Dude im going to be honest with you, some people may disagree but i think you actually write too fast 😅 or maybe im too used to people taking longer to deliver things, bc i know sometimes people don't feel motivated or have yk a LIFE! but good god some people, I'm telling you dude, i can't speak for everyone but me, personally? Im grateful for what and when you share your writing with us, like i said before ignore the ones who apparently can't read about boundaries and just vibe with the rest. 🖤
SGSJSHKSSJ NO YOU'RE RIGHT.
Uh I genuinely don't know why I write so fast, I think it's a mixture of just being the type to, having a fair amount of experience writing to formulate shit easier, and just, got a fair bit of time on my hands nowadays. So like, on one hand ik I jump from fandom to fandom posting a shitload all the time. I actually try to keep it cool but lmao. I'm just rlly fast for some reason??
Honestly that person annoyed me but 🤷🏿♀️ I do be getting those comments often, no matter how fast I post or how often I say "haha plz don't no rlly it's not fun :(" so ik I gotta just ignore but;;; sue me I'm so hot headed lmao. 😭
And thanks for saying this frfr!!! Like, I write for myself, but it's SO fun to see a comment or ask just making commentary abt what I wrote. Like fuck you're having thoughts??? Abt my little words??? Huh??? So rlly the good outweighs the bad. I'll def keep going, just probs will lose my politeness Abt those comments every chapter lmao

The danger is clear and present: COVID isn’t merely a respiratory illness; it’s a multi-dimensional threat impacting brain function, attacking almost all of the body’s organs, producing elevated risks of all kinds, and weakening our ability to fight off other diseases. Reinfections are thought to produce cumulative risks, and Long COVID is on the rise. Unfortunately, Long COVID is now being considered a long-term chronic illness — something many people will never fully recover from.
Dr. Phillip Alvelda, a former program manager in DARPA’s Biological Technologies Office that pioneered the synthetic biology industry and the development of mRNA vaccine technology, is the founder of Medio Labs, a COVID diagnostic testing company. He has stepped forward as a strong critic of government COVID management, accusing health agencies of inadequacy and even deception. Alvelda is pushing for accountability and immediate action to tackle Long COVID and fend off future pandemics with stronger public health strategies.
Contrary to public belief, he warns, COVID is not like the flu. New variants evolve much faster, making annual shots inadequate. He believes that if things continue as they are, with new COVID variants emerging and reinfections happening rapidly, the majority of Americans may eventually grapple with some form of Long COVID.
Let’s repeat that: At the current rate of infection, most Americans may get Long COVID.
[...]
LP: A recent JAMA study found that US adults with Long COVID are more prone to depression and anxiety – and they’re struggling to afford treatment. Given the virus’s impact on the brain, I guess the link to mental health issues isn’t surprising.
PA: There are all kinds of weird things going on that could be related to COVID’s cognitive effects. I’ll give you an example. We’ve noticed since the start of the pandemic that accidents are increasing. A report published by TRIP, a transportation research nonprofit, found that traffic fatalities in California increased by 22% from 2019 to 2022. They also found the likelihood of being killed in a traffic crash increased by 28% over that period. Other data, like studies from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, came to similar conclusions, reporting that traffic fatalities hit a 16-year high across the country in 2021. The TRIP report also looked at traffic fatalities on a national level and found that traffic fatalities increased by 19%.
LP: What role might COVID play?
PA: Research points to the various ways COVID attacks the brain. Some people who have been infected have suffered motor control damage, and that could be a factor in car crashes. News is beginning to emerge about other ways COVID impacts driving. For example, in Ireland, a driver’s COVID-related brain fog was linked to a crash that killed an elderly couple.
Damage from COVID could be affecting people who are flying our planes, too. We’ve had pilots that had to quit because they couldn’t control the airplanes anymore. We know that medical events among U.S. military pilots were shown to have risen over 1,700% from 2019 to 2022, which the Pentagon attributes to the virus.
[...]
LP: You’ve criticized the track record of the CDC and the WHO – particularly their stubborn denial that COVID is airborne.
PA: They knew the dangers of airborne transmission but refused to admit it for too long. They were warned repeatedly by scientists who studied aerosols. They instituted protections for themselves and for their kids against airborne transmission, but they didn’t tell the rest of us to do that.
[...]
LP: How would you grade Biden on how he’s handled the pandemic?
PA: I’d give him an F. In some ways, he fails worse than Trump because more people have actually died from COVID on his watch than on Trump’s, though blame has to be shared with Republican governors and legislators who picked ideological fights opposing things like responsible masking, testing, vaccination, and ventilation improvements for partisan reasons. Biden’s administration has continued to promote the false idea that the vaccine is all that is needed, perpetuating the notion that the pandemic is over and you don’t need to do anything about it. Biden stopped the funding for surveillance and he stopped the funding for renewing vaccine advancement research. Trump allowed 400,000 people to die unnecessarily. The Biden administration policies have allowed more than 800,000 to 900,000 and counting.
[...]
LP: The situation with bird flu is certainly getting more concerning with the CDC confirming that a third person in the U.S. has tested positive after being exposed to infected cows.
PA: Unfortunately, we’re repeating many of the same mistakes because we now know that the bird flu has made the jump to several species. The most important one now, of course, is the dairy cows. The dairy farmers have been refusing to let the government come in and inspect and test the cows. A team from Ohio State tested milk from a supermarket and found that 50% of the milk they tested was positive for bird flu viral particles.
[...]
PA: There’s a serious risk now in allowing the virus to freely evolve within the cow population. Each cow acts as a breeding ground for countless genetic mutations, potentially leading to strains capable of jumping to other species. If any of those countless genetic experiments within each cow prove successful in developing a strain transmissible to humans, we could face another pandemic – only this one could have a 58% death rate. Did you see the movie “Contagion?” It was remarkably accurate in its apocalyptic nature. And that virus only had a 20% death rate. If the bird flu makes the jump to human-to-human transition with even half of its current lethality, that would be disastrous.

Back again! This time with the most original(-ish)-starbound-plot relevant crewmember!
TISHA SASHAT [Tenebrhae]
Tisha was is their second year of training when the Earth was ripped apart by a storm of horrors pouring forth from a rift in reality. (Suprise! Thierri's crew resides in a Starbound AU: the most major change is that the ruin was not alone: creatures beyond our comprehension continue to roam (and often terrorize) Protectorate alliance space and beyond. Asra Nox's, and by extension, the Occasus cult's, role is modified in this AU. Notes on that in the tags.) After evacuating to Mars temporarily, they reunited with a few of their friends from the graduating class. Unbeknownst to Tisha, the same friend that would go on to lead the recovery efforts was the one responsible for the rift's opening.
████ didn't destroy earth intentionally. Rather, she ignored the warnings from her mentors about tinkering with the internal storage systems of matter manipulators and caused it to implode at the wrong time and worst place: The Beginning of the Rift. It started out small, barely a rip in space hidden behind a crate of capsules. Maybe it would've closed on its own. However, eager to prove the versatility of her homebrewed manipulator, ████ attempted to stitch it back together by force. What followed was a catastrophic series of chain reactions, leading to the destruction of Earth. ████ was scarred both physically and mentally by her proximity to the tear. Driven by guilt, she leads the effort in recovering the pieces of Earth and possibly sealing them back together after the rip is sealed. Her methods however...
Tisha was unaware of ████'s role in Earth's destruction, only knowing that at the time, she was studying the high level engineering of matter manipulators. They put the pieces together themself when ████ revealed her plan to use the same matter manipulator to try and seal the rift again. Distrustful of ████'s hasty problem solving, Tisha stole the manipulator and fled the solar system. Half fueled by fear and half concern for their former friend, they hope that by removing the solution that ████ recklessly relied on, she will take more time to think of solutions, rather than taking the quickest, yet riskiest route.
Unfortunately, instead of redirecting her focus to other solutions, ████ put a bounty on Tisha's head. They didn't hear about this until after they hopped on a freight ship headed to the edges of Protectorate allied space, though.
Thierri's crew stood out to Tisha among others by having what looked like a fellow tenebrhae as chief engineering officer. Not used to seeing their kind off-planet (and in the same field of study as them!) Tisha applied and was accepted. To their chagrin, what they assumed was a tenebrhae turned out to be Gus' censored profile image. Despite their disappointment, their bounty had reached the edge stations and Tisha had no choice but to leave on the ship and stay with the crew until the end of their contract.
Tisha mostly works with Gus in maintaining the ship's engine. However, Gus is constantly taking over for major tasks, leaving only the most menial and surface level ones for them. This annoys Tisha, who thinks he's underestimating their expertise and overworking himself. In reality, it's because Gus secretly modified the engine to process the erchius crystals that grow from where his left arm used to be. Besides Chal and Thierri, nobody on the ship knows about the Lunar Base Incident, though Tisha is constantly on the verge of finding out.

seems like all the Y2K stuff tumblr is pushing atm has to do with a new Hulu show or something called “Cruel Summer”.
so the fake Y2K/unreality-type thing they’re doing is all a big advertisement. (bolding “fake” for people who can’t tell it isn’t real /gen)
im a fan of retro stuff and Y2K aesthetic on its own, but i can’t say i’m a big fan of the big sticker on the screen. it feels… imminent, even though it’s a date that passed long ago, before i was even born.
took a screenshot (put below readmore) on my browser for anyone on mobile who can’t see the thing i’m talking about. i like the windows bar at the bottom but- like i said -the sticker i’m not a fan of.
extra reminder here that Y2K is not happening. this is all a campaign for a TV show.
i promise everything is going to be okay.

AI art can be tricky but personally i really dont care if people are just using it for laughs, like the latest one going around- I dont think this is going to turn anyone on to ai art and go "this is great and better than actual artists!", people just use it because of the absurd results you get, and i dont really think every one of these things are out to be malicious. There are so many bad parts to AI Art and anyone who thinks feeding an ai to make a picture is being an artist is goofy but lile... Idk. People who actually enjoy and respect artists and their work wouldnt stoop to that, basically. AI isnt going to take over the creative world lol.

I'm not a true crime girlie these days but I couldn't resist checking out the new lifetime series about phrogging (honestly what a dumb term for it imo but whatever) and the thing about this show that immediately puts me off is that they've cherry picked rare times when there's evidence that the intruder may indeed be dangerous, but they're not going to address that most people who phrog do so because they were evicted (usually from the property in question) and have no where to go & have no intention of property damage or causing harm.... aka, it's fundamentally a housing issue, which is being turned into a typical "omg be scared of everyone in public and also be afraid even of your own home! Just be terrified and isolated at all times please :) " true crime grift 😒🙄

it is totally okay to be hurt and tired and fed up with the american schooling system but i need you to understand that we need to be better about loudly and routinely defending public education.
yes, many teachers suck, many schools utterly suck. i also got bullied and was absolutely not given the right support for my needs. i am not defending public education because it was kind to me. i am defending it because it needs to exist.
right-wing republicans do not want an educated population. they want kids to be homeschooled or in private school. there is a huge religious undertone to this.
the most common argument is that despite high costs, the "result" is not "good" enough. they point to failing schools as proof that public education is just never going to work out. there will be arguments made here that you actually agree with: that teachers can be bullies, that we taught online for 2 years and still charged the same amount of tuition, that we have no recourse for students to actually have agency or a voice, and that schools are now unsafe for kids due to risk of illness and gun violence.
these are all placing the blame in a fraudulent way, one intended to get your parents to homeschool you. the less kids in a school, the less federally-awarded funding for that school, the less any school succeeds. they will not mention the fact it is their legislation that takes away important funding opportunities, that teachers are living at or below the poverty line, that buildings are not kept up to code, that administration is overpaid and forces specific curriculums, that corporations like (my personal enemy) Pearson Education control certain classroom goals because teachers can't afford other options. they pretend to be ignorant of the gun violence and say "oh just get a gun" - but these are the same people who will be sending their child to a private school with a bulletproof backpack. they don't care if your kid dies, though. they "don't believe" in covid, but they did get their kid vaccinated, because of course they did.
it is a closed loop. conservative parents hear the fearmongering and remove children from the system. frequently these parents are also deeply religious. the kids are raised without access to other media & learn to parrot their parents. you have now created a new generation of conservatives. additionally, one of the parents/caregivers must stay home and homeschool the children, usually for free. i will give you 1 guess which parent tends to stay home to homeschool the children. these parents are encouraged to have many, many children. those children are most likely not getting access to safe sex ed.
we might laugh at fox news suggesting teachers are forcing children to use kitty litter but: first of all, there is kitty litter in the classroom. it's part of an emergency kit in case children are locked in due to a shooter. so that's fucking dystopian, and the fact they've completely reimagined the scenario to somehow make the teachers look bad when it's instead a fucking huge symbol of our failure as a country to protect our children.... it feels a little intentional.
secondly: don't just dismiss the situation. because, yeah, obviously, no teacher is encouraging kids to be a catboy. but the actual undertone that fox news is trying to sew is an outright distrust of teachers and of public education. they rely on the dehumanization of trans people as a common touchstone to hide the fact they're pushing two agendas at once. (which is ironic. because the thing they accuse teachers of. is pushing. an agenda.)
whenever someone tells you they want you to read less, you should be suspicious of that. when someone tries to separate you and your education, you should be suspicious of that. i don't even like incel rhetoric nor would i want my kids exposed to it - but i would not take away my child's (age-appropriate) access to the internet. i would just provide more educational materials, not less. the difference here is that i believe we can resolve ignorance with knowledge; whereas conservatives believe that ignorance is bliss.
they misappropriate funding and demonize teachers. they pull the same trick each time - the same thing we are seeing with anti-trans rhetoric. they do not want you to have access to safe sex ed, so they act horrified, claim sex ed teaches you how to thrust deep, claim that we have no idea what "age-appropriate" means. since the mid-nineties, the united states has spent at least 2 billion dollars on abstinence-only education, even though to quote the above link: "a preponderance of studies has found no effect of abstinence education at reducing adolescent pregnancy". conservatives want you to think less of any person struggling with addiction so they can continue their racist "war on drugs", so they spend up to $750 million dollars a year on the DARE program which has absolutely no effect. acting like teachers "must" be "grooming" children is just the same thing - so they can demand that funding either goes to their causes or the funding doesn't "exist" ("i'm not paying for our kids to learn that thing!")
and they want you to feel uncaring about this. they are aware that you will hate some parts of your school experience. pretty much everyone does. they want to lean into the parts that you hate so that you don't put up a fight about it when they take it away for not being "good enough."
i know i maybe sound like a conspiracy theorist. but truly. truly. it is beneficial for conservatives to reduce your faith in the american public schooling system.
one of the explicitly stated campaign promises of the conservative party: to axe the Department of Education in 2024.
i know we are all tired and burnt out and there is so much else wrong with their entire platform. but maybe just - pay attention to this one.

Saw someone refer to schizophrenia as "a degenerative illness" and I just want to point out that this is a myth from the early 1900s when we didn't know how to separate things like schizophrenia from actual degenerative conditions like untreated syphilis. Schizophrenia is likely to be a lifelong condition, but it isn't a degenerative one and often symptoms actually improve somewhat with time. So let's please not fearmonger about this
