Chifuyu was a big supporter of the pet shelters and wanted to help out in any way he could. Donating items even helping out when he could. Ever so often his shop would host pet adoption days to help shelter animals find their forever homes. Today's pet adoption day was a little bit different. Peke J  being mischievous as he is, would leave for a day or two and then come back home. Chifuyu would scold him but it seemed to go out one ear and out the other. Chifuyu decided to follow Peke J when he was leaving the home. He walked into a small alley next to a large trash can where a few cardboard boxes were stacked on one another. He discovered Peke J became a daddy, seeing the small little of newborn kittens that were about a week old. It took a moment for the mommy of the kittens to warm up to him but he gladly welcomed them into his home.  

It would be sometime before you and your husband had a long talk about the kittens.. Knowing that they could bring love into many others home. The next part was to break the news to your son. Explaining it to him as simply as possible. He was a bit upset and knew it would be the best choice, with a new baby on the way it would be a lot to handle with a full house. The kittens would always be a part of your family.

“Momma let me help you!” your 5-year-old son taking the box from your hand. 

“Are you sure you got it? You asked, looking at him taking the box to his dad. “Mmhmm” he walked to his father who was fixing the bows on the kittens. “ Momma was carrying boxes again.” Your son snitched you out. You saw your husband raise his brow at you. “Honey, we already talked about you carrying things.”  

“I know but I’m not handicapped now.” You responded as your fingertips caressing your husband's cheeks. 

Chifuyu saw his little one petting the kitten. He didn't leave the kitten's side. For Chifuyu it was a bittersweet moment for him as each one was getting adopted. Chifuyu and you throughout the day managed to get a few kittens adopted in the morning. Chifuyu needed to grab something from one of the aisles when he arrived at the front and noticed the small calico kitten missing. He thought maybe she got out and was roaming around the shop. You, Kazutora and Baji began looking for the lost kitten. Walking back to the front he noticed another kitten was missing. “Another one is missing.” Chifuyu sighed his fingers running through his hair. 

Baji on the other hand noticed one person missing. “I’m not sure they got out by themselves. The cage is too high for them to climb out.” He raised his brow.  "Baji gots a point there," Kazutora responded.

Chifuyu began counting everyone and Baji was right, one was missing. “Can you guys keep and eye on the other kitten men and _____ need to find s/n.” 

Chifuyu and you walked to the back quietly. You heard a small meow “shhh they will hear you milkshake.” You heard your son speaking quietly. 

“Well, we found the kittens.” Chifuyu spoke as his son froze before standing up quickly. 

“Oh look here they are hehe.” Your son nervously laughing as he scratched the back of his head. 

“S/n…” you sighed your hand on your hip. You had a hint on why he did it.

“We got worried when we couldn’t find them.” Chifuyu spoke looking at his son. 

“I know but…” his son looked down.

“But?” Chifuyu asked 

“I don’t want the rest to be adopted, I want to keep them.” Your son spoke. “They are our family.” 

Both you and Chifuyu could hear the sad tone in his voice. Chifuyu kneeled down at eye level with his son. “Of course they are bud. It’s just the house is gonna be really busy when the new baby comes. The kitten will also be a lot to handle as well. But every single one of the kittens that were adopted we know the people. So we know they will get all the love and attention in their new homes.”

“Couldn’t we put the baby up for adoption and keep the kitten?” Your guy's son asked. “We had them longer” 

Chifuyu closed his eyes for a moment as he composed himself; he didn't want to laugh. “Bud me and your mommy want to keep the baby.” 

“We thought you were gonna be excited to be a big brother?” You asked him.

“My friends tell me that when they have a new baby in the house their moms and dads spend a lot of time with the baby instead of them. I don’t want to forget.... it was great when it was just the three of us..”  You could see your son's eyes begin to welt up. You began to become emotional seeing your son upset. 

Chifuyu embraced his son giving him a hug. He rubbed his back he let a low sigh out he didn’t want him to feel like this. “We won't forget our first baby. You gave us the title mom and dad. We did all our first together.” He wiped his son's tears away “I know we might get busy with the new baby but we always make time for you. Plus when the baby arrives you could tell them everything you know.” Giving his son a gentle smile

“We love you very much s/n. I know the baby is going to love you very much too.” You softly spoke to your son. “I have an idea.” Both Chifuyu and your son looked at you. “I know you and milkshake are close, why don’t we keep her.” 

“Really?!?” Both Chifuyu and your son looked at you.

You chuckled at them both having the same reaction. “Yeah Peke J and Mrs.Peke will be happy too.” You cupped your child’s face kissing his forehead. 

After the chat with your son, the rest of the kittens were adopted by the end of the day. When arriving home your son and milkshake ran to his room to play. Peke J and Mrs. Peke both had when to their favorite place to take a nap. Both you and Chifuyu sat on the couch. It was a long day for everyone but knowing the kittens were happily adopted into loving families it was all worth it. You could see your husband lost in his thoughts. “Honey, are you okay?” you asked, rubbing his shoulder.

“Hmmm? Oh yeah… Just a little nervous, we haven’t had a baby in the house in a long time.” “I know it's a little nerve-racking but if I must say.” cupping his cheeks with your hands “you are the best dad I’ve ever seen. Our son adores you and just hearing your voice the baby goes crazy. We might be sleep deprived for a while but it will be worth it.” giving him a soft kiss. 

The dust of pink hitting his cheeks “how did I get so lucky to meet someone like you?” his green hands rest on your belly he felt the small kicks from his unborn child.

“It all draws back to Peke J having us meet.” you smiled “Also I forgot to mention I need you to defend my honor.”

Chifuyu blinked a few times wondering why he needed to do that. “Uhhhh???” “I know Baji was the one who told s/n to say I look like I ate a watermelon.”

Chifuyu pinched the bridge of his nose letting out a low chuckled “Well I think Baji was referring to you eating the whole watermelon.” Raising your brow “Just wait till this baby is out I’m going after you and him.” you let out a chuckle

Hearing a threat from his pregnant wife he couldn’t take it seriously after her chuckle “Babe I love you.” 

“I love you too but I’m still going after you both.”

The Crystal Miracles - (kuroko no basket) based off steven universe but coming from someone who has never watched steven universe the fic was not super dependent on it and was just based around the plot of steven universe (apparently i talked about with my friend who actually watched steven universe) i thought it was cool so definitely recommend! also a bit lengthy but worth it

friends, worlds apart - (haikyuu) it’s mainly bokuaka but there’s other ships so i decided to put this fic here. tbh i don’t remember it too well but i do know it well enough to know that it was really good! it’s a pretty long hogwarts au fic and is based off basic plot points from harry potter but it’s not too similar imo so overall a good read!

Saltwater Room - (kuroken) i think i read this because of a recommendation and man it was funny. i enjoyed all the fun little bits of kenma and hinata just being friends but also the more serious angsty parts and having the whole conflict with kuroo and kenma’s dream. *sigh* it’s good but lengthy. worth it in my opinion but i like long fics so maybe not your cup of tea

When I Fall In Love - (semishira) i can’t really remember this fic since i read it a long time ago but i do remember liking it! the band au/pianist au concept was cool seeing it with semishira and they are so supportive of each other after they get over their annoyance! it’s not as long as the other long fics i’ve recommended but definitely give it a shot!

Cover My Thoughts In Gold - (bokuaka) some classic soulmate au because they are soulmates so why not have a fic that has them be confirmed soulmates

True Ending - (kuroken) marriage proposal in the best and cutest way possible and one that perfectly fits them 🥺

Cat’s Out of the Bag - (kuroken) it’s just some cute little scenes of kenma as a shapeshifter and kuroo not knowing. it’s quick but so so cute how they interact

Dog visits - (kyouhaba) the classic “oh he’s different than i thought what do i do now” and yahaba being soft with kyoutani’s dog is everything and kyoutani not knowing how to deal with yahaba barging into his life 😍

be my honeybee - (kyouhaba) tw: implied/referenced child ab/se if you aren’t comfortable with that please don’t read <3 but it is a good fic and addresses real issues especially with kyoutani not really having anyone to help him until yahaba came around. it’s a bit long and made me cry a little so that’s why it’s good

Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back - (kyouhaba) everyone has superpower abilities!! i always love aus like this so it’s not a surprise it’s one of my favorites. it also touches on mental health in the form of kyoutani doing too much for people when he doesn’t need to and always sacrificing himself for others even when it makes him unhappy. it’s so good tho if you ever decide to read it because it is a bit long

rewrite the stars - (kuroken) arranged marriage au where kenma and kageyama are going to get married but by the end they realize that they are marrying the wrong people and its so cute seeing kenma come to that realization

The Frog in the Well - (midotaka) it has been a while since i read this fic but i do remember laughing about this and just thinking it was overall cute especially with the whole aspect of being a loose retelling of “The Frog-King” and i know two other people who also read this and thought it was cute so there’s that

The Witch in the Tower - (murahimu) this is from the same series and author as the previous knb fic i recommended because this fic is also based around a fairy tale and i found this really cute because they are kinda domestic in this fic since there’s just an adopted child in a tower… anyway

Feels Like Winning - (murahimu) just some soulmate au for them because murasakibara not knowing how to deal with feelings <3

Only with You - (kikasa) a cute fic for this surprisingly underrated ship! it’s not too long but encompasses these idiots’ relationship in this fic perfectly

Claws and paws - (murahimu) this shapeshifter au is so cute because like height difference 😍 and also the whole idea of like himuro being this tiny cat compared for murasakibara is funny to me. it’s kind of long but i enjoyed it!

the blind leading the blind - (childe x zhongli) it’s not really focused on relationship but it really touches on the betrayal that childe feels after realizing that zhongli gave his gnosis to signora behind his back and i think this fic is so very cool for creating that scenario and executed it perfectly!

kintsugi - (teru minamoto x akane aoi) oh lord. oh god. this fic actually kinda broke me. it’s a very bittersweet fic that makes me go OMG YAY and then oh oh oh oh /neg but it does end happily. at what cost tho. it’s so so so good tho definitely recommend. a little lengthy but not too bad

Look At Me Like That - (momotarou mikoshiba x aiichirou nitori) THIS FIC SUMS UP THIS SHIP PERFECTLY! ITS SO GOOD! like the whole thingg of ai having unrequited feelings for rin but is now in love with this idiot momo is exactly how i see their relationship and having that tied up in this one fic.

there was only one bed : a classic for a reason. love it. when they're pining or they don't realize yet or there is all this unresolved tension and they're trying so hard to be normal and pretend there is nothing going on but they're forced closer by the circumstances and then they wake up and they're entangled and it's so awkward but also so warm and domestic it's just chef's kiss. esp when they've been touch deprived. and the horny version can be great too. A.

hanahaki disease : i don't like the version where the person dies unless the feelings are requited, feels like emotional blackmail. i do love it when the disease is fixed by the person acknowledging their own feelings or just confessing. when it's done well it can really straddle the right line between poetry and body horror and denial and repression and pining and yearning which i live for. so it depends. B on average.

friends to lovers : some of the best fics i have ever read have been this trope. esp when they have known each other for so long and their lives are entangled they're made of each other there is so much intimacy and history and feelings happening there can be so scary because there is so much to risk it's agonizing. im also a sucker for friends with benefits who pretend to be casual but actually have feelings bc i do love a smut scene that is full of repressed emotion. that said. i have also seen this trope written in very boring ways that suck all the conflict and tension out of it. B.

I always feel like i haven’t read much but this actually is a decent amount of books so idk what im on about

hearts unbroken by cynthia leitich smith

this was a decent ya contemporary novel. i read this because i loved the author's retelling of peter pan. this was not a retelling of wizard of oz but good commentary on the racism in it. a little forgettable and the plot was a little busy. i liked the romance, it was sweet. i liked the mc's personal journey.

overall grade: B-

in the dream house by carmen maria machado

this is a devastating and beautiful memoir about queer domestic abuse and personal growth. i was enthralled with the creative writing, it was often deeply horrifying. i read this for a book club and it was one of the best book club experiences i have had.

overall grade: A+

a merry little meet cute by julie murphy and sierra simone

a fun romance where a porn star and former boybander meet and fall in love. both of them are bisexual and it's sweet and fast paced.

overall grade: B

little thieves by margaret owen

one of my new favorite books. im a sucker for a fairy tale retelling done well, but it's also a heist novel and there's ace rep. it was a wild ride with beautiful illustrations and mini stories within. vanya is a fantastic protagonist and i adore her. im so excited for the next book, i have already preordered the next one!

oh this book is lovely, so lovely. i was worried it wouldn't hold up to my memory but it did! i loved reading it for class, although the discussions were. . . shortsided imo that has nothing to do with the book. beautifully written and very emotional.

what really stood out to me in this book was the support system for people coping with a traumatic event. i read this because i was compiling a list of ya books about sexual assault and this caught my eye because of the shakespeare references.

Babe wait before i officially answer i have to digress to talk about oscar in annihilation, my god i think it was the first movie i saw where he acts and my god x2 the scenes of him are so domestic (them in bed, them kissing, them talking about the sky and the moon i am literally on the floor) and he looks so soft, i love all his looks i am so weak. then i saw him also in triple frontier and i liked it a lot I’m going to watch it again because oscar's character in that movie affects my brain chemistry i could talk for hours about it.

and i loved moon knight! it was oscar's work that really bought me. He proved what a good actor he is with his role there, he ate it up in my opinion. i like marvel and that's why i watched it but finding oscar there after previously watching those two movies before I was literally the meme of Leonardo DiCaprio pointing at the tv lakdld

I've never been a Star Wars fan but maybe this is my cue to start watching it 🤞🏼

ok so rear window (1954): damn! great movie. i really love the concept: staring at ur neighbours went wrong. the set was just so enjoyable to me (but maybe its my citygirl slash domesticity sucker thing). i really liked lisa's outfits because they were just soo stunning, other women on screen looked beautifully as well. the casual sexism kinda sucks but it was to be expected, i mean. it is a movie from '54. despite that, i still like how women took action and at first disbelieved and ridiculed the main character but over time got invested in the drama. the window parkour was epic, lisa is just such a crazay madgirl im obsessed with her. i think the intrigue was very well built and like. you know. it was a relatable moment: getting slightly paranoid abt some random guys business and then it all got just. more and more wild. tension was especially good in the last sequence but i assume great tension is not that surprising in a hitchcock movie. it had some incredibly solid, beautiful scenes: playing with the light when thorwald was approaching and in the scene where offended lisa runs away it was just very satisfying. i think all the neighbours' sideplots were adorable. it was just fun and made the movie all the more. alive i guess. overall: really fun, i highly recommend, great cinema. someone payed attention to how the frames look and stuff you know?

[8:47 PM] You sat on one end of the couch while Yuta sat on the other, your cold feet meeting his warm ones at the center. You were reading the new book he recommended while he was quietly watching something on his phone, which could be anything from a compilation of cat videos to a random ted talk. You guessed it was somewhere near the former as he let out a laugh, his lips forming a perfect smile.

You looked up from your book to stare at your boyfriend whose hair was already covering nearly half of his face. He looked up from his phone, meeting your eyes.

“Did I distract you?” He grinned apologetically. “Sorry.”

“Can you even see through all that hair?” you asked jokingly, closing the book on your lap.

“Yeah?”

“Well, I can’t see you,” you replied before setting the book down beside you and crawling towards Yuta. You straddled his lap, his arms loosely wrapping around your waist as if it’s an automatic response. You moved a few strands of hair away from his eyes, giving you a better view of his beautiful features.

Yuta’s eyes sparkled as he looked up at you.

“Let me just...” you muttered, taking the ponytail from your wrist and tying his hair in a half bun. You bit your lower lip in concentration as your fingers worked carefully through his strands. “There.”

You leaned back a bit to look at your work. It wasn’t a proper bun. You literally just threw his hair back in a messy way. Loose strands fall on the sides of his face, but somehow it made him look more ethereal. You wonder what you did in the past life to be blessed with someone as beautiful as Nakamoto Yuta.

“Staring is rude,” he said.

You smirked. “I can’t help it, you’re so pretty,” you said cheekily.

Yuta chuckled lightly, the vibrations of his torso radiating through the entire couch. “You’re prettier,” he replied.

“It’s not a competition,” you said.

“Of course, not,” he said, pulling your head down towards his, “because you’ll always end up winning anyway.”

He kissed you softly on the lips. Passionate. Delicate.

You felt a small thud behind you as his phone fell from his grip and landed on the couch. His hands held your waist gently, his fingers slipping through the hem of your shirt to rest on the skin just above your hips, drawing circles there.

Yuta muttered a soft I love you as he pulled away. You smiled, cheeks blushing as you said it back.

You grabbed your book once again and Yuta grabbed his phone. You sat on the space between his legs, back resting against his chest. The two of you went on with your own activities as if nothing happened. You could feel his breaths on the top of your head and hear the faint sound of his heartbeat. You found it very calming, knowing he’s there and he’s yours. You smiled to yourself as Yuta laughed about what he was watching again.

And right then, you realized this was all you ever needed. Him. Here. Now.

a/n: yeah I'm definitely making this a little series of one shots. I couldn't help what I chose as Eddie's daughters name. I've always loved this name myself so I had to. self indulgent im sorry. leave any dad!Eddie hc below and ill write some more drabbles cause I'm a sucker for paternal comfort characters.

“Do you want to hear the song that saved the world?” Eddie asked, his eyes wide and the biggest grin was plastered on his face.

“Here we go again.” You jokingly rolled your eyes, folding laundry on the couch. You had one leg pulled up underneath you and the other laid against the play mat.

“Your dad played the most metal concert in the history of metal concerts and saved the beautiful princess from the dragon.” He continued on. He lifted his arms in the air to imitate a dragon and looked up at you to signify that you were in fact the said princess.

Little Arwen didn’t understand the context as she was only over a year old but she loved when her daddy told her stories. His years of being a dungeon master equipped him to be a girl dad. She was Eddie made over and would always smile and giggle loudly along with her dad’s antics. You would joke how annoyed you were that you carried her for nine months just for her to be his carbon copy but really you loved that she got his beautiful wavy curls and bright brown eyes. As she grew, she began to have his personality as well, something you both hoped wouldn't get harder with age.

“With a little song that goes like-“ Eddie grabbed her small pink ukulele, making sure it was as tuned as it could be for a toy, and began to play the familiar riff. The toy ukulele made the metal song sound so silly, contradicting Eddie's complete serious face. He was head banging to the sound of a toy instrument playing Master of Puppets when his own guitar was literally three feet away from him. You couldn't hold back your laugh as Arwen threw her hands in the air and babbled along with Eddie when he began to softly sing the lyrics. It was like she was determined to sing with him despite being too stubborn to say her first word yet. When he imitated the drums, he put his face right up against Arwen’s who instinctively grabbed onto his face as he continued playing. Eddie's drum sounds, babbles and giggles filled the room.

“She loves you, Eds.” Your heart was full at the scene that played before you.

Eddie mentioning the events that happened a few years ago brought a familiar sting to your chest. You don’t always reflect on it as it does nothing but bring up the trauma but as he told the tale of the upside down in a way that sounded like a fairytale to your daughter, you couldn’t help it. You remember not knowing if Eddie would survive.

That was when he proposed.

“When we get out of this mess-“ he was interrupted by a series of coughs, caused by the huge gash on his throat. You applied more pressure to the wounds you couldn’t wrap yet. “Let’s get out of here. Start a new life. I’ll get you a ring to make it official and we’ll get jobs and a house. Have a kid or two.”

“Is this your way of proposing, Munson?”

“Maybe” He smiled. You couldn’t help but laugh in the mix of your tears. Here he was, on his deathbed, proposing to you.

“That means you better fight to stay alive then. You’re not giving up on me that easily.” You clutched onto his puffer vest, attempting to sit him up more in your lap.

“Is that a yes?” He mumbled, his eyebrows bunched up in question.

“Of course, Eddie. I will always say yes.”

“Good.” He smiled, content with your answer. “I love you, sweetheart. From the moment I laid eyes on you.” He raised a hand to your cheek and brushed the soft skin with his thumb, admiring you and holding onto this moment in case he didn’t have anymore.

“Y/N!” You heard Dustin yelling your name.

“Y/N.”

“Y/N I’m coming!”

“Henderson, help!” You yelled back, you needed all the support to help get Eddie back through to Hawkins where he could be tended to.

“Y/N-“

“Sweetheart, you okay?” Eddie brought you back to reality as he crawled over to the couch between your legs. He recognized the zoned out face and it broke his heart to realize that he may have brought you back to that moment when talking to Arwen. He cupped your face and brushed your cheek like he did that same night except this time, with clean, healed hands. “I’m here, We’re here. We’re okay.” He smiled. You looked at him him with a smile of relief.

“Y-yes. It just comes back sometimes. But yes, I’m okay.”

He took your wrists in his hands and helped pull you away from the laundry and onto the floor. He sat against the couch and embraced you between his legs now and you motioned Arwen to come sit in your lap as your little family cuddled together on the floor. She clumsily made her way over as she was still getting the hang of crawling. You both praised her as she smiled in your arms. You laid your head back on Eddie’s chest as he made silly faces at your daughter to make her laugh.

“My two favorite girls.” Eddie whispered, sitting his chin on your head. He wrapped his arms around you to reach over and ruffle Arwens curly brown hair.

You took a deep breath and smiled. It was moments like this that kept you grounded. Things really were okay. You and Eddie were living the life you dreamed of years ago when you were merely teenagers in a small town.

You brushed over a faded scar on Eddie’s arm before turning back to face him, Arwen still in your lap. He raised his eyebrows.

“I love you.” You whispered. His face softened at the sentiment.

“I love you too, sweetheart. From the moment I laid eyes on you.” He gave you a quick kiss that was interrupted by Arwen who crawled in-between you two. She did not like being left out and begged for both of your attention.

“I love you too, my beautiful beautiful Ari. You’re my saving grace.” He pressed his forehead against hers and you noticed they both scrunched up their noses revealing a parallel image that made your heart melt even more.

One day, you and Eddie could tell her the real tale of Hawkins and the upside down. How her parents met, how they almost lost one another and how they promised to never leave each other’s side. But for now, you were holding onto to any and all small moments like these because you know you’re never promised tomorrow.
