A Better Future? I was talking with a friend the other day about how the educational system in most countries has failed fundamentally. From early on, we are taught that we have to learn in order to pass the exams in order to progress to the next grade, to be able to graduate, to then be able to go to college and then to be able to get a job and not be a "failure". We are never taught to learn in order to be better, to expand our horizons, to broaden our minds. Another aspect where I think we are failing is that we are not teaching VALUES and PURPOSE in our schools... what is the point of having all of this knowledge if you have no perspective on how to use it for good, beyond your monetary gain? Many people do everything right according to the system: they get good grades, get into a good university and then get a good job but they STILL feel UNFULFILLED and that's because life is much more deeper than just earning money. I believe in a future where the educational system teaches love for learning, fundamental values and how to find what drives you and then encourages you and gives you all the tools and resources required to move in that direction, achieve your goals and also pushes you to think beyond yourself and how you can use your natural skills and drive to make the world a better place. I don't pretend to have all the answers but I definitely think that we need to restructure the system according to our ideal world. How can we expect a better future if our educational system is not aligned with our goals?
