Working on a worldbuilding project for someone like me is an absolute nightmare because the "writer" side of me wants to get all the information written out so it's set in stone and there for myself and everyone else to see, but the artist side of me wants to get art done for things before I write about them so there's visual reference, but the neurodivergent part of me wants to do things in chunks and write lists and organise everything before I start writing and drawing in case I forget

DO I realistically need drawings of every character and symbols for every faction and references for every species before I can do anything? No. Is that going to stop me from crunching down on 300+ chibi heads and rarely anything else until they're done? No

Option 1:

Enemy: Pandemonium Goat Fiend, Lillith La Trix, Akarot

Episodes: C1 E73: Pandemonium

Time: 15:13-2:08:05

Finish: Mavrus (Goat), Hardwon (Lillith)

Notes: They ally themselves with Team Ren, some of whom immediately die. Mavrus fucking crushes it with Counterspell. Ren keeps hitting allies as he attempts to "help". The party splits between the basement and the main fight. Gladeholm falls out of the sky and Ren and Mavrus have to help save the city. Moonshine gets a nat 20 on the Thinking Cap. Bev makes friends by making up maneuvers.

Propaganda: (anonymous) The Mavrus counterspells, the struggle for the Thinking Cap, the oh shit moment when the All Caster is under attack, Ren and his bullshit, the knock down drag out fight that utterly drains the boobs,the incredible ambush on Akarot that nearly doesn't work, just the entire fight with Akarot in general. This was a brutal fight for the boobs and it nearly all went to shit. They barely saved the city but by god they did it

Option 2:

Enemy: The Hounds (Original)

Episode: C1 E54: Killing Blow

Time: 58:36-1:42:45

Finish: Balnor (the mage), Moonshine (and Balnor) (Zalek), Bev (Illex and Drisda)

Notes: Balnor gets to fight the people who killed his family. The dads obliterate the mage in round fucking one. Zalek has a death lance that is so fucking scary and then it kills Hardwon. Illex whips his allies. Bev crits on Zalek after Hardwon gets got. Hardwon has a vision of his possible after lives, including Gemma with Moradin, his dad with Kord, and his mom somewhere in Shadowfell. They really brutally kill all the enemies because they deserve it. Bev casts his first revivify, and Moonshine puts her boobs in Hardwon's face to entice him back to life.

For my pkmn AU, I'm going with the gen 2 setting, and kinda combining the crystal game + the pkmn 4Ever movie plots together, then adding my own twists. It was my favourite gen as a kid so it's the one I know and love best. I feel like the plot surrounding Celebi goes well with Barbs too.

So far I've got the idea that Sunny will start out as the canon does with helping Prof. Elm with taking the pkmn egg to Oak. From there it leads her to journey across the Johto region with the intent of researching pkmn, particularly the "normal" types that are later redefined as fairy types in gen 6. This ties in with the egg that ultimately hatches as togepi, which is one such normal to fairy type.

Barbs joins her early in her quest, even before it's a quest, right as she begins her errand for Elm. They meet in the woods along route 29 seemingly by coincidence (suspicious!). He doesn't outright ask to join at first, just kinda escorts her to Oak and back, but when she decides to embark on her proper journey he's like well can I come too? and so they travel together most of the time. Though once they reach illex forest, he mysteriously disappears and doesn't show up for a while.

This is because he's got a secret quest of his own, which is finding Celebi and potentially the other legendaries, but he doesn't disclose that until way later (when he knows he can fully trust Sunny).

Then we have Mephi. He replaces the games original rival, though he doesn't steal his starter pkmn, and takes on that role for the first part of the game. He initially appears on the way back from Oak. His gripe with Sunny is that he thinks he should be the one tasked with helping Elm, not her, and he wants to prove it by besting her. He gets pretty close to beating her in a battle, but protag privileges win. At first he's more antagonistic with a few more battles, but once the plot of Azalea town goes down, he and Sunny unite to stop the mistreatment of the slowpokes (and Mephi also adopts one!).

They then traverse Illex forest together, and become friends after that. But he remains to be distant and travels alone until much later (not sure precisely when yet), and then officially joins the party too. He's deeply interested in pkmn world history, so he's quite fascinated with the mystery of the ruins of alph, which is what motivates his journey (and initial jealousy of Sunny's role).

The other characters I'm adding are Sol.omon, Sim.eon and Luke as fellow trainers. Sol is a pkmn collector (he has 72 so far!) and legendary hunter. Luke is a "new" trainer who just got his starter and is accompanied by his guardian Sim.eon. They're all people Sunny meets and interacts with along the way as peers.

I kinda have the idea that the bros + dia might be the gym leaders of this au, but I'm still on the drawing board with that one. Getting the gym badges and being "the very best like no one ever was" isn't really on Sunny's to-do list.

The geopolitical importance of the Malvinas

• The Malvinas are a strategic point that operates as a naval control node in the South Atlantic and as a "gateway" and resupply base for expeditions to the Antarctic. It is no coincidence: Argentina and Great Britain claim the same portion of the Antarctic continent, rich in natural resources such as fresh water.

• The British military base Mount Pleasant, 45 km from Puerto Argentino, is home to some 2,500 military personnel and almost 400 civilians. The documents leaked by WikiLeaks show the US concern about a possible alliance between Brazil and Argentina to claim and protect sovereignty over this territory.

• The English Geological Society (funded by British Petroleum, Shell and Equinor) noted in 2021 that the Malvinas is "excellently endowed with hydrocarbons". At least five British companies operate in the Islands: Rockhopper, Desire, Argos, Border & South and Falkland Oil & Gas. Almost 200,000 ships pass through the South Atlantic carrying 80% of the oil demanded by Western Europe.

• The British military base in Malvinas forms a "string of pearls" with the bases of Ascension, Tristan da Cunha, Saint Helena and Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean, which allow the pirate empire the military control of the double bioceanic confluence Indian-Atlantic and Atlantic-Pacific.

• The 2022 season was a record season for the British crown for the harvesting of loligo squid, illex and tailfish. In addition to British vessels, Spanish, South Korean and Taiwanese flag vessels are operating. These vessels operate illegally and have no environmental, labor or navigational safety controls.

There is also a thing to be said about how oceans are not empty things, they're not impassable geographical barriers. Oceans are full of life, and not only wildlife, people work and live there (if you're a sailor, so much of your time is spent in the ocean that it becomes your home). Trade travels through the ocean. Natural resources are managed and mismanaged in the oceans. They have historical and cultural value. Like any other natural environment, the seas have been shaped and managed by human activity

When we talk about the Malvinas, we talk about islands, but we are also talking about a British (military, colonial) presence in the seas of Argentina and wider South America. They use it to project their power, their claims over Antarctica, their extraction and use of resources, just mere kilometres from the Argentine coast. It might as well be a British base in the middle of La Pampa or Río Negro (and there are actually some of them, compounds owned by British billionaries who don't let anyone in). Those islands are the most physical projection of British power over a continent they have long tried to subdue to their interests.

It's the same tactic the British use in their colonial possessions in the Indian Ocean (look up the history of the Chagos islanders), or the French and US in the Pacific (ever wondered where the word Bikini came from? Look it up.) People think islands are... Isolated. That they're just a tiny piece of land that cannot be connected to other things. Owning an island means owning the sea around it, and owning the sea never is a neutral thing, the fact that there are no cities on them does not mean it's empty space.

Think about this next time someone tries to tell you "it's just a couple islands with sheep, who cares"

Thinking about how the simple act of phrasing can completely turn a wip around and change the energy and the tone and give away so much about the narrating character. Thinking about how both Illex and Grey are autistic but they both present it in such drastically different ways. Thinking about how Grey will promptly shut down any autistic traits in his internal while Illex will emphasize them; a stark comparison to how Grey’s internal is cold, critical, blunt and to the point while Illex’s is full of memes and snappy jokes and snarky comments. Thinking about how they are both demand avoidant but Illex is ashamed of it and constantly trying to cover it up while Grey does not bat an eye over it and leans into it. I am thinking about how both of them were told to kneel and how Illex dropped like the strings holding them up were cut while Grey raised his eyebrows and said fucking make me, milord. Their stories are so tonally different and their internals are so tonally different and yet they deal with the same issues and the same topics. Man I fucking love writing

Finish: Moonshine (Deeprag)

Notes: Several levels and different bridges of enemies. Deeprag's weapon had a bunch of abilities and status effects that took down Bev and Balnor at different moments. Many small enemies: the ultimate Naddpod villain. They're probably going to win and then the worm shows up, they get lucky with the worm a couple times. Then Moonshine rolls the worst nat 20 in history and gets swallowed followed by Hardwon's clutch nat 20 to save her. Poetic cinema.

Propaganda: (anonymous) Three different teams, all fighting each other at the same time. Hardwon wrestles the worm’s jaw open to pull Moonshine out after she almost gets DIGESTED. A cool roll mechanic Murph made for this encounter to decide who Yanoba would target and has not used since. And then a chase sequence at the end. It may not be a momentous boss fight, but it’s (in my opinion) the most thrilling and mechanically interesting regular fight of the campaign and really shows off Murph’s ability to make any combat at any phase of the game compelling and engaging throughout.

Option 2:

Enemy: Ring of Violence

Finish: Balnor (Zalek), Hardwon (Drisda, Illex)

Notes: Welcome to the encounter of the old foes you already killed and sent to hell but they're back and better than ever. There are levels and distances and they have to keep falling in order to save their friends. Deeprag is back and has a culty vibe with "husk mommy" (a new worm). Wyatt Montgomery shoes up and Hardwon softly says "I can't be a vampire again". The Hounds come close to killing Balnor again. Hardwon tricks Husk Mommy into killing Deeprag and Wyatt, saves a knocked out Moonshine, then jumps down to help Balnor and Bev.

Propaganda: (anonymous) There’s so much going on, but saving balnor, moonshine and Hardwon taking turns attracting the attention of the unkillable god enemy to save each other, killing the hounds again.
