sometimes i think about how maya would probably hate how cagey mia would get around her, or how little she got to see of her sister, and how she's always wanted to be closer to her but she knew the moment mia went to law school and essentially removed herself from the fey clan that from thereon they'd always be in two different worlds.

then she meets phoenix, who loves and cares for her unconditionally like how something like an older sibling would, kinda like the love she's yearned from mia all along. she's incredibly high off of the feeling of finally feeling like someone's equal because phoenix treats her exactly like one. she knows she has a place beside him in court, and that she truly does belong there with him. sometimes i think that phoenix was maya's first taste of true proper friendship, since she couldn't get any of that at all with her sheltered life in kurain. her only friends her whole life was her older sister and her younger cousin.

it's just ... nice to be disconnected from a family that's only ever isolated and hurt her for so long by nick's side, and she relishes in the escapism of it all. but of course, it never really lasts too long.

when phoenix gets disbarred, she gets insane deja vu like when mia started going to law school. he becomes even cagier, he never even contacts her that much anymore, and it might just drive her mad again. she knows she's his equal, they've went through several life and death situations together. but when she sees him again he feels like a husk of the man he once was. she can never stop loving him, not when he's unconditionally loved her all these years, but it hurts all the same again. like mentor, like student.

A ship I have with said character: basic ass answer is franmaya... i do actually like them together, i think it could be a rlly fun dynamic to explore. also maya/regina was cute in case 2.3 (one of the only things i liked about it rip) i've seen some good maya/blackquill stuff before also but its not really something i ship just an interesting dynamic. in general though i dont really devote much time to shipping maya w anyone i think her canon platonic/familial relationships are already very interesting

A BROTP I have with said character: PHOENIX!!! nick and maya 4EVER they are so good. !!!!! i loveee their dynamic, they work so well together and really bounce off each other well. i also like the more serious aspect of how mia's death connected them and how they both share this grief even in very different ways. i like how even if mia hadn't died they still would've probably been friends when she introduced them :) anyway phoenix and maya are very fond of each other and i think it's really sweet - bridge to turnabout is one of my favorite cases in part bc of the very present bond between them and how much phoenix cares about maya (same w the engarde case, but that one is almost better in this regard bc of how maya's care for phoenix is also heavily present). also big fan of the silly part of their dynamic where maya steals his wallet and hits him over the head with evidence <3

another really interesting relationship that's less canonically present is maya & godot. what we see of them in bridge to turn about is soooo compelling, and i would have loved to see more of them. i think in a world where godot eventually gets out of prison he and maya could work to have some kind of relationship to both their benefit. <- its interesting how mia and mia's death is kind of a driving force for maya's connections to people, maya & mia is also deeply interesting and compelling but i could write an essay about them so i will just say that i love them a lot as well lol

General Opinion over said character: I LOVE HERRRR she's the og aa weirdgirl !!! maya is very dear to me, she's definitely one of my favorite characters and i love seeing her. currently my friend and i are playing aa4 and i miss her so bad :'( maya in general is a very endearing character, and she + her family is a big driving force in the trilogy which i find very compelling. she's also just cool! i love it when teenage girls have weird superpowers! i think maya is a very caring character who is silly but has really impactful serious aspects to her which are so awesome to see <3 anyway i did draw maya every day for months last year so like yeah u could say i like her a normal amount lol

i think in this au dan straight up goes by lara, cuz fuck it. lara had transitioned from a young age, im thinking like 16-17? so she still has a lot of like, all boys high school trauma n shit, mainly because this is all self projection okay its fic i am allowed to do that. she basically figured out she was trans at the start of a single-sex secondary school and it was a nightmare (again i am self-projecting <33)

also phil goes by phil still, i think maybe early on she did ask her mom what she would have been called and tried calling herself fiona for a bit, but decided shes just so phil! and i'd like to think she hadnt actually seen the 2013 movie called philomena starring judi dench until after she decided that would be the full version of phil lol, honestly she was prob just on a baby name website like the rest of us o7

as soon as lara could get a job and buy her own clothes and get put on the evil fucking nhs waiting list, she was set on moving as far away from home as possible. she still went to manc uni and still dropped out and never became mia fey TT_TT luckily at uni, she ended up becoming friends with a little queer circle of pals, a staple for a healthy time in school (and ofc theres the one cishet dude that hangs around cuz theres always gotta be the one) but once they all graduated from uni and moved back home, lara was the only one left in manchester.

phil doesnt start transitioning or even realize shes trans until she turned 27, so shes almost a baby trans compared to lara. shes very easily accepted by her local lesbian community, she always got along better with them than any of the cis gay guys tbh (in terms of friendship and romance. sexually speaking, she had very much enjoyed her time with cis gay men...) and as much as she loves the butches and genderqueers in her life who fully accept her as a woman despite continuing to appear masculine, she still ends up feeling isolated due to the lack of trans women in her hometown, or at least at her local gay pub. eventually she makes enough money working at the mechanic to move to manchester. she still hadnt come out as trans at the new car shop she works at, but she views her car mechanic life to be separate from her trans queer life. at least, at first she does, until a young woman drives in with a dented bumper and a smashed headlight.

PRINCESS BRIDE AU CAST LIST HERE WE GO BOYS We'll start with the easy ones first and my reasonings of why- Buttercup -> Miles Edgeworth Stubborn, prideful, rude towards 'Westley' at first, dramatic, sarcastic, smart, related to Von Karma more than anyone else (I'll explain more in the Prince Humperdnik casting). Westley/Dread Pirate Robert -> Phoenix Wright/Shelly De Killer Resourceful, bluff (just... the whole scene with the cups and the poison is a very Phoenix move), devoted, selfless, brave, witty, stubborn, could survive something that would kill everyone else out of sheer will. ---- Tell me Phoenix wouldn't be the guy to say "As you wish" with all that tenderness and devotion to a guy who is objectively a jerk. --- Okay, supporting cast now! the sillies and the goofies- Inigo Montoya -> Diego Armando/Godot I have less of a personality analysis and more of a setting that makes sense, but bare with me. First off, well, he's the most likely to want to kill Phoenix and then help him later. Secondly, they both carry physical wounds that are related to a deep loss. Thirdly, he uses Godot for the whole time until "My name is Diego Armando. You killed my true love, prepare to die." Fourthly, Mia Fey was killed by someone with a heart-shaped pendant ;) Fezzik -> Dick Gumshoe Tall, strong, dumb man. Miracle Max and Valerie -> Mystic Maya and Pearl THEY ARE SILLY AND GOOFY AND MAGIC AND PEARL WOULD 100% PUSH MAYA TO HELP FOR TRUE LOVE TELL ME IM WRONG --- Now, we get to the assholes y a y :) Prince Humperdnik -> Manfred von Karma and Franziska von Karma In this AU, Prince Humperdnik is divided into Manfred Von Karma and Franziska Von Karma. Manfred is the current king and is trying to cause a war with the nation of Khura'in, like Humperdnik in the movie. However, he does not marry Miles himself and, instead, fiances him to his daughter Franziska (which neither are particularly happy about btw). He is the one who goes on the hunt and organizes the promises, torture, wedding, etc. Franziska is less involved and is forced to remain in the castle by her father. Count Ruden -> Dahlia Hawthorne She would want Mia dead 100% and would have no qualms about hurting Phoenix. Also, she is responsible of blinding Godot in Ace Attorney and in this. The Albino -> Iris Hawthorne She would help Dahlia but doesn't have the blood-thirst that she seems to possess. Vizzini -> Damon Gant I just want him to die. Also, he laughs a lot and thinks he's much smarter than he actually is. Also, also, everyone in the crew would be against a defense attorney, so it's in theme B) --- And, finally, in the real world, the beloved. The Grandson -> Trucy Gramarye She is my beloved, my dearest girl and she deserves a good story. Also, idk why, but she sounds like she would refuse a kissing story at first and then just get into it. The Grandfather -> Magnify Gramarye He is her actual grandpa and the character has a little mystical side that Magnify most certainly has.

i do actually because i feel like phoenix is the protagonist right but mia is like. its like the legend of zelda. mia haunts the narrative. figuratively and literally, and something that i love about bridge to the turnabout specifically is how it all goes back to the fey family and it just wraps a tragic little bow on it and i love how she probably was next in line for khurain master and she probably was generally good at channeling spirits but she chose to leave that behind for a career in law because of her mom and shes like a strong and smart career woman and i love how maya loves her and i love how phoenix loves her and i love how godot loves her so much that it extends to maya like she's the last thing he has left of her and he's willing to sacrifice so much because he feels like he owes that to her and i dont know if any of this makes sense but im just always thinking about the feys dude theyre connected to everything though arguably its just dl6 itself and the feys just happened to be connected but skfhekfhsjdn i love that even in the wright anything agency they still keep charley around even though hes later revealed to be plastic but it still makes me emotional i dont care. i love mia so fucking much

hi shoop!!!!! it’s lovely to see you again i’m glad you’re back!!!! and yes i AM playing ace attorney and i am having a WONDERFUL time. i’ve only played the original trilogy atm (my sibling has trapped me in the monster runtime of persona 5 and i want OUT) but these games are so good….

favorite character is probably edgeworth but maya is in second place by like a single point it’s a close race. and then franziska and pearl are tied for third by another single point cause so many characters in this game are so good. the von karma siblings and the fey siblings make me so insane for different reasons but they do both make me INSANE. and the parallels between them whew! i do love phoenix a whole lot he just tends to take a back seat cause every other character knocks it out of the park, but he’s a swell guy. larry’s animations are my favorite ever. fave case is farewell my turnabout by a LONG shot i love that thing so much. pearl and phoenix hanging out, engarde being a nasty little guy, adrien, the way that case plays with tension and gives the viewer information, miles being the one yelling at ziska to go to the hospital when she gets shot, maya calling mia cause she’s scared, phoenix underselling him and miles dramatic reunion cause he’s BUSY….it has it all. wonderful case. delightful.

gant is definitely my favorite villain for his presentation and presence alone, they do such a good job of making him feel untouchable and malicious and NASTY even at the very beginning when he’s still pretending to be nice. and i so often miss von karma because that guy was SUCH a good villain….despicable fellow and what a delight to play against!!!! and the way he haunts everything even after he’s gone…. just wonderful character work in there, horrible guy. i remember like JUMPING the first time i heard his scary ass objection voice line. kill that guy again. love himmmm

also my favorite track is jfa telling the truth. i can’t link it rn bc im hiding in the bathroom at work but every time that song started i just stopped and listened to it for like a minute. i love it

also one of my favorite parts of playing this game has been like, the same reason i really liked reading shakespeare last year in that like it’s just realy fun to see a classic of a genre and realize Why it’s a classic. these games are SO sharply written, the character work is great, the way it works with parallels and implications, the way it balances humor and tension and tragedy….its a classic for a reason!!!! this team knows exactly how to use the limited medium of a visual novel to its absolute fullest extent and that is so cool to see. i had the thought while i was watching the anime of like ok seeing these characters move and emote more in a fully animated thing is Novel and a little fun, but it actually does not give me any More information about their characters or relationships, because the writing in the original knew it was limited and communicated character perfectly within those limits. crazy stuff! cannot wait to go meet apollo and TRUCY and kay…..

Hello friends.

I have an idea. (From an AU)

I been playing Ace Attorney from a while (I complete the first game and my friend gift me the trilogy, so im playing the other two games) and I still having a hyperfijation with SxF (atleast from now). So, lets combine them.

If you don't play Phoenix Wright, Ace Attorney, you should play it, I recomend it. (and watch out, because i gonna give a few spoilers about the games and they history).

Let's begin.

Let's explain the characters and WHY I choose them.

Anya Forger (as Phoenix Wright):

- Ex-art student on collage, with a terrible ex-boyfriend.

- She became a lawyer after being saved by Sylvia (the Mia Fey of this universe) and having a crush on the-one-shouldn't-be-mentioned (Damian)

- Terrible lawyer, with a horrible luck, and mostly being save because of someone else or when her two neurons make contact the evidence.

- George (Larry) is her best friend, and in her first trial, she must save his ass.

- She actually doesn't look like a lawyer, because she is poor (?), so she has to use an old suit from his father (the green one) with some arrangement to be from her size made them by her mom (disastrous, but it works)

Damian Desmond (as Miles Edgeworth):

- Traumatized.

- He still having a crush on Anya, but he prefer be punched on the ribs that say "I love you" to her.

- After they first real encounter (the second case) Damian send his butler (Ewen) and his personal tailor to make her a good suit (because he wants that his rival to look presentable on court... Because he hates her!)

- Emile (Gumshoe) is his right-hand man, he trust blindly on him (and that's why when Emile misses something, he cuts his salary)

- Wanted to be a lawyer like his mother, but now he only has traumas.

Becky Blackbell (as Franziska Von Karma)

- SHE HAS A WHIP.

- SHE IS A GIRLBOSS.

- She isn't part of the family Desmond (she conserves her lastname) because she is Damian's cousin who wants to revenge the figure of Donovan Desmond.

- The option B is that Franziska is Demetrius, but i like Becky more because she has a whip and can whip Anya on the middle of the court. Pretty fun character.

- She isn't the bestie of Anya on this universe, but they got respect for eachother (Becky considers that she is a very capable woman and fights to achieve her goals, just like her.)

George Glooman (as Larry Butz)

- Idiot.

- He only could be a cheated, accused of murder, and get away with it, all in at least 24 hours.

- He isn't a big friend with Damian since they were kids and they argued about who is gonna takes Anya's hand to marriage. (spoiler: nobody remembers it clearly, they just hate each other because they are idiots.)

- Like Larry, he ended up being an artist.

Sylvia Sherwood:

- Mia Fey for this universe.

- really intelegent.

- Helped Anya on the past and became her tutor/friend when she decided be a lawyer.

- Still watching Anya since Ken (The Maya of this universe) and her became partners.

- She and Ken are family (aunt/nephew), when she has to keep info, she invites him to eat something. After the first trial, Anya and they were going out to eat, but something happen.

Ken Sherwood (as Maya Fey)

- Took Sylvia lastname.

- symptom of "being at the wrong time and place"

- He was arrested more times that you could imagined.

- Esper still on training. (Always in his hippie-clothes so gets bullied by that)

- Only can use his powers when the situation is crítical. (Only in contact with Mia because she is from his bloodline)

Melinda and Donovan Desmond:

- Melinda (32) was a really good defense lawyer who makes everything to get a Not Guilty sentence. Loved by everyone.

- Her husband, by the other hand, wasn't loved by everyone, mostly because of his tactics has a prosecutor where... Well, you know, cuestionables.

- They had two sons. Demetrius and Damian.

- Melinda was killed by someone non-identified on a elevator. Right infront Damian.

- Since then, Donovan raised his youngest son to be a bastard at court (just like him).

...Play Ace Attorney, pirated Nintendo is morally correct.

Vanny could have been a great parallel for Dahlia Hawthorne but no. no they decided that mind control is a good plot. >:(

im thinking and im trying to fit her into my Kristoph & William illness but no thoughts are clicking. hmm. bc shes sooo similar to Kristoph in the sense of being Phoenix's toxic exes who hate him but she's very far removed from William in the sense that she never actually liked Phoenix at all && her emotions just aren't examined by the game much at all. wait ive been going at this from the wrong angle (bc I havent played the trilogy in a while lmao). I need to be examining her relationship with Mia Fey.

hm. her relationship & animosity towards her is also filled with jealousy because of course it is we love jealousy as motive. but that isn't what motivated her to commit her crimes, though. their relationship started AFTER she did that first robbery && fake-murder-victim-hours. but like for the life of me I cannot remember what her prime motivations were- wait, no, I do. she carried out that robbery bc she belonged to a broken home and wanted power, wealth, attention. bit reminiscent of my William hcs but thats for another day. then the rest of her crimes spiralled out from her needing to cover-up her past (killed valerie bc she was gonna spill about her past, attempted murder of Diego Armando bc he was digging into her past, murder of that one student cant remember because he was digging into her criminal activities re: attempted murder, n everything w/ maya n misty because #revenge against mia yknow.)

ok im jumping off that tangent to think about how heavily ace attorney plays into themes of facades & masks. like its the part I most love Kristoph for but now I'm thinking about it, the motif is everywhere. in Dahlia, of course, as she also presents a soft, delicate side that hides her cruel interior (although she is less insufferably polite and moreso just self-infantalising which is why I never really latched onto her as I did Kristoph), but also in Godot/Diego, who. literally wears a mask. but also conceals his reasons behind why he hated Phoenix, how his mask showed not only that but also how he was unwilling to face his past, unwilling to forgive, unwilling to let go and accept what happened, happened.

like from the AA wiki: "Godot thought he couldn't forgive Wright, but he knew, deep down, that the one he couldn't forgive was himself. Not able to face Mia's death head-on, Godot had run away, throwing away his past, his name, and even his face, hiding behind a mask."

and ok I do not have a conclusion for this tangent and I, sadly, have no way of relating this to FNAF but goddamn I love this silly little lawyer game. ily Trials and Tribulations youve got great characters and great writing and goddamn Ace Attorney is such a good series.

end of rant I think I need to get more mentally ill about Dahlia Hawthorne bc there is a lot of stuff for me to love there. also I think her and Mia deserve toxic yuri. god I love Mia Fey she is the only bisexual representation ever she has two hands and those are for both Lana Skye and Diego Armando ❤️❤️

complaining abt how the women were written in aa3

my aa3 verdict is that it was Weird About Women actually.. like very weird and a weaker game for it. i already went over this in my godot post but seriously, it was so weird how this game was more about what godot thought of mia, than it was about mia herself.. like i find it extremely weird that a conversation between mia and godot didnt happen at any point like what was with that, godot kept talking abt mia mia mia and its like... why didnt mia get to say anything to him?? like... shes not dead dead, we get to chitchat with her every other case. why was mia reduced to an abstraction whenever godot was around like what... and like yeah that moment where phoenix and mia's spirit pointed fingers at godot was pretty cool but it was also like.. mia was just here with us?? a little while ago...??? speaking abt "her spirit lives on through you" like no she lives on thru maya and pearl actually. i get to chat with her every other month. why... why doesnt she get to speak for herself at any point??

and i cant believe maya our good friend maya didnt have more focus like Whattt. why is everything abt maya so so subtle.. why is her grief abt mia and her mother and her aunt and having to be the Master not more upfront? same with pearl, shes just learned that she had older sisters this whole time, why doesnt her feelings on tht get explored... vice versa with iris' feelings on pearl! and brah iris.. like i dont mind ambiguity in writing and i dont need every little thing to be explored, but seeing as the final trial went on and on abt "Putting An End to Things" aka putting an end to everyone's (mia's godot's and phoenix's) troubles with dahlia.. it was weird that iris' own troubles with dahlia werent explored more? like what role did iris actually play in the faked kidnapping plot all those years ago? or how did iris actually feel abt dahlia?? how did she feel abt the fact that her sister was executed, and how was it like for her to see her again at the sacred cavern?? when it comes to dahlia, iris should be a pretty important character, and yet she almost felt more like a footnote?? it almost felt like it was more important tht iris was phoenix's love interest than she was dahlia's twin??

speaking of dahlia, it was really weird that she was lauded as this terrible demon for planning tht fake kidnapping all those years ago, but its weird how neither valerie or iris received as much flack for the role they played in it. and while yes it is terrible that dahlia then killed valerie, its VERY WEIRD that terry fawles wasnt properly admonished at any point?? he was 20 years old dating dahlia who was 14 like.... yeah theres nothing to say, thats just very fucking weird. ace attorney can be very awful sometimes. and for everyone ingame to hate dahlia for causing his death like... bro, if u look at this another way, this is a women freeing herself from her abuser. im just very weirded out by how dahlia was framed as this terribly perfect villain, despite having been implied to have been abused by her parents and then terry. obvs that doesnt excuse the things she did but its like, iykyk; im not a fan of how a woman who tried to escape the fey's legacy was effectively demonized and not afforded more nuance, even when we as the players are very intimately aware of how fucked up this family is. pearl and iris, the other children of morgan, are afforded nuance, godot is afforded nuance despite also being a killer, so its like... hm!

and this game being weird w women of course extends beyond the final case... that moment with maya and the waitress uniform was really fucking weird! and the fact that mia is just ok with phoenix doing that really shows that this game was written by a man -_- also i made jokes early in my playthru abt godot giving off gay vibes, and my basis for that was bc it kinda seemed like he was flirting with Every male witness, but looking back at it whats crazy is that well... excluding dahlia, there were no female witness in the entire game until 3-5?? which is so weird... yes theres at least some women involved in each case, we had desiree and violetta and the computer lady, but when looking at the past 2 games, its just kinda weird that women played such minor roles in this game's cases? like in the past two games we had so many female defendants, female witnesses, female accomplices, female comedic relief... but in this game, nearly every female character was tied up in a way to a man, either as a love interest or a man's point of honor. dahlia / iris were phoenix's love interest, desiree delite was ron's wife, violetta was tigre's kinda girlfriend, maggey was gumshoe's love interest, like.. compared to the first game which barely had any female love interests (angel starr and april may are arguably the only love interests), and the second game where the only "love interest" was really regina (which is still gross but not the point), its kinda a crazy comparison.. like there was such a wide variety of female characters with various motives in the past 2 games, while in this one most of them act as a love interest to a man. even our good friend mia became a love interest to a man in this game!

but yeah um... this game was weird with the way it handled its women. female characters became a point of pride for characters like phoenix and godot, it was a matter of their pride whether they could protect them or not. rather than looking at iris' relation with dahlia, the game concluded with iris actually being phoenix's lover all along. maya's and mia's and pearl's grief became a sort of footnote, misty was dispensable for the sake of godot's pride, various female characters were love interests and lacked the more compelling motives that we saw in the past 2 games... yeah..... not great :[

Favourite Thing: her relationship with Maya, which is EXTREMELY juicy and i need to spend more time deliberating on. they're so. it's such a complicated relationship and i love it and i love them

Least Favourite Thing: that design. it does not work. im a lesbian and even i want those boobs out of my face.

Favourite Line: i know that Dahlia wasn't treated the best by t&t, but that doesn't change the fact that "For all of eternity, you'll have to remain as Dahlia Hawthorne. A miserable, pathetic, weak creature who can never win at anything... And for you, there is no escape from that. No hope of freedom." and ESPECIALLY "The narrow bridge that once stretched out in front of you has burnt to a crisp!" go hard as HELL

brOTP: Maya obviously, but also Phoenix, just because the three of them would have been an unstoppable team together

OTP: miego is fun and supported by canon, but lanamia is objectively funnier (and also yuri. i am biased), so im gonna say lanamia

nOTP: i dont dig too deep into shipping stuff so im not sure if this is a thing, but Mia and Phoenix doesn't sit right with me. dunno why.

Random Headcanon: saw a post somewhere that Mia definitely sent copies of all of her uni textbooks to Maya because Kurain was doing a shit job of teaching them properly and have since incorporated that very thoroughly into my worldview

Unpopular Opinion: if she comes back in a later game im going to break something. she moved on after bridge to the turnabout. not sure if people actually put her in post-aa3 fics but if they do im fighting all of them in single combat

this was a pretty solid 1st case! ryuunosuke had a really satisfying little miniarc of becoming more assertive and i am very proud of him ^_^ he is soooo autistic btw. he struggles to get the right words out because he’s trying to conform to societal conventions that he doesn’t actually understand?? check. he’s constantly asking clarifying questions like “what do you mean by that?” when people try to imply stuff or otherwise not say exactly what they mean?? check. and a little cliche but that photographic memory though. hmm. am i projecting or is this real

the pacing wasn’t stellar imo, i thought a lot could have been expedited/cut out and it would still be satisfying, and as a traditional mystery i thought it was on the weaker side, i didn’t feel like the trial really flowed from point to point, instead it just kind of tangented and tangented until it reached some semblance of a point that didn’t seem to disprove ryuunosuke’s guilt at all until the very last minute. ultimately though i still enjoyed it and quite a few story beats really caught my eye and are making me really excited to see what comes next!!

first of all asougi is a delight and i love him, he’s is definitely servings some “lawful paladin type chooses the path of self-destruction” vibes especially with the stuff about how his sword guides him, is the spirit of his clan, he will use it to cut through any opposition, etc…. not to mention he’s obviously very ambitious. not gonna lie he’s kinda wearing the shirt though….. he feels very mia fey to me and then he offered to go out to get food with ryuunosuke just like mia offered to get drinks w/ nick……… hi hello do u remember what happened to mia after that. SHE GOT BONKED. i’m just saying IT COULD HAPPEN he seems like a sweet friend though i can’t wait to see what kind of emotional crisis he will be having in this game <3

liking the specific setting and implied cultural influences a lot!! can’t quite say what i think is going to happen with that bc i honestly have no clue, but i do love some political intrigue so i really hope we see more of this kind of stuff in the story! ik the mainline second trilogy likes to tackle themes of systemic change and stuff which would be awesome if they could just stick the landing, so hopefully those kind of thing will be handled in a more interesting way/it doesn’t fall flat in this game

i have never hated the animation in the 3ds titles but i think i like the general look of this game more than like, dual destinies, the way dgs plays with camera angles seems more natural than it did in dd, which kind of made it feel like they were throwing in new angles just because they could even though they didn’t look that great. though i would like to see more characters and sprites that take advantage of the increased capabilities of 3d models etc etc, since that was something i thought dd did really well.

also is ryuunosuke going to get accused of something again?? because i saw like a screenshot in the trailer of susato watching him and he’s wearing handcuffs which i was expecting to happen in the first case. but it did not. so hopefully we will not have to defend ourselves again acsjhdj i do like the concept as a story beat but i think aai-2 poisoned me against that one a little (despite this is still think athena should have defended herself in turnabout for tomorrow but whateverrr whatever. whatever)

probably not going to get too far but yeagh i think im gonna continue to the next case and see what’s up. cheers

Oh my goddddddd you understand! It's just. It's so so good oh my god. I am NOT very awake right now, and should be studying for an exam, so this is nowhere near coherent

I love the script so much. The repeated use of August day and the way that turns into final day, amazing. It's the same song as Phoenix is preparing to defend each of his childhood best friends! And I love that one of the main repeated lines is "make it right" because it reads to me as a Phoenix Wright pun which makes so much sense. And so many of the repeated lines just GET to me. When Edgeworth is scolding Payne for losing Larry's trial, he says "save your breath. I have no need for excuses." And then he talks about how von Karma is the one who Payne will have to deal with for messing up. And then later, in Decree of the Prosecutor, von Karma then tels Edgeworth "save your breath. A von Karma has no need for excuses." Edgeworth was talking about how Payne will have to report to von Karma for his mistake, but now HE'S the one reporting to von Karma for his mistake. Just aaaaaaa. It GETS TO ME. Or the way Edgeworth uses the same opening statement as von Karma? Chefs kiss. There are so many of these but another thing I noticed at some point is how at the beginning of here I am, or whatever it's called idk really, Mia goes "just force a grin and don't give in, and one day, we'll make it right!" And then in Fight Like a Fey, when Maya is already dealing with the massive emotions about Mia's death, but also dealing with the Fey legacy that was just. Dumped in her lap. Unwanted. One of the lines is "I will force a grin, I will not give in. I am alright, I'm okay." She learned this behavior from Mia! I'm absolutely insane about this

I love love love love the gumshoe scenes, especially in act 2! I really like his voice and I wish he got to sing more, but also like you said his little arc about who does he side with, Edgeworth or the police? And the "[I'm going to] follow orders. Chief's right. It's time I do my damn job." It's done so wellllll. Especially since previously in act one, instead of saying damn, they say darn at one point (in the objection song I think? "But if it's guilt or innocence the only thing that we know is the way they bang and point and shout, makes for a darn good show!") So the fact that they actually let him and Lana say damn just makes it even better for me.

You're so right BTW the villains have such good songs. 600,000 volts sets the mood of the scene so well, but also Maya and Phoenix are so good in that. I love it when Phoenix goes "Maya, don't get any closer!" And there's the part where Maya goes "Oh, Nick, our tricks won't be useful now! Still I will try to help out somehow!" And then it goes into "Mia help us do what's right. Nows the time! The time to fight!" It's just. So GOOOOOD. The way Nick screams MAYA! After she gets tazed was so well done and it's so good

Also looping back to villian songs Redd White has such good songs. I love the way things are worded in Redd White and You, like how it goes from "Redd White makes the rules" to "Redd White breaks the rules" (im... pretty sure anyway. I could be imagining things!) And the line "let he who is with sin, and loves it, cast the final stone" just is specifically so good to me.

I'll be there is such a good song. It really captures to me how Nick and Maya started knowing each other just because of Mia, but they developed an actual deep friendship during their time together. It also does a really good job of getting the importance of their relationship while also characterizing them super well. Maya leading Phoenix through her elaborate "sooooo I'll just stay at the office, sound good?" Scheme is so in character. One line from that song that I just find kind of funny to is how Phoenix goes "I'm a decent lawyer, but fatherhood's not my forte!" Becuase uh... sorry Phoenix. I've got some bad news for you about aa4...

Unfortunately I interact with media by composing walls of text, so idk how understandable this is, but I am so glad I know someone who gets this musical in a way that I have no one else to talk to about it!
