The first snippet is floating around somewhere -- so here's the first page of Chapter 1!
The letter catches up to Sunai in Ghamor, where it’ s always a little too cold not to hate having fingers. It comes by way of the aunty who runs the shabby hostel where he stows his ruck between jobs. She says the kid who dropped it off had Sunai’ s description: middling short, bespectacled, faint limp, long braid, old eyeliner.
The envelope isn’ t signed but for a scrawl across the seam, the sigil of Leaf 36: “ Cascade,” a short poem at the end of the Lay about a rain shower that becomes a waterfall that drowns a rice field and starves a village, and eons later becomes a sea. You know — consequences.
The symbolism needn’ t be so obvious. Sunai hasn’ t led a life that invites people to write him, let alone figure out which city-state in all the wilds they should send their letters to. Only one person would go to the trouble. He must still be nursing the delusion that Sunai will one day try another way of living — perhaps a way involving fewer professional near-death experiences, or less illconsidered sex with unscrupulous acquaintances. Ideally, a way of life that would begin with a long, agonized reckoning with his shoddy excuse for a brain.
Joke’ s on him. Sunai isn’ t really alive.
OH HEY LOOK
Six whole goddamn chapters of THE ARCHIVE UNDYING are available online! Also they are FREE.
~FREE~
Reasons you might enjoy this book!
The protagonist, Sunai, known to me and Editor Carl as "Twink Wolverine"!
Sunai's past problems! What do you do when your dying AI god, with whom your relationship is at best ~complicated~, curses you never to die in a desperate attempt to save its own life? (RUN AWAY.)
Sunai's present problems! What if being cursed by aforementioned god means that the police-state who resurrects AI god-corpses as lich-mechs needs you to pilot one? (RUN AWAY.)
Sunai's future problems! What if you stumble into bed with an expert in AI tech who is maybe kind of on the cusp of discovering what's killing these gods in the first place? What if he needs your help? What if he's NICE? OH NO. (RUN AWAY... WHY AREN'T YOU RUNNING.)
ENJOY... Full book out June 27th, 2023~

Sometimes you think you’ve missed the boat.. I don’t think I found out about this LP until after this was sold out (100 pressed) - but when a US seller put it on the cogs for half of the going rate I had to cop it. Very ill Afro-Ethio-Funky Jazz from the U.K. a superior rookie effort by #illconsidered (at Brewerytown, Philadelphia)

the number of people we remember as women who we know "wished they were born a boy" or really pressed the boundaries of gender presentation or were known by gender neutral names and all we really seem to say is "oh, butch lesbian" or "just a tomboy" transphobes are so adamant that trans people didn't exist before, idk when they say, 1960, that they go out of their way to make trans history specifically lesbian history i know queer history is complex because gender and sexuality haven't always been distinct (so genderqueerness and queer sexuality were interdependent, in terms of how they were talked about, at least according to my research when i was considering an essay on genderqueerness in the wake of social upheaval) but i don't think the way to reconcile that with modern thought is to presume every queer person pre-1960 was cis? especially when what few quotes we have or what little evidence we have rings true with lots of modern trans and nb experiences i don't know this is just a vent post and i'm sleepy still so if i said something illconsidered or offensive i'm deeply sorry

My head is churning with unpleasant thoughts, like what the fuck is going to happen to our nation and our people when so many blindly follow a buffoon like him - what’s going to happen before we actually get out of this? At what cost? He has neither the tact or ability to serve as president of his companies, yet alone the president of one of the most powerful nations in the world. His inflammatory and deceptive rhetoric is damaging and, quite frankly, dangerous with all the illconsidered nonsense he spews. He has neither the foresight nor decency to act in a way that puts aside corporations, industries, organizations and all of their bottom lines for the safety and support of his people. The petty, impertinent ways he has handled the states and their governors during this is staggering and his complete indifference to the lives at stake is genuinely telling of his entire ethos as a president.
I fear a second wave that will surge again and wreak havoc and absolutely descimate our people because he is not savvy to the whole concept of unchecked viral contagions. Talks of opening back up and going back to business as usual for the good of our economy is the last thing we need. People don’t need to starve, people shouldn’t have to worry about their bills, their rent, their loans, their debt - any of it. But likewise, opening back up and sending everyone back to work will be a death sentence, as if it isn’t already dangerous enough with only a minute fraction of people up and about. The government has the ability to support the people during this time, and instead of insisting things need to go back to normal, they need to hunker down and let the greater medical community do what they do best. Buy them all the time we can afford to ensure we can actually tackle this virus and quash the spread. Trump needs to understand that, and he needs to understand that his government has the ability to do what’s right, right now. It’s not a matter of the conservative right versus the progressive left, just do what’s bloody moral and necessary and have people stay home.
If he doesn’t step up to the plate and put his adult cap on, then I fear we have much worse days ahead of us. We see states like Massachusetts and New York talking about “flattening the curve,” but start exposing people once again, and that curve is going to go right back to an upward trend. You open up now and we’re going to see a drastic, exponential increase. The last thing we need is him encouraging rioting and movements for “freedom.” The last thing we need is him spreading misinformation about injecting dangerous chemicals to kill off the virus. And we certainly cannot have him telling us to return to business as usual, and to thank him and his administration for the wonderful job they’re doing, because that is just nonsense.
JUST SO WE ARE CLEAR ON THE TIMELINE:
Dec 18th - House Impeaches Trump.

Jan 28th - Trump campaign rally.

Feb 25th - “CDC and my Administration are doing a GREAT job of handling Coronavirus.”
Feb 25th - “I think that’s a problem that’s going to go away… They have studied it. They know very much. In fact, we’re very close to a vaccine.”
Feb 26th - “Because of all we’ve done, the risk to the American people remains very low. … When you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero. That’s a pretty good job we’ve done.”
Feb 26th - “We’re going very substantially down, not up.” Also “This is a flu. This is like a flu”; “Now, you treat this like a flu”; “It’s a little like the regular flu that we have flu shots for. And we’ll essentially have a flu shot for this in a fairly quick manner.”
Feb 27th: “One day it’s like a miracle, it will disappear.”
Feb 28th - “We’re ordering a lot of supplies. We’re ordering a lot of, uh, elements that frankly we wouldn’t be ordering unless it was something like this. But we’re ordering a lot of different elements of medical.”
Feb 28th - Trump campaign rally.
Mar 2nd - “You take a solid flu vaccine, you don’t think that could have an impact, or much of an impact, on corona?”
Mar 2nd - “A lot of things are happening, a lot of very exciting things are happening and they’re happening very rapidly.”
Mar 4th: “If we have thousands or hundreds of thousands of people that get better just by, you know, sitting around and even going to work — some of them go to work, but they get better.”
Mar 5th - “I NEVER said people that are feeling sick should go to work.”
Mar 5th - “The United States… has, as of now, only 129 cases… and 11 deaths. We are working very hard to keep these numbers as low as possible!”
Mar 6th - “I think we’re doing a really good job in this country at keeping it down… a tremendous job at keeping it down.”
Mar 6th - “There is no testing kit shortage, nor has there ever been.”
Mar 6th - “Anybody right now, and yesterday, anybody that needs a test gets a test. They’re there. And the tests are beautiful…. the tests are all perfect like the letter was perfect. The transcription was perfect. Right? This was not as perfect as that but pretty good.”
Mar 6th - “I like this stuff. I really get it. People are surprised that I understand it… Every one of these doctors said, ‘How do you know so much about this?’ Maybe I have a natural ability. Maybe I should have done that instead of running for president.”
Mar 6th - “I don’t need to have the numbers double because of one ship that wasn’t our fault.”
Mar 7th - Trump golfs.
Mar 8th - Trump golfs.
Mar 8th - “We have a perfectly coordinated and fine-tuned plan at the White House for our attack on CoronaVirus.”
Mar 9th - “This blindsided the world.”

Mar 10th - “It will go away. Just stay calm. It will go away.”
Mar 13th - [Declared state of emergency].
Mar 13th - “No, I don’t take responsibility at all.”
Mar 15th - “This is a very contagious virus. It’s incredible. But it’s something that we have tremendous control over.”
Mar 17th - “This is a pandemic,” Mr. Trump told reporters. “I felt it was a pandemic long before it was called a pandemic.”
Mar 18th - “I always treated the Chinese Virus very seriously, and have done a very good job from the beginning”
Mar 18th - “It’s not racist at all. No. Not at all. It comes from China. That’s why. It comes from China. I want to be accurate.”
Mar 18th - “No, I’ve always viewed it as serious, there was no difference yesterday from days before. I feel the tone is similar but some people said it wasn’t.”

Apr 2nd - 6.6 million Americans file for unemployment.

this is just a sample, of course.
