It snapped, the illusions fading away. It just continued to step closer.

“He’s not even fighting to get control back! Seems I broke his spirits down enough last time. He knows his place.”

See Frieren x Himmel is canonically doomed and that's part of the overall narrative, Frieren will outlive almost everyone she ever meets but she slowly starts to build more and more relationships in spite of that and Himmel was one of the biggest catalysts in her changing in this way

But they also have this "this is how it can still win" vibe to it because Frieren is literally traveling to the afterlife specifically to visit Himmel, and along the way she's changing and very slowly embracing love in all these different forms from the people around her, one of which was from Himmel

So it's doomed but it still feels like they'll definitely have a happy ending too, it's an interesting dynamic

Did Soren coach Lujanne on what to say. How to sound, how to speak, how to move. A boy's memories of his mother 15 years removed. Take the bits of Viren's apology that no one knows happen, the bits that stuck with him despite himself, things he remembers Claudia saying over the years, and said, "Do this." Did they consider using butterflies, but someone (Terry? Soren? other?) say that if Claudia did choose to embrace this fake version of her mother, it needed to feel solid. It needed to feel real. So they put a real person under the illusion. They put real people (Soren, and potentially his wish fulfilment, and his father, and his belief in what Claudia would want to hear as wish fulfilment, the ghost of his sister who's still carrying on dad's legacy rather than their own) underneath.

I LOVE THE PARALLELS BETWEEN KYOKO & HITOMI WITHIN THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH SAYAKA. THE FACT THEYRE JEALOUS OF EACH OTHER BECAUSE THEY THINK OF EACH OTHER AS SAYAKA'S FRIEND. THE FACT THEY BOTH FEEL AT FAULT FOR SAYAKA'S DEATH. IM GONNA BE SIICCKKKKKK

I think what fucks me up the most about the Malevolence arc is that at some level - that early in the war - the venerators have to have felt SAFE you know? It takes a lot to breach a venerator and even more to actually disable it. And it's one thing to know something isn't as safe as it feels but it's another to have that demonstrated. and then even the failsafes aren't safe because you can still be hunted. And you're impossibly vulnerable because all that's between you and a bad death are several inches of steel and glass.

IDK man I just keep thinking about the Malevolence and wonder if Boost, Sinker and Wolffe ever actually felt safe on a star ship again.

I was rereading your amazing AUs and a thought occurred to me. The main divergent difference between the two aus, Painted and Distorted, is if Tommy kills Tubbo or not.

But, Ranboo had been the one to pay for help, which had everyone arrive to help stop Dream.

Perhaps earlier in the Distorted timeline there was a word or action that made the difference between Ranboo getting help or not (Or just plot reasons), but what would have happened if everyone had shown up after Tommy killed Tubbo?

Oughh Some strange neutral route would happen i guess…

This would be the only au where Dream is imprisoned instead of killed, since Tommy is too shocked and wouldn’t have let go of Tubbo. I think Tubbo would still be revived eventually, clingy would be on better terms. Tommy isn’t left to fester so he’s in a better state than in Di but worse than in Pi. Neutral middle route sskdhdj
