Chapter 37

Taking Wiene back into the Dungeon

Hearthstone Mansion

Like at Beacon Acadamy, here at the Hestia Familia home, the Hearthstone Manor, my Team and I slept in one big bed. When the manor was remodeled, I had them put a door on the wall that opened to, the wall. That way I could put the portal to the PD right behind the false door. I also had Mercedes make a doorbell so when we were in the PD, we would be able to know when someone was at the bedroom door in the manor. Rosni had also picked a room in the PD because she is part of our Team. As we had discussed before the manor was remodeled.

With Wiene living with us, she was sleeping with my Team and I in our big bed. Having my Team and I around her when she sleeps makes her feel secure and safe.

I knew I was going to have to take her back into the dungeon so we can find the Xenos and to find Dix Perdix of the Ikelos Familia.

The Ikelos Familia are capturing monsters and many of the Xenos and selling them on the black market. I'm planning on stopping them. So, I went to Wiene seeking her help. It wouldn't be for a long time, but I needed her to be with the Xenos when they were moving from one village to another.

"Wiene, I need you to help me find other people like you and to catch some bad guys. For you to help me I need to take you back to the twentieth floor. It won't be for long, but there are other people like you that live down there. Like you, they are considered monsters, but they are intelligent and most of them can talk and want to live above ground." I told Wiene.

Wiene's face turned sad when I told her I needed her to go back into the dungeon. "I want to stay with you, Eilwyn. I don't want to leave you!" Wiene exclaimed, with tears starting to well up in her eyes.

I put an arm around Wiene and held her close. "I know you don't want to leave me, but the monsters called Xenos will need our help. And as I said, it won't be for very long. Plus if you go back into the dungeon for a little while, we will be able to help another Xenos and we'll be able to stop a group of humans that are capturing some of the Xenos and selling them into slavery. Once we take care of that, you can come back and live with me for as long as you want. Plus, you can take Linna with you. She will keep you company while you're in the dungeon." I informed Wiene.

"I don't like being away from you. But if it will help someone else and I'll be back really soon. I'll do it for you, Eilwyn." Wiene replied sadly.

To help her out. "The whole time you're in the dungeon I'll leave an open telepathic link between you and me, like the link you have with Linna. So, you can talk to me any time you want. About the part of you helping the Xenos, when the Xenos move to a new village, you'll hear screaming before the others in your group hears it. As soon as you hear the screams let me know and I'll port to you right away. When you hear the screaming, that is where I'll step in to help the Xenos." I told her.

Wiene snuggled into my side. "If I can talk to you every day that I'm gone, and it is to help others. Then I'll do it for you." Wiene told me again.

I bent over and kissed Wiene on the top of her head. "Now I need to let everyone else know what needs to be done." I said more to myself then to Wiene.

First, I went to Hestia. Being the patron of the Familia, she should know my plans before I tell anyone else.

I found Hestia in the kitchen. She was making snacks for everyone. "Lady Hestia, I need to talk to you about us taking Wiene back into the dungeon." I started.

"You're going to take Wiene back to the dungeon? Why would you do that?" Hestia asked while looking at Wiene with a confused look on her face.

"I'm not going to leave her in the dungeon. Wiene will only be there for a week or two. When what I need her to do is finished, she can come back to live here."

We could hear someone knocking on the front door. "I need to set up an intercom system." I said more to myself then to Hestia or Wiene.

Haruhime walked into the kitchen leading a messenger from the Guild. "There is someone from the Guild to talk to Master Bell." She told us then left to go back to cleaning the house.

"I have a message for Bell Cranel of the Hestia Familia." The messenger told us. "Bell Cranel is to meet Eina Tulle at the Guild Hall as soon as possible." The guild worker told us.

"I'll tell him and take Bell to the Guild Hall myself." I told the guild worker.

She gave a slight bow. "Thank you." She told us and headed to the front door to leave.

Hestia followed the Guild worker out and closed the door behind her.

A half hour later Bell and I were in one of the Consultation rooms in the Guild building.

"I'm sorry for asking you to come here on such short notice." Eina told Bell.

All three of us were standing in the room. Eina was standing right in front of Bell while I'm a couple steps off to the side of them.

Eina reached out her hand holding an envelope. "It's a secret mission. I was instructed to give it to you personally." Eina told Bell, but she glanced over at me as she told Bell.

I grinned. "I was expecting this." I said more to myself although Bell and Eina heard me.

Eina looked at me with shock and surprise on their faces. Bell looked at me with surprise on his face but also curiosity. Bell was getting used to me knowing some things would happen before they happened.

"What is it about?" Bell asked me.

"Can't say right now. Eina's not to know what the mission is." I told Bell. "Sorry Eina." I added with a sympathetic smile to Eina.

"Go ahead, open it up and read it." I told Bell.

The letter read:

MISSION

All members of the Hestia Familia are hereby ordered to proceed to the 20th floor with the dragon girl.

Do not tell anyone about it.

Around the edges of the paper is hieroglyphics of the gods. I know this is a message to Hestia to meet Fels right after the rest of us head into the dungeon.

The letter includes instructions on when to leave and a map of the twentieth floor with an area circled on it.

Bell went white after he read the letter.

"Please make sure goddess Hestia sees this as well… Bell? What's wrong." Eina asked.

I put my hand on Bell's shoulder and gave it a light squeeze. "It'll be all right, Bell." I tell him.

Bell looked over at me. "Are you sure? The Guild…" He stopped short because he didn't want to let Eina know what the mission was about.

Eina looked from Bell to me and back to Bell. "Pease, Bell, talk to me. If something is troubling you, please tell me. You have my word I will not tell a soul." Eina told Bell earnestly.

"Thank you, Eina, but as you know we can't tell you what it is. I might be able to tell you later on, but not now." I assured Eina. "As I said 'I' already knew this would happen and I have already told lady Hestia about it."

Eina started at me with shock on her face. "H-how did you know before you received the letter?" She asked me.

I chuckled. "I know some of the future, so I already knew about this. It's not a big deal. It's just a royal pain in the backside. Although some good things will come out of it in the long run." I told Eina and Bell.

After we walked back to Hearthstone Manor, Bell and I showed the letter to Hestia and the rest of the Familia.

"Does this mean the Guild knows about Wiene?" Bell asked.

"It's too soon. The Guild won't know about Wiene this soon." Hestia told us.

"True, but Uranus knows about Wiene. I may have to go see Uranus without an invitation since we will have to leave in the next two or three days to take Wiene into the dungeon." I said.

"I have to go back into the dungeon?" Wiene said with fear in her voice and on her face. "I don't want to leave you, Eilwyn. I love you." Wiene said with tears forming in her eyes.

I put an arm round Wiene. "I told you before that you would have to go back into the dungeon for a little while. Remember?" I asked Wiene.

"Yes, I remember you telling me that, but I…" Wiene admitted.

"This is what I was talking about. We'll take you into the dungeon to the twentieth floor. You'll make new friends down there and in a little while those new friends will move to a new village and that's when you'll hear some screams. You remember what to do when that happens?" I asked Wiene.

"I'm to let you know by talking to you in my mind, like we practiced." Wiene told me.

I smiled at Wiene. "That's right, and when I deal with the Familia that is kidnapping some of the Xenos, you can come back here to live." I reminded Wiene and everyone else. "And if things work out. Your new friends will be able to live in Orario or they can make a village outside of Orario. I'll give each of the Xenos a Companion so they will be able to take the form of a human or demi-human so no one will know they are 'monsters'. Or I can take them to another place where no one will know they are monsters. That depends on what the Xenos want to do." I inform Wiene.

"But I 'will' be able to stay with you, won't I Eilwyn?" Wiene asked shyly.

I nodded my head in agreement and smiled at Wiene. "You definitely will be able to stay with me no matter where the other Xenos live." I assured Wiene.

Wiene bounced up and down then grabbed me in a big hug. "I love you, Eilwyn!" Wiene exclaimed.

I put my arms around Wiene and returned the hug. "I love you too, Wiene." I replied and kissed her on the top of her head.

After our Familia's meeting:

I telepathically searched the city of Orario to find Fels. It didn't take very long to find him. I'm surprised he didn't have wards or some other kind of protection so he could not be discovered telepathically. But then, I'm sure there aren't that many people that can communicate telepathically on this planet.

[Hello Fels.] I sent.

[What!? Who!?] I heard Fels think. He didn't know I could hear what he was thinking.

*What, is human. Who is Lord Eilwyn Tengee of the Hestia Familia. We met not long ago when I took up the quest with Ais to go to the 24th floor pantry.] I told Fels. [All you have to do is think what you want me to hear, and I'll hear it.] I added so he would know how to communicate with me.

[H-how are you able to…] Fels started to ask me.

[I can talk telepathically or mind to mind.] I informed Fels.

[Interesting. I am unable to do that. I remember that quest. What do you wish to talk to me about, Lord Eilwyn Tengee?] Fels asked.

[First you can call me Eilwyn. Second, I want to talk to Uranus about the Xenos and Wiene the dragon girl, that the Hestia Familia is taking back into the dungeon.] I told Fels.

[You know about the Xenos!?] Fels exclaimed. I could feel the shock and surprise in Fels' thoughts.

I nodded my head even though Fels couldn't see me. [Yes, I know about the Xenos. That's why I'm contacting you. I know how to help the Xenos.] I sent to Fels.

[How can you help the Xenos?]

I chuckled. [That is what I want to talk to Uranus about. Set up a meeting time before we have to take Wiene the dragon girl back into the dungeon. And as far as I'm concerned, you can attend the meeting.] I informed Fels.

[I will see what I can do. How do I contact you?] Fels said.

[I'll be at the Hearthstone Manor. It used to be the Apollo Familia's headquarters.] I replied.

[Yes, I should have known. I will let you know what Uranus decides.] Fels told me.

[Thank you, Fels.]

Meeting with Uranus:

Fels appeared at the Hearthstone Manor. Heruhime let Fels in and led him to the dining room where I was at.

I stood up when Haruhime and Fels entered the room. "Hello Fels. I'm guessing you have some information for me." I said.

"Hello Eilwyn Tengee. I am surprised you can talk to me in my head." Fels responded.

I chuckled. "Nice to see you again, Fels." I told Fels.

"Uranus agreed to meet with you. I am to take you to him." Fels told me.

"I'm ready when you are." I told Fels.

"Then let us proceed." Fels said then turned and headed to the front door.

"Wiene, I believe you should come with me." I told Wiene.

"Are you sure?" Wiene asked.

I motioned for her to follow me as I nodded my head, yes.

It didn't take very long for Fels, Wiene and I to arrive at Uranus's room under Babel Tower. Fels led us up to the steps to Uranus's 'throne'. "This is Eilwyn Tengee." Fels told Uranus then he left.

With Wiene at my side, I created a pillar of stone under us, so we were at the same height as Uranu's 'throne'.

Uranus gave no acknowledgment of what I had done. "You wanted to have a meeting with me. What do you want to talk about?" Uranus asked.

"As you know my Familia and I, are to take Wiene back to the Dungeon, so she can live with the Xenos. I have two alternatives I would like to put forward." I started.

"Please continue." Uranus told me thoughtfully.

"First, I am able to give people and the Xenos, Companions. These Companions have several different abilities that they share with their partner." I motioned to Wiene. "If you would Wiene. Your original form please." I said to Wiene.

Wiene looked at me for a moment. Then she shifted to her original Vouivre form.

"What do you see?" I asked Uranus.

"I see a young girl standing beside you. Not a Vouivre. Why are you asking such a question?" Uranus stated.

I grinned. "That is because I gave Wiene, Normalization as well. It allows monsters to seem like normal people or it makes their monster appearance seem exotic and not strange. I'll remove the Normalization for a short time." I looked at Wiene and Nullified her Normalization, so Uranus can see her as she normally is, a Vouivre.

Uranus had a mild shocked look on his face for a moment or two before his expiration went back to normal.

I continued. "As you can see, with a Companion they can be exactly like humans or demi-humans. With that they can hide in plain sight in Orario or they could build their own village or town close to Orario." I started. "It is a true shape change and not an illusion. They keep their intelligence and status, but they would be fully human or demi-human." I clarified.

"A second option. I can take them to another universe. They would fit in at Monster Musume's Japan or the Dragonrider's Pern." I told Uranus. I then pulled out pictures of Papi, Miia, Rachnera, Mero, Centorea, Lala, Suu, Tio, Zombina and Manako. I passed them over to Uranus telekinetically so he could look them over. "Those are monsters which they call liminals or monster girls, that live in a country called Japan. It would take a bit of paperwork to get them settled in, because they are supposed to have host families to live with. But that could be worked around. They would be able to live there in the open with very little difficulty." I said.

"As for the planet Pern. They could live on my land and learn to do whatever job they would like to do." I opened a portal to Pern so Uranus could see a little of what Pern looks like. "They can either shapeshift by way of their Companion or I can give them all Normalization, which as I told you earlier, makes them appear to everyone as normal people or they just look exotic. Although, I will give them Normalization no matter where they live." I informed Uranus.

Uranus looked at me without saying anything for several moments. "Even the gods can't travel to different universes. How is it possible for you to be able to do such a thing?" Uranus asked me.

I hung my head and shook it from side to side in frustration. "I really need to record the answer to that question." I said, then I looked back at Uranus. "I was given the ability to travel to different universes when I was in a life-threatening accident. That was when I was given the ability to give people Companions as well. I don't know who gave me the abilities, they never said who they are." I told Uranus.

Again, Uranus just looked at me. I'm guessing he was thinking. "These Companions you talked about. What else are they able to do?" Uranus asked me.

"Usually, each person can pick from several abilities for their Companion. Such as extra strength, higher agility, shapeshifting and even some magic. Those are only a few of the things they can choose from. Plus, there are two levels for most of the abilities. Example: Level one strength the Companions and their partner's strength increases by three times. With level two strength, their strength increases three times greater than the level one strength." I tried to explain how creating a Companions works. I also closed the portal to Pern. I didn't want anything coming through the portal to Orario.

"Yes, I believe I understand some about these Companions you are talking about. You would be able to give each member of the Xenos a Companion so they could change into a human of some kind?" Uranus asked me.

I grinned. It looked like Uranus was leaning towards giving the Xenos Companions so they can live on the surface. "It would take a little bit of time, but yes, I can give every member of the Xenos their own Companion with the ability to change into a human or demi-human." I agreed. "I would like to talk to each of the Xenos to see what they want their Companion to be able to do. So, it would take a little while, but I can spend two or three days in the dungeon with them to do that. And they would still be able to go back into the dungeon so they can look for more Xenos. The Hestia Familia would gladly look for new Xenos every time we go into the Dungeon as well." I added as an incentive to give the Xenos's their own Companions.

"I will think about your offer. I will have Fels let you know what my decision is." Uranus told me. I was guessing it was also Uranus way of dismissing us.

"Tomorrow we'll be taking Wiene back into the dungeon to meet the Xenos. She already knows I have a mission for her while she is down there. The Ikelos Familia is capturing Xenos and other monsters and selling them on the black market. Wiene is to let me know when she hears the screams of a new Xenos so I can capture some of the Ikelos members. After that the Loki Familia can take care of the rest of the Ikotos Familia and the Knossos dungeon." I said, then I lowered the stone pillar Wiene, and I were standing on. "Go ahead and change back to your demi-human form." I told Wiene and I reestablished her Normalization. I looked in the direction we had come in to see if Fels was there to escort us out.

I stopped and turned back to Uranus. "On a separate note. Dionysus is Enyo and Demeter is helping him out. Demeter is being blackmailed into helping Dionysus out. Thanatos is involved in the Kanossos dungeon and Evilus as well." I informed Uranus.

Uranus looked at me with his usual blank stare.

I turned back around and followed Fels out.

Back at Hearthstone Mansion, Hestia, Welf, Bell, Haruhime, Mikoto and my Team greeted us at the front door. As soon as I was in the living room, they all started asking me questions at the same time. I couldn't understand what they were saying with all of them talking at once. I put up my hands to get them to stop talking. They finally quieted down.

I looked at Hestia, since she is the head of the Familia. I gave her the chance to talk first. "Lady Hestia go ahead and ask your questions." I said.

"Where did you go?" Hestia asked me.

"I went to talk to Uranus about the Xenos who are intelligent monsters that live in the dungeon. They are like Wiene in that matter. I believe Welf and Bell ran into one of the Xenos when they went into the Dungeon the other day." I said and looked at Bell and Welf.

"I think you're right. We ran into something or someone that told us we smell of their brethren, or something like that. It flew off after that. We gave one of the feathers we found when it flew away to lady Hestia." Welf said.

"I'm guessing it was either a Harpy or a Siren." I suggested. "And if it was a Xenos it would not attack you unless you attacked it first." I informed them.

That evening we started preparations to go to the twentieth floor of the Dungeon on the next night. It would take less than half a day to get to the 20th floor and back, but you always want to err on the side of caution. None of us needed food or water so the main thing we needed were weapons and armor. And that was not a big problem because I had already given everyone their own Hestia weapon.

In preparation I also gave Wiene a couple of books of martial arts from the Armory. I also found a flanged mace for Wiene with a bonding Rune, an Extended Range Rune, and an Ice Creation and Control Rune on it.

Both Haruhime and Wiene are not very good at fighting, so with the books and the weapons from the Armory they will both have ten years of experience in martial arts and their weapons. So, if nothing else they will be able to defend themselves if it is called for. I also suggested that Bell and everyone else read the books on martial arts. That will help Bell since he fights mainly with knives at very close range.

I had also given Haruhime one of the grimoires so she could get a new spell. It worked just as I hoped it would. Haruhime's new spell gives her nine tails so she can raise up the levels of nine different people at the same time. Although it will only give her five tails to begin with. More will be added as she ranks up and gets more experience using the spell.

The letter told us to go into the dungeon at midnight. So, we started out walking to Babel Tower shortly before midnight. Once we were on the first floor, I ported everyone to a secluded area on the 18th floor. From there we headed on to the 19th floor.

We were finding more monsters than normal. Although I don't think they are as bad if Wiene didn't have Normalization and was in her natural form.

"Haruhime, Wiene, I want the two of you to use the Elemental Control your weapons give you to go after anything that flies." I instructed Haruhime and Wiene. "And everyone, remember you can use the Breath Weapon of your Companion, so use that as much as you want or need to." I told the group. I looked at Wiene. "And using the Breath Weapon goes for you as well Wiene." I said and gave her a wink and a smile to reassure her.

"I'll protect Wiene, Lili and Haruhime. We'll start with Bell and his Team in the front, while my Team will bring up the rear. We'll change positions after a while. And of course, Lili, Haruhime and Wiene are in the middle." I gave the marching orders. I know Bell is the 'Captain', but he doesn't really like being in that position so I've appointed myself Vice-Captain to help Bell out and to take that weight off of his shoulders.

Right before we went down to the 20th floor Haruhime used her magic to raise her level, along with Lili's level. Otherwise, they would not be able to go down to the 20th floor.

We didn't have our Companions with us this time because we left them at Hearthstone Manor with Hestia to help guard Hestia and the Manor for us.

We ran into, or should I say, they found us, more often than not. Gun Libellula - Dragonfly monsters that shoot projectiles from its abdomen, Dark Fungus - Mushroom monsters that use poisonous spores, Mad Beetles - Insect monster that walks on its hind legs, Bugbears - A giant bear like creature that is fast and strong, Battle Boars - Giant Boars, Lizardmen - large lizards that walk on their hind legs and Firebirds - a large flaming bird.

It feels like we encountered groups of fifteen to thirty monsters every time we turned around. And it wasn't just one kind of monster, there were two to four different kinds of monsters every time we were attacked.

Once we were on the 20th floor, we followed the map the guild had given us. It led us to a general area, but there was no evidence of an entrance to where the Xenos were.

"Wiene, you need to take your natural form. We're here to take you to the Xenos and they'll expect you to be a monster as well." I told Wiene.

Wiene looked sad, as if she would rather stay in her demi-human form. "If you want me to, I will." Wiene told me.

I put an arm around Wiene and gave her a hug. "I love you no matter what form you're in, Wiene. Demi-Human or Vouivre it doesn't matter to me. But, since we're going to the Xenos village it would be better if you looked the part, that being in your Vouivre form." I told Wiene, and I gave her another hug and I kissed her on the top of her head.

Wiene gave me a big smile. "I love you Eilwyn." She said in just above a whisper and she changed into her Vouivre form.

Wiene stood still for a moment and listened. "I hear singing." She told us.

We were in a chamber with quartz crystals all over the place. On one wall there is a large amount of quartz crystals with an odd-looking crystal in the middle.

I pointed to the crystal. "That's the entrance." I said and looked at Welf.

Welf looked around as if he was trying to see who I was looking at. Then he pointed at himself with a questioning expression on his face.

I nodded my head, yes and pointed at Welf again.

Welf shrugged his shoulders took ahold of the hilt of his sword and pulled it off his back. A moment later he swung his sword at the odd-looking crystal, and it shattered. When the crystal shattered an opening appeared in the Dungeon wall.

Once everyone was within the tunnel. "You should know, some of the Xenos don't believe we are friendly, and they all will attack us to prove we'll protect Wiene at all cost. Just go along with it. Although don't try to kill any of them." I informed everyone.

"They're going to attack us?" Bell asked.

I nodded my head in agreement. "For a short time. Once they accept that we'll protect Wiene no matter what, they'll stop their attack. And don't be afraid of hurting them, don't hold back."

"That sounds like fun." Welf said sarcastically.

I led the way into the new tunnel. As we were walking. "Light bright." I said and five orbs of light appeared in a ten-foot circle around our group over our heads, so we didn't need to use a magic stone lantern.

"This cavern isn't on the map." Lili informed us.

"That's because we're the first humans to enter this way." I told Lili and the others.

"Really? I would have though every foot of this floor had been explored." Mikoto said.

"My understanding is the dungeon 'built' these villages for the Xenos to live in, so they won't be attacked by monsters or humans." I announced.

"There isn't anything in here and there's no way out." Welf said.

Mikoto saw a pool of water or small pond. "Lord Eilwyn, can you move one of the lights over by that pool of water?" Mikoto asked me.

"Move it to where you want it." I replied releasing one of the light orbs for Mikoto to use.

Mikoto moved the orb to just over the pond. She looked at the pond for a moment or two. "There's a passage in the water." She told us.

"That means we have to swim to get to the village?" Bell asked.

"That's the way it looks. And remember because of your Companion's abilities you don't need to breath, so swimming through the passage shouldn't be any problem." I reminded everyone.

I started putting everything I was carrying into my closet PD.

When everyone was ready, Mikoto walked into the water and waited for the rest of us to follow her. I followed Mikoto and the others followed after me. I kept ahold of Wiene's hand to keep her close to me.

Following Mikoto we swam through the underwater passage, at one point there is a fork in the passage. Mikoto followed the passage with light coming from it. Shortly we were climbing out of the water into a dark chamber. The only light is coming from the light spell I had used in the last chamber.

"I see something." Welf stated. Everyone took a defensive stance.

"Wiene, stay behind me. Linna, keep guard on Wiene." I said as I summoned Sasori.

"I will." Wiene replied.

My saying "Let's go." Was like a trigger causing the Xenos to come at us in force. A Lizardman, Siren, Gargoyle, Harpy, Goblin, War Shadow and a Lamia, came at us with a vengeance.

I stayed in front of Wiene to protect her from getting hurt. The Harpy flew up and slapped her wings together in front of herself, causing dozens of projectiles to fly at me and Wiene.

I put up a telekinetic shield in front of us, preventing the barrage from reaching us. "Nice try, good looking!" I yell at the harpy as I dropped the shield.

Fia, the Harpy jerked back slightly almost as if I had hit her. But her face turned red as well.

A War Shadow ran at me swinging his's arms. I dodged to the side. "Olay!" I said as he ran past me. 'I should save that for when I'm fighting a Minotaur, not a War Shadow.' I thought and gave a mental shrug. I turned to make sure he didn't go after Wiene. I hit him with the stinger on my scorpion tail. It contains a paralysis poison so it won't hurt the War Shadow, it will only prevent him from moving. Unless I decided to sting him four or five times, then his heart and lungs would stop working.

At that time, I hear a ringing, so I look over towards Bell. He is charging up his 'Argonaut' skill. A moment later Bell punches the Lizardman, Lydo, causing him to fly backwards slamming into the cave wall.

After a second or two Lydo starts laughing. "GAH-GA-GA-GA-GA-HA-HA-HA-HA! Upsy daisy!" He said as he pushes himself into a sitting position. "That was great. I've never met adventurers like you before."

"See, I told you Lydo," Rei the siren said as she flew down beside Lydo. "They are different from the others."

Shocked and surprised. "Wait, aren't you…" Welf started.

"I'm delighted to see you again. My dear friend." Rei told Welf.

"I should have never doubted you, Rei. These adventurers really are something else." Lydo told Rei then he turned to talk to us. "My bad, you guys, we were just testing you." Lydo told us.

"Testing us? Bell said as he glanced at me before turning back to Lydo and Rei.

"We were curious about the type of adventurers that would bother to protect one of our brethren. And if you would abandon her when the going gets tough." Lydo said as he scratched the side of his face with one on his claws. "I didn't mean to scare you or hurt you so badly. Sorry about that. Thanks a million for keeping her safe this whole time."

I stepped forward. "About that. Wiene isn't going to be staying with y'all very long. After she finishes her 'quest' she'll be coming back to live with us." I told Lydo and Rei.

"What do you mean? She can't live up above." Lydo stated.

"Wiene can and she wants to. I've talked to Uranus about something I can do that will allow her and all of the Xenos to be able to live above ground." I told them. "Although I have to wait until Uranus gives me the go ahead before I can do that for y'all." I told them.

Lydo's and Rei's eye got big. "What do you mean the Xenos can live above ground!?" Rei asked excitedly.

"If Uranus gives the OK, I can do something that will allow all of the Xenos to live above round and you won't have to worry about being attacked because your 'monsters'." I informed them. "But as I already said, that will have to wait. For now, Wiene will be staying with y'all for a little while."

"But I will give you a hint. You've seen the Cat running around Wiene?" I asked. Lydo and Rei nodded their heads, yes. "That cat is part of what will allow Wiene and the rest of you to live above ground." I told them.

"How can a cat allow us to live above ground?" Rei asked.

I turned to Wiene and called to her. "Wiene! Would you and Linna please come here?" I asked.

"Coming Eilwyn." Wiene called back as she stood up and walked over to me, Lydo and Rei, with Linna following her. "What do you want, Eilwyn?" Wiene asked me.

"Would you ask Linna to change into her dog form, please?" I asked Wiene.

Wiene looked down at Linna. "Dog form please." She told Linna and a moment later Linna changed from her snow leopard form to her Bouvier da Flounders form.

Lydo and Rei jumped in shock and surprise.

"How can it do that!?" Lydo asked almost demanding.

I chuckled. "Some Companions are able to shapeshift and Linna can do just that. One of her forms is a Bouvier da Flounders, or a dog. And another form she can take is a demi-human form." I informed them.

"So, this animal can shapeshift. How is that going to help us live above ground?" Rei asked somewhat accusatorily.

I grinned at Rei. "Because anything a Companion can do, their partner can do as well. Which means, Wiene can change into a cat form, a dog form and a Chienthrope form. So, while she's above ground, she can stay in her Chientrhope form, and no one will know she's a monster." I assure Rei and Lydo.

"And before you ask. I can give every Xenos, that wants one, a Companion. After Uranus gives the ok. Although if he says no, I could still give y'all Companions and he really won't know. And if he did find out, we'll deal with that when and if it happens. But to put up a good appearance, I'll wait until he says yes or no." I told them. "But I would keep this quiet until Uranus let's me know one way or the other."

Rei and Lydo look at each other with shock and surprise on their faces along with a little excitement. Well, it's mainly Rei that has those expressions on her face, but I'm guessing Lydo would have the same expressions if he was able to.

"Yes, yes, we will not say anything until you know if you can or not give us these Companions." Rei stated.

I nodded my head in agreement.

Rei looked at Lido. "Is it getting close to time to eat?" She asked him.

"Well yes, yes, it is… It's time to eat!" Lydo called out.

The Xenos started gathering items and preparing food. They didn't need to build fires because they had hellhounds that can heat up and cook food with their fire breath. In short order we were all sitting on what looks like bleachers that are in a 'U' shape, being served food.

After eating Rei sang for everyone. Fia joined her and Mikoto, Wiene, Iris and Haruhime danced along to the singing. After a couple songs, I joined in the dancing. I danced with each of the girls in turn. I taught Rei the song 'Granma's Feather Bed'.

When I was a little bitty boy Just up off the floor We used to go down to Grandma's house Every monthend or so We'd have chicken pie and country ham And homemade butter on the bread But the best darn thing about Grandma's house Was her great big feather bed

We spent a little more time talking, singing and dancing. But we finally had to head home.

"We need to head out." Bell told Lydo.

"It was good seeing all of you. Do come back soon." Lydo told Bell and the rest of us.

"We will. We'll come back as soon as we can." Bell assured Lydo.

While the others were saying their goodbyes. I talked to Wiene. "Remember to give me a call when you hear the screams when you and the Xenos move to the new village." I reminded her.

"I will." She said with a sad look on her face. "I wish I could go back with you, Eilwyn."

"I would like that too, but we need to help another new Xenos. And to do that, you have to stay here. But like I told you, you can talk to me every day." I told Wiene and tapped my temple, indicating telepathy. "And it won't be very long before you're back home. Besides while you're here, they can teach you about the Dungeon." I added.

"Okay, I'll do my best. I love you Eilwyn." Wiene told me.

I put my arms around Wiene and hugged her tight. "I love you too Wiene, and you'll be back home really soon." I told Wiene and took my arms from around her.

Saying our final goodbyes, we headed back to the entrance of the Hidden Village. Once we were back in the Dungeon proper, I ported everyone to the first floor. We walked the rest of the way out and back to Hearthstone Manor. I didn't port us directly back to the manor because I'm sure Fels was watching us through the oculous in the dome over the Dungeon entrance.
