was up.”

Logan doesn’t say anything, just walks up to the bleacher behind him. Roman sighs.

“Logan, you can’t just decide you don’t have an eating disorder, and even if you didn’t, you can’t just leave us like that,” Roman pauses, “Or, at least, we’d really appreciate it if you didn’t. Patton was worried.”

…

“Virgil was, too.”

…

“And maybe I was a little bit, too. You know. Just like, if you don’t want to eat with us anymore, tell us?”

…

“Wait a second, are you giving me the silent treatment?” Roman asks, “That is...really childish. And I thought you were mature.” Roman’s eyes go wide, “How am I supposed to pass time now? At least look at me! Logan!”

But Logan ignores him, instead he gets out a book to start his homework. Roman leans over and taps on the top of it.

“Logan. Logan. Logan. Logan,” he says, “Pay attention to me. We have to talk.”

Logan slams the book shut, and Roman yanks his fingers back before they’re crushed with a yelp. But once they’re out of the way, Logan just opens his book again.

“Fine. I can do the not talking thing too.”

…

“Really? Nothing? No skeptical look? No glare? No frowning at my bad grammar?” No response. “Dammit.”

Logan slips into his desk next to Virgil the following day.

“You know,” he says, eyes on the board, “You can’t keep this up forever.”

Both of them keep their eyes on the board. Logan isn’t going to crack that easy.

“Eventually, you’ll have to talk to me or Roman.”

Except Virgil isn’t so sure he’s right anymore. His anxiety makes it hard for him to convince himself that Logan has to talk to them, much less convince Logan. It doesn’t sound likely, Logan being able to avoid them all for the next year, but he supposes there are kids he’s never talked to, what if Logan just fades into one of them, wait-was he even going to come into therapy? Had it gotten that serious? How? What if-

“Virgil, are you okay?” Mrs. Spencer is suddenly at his side, “Do you need to be excused?”

Out of the corner of his eyes, he can see Logan look over at him, and he looks worried. Virgil takes a deep breath but shakes his head. He’s not trying to guilt him into talking to them again. Logan keeps his eyes on him for a second longer, then looks to the front of the classroom. Mrs. Spencer’s eyes flick over to him, but the bell rings and she has to get class started.

One thing is clear to Logan: Roman was right. This whole thing is childish. But he doesn’t know what to say. He doesn’t have an eating disorder, and it’s wrong for him to use resources others need, like therapy, like Mrs. Spencer’s room, like this support system-

You don’t deserve it.

But if he told any of his friends-not his friends, you don’t deserve them-if he told his peers that, they clearly wouldn’t believe him. Roman had proven that. Or worse. They would see the truth. That he never deserved any of this. He wasn’t sick enough. He wasn’t sick at all.

These are the thoughts that make it hard to focus in English. That, and the fact that he and Virgil are looking at each other while also pretending not to look at each other. They haven’t made eye contact once, thankfully, because Logan doesn’t know what he would say if they did. Well, that’s not completely true. He’d probably start with “I’m sorry.”

The bell rings, and for a second Logan actually considers staying. He could explain himself, right? They would probably understand. But when he sees Roman and Patton in the doorway, he can’t do it. He jumps from his seat and leaves.

Patton drops his bag into a random seat and turns to Roman and Virgil.

“I’ll be back,” he says, and he follows Logan outside. “Did he talk to you at all?” Roman asks Virgil, pulling up a desk to sit across from him.

“Nope,” Virgil says, “I think he was close at one point, but that was just because I was scaring him.”

“Scaring him?”

“I was panicking, a little,” he says, and he doesn’t know what’s worse, focusing on Roman when he says that, or focusing on his food.

“Ah...is that...better now?”

“Well, I’m not going to cry into your food or pass out because I can’t breathe, if that’s what your thinking.”

“...are those actual things that can happen?”

Virgil glares at Roman, but he’s caught off guard, because Roman seems...sincere. He just seems curious, not malicious.

“I mean, I guess they can. Especially the crying thing. But I’ve never actually passed out, even though sometimes it’s hard to breathe.”

“Okay,” Roman says, slowly, “So you have anxiety, too?”

“I mean, I guess? You know Picani’s method-”

“You are not your disorder,” they both quote their therapist.

“So I’ve never actually asked what I have, but it’s pretty obvious from the panic attacks,” Virgil says, and he finally takes a bite of his lunch, “What about you?”

“I don’t think I have any other problems besides the eating disorder.”

Virgil takes a sip from his water so he doesn’t say anything snarky. They already have one issue right now. They eat in silence for a bit before Roman cracks.

“I think I made it worse.”

“Made what worse?”

Roman gestures towards the door, “The Logan situation. The last time I talked to him...he said he doesn’t think he has an eating disorder.”

“Yeah, he mentioned that during lunch. Did he say more during gym?”

“Nothing new. Just that he thought he ate too much-” Roman pauses when he sees Virgil’s face, “Yeah, I know. And I tried to help? But I think I made it worse.”

“What did you do?”

“You know how he’s like, super smart and factual? I tried to show him the facts. So I googled anorexia and showed him that he was having the same complications as other sufferers. To try and prove it to him,” Roman babbles a bit, then pauses. Virgil doesn’t say anything for a second, so he blurts out, “Do you think I made it worse?”

Virgil looks at him and for a second Roman’s afraid of what he’ll say.

“Do I think it’s your fault that someone with an eating disorder is in denial? No. I don’t,”

Roman lets out a breath he didn’t know he was holding, but something is still bothering him. Virgil can tell.

“Spit it out, Princey.”

“Did I hurt his feelings, though? He was talking to us, and we were fine, and then I talked to him, and now he hates us?” Does he hate me?

“Yep, must be your fault,” And the sarcasm must not even register, because Roman immediately pales, “Wait, wait, wait! I was being an ass, I’m sorry,” Virgil says quickly. Then he sighs, “We were not okay. He could barely eat during lunch, and he wasn’t talking to us at all, remember? And I don’t think it’s because you talked to him, I think it’s because you showed him we wouldn’t believe his lies about being okay. Of course he’s defensive.”

“...so he doesn’t hate me?”

Virgil bites his tongue. That set up was just too good, but he can’t hurt Roman’s feelings twice in one heart-to-heart moment.

“No, I don’t think he hates you.”

Roman takes a deep breath. Good. He doesn’t know if he could handle more people hating him.

Logan is trying to find the most complicated walking pattern he possibly can, to try and lose Patton.

It’s not working. And now people are thinning out, so it’s easier for him to follow.

“I will follow you around this entire school, Logan,” Patton threatens. Well. As much as Patton can threaten.

But it makes Logan sigh and face his fri-peer.

“I don’t need the room anymore, therefore I’m not using it. That’s all.”

“Really? So you can suddenly eat exactly how you want to? Your last session must have been miraculous,” Something almost imperceptible crosses Logan’s face, but Patton catches it and raises an eyebrow.

“I…,” this is only going to make it worse, Logan knows that, but he might as well get everyone off his case, “I had an appointment with Dr. Sanders yesterday, but I didn’t go.”

Patton frowns. “You know, to get the full benefits of recovery, you have to commit to it, one hundred percent.”

Logan groans, “Now you sound like him. But, it’s just,” Logan sighs, “I don’t have an eating disorder. And it’s wrong for me to keep using the resources that are available, so I need to cease immediately.” Logan turns quickly and starts walking down the hallway.

Logan expects footsteps, either to stop him or to leave him. What he doesn’t expect is possibly the world’s quietest voice asking, “You don’t mean that, do you?”

It would be easy to ignore, but something makes him turn around, “Of course I do. I wouldn’t have said it if it was untrue.”

“Logan…,” Patton walks up to him. He searches for something to say, biting his lip. But he can’t find the words. So instead he leans over and wraps his arms around Logan. He holds his breath to see how he reacts, ready to pull back at a second’s notice.

Logan freezes. He can’t remember the last time someone has hugged him. Slowly, he brings his hands up to wrap around Patton.

“You must be hurting so much.”

“I-I’m not,” Logan says, but his voice his failing him and suddenly he feels tears in his eyes. He holds on to Patton a little tighter. Then slowly he says, “I don’t want to.”

“Don’t want to what?”

“Do this. I don’t want to starve myself, but I-I don’t want to eat either. It’s been years, Patton.”

“I know,” Patton says, and suddenly Logan is overwhelmed with guilt, he almost wants to pull away. Patton thinks back, back to last night, and every night before, “Sometimes I don’t either.”

“But if we don’t…”

The second half of the sentence hangs in the air. Neither one of them has to say it. That’s not an option.

Logan leans his head on Patton’s shoulder, hiding for just a second. “I’m not strong enough to do this. I thought if I could convince myself...if I could convince everyone...why can’t it just be over?”

“I don’t know,” Patton says, “I don’t know why it just won’t stop, but...it will, eventually. If we keep trying, dedicating ourselves, just like Dr. Sanders said. Just try, Logan, please?”

Logan finally drops his hands, wiping at his eyes as fast as he can. He takes a deep breath.

“Okay.”

Reconciliation by the Sea (Continuation of this)

Elaine, who grew tired and weary of casting cold, cruel looks to her husband, simply isolated herself from him for long periods of time, only allowing idle chatter to initiate between the two of them. She was still upset by his actions, but not enough to declare it malice. Those around her still feared her, and shockingly, she enjoyed such fear. She enjoyed her own cruelty.

It wouldn’t be long before she healed, but how to speak to Dr. X after that happened? Conveying her feelings would be rather difficult without some anger laced within said feelings. Elaine wasn’t malicious towards him any longer, but lately wondered if his love for her were valid. He let her isolate herself, and made no motion to try to ‘win’ her back, almost as if he wanted her to keep away from him.

Did she really turn that barbaric? Would he abandon her in full?

It wouldn’t be a surprise-- Most of Elaine’s life has left her alone, up until seven years previous when she married Dr. X. She would grieve if her fear became true. She would be truly alone again, either left to rot or die in an effort to keep Dr. X’s secrets at bay. Her overreactions make her heart race. Elaine looks at her face through the reflection of the now-cold bathwater. She’s been crying, and her cheeks have been stained with dry tears.

Her heart cannot lie. She misses her husband dearly. She missed his hold, his kisses, his love. Though icy he was, Dr. X was something else to her. He could actually be warm and loving. She called on the days they would lie for hours in bed, and Dr. X would ignore everything and everyone for her. He would nuzzle her gently, sometimes denying he did such a childish act, and leave a flurry of kisses on her cheek and neck.

There was something about the way he would touch her, kiss her, and show his affection that had her always craving more. Every night of intimacy would be different. Every day they woke, naked and in each other’s arms, would be a different morning. She missed that. She missed all of it. Was it weak to cave after such a long time and reconcile with him? Elaine figured by now, he would have learned the reason behind this circumstance-- and to never let it happen again.

She leans back in the tub. Even this was different. When she wanted an act of intimacy, Dr. X joined her, in the tub. It was big enough for the two of them, especially considering their master bath was large enough for a separate shower and tub, as well as a small round stool to sit on to freshen up. The water was so cold now, and Elaine could have used her newfound Crimson Blizzard power-- snow combined with raging flames-- to heat the water, rather than getting out and causing her body to become even colder as she changed the water, but found she believed she wasn’t deserving of warmth.

Elaine wanted to get out. She wanted to find her husband and kiss him, to tell him that she was no longer angry, and that she desired to have his blissfully overwhelming heat and his everything. She could not bring herself to move. She leaned forward and let herself cry again, her tears dropping into the water, making a small sound. This was not how she wanted this to end. She did not want to suffer. She did not want her heart to suffer... and she did not want Dr. X to suffer, dealing with her, who’s anger was so fiery it could rival the flames of Hell.

She does not hear the door open slightly and lets out an audible gasp as she sees Dr. X. Her eyes follow him as he sits on the little stool. They are both silent for a brief time. He looks at her warily, as he expects her to coldly tell him off, and force him to leave before she does, however when she does not, his look changes. He is confused, as he should be.

“You stayed in here longer than you normally do,” he speaks softly, unlike him. “I was worried.”

Elaine opened her mouth to reply, but stopped when he lifted his hand to stroke her hair gently. He did it briefly and prepared to pull his hand away but was stopped by Elaine who grabbed his hand in a flash, holding it strongly. He made a startled sound, but squeezed gently.

“Elaine...”

Hearing her name being spoken so softly did nothing to heal her. This was not him. He wasn’t supposed to be like this. He always said her name strongly. Treated her like an equal. Now it was if he was afraid of her! Trying to please her, trying to win her favor-- the very same she did when she first met him. She pulled on his hand, and he stood. She looked up at him, and let his hand loose, then tugged on his shirt. He would know what that meant.

The water splashed everywhere. He was on top of her, just as she wanted. Seeing him soak his clothes and hair, not even bothering to take them off, invoked some sort of heat pooling within Elaine. He gripped her neck and leaned down to kiss her hard. Her fingers tangle in his hair, and she feels his desire, in more ways than one.

Gasping, she looked up at him.

“I-I love... I love you too. I love you. Okay?! So... Please, I just-- I know-- We’re a mess. A big mess. We made mistakes-- and it messed me up, it messed you up, but, damn it, I-”

Dr. X leaned down to kiss her forehead, and Elaine calmed instantly. Her thoughts were a mess. All that mattered is that he knew she was genuinely apologetic. That she did not want this to happen again-- the coldness, avoidance, maliciousness. All she wanted was to feel his need for her, and for him to feel her desire. That was all.

Her eyes felt droopy and she closed them, yawning.

“Don’t leave me in the morning,” she pleaded, drousiness adding a bit of laziness to her voice. “Stay off the day. Be with me. Be with me only, if you can. I’m selfish... Want you to myself.”

“Of course,” he agreed. “I won’t be needed for one day. We can laze away, have everything brought to us, without any unneeded interaction.”

Elaine nuzzled him lazily.

“Good...”

Feeling him peck her lips, she was lulled to sleep shortly, with him following suit. Knowing that he would be there when she awoke gave her a peaceful sleep.

I'm thinking about getting a little newer Dodge Ram, but the insurance is a little more expensive on it than what I'm already paying. So why are trucks the most expensive vehicles to insure? I mean if they are in a low speed accident, they don't cost nearly as much to fix as a Brand new expensive car such as a Mercedes with expensive parts, and trucks don't get damaged as easily either.
