[The Keihancarl Diaries: September 14, 2024]
Keihancarl here. The weather feels kind of unpredictable, as there’s the possibility of rainfall during the weekend. Well then, I’m heading to the SMX Convention Center for this year’s Manila International Book Fair, the sixth MIBF event I’ve attended since 2017. And of course, if the weather cooperates, there’s a chance I’ll get to visit Ayala Malls Manila Bay for the second time, as well as the Parqal Mall, both located in the nearby Aseana City.
xxxxxxxxxx
I’m going all-black for this weekend. Not that unusual, right? Well, I have to make sure to make the most out of this day so I really have to leave the house early. I'll probably have to deal with traffic along the way, but I guess it's pretty normal nowadays. Anyway, it was still sunny when I left, and (luckily) traffic was light along Commonwealth Avenue, well, except for North Fairview. I managed to reach North Avenue about an hour later.
On the way to North Avenue, I was having a hard time deciding between riding the MRT-3 to Taft (with a short jeepney/bus ride to SM Mall Of Asia) or taking the EDSA Bus Carousel all the way there (and save me the trouble of switching transport later). I ended up taking the MRT anyway.
I load up my Beep card and head inside the train. Looks like there's rain in the Ortigas area, but only for a bit. Well, the weather report says that there’ll be a chance of scattered rainfall throughout the day. I was hoping it wouldn’t rain in the Pasay and Parañaque areas, since I’m planning to visit a couple of malls at the Aseana City after the MIBF.
Reaching MRT Taft Station, I took a short bus ride (EDSA Carousel) to the Mall Of Asia Complex. Oh, and I happened to see the LRT-1 Gen 4 trains while passing by the overpass to the EDSA Bus Carousel. Would love to ride these new trains soon, well, probably on my 34th birthday.
I reached SMX about 10 minutes past twelve. As soon as I got inside, I decided to have a hotdog (on a stick) at one of the stands. Although I’m starting to get hungry, I don’t feel like having lunch just yet… well maybe later.
I decided to check some of the booths on the first floor, including Fully Booked, National Book Store, and the Precious Pages Group (including Black Ink Comics). I bought a copy of The Restaurant Of Many Orders (at 20 percent off) at the Fully Booked booth, and three bargain-priced manga books at the NBS booth.
Heading to the second level, I passed by a couple of booths, Komiket and Tankobonbon. I bought a couple of books at the Komiket booth.
This is the first time since 2019 that the MIBF occupied two floors of the SMX Convention Center, excluding Function Rooms 4 and 5 (which are closed). And yes, this is the first time that I actually had a large haul of books from the event.
National Book Store finally made a comeback to the MIBF for the first time since 2019. Tuttle Publishing, however, was not among the list of exhibitors. The latter is one of the exhibitors I always visited at most of the previous MIBF events. But at least I bought one of the publisher’s books (the manga version of The Restaurant Of Many Orders) at the Fully Booked booth.
It was already 2:00 in the afternoon, but there was a lot of time left so I decided to leave the event (and the Mall Of Asia Complex) to visit Ayala Malls Manila Bay. It’s been more than 4 years since I last visited that mall (exactly a month before the COVID lockdown), but I knew that it was doing well since then. Might as well visit Parqal Mall while I’m there.
It only took me 10 minutes to walk to Parqal Mall, which is actually a strip mall with a large roof above it. The area was breezy when I got there, not to mention that it is close to the bay. Since I didn't have anything to drink since leaving the house, I stopped by The Marketplace Supermarket to buy something to drink (it's just a bottle of C2) and consumed it along the way.
From the Parqal Mall, it took me less than 5 minutes to reach Ayala Malls Manila Bay. I visited several shops inside the mall, including Flying Tiger Copenhagen (probably the Danish version of the Japanese brand Daiso) and Biblio. There was an event by Foot Locker at the mall’s atrium.
I was getting hungry, considering that I didn’t have anything but a hotdog for lunch. I suppose it’s time for Pepper Lunch (after noticing it from the other side of the balcony). Besides, it’s already 3:00 PM and I’m only at the mall’s second level.
I decided on beef pepper rice, which is so far the only item I ordered at Pepper Lunch (I initially thought of trying their salmon pepper rice). I took a moment to write this post while waiting for the food to cool down a bit. The weight of the books I bought at the book fair adds up to the slight feeling of exhaustion, along with the crowd of people at the venue. It was also quite stuffy inside since the air conditioning unit was under maintenance, hence the portable air coolers.
I then continued checking the rest of the upper floors, as well as some of the shops. The Sun Garden on the fifth floor is already open, the last time I was there it was still closed. So far, I believe only Zus Coffee is open.
After checking the rest of the mall, I headed back to the Mall Of Asia Complex and passed by the Neo Chinatown area. It only took me less than fifteen minutes before I reached the SMX Convention Center, though I didn't bother checking the MIBF again. Anyway, it's time to visit the two malls in the complex, starting with the S’Maison Mall. I got inside the mall via the bridgeway from SMX.
I only checked the Fully Booked branch there, which had already relocated to the ground floor from the second floor. Nothing much, considering that I’ve already bought what I wanted at the MIBF. And yes, all of the books are 20 percent off. Also, I didn't bother checking the rest of the shops inside the mall.
I made my way to SM Mall Of Asia using the other bridgeway at the other end of S'Maison. Once I got there, I checked Decathlon first. After that, I immediately head to the esplanade.
Looks like a reclamation project has commenced near the MOA Eye. Some parts of the esplanade were cordoned off as well. Also, I’m not sure when these lamp posts were installed, but they sure brightened up the area.
From the esplanade, I made my way to the other side of the mall, the part near The Galeon. I then checked some of the shops inside.
Feeling parched, I decided to have a drink from ChaTraMue, at the MOA Food Hall. I ordered a plum red tea, with konjac jelly. The drink was kind of sour and salty at the same time, like kiamoy (dried sour plums/prunes covered by some orange powder). Is that how the drink is supposed to taste like?
I took a moment to check some of the shops. Nitori is opening soon, as well as a gashapon shop.
I then checked the Sky Park for a while, and Aperitif (cafe/restaurant) is now open. I decided to skip the Fully Booked x Kinokuniya branch at the mall due to time constraints.
Later on, I dropped by IKEA at the MOA Square. I was taking pics of some amazing displays, but the gamer’s room was the most awesome. And the kitchen.
And it’s time to go home. Unfortunately, there were no more UV Express vans to SM Fairview so I’ll have to find another way to get home. I could’ve probably taken the MRT-3 or the EDSA Bus Carousel to North Avenue, but getting a UV Express ride from Trinoma or SM North is quite a hassle, especially if I’ll have to line up for about 15 to 30 minutes. Instead, I took a jeep to the Taft Avenue-Buendia intersection and took the UV Express van from there. Traffic is mostly light, with slight traffic in North Fairview.
I got home before 11:00 PM. That was the first time I’d been out on a mall-hopping trip for more than 13 hours, and my hips and my left shoulder hurt so much from walking too much and my bag’s weight respectively. Despite this, I had a lot of fun at the event, and I’m quite pleased with this trip, even with some minor problems.
xxxxxxxxxx
It sure was a fun weekend, even though I ended up feeling worn out. My all-black outfit sure was kind of ordinary, but it was complimented well with my usual accessories (particularly the black fingerless gloves).
I’m planning another trip for my 34th birthday (it’s less than a month away). When or where it will happen will depend on the situation, but I’m really pushing for it to happen. Manila might be the obvious choice, but I’m considering Ortigas/Greenhills or Alabang as well (the latter two I’ve yet to revisit). Of course, I’m gonna wear all-black on that trip as well.
I suppose this is where I’ll end this post. Until next time! Ciao!
All pics are uploaded to my Instagram account, @kcox_105, and shared to my Threads account.

LITERARY: 1DK
Well… in reality, di siya totoo. (lol)
Haha, sorry. It’s a prank lang pala na may trabaho ako sa isang very esteemed company! Very very impulsive decision. IKR!
Di ba dapat “set for success” ako? Heads up lang!
Haha… Well! (deep sigh for added emphasis) It is what it is!
(Sana. Coping mechanism na lang ito. May time limit pala na 3 months whoops).
On the bright side, may veranda ako at ang ganda pa ng view. Ano konek? It’s none of your business.
(Note to self: If gusto mo talaga ito ang unang blog post mo sa gagawing mong blog account, ayusin mo nga muna ang mga eme mo.
(FINAL UPDATE: gg alam pala nilang di totoo may job offering ako kaya pala sila nagbigay ng financial support sa simula??? EH DI SANA SINABI KO NA LANG DATI NA GUSTO KONG LUMIPAT KASI TRIP KO LANG! Sabi ng nanay ko na papayag naman sila kahit wala pa akong maayos na trabaho, mas kailangan ko pa ng change of environment at the time. Umiyak ang bakla sa revelation na ito.
Anyways. May trabaho na ako :>. 5 months strong! Tapos mapro-promote pa ako next month! Nag-apply ako for Masters sa UP, pero this time, I’ll take it slow! Ha. Thought so.)

I have had the most amazing summer. In July, my best friend came to visit. I brought her to Paris (her first time), showed her around my town and other neighbouring cities around Geneva, and we drove to the south of France. I made different meals for everyone to enjoy, danced to the loveliest music, and drank the best wine(s).
The third week of August, I went back to the Philippines. We had a long overdue family reunion. Our uncle from Canada also came to visit with his family, and my cousin who works for months at a cruise ship extended his vacation.
We all flew to Zamboanga del Sur to surprise my grandma and our extended family whom we haven't seen in 13 years ! We spent a week there living the simple life, eating pandesal for breakfast, and singing karaoke kahit brownout.
The first few days of September, I spent back in my hometown. I saw Bowie again. I didn't let any minute pass without cuddling him. Whenever I'm in the PH and everyone else is back home, my sisters and I stay in one bedroom with our parents (and Bowie), chatting away until we all fall asleep. These nights were even more special because we were all cooped up in one room while there was a storm outside. Felt just like the good old days when my sisters and I would spend nights holed up in our parents room trying to pass the time until electricity was back on.
I was also sooo happy to walk around the malls with Christmas music already playing in the background ! We bought surprise presents for our parents. My sisters and I chipped in to buy papa his dream TV, and mama a new iPhone. The rest of my money I spent on groceries, more presents for the fam, pasalubongs for Jon, books, Cheetos, Spicy Century Tuna, Vienna sausages, and Spam. lol
We spent my last week in Manila. Took mama, my sisters, and our aunt on a date - brunch in Wildflour and shopping at Rockwell, and then continued to shop in MOA. I wanted to make dinner for everyone, so I made sinigang na baboy which was perfect for the stormy weather. We had drinks with our cousins before bed (red horse, spicy Oishi, and isaw at bbq).
The next day, I brought my parents to IKEA so I can buy them stuff for the house. I could tell mama was so excited to drive back home so she can start using everything we got. Uncle flew back from Zamboanga later than everyone else so the day after he arrived, he went straight to the condo so we can spend more time with him. We asked him to make lola's bistek Tagalog as he is the only one who can make it exactly the way lola does. I am glad to report that I watched him closely as he was making it - even volunteered to be the sous chef - so I will make it for dinner tomorrow.
The day before my flight, the entire family celebrated my aunt and cousin's birthdays. I made some of my specialty meals, and we ordered a bunch of other food. Of course, there was cake.
I flew back to Switzerland on the 7th. I arrived on Friday at 8 in the morning, unpacked my stuff, ate pancit canton, and fell asleep at 16hr. I woke up at 3am still tired, but I managed to clean up and do all the laundry. I was hanging clothes at the balcony even before the sun was out. I found it hilarious. The rest of the day, I spent on the couch still feeling quite sluggish and brushing off the fact that I was having chills, and my nose wouldn't stop running.
Jon and I went on a quick café date and I couldn't taste the coffee nor the pastry I ordered which I found strange but thought nothing of. We did errands and bought groceries but I started feeling sicker as the hours passed. As soon as we got home, I checked to see if I had covid. The test came out positive. Dinner wasn't much fun. I was much sicker so I couldn't enjoy the food Jon prepared for me - he made me the perfect steak which I couldn't taste hahaha and some soup to make me feel better.
This morning, I woke up at 5am and called my family right away. The symptoms are getting worse, and now I have chills, body pains, and constant headache. I will rest more so I can feel better by tomorrow. I just find this to be a silly end to an incredible summer.

Here’s a photo I originally intended to put on my What an August post the moment my best friend shared the file to me, but totally forgot about it when I was making the collages.
But I guess some things just happen for a reason because something better is meant for it (wow naman, ‘di lang nailagay dun sa post eh).
Anyway... I just think that I’m meant to share a little story about it.
Last August 21, my sister, her friend and I went to IKEA to look for blinds. During that time, I was on a “talking stage” with someone I was sooo into because we were of the same wavelength and we had so much connection
While we were in IKEA, my best friend Wilma sent a message to our group chat, saying that she and her husband would be in Ayala Malls–Manila Bay later that day.
Out of the blue, my ex also messaged me while we were in queue for checking out. And... we kinda messaged each other for the rest of the day, and until the next day, talking about what we’ve missed in each others’ lives since we stopped talking.
Our group then eventually went to Ayala Malls. While we’re having coffee at Starbucks, I messaged Wilma, telling her that I was also in the mall.
So... we decided to meet up for dinner, and had a little catch up. She asked how my dating life was, and I told her about this list of people I’ve dated so far during that time. One by one, I told them the little story I had for each.
I was very hopeful then that I would no longer add people on that list ‘coz I was determined to push for that person. Unfortunately, we didn’t end up together because… that someone didn’t leave the excess baggage in Sagada.
Anyway… so the list continues to lengthen. When will it stop? Maybe soon. And since all these people have been a part of my life even for a short time, I have this idea of making something for them—though I will only share it here in my blog.

YOUNG AND BEAUTIFUL
PAIRINGS; idol!Heeseung x Y/N
GENRE; Fluff, One-shot, Crack
WARNING; (DELUSIONAL AUTHOR) 😂😂
NOTE; Please assumed that Manifesto in Manila already happened. Y/N's pronouns is SHE/HER. Everything happens here is purely fictional.
WORD COUNT; 2k+
SYNOPSIS: Wherein Y/n attended ENHYPEN's first concert in Manila. At the same time, she will be having her JS Prom on March 30. She came up with a brilliant plan.
Manifesto in Manila is one of the show that will go down in ENHYPEN's history book as they sold all three days of their concert. Initially, the group is suppose to have two-day show in the country but due to high demand, they added one more day.
"Y/N!" Her classmate called out
"What is it, Anika?" Y/N asked
"Well, are you not excited? Like the concert is today!" Juliana said
"What's your plan?" Shuvy asked
"I will ask sir on who is my partner and what dance we are going to perform later. I really can't attend the cotillion practice today." Y/N answered
"Don't worry, we got your back girl!" Noreen assured
"Thank you." Y/N replied
It's Friday and luckily every Friday, their school is only up to 11:50 am. She still have the time to prepare herself.
"What is your outfit of the day?" Briana asked
"Well, just going simple. I will wear a white shirt with double collar then a double breasted preppy skirt with straps then with a red necktie." Y/N replied
"Your shoes?" Shas asked agaid
"Mary Jane shoes with ankle lace socks." Y/N answered
"I can picture you, and you look hot." Mary said
"Gay." Y/N said and her friends laugh with her
The time quickly goes by.
Y/N got home and she is welcome with her mother smiling at her. She can see the excitement on her mother's face.
"Ready for later?" Lei asked
"Of course!" Y/N answered
Y/N goes to her room to change her outfit, she already ate her lunch at the school. She grab her black sling bag, she put everything she will need at the concert.
Though, she really want to buy the royalty ticket, she could not because there's a lot of disadvantages to it.
After changing, she grab her printed banner. 'HEESEUNG BE MY PROM DATE ON MARCH 30!' Is what written on her banner. Another banner of her is 'ENHYPEN please watch my graduation!'.
She laugh at her banner, she already know that there is a small chance of them noticing her but she will not lose anything when trying.
"I'm done! Let's go now." Y/N said
She and her mother boards the car, she play the setlist for later. Y/N's excitement is written all over her face. No one can ever top her excitement.
Arriving at the venue, MOA Arena. She waits for her companion to arrive. They agreed to meet up in IKEA.
But before that, she falls in line for her ENGENE membership gift!
"Membership number and ID, please." The staff said
Y/N brings her digital membership code and her ID. She presents it to the staff and the staff give her the present.
Y/N let out a squeal as she got her bias, Lee Heeseung. Another worry off of her shoulder, she will now not worry about trading photocard with others.
"There you are!" Y/N said
"Hi! I'm so excited girl!" Elisha exclaimed
"Me too!" Y/N agreed
The two friends goes around the vicinity to collect freebies while waiting for the showtime.
Y/N shows the banner to Elisha making both of them to laugh. She knew that she will have the smallest chance but chance is a chance.
Oh, how she wish someone is videoing her on how much pure happiness she is displaying. She is curing her inner-child that adores concert and musics.
The two got in into the venue and find their seats. They got the VIP Seated, section 220. The section is a great choice as it is near the extended stage and can see the main stage clearly.
"THIS IS FOR REAL!" Elisha screamed
"I KNOW RIGHT!" Y/N agreed
The two takes pictures and selfies together. Of course, she brought some names with her and pictures it. She sends it to the people.
Not long after, the concert starts. The VCR is showing and fans are screaming at the top of their lungs as if there is no tomorrow.
Y/N and Elisha are also screaming, they would not miss this opportunity to scream like this is their last day on Earth.
ENHYPEN shows up on the stage and cheers erupts more louder than earlier.
Given-Taken, the first show on the setlist. The debut song of ENHYPEN.
Y/N did not notice but her eyes let out a tear, she don't know what kind of tear though. She have been supporting the boys since I-Land days and now she is witnessing them live not via her phone.
It's a dream come true for her.
It feels like home. Scratch that, she is home. Home where she belongs. The same feeling when she saw BTS, SVT and TXT live on stage for the first time.
She knew it was only a parasocial relationship. It's just idols doing their jobs. But something in BTS,SVT, TXT, and ENHYPEN feels different, it's like they are returning their fans' feelings. They are just different from different idols.
This is what home feels like.
Ment, they are doing a ment. Heeseung already comes back to the stage along with the other members.
"Psst, raise your banner. Heeseung is looking this way." The person behind her said
"Okay." Y/N said
Y/N raised her banner and Heeseung notices it.
"Heeseung be my prom date on March 30." Heeseung read out loud on the microphone.
"Oh! We can be your bodyguards!" Sunghoon said
Sunoo and Jay agreed with Sunghoon.
"Of course, I can be your prom date~" Heeseung replied with a killer wink and smile.
Y/N almost fainted on her seat, she got that on video too.
"Girl, you got yourself a date!" Elisha exclaimed
"I know...." Y/N said registering the interaction she had with her bias since I-Land.
Everyone in her section and row congratulates her for winning a life.
[ @/heesmoon ]
I won the life. I'm going to the prom with a date! *Insert video of Heeseung and her interaction.* *Insert the banner picture.*
Not even a solid fifteen minutes, the tweet reaches 2k likes on twitter. The reply section always makes her laugh,
Y/N put her phone back in her bag and continue watching the concert. She will sleep tonight, smiling, giggling, kicking her feet as she had an interaction with her bias. Typical fan behavior.
Y/N raised her another banner and this time the three other members are back then starts recording. It's Jungwon who noticed it.
"Hyung! The same girl is asking if we can attend her graduation." Jungwon said in Korean and let the translator translate it.
"ENHYPEN please watch my graduation." Ni-Ki read out loud
"Congrats on your graduation." Sunoo congratulated
"Tell us the details later." Jake said
Y/N officially died on her seat, just kidding. She posted it on twitter and again her tweet got to 2k likes fast than ever.
"How come you are still alive after that?" The girl on her left asked
"I don't know too, maybe because I still have a prom to attend and a graduation to attend too...." Y/N joked
The concert has come to an end. Y/N cried her eyes out when SHOUT OUT was being performed. And it goes the same to Elisha, the tow comfort each other in a hug. They successfully finished the concert without any problems at all.
They also collected confettis and Elisha got to bring a signed ball home from Jay.
"Ms? Are you the one with the banner?" A staff asked
"Yes." Y/N replied
"Follow me." The staff said
"Oh...Okay." Y/N agreed
Y/N bid Elisha goodbye as they part ways. Y/N follows the staff and her heart is beating very fast as if it wants to go out of her chest.
Y/N wipes her happy tears away, she still cannot go over the fact that she witnessed ENHYPEN live even just for one day.
"Wait here." The staff said
Y/N bury her face on her palms.
"Hello." Happee Sy greeted
"OMG! Inang, hello po! Thank you for bring ENHYPEN to the Philippines and for being the best concert organizer in the Philippines." Y/N thanked
"Aw, I know the feels, girl. That is why we deserve this." Happee Sy stated
"What's your name?" Happee Sy asked
"Y/N L/N" Y/N answered
"Well, Y/N today is your lucky day. Heeseung didn't sing Polaroid love to you but you got him to agree to be your prom date." Happee Sy stated
"Thank you. Did Winter and London already went off? I really want to see them." Y/N said
"Yes, there's always next time." Happee Sy sadly replied.
Happee Sy is now following Y/N both personal and fan accounts in twitter. Then the organizer went off as she have two more days to worry about.
"This way, Ms. Y/N." The staff said as he gesture her to go inside the room. Y/N gulped hard, never in her entire life she gulped this hard.
Y/N lucky her, she studied Korean thanks to her aunt who sponsored her Korean lessons. She goes inside to see ENHYPEN standing there, smiling at her.
Her knees almost gives up, she almost melt on the floor.
"1! 2! Connect!" Jungwon said
"Hello we are ENHYPEN!" The rest followed
Never in her life, she thought if seeing ENHYPEN this close.
"H-hi..." Y/N greeted
She really want to dig a hole and hide in it forever after stuttering in front of her idols.
"It's okay! We get that you are nervous and shy." Jake assured
"Thank you." Y/N replied
"Do you speak Korean?" Heeseung asked
"Yes, I took Korean lessons." Y/N answered
The boys let out a breath of relief that they didn't knew they were holding back.
"Congratulations on your graduatiobn! Can you tell us about more of it and the details?" Jay asked
"Of course! On June 30 will be my graduation. You can watch it on youtube live or facebook live or watch it in person." Y/N said
"But what is the school name?" Sunoo asked
"FEU Alabang or Far Eastern University Alabang." Y/N answered
"How about your prom?" Heeseung brought up
"March 30 in Okada Manila at 7pm." Y/N replied
"I can't wait for it!" Ni-Ki exclaimed
"Our first official non-idol friend excluding our friends in Korea." Sunghoon said
Y/N smile at the statement at least they call her their friend.
"Your name is Y/N L/N, right?" Heeseung said
"Yep, that's my name." Y/N confirmed
The group exchanged numbers and social media accounts with Y/N to keep contact with her. After all, she is their new friend now.
Y/N got back to their house, change into her home attire. She flops onto her bed and opens twitter.
She saw her notification, she is blowing up in twitter. A lot of people mentions her saying how lcuky she is to be noticed by ENHYPEN.
Luckily, when the staff picked her up to meet ENHYPEN. It's only Elisha who knew about it.
Y/N told her family and shows the proof, nonetheless her family is veru supportive.
[ Kabaliktaran sa akin eh :( ]
She got added into a group chat named En-friend, it was only them seven and her in the kakaotalk group.
They talked, it was a blooming friendship. A friendship that could last a life time.
March quickly arrived as if it could not wait for the prom.
Y/N opens her kakaotalk to see the guys spamming her.
[ Jungleader: Y/N-ah! Heeseung hyung is on the way there. ]
Y/N is confused. Why is he on the way here? Is he really bringing her to the prom?
[ N/Nthebeauty: What why? Are you serious? @/Heeace? ]
[ Sungvisual: Check dispatch, their live covering his arrival at Incheon. ]
Y/N waste no time but to check the youtube of said network.
They are live, waiting for Heeseung's arrival at the airport. She look at the comment section.
[ user: I wonder where he is going? ]
[ user: Maybe Belift gave them vacation and Hee is going to his vacation. ]
Y/N smile at to her phone, it gives her butterflies knowing the fact that her bias is giving his best.
Meanwhile, at the airport. Heeseung arrived at the airport private entrance not wanting to be mobbed again by medias and fans.
"Why are you doung this? Heeseung?" Sejin asked
"I'm doing this because..." Heeseung knows his answer but he don't know how will his manager react.
"Because you like her?" Sejin continued
"Do you believe in love at first sight, hyung?" Heeseung asked
"Of course, I do. That is why some BTS members are dating someone now." Sejin answered
"Then count me in. Her aura attracted me despite the crowd my eyes could not get off of her. Like she have this magnetic force." Heeseung said
"You are a grown up, you know what to do and what not to do." Sejin assured
"Did you know her bias since I-Land is me. She said that she have been loyal fan of mine. She isn't afraid of telling the truth to me, to us." Heeseung stated
"I can see sincerity and admirstion in her eyes when she talked to you guys back in Febuary." Sejin said
"Let's go, your princess is waiting." Sejin added
Heeseung almost choke on his own salive. He stands up following his Sejin hyung to the check-in counter.
To the medias and fans dismay, Heeseung did not showed up at the airport. They thought that Heeseung already flew somewhere.
[ user: Aw man! I really want to see Heeseung. ]
After awhile, the plane starts to let the passangers board. Heeseung and his team boards the first-class.
He could not wait seeing Y/N. The alone time he only get with Y/N is when the other members are inactive or when the other members could not join their daily video chat.
At the L/N's house, the family prepares different kinds of Filipino dish while Y/N just stare at her phone waiting for Heeseung to contact her.
[ Heeace: Y/Nnie, I'm at the plane now. ]
[ N/Nthebeauty: Thank God, I thought you disappeared! ]
[ Ni-Kithegiant: Noona was very concern of you. She started to spam every one of us asking about you. ]
[ SUNshine: Can vouch for that. ]
Y/N closes her phone as she shakes her head in denial of what the others are saying.
Her phone rings, she look at it. Heeseung is inviting her to a video call and of course she accpeted it.
"Hee! You should rest while in the plane." Y/N scolded
"I'm sorry. But I really wanted to see you!" Heeseung defended himself
"Stop acting like you are not going here and see me." Y/N said
Heeseung chuckles at Y/N's actions and words.
"Y/N, I will be sleeping there. I think your parents already know and my team will be staying at the Okada." Heeseung informed
"Yeah, I know. My family already cooked a lot of Filipino dish for you." Y/N said
"Tell them I said Thank you." Heeseung replied
Hearing her voice and her laugh always brings Heeseung happiness. It always brighten up his day.
Later on, Heeseung and his team arrived at the NAIA Terminal 1. They board the provided black van for them.
"Let's drop Heeseung first and then we settle in." Sejin said
"Okay." Heeseung agreed
Y/N who is resting on her bed hears her mother shouting her name.
"Y/N your beloved guest is here!" Her mother shouted
Y/N sprinted to the living room to see Heeseung in his iconic Thisisneverthat black shit and black cargo pants with his black combat boots.
Heeseung smile at the scene as he see Y/N. The boy make the first move, he hugs her. She was frozen first but returned the hug later on.
"Lovebirds these days." Her father, Jaime said
"Let them be!" Her mother, Lei scolded
Heeseung and Y/N let go of the hug, both have their cheeks in bright red.
"Heeseung-ah, your room is beside Y/N's room. After that, you eat with us." Her mother informed
"Okay, Ms?" Heeseung is confused what to call Y/N's mother.
"Call me auntie." Her mother said
"Thank you, auntie." Heeseung replied
Heeseung brings his stuffs with him and follows Y/N to his bedroom. She opens the door for him revealing his tidy space for the month.
"Can I see your room?" Heeseung asked
"Sure but after you unpack and eat with my parents." Y/N replied
Heeseung unpacks his things with the help of Y/N, he could not help but notice the cute habit of Y/N making sure everything is perfect.
"Thank you for helping me, love." Heeseung said
Y/N cheeks turns red as she heard her nickname, the sight of Y/N blushing make Heeseung smirk.
March 30 came so fast. The two are in Okada. Thanks to Heeseung, Y/N got a whole glam team dedicated to her.
Her silver off-shoulder with strap gown is laid down on the bed. Of course, Heeseung hand-picked his own suit to wear. His black suite and silver tie goes along with her gown.
The hair team curled Y/N's hair and put some flower clips on her hair. While the make-up team decided to go for little make up as Y/N is already beautiful.
The time quickly went by and Y/N is already in her attire, same goes for Heeseung.
Heeseung waits for Y/N to go out of her room to go together at the venue. The door clicked open revealing Y/N in gown.
Heeseung's mouth is wide open, he quickly collected himself.
"You look stunning as ever, love." Heeseung complimented
"I can say the same for you, Hee." Y/N returned
She got use of Heeseung calling her love. She told the other members about it and at the end she got scolded by them.
The two arrived at the venue, all jaws went to the floor not because of Y/N but because of Heeseung.
They all thought Y/N was being delusional but she was not. She did really bring Heeseung as her date.
The program went on and now its time for their cotillion. Heeseung and Y/N practiced it together.
The song choses was Young and Beautiful by Lana Del Rey.
Y/N's right hand intertwined with Heeseung's while his left hand is on her waist and her left hand on his shoulder.
While dancing, Heeseung comed up with a brilliant plan. That is to confess to Y/N right now.
"Y/N, I want to tell you something." Heeseung said
"What is it?" Y/N asked
"I-I liked you since I laid my eyes on you. Scratch that, I fell in love with you since the day I met you. It was love at first sight. I know this is way too fast paced but I couldn't wait." Heeseung confessed
Y/N was speechless, her bias confessed to her right now.
"Hee, I feel the same too. But I love you longer than you love me." Y/N replied
Heeseung kissed Y/N on the lips as the music plays. The two pulls away after a solid 2 minutes kiss.
"Will you still love me when I'm no longer Young and beautiful~" Y/N sings along
Heeseung smile at Y/N knowing the fact that he will love her, every version of her in every universe out there.
"I will, my love. I will." Heeseung assured
After 3 months, its already her graduation. Heeseung told everyone he knows about his relationship and same goes to Y/N.
The ENHYPEN members decided to fly to the Philippines and witness her graduation in person.
Y/N spots them among the crowd because they are attracting the crowd itself.
Heeseung open his arms for her and Y/N run in for a hug. The two hug each other as if they are not in public.
They just did not care and Heeseung already planned everything out from the present to the future.
The members congratulate Y/N and treated her with a nice meal.
She was thankful for that one person who encouraged her to raise her banner up. Because without them, she will not in this place.

[The Keihancarl Diaries: September 16, 2023]
Hi everyone, Keihancarl here. This will be my second time at the Manila International Book Fair/MIBF post-pandemic (my fifth overall since 2017), plus my first time attending the Best Of Anime/BoA (if I manage to get there before the onsite tickets run out). And so, let’s begin!
xxxxxxxxxx
I’m wearing all-black with a splash of red. Well, except for the shirt, since I decided to wear the Kei Tsukishima shirt (a black shirt with an orange and white print) that I bought online more than a month ago. I decided to wear the black fleece coat and black fingerless gloves as well, hoping that I wouldn’t be mistaken as a cosplayer (as was the case back in 2018, during Pinoy Otaku Festival: Ai, though it only happened once). I was initially planning to wear my red plaid scarf, but I decided to ditch it at the last minute.
I decided to leave the house around 9:45 AM (supposedly 9:00 AM), knowing that I’d be dealing with heavy traffic (particularly along Commonwealth Avenue) later.
I reached the MRT North Avenue station within an hour from SM Fairview. Surprisingly, the travel time was a bit faster than expected. Traffic was incredibly light in most parts of Commonwealth Avenue. Along the way, some of the MRT-7 stations are being constructed, with a few of them nearing completion.
The entire MRT ride took me 45 minutes. Getting off at Taft Avenue station, I rode the EDSA Bus Carousel to the Mall Of Asia Complex. Reaching the area, I immediately head to SMX Convention Center (via the elevated bridgeway, coming from MOA Square/IKEA area) to check out Best Of Anime 2023: The Reunion (the event is only for one day, as opposed to two days). It took me 20 minutes to buy the ticket and get inside the venue.
Inside, it feels different. The venue is quite large and there are awesome stalls selling various anime merch. There are food stalls on the side, offering a variety of snacks and meals.
And speaking of which, I treat myself to a serving of gyoza (4 pieces). I didn't buy any drinks, though.
I get to see performances by Starmarie and Chicken Blow The Idol, plus a cosplay talk with AC Hernandez. There was also the official launch of Ani-One Philippines, but I never got to witness it as I already left the venue by then.
I stayed inside the venue for about two hours and bought a couple of souvenirs: a small Domo plushie from Splat.MNL (I used to see their store at Trinoma several years back) and a couple of magnetic bookmarks from Khel_Gotcha (I couldn't remember which stall). I also had a couple of selfies with the cosplayers as well outside the venue.
I head down to the ground floor where the Manila International Book Fair was held. As soon as I got in, I checked some of the booths, including Tuttle, Black Ink Comics, Tankobonbon, and Psicom, among others.
Fully Booked made a comeback at this year's MIBF. National Book Store is notably absent in this event.
There were long lines in some of the booths. Also, there are numerous book signings as well.
As with the previous MIBF visits (except 2018), I never bought anything. I was actually interested in the book No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai (the one I saw at the Tuttle booth), which also had a manga version. Both the novel and the manga are not available in the country yet, the one managing the booth told me. That would've been an awesome souvenir from the event, but… oh well.
At this point, I was starting to get hungry so I decided to leave SMX and head directly to the Mall Of Asia. It took me a while to find a restaurant. Fast food chains are always full of diners and with long lines at the counter.
I initially chose Greenwich, but the long line to the counter made me decide against it. And then there's Pepper Lunch, but I changed my mind at the last minute. I finally decided on Classic Savory.
I chose a solo meal with buttered fried chicken and salt-and-peppered ribs. The buttered fried chicken is okay, but five pieces? I almost had to take out the remaining chicken since I couldn't eat anymore, but I managed to consume them anyway.
Moving on, I checked some of the shops inside the mall, including Muji and Fully Booked. I even passed by ChaTraMue, an original Thai tea shop, but I never got to try any of their drinks.
The heavy rainfall that afternoon made it impossible for me to go to the Esplanade. Instead, the rooftop garden, with the view of Manila Bay and the MOA Eye, became my outdoor setting for some selfies. It was already dark when I got there, though, and the rain had already stopped by then.
The two sculptures are yet to be revealed.
Oh look, there’s a nun by the stairs.
Afterward, it's time for IKEA. Well, I could've visited it right after the MIBF, but I was starting to get hungry at that point, hence the need for a late lunch (more like an early dinner).
Anyway, it was already quarter to seven when I got there, so I had to check much of the area as fast as I could. It took me almost an hour to check out some of the furniture and some home furnishings and even took some wacky selfies.
I could've bought something there, but I hold off for now.
These would make awesome containers, especially for fruit salads.
The LED screen at the MOA Arena was finally fixed. The last time I checked, it looked kind of glitchy. Also, the MOA Globe is lit. Too bad I never get to take a pic.
And it's time to go home. It didn't take me long enough to catch the UV Express ride to SM Fairview. Traffic is light in most parts of the route, but there's heavy traffic past the Batasan portion of Commonwealth Avenue northbound. I even witnessed a traffic accident in that area.
I reached SM Fairview around 9:20 PM. The mall was still open so I took some time to check the area. I couldn't check Booksale though, as they are already closed for the day (though the lights were still on). I got home about 30 minutes later.
xxxxxxxxxx
Two events in one awesome Saturday afternoon. An anime convention and a book fair? That was an awesome match. I thought I wouldn't be able to check out the first one since there'll be a potential amount of visitors coming from the book fair. And it's a one-day event too. But the event wasn't jampacked, unlike the book fair below.
I'm so glad I finally get to see another anime convention, and the second for this year after Pinoy Otaku Festival 2023: Shizen (I never got to attend Coshabatsu last July, so that obviously didn't count). Next month, there's the Ozine event at the Fairview Terraces, which will happen a few days after my birthday. My next mall-hopping trip should take me to the BGC and Makati areas, and I'm already planning it. Looking forward to visiting Mitsukoshi BGC, perhaps?
And that concludes everything that happened on that awesome day. Arigato and sayonara! Until next time!

I have traveled to:
More than three states in the US
Mexico
Canada
A place that starts with the letter L I mean yeah I guess. No famous countries or cities or anything like that but I've traveled to local provinces with cities starting with L.
Austria
An island I live in an archipelago.
A big city Sure! Manila, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore.
Anywhere in Africa
Japan I've been to Fukuoka.
A place where English is not the main language That would be Korea, Japan, China, Thailand, and Indonesia for me.
Anywhere in the southern hemisphere If I'm not mistaken, Indonesia ticks that box.
India
Netherlands
I Have Read:
Any of the Bible I had to read it every single day in Catholic school for nearly 15 years. I had to read the four Gospels, mainly, but I also had this brief phase in like 6th grade where I wanted to challenge myself to read the Bible in its entirety (I didn't get to accomplish it).
At least two Harry Potter books I read a good part of it but stopped by the blue book(?) because the plots were starting to feel a little repetitive.
The entire Twilight series I've done this, but I've done more rewatches of the entire movie series moreso than the book.
Catch-22
Animal Farm
A Dr. Seuss book I'm sure I did as a kid. My favorite Dr. Seuss memory though was watching the Cat in the Hat movie over and over.
Instructions to a piece of Ikea information
A warning label that made me laugh
A biography/autobiography This is my favorite genre.
Dante’s Inferno
A Chuck Palahniuk book
A newspaper in the last week
Something that made me cry
I Like to Eat:
Spam I like spam, but when it's part of spamsilog. Spam on its own is on the salty side so I like to have other flavors to balance it out.
Mexican food It's not the 1st or 5th cuisine I'd look for but I like it nonetheless. I only have certain favorites though, like burritos.
Brussell sprouts
Onions Especially when they come as fried onion bits in burgers.
Watermelon
Vegan food I love trying out vegan meals whenever I can! Not a lot of vegan offerings where I live to begin with, so it's something I explore when I get the chance.
Bacon I might be in the minority but I love my bacon on the non-crispy side.
Chocolate
New things I'm very adventurous when it comes to food and am open to trying pretty much anything as long as they aren't made with fruit.
Escargot Love snail. We have a local dish where we cook them in coconut milk and it's one of my favorites.
Hummus Hummus is great! I discovered it in high school when I was attending college entrance review classes, and I haven't looked back since lol.
Haggis
Indian food My favorite cuisine.
Home cooking Home-style meals always feel like a warm hug, especially when it's Filipino food.
Fast food Not too much of it but I do indulge myself from time to time.
My Favorite Actors Include:
Mark Wahlberg
Morgan Freeman
James Franco
Leonardo DiCaprio His acting skills are undeniable but I'm just a little 50-50 on him these days due to his dating choices, and that makes it difficult to vouch for him fully.
Robert DeNiro
Samuel L. Jackson
Chris Hemsworth
Elijah Wood
Johnny Depp
Steve Buscemi
Robin Williams His performance in Good Will Hunting changed me. I still hold on to his delivery of "It's not your fault."
Jack Black
Channing Tatum
I Have Listened to These Bands:
Taylor Swift Only because I have no choice. She's everywhere.
AC/DC
Jay-Z The Watch the Throne album raised me throughout my middle school years.
Frank Sinatra
Pink Floyd
Fall Out Boy Folie A Deux is my favorite album of theirs.
Incubus
No Doubt
The White Stripes
Skrillex LOL yes. Dubstep was crazy popular when I was in high school and I'm more than ready to admit I had a big Skrillex phase at the time.
Tenacious D I was obsessed with playing Rock Band when I was younger and the game I played had a Tenacious D track in it, so that's how I came to know the band.
Metallica I must've listened to For Whom the Bell Tolls a million times after Triple H came out to it during one of the past Wrestlemanias.
Britney Spears She was huge on radio from 2008-2011 and I lovedddddd all the singles that came out at the time.
Ke$ha If you told me to summarize 2009 in one word I would answer with Ke$ha. Sis blew up overnight and Tik Tok was playing everywhere.
The Beatles I tried to like them because everyone had been listening to them, but I couldn't find myself becoming a fan of the music.
I Have/Had These Pets:
Dog I had Kimi for 14 years, and currently I have a 4-year-old and 2-year-old in Cooper and Agi.
Cat My sister had Arlee for a few years, and I took care of her for a bit when Nina had to stay in her dorm for college.
Horse
Bird We owned a pair of lovebirds a little over a decade ago.
Hamster
Lizard
Snake
Guinea Pig
Goat
Fish Had several goldfish as a kid.
Mouse
Spider
Pig
Hedgehog
Ferret
I Have Seen These Movies:
Fifth Element
Gone With the Wind I was introduced to classic Hollywood by an ex, and Gone with the Wind had been one of the first movies I got to watch. I owned the book and read the first few chapters, too, but ultimately never got to finish reading it.
Nightmare Before Christmas
High School Musical Pretty much took over my life in grade school. I had (and still have) the choreo to We're All In This Together memorized and I've lost count of the many birthday parties I was invited to that were High School Musical-themed.
Kickin’ It Old School
Casablanca I must've tried watching Casablanca more than ten times, but it always bored me.
Predator
White Men Can’t Jump
AVATAR
12 Years A Slave I've seen a few bits, but not the whole movie.
Saving Private Ryan
MASH
Mamma Mia!
Dark Shadows

Philosophy I had to take it for a couple of years in high school and HATEDDDDD IT. French
Theater
Choir
Psychology I took a psych elective since psychology was one of my dream courses and I figured taking a bunch of psych electives can let me be immersed in their world, but my prof wasn't the best and it put me off from taking any further psych electives. Ikinari Steak from Japan Opens First Philippine Branch at Mall of Asia
We went on a trip to Japan during the holidays and one of my favorite dining experiences there was a dinner at Ikinari Steak in Shinjuku, Tokyo. It was my first time eating at Ikinari Steak and a lot of my friends recommended that we try it, so we made sure to include it on our jam-packed itinerary. We really loved their big and juicy steak portions served on sizzling plates, so we were pleasantly surprised when we found out that Ikinari Steak had just opened its first branch in the Philippines that very same week.
Ikinari Steak, the world-famous steakhouse chain from Japan has just opened its first Philippine outlet and the first in Southeast Asia last December 18, 2022 at the ground floor of MOA Square in SM Mall of Asia. You can find it right at the busy corner of the IKEA building on the street level, just in front of the SMX convention center. I really enjoyed their steaks in Japan, so I visited Ikinari Steak Philippines with my friends last week right after I got back to Manila.
Ikinari Steak first opened in Tokyo in 2013 and now has over 300 stores worldwide. Ikinari Steak literally means “sudden steak” because it is known to have a fast and casual no-frills dining setup in Japan where the main star is the steak itself. It is open daily during mall hours until 10:00pm but the lines tend to get quite long during lunch and dinner schedules, especially during the holidays.
As you can see, the logos and the tag lines are exactly the same with the branch I visited in Tokyo. I felt the same level of excitement as I walked through the doors of their new branch in Manila.
The main difference between the Tokyo branch and the MOA branch is that we have bigger tables and more seats here. The outlets in Japan mostly have bar seats due to their limited space and quick dining setup, while ours have a more family and group-friendly environment.
Your ikinari Steak experience starts as you enter the restaurant. You can order right away at the cashier and choose from the steak selections on the menu.
Ikinari Steak is known for their “Order Cut System” where you can choose how big you want your steak and it will be hand-cut according to your desired weight. First, choose which part of beef you want. They have ribeye steak, tenderloin steak, striploin steak, and chuck eye steak.
Next, tell the cashier and the steak-cutter how many grams you would like your steak to be. There is a minimum order of 200 grams for each cut of steak, which is typically good enough for a hungry diner. But since I’m really a big steak lover, I asked for 300 grams of ribeye steak.
They will then slice your specific order of steak and you can even watch them do this at the open kitchen. It usually won’t be the very exact weight but it will surely be close. You then pay for your steak per gram.
Once you pay for your orders, just head over to your designated tables and wait for your orders to be served. Ikinari Steak in MOA has both indoor and outdoor seatings, although it’s not really that big, so hopefully they open their next branches soon.
Try their Ikinari Beer (P199) for a more authentic Japanese dining experience. They also have Sapporo premium draft beers, yuzu chuhai, wines, and sodas.
For starters, order their Beef Soup (P60) with its warm and hearty broth. They also have a Salad (P60) that you can top off with their Japanese dressings.
There are also other condiments and sauces on the table for you to explore including wasabi (yes, the Japanese put this on their steak!), karashi (spicy mustard), plus a sweet steak sauce and a mildly spicy steak sauce.
Ikinari Steak Philippines uses Certified Angus Beef for all of their steak offerings. The beef is simply seasoned with salt and pepper. There’s really no need for anything further since the steak is truly the star of the show. Each order of steak comes with one bowl of rice.
The most popular and value-for-money item at Ikinari Steak is their Wild Steak (200g-P599 / 300g-P850 / 450g-P1195). The chairman of Ikinari called this wild steak because it uses the chuck eye portion which is not typically used for steak. This is 300 grams of Certified Angus Beef topped with their signature white pepper margarine.
They also have lunch promos offering their Wild Steak Diced Cut (200g-P566 / 300g-P780) which has chuck eye steak cut into smaller portions. The Diced Cuts can be ordered together as a set that includes one salad, soup, rice, and a can of soda for only an additional P100. I still prefer my steak served whole but this is a more affordable option on the menu.
Kids who may not be able to handle big steaks yet can order the Ikinari Hamburg Steak (200g-P475 / 300g-P610). This sizzling burger is definitely a giant upgrade to the other burger steaks offered around the city.
Of course, the main specialty at Ikinari Steak are their By The Cut steaks. After you order your desired steak and weight, these will be grilled and delivered to your table on a sizzling plate. My favorite is the Ribeye (P1199 for 200g or P5.99 per gram) which is the most flavorful cut of steak. My order is actually 300 grams but I still can’t get enough if it!
The Angus beef is really juicy and flavorful. Their steak is served rare but you can customize it on your sizzling plate by letting it cook according to your preferred doneness. This is one of the main features at Ikinari Steak as you can have your steak the way you want it. I like my steak medium so I did not leave it too long on the plate.
The Striploin (P1199 for 200g or P5.99 per gram) is another option for those who prefer a balance between flavor and texture. Each serving of steak comes with corn, carrots, and brocolli. Spread the white pepper margarine over the steak and douse it with their signature sauces for the complete Ikinari experience.
Most diners often go for the Tenderloin (P1345 for 200g or P6.73 per gram) because it is known to be the most tender and juiciest portion. I really don’t mind getting any of these steaks for myself because they are all so good.
Ikinari Steak Philippines is now my new favorite steak restaurant not just because of their delicious sizzling steak offerings, but also because they are all so affordable too! There’s no need to wait for a special occasion or a fancy dinner date to enjoy this meaty adventure. I actually went back for more sizzling steaks the very next day!

Read the full article
