Before I started reading the Iliad, I thought it was just going to be epic descriptions of burly men in glorious combat with some God shenanigans. Sure that's in there. But, I find that large sections of text are dedicated to describing the men and boys who are dying.

He was the son of parents who loved him who will find his honorable death a poor balm for their pain. He has dreams and talents that will go undone. He was a joy to those around him, and now that joy is snuffed out. He swam in this river, but will never do so again. He had a lover whose bed will now be cold.

War may bring some abstract sense of glory, but the cost is incalculable.

He was a soldier. But he was also a human.

And now he is a few lines in a poem.

Blood turned to ink.

This year I finally got around to entering the Snow Miku Contest!! This year's prompt was "Glitter Snow Material"!

The design I settled on is inspired by both Snow Globe Music Boxes (specifically the music boxes with ballerinas in them) and the Sugar Plum Fairy from The Nutcracker! Rabbit Yukine's design is inspired by the dolls at the start of the story.
