Miraculous Adventurer Au 3: Time to spill the tea!

So...anyone remember back here when I said "this AU is still alive and kicking"? Yeah it's kicking alright. Kicking and screaming as I drag it out of my WIP pile! Welcome back to the show everyone, it's been a while! If you guys want a recap of what this Au is about (+ the Origins episode) I highly encourage you to go read part 2 of this Au here. Yes, I did just link it twice. No, I don't care. Anyway, this is just an info/idea dump for this AU, because it was in my head yesterday and refuses to let me write anything until I rant about it!

First off, I wanna explain the magic system a little better. People don't have actual "classes" like DnD, they just happen to be good at certain things and not great at others, just like real-life proficiencies! There's plenty of types of elemental magic like Water, Fire, Wind, Earth, Thunder, Light, Dark, etc. but not all of them can be casted by humans. Some magic subtypes are excusive to certain races (for example plant-related Earth magic is a druid-only thing), and others are very very rare, to the point where only a few people in the whole world can use a certain type of spells. It doesn't really need to go beyond "medieval fantasy magic", so I'm trying not to overcomplicate it. You're here for the characters and the lore, anyway.

Secondly, let's talk characters! I have almost everyone from the Miraculous Cast making an appearance in this AU, some as adventurers who encounter the Core 4 party (Ladybug, Chat Noir, Carapace and Rena Rouge), some as other roles! Here's a short list to give you an idea of what everyone does! Oh, and I should mention that everyone is in their early to mid twenties here, concerning taverns and the like. The legal drinking age in Medieval Fantasy Land is 18, so we're all good.

Marinette: Adventurer and aspiring fashion designer, travels with "Team Miraculous", including Chat Noir, Nino and Alya. Her adventurer name is Ladybug, and she really didn't mean to get wrapped up in all this hero business. Turns out wanting some extra cash can really go arwy if you tango with the local cat enthusiast. Marinette is the daughter of two bakers from a backwater village, and has always dreamed of being a famous seamstress in the Capital. Now an adult and having saved up for the trip, she ends up in a small town not far from her own home. Wanting additional funds for when she eventually arrives at the city of her dreams, Marinette decides to offer her services to any adventurer whose clothing might need adjustment or repair. Surely this won't lead to her signing up with the Guild, right? Cue the Origins episode from part 2.

Adrien: Son to Gabriel and Emilie Agreste, Prince of the Kingdom. Isolated in his childhood to be protected from political scheming, Adrien has only a few friends that he can rely on. His cousin Felix, and a rich noble girl named Chloe Bourgeois who took an interest in him when they were children. A few months ago, he recieved a marriage proposal from an eastern kingdom, and his parents introduced him to Princess Kagami, a stoic but passionate girl who he becomes fast friends with. But one day, tired and suffocated by his palace life, Adrien seeks to live out his own life away from rules and regulations. With the help of his betrothed and cousin, he and Felix switch places, allowing Adrien to don the mask of Chat Noir and freely travel as an adventurer.

Alya: A girl from a small village in the outskirts of the Kingdom, Alya has a high potential for magic powers. Unfortunately, no matter what type she tries to cast, she has great difficulty with even the simplest of spells, leading her to develop a desire to discover mysteries and the arcane as a way to try out new methods of manifesting this supposed potential. During an encounter with Ladybug and Chat Noir, Alya finds out she's proficient in Illusion Magic, for which a caster hasn't been seen in at least a century.

Nino: Childhood friend and later boyfriend to Alya, who happily supports her mystery solving and looks after his fiery and lovable girlfriend. Has a talent for music and defensive magic, and is a local bard. He knows their small village won't keep Alya occupied forever, and once she manifests her illusion magic, decides to follow in the footsteps of the adventurers who saved her and travel the land at Alya's side.

Chloe: Daughter to a backwater Baron, she's been spoiled her whole life in lieu of any parental attention. Her mother is famous in the world of high society, and so Chloe often gets invited to balls and functions where she presents herself as cold and untouchable despite her techincally low station. Once meeting the young prince Adrien, Chloe felt he was unprepared to deal with the "snakes" of the royal court, and took to being an overprotective friend through their childhoods. She still has unresolved anger issues regarding parental figues, and is extremely jealous of a village girl named Marinette, whose town her father's manor happens to be near, for having the loving parents she's always wanted.

Felix: Cousin to Prince Adrien and son of the late Duke Fathom of Lunden. Coming from a prestigious family and looking almost identical to his cousin due to the Graham De Vanily family having historically superior genetics, Felix is not much different than other nobles in terms of attitude. Cold, calculative and extremely cunning, he thrives in situations where backhanded compliments and polite threats are the norm. Having been isolated from the world by his father to be moulded into the "perfect heir", Felix lacks proper social skills, making up for this fault with sarcasm and quick wit.

Kagami: Princess to one of the Eastern Kingdoms, Kagami Tsurugi is the daughter of a queen despised by her people. Perhaps using her last bit of sense, Tomoe Tsurugi has sent her away to be married off to a western prince, who surprisingly turns out to be quite sweet and kind-hearted. However, while she could see herself and Prince Adrien becoming great friends, there exists no true spark of love between them despite his parents' enthusiastic support of their engagement. Kagami is stoic and prefers those who refuse to hesitate or mince their words...and happens to fall in love with exactly such a man. Adrien's cousin Felix, who quickly falls for her in turns during the few short weeks of wedding preparations. Explanaing the situation to Felix's mother and Kagami's fiance, the four devise a plan to ensure everyone gets their happy ending. With Adrien hurrying away to a life of adventure, Kagami is left to adjust to court life with Felix at her side, needing only to ensure Gabriel and Emilie don't realize their son is not who he seems...

Luka: Travelling bard and former boyfriend to one Marinette Dupain Cheng, what Luka lacks in magical profiency is made up for with great empathy and a golden heart. Coming from the family of a famous pirate, Luka sought to venture the world by land, and make a legitimate living unlike his mother, Anarka. Trusting the retired pirate queen with the safety of his younger sister Juleka, Luka left home to travel, and happened upon a village girl he quickly fell in love with. Despite their mutual feelings for one another, Luka still had big dreams of performing in the royal capital someday, and asked Marinette to come with him so they could be together. Unwilling to abandon all she's ever known, she refused his offer, leading to a mutual breakup. Two years later, Luka happens to visit Marinette's home town again, only to realize she's left it behind. Determined to find his one true love, Luka sets out to find out where she's gone, making new friends along the way.

Okay, that's it for the main cast! I have some details about the secondary characters such as Alix, Kim, Mylene, Ivan, miss Bustier, etc. but I'll add them at a later post. If you're interested in someone specific, feel free to shoot me an ask!

Thirdly and lastly, the storyline! I'll be honest, it doesn't necessarily have to be concrete! Since Gabriel is a standup guy and his wife is very much alive, there is no Hawkmoth! I won't spoil if Lila is or isn't here, that's for a later post, but aside from her...there isn't really a villain here. The Adventurer Au is only meant to be a light-hearted slice-of-life type of story, with the occasional beats thrown in regarding the Lore. For example, Alya and Nino becoming adventurers and quickly joining up with Ladynoir to form Team Miraculous. Chloe calling them back to her manor for a job, and joining up with the gang as Queen Bee for a short time. Ladybug bumping into Luka at some point. The Team finally arriving at the Capital, where Marinette has to wrestle between staying with her friends or going after her dreams. Obviously much more, and I do have an entire plotline about what happens when they finally arrive at the Capital regarding Adrien/Chat Noir, Felix and Kagami! That's actually going to be the subject matter next time, since I really want to share it with everyone! Until then, Stay Miraculous!

Had a random musing about what RPG class Chloe would be, (Likely in a group with Adrien & Sabrina) then went on a big digression into another setting, but!

I've settled on three options rooted in vibe, personality, social position, themes and skills as of S1-3 Chloe with no alterations.

Rogue - She wouldn't call herself as such, but given her family I can see "Determine if your drink is poisoned" and "Always have something sharp in each" are useful lessons. One that would expand into lock picking, forging, stealth and so on.

This fits because Chloe can come up with convoluted pans for sabotage, is fine being underhanded or stealing, can be quite ruthless, often rather to work around rather than through problems, is very acrobatic and Venom aligns well with poison's. Plus I feel like daggers suit her well.

Paladin - The only knight equivalent I could see her going for and largely by accident. It'd due to the fact studying religion would be deemed acceptable for someone of her station, but Chloe's not good at the healing. gentle side. She is however very aggressive and zealously dedicated to those she loves & reveres.

Thus I think with the right religious magic system she'd both start gaining power. Then for the fulfillment push forward and due to her aggressive personality pick up a sword or hammer and start swinging!

Sorcerer - The only magic class I feel fits. She's not hue into book learning, warlock deals and the like would be off brand for her unless she's falling, so not S1. But inborn magical power would both fit her sense of pride, but feel her insecurities about not being capable or worth anything outside her family.

Tied heavily to emotions, charisma and passion, with a great deal of raw power and flexibility, but a lack of technical refinement. I think it can fit. Though I also think she'd dislike sitting in the back lobbing spells.

As an aside -

Sabrina would probably be some kind of wizard or artifacer, but I could see her going archer. Adrien might go rogue, but I think a swashbuckler or monk like role fit best.

Kagami would have something similar to Adrien but leveled up. If he's a swashbuckler she's a kind of weapons master as she's more focused on the martial than he, but both share a background in blades.

The other main trio is tricky, but 'd probably put Alya as an illusionist or paladin given Rena and or her zealous dedication. Meanwhile Nino fits bard extremely well, but could maybe ne a hunter in terms of being good at making bonds with critter. Marinette is super hard, though artifacer or cleric feel very fitting.

Both the wu xing and the bagua have a main power?

All their powers are the main powers.

Though humans can wind up having 1 power as their main power, as I'm going to tweak things so kwamis have a lot more weight and significance to them. The Bagua and Wu Xing kwamis actually get to decide what power to share with a human, and that can come down to circumstances and what's going to fit with the human.

Like, for circumstance, I'm having Tikki's Lucky Charm be the source of the mass restoration, they just give it up once it's served it's purpose and there goes the luck based cure. Because the cure is needed, Tikki will prioritize sharing that power, and hope she's with a human that will work with it, at least decently.

Now depending on people, e.g. Trixx with Alya, she can tell that Alya wouldn't be the best illusionist, being too bold and wanting to be in the limelight, so of her three powers, she's going to offer Alya what will work with her best.

The kwamis will also get to decide when to share more of their power, whether that be the power is needed, they came to like the human enough to share more, or they feel the human has grown enough to know more and can be trusted to know more.

Au ideas or prompts for fellow fanfic writers writers for miraculous ladybug

Killer au: so basically marinette reaches her breaking point in post season 5 and actually kills Gabriel agreste (aka hawkmoth) she takes the miraculous of the butterfly.

Adrien witnessed the murder by getting out of the room he was locked in. Adrien thinks that ladybug can make a wish to bring his father back.

Adrien: ladybug please bring him it's just a small wish right?

Ladybug: someone has to die if want him back plus it's better anyway no one can take you away from me *she says detransforming into marinette one eye of her was red and tikki and plagg looked horrified*.

Adrien: mari...marinette how are you ladybug and why father!!?

Marinette: it's me now that you know who I am we can be together!!

Tikki: adrien run away from her!! .

Adrien: marinette relax it's it was just a self defence kill hehe *he sees marinette use tikki's power without the miraculous or saying lucky charm to create a short scythe*, marinette please put your weapon down you might be akumatized.

Marinette: AKUMATIZED we are supposed to be talking about love, I see maybe you are a sentimonster made by him to trick me * she brutally sliced his hands but he fought back but in the end he lost his limbs were on the floor blood uzing out and his was smashed into a pool of bones, blood and flesh.

Bunnix: what the hell happened to this place it thought it was a default timeline *she knocked this version of marinette and set her to a white place* done.

Meanwhile the unconscious killed was dragged by what looked like an akumatized marinette through a portal after bunnix left her.

Alastor marinette au

So this starts in season 1 instead of marinette being late. She gets to school early and doesn't meet master fu on the way adrien received the black cat miraculous and another random 15 year old civilian receiving the ladybug miraculous instead. Marinette and alya become friends and marinette sees Ivan being bullied instead of helping she sees adrien the perfect boy and her future husband. They go to class and Ivan gets akumatized adrien transformed and together with random ladybug fight stone heart and win while marinette ran to the library and hid behind a book shelf a book fell on her she opens it and reads that she can sign contracts with friendly creatures or request something from them.

Marinette opened the book and saw many options:

Marinette decided to go with alastor because she could not read clearly.

Alastor: hello my dear would you like request something from me.

Marinette: well sorry for disturbing you mister well I have a crush on adrien agreste you see.

Marinette: thank god it's not expensive hehe I don't have a lot of money.

Alastor uses his magic on adrian it failed due the miraculous protection but it did not matter as long he had finished his part of the deal marinette's soul belongs to him.

Alastor: I'm than I'm dear now it's time to pay * alastor uses voodoo to possess marinette body*

Alanette: this body is nice I love it.

Master fu: I sensed a demon.

Yeah, just as a brief note as I’m writing some of these palace/shadow descriptions. I’m pretty much making every shadow represent everything the gang is scared of becoming. Like Alix becomes a stage magician aka someone who’s an illusionist without real magic. Chloe is shown as a stuttering cutesy servant who needs glasses. Alya is a detective in a world out to get her. Juleka is a haughty princess, Aurore is an idol with depraved fans, Sabrina is a mirror, Kagami is a heartbroken mess, etc

Twins

So, season 3 of Miraculous seems to have this theme of twins and there is often a bad connotation to them as a whole, or one half of them. 

In Timetagger we find out there are the evil twin queens of the inner dimension who resemble Alya’s younger twin sisters an awful lot. There was also Majestia’s evil sister which is like it’s going off of the cheap trope of evil twin because again, it’s just like Majestia was just in all black which I think was an attempt at a gag. 

Then with Felix... Felix and Adrien used to imitate each other when they were younger, and they do the same this episode just with different motives. We discover that Felix isn’t a good person, though I have no idea if he was sincere with Adrien at the end. We also find out that Emilie too, was a twin with her sister Amelie, and there are the twin rings...

You could also argue about the clones of Ladybug that occur as well throughout the series are also pertinent to this meta. Puppeteer 2 specifically comes to mind, however it gets more complex when it comes to Ladybug episode. 

What intrigues me the most though is those twin rings, because there seems to be some kind of magic attached to them. There is also a greater reason for why Amelie wanted them back as well. I understand that they are the Graham de Vanily rings, and that nobody really knows what has happened to Emilie except Gabriel and probably Natalie, but there is something more there. Felix is also linked to being a Magician and an illusionist, it’s intriguing. I imagine that they have magical property of some kind.

So why does Miraculous have this trope? 

You could argue that it is cheap (it kinda is, ngl), but I have to admit, when it comes down to the Graham de Vanily family, I immediately want to know more. Probably because they are so elusive. It’s also Adrien’s family, and it’s about time there was more of him discovering stuff about his own family. Season 3 also had a theme of Adrien disobeying his father, or just flat out not telling him. This continues into season, but also he is growing less trustful of his father (Megaleech). Adrien deserves to know about his family history, and if Felix is coming back this season, I hope he asks him, because Felix obviously knows more than him. It’s also highly suspicious that Felix’s father has now died soon after Emilie has disappeared, as is the fact that Adrien and Felix are so alike... 

We don’t know what the intentions are of Amelie, she wanted them for Felix and I believe she is mostly genuine in that fact, but why is Felix got so much negativity in his character? Amelie was also seemingly sickeningly sweet as well. Emilie seems to be set up that she was more complex than the version that Adrien has of her. She possibly has more of a disingenuous nature, or double life. The reason why I am saying this is because there is a theme with bad things happening with twins, and it wouldn’t surprise me if the Graham de Vanily family was corrupt, and that Either both Emilie and Amelie were of ill intent to an extent, or that one of them is/was.

I have the opinion that Emilie knew of the miraculous because of those rings and actively sought them out.

In the shanghai special, Gabriel says that he wants to go after the Prodigious because it may help him defeat Ladybug and Chat Noir and will help him get closer to the goal he set out with 15 years ago... 

So Adrien is confirmed 14, so this started a year before he was born (take this as you will of this in regards to the sentimonster theory). We know the Miraculous must have been found a couple of years before the present day because of the decline of Emilie and also the trip that Gabriel and she went on to Tibet as one of their last trips. So I suppose Gabriel could have instigated. I just wonder whether Solitude is the precursor to finding the Miraculous. It all combines with Solitude.

Give it some love! It’s fabulous!!!

The rings just caught my attention above everything else. It’s from the official Polish Miraculous channel. They also create some of the official posters for miraculous as well. Doing the first season 4 poster and the official shanghai special poster as well. So I found this rather credible. You see Felix and Lila by ShadowMoth/Gabriel, there is also Master Fu, but I find it interesting about Ladybug not being fully in the frame. I also find Alya extremely interesting in the is, ad having the rainbow in the middle, cutting off Chat Noir (whether it be family or about sides/split idk) and then also the rings being one on either side. This is what is said about it on youtube as Olchus said that he created this poster for fun, it doesn’t mean anything. I just like it!

The rings are elusive, but is clearly directly involved with Twins as well.

- Not only are Tikki and Plagg teachers, but they also help create gadgets that can remove Akuma Magic from someone & magical weapons & outfits that help them stand a chance against the Akuma Army.

- Those that are saved by the Akuma Revolters, are taken care of by parents of the Revolters (Tom & Sabine, Marlena & Otis, etc).

- Those that were saved from the Akuma Army are giving free therapy to talk about their feelings and their experience in the Akuma Army. Adrien's gonna be there for a while.

Marinette - Mastermind. I will not hear any argument. She can do other things, but I can roll with this one.

Adrien - Either Hacker or Thief. Hacker because I remember AGES ago someone else made an AU where LB was the only hero and Adrien became a vigilante hacker to help her. But it makes sense as Adrien would be holed up in his room all the time and would learn hacking skills. I say Thief because I cannot resist the Cat Burglar pun.

Alya - Grifter or Hacker. Grifter because it fits in with Canon on her being our Fox Illusionist. Hacker because technology is her thing and also Lady Wifi

Nino - Honestly I could roll with anything for him?

Chloé - The only one I'm eliminating from her is hacker because that's not her vibe. But the other three could actually work. Grifter because she learned how to navigate social things, especially high-society they'd be infiltrating. Thief because she'd love the thrill and attention. Hitter because self-defense classes can get WILD.

Is Alya a restoration mage or does she just know healing hands?

Since you asked so nicely I'll give you the context paragraph of why I enjoy Alya healing Nino so much :D (it is Skyrim-typical levels of violent, which is better than some other parts of the fic, but I assume that you will be okay with that since you seem to know Skyrim well enough, but for anyone who doesn't be warned)

Quickly, as he bashed his shield at the draugr, she prepared healing hands — this one was always particularly difficult, and she'd struggled with restoration more than any other schools. The skin of her fingertips started to heat up, and she felt the magicka seeping from her spine bit by bit by bit — until slowly, she could aim the magicka at Nino.

Alya is an illusionist, but she does know some basic conjuration and restoration. No mention of destruction or alteration is made in the fic but that doesn't mean I won't do anything with it.

You think that alya,kagami or nino would fit the butterfly,fox or turtle? Which one of them would fit each better?

yeah this is something you should really ponder, and honestly you're not going to like my answer much.

Nino would be best with Butterfly, cause he is empathetic, he is supportive, and he does like to lift people up but typically doesn't over reach. Kagami just isn't good for Butterfly. Alya can lift people up and inspire them, but she also takes over, she gets too pushy and inconsiderate and deaf to others and their feelings, which can lead to people either turning into super villains or refusing her butterfly.

Nino is also the only one I would vote for Fox. He can treat illusions like they're films to play out, he'll have the creative mindset and the subtlety to pull it off. Alya is not the ideal illusionist. She wants to be in the limelight, and to be the trickster Fox requires, you need subtlety, which Alya lacks. And Kagami I don't see inclined to be a trickster and creator of illusions.

Kagami works best with a Miraculous that's going to let her be aggressive, to be involved in fights, to be direct. Alya is along the same page, though she's not as aggressive.

For this reason, Turtle is the best bet for either girl.

Assuming Miraculous will adjust extend to close personal items, Kagami's rapier can enhance to a sword, making her a sword and shield user. Turtle will have that defense to back her offense, letting her having protection while she gets involved in fights. Though I don't see her actively going out of her way protecting others.

Same appeal with Alya, who does want to be in the limelight and be a big hero, Turtle offers that defense to be in the direct line. And she's going to be a more active protector as she likes to be the source of salvation, likes to be the one people look towards to save their day and make things right.

So, unfortunately, from my stance, you don't have a good believable match up for the 3 characters and 3 Miraculous you want to pair up. You can go OOC with characters to make things work, you stick with it and work with the struggles, it could lead to character growth, or you mix things up more and change up the Miraculous or characters.
