Arcadie: Cold Lands - Progress Update - November 2024

(I know it's almost December but better late than never right?)

Arcadie: Cold Lands is gearing up to be much more complex to write and code than Second-Born, purely by virtue of it acknowledging your past choices.

Whether a certain person lives or dies, whether you even take them along, whether you accepted a certain deal...

It's a lot of work to keep it all cohesive and not have one path seem better than another, but it's also pretty fun and rewarding.

I've also just come off playing a game that is a sequel to one of my favorite gaming franchises, and saying I was disappointed is an understatement. I really was not fond of what they did with the world, and the... dumbing-down of the writing. My fault for buying a game day one!

Anyway, that made me really want to honor your past choices, and not shy away from giving you more role-playing options. So the possibility of being a force of... chaos, is back, though only when it makes sense. I don't want to write stupid or gratuitous evil, but rather self-interested tyrant. We'll see how it goes as I write along.

Oh and I have disabled access to the demo for Arcadie: Cold Lands, as it doesn't reflect the current state of the game. I'll probably be posting an updated version next month or in January.

I want to proudly say that I've finished playing the Arcadie Second Bron, and I mean, I've played all routes and all possible endings too☺️. I love how obsessed I am with the game, especially with how @sofia-d-asb give me the chance to have a very emotional cry baby option for the MC which I don't find often in such games!

And of course, Cyril... ah I love that man so much its crazy, it's painful! Every scene with him, I feel like I've been nourished with amazing sustenance! Truthfully, I'll probably have this game in mind for quite sometimes😅😅😅

I hope we will have a book two cus I want to give Cyril so many children I can't help it aaaaa

And for my appreciation, i have this fanart, it is one of my favorite tender moments with my MC crying after our second encounter with Stan🤭🤭 hopefully it won't spoil too much🤐🤧

Arcadie: Cold Lands - Cyril's route fully outlined!

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted a progress update, so here are some good news:

Happy to share that I have finished the full outline of Cyril’s route for Arcadie: Cold Lands!

I am sticking to my plan of having one separate route per character. It’s more work since I have to basically write (a minimum of) 3 different stories, but it allows me to make those stories deeply personal. For example, in Cyril’s route, you’ll get to know their family (including their brother, who only shows up in Second-Born if you got the worst ending for Cyril).

I have completed the full first draft of Stanislas’s route

I still have to edit and code it, of course, and add variations throughout. Reminder that part of Stan's route is already playable HERE.

Normally I don't share sketches outside Patreon... but today was too much of a nuisance... I had planned to spend the evening with some self-care-art... but the internet had other plans... so I am sharing a messy and rough sneak-peek sketch of what I am working on... an "Arcadie: Second Born" fanart of my Princess Elodie with Cyril in my favorite scene of the story. (It still needs a lot of work... but so far I am happy with the start... the initial sketch is often the hardest... from there is tweaking until I am somewhat happy...)

I want to use this opportunity to recommend "Arcadie: Second Born" by @sofia-d-asb! It's one of the best IF out there!!
