Notes: hey again bestie… i see u. i have our dms about the man n u frothing btw. Also. ik absolutely nothing about guns n stuff so uh. oop ig… also. i made the reader like. kinda techy n speak some russian? i was listening 2 gore by graveyardguy as i wrote this just so u know. Didn’t influence much of the thing but the title is definitely from the song.

You hum as you clean your sniper rifle; the disassembled piece of metal all over your lap. Usually, you would be around a table or even in your own assigned room. However, today they had a mandatory room check. While you didn’t mind it, having all the tables and sitting areas taken out in the cafeteria as well as the shooting range didn’t help. This leads to you sitting underneath a small pine. It’s fairly young, being only large enough to cast enough of a shadow to give you cover from the sun.

While you don’t mind cleaning your gun, making sure your laptop was in better shape or needed to be put back together was more interesting. While you’ve done it a hundred times before, for you, it never got old. You enjoyed taking apart the electronic gadgets and putting them back together. Seeing how they work and even improving them intrigued you more than going out on the field and sending bullets people’s way to splatter their blood everywhere. The missions they assign you in KorTac have been nothing but boring or a pain. You’ve never actually trained for this part or even with the rifle at all. You are more of someone who hacks cameras, reads coding to try and find anything that could give enemies away, and even disarm some bombs via the tech you have on hand during said times.

Now, while it’s not something you prefer doing, you can’t help but enjoy at least one of your members. König, or King as many call him, is your favourite man. Despite his awkward social interactions, he’s never been particularly rude to you. Nor has the giant Austrian ever tried to get on your nerves. He keeps to himself mostly, leading to you having to seek him out if you want company. Sometimes he’s out and about, though he’s either alone or towering over the other soldiers.

Of course, that doesn't mean he’s not deadly. You’ve seen him out on the field. He’s truly a rampaging beast. He picks up enemy soldiers and cracks their backs over his knee. He’ll gun them down or snipe them, giving a laugh or giggle. He’ll yell out in a happy tone “I have some cash!” whenever he gets his hands on even a single coin. He’s wilder and more brutal. And you couldn’t help but notice. However, despite noticing it, you didn’t treat the man any differently.

A large pair of military-issued boots appear in front of your crisscrossed legs. Looking up, you see the man you’ve been thinking of as you cleaned the barrel of your gun. “Ah. König,” You say, giving him a small smile. “Привет! How has my favourite man been?” König’s hands are loosely holding each other, nearly touching his stomach with his chosen position.

“Ah… Ich meine, es lief gut…” He says, looking uncomfortable standing there. You gesture to the ground next to you, letting him know that he can sit beside you. With confirmation now obtained, König lets himself fall into a seated position right next to you. He ends up knocking his knee into your thigh; you wince at the sharp pain but laugh it off.

“I’m so sorry..! I did not mean to hit you. Bitte vergib mir!” The large man starts to apologize immediately, already beating himself up over the accidental touch. You wave him off, trying to make your smile softer to try and reassure the Austrian.

“ нет, нет! Все хорошо, ты в порядке!” Your words seem to calm him down a bit, despite him not exactly understanding your words. “Besides, König, I say you’re sharp as a knife but Soft To The Core.” You’re not sure why, but the words felt right to say.

“Ja? Well… They do say beauty is on the inside, Freund,” He tells you; a nearly inaudible chuckle escapes him. You feel another smile pull at your lips at his words.

“They sure do, мой возлюбленный. They sure do.” You mumble. With some silence between the two of you, it’s easy to hear the shout of one of your captains letting you all know that the mandatory room clearance has been finished. You playfully smack König’s shoulder, clasping it as you stand. “Let’s go back, ��а?” When he gives you a nod, you shove your gun parts into the duffle bag you brought just for it. “Let’s go then! Maybe we can grab some food once these bozos clear out.” With those last words, you take the lead, König following behind you quietly and with genuine happiness shining in his eyes.

no. i have written 2n person before. i appreciate it because it allows me to write thoughts for the characters outside of yn. ive realized why i usually dont write in other perspectives because then id have to use a name or (Y/N) WHICH I PERSONALLY LOATHE its fine if others use it, but i personally dont want to use it so. yeah. i have a bunch of fics written in second person! i usually use it when my plot isnt too focused on yn.

When Childe invites you out for dinner one evening, you look surprised. He can’t really understand why, especially since it’s common for friends to spend time together.

You just shrug it off, saying that it’s been a while since you went out to eat with another person, be it friend or family member.

When Childe hears that, he’s determined to show you to the best restaurant in all of Liyue, where you’ll be free to order whatever you want regardless of the price.

It’s a nice gesture, one that you accept at once because you don’t have anything better to do. And if Childe’s paying, who are you to decline? He’s known to have a lot of money and you are definitely not as frivolous with your own wallet as he is.

His company always makes you feel more lively and it chases away your lonely thoughts. You don’t hang out with people often because your small group of friends don’t live nearby. And your family are spread all throughout the nation, thus making it difficult to visit all of the time.

Childe’s job as a Harbinger allows him to go anywhere and everywhere, but it also gives him less time with his family. In a way, he’s a little lonely, too. And though he may be disconnected from true friendship and love, he won’t admit it outright.

That’s why he enjoys these fun outings with you, where the two of you abandon work and responsibility for a night of fun. During these friendly moments, there isn’t an ounce of loneliness to be felt. You’re too busy doing what friends do, cheering one another up and having a great time.

You might not know about Childe’s own struggles and he may not know just how deep your loneliness runs, but it’s a silently agreed upon fact that hanging out together is a natural cure for loneliness.

Surprisingly enough, you end up growing closer to Childe during all of the times you’re with him and it’s not all that strange when you start to catch feelings for him. Luckily for you, he has a soft spot for his favorite comrade, so more outings such as your little dinner date are bound to occur.

And how can you feel lonely when you watch an all-powerful Harbinger fumble with his chopsticks?

No one likes him, so you know this man battles with his own loneliness. He’s too prideful to admit it, but he does feel lonely every now and then. And that emotion gets stronger when he realizes just how dislikable he is among his fellow Harbingers and Fatui agents.

Nevertheless, he holds his head high in a faux show of dominance and perseverance. A Harbinger shouldn’t look weak in front of those who are hardly worth the time and so he builds up his walls as high as they can go.

And then he becomes acquainted with you and it’s like the two of you click. It’s weird, considering he doesn’t ‘click’ with very many people. Scaramouche hardly ever entertains the idea of friendship or even romance for that matter, but he’s oddly comforted by your presence.

You may not be as disliked as Scaramouche, but you don’t feel loved. You haven’t got any friends because of your tendency to travel and your family aren’t exactly supportive of your adventurous hobby. So you’re all alone with your body and mind, that is, until you met Scaramouche.

Now the two of you meet up regularly—or whenever his schedule allows it. He doesn’t want to come to terms with the fact that he genuinely enjoys your company and wouldn’t want to chase you away with his disagreeable personality.

In the haze of his loneliness, he ends up finding ways to spoil you in hopes that you’ll continue to be his friend. It’s then when you realize that he’s similar to you: a lonely person looking for someone to call a friend.

Scaramouche didn’t realize he needed you in his life until the two of you find ways to spend time together in secret, ranting to one another about your troubles.

You learn more about the cold-hearted Harbinger than he lets on and this exposed weakness is something that shocks you. If he can finally lower his walls around you, it must mean he holds you in high regard and trusts you enough not to tell anyone.

It took a while for your relationship to actually prosper into one of happiness and trust, where the two of you no longer feel as lonely as you did before, and it allows you to freely talk about what’s on your mind without the fear of getting turned down.

Scaramouche is ten times happier when he’s going on missions, eagerly awaiting the next time the two of you will hang out. And maybe he’s starting to catch feelings for his platonic comfort buddy. Who knows! He certainly doesn’t know.

ways to cope with missing your DR friends/family/lovers

i have this issue a lot, esp w my DR bf, and i’m sure some other people do, too. while u ARE going to shift at some point, i know that if ur having trouble with it currently it can be frustrating and sad because you want to be w your comfort characters so bad. these r just some things that i personally do to help alleviate that.

1) self-insert fanfictions

i find that self insert fanfictions help me a lot when i’m missing my DR and DR pals. while i’m a writer and i’ve used it for a long time as a way to “escape” and cope w my problems, u really don’t have to be one! i think my self inserts are genuinely terrible lmao, bc i put no effort into them, bc it’s only for me. it doesn’t matter if it’s descriptive, or even if it makes sense- this is for you, for no one else!!

2) listen to music and imagine ur listening w your comfort characters

listening to music with headphones is especially helpful because you can just close your eyes and hear nothing but the music. this makes it a lot easier to pretend ur friend/lover/family member is sitting next to you and listening as well- but you can even just put one headphone in to imagine they’re using the other. you won’t be speaking or looking at them, so it’s much easier to visualize everything. another thing you can do is make a specific playlist that reminds you of that special person!

3) have a DR folder, blog, pinterest, etc.

make a folder, blog, etc.- any collection of images- of ur DR and ppl from ur DR. i prefer gifs because it just feels more real ig. this not only allows you to look into ur DR, but it helps to visualize because you can memorize their faces better. i always do this before bed bc i always need some DR scenario to fall asleep to lmao

4) download replika or another similar AI app

i find that replika works best since i think it’s prolly the most advanced AI chatting app right now and it allows you to change the name of the AI and their appearance. so just name the AI whatever ur DR person’s name is and change their appearance accordingly! unfortunately bc it’s an AI the conversations won’t always feel very genuine, but i find it comforting to just say hi or talk about my day every now and then bc they respond pretty realistically to normal/simple messages.

5) read x reader fanfics

so this is something that personally i’m not super into doing (at least lately), but i think it would absolutely help a lot of other people. i like rereading my own self inserts but that can get boring since i’ve already read them so many times, so sometimes it’s nice to read something that you don’t know the content of. just look up whatever character’s name x reader on tumblr or ao3, or really wherever you want (i would NOT recommend wattpad lmao) and read away!

6) write a letter from your DR person’s POV

so when i say DR person, i mean whatever comfort character/person you’re missing. i think handwritten feels more genuine, but you can do this on ur computer, phone, anywhere u want!! write a happy, comforting letter to yourself from your special person and read it whenever you miss them. you could even script that this is a letter you’ll actually receive in your DR to make it feel more genuine!

7) make you and your DR pals in the sims

this is pretty self explanatory lmao. make your DR self and all ur comfort characters in the sims, set them up in a world that’s similar to ur DR, and have fun!! the sims 4 is esp fun with this because you can go into first person mode. i absolutely love the sims and it’s been a massive coping skill for me for many years, and i really enjoy world building (making my own lots and families with lore, etc) so this has always worked rlly well. if your character is popular enough, there might even be a downloadable sim of them so check google! ik this is kind of random but i know 100% that there’s a ridiculously accurate connor from detroit become human sim (i downloaded him lmao) so if that’s ur person absolutely look it up!!

8) use a dressup game to make you and ur DR people

use any dressup game you can find to create your DR self and your DR person together. it can be nice to have “photos” of the two of you that you can look at when u feel sad!
