Has anyone noticed how insane Bakugo is at listening in on conversations

If he’s not yelling he literally makes no noise. He’s either at 120% or zero

The only other real person who’s shown with the ability to kind of just overhear stuff because they’re quiet and in the right place at the right time is HAGAKURE. She’s freaking invisible

Bakugo is almost always listening. Except when he’s yelling and blowing things up. But even then he STILL DOES WHAT HES TOLD. It’s rare that he won’t listen to someone. Midoriya on the other hand

SPEAKING OF MIDORIYA

Bakugo calls Midoriya and All Might out more than once for being super obvious and weird. He has social and situational awareness, he just chooses to be the worst on purpose

What’s extra hilarious is that he’s a fantastic student and has the third best grade in class second only to Iida and Yaoyorozu. He listens to Best Jeanist, Endeavor, Aizawa and All Might, he just has to mouth off first. He’s shockingly well behaved about 80% of the time, people just tend to not look past his blustering

Kirishima and Kaminari do though. They figure out he’s all bark and no bite and decide they’re besties. Shoto manages to get close to Bakugo because he’s the perfect friend match. He doesn’t get insulted easily (his dad is Endeavor), he’s not afraid of Bakugo (his dad is Endeavor) and he tends to not have a super refined social awareness (his dad is Endeavor). Bakugo’s noise literally rolls off Shoto’s back and he calls Bakugo his friend

Example 1 and most important of Bakugo listening, filing something away and finding a good time to bring it up later

Bakugo reminding Midoriya and All Might to be discreet. He came up behind Midoriya so quietly he didn’t hear him. All Might didn’t see him either

In Heroes Rising, Bakugo happens to overhear Midoriya talking to Mahoro, continued to listen, lost his popsicle BUT KEPT LISTENING

Bakugo IS loud. Sometimes. But he’s mad quiet the rest of the time and I feel like that’s really good character development and something most writers wouldn’t incorporate to their loud mouthy characters

last time we were here it was a couple weeks when you two came back from your date

he got you that gift basket of things you eyed while window shopping, and your heart soard

as of now, it had been two months since your date, and you guys haven't gone out yet due to midterm exams coming up

but you've been setting for group study sessions with your classmates, in the dorm lounge

everyone's going insane and they're all pretty serious about studying

especially iida, he doesn't glance up at you much or now since his nose is always deep into his notes

he didn't realize but you felt a little distant, and a little scared that his feelings for you went away

you got up from your spot beside him and went back up to your room, to try and get some space

he didn't realize you were gone until his hand swung down and tried to hold yours

after asking around he found out you went up to your room to 'rest up'

he knocked on the door anad called for you, and you opened the door just a tiny crack

when everyone went in, you stayed outside for a little longer to look up at the pretty moon and stars

i was thinking about it today, though, and as much fun as it is to joke about iida insisting on the rules and then going off the rails to kill someone, i think that the murder attempt is actually just a logical extension of his rules lawyer personality at the beginning of the manga. i mean, when you think about it, he and stain are just two sides of the same coin.

right from the beginning, iida's shown to be someone who has an ideal worldview built on order and perfection and rules. in a perfect world, busses have rows, everyone follows the rules, and everything can be predicted and therefore controlled. so when imperfect people are crammed into this worldview, there's very little wiggle room for mistakes, inconsistency, or extenuating circumstances. and if someone Breaks The Rules, they deserve an appropriate punishment. that strict adherence to an ideal is....basically what stain believes too, but just with more murder. and iida catches up pretty quick after his brother is attacked. the jump from 'iida the righteous enforcer/punisher with the full weight of the law behind him' to 'iida the righteous avenger of his fallen brother' is in many ways the same as the leap from 'stendal the vigilante' to 'stain the murderer of everyone who falls short of all might's ideal.'

like, what is a just and appropriate punishment for a literal 'stain' on your perfect worldview? what's the punishment for someone who literally attacks the ideal you try to live up to? honestly, nothing less than full removal from said world is appropriate, for someone built so rigidly around order.

on a side note, i really really love that iida's role in the final battle is not one of a just punisher or an enforcer of a perfect and unyielding worldview; he's there as emotional and transportational support for todoroki. he's made the journey from 'rules over people' to 'people over rules' and i just... really love that.

Start Again x Divinity x Problem Children

I was originally wondering if there was any direct fallout from All for One murdering a nascent god of Heroism, or at least a very powerful elemental of that nature. You know, beyond the impact of ALL MIGHT of all people being killed on live tv. How would it affect 1-A, his protoge and the class he had spent the most time with?

Then I looked back on some posts, specifically this one, and some other cross overs with start again, and I wondered if the reason Akari goes to UA isn't just because of Nezu, or Uraraka, but because of how many of her new classmates became significant or a problem in the coming years.

And I don't mean that in a good way.

To list,

Uraraka: One of Akari's lieutenants, close friend

Momo: Warlord by the name of Goddess, possibly unhinged/more zealotous without a high priest who can adequately reign her in as in the cannon

Asui: One for all holder, possible inheritor of All Might's divinity, prob at UA

Speculation on my part,

Bakugo: Likely a brainwashed Nomu because petty AfO, possibly high end like Kurogiri, definitely walking weapon pointed in target's vague direction and let loose.

Kirishima: Likely keeps his quirk, attempt to rescue Bakugo gone wrong, lost sense of worth, tries to keep his group alive at any cost

Ashido: Same group as Kirishima, lost her quirk in the attempt to rescue the Bakugo Nomu, worryingly ruthless, Leads one of the largest nomadic groups

Kaminari: Same group as Kiri and Mina, lost his quirk, lieutenant, blank/emotionless as side effect

Sero: Scout/assassin of the group, barely kept his quirk (heteromorph) but shares same side effect as Kaminari

Sato: one of Momo's chosen, high rank

Mei: One of Momo's chosen, possibly high priest in this time line

Hagakure: Prominent assassin for higher (possibly unwillingly)

Todoroki: Unwilling leader of another group, Still has his quirk (long ranged fighter), desperate to keep his remaining family alive, longstanding grudge with Dabi

Koda: Likely another warlord, territory is Not Habitable To Humans Anymore

Pet Peeve:

Does anyone else find it really annoying when people misspell character's names when their character information is easily accessible? I'm thinking of two in specific, but I'm sure there's more.

This sweet young boy who may or may not have attempted to commit murder, and it's none of my business to spill what he may or may not have done:

This is a character from My Hero Academia. His name is NOT Lida Tenya, it's Iida Tenya, or Tenya Iida. With an I. I as in pronounced like eye.

And this motherfucker!!

This motherfucker is named Chrollo Lucilfer. His name isn't Chrollo Lucifer. Lucilfer, pronounced like if sulfur was spelt with an I.

I understand some of these are because of language barriers, and I am not at all criticizing that, I understand how difficult English is. But every time I see the misspell it makes me want to comment, but it's hard to do that without seeming like a critical bitch.

Use at your own discretion, I guess I can't stop you from misspelling their names, just a pet peeve of mine. There are others as well, but these two are the ones that come to mind.

“My luck is terrible and I stumbled across him,” Iida says. “I meant to hit the Heronet app but hit the class messaging app instead.”

“I did tell the sidekick I was with what was going on, she simply lost track of me due to genetic abomination,” Yaoyorozu says. “I didn’t realize she’d been knocked out of the way until too late and I was already on the rooftop.”

“And you two?” Shouta asks. 

“We were following the alert and knew both my father and all his sidekicks were distracted by the genetic abominations, and since it wasn’t like Iida to send a message to the class chat like that we decided to see what was going on,” Todoroki explains. “Stain was a surprise.”

“And the attempted murder of a villain?”

“We were attempting to apprehend, not murder,” Yaoyorozu says, looking almost offended. “We aren’t Midoriya or Monoma.”

“Hey!”

“Midoriya, you punched that yakuza leader so hard you collapsed his rib cage and Monoma used the man’s Quirk to somehow merge his arms into his torso.”

“Yes but he didn’t die!”

There’s a lot to say about this scoreboard. 

It’s no surprise that the top scorers with the least rescue points, Bakugou and Iida, are generally the least heroic of the hero students at this point in the story. (Bakugou spent the majority of his life beating down others for the sake of his own ego. Iida was too self-centered and by-the-book to the point of ignoring those in danger; and it didn’t take much for him to decide to try attempting murder.)

Also, the two characters with more rescue points than villain points, Izuku and Ochako, are the two that realized that there were also villains who were in need of saving. 

It’s interesting that this scoreboard implies that Kirishima and Shiozaki have the most balanced approach to heroism of the top scorers. And while it’s a running joke that Kirishima and Tetsutetsu are basically the same person, from their first “appearance” it’s clear that they have very different approaches to heroism, at least early on.

Look....can we say Izu ever had a Izusquad? Bc if he ever had one- flimsy line here- it is lost.

Iida punched him after Izu was coaxed to saved BK. Iida who wanted to murder a man and was saved by Izu. Iida who once Izu was in house arrest (the name alone bothers me) cater Aizawa's words and look at Izu as if he was a criminal

Ochako slaps him in that damn exercise (one may say "she want him to snap that" which ok but it had to be a slap?) And decides to ignores her so called feelings for Izu and zero attempt to knowing him

Shoto thinks BK gauntlets are cute, he thinks that as BK is destroying smth of Izu in front of Shoto (its an oneshot to explain the movie "Izu is a mass murder" god. I wish he had became one)

I think Izusquad is the hc the fandom delulu together bc the story is never gave Izu friends.

I definitely wanna do an analysis of how Hori writes Izuku’s friendships because as much as I like the DekuSquad, Hori really struggles with writing an actual friendship.

For the five ask game, if that's still going on, how about an iideku au where OFA ships them?

Torn between thinking this means the vestiges ship them, or that it means the quirk itself is a very excitable puppy dog that wants Tenya around as much as possible...

1- Tenya did not make a great first impression on 5/7.5 vestiges. Kudo and Bruce were like 'let 👏 him 👏 speak 👏' because they do, you know, kinda think Izuku's annoying but they sorta all did a 180° turn about him after the exam when Tenya apologized and praised Izuku's choice. Most of them like him. Bruce and Kudo are wondering how this kid keeps getting people to decide to like him after all.

2- OfA reacts differently under Izuku's hands, but he never realizes it because he assumes it's his own emotions and projecting. Yeah, his quirk feels jumpy and volatile around Kacchan like he could set it off and blow up his arm too easily, and fun and bubbly around Uraraka who's sure he'll figure out how to use it soon, and ok Izuku isn't sure why OfA races up to his skin faster around Iida, pushy, but maybe it's because he feels competitive with his friend.

3- The vestiges are actually in agreement for once when Izuku looks at Tenya at the train station. That Kid Is Going To Try To Commit Murder (and probably die in the attempt). "Is that what I looked like the last time you saw me alive?" Kudo asks Bruce. "No. But it's what I looked like to Shinomori." They want to help him. They want Izuku to help him. Izuku wants to help him. But they can't do anything except try to bend the power into something Izuku can actually use, and hope it's enough when the kid jumps off the train to find Tenya.

4- Nana, romantic she is, keeps getting excited when it seems they might lean in closer, might take each other's hands. Kudo asks if she and her husband were high school sweethearts to have such optimistic expectation of such a relationship, but Banjo says that dang it, Izuku at least deserves boyfriend even if they split after school, and Yoichi who has little concept of school and had a max relationship length of two months just wants them to confess already. Tenya's admiration is clear to everyone in Izuku's head except Izuku, and they can feel the boy's heartbeat in return. But sadly, they can't do anything while Izuku can't hear them... But, once he can...

5- "Good job training today, you'll master Float as soon as it comes to you at this rate!" Nana cheers Izuku in his dreams. He blushes, still unable to talk in the fog, but they figured out how to have him write in a notebook while he's there. "Hey, you know, White Day is coming up. Any plans? I can help you make something." Izuku raises his eyebrows because he's been warned Nana is a bit of a lethal chef, and also he's already made plans to make chocolate in return for his classmates, and more than triple the chocolate covered apple slices Eri was so excited to present him with a month ago. "I mean, other than Eri and the courtesy chocolate. Any confession plans?" Izuku starts waving his hands because he didn't get any confession chocolate and haha, why would he need to give any now, and En just sighs and breaks in with a "they need a third day for gay chocolate, bet Iida-kun would have made something for you then."

Izuku is eventually cajoled into making some orange chocolate treats for Tenya, only because he'd have plausible deniability that he just wanted to gift to his friends, but then Tenya presents him with All Might shaped chocolates and admits that maybe they are not purely platonic but that he still highly values Midoriya's friendship and would never mention the feelings again if he didn't want them and completely understands rejection and truly he- wait he didn't get rejected? Wait, it's the same for Midoriya? Both of them are very red, but happy. They don't really change much, neither is one for pda and calling each other their boyfriend feels like A Lot, but they do share food more often and move to calling each other by their given name in a manner that is adorably both shy and excited. But ah, we're halfway through March, and at the end of the month...

A couple weeks later, Izuku tapes letters to the doors of his classmates, then packs a bag to go, not planning on returning to the dorms again. He picks up the little bag of All Might chocolates that he'd slowly been going through. There's only two left. He slips them into the side pocket of his bag, then slips himself out of his window and down the building to leave campus, the vestiges silent around him and his quirk burning to go back when he can't.
