This is random but wild grinders was a big childhood hyperfixation of mine and I just started rewatching it the other day after years of not even thinking about it and seeing at least a couple people keeping the fandom alive makes me really happy
thanks, trying my best to make it gay as possible and enjoying that there are users out there who agree to this
#been doing it since 2013 and it continues#if youve seen my old art keep that to yourself#sorry for the short reply#my life has been at a depression point actually and not from the nutshack anon#the series means a lot to me because 2012-2013 was not only my cringe years but it was such a better place than my adult life#there were some users back in the day who werent all about my agenda though#one disliking my anime-style art and another getting pissed my fave ship was jackcrys#but most of the time new users are a lot more chill about what you do#but yea keeping this series *alive* is something very common for me to do#trying to do my best to keep obscure fandom alive

Dear Jerico,
Hey luv, it's Vander. I'm writing to you because I know you've got your finals coming and I've noticed how much its been stressing you out. I'm worried about you, alright? I know finals are a big deal, don't get me wrong, but your health and the state of that brilliant mind of yours is far more important than any old mark on your paper (er, or on the computer? Same rules apply regardless, luv).
You want to know one of my favourite qualities about you, Jerico? You pour your whole, entire heart out into every endeavour you decide to dedicate your time to. It's incredible, watching you work so hard on the things that matter to you, whether it's your art or your grades. I couldn't be more proud of you! I hope you remember that your finals, while important and worth the work you've been putting into getting ready for them, are only temporary- once you've finished them, they're gone, and you'll have time to pour your heart into art once more so please hold on to that desire, that drive, to keep going until you get to the end, yeah? I'm with you every step of the way.
Please, luv, do not forget that your finals are not a measuring stick to show how much you're worth once you finish them and receive an answer on how you did. No test on the entire planet can tell you your self worth- there isn't one available because your self worth is priceless and if anyone tries to tell you differently, they're just trying to sell you something. Don't buy into the lie that you aren't worth anything if you don't do well on your exams, alright? Nobody who truly loves you will think badly of you if you fail any of your exams; all we care about is that you don't run yourself into the ground just to get that mark. You matter more to us than how well you do. You always will. I love you regardless.
Lastly, I want to ask you to do something for me. I want you to take time to think about all the fun and wonderful things you'd like to do once your exams are over, if only for five minutes. Jot them down on a piece of paper where you can see it while you study- let those things you're looking forward to help motivate you to study and do the best you can to get through your final exams so that when you're done, you've got all these brilliant things already jotted down, ready to do and enjoy. Do that for me, won't you luv?
Sincerely,
Vander
OMG vander hii. Thank you honey. I needed to hear that so much. (Well you know it as well as I do, youve seen me lose sleep over it). Best thing to wake up to,thank you. I Will most defenetly write down everything I wanna do post finals <3

Dilf!Chan, biker!chan, kindergarten teacher!reader
Basically Chris' daughter is in your kindergarten class, and you've been simping whenever he pulls up on his motorbike to pick her up. Plus he's tattooed because I have n e e d s ok? There's a bit of pussy slapping and dirty talk but it's pretty vanilla.
__________________________________
You were standing outside the school, making sure your kindergarten class stayed in line. As the bus pulled up to the side if the road, your kindergarten assistant took her line of bus kids to that side of the parking lot, giving you a lovely view of the parent parking lot. Especially one parent in particular. You composed yourself as you saw Mr. Bang pull up in his motorcycle, his daughter, Yuna, excitedly jumped up and down, accidentally hitting another girl. The girl starts to cry, hitting Yuna back. Hiding your annoyance, you knelt down to Yuna, "Yuna, remember, keep control of your hands." Yuna sheepishly nods. "And Suzie we know not to hit our friends back-"
"Ms. Yn?" A deep voice says behind you, interupting your teacher speech.
You turn around, standing up to see Chris.
His black leather jacket hangs off his shoulders exposing just enough of the head of his surpent tattoo on his neck for you to wonder how far the snake went down his body.
"Ah, Mr. Bang, did you get my email?"
"yes I did, where are we having this impromptu parent teacher meeting?" He says, adjusting his helmet under his arm, a much smaller, sparkly pink one tucked inside.
You see your assistant coming back up the sidewalk. "Right now if ms. Chaeyoung wouldnt mind taking over."
"of course! Go have your meeting," she says, taking your clipboard from you.
You lead the way back inside to you classroom.
The room's walls are lined with students drawings, crafts, and pictures. A whiteboard with the day's letter still up.
"Mr. Bang, today marks the 3rd week her home reading isn't done. In class she's unfocused, hyperactive, and disruptive, I'd like to work with you so we can help her succeed."
Chris rubs his eyes defeatedly, "it's been a tough few weeks, I'll get on the home reading and speak to her about her behaviour."
"thank you, Mr. Bang."
He nods, awkwardly leaving your classroom. You watch him exit the building from the window. Happily picking up Yuna and putting on her helmet for her. He carries her out the his bike as she sits atop his shoulders. You can't help but smile at the cuteness.
It had been a few weeks since your meeting with Chris about Yuna, but you couldn't get the thought of him out if your head. (Not that you could normally, but it was especially bad lately). You know you shouldn't be thinking about one if your student's parent that way but you'd never seen a ring in his finger and Yuna never talked about her mom on the "draw your family" art project...
You were out walking your dog through the playground, the late afternoon sun hanging low in the sky. You hear children giggle as they played.
"Ms. yn!" You look up to see Felix, a parent of another of your students, sitting in a park bench next to Chris. You do a double take when you catch a blush rising up his cheeks.
"Mr. Lee, Mr. Bang," you say, your dog preoccupied with a smell under the bench, "lovely evening for the park innit?"
Felix checks his watch, "speaking of, it's almost dinner time."
"tell your wife I say 'hi'" Chris calls after Felix who's helping his little girl pack up her toys.
"always do!" Felix calls back.
Chris laughs. It's such a genuine laugh, almost like a giggle.
You found yourself fascinated with the sound.
"something on my face?"
You snap out if your daze, "sorry, I just wasn't expecting your laugh to sound like that," you try to laugh away the awkwardness.
It seems to work as Chris relaxes his shoulders, loosening up. He laughs again. The sight of his crinkled eyes as he looks at you makes your heart swell.
"I know it's rather sudden," Chris inhaled sharply, "but would you like to come over for dinner tomorrow? Yuna's having a sleepover at Felix's since it's a Friday-"
"I'd love to!" You cut off his rambling.
"really!?" He asks excitedly with wide eyes.
"yeah I thought you'd never ask," you laugh, "is 7 o'clock a good time?"
"I'll see you then," he says, grinning from ear to ear.
You walk up a set of concrete steps, seeing Chris' bike on the drive as you approach the front door.
The door opens before you have a chance to raise your hand to knock.
Chris looks stunningly sifistocated in his white button up and black jeans, hair styled curly as he invites you inside. He asks to take your coat, more than happy to show off your backless red dress.
"wow," he breaths, taking in the sight.
You smile, "you don't look half bad yourself."
He has a classy dinner already laid in on his dinning room table.
"I'm sorry, I couldn't find a table cloth."
"I don't mind at all," you say, smiling at Yuna's drawings etched into the wood.
Chris pulls out a chair for you, you sit down, thanking him. From this angle you have a good view into an office. You notice a stack of books and recording equipment piled on a desk
"what's the books for?" You ask.
"hm? Oh! Just my university stuff," he says, serving you.
"what are you studying?"
"music production, because I hate working so low down in the company."
You listen to him talk about his degree, how he's been studying for his finals the last few weeks, his job now and Yuna. He fills you in on all the adorable, sweet, and cheeky things his little girl has done. You see the sparkle in his eyes and can't help but reciprocate, she really is a sweet kid.
You find him fascinating in everyway. But your mind wanders a bit, he is also irresistibly sexy with his dark curls in his eyes and shirt showing a bit too much skin. The fact that you're sitting across from him now is enought to make your core wet.
"-sorry I don't mean to talk so much, I just rarely get the chance to have adult conversations, you know living with a 5 year old and what not- and here I go again rambling." He sheepishly resumes eating his dinner.
"not at all! I love listening to you!"
"really?"
"yeah," you say, a bit too breathy.
"that's good," he says staring at your lips. You hadn't realized you'd been biting your bottom one. You decide to bite the bullet instead and press your foot to his crotch. His body goes pliant in his chair for a moment before he silently puts his fork down.
He looks at you, searching your gaze before a dark lustful look comes over him.
He picks up his fork again, "the bedroom is the last room on the left hallway," he says, finishing his last bite of food.
Youve hardly processed his sentence when he speaks again.
"Did you hear me baby girl?"
You nod rapidly, standing up with weak knees going down the hallway.
You find the bedroom. You're inside for less than a second when Chris pushes you against his bedroom wall, kissing you deeply.
"How about you strip for me, let me see how much you want me." He's hardly finished his sentence when you're pulling off your clothes. You struggle to get out of your dress in your eagerness, eventually draping it over a nearby chair, kneeling on the floor, looking up eagerly at him.
"no bra," he breaths, his eyes fucking you.
Chris takes his sweet time unbuttoning his shirt. You can't help but ogle at the sight. Your eyes find the serpent, following it down his chest, the end of its tail still tucked behind his black jeans.
Chris continues the show, slowly dropping his pants and stepping out of them.
So it ends at his knee. You think to yourself.
You can see his leaking dick pressed painful hard against his underwear. Your mouth waters at the sight.
"close your mouth, darling. You'll catch flies." He grins, voice like silk.
"maybe you should close my mouth for me," you test.
He smirks, running the pad of his thumb against your bottom lip.
You take that as permission to pull his boxers down.
"you gonna be a good girl and take all my cock?" He asks smugly.
You nod, stroking his length, leaving kitten licks on his tip.
Chris groans, "feels so good, Yn."
You take his whole length into his mouth, taking him by surprise. he accidentally bucks his hips into your warm mouth.
He moans seeing you choke on his cock for a second.
Chris mumbles an apology as he rest his hand in your hair, feeling the way you bob your head up and down on his thick length.
You bask in his elicit moans, feeling smug knowing you're the one on your knees for him, not any of your co-workers or single moms. You.
He suddenly pulls your head off him. You whine in response. Chris guides you back to your feet, pulling your body against his.
"that was fun baby girl, but now it's your turn," he whispers into your neck, his hard-on dripping against your thigh.
Chris picks you up, tossing you effortlessly on the bed, he kisses down your neck to your boobs, giving each a gentle squeeze before continuing his ministrations down your body. He gives special attention to your thighs, avoiding where you want him most. You catch his drift.
"please Chris, please touch my pussy" you whine.
Chris moans, "such a dirty girl."
"please," you whine again.
Chris lightly brushes his fingers over your womanhood, just barely missing your clit.
You groan in annoyance.
"touch me harder, Chris please!"
He lands a harsh but not painful slap on your dripping cunt. You moan, gripping his bicep as a wave of pleasure hits you.
"like that, baby girl?"
You nod rapidly.
Chris kisses your pussy lips, before slapping you again, you don't have time recover when he lands a third.
Chris presses his tongue against your clit. You watch his eyes flutter closed as he eats you out like he didn't just finish dinner.
He inserts 2 fingers, making you scream in pleasure.
He pistons his fingers in and out of your soaked heat while sucking harshly on your clit.
It quickly becomes too much, you come on his fingers with a moan of his name
Chris doesn't stop, he slows down while you ride out your orgasm but picks up the pace when you start squirming.
After your third orgasm, pulls his fingers out, you whine in protest.
"I can't take it anymore," he groans, whipping a drawer open and cracking a fresh box of condoms.
You watch his fingers, still slick with your come open the wrapper.
"first time using one of these," he nervously giggles when he catches your gaze.
You take the condom from him, sliding it down his thick length. His erection twitching in your hand.
You sense the anxiety in the air.
You lay on your back, pulling him on-top.
"fuck me Chris," you moan.
He groans as he guides his dick in you.
You moan when he bottoms out.
He starts off slow, letting you feel all of his length. As he gains confidence, he quickens his pace until you're screaming his name.
He slows his thrusts just long enough to make you squirm before his hips resume pistoning in you. The pleasure knocking the wind out of you.
"feels so good, Chris," you moan, tangling a hand in his hair. Your other hand moving down his back, feeling his back muscles flex with every jerk of his hips.
"fuck Yn, I'm going to come."
You've lost the ability to speak, responding only by moaning.
You both come at the same time, feeling him relax onto you.
After a moment of heavy breathing and gentle kisses later, Chris pulls out. He throws out the condom standing up. He pulls one of his clean black tees over your exhausted form. He tucks you into bed with him.
"that was amazing, Yn, thank you."
"you're very welcome, I thoroughly enjoyed myself," you chime. Chris giggles, his thumb rubbing circles on your thigh.
You laugh, burying your head into the crook of his neck.
He wraps his arms around you as you trace his snake tattoo from his neck down to his side to his leg.
He pulls you into a gentle but passionate kiss, your hands finding purchase on his shoulders.
"can I ask a question, Chris?" You ask between kisses.
"shoot."
"what happened to Yuna's mom?"
Chris took a deep breath, you cringed at yourself for letting curiousity get the better of you.
"she was a fling in my senior year of high school, when she got pregnant and didn't want the baby, I said I'd take her. Yuna's never met her mom."
"I didn't know, I'm so sorry."
"don't be." He smiled, "I think you'd make a much better mom for her."
"really?"
"if that's what you want!" Chris rushed, realizing what he just said.
"that is what I want," you say, kissing his lips.
"does that mean you'll do her home reading for me?"
You laugh, nodding.

ninjamuffin ama summary - 9/28/2021
you know the drill, purple text is me paraphrasing, everything else is direct (or almost direct) quote, FNF-related stuff only
Q: What is one common misconception about FNF or its development that you wanna clear up?
A: im not the sole creator, im not some sole director. Each of the boys have very important roles with the game. This isn't just 1 dude having tunnel vision about a game, its generally all us coming to similar conclusions on where we want to take the game and what we wanna do wit it
Q: why
A: because I love video games and I love newgrounds
Q: Do you or the team plan to go back and make the older weeks higher quality?
A: that will definitely happen. both for general polish, and things leading up into future weeks / story or whatever
Q: Why did everyone think Week 8 was gonna come out on the 22nd?
A: accidental "teases" (Dave's MC-related doodle), madness day, general anxiousness bc the devs haven't been sharing much
Q: What kind of QOL changes are being added in the future?
A: charting editor improvements is one
Q: What is the most insane, most likely impossible to happen person you would like to collaborate with, could be Funkin related, could be just a personal project
A: the girl reading this
Q: Is Cassette Girl week 8?
A: no
Q: Is there concept art for the characters, or did they look the same during development?
A: GF looks exactly the same as the first ever drawing PhantomArcade did. There's a few small lil variations for a good chunk the other MAIN characters, one day u will see all them
R: can you explain the old bf icon? or is it just a dumb placeholder?
A: just a cool ass lil icon evilsk8r did during the game jam weekend
Q: Are you letting yourself getting inspired by more different genres of music for future weeks?
A: i think that more a Q for kawaisprite, but that man loves music, and can and does get inspired by anything he listens to in regards to music
Q: Why has the team been so silent about update progress?
A: They do better working in silence than hyping things up; when Week 6 was teased working on it became really stressful for them. Also, element of surprise
R: but youve been silent abt week7 on desktop for months, half a year. & week 8 is likeâŚ.. nonexistant
A: week 8 isnt nonexistant, we just absolutely do not want to talk about it whatsoever. i said all the week 7 stuff will come with week 8 update
Q: what do you genuinely think about the people thinking you guys scammed people out of $2 million? just curious is all, iâve seen lots of people talking about it rn
A: i think people are a bit wary about kickstarter, and makes sense when people's coin is on the line. if u want a breakdown of what we used KS coin so far, we spent maybe 2K of it on some development stuff we needed, most other expenses been paid from our savings / donations, etc.
Q: When does the OST come to the backers?
A: Kickstarter vinyl OSTs still need to be manufactured, which would take at least 6 months because of a global PVC shortage, completely out of our control. what is in our control is that we also still need to finish up and finalize artwork for it, the boys wanna make it all perfect. Same goes for CDs, but those should be done way sooner
Q: You got a date range of when Tshirt / Poster / or Pin surveys will be out by any chance? đ
A: kickstarter tshirts / poster / pin stuff have been coming along nicely and hopefully those surveys should be coming soon, prob next few weeks
Q: Do you guys think you'll experiment with other artstyles in future weeks?
A: yes, cuz we've already done that (week 6) theres a lot more where that came from
Q: if you could isolate one part of the game and say itâs your favorite what would it be
A: the fact that FNF is our pure creative vision, with absolutely nothing getting in the way of that. Open source free Newgrounds rhythm game with crazy zany kawaisprite music, and stylish and charismatic animation and art style. and game been successful because of all of that.
Q: what do you think about people compiling the full ass game and playing it without paying anything
A: that makes me happy
Q: what do you think of all the mods and stuff people has made about your game
A: mods make me happy
Q: any inspiration from doki doki literature club for the weird stuff in week 6?
A: no, but some of the cool lil programming things DDLC did do interest me
Q: How do we know you're working on the game
A: you don't, and really it doesnt matter all too much. we being productive and things are moving forward, and people not believing that doesnt change that
And now, a speech:
i think trying to focus on keeping hype and keeping game popular can very easily be hollow. We have no worry about trying to keep hype or relevancy or anything like that. If FNF popularity shrunk to 0.1% of it's size, we'd be content, cuz that's still like 1000% more than before
"before" referring to anything we did before FNF.
you can lose success just as easily as you got it, and for FNF, it got successful INCREDIBLEY fast. With that in mind, it's just the nature of things if it all loses relevancy.
So far FNF doing good through the year, but if it wasn't, it's no real sweat off our back.
Although it's uhhh easy to look at it that way from our perspective. Get back to me and see if my thoughts on this has changed if FNF is forgotten from all memory.
Q: will there be a sequel to the full ass game? Like 'the full a2s game' or something clever like fast & furious movies do
A: friday night funkin: tokyo drift

hi! sorry if this is something you already talked about, im not good at keeping up with posts, but ive seen you talk about writing sometimes and ive come to trust and appreciate your opinions so since ive been having trouble with something, ive come to you.
people always say that youll have the easiest time writing about things youve experienced/felt/seen since they're familiar, but i find myself unable to write about things i've been through well. for example, i've experienced family abuse but i don't really feel as if i can write about family abuse even though i know what it's like, or another example, i've struggled with depression but at the same time i have absolutely no idea how i would write about depression/a character experiencing depression even though i know what it feels like. even talking about happy experiences in my life, like receiving a really sweet present or falling in love, i find i can't really write about it despite the fact i've been through it/felt it.
is something wrong with me? am i the only one that's weird like this? i haven't ever seen anyone discuss this or talk about it so i'm not sure if i'm just not skilled enough or knowledgeable enough to pull it off yet or if this is something that happens more frequently, and i was wondering about your take/advice on it.
(sorry that this long, if youve already talked about this somewhere, feel free to ignore the ask, otherwise, thank you, love your blog :D)
hi anon! I donât think itâs ever easy to write something youâve been through that you wouldnât also have an easy time talking about. the things youâve brought up are traumas, not just experiences, for which a very difficult degree of acceptance would be necessary in order to turn them into artâand even with âhappierâ events, there are no rules saying you have to write things youâve personally lived through. âwrite what you knowâ is an old rule compared to âknow what you write,â and why should you write any particular experience if you donât want to? if the part of creativity that brings you fulfillment or satisfaction or joy is something youâve imagined rather than something youâve felt, then write that. I usually say the best way to make something feel real is to root it in something youâve actually felt, but that certainly doesnât mean writing the experience as you experienced it. it means writing your charactersâ ambition or pain or fear or love in a way that feels authentic because you have felt or witnessed it
itâs possible that the more you writeâand the more you feel capable of putting your feelings into words in a way that captures something the way youâd like toâthe more you may feel you want to engage with your past, or with yourself, but I think itâs very normal that the first things youâre drawn to creating arenât that close to your personal experience. I wrote Clean and Ride or Die and all the many variants of highly unrealistic fiction multiple years before I could ever write Lethal Combination or Alone With You in the Ether or engage with my own traumas in writing; or, when I did, it was in a very distant way, like via the diaries in Modern Romance. writing means gradually accepting that despite your best efforts, despite whatever talents and skills you gain, your finished product will still never achieve perfection, and sometimes your own experiences are too big to chance suffering that familiar disappointment that things havenât turned out quite as you planned, or they donât feel as impactful as you lived them. but if I were you, my takeaway here would be: Iâm a writer and I can write whatever I want, and for that matter, everyone elseâs rules are stupid
( for future, if youâd like to check which topics Iâve already discussed, the index of all prior advice posts is here )

Arthur Morgan x Reader: Farmerâs Daughter
Ask:Â Ok well I was wondering if you could write an Arthur Morgan x Reader where the reader is the daughter of a rich farm owning family and Arthur rides up to the farm/ranch one day to scope the place out and see if they're easy to rob but somehow ends up with heart eyes for the reader and starts sneaking around to see her. Doesn't have to be smut, but that would be awesome. Thank you!
Warnings: Probably cursing. A bit of an age gap since Arthur is, you know, like 30 something, and the reader is still living with her parents.
Pairing: Arthur Morgan x ReaderÂ
A/N: So this turned out longer than I had originally planned oops. ALso apparently freezers were invented around the 1830â˛s so donât come at me for having ice cubes in Arthurs drink ok. I really hope this is what you imagined and it doesnât seem rushed, even though I spent like 4 hours on it. Hope itâs not too short or too long. OKAY IâM DONE RAMBLING YOU CAN READ NOW.
The last thing you expected to see on a Friday afternoon was a stranger on a white horse riding up your dirt road. You had been reading a book on your upstairs balcony when you saw him, at first just a small white speck a ways away. But when that white speck started making noise you looked up and saw it was a man on a horse, a visitor. You rarely got visitors here that werenât two men on a wagon full of supplies.Â
You set your book down on the table and leaned forward to get a better look as he neared the front of your house. He looked handsome enough, even though you were on the second story balcony and he was on the ground below. From what you could see he was a rugged man about thirty or so, not the kind of men your parents usually dealt with. Your curiosity got the best of you and you walked back inside and downstairs where you saw your father opening the front doors. One of his work friends stood beside him in case things were to go south, his hand sitting comfortably on his pistol as a gentle warning to the stranger that stood on your porch.
âSorry to bother you folks, I was looking for the Braithwaite manor and it looks like I got myself lost. Do you know whereabouts that is?â His voice sounded so friendly and warm, you would never expect that he was there to see if you would be easy to ransack. You watched the conversation go down from the bottom step of the staircase and tried not to look too obvious.Â
Your father was totally oblivious and way too trusting. âNo worries friend, these back roads are tricky. Fancy a drink? You look like youâve been riding all day. Come inside and Iâll have my wife draw you up some directions.â
The man looked hesitant but eventually shrugged. âYouâre too kind. Iâd really appreciate it.âÂ
You took the chance to walk into the tea room since you knew theyâd come inside any minute, and you didnât want to look suspicious. Plus, you wanted to be nosey, it wasnât often attractive strangers came by. You sat down at the table and picked up the book from the table, something you had already read before, and tried your best to look as if you had been doing it for some time already.
âWhoâs that man outside?â Your mother had snuck up behind you and scared the daylights out of you when she leaned down to whisper in your ear.
âI donât know.â You said after you recovered from the scare. âBut he sure is good looking.âÂ
She peaked at the front door and nodded in approval at your taste. âYouâre not wrong about that.â Thank god it was your mother and not your grandmother, she would have chided you for hours about being indecent.Â
Finally, they came in and the man took off his hat, looking around as his eyes adjusted to the change of light. He looked even better looking close up. His facial hair was trimmed neatly but looked like it had grown in a little, the hair on his head the same. His face was partially spotted from the dust in the air from horse hooves but he didnât look truly dirty, nothing compared to your farmboys.
He looked around and seemed impressed with the place, his eyes looking into every room he could see from his spot. When he looked into the room your father began walking into, the tea room, he only spared you a short glance.Â
Alright, well, you werenât used to that. Most men who saw you immediately started complimenting your parents on how gorgeous you were, praising you and never failing to remark some version of âYouâll make a wonderful wife/Someone a very happy husband/Beautiful childrenâ. But he didnât say a thing.
âDarling, would you be so kind as to draw some directions from here to Braithwaite manor? Our friend  here has gotten lost.â Your father asked your mother who smiled and obliged, heading upstairs to get some paper. âOh! I didnât even see you there!â He said when he noticed you sitting on the couch. âCould you bring our guest some tea?â
The stranger looked at you and looked like he was about to decline and tell you not to worry yourself but you were already standing up. âSure thing daddy, need anything else?â You asked sweetly with a smile.Â
Your father looked to the man who just shook his head and tried to say âIâm fineâ and âNo thank youâ at the same time. âNo, Iâm, thank you,â He jumbled over his words and looked visibly embarrassed. âIâm alright.â
You smiled widely, amused by that. He looked away and scratched the back of his head awkwardly. Your father paid no mind and led him to the couch, talking about how harsh the month had been with no rain at all.Â
When you got back from the kitchen with a glass of tea he looked up and accepted the glass from you happily, muttering a âthanksâ before he almost chugged the entire thing, even chewing on some of the ice. Your mother came down the stairs with a piece of paper in hand and one of your nice fountain pens in the other.Â
âYouâll have to excuse my writing, Iâm not the best artist.â She joked and sat on the single chair across from the couch. âYou should have told our artist here to do it instead, she could draw him the best map heâd ever laid his eyes on.â She joked and you tried not to let them see how bashful she made you. She always bragged about you and anything you did, you could draw something purposefully awful and she would still treat it like a priceless painting.
âOh itâs alright, Iâm sure Iâll manage.â He chuckled, taking more ice into his mouth.Â
You sat down on the other side of the couch and watched the man from the corner of your eye. He looked around the house while his jaw moved to chew the ice as if he was taking note of every single window and door. âSay, you folks-â
Your mother sighed in frustration, putting two fingers on her forehead in exasperation. âIâm sorry, I can barely draw a line. Darling, could you please?â She slid the paper across the table and gave you a sweet look.
âIâll try.â You laughed and leaned down, taking the pen from her.
âWhat were you saying?â Your father asked from his seat and the man looked confused before he remembered.
âI was just going to ask if you knew of some good people to hire for security. Assuming those men at the end of the road are what Iâm thinkinâ they are.â
âYes, they work for a man named Michael, he hires men that used to be in the war and sells their services to those who can afford it.â Your father said proudly. Arthur just nodded.
âHereâs the house.â You said to the man as you drew a small house next to the scribbles your mother had done. He scooted closer to you carefully and watched as you drew. âAnd hereâs the road. The corn fields are on the right, the tobacco on the left.â You kept talking as you drew and tried to focus on moving the pen instead of how close he was to you. His body heat radiated off of him and grazed your bare arm and neck, you could hear him breathing slowly. He smelt like smoke and day-old cologne mixed with the leather from his coat.Â
As you gave him directions he would never need Arthur felt morality tug at his heartstrings. You were such good people, welcoming him into your home and showing such hospitality. He would have to tell Dutch there was no way, there were too many workers and guards, he would make something up. He came expecting a snooty rich family but was caught off guard by good people. You all had the generosity, kindness, and respect of poor folk.
When you finished you slid the map over on the table. âLet it sit for a minute before you touch it, the inkâs still wet.â You warned and put the cap back on the pen. âEspecially here.â You laughed softly and pointed at the words of his destination where you had spelled it wrong the first time and scratched it out.
He nodded and muttered an âalrightâ, looking at you from a side glance. Your father talked for a while about the people who lived in the manor, not being shy about his opinion. Arthur couldnât have agreed more but he kept up his facade and played dumb.Â
âItâs dry now.â You said and Arthur looked away from your father. You were looking at the paper so he took the chance to actually look at you, unintentionally admiring you. Normally he was good about keeping his eyes where they belonged. If there was anyone who respected women it was Arthur, but it was hard not to appreciate your beauty. He figured your sweetness was the only reason he stared. It had been a while since he saw a sweet girl who wasnât trying to pickpocket him or get him to spend a fortune in the saloon.Â
âThank you.â He picked up the paper and admired your work. One of the few things he could really appreciate was art. You drew so effortlessly, the small roads and hills looked like the maps heâd seen the professionals sell. âWell, I reckon I better be on my way, Iâve taken up too much of your time.âÂ
âNot at all.â Your father stood up and so did the stranger. They shook hands as he thanked your father who shook him off and pat his back a few times. âYou sure thereâs nothing else we could do for you?â
âYouâve done more than enough.â He promised and looked back to you and your mother, the paper held gently in his hands. âThank you both for your hospitality. And for the map.â He held up the paper and you smiled, causing him to unknowingly do the same.Â
When he started walking out the door with your father you ran upstairs and almost fell off your balcony to watch him ride off. The hot wind hit your face when you reached the banister, just in time to watch him ride off. He put his hat back on and took one last look behind him, not failing to notice the beautiful young girl watching him leave.
***
The frogs and crickets sang while the fireflies lit the black air with soft pulsating gold. You were on your banister half reading a book and half watching the farmboys work in the fields below, their lanterns bobbing gently through the rows of plants, stopping occasionally to pull up weeds or a dead plant.Â
It was hard to read. It was stupid to even try. But there was nothing else to do to take your mind off of your thoughts, even though reading wasnât doing a good job at that. At least it was something.
A dog barking in the distance made you set your book down. It was the dogs they kept up at the end of the road to warn when someone was coming. You waited a minute to see if they would calm down but they didnât. You heard your father yell downstairs to the men at the end of the road, and they responded with something about deer in the woods.Â
You believed it for a moment until you heard rattling from the other side of your balcony. The first thing that came to mind was some kind of greasy gunslinging bastard but before you could start screaming two arms hooked over the side of the ledge, covered by that same damn leather jacket you had been so close to earlier.Â
It shouldnât have made you feel any better considering his original intentions were to rob your family for everything they had. But for some reason you had a feeling he wasnât a threat to you. That made you incredibly stupid and naive but thankfully, for once, you were right in this situation.Â
When he finally pulled himself over he looked surprised to see you standing there watching him. âNow, before you start screaming,â He said as he reached up to grab the lantern that hung above him. âIâm not here to hurt you or anything like that.â He blew out the small flame and the two of you were suddenly surrounded by darkness.Â
âThen why are you here?â You asked cautiously. It wasnât like you didnât want to see him again, but the last thing you expected was this. If anyone saw him your father's politeness would be out the window as well as Arthur.
He sighed as if he didnât know why himself. âYou been on my mind girl, and I donât know why. I donât know why my dumbass thought it would be a good idea to risk not only my ass but yours, just to come back up here and ask for your name.â
You covered your mouth to stifle that bubbled in your throat. âTruly? Thatâs why?â
Arthur laughed softly, shaking his head when he realized how ridiculous it was. âI suppose so. And I wanted to ask for another one of those hundred-dollar drawings you make.âÂ
You laughed again and put your fingers on the bottom lip you held between your teeth. âOh yeah? Was my map that good?â
He grinned and looked down at his boots, kicking them against the floor to kick some pebbles loose from the bottoms. He couldnât believe how young he felt then, like he was only sixteen again flirting around with the farmer's daughter. The only thing different from that was he was much, much, much older. If the other men in the gang saw him theyâd make fun of him till the day he died for sneaking around for a girl.Â
âWell, okay, I guess I can make you something.â You smiled while biting your lip. He put on a show of acting grateful, clasping his hands together and placing them in front of his forehead. When you recovered from quiet laughter you went into your room to get some paper and a pencil. You made sure both your doors were locked before you went back onto your dark balcony. You stopped in the open doorway, noticing how little you could see. There was no way you could draw anything out there unless a lantern was lit, but that would be too bright and anyone nearby would be able to see the two of you. âI canât see out here, maybe we should go in my room.âÂ
He was reluctant for a minute, considering how fast heâd be able to run and jump out the balcony if need be. âYeah, sure.â He sighed and walked towards the doors. The spurs on his boots lightly jingled and you could hear fabric moving against fabric as he moved past you into your dimly lit room. âBeen a while since Iâve been in a room this nice.â He admitted as he looked around your room.Â
âYou live in a barn then?â You teased and sat down at the table near the windows. âOh, I never told you my name. Itâs (Y/N).âÂ
Arthur leaned against the wall near you and crossed his ankles, nodding as he thought over your name. â(Y/N). Never met anyone with that name before.â
You smiled proudly, twirling the pencil in your fingers. âAnd yours?â
He paused, considering while he looked out the window. âArthur.â He said finally and looked back to you.Â
âArthur.â You mused before remembering what you were supposed to be doing. âAh, sorry, what did you say you want me to draw you?â
He snorted and crossed his arms. âI didnât give that any thought, do anything youâd like.âÂ
You bit your lip and looked him up and down. âOkay. It might take me a little while though.â He wanted to say âgoodâ, but held his tongue and settled for a âThatâs okayâ.
After about an hour of talking, constant talking, you were finally finished. âIf I had longer I could have done better, but, here.â You slid the paper across the table to him. After a while, he got tired and had sat down across from you.
He took the paper in his hands and squinted before his eyes widened. âChrist, girl.â He breathed and looked over the lines and shading. âYouâre better than me.â
âYou draw too?â You asked with sudden interest but he didnât respond, he was too caught up in the paper in front of him.Â
âI canât believe this. Did you take a picture of me when I wasnât looking?â He shook his head and scratched his chin as he continued admiring it.Â
You blushed and ran a hand through your hair, he made you into a flustered mess with those praises. They were different when they were coming from someone who wasnât kin. âThank you.â It was all you could say. You didnât expect him to like it that much, it was a hurried sketch of him leaning against your wall, but as much as you liked to pretend your art wasnât that good there was no denying that this was an exceptionally realistic drawing. You were almost sad to see it go.
Arthur shook his head and looked up from the paper, looking at you completely different. Like how your father looked at your mother the first time he saw her shoot a gun. Newfound respect and admiration glinted in those pretty blue eyes of his, all directed to you. He was going to say something else but the sounds of heels coming up the stairway stopped him.Â
â(Y/N)! I just found a letter from June, it came yesterday but-â She grabbed your doorknob and tried to open it, only succeeding in causing the door to shake slightly. Arthur looked at you with wide eyes as she called out your name a second time.Â
âGo, hurry!â You whispered and he sat up as quickly and quietly as he could, tiptoeing to the open doors. âOne second, Iâm changing into my nightdress!â You called back to her as you rushed the grown man out of your room.
He paused in the same spot he had climbed up, one hand on the jasmine covered lattice he had used as a ladder. âCould I come see you again?â He asked boldly, the paper in his hand slightly moving from the breeze.Â
You laughed in disbelief. âThereâs no way I could say no to that. You better.â
Arthur smiled then, the widest and cheesiest smile he had worn in a while. If it wasnât for the lantern sitting inside your room next to the window he stood near, you wouldnât have seen it. You wanted to say more, but he swung his legs over the edge and left you to explain to your mother why you spent so long doing something so simple.

kat! love your all your fics you're an amazing writer! can you share some writing tips for amateur writers out here?
hi anon writing advice tag if youre looking for like...more specific answers? when it comes to writing, its a very subjective experience when it comes to finding inspiration, outline style, word choice, etc but theres a few things i think across the board are important to remember.Â
going under a cut to not clog dashes
- consume as much media as you can. ex: books, music, film etc. i know for me personally im most inspired when im consuming art. i literally cannot write without music, like its genuinely so difficult because i pace my writing against the soundtrack of each scene. and the filtering, editing, and direction style of films/tv series i like will influence, in some manner, how the fic looks in my mind. yes, your plot and characters are found/uncovered in your brain and heart, but these other mediums assist in your interpretation of how youd like to express it and will help inspire the way you describe certain things. so dont be afraid to step back from a doc to consume other forms of art. for me, at least, its really important.
- keep writing and dont let yourself stop. once you decide you want to write a fic or drabble or whatever comes to mind, write it. and once that is done, write more. this is how you develop a style. you will notice the more you practice, the easier it gets. OR you will notice the more you write, the more evolved your writing becomes. this is how you form a style. here is an example:Â
an excerpt from a series i was writing in 2011 in a different fandom:
No one tells you what itâs like to go insane. No one talks about it because, we, as a society, understand the chemistry and the biology of it, but we donât understand the feeling of it. Time had started to compress, slipping around me in a computerized metronome of blood flow and heart beats that had started to tell me nothing except that I was still living. They hadnât strapped me to the bed, but I still couldnât leave and everything about the room started to feel like a cage. Sleep had eluded me since I was pulled out, and through the exhaustion and the haze of sameness I never knew exactly when I was beyond a date of 2266.
I was craving daylight - not the vitamin D, as I was being given a healthy dose of daily vitamins through an IV drip - the natural light and the natural warmth of it, all over my face and skin. The ceiling lights of the room provided an element of ultraviolet light, but after so many hours the falsehood of an invention began to wear a person down. Itâs something you never really think about, the sun, not until you donât have it, not until you havenât seen it for one hundred years.
But when one hundred years feels like three days or two weeks, time really stops mattering and then the sun itself doesnât feel so important.
from Empty Vessels, posted july 2019:
For a while, they do not speak. Minseok looks longingly out over the water, hollowed, as the herbalist regards the dirt on her shoes with an empty stare. In the silence, Junmyeon minutely nods, the bare threads of his patience allowing them space to find their words. Images spring to his mind, all imagined and none wholly formed, each as bleak and battered as the crow in Chanyeolâs arms. He wonders what Minseok has seen, unable to avoid with a clarity bordering on entrapment; he wonders what she has heard, whispers on the wind of a life he thought heâd left behind.
âThe trees are screaming,â she announces, eyes still downcast though her voice is sharp; blunt as the edge of a sword and equally as unforgiving. âTheyâre in pain.â
It settles over him, slow and uncompromising, the notion that trees could make sound - that they would choose to. The oldest wisdom lingers in their branches, and for one brief moment, he sees her as someone as old as their roots.
i, at least, can see an enormous difference in quality and style and thats because ive been writing and writing and writing for a very long time lmao. in 2011 i was 3 years into writing fanfic consistently; at that time, too, i was still working towards my degrees and writing daily for film analysis projects. the more you write, the more you evolve so please please please dont stop just because you feel you arent experienced enough. confidence and style will come over time, just keep yourself in practice.Â
- NOTES MEAN ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. notes on tumblr are a hot take - and while, yes, there is a need for more reblogs and more sharing of content, focusing on statistics will drive you to the brink. joseph gordon levitt released a ted talk last week on how seeking attention is detrimental to your creativity and LORD this is such a good talk because its true. one of the things he discusses is how powerful the feeling of receiving attention - in this case, notes on a fic - drives someone toward output, but is that genuine? now, of course theres always going to be different scenarios or opinions but if you are just starting out with writing please dont post a fic under the assumption or expectation of achieving a note goal. there are so many variables as to what gets notes and what does not - from algorithm to how many people are online to see it to timing to content like you cannot predict what will or will not correspond to x number of notes and x number of followers.Â
instead of setting note or follower goals, set word count goals. when i first started writing for kpop i was actually a pretty concise writer. if you look at the early chapters of hero and wyrm tamer, they all would peak around 4 or 5k words. achieving 10-15K on something seemed absolutely ridiculous and impossible to me - hell, 15K was 10K words under my masters thesis count! why would i want to write that much? but now? im shook if i finish a chapter or fic and the word count is just 4K. those word count goals are exciting for me.Â
nervous about word count goals? thats fine! set a goal to write a genre. always wanted to try high fantasy? dope! do it! want to write some sexy vampires? fuck yeah, everyone loves those! want to write a fic that helps you release some tension or trauma youve experienced? please do that, writing is therapy and has been scientifically proven to help.Â
set goals for making characters, world building, soundtracks, to learn photoshop to make a moodboard. set goals for all kinds of things but pls dont set goals for statistics because these are so variable and very often outside of your control they will very often suck any joy out of your creativity before its had the chance to start.
i hope these help!

Set It Up â A kinda but not really Klaroline Fusion (like all my different fusions)
Caroline Forbes and Klaus Mikaeslon are working as assistants to the most demanding, rival NBA bosses in New York. From Macyâs to Madison Square Garden to the MGM Grand in Las Vegas can they stop bickering long enough to come together to make their lives easier?
All I do is Win
151 W 34th Street, New York, NYÂ
"Before you say anything,â he offered, holding his hand up to silence her. âHe actually tried to fire a mailman today.âÂ
He being Mason Lockwood, the Brooklyn Nets owner. He was also notorious for being an arrogant, demanding bastard and then some.Â
âAnd?â
âMailmen work for the U.S. government!"
âOh boo hoo, I donât care, Mikaelson,â she replied gruffly, equally not caring but also knowing it was true and his boss was an ass.Â
âSays the girl whose boss could give Cruella De Ville a run for her money.â He wasnât wrong. New York Knicks boss Katherine Pierce was fierce, feisty and a real bitch at the best and worst of times.
âExactly why Iâm here to claim my blender that you have your grubby paws all over. I called earlier and put it on hold,â Caroline demanded, exhausted from the trek to Macyâs Department Store noticing he was already clutching it possessively. Â Â
She took a few seconds to admire that his thieving ass was sort of attractive in that fitted, grey suit even if he didnât know his proper place.
Five days ago she didnât even know him but Klaus Mikaelson had made both an immediate and lasting impression on her, and it wasnât a good one. She had always welcomed competition but his good looks were kind of messing with her resolve.Â
Bastard.
She had no intention of letting him win.
Ever.
âBut your name isnât on it,â he shot back, refusing to relinquish her property.Â
âNow, thatâs extremely mature,â she scowled. âIf I donât get this exact gift for the Warner wedding my boss is going to kill me.âÂ
Yes, to some it was just your run-of-the-mill gadget that mixed ingredients together. But this wasnât just any blender. This was the newest, state of the art Vitamix Blender that retailed at a jaw dropping $1198.
It also happened to be the last one left in Manhattan, Caroline knew given just how many stores sheâd called in vain. She just hoped the Warners were grateful, if she managed to steal it from his greedy clutches of course.
âMy boss will too given itâs a gift for his only sisterâs birthday,â he shot back. âIf you think Iâm going to give up this blender without a fight youâre sorely mistaken.âÂ
Okay, maybe she had forgotten in her haste to put it on hold, oops, but Klaus didnât have to know that.
âOnly because you got caught out breaking the rules because I already put this on hold,â she bluffed, refusing to let him win.
âOkay fine, what do you want?âÂ
âI thought I made myself pretty clear, Mikaelson,â she growled, gesturing towards the blender. Â
âWhat else do you want besides this blender?âÂ
They both held each otherâs gaze for a full thirty seconds before each finally responded their resolve unflinching.Â
âDisney on Ice tickets. I hear that the Under the Sea Christmas Spectacular is a huge hit in your borough.â Brooklyn was most definitely a bad word she could never utter. Â
âSeriously? Thatâs really what you want?â
âDeathly,â she hit back, rolling her eyes as she did it. âSurely you would have some contacts, you know if youâre actually a good assistant.âÂ
âBecause Iâm sure Katherine Pierce would love to watch a singing crab and one memory-less fish,â he scoffed.Â
âShe may be the Ice Queen but she also has thirteen impossible and incessant nieces and nephews. And last time I checked all fish were memory-less.â
âWell, then youâve never met my Marvin.â Caroline was trying to ignore just how adorable he looked defending his goldfish one dimple at a time. Â âEven so those tickets will cost me more than this blender.â
âOkay, so how about I sweeten the deal with some boxing tickets?â
âNot sure the local boxing round robin is his speed, love, so thatâs a definite no.â
âWell, I suppose itâs your loss,â she drawled. âHand over my blender then, Mikaelson.â
âYouâre going to have to make me,â he replied jokingly.Â
âReal mature,â Caroline reiterated, surprising him and plucking it from his grasp. She couldnât miss the way his hand felt brushing against hers as she did. âI hope I never have to see your smug ass again.â She stalked away, hips swaying in her wake.
âUntil I have to explain the missing blender,â he called out in frustration by way of response.Â
âBecause Iâm sure a missing blender is going to be your biggest problem given you turned down Pacquiao vs Broner ringside seats in Vegas.â Â
She made a mental note in her head. Caroline Forbes 1 - Klaus Mikaelson 0. Suddenly her hellish life as an assistant wasn't so bad if he was suffering too.
4 Pennsylvania Plaza, New York, NYÂ
Klaus Mikaelson was the type to hold grudges. It started when he was six years-old and his younger brother Kol stole his favourite toy and it had only grown stronger and more spiteful in the years afterward.Â
Caroline Forbes was going to pay. Mainly because his boss hadnât let him forget how pathetic he was to lose the blender he wanted to âa girlâ as he emphasised in air quotes. Klaus was far from chauvinistic and his boss was obviously still living in the dark ages.Â
Caroline wasnât just âa girlâ she was a pain in his ass and Klaus planned to bring her down and it didnât hurt that it was her home game either.Â
Rivals the Knicks and Nets were squaring off at Madison Square Garden and heâd been plotting his revenge ever since their last meeting. Sure, she was kind of gorgeous with those blonde waves and crystal, blue eyes but she was also his devious competition. And she was unrelenting. He had to beat her at her own game and heâd found the perfect way to do it.
âGlutton for punishment hey?âÂ
âExcuse me?â He shot back from their neighbouring, courtside seats. The pre-game arrangements were well underway. âLast time I checked the Nets and their staff have every right to be here, even if it is on enemy territory.â
âUnfortunately, yes,â she growled. âBut itâs nice to know you are going down tonight.â
âHave you seen the ladder, Forbes?â
âYou are one game ahead, after tonight that wonât be the case,â she scoffed. Klaus took a moment to peruse her outfit before arguing back. Even in her hideous blue and orange jersey she couldnât help but look stunning. He decided to put it down to the fact her floral perfume was infiltrating his nostrils and messing with his composure.Â
âWanna make a bet?â
âIâm pretty good at those but if youâre game.â
âOh Iâm game,â he smirked. âThe Nets win you get me those ringside seats in Vegas. And by seats, Iâm going to need eight.â
âWow, someone is wishful thinking, but yeah sure, not that youâre going to win,â she scoffed. âI cannot wait to witness the annihilation, Mikaelson.âÂ
Klaus didnât even respond, just sent her a teasing glance and made his way to the changerooms to finalise everything. He had a good feeling that his team were going to take the win and Klaus would be on the way to Vegas for the big fight at the MGM Grand. His boss would forget that bloody blender ever existed.Â
âIn your face, Forbes,â Klaus celebrated hours later as the Nets crowd at Madison Square Garden continued to chant well after the final buzzer. She was shocked to say the least, still cute in defeat but heâd never admit it aloud. Â
âThis is all your fault,â she snarled. âYou cheated.â
âLast time I checked I wasnât on the court.â
âYeah probably a good thing, youâd never actually keep up, lazy bones,â she snorted. âHow about that whole surprise pre-game show where number one Nets fans Beyonce and Jay-Z just decided to belt out the Star Spangled Banner from their seats?â
âI had nothing to do with that,â he lied.
âYou are the worst liar,â she huffed. âYou know just how well it would be received and in turn boost team morale.â
âI have no idea what youâre talking about,â he bluffed. âThe best team on the day won.â
âYou are unbelievable,â she scowled. âMust really be desperate given just how much your job depends on it.â
âIs that what you say to make your situation better?â He shot back. âDidnât think youâd stoop that low, oh hang on that whole blender situation was exactly that.â
âI guess Iâm desperate,â she murmured, Klaus couldnât miss the way her expression seemed so defeated all of a sudden. âMy college loans are looming and I may have been a little dishonest under pressure because my boss wants to fire me all the time.â
âStory of my life too believe it or not,â he offered. âIf only they could get on with their lives and not focus on every little thing that we do.â
âHang on,â she murmured. âThat might not be the worst idea you ever had, Mikaelson. How about we set them up together?â
âMason and Katherine? Thatâs just a recipe for disaster. That much combined combustible energy cannot be safe.â
âExactly why we have to do it,â she murmured, raising her eyebrows.
âSo, I suppose Iâll see you in Vegas then?â
âIf youâre lucky,â she chuckled, but given her tone Klaus knew sheâd be there no matter what. Â
MGM Grand, 3799 S Las Vegas Blvd Las Vegas, NV
âOkay, I sent the fruit basket to her room.â
âArenât you a romantic,â she drawled teasingly, barely looking up from her magazine on the bed as he entered. Klaus Mikaelson was the last person she expected to organise that. As much as she was attracted to him, Caroline was seeing no similar interests besides setting up their bosses.Â
âPlease donât ever call me that. But, last time I checked youâd done absolutely nothing,â Klaus shot back. âAnd I won the last bet and everything. Time to show you care, Forbes.â
âLike sending an identical one hour massage voucher to both his and her rooms for the same time in the hotel spa?â
âI suppose thatâs okay,â he mumbled.
âWhy do I get the impression that you donât like ideas coming from anyone but yourself?â
âWell...â
âIt must be all that ego,â she groaned.Â
âYou really do hate me,â he asked incredulously, it was unusual for any female to think badly of him let alone abuse him incessantly.Â
âFor the most part.â
âWow, arenât you sweet,â he drawled. âSo what are we supposed to do to pass the time?â
âGet your mind out of the gutter,â Caroline shot back. âHow about something more intellectual?â
âWow. Finally something we have in common,â he smirked triumphantly, as she produced a chess board.Â
âI happened to be chess champion five years running in High School.â
âWell, donât want all those potential but ignorant suitors knowing that fact,â he chuckled, sending a stray dimple her way. Caroline tried to pretend that it didnât affect her but everything inside was telling her that it did.Â
And she was scared of the foreign feelings it had caused.
But in true Caroline fashion she decided to push it aside so she could beat him at chess then deal with the consequences that were threatening to derail her feelings later. She didnât get that chance though. In fact she was in a more vulnerable position than expected.Â
âCheck Mate,â he murmured, sweeping his queen across the board to take her king.Â
She was stunned at first mainly because she never lost. Ever. But he seemed to know her and rather than unsettling her it was weirdly okay.
Bastard.
âWe have a boxing match to get to,â she responded mechanically. His hand grabbed hers immediately, the warmth spreading through her body. âNeed to keep an eye on our bosses after all.â
âOr we could do something else?â He offered, squeezing her hand affectionately. âMy siblings are in town tonight but Iâm going to warn you they are...â
âNickâs Fans?â She asked. âIâve certainly experienced them and worse.â
âYou have no idea, in fact I think theyâd be perfect company for Katherine and Mason.â
âWhy do I get the feeling you donât care if you lose your job right now?â
âWell, if you knew my brother Kol and his big mouth,â he teased. âBut if youâd rather...â
âNo, Iâm starting to really like your brother Kol.â
âWell. then youâre really going to like my sister Rebekah,â he chuckled. âHow about we explore Vegas some more? See what fun we can get up to?â
âI suppose it canât hurt, right?â Caroline replied.
Famous last words.

Parallels
As a Chosen, Lloyd will be expected to take on the journey to complete the World Regeneration. Of course he would rather stay in the village with Colette and live his life alongside her.Â
At the very least, he could give her something to remember him by.
Fandom: Tales of Symphonia Characters/Pairings: Lloyd Irving/Colette Brunel, Raine Sage, Genis Sage, Dirk Rating: G Mirror Links: AO3 Notes: This was written for @frayed-symphony for a Secret Santa exchange! This fic was based off her Chosen Lloyd concept which she has drawn fantastic art for (here and here). Iâm so glad I was given the opportunity to write something for you and for this idea also! (And over 8000k, Iâm sorry haha). Youâve been an awesome friend and this story is just a small way of saying thank you!!
Lloyd
On one of Lloydâs past birthdays â 14 to be exact â Colette had seemed surprised that he was getting her a present instead.
âBut, itâs your birthday! I should be getting you somethingâŚâ Although she couldnât take her eyes off the little carving of a doggy figure he was just finishing up. They were far from the Church, far from Coletteâs house even, in a part of Iseliaâs forests where few others would stumble upon them. At least not yet.
âHm, I donât really care about my birthday that much,â he said once, and maybe that had already been too much. But just then, he had just finished his gift, remembering what the dwarf had taught him when the pastors werenât paying attention. âAnd itâs more fun making stuff for you!â
He would never forget the way Coletteâs eyes lighted up. How happy she seemed to be at one of his first attempts at crafting. But as long as Dirk kept visiting the church, and as long as Colette kept being his friend, he wanted to give her even more.
In the distance, they heard some voices call out to Lloyd. Although not by his name.
âAh, Iâm sorry,â Colette said then. âI hope I donât get you in trouble.â She held the doggy statue safely in her palms.
Chosen, Chosen One the wind kept repeating. Lloyd shook it away.
He took her hand then, the one free of the statue, and smiled. âHey, if you want to get me a present, you should take me exploring! I donât think weâve done much of it lately.â
Colette had smiled too, gripping the boyâs hand tight. Once they rushed away from the voices, Lloyd had sometimes imagined that they were both running away from those voices foreverâŚ
âChosen! Chosen One!â
Lloyd had been trying to work on the necklace for the past three weeks, but there was always something interrupting him. The knock on his door, along with the insistent calling, was just another one of those.
He instantly put away his tools and the nearly finished necklace in a small tin box. Doing it fast enough while also not scratching up the jewelry proved to be a bit challenging, and he probably just made more noise that way. He could already hear the pastor grumbling outside his door. âJ-just a minute!â he called out, going to a nearby cabinet.
âChosen, this is the fourth time this week you have been late for your lessons. Punctuality is highly important-â
âYeah, yeah, no problem!â Lloyd was trying to fasten up his outfit. It always felt so stiff and hard to move around in, but just getting away with the shirt and pants he slept in never cut it. (He tried). Once everything was set, he finally opened the door, totally not looking like he had been up half the night working on his project. âOkay, Iâm set!â
Even after a lifetime of being at the Church, he never knew how to talk to the pastors, always so proper and formal in their speech. The old man looked at Lloyd with a certain air of disapproval â just a little bit, for he was still to be the savior of their world after all. He inclined his head slightly to Lloyd, maybe too much. Lloyd thought the big hat he wore would fall off from the action, and even shifted a little to catch it if it did.
âYouâve been doing so well lately in your memorization of the scriptures, Chosen. It would be beneficial of you to simply focus on that than on other, less vital pursuits.â
âŚCrap, did the old man already find out what heâd been doing? Lloyd shifted nervously on his feet, which probably didnât help his image. âI just overslept a little! Sleeping is pretty important!â
The pastor didnât argue, because it was frowned upon to argue with the Chosen. A little loophole that Lloyd had found out about when he was little, and may have used it to his advantage numerous times.
Well, until his dad got involved.
Lloyd pushed that thought aside and was more or less nudging the pastor away from his roomâs door to get going. âAnyway, uh, letâs go! Got a lot of books to get through!â And man, was there a lot of books. He could read fast and well with all the years of book-reading he was forced to do. Not like he enjoyed it, but what else could he do?
âMy, I must apologize then, Chosen. It is good to see you eager for a lesson!â
Lloyd put on a big smile until the pastor turned away to head for the stairs. Once unseen, he was back to frowning. The old man really was old and had not noticed Lloyd had long stopped following him. The Chosen watched him descend the steps, then leaned back against the wall, sighing so deeply it pulled at his chest.
Was there really a point in having more lessons?
As a Chosen, there wasnât much Lloyd was allowed to do, and there werenât many places he was allowed to go either. He was salvation itself, so he needed to be safe, and to stay safe, he needed to remain within the Church at nearly all times until he went to school. Going to school had always been something heâd look forward.
But as time passed, it was getting harder to enjoy much of anything.
Anything except the necklace, which he had been working on day and night â whenever the priests werenât paying attention. At the very least, he could leave something behind for her, hoping that was enough.
And⌠if he had to choose, he would rather go through all this than anyone else⌠He imagined briefly of another dealing with the role of Chosen and it only made the ache inside him worse.
It was better this way.
Down the stairsâ corridor, he could hear the confused mutterings of the priest. He rolled his eyes and quickly followed after. Just something he would have to go through. Again.
âŚStill, these lessons dealt with way, way too many books.
Living at the Church did have some benefits though.
For one, it was right by the beach, which Lloyd had definitely snuck off to on more than one occasion. Colette had worried if it was okay for him to go, and Genis had worried he would trip against one of the rocks and crack his head open, thus ruining Sylvarantâs one chance at salvation. But that had only nearly happened one time! Making highly detailed sand castles with Colette, and burying a napping Genis in the sand, were things he didnât ever want to trade away for just being safely cooped up in his room.
Another was that he got to see Dirk a whole lot.
Just after another mind-numbing book lesson, he made his way down to the atrium, the place more wide, the walls helping reverberate the sounds of his footsteps. He was glad to see the dwarf there, already setting up another work sculpture of Martel. Or maybe it was Mithos? Lloyd still had trouble telling the difference sometimes. He really, really tried to keep that fact hidden from his instructors. It had worked so far!
The dwarf turned to him, his bushy beard hiding half of his face, but not his grin. Hands were on both of his hips, eyes angled up at the boy that was slightly taller than him.
âAh, Lloyd! Ya look ready to fall asleep on yer feet!â
âEhehe⌠Iâm fine! Really!â A tiny stumble against one of the pews but Lloyd more or less righted himself up. The dwarf merely shook his head.
âWell! I was just finished with my work. Need anything?â
Sometimes Lloyd wondered what made the dwarf come back here so much. He had been here ever since Lloyd was little, seen much more of him than of⌠Anyway, he was always traveling around so much, working on crafting commissions, sometimes even bringing back a souvenir he had bought on the road. Lloyd still had some of them; one of the famous Palma Potions from Palmacosta, some pottery from Triet, and even a cool-looking wooden figure of a swordsman! Dirk hadnât specified where he got that last one, making Lloyd think he had made it himself.
He had thought about asking him many times before. But the years kept passing, and the day for when he would leave was only getting closer. He figured there was really no point in asking now.
Instead, he reached into his pocket, pulling out the necklace he had poured everything into. He held it up for Dirk. âYou think this looks any good?â
The dwarf placed a hand on his chin, mock-deep in thought. âHm, I donât think that color works on ya.â
âNot for me!â
Dirk laughed loudly, his voice bouncing across the walls of the Church. After so much stress on being quiet within these walls, the dwarfâs laugh was welcome. He held out his hand. âHere, let me see.â
Excited to show off his work, but also worried on being judged, Lloyd gave it to him quickly. âI, uh⌠kinda had to rush through it this morning. But I think I got the size right this time! And, I didnât waste the metal like you said and-â
âHold on a bit, Lloyd.â
âRight, sorry.â
Dirk was holding up the necklace by its chain. The sunlight from the stained windows glinted off its pendant, a deep red jewel embedded in its center. After a brief look, the dwarf was grinning. âReally outdone yourself for this one.â He gathered it back carefully in his palm. âThe chain work is strong, and the pendant is much more even this time. Not completely! Still need some work on that.â He handed it back to Lloyd. âSheâll be very happy with it.â
With Dirkâs praise, Lloyd felt something lift off his shoulders. The weight of everything else was still there⌠but this one thing, it gave him some lightness.
He held the necklace in both his hands before putting it away. âThanks!â
âYer welcome, lad. But.. I gather you still have more on your mind?â
Man, was he this easy to read with everyone now? Lloyd shook his head. âNah, not really. Just bored with the same things, like always.â
âBut your training should be giving ya some excitement.â Dirk crossed his arms, finally resting his legs by seating on a nearby stool. âAnd ya still got that sword I gave ya? The one the priests said was lost?â
Lloyd scratched at his cheek, grinning. âHey, I did lose it! But then I found it again. Who knew it was under my bed this whole time?â
Dirk grinned back, laughing into his beard. âA shame it was not before they asked me to make you another one to continue with your training. But I suppose itâs good that you have a spare.â
Lloyd nodded at that. âYep! And, well, canât leave your other sword to waste. So itâs only better to use both, right?â
Both Dirkâs and Lloydâs plan for him to use dual blades should have been so see-through, but once Lloyd started training with his double weapons, the priests couldnât find much to argue with. The Chosen had to know how to defend himself, after all. And⌠his logic did make some sort of sense to them. Wouldnât two weapons be better than one?
The dwarf shook his head. âMighty clever thinking there! Iâm sure that will help on your journey.â
The mention of the journey put a dark cloud in Lloydâs head suddenly. Right. In the end, that was the point of the swords anyway. To protect himself untilâŚ
âAlso!â Dirkâs voice broke through, and he watched as the dwarf reached around him towards a satchel, bringing it towards the front. âGot my latest commission done! And no worries. The Church will take care of the bill when they see it later.â He handed the folded clothes to Lloyd.
His eyes widened in glee at the design. âYou already made it! Nice!â
âFitting for a master swordsman and a Chosen, right?â Dirk seemed pleased as well. âAt the very least, these would help you move around better, and has a place for your swords.â
Lloyd would have gone to hug the dwarf if he could â or if that wasnât a bit weird. âIâm definitely wearing these from now on!â
Even as Dirk looked very pleased, he stared at Lloyd with another expression, one that Lloyd couldnât place. âYouâve been doing a lot lately, lad. I hope you remember to rest in between all your work.â
In all fairness, this was a first that he ever heard come from an adult. Usually there was always something do, another thing to learn⌠âAh, Iâm okay enough. Besides, Iâm taking your advice on things!â
âOh, that so?â
âYep!â Lloyd nodded. He had his new clothes underneath one arm, standing proudly. âDwarven vow #4! Donât depend on others. Walk on your own two legs.â He then grinned, glad he could remember that right! He only knew a few of the vows Dirk had mentioned to him, but some like those stood out. âIâm taking that as my mortal from now on!â
Dirk raised a bushy eyebrow. âThink you mean motto there, lad.â
ââŚHuh. That does make a lot more sense.â
âI thought ya read a lot.â
âI did! I do! Just, after a while of non-stop reading, all the words start to look the sameâŚâ
Still, the dwarf smiled. âAnyway⌠Iâm glad you think my old sayings are of any interest. However, hereâs another for ya. Dwarven vow #7! Justice and love will always win!â
ââŚThat doesnât sound as cool at all!â
It was easy to talk with Dirk, easier than most other adults. His dad sometimes just⌠wellâŚ
He saw the light in the sky in a nearby stained-glass window and flinched a little. âOh, shoot. I gotta go. Iâll wear these though!â He held up the clothes then made his way back to his room, waving back at the dwarf. âIâll see ya later!â
âDonât trip over the stairs again!â Dirk called out, his bellowing voice finding every nook and crevice in the room. The pastors would have hated such a sound, but Lloyd was ecstatic. At least for now.
ââŚIs that a new outfit?â
Lloyd had been waiting forever for someone to comment on it, and Genis was never one to disappoint. He put his hands on his hips, knowing the euphoria he felt would be brief but trying to take as much as he could. âYeah! Special tailor-cut for me!â
Genis looked to his Chosen best friend with a curious air. And maybe some suspicion. âHuh. Suits you better. Even those weird suspenders you have seem to work.â
âWhat do you mean weird?â Lloyd asked with a small frown.
âNothing! I said they worked. I donât get those white strips on your collar but⌠they also work, too.â Genis stared at Lloyd with more thought. âYeah, this literally wouldnât look good on anyone else.â
âRemind me to never come to you for compliments.â
Even as the younger boy laughed, Lloyd was grateful for Genisâ honesty. It was hard finding that in most people around him when they spoke with him. It was harder finding that in himself. He pulled at the, high collar in his new outfit, hoping someone else he knew would like it too. Or at least like it enough.
âYou havenât been to school in a while,â Genis hedged. Lloyd had just come back to Iselia as he walked from the Church, both of them meeting right by the schoolhouse. The day was already late, classes long over. Easier this way. Less people to speak with, less incredibly boring phrases to recite. âChosen duties getting too much for you?â
It was meant as a joke. Lloyd didnât really have it in him to laugh along to it though. He pulled at his collar, feeling an anxiousness to him that he had been stemming down for so long, but was slowly beginning to rise the past few months. âJust things. Itâs nothing really.â
When Lloyd was quiet like, his friends always noticed. Genis raised his head, noting the tone. âSorry. That was stupid to say.â
âItâs fine. Really!â He grinned, glad that the collar of his new outfit could hide away some of the strain there. âThereâs been a lot of things lately anyway. I only had time now to even leave.â
Genis stared a little, but gave Lloyd some relief when his young eyes lost some intensity. âDonât worry. I wonât tell them you snuck out again.â
âHeh⌠thanks.â
âAnyway, I know youâre not here to see me.â It was then Genis grinned, much brighter than Lloydâs, much more hopeful than Lloyd could ever imagine to be. âColetteâs been talking about you all day. I donât know how or when you got Noishe to deliver her a letter, but she was real happy about it.â
Noishe was his fatherâs dog first and foremost, but the creature always did him favors. And with Kratos having been gone for so long lately, it just made it easier.
âShut up,â Lloyd muttered jokingly, and Genis only laughed again, the awkwardness about his duty of being a Chosen momentarily forgotten.
He wished it could be forgotten completely.
When he was younger, Lloyd had always wanted to travel the world, to see what it had to offer. When he was younger, the Church told him that he would someday, and he had looked forward to it, excitement lighting up his mind.
But on his eighth birthday, all that excitement went away.
Lloyd sat on the outskirts of Iselia, the grass around him still a bright green, the sky darkening as the sun began to set. He had been there early â a first for him. But for Colette, he would go the extra mile.
He heard her trip over the ground before he even saw her.
âAh, s-sorry! I messed up.â He turned, finding Colette brushing away the grass stains from her dress, just a few feet away. Her blonde hair was a bit frazzled from her fall, but she still smiled.
Gloomy thoughts instantly went away at the sight of her.
âYouâre such a dork. You didnât need to rush here, you know.â Still, he couldnât take his eyes off her as she sat next to him. She was always so cheerful and bright, and it made the world a little less scary to Lloyd when she was near him.
But it also made him feel bitter over the things he would miss as well.
âI know! Just, um..â Colette fiddled with her hands. âItâs been really boring the last few weeks without you. I was so happy seeing Noishe show up to my house! Though I think my grandmotherâs sneezes might have scared him a little, sorry.â
âOh. Oh right! I forgot sheâs allergic..â Gah, why did he have to be stupid about these things? That explained why Noishe was all frantic when he came back. Even the sound of a twig snapping put the dog in a panic. âI guess I should have sent a person insteadâŚâ
âNo, no! I was really glad to get it from Noishe⌠I missed petting him, hehe.â She pulled in her knees, looking at Lloyd with such curious eyes. âYou said you got a new outfit from Dirk! It looks so cool on you!â
âHeh, yeah, it does make me cool, doesnât it?â He smiled, sitting up straight. âItâs even got the Church of Martel symbol on it, see?â He pointed at his vest. Dirk had suggested it as one way to curb away any disdain from his pastors. With this symbol, it was still Chosen-appointed clothes. And with Dirkâs many, many work contributions to the Church, the pastors couldnât deny him either. âItâs way better than the robe things they always make me wear.â
Colette nodded. âYeah! You even have these cute ribbons.â She played with one now, always reaching out to Lloyd with little reserve, and Lloyd always glad she did. He was not someone far off or otherworldly like so many other people would view him as. âAre they meant to do anything?â
Lloyd thought about this. âUm⌠to make me look cool!â Just saying that made him laugh, and made Colette laugh too. It had been weeks since he felt this relaxed, and happy. It would be weeks that he would not feel this again.
He thought the time away would make him forget, but it only brought everything out in full force.
Lloyd was already handing her the necklace before he thought too hard about it.
Colette stared. âLloyd?â
âI⌠Iâve been working on this for a little bit. Just to keep busy.â Just to make the days bearable. âProbably not as good as Dirk does it⌠but he canât really teach me stuff for very long because of..â
Colette carefully took the necklace in both hands, eyes shining. âItâs so pretty! You⌠you always make such beautiful things, Lloyd.â
There was always something in her voice that stopped him, that made him wonder⌠While Genis and Raine always called him by his name, the way Colette does so was always different. It always pulled at him in a way that was sweet and painful. It had gotten too painful lately. Raine had already let him know today⌠only a month left before he would need to go.
âIs this really for me?â she asked, surprising Lloyd out of his thoughts.
âYeah! This can replace the that other one I made for you a few years ago. That was all uneven anyway.â
âOh, I still have that too⌠and the doggy figure! Itâs still on my bookshelf!â
As Lloyd was momentarily stunned at that information, Colette circled the chain around her neck, the red jewel glinting in the waning sunlight. âI know you have so much to do lately. But Iâm so happy!â
Some of that happiness got to him too. He wished he could keep it. âHeh. I wanted to give it you before I-â He stopped.
âBefore you what?â
He had nearly told her then. Lloyd had been trying so hard to keep quiet about things, about what will happen, about what he would have to face. But Colette was looking at him, and suddenly he was ready to tell her everything.
That wouldnât have been fair though. At least one of them should be happy?
âBefore I go on my journey, I mean.â His voice was quieter, which was hard to change. âIâll probably be gone a while, so I wanted to give that to you first.â
At that, Colette was quiet too. Again, something that made him wonder. She looked ready to ask him a question. He anticipated it, unsure if he could keep lying.
Then she smiled. âIâll miss you so much.â She kept holding the necklace in her palm, the sun making her hair shine. âIâm glad you wanted to come out here with me today.â
Lloyd wanted to hug her, and he did. That was one thing he would let himself do. He brought her close to his chest with a strong grip, and Colette held him back, her hands holding tight onto his new outfit. He didnât care if it was wrinkled or whatever.
âOf course I wanted to,â he said softly. Then he pulled back, a smile on his face. âAnd once I regenerate the world, Iâll come right back again, okay? So donât worry about anything!â
Colette kept one hand on Lloydâs arm, while the other clasped the necklace again, pendant going between her fingers. At least, she would have something of him left.
âYou donât have to go back so soon, do you?â she then asked. The sun was nearly past the horizon, and the stars blinked up from their places in the sky. âMaybe, you can tell me what youâve been doing? Not much happened in the village though.. so Iâm sorry if Iâm a little boring.â
Lloyd laughed. âColette, I usually just stay inside and read old books all day. Believe me, nothing is more boring than that. And definitely not you! So no more apologizing, okay?â
If a pastor heard this â if his dad heard this â heâd have been in trouble. The most would have been a stern lecture, but he had heard nothing but lectures for weeks. Coletteâs happy voice was such a difference for everything.
He could enjoy things for one day.
Colette was smiling again, looking beautiful as she always did. âOkay!â
So they both sat back, and they talked. Once the sun had long set, they were still seated by each other. Through all that time, Colette had not let go of the necklace. He wanted to keep that image of her for as long as he could.
Colette
âColette⌠are you sure this is even the right way?â
Having never been out of Iselia her entire life, Colette didnât know much about the world or which road led to where â especially to Triet. She sighed within the desert heat. The clothes she wore were different from her usual outfit for school, made of thicker material, with hidden compartments to sheathe away her chakrams. But it was doing her no favors in this sandy place where the sun beat down relentlessly.
âI⌠Iâm not sure. Not anymore, I guess. Iâm sorry, Genis.â
Genis sighed too, but out of exasperation. âYou really donât need to apologize⌠We probably should have brought a map before we left.â
âBut, that nice caravan family pointed us to here! I donât think they would lie to us..â
Genis shrugged. âI know. Iâm just saying maybe we shouldnât have rushed.â
There were a million things Colette could have argued on why they had to rush, but, she kept them to herself. She pulled at her shirt which was getting sticky with sweat, and she checked to see that her chakrams were indeed still on her.
Lloyd had left Iselia the other day. It had been so sudden, before she had time to prepare. Even Raine had not given her any indication that they would leave so soon. Or maybe that was the reason she hadnât said anythingâŚ
âBut it is weird, isnât it?â Genis said aloud, following Colette still. âLloyd and sis just leaving in the night like that.â
Colette wanted to say what she knew, but Lloyd had kept it a secret for a reason. She didnât feel comfortable revealing it. Not yet at least. âYeah,â she simply agreed. âThey must have had to go right away.â
ââŚAnd Lloyd said you were supposed to go?â
âUh huh!â She nodded, then giggled. A little difficult with how hot it was, but she managed. âI already told you that, Genis!â
âYeah⌠I know.â His tone was low, unconvinced, or really, it could have just been the heat. âWell, sis was obviously supposed to bring me along too. Her and Lloyd really donât pay attention to things sometimes.â
Colette inwardly sighed, feeling relieved. That was why Genis overlooked her obvious lie â he had one of his own. The people most important to them have left them alone, so there was no choice but to follow. Even if they were probably lost, and very, very dehydrated.
But I have to keep going, she thought to herself. As she plodded through the sands, she felt a familiar weight hitting her chest. She had not taken off the necklace ever since Lloyd first gave her a month ago. Then before his birthday had even come, the Church said he had already gone on his journey.
Colette fervently wanted to be with him, and with barely a word to her family, she had gone, leaving them a letter instead. She hoped her father and grandmother could forgive her.
âOh! Is that it?â Genis was saying, and though still dizzy with heat, Colette was able to understand what he meant. Because just ahead was a walled city, standing so far apart from the sandy dunes. There were the figures of people walking by its entrance, and before she knew it, Colette was hurrying towards it. Any worries about maybe being a mirage from the desert did not cross her mind.
She heard Genis shouting after her, also giving chase, but she had to find Lloyd. Each day before he left, she had thought about telling him so many things. She knew she wouldnât be able to live with herself if he had gone and then finished his journey. Once she entered Triet, the amount of market stalls were new to her! People in turbans shifted past her, not minding this pale girl with the light-colored hair. She started to walk off in a random direction, hoping to ask someone if they had seen⌠the Chosen around. She would have to call him that if they were-
âLloyd!â she shouted, finding him at the edge of her vision. She hadnât expected him so soon, seeing the boy to the far side of the plaza, trying to usher in a whining Noishe in one of the stables. He was already looking exhausted doing so. He still had on his new outfit, but now wore belts that held his weapons. She knew of them â it was why she had started using two of her own!
Colette grew excited, waving her arms to him. It took a moment before she saw Lloyd peer through the distance, and then his eyes widened. She started to go to him.
âLloyd, I-!â And then she had tripped. She tripped so frantically that she had completely turned around, trying her best to avoid surprised passerby. Unfortunately, the only way to avoid them was to go straight into a wall.
She heard Lloyd shout her name back once she finally fell.                 Â
âYou know⌠you need to be more careful.â
Colette nodded silently as Lloyd pressed a small bandage on her forehead. It was only a minor scrape, that was what she usually got out of her falls. Although the stall she had fallen into had not been so lucky.
Once Colette had gotten out of the rubble, Lloyd had been rushing to her, eyes wide with surprise. The owner of the stall had been furious, seeing a Colette-shaped wall in his property⌠until Lloyd tried to calm the man down. There had been murmurs and stutters of the boy being the Chosen.
âUh, yeah? Thatâs me,â Lloyd said, still trying to placate the man. âAnyway, she didnât mean it! Colette just-â
âBut why would such a hole be important to the Chosen?â the owner had continued. That had given Lloyd pause, slow in understanding, but then recovering quickly enough to avoid any further trouble.
âBecause⌠itâs an important Church.. landmark?â Lloyd had winced at his own explanation, but no one seemed to notice besides Colette. âYeah! To mark my pilgrimage⌠and junk. I, uh, I bless this thing!â He patted against the mark perfectly shaped like Coletteâs falling body â the imprint of her arms raised high to try and avoid the inevitable. âItâs really important! It was made by my companion on the journey! So donât be mad at her or⌠risk the wrath of Martel! Wait, is that rightâŚ?â
Yet even with Lloydâs shaky explanations, that had been enough to send the crowd surrounding them into gasps of wonder. Soon people were touching the hole in the wall, now blessed by the Chosen, and that was when Lloyd took Coletteâs hand and got them out of there fast.
She had seen Genis with a frowning Raine earlier, and wondered dimly if she had only gotten both herself and her friend in trouble. âIâm sorry,â she said, still seated on the chair.
âWhat? No, itâs fine! Someone would have tripped there sooner or later!â Lloyd had taken her into his room at the inn, worried about any injuries she may have had. âItâs not too bad. Just I guess the Professor should see later and then we can get someone to take you home-â
She knew he had been about to suggest that, and took his hands, gripping them tight. âIâm staying with you, Lloyd.â
She had expected a lot of reactions from Lloyd. Surprised at her determination, confused at why she would do so, and maybe even happy that she would go to him. But she didnât expect the silence that followed suddenly. He didnât grip her hands back.
Colette floundered for a moment, then instinctively reached for the necklace he gave her. It was hidden underneath her shirt, but she pulled it out, both to be reassured as well as to show him. âI want to help protect my friend on his journey⌠Iâve wanted to for a long time! My friend who makes wonderful things like this, and whoâs always been kind to me. If I can just repay it back-â
âColette, I didnât ask you to come with me.â
She stopped, surprised by the sharpness in his voice. Lloyd blinked, then looked to the side.
âLloyd, umâŚâ
âI would have told you if I wanted-â He bit his lip, then sighed. âThis journey is supposed to be dangerous.â
Colette also looked away. âI know. Thatâs why I had to come.â A pause. âYouâre mad at me.â
Lloyd dug a hand through his hair. âIâm⌠Just a little.â He sighed. âI didnât want you to go through this too.â
Colette tried to search for a correct response. The best she could come up with, âNow you donât have to be alone with it.â
âI have the Professor with me! Why do you-â
She gripped his hands tight, tight enough for the both of them. âI want to stay by your side, Lloyd! As.. my friend. And⌠I can help you. I wonât be a burden, I promise.â
âI didnât⌠I didnât say you would be.â She felt him finally hold her hands, at least slightly. âBut it would be dangerous, I told you. You donât even have an Exsphere or anything like it to-â
âI do!â Colette said suddenly. She calmed after. âI mean, I do. Look, itâsâŚâ She rolled up the sleeve covering her right arm, showing a small key crest just on her forearm. It glinted blue, inlaid with polished metal. âIâve been using this so I can fight off the monsters better.â
Lloyd looked at her Exsphere with complete surprise. âWhen did you get that?â Exspheres were not common to come by â it was mainly used by Desians or mercenaries.
âI⌠Dirk made me one. I saw him a while back and asked him if he could make me something. I told him I wanted to help you and he seemed really happy to do it.â
ââŚSo.. he just had Exspheres lying around? He never told me!â
Colette blinked. âOh. He said heâd been carrying one around for a long time.. It was the only one he had. I didnât⌠ask him for an Exsphere exactly. Just if he had something that could help me.â
Lloyd continued to look surprised, confused, and a little betrayed. âBut where would he just find one?â he asked, mainly to himself.
Colette wasnât thinking about that now. She rolled down her sleeve, looking to Lloyd sternly. âI want to stay. And I know I can help you. So⌠please donât turn me away.â
She saw him continue to struggle with his decision. His hands still held hers, a thumb rubbing across her palm. That somber look that she had seen Lloyd have lately â it was there again. There was once a time she didnât know what would cause such a look in him.
He sighed again, but then small laughter left his throat. âGeez, Colette, youâre more stubborn than me.â He raised his head to her with a smile, even though it looked a bit sad still. She held his hands tighter in comfort.
âSo, does that mean I can stay?â
âYouâd just come back, I bet. You and Genis. I definitely didnât expect him though!â He grinned wide then. âMissed his bestest friend, huh?â
Colette giggled, loving that grin of his. It was so rare now. âWell, he did say he missed Professor SageâŚâ
âHey! What about me though?â
âItâs okay! Iâll miss you enough for the both of us!â
She wondered then, if that was a poor choice of words but Lloyd was still smiling. He even laughed.
âHeh, actually, um⌠does that mean Genis will be cooking for us now? The Professor keeps⌠wanting to do that lately.â Lloyd shuddered. âI could barely get through the first week.â
Oh no. Colette remembered the times their teacher had made the school lunch a few times. She giggled at Lloydâs look. âIâm so sorry, Lloyd. I really am!â But she couldnât stop laughing.
He smiled at that, even as he mocked sighed. âAre you making fun of me? Imagine the Chosen failing the journey because of indigestion. Thatâs embarrassing!â
It only made her giggle more, and soon Lloyd was laughing with her again.
Colette hoped she could keep him laughing throughout this journey.
Before Colette had left Iselia, she had decided to not mention what she knew to Lloyd. Even as she went over the knowledge in her head, searching for other ways, she knew it was not her place to say. But she could never fight off the feeling of wanting to be with him still. Once they had fought the guardian in the Fire Seal, she believed she could be useful while also being selfish.
A Chosen needed protectors, and she could even feel Raineâs gratefulness in having an extra pair of hands helping keep Lloyd from danger. He did run into monsters an awful lotâŚ
Then Lloyd had nearly collapsed on the sands. She had never seen him so pale.
âLloyd!â She caught him around the shoulders, and then he had just⌠kept slipping through her arms, making her hold on tighter. âLloyd! Lloyd, wake up!â
âWhâŚwhat?â He blinked dazedly at worried faces, leaning into Coletteâs hold. âI was just⌠taking a nap.â
Genisâ expression went from worried to annoyed. âAre you serious?â
âLloyd, how long have you been feeling faint?â Raine walked up to him, gripping her staff tight. âWe may need to take you to a doctor.â
âI.. Iâm fine! Itâs fine!â Lloyd stood up again, gently moving away from Coletteâs arms. âItâs justâŚthe trial⌠I guess?â
Colette noted how quiet his voice had gotten then.
Raine was considering. âIf thatâs so⌠then we should at least make camp and let you rest. Thereâs an oasis not too far ahead. Genis, get started on dinner when we get there. Colette, please keep an eye on him.â
Lloyd stared at his Professor with some irritation. âI told you Iâm fine. Iâm not gonna run off!â Still, his voice was low.
But Colette knew there was something wrong.
After settling for the night, Lloyd had wanted to walk, and Colette hoped her presence wasnât annoying him. But he seemed happy to have her near. They sat on the cool sands, the stars as outstretched as ever in the desert. Maybe they could find the same constellations here, too?
âHey! Wanna see them again?â he asked her with a grin.
Coletteâs smile must have been obvious, because Lloyd already summoned his wings. Great things that unfurled from his back in a great shift of azure light. Just like they had back in the Fire Seal. They framed him in a beautiful way that she wished she could say aloud without making it sound weird.
âThatâs so cool!â she said, clasping her hands.
âHeh, yeah. AlthoughâŚitâs kinda hard to get used to these.â
Colette tilted her head at him. âYour wings?â
He shrugged. âYeah. I mean, they really do look cool! But⌠theyâre kinda big, arenât they?â
The night made his wings appear that much brighter. They were so much like a birdâs wings, nearly as large as Lloyd was tall. Colette was seated on his right side, and his right wing was curled around them both. She had been tempted to reach out to them, wondering if that glow would make sensations across her skin.
He shrugged. âI guess this is just what it means to be an angel or something.â
Colette pressed her lips together, not saying anything at first. She still remembered when Lloyd had paled, falling to his knees, and not responding to her at allâŚ
âWell, youâre still you, Lloyd. Just with wings!â Maybe there were better ways to say it, but she had never been as good with talking as he was. âAndâŚâ She risked something here, but she continued. âEven if youâre an angel, you donât have to like your wings.â
Lloyd turned to her more fully. She could even feel the wind shift behind her, his wings flinching from his motion. âWhat?â
âI meanâŚâ She tried again. âYou donât have to like them. Because⌠it doesnât seem like you do.â Nervously, she reached up to her necklace, its weight comforting. âI think itâs okay to feel that. Or if you find them scary. I think I would, too.â Especially after a fall like that.
Lloyd kept staring at her. Soon, his wings dissipated into nothing, leaving only floating feathers of azure that also evaporated into the air.
His gaze shifted back to the sands. âIt probably seems dumb⌠Iâm a Chosen and I canât stand the sight of my wings, heh.â His voice was hollow.
She dared once more. âThen⌠why did you want to show them to me?â
Lloyd took a moment. âBecause I have to get used to it. Also⌠itâs easier with you, you know?â
She let go of her necklace to take his hand. Though she couldnât see the Cruxis Crystal he wore, hidden away by the high collar of his jacket, she could feel it there. Maybe Lloyd had wanted to hide it from himself too.
âItâs okay, Lloyd.â
âHm..â he said, unable to say anything more. But she felt him grip her hand back.
Sometimes silence was all that was needed. They stayed that way for a while before going back to camp.
Colette was not always so clever, or smart, or so self-assured. She second guessed herself on so many things, that even when she met a young Lloyd back then, it was his bright smile that got her to talk to him. She hadnât even noticed at first that few others had talked to him either, that she had been one of the first friends he ever had.
But she never doubted she was Lloydâs friend. And she never doubted that he meant so, so much to her.
When he fell earlier today, the doubt about telling him what she knew was beginning to fade away.
âLloyd? Why are you up?â
He was looking up at the sky, standing on a small rise. He always liked connecting the stars â and showing her how to do it as well. There was only him and her awake now, while Raine and Genis rested by the campfire. Even Noishe was sleeping peacefully, with barely a whine leaving his throat.
He turned as she went to him. âOh, itâs my turn to watch for the night, remember?â He smiled. âYou should be sleeping though! Itâs pretty late.â
The journey had been long and difficult, but it was what the Chosen had to endure â at least what Colette knew about it. Lloyd rarely talked about such things at all. Sometimes⌠the only way one could even tell he was a Chosen was at the seals, waiting for the angels to bless him. It was only then when he would look so different, but also so sad.
And each time, she could tell it was hard for Lloyd to hide that sadness.
âLloyd⌠you collapsed today. Again. The Professor said you didnât need to do that now. I was supposed to take overâŚâ
He blinked, then turned away. âItâs okay. I feel a lot better now.â
She hesitated. Sometimes he did this, trying to shut himself away. Sometimes, she would let him, but not tonight. She couldnât. âLloyd, your hand. Is it feeling better?â
âHuh? Yeah.. yeah, itâs fine!â
She reached for it before she could think to ask him. Because she had a feeling he would say no.
After the Wind Seal, Lloyd had been fainting faster, too. Enough that she couldnât catch him this time.
The scrape was deep in his palm, still bleeding a little. Looking at it made her own hand ache. âYou didnât get this checked by the Professor.â
He took his hand away from her quickly. âItâs fine.â
She shook her head. âItâs⌠itâs not, Lloyd. And you know that, donât you?â
He didnât say anything.
Colette reached for her necklace, the gift he had given her just a few weeks before he left. Its weight was a comfort that she held onto at night, and even during their fights against monsters, bandits and Desians, it had stayed strong. It was made by Lloyd who was strong himself, she knew. But even a strong person couldnât beâŚ
âYouâre not eating much⌠and you havenât been sleeping either.â Colette would sometimes wake and still find him staring up at the stars, all by himself. âThings arenât okay.â
She felt cruel saying these things, but Lloyd could never lie so easy, not as well as he thought he could. And right now, no good lies were coming to him. He only looked away, eyes dark and his expression somber.
âWhy are youâŚ?â he started, but couldnât finish. Still, Colette needed to tell him more.
âLloyd, I⌠know about what happens.. on the journey.â
He turned back to her then. For a moment, she couldnât read his eyes at all. She had to fill the silence.
âThis necklace you gave me. Itâs more than just a present⌠it was supposed to be a memento, wasnât it? But, I donât want it to be that. I really donât.â
âYouâre⌠not supposed to-â Lloyd stopped, realizing his mistake. âI mean, thatâs not whatâŚâ
She moved closer to him, reaching for his hands again. She tried not to squeeze it tightly, even though she knew now he would not be able to feel a thing. âI⌠my grandmother knows a lot about the Church of Martel. She used to be a priestess actually. She never told me exactly, but her stories about other Chosen.. and the way youâve been acting lately..â
Lloyd still wasnât looking at her. Afraid she was just making things worse, she started to release him again. âI want to be by your side. I donât want you to go away. I donât know how to stop that but... I had to at least be here.â
Just as she let go, Lloyd went to embrace her. Like he had on the day he gave her the necklace, except so suddenly.
âColette, Iâm⌠Iâm not doing okay. Iâm not⌠They didnât tell me this would happen.â He held her tighter. âDad didnât tell me anything at all.â
She held him back. âIâm sorry.â
He shook. When he spoke, his voice was a little harsh, but she knew it wasnât aimed at her. âWhy are you apologizing? Itâs not⌠itâs never been your fault! I just canât.. handle this. I canât handle anything.â
Colette pulled away so she could see him. With the way he spoke, she expected tears. But none fell from his eyes. So he couldnât⌠âIâll help you find another way. There has to be one. Because I donât want you to go.â It sounded so childish, the way she said it. Still. âI donât want you to go.â
Lloyd looked so sad and lost that she wished she could comfort him better. Lloyd pulled her back in his arms, pressing his forehead to hers. âI donât want to also. I just want to stay.â
Maybe it was the sadness there that made her want to kiss him. She wished sheâd have done it sooner. She had been tempted to on the day he gave her the necklace, but held herself back. She was afraid doing it now would be cruel if he couldnât feel it. But once her lips pressed against his, he kissed her back, fingers digging into her shoulders, desperation in his grip.
It had been fierce and deep. Lloyd pulled back with a little nervousness. âUm⌠I meantâŚâ
Colette leaned in to take his lips again. Softer this time, finding ways to make him feel, at least perhaps a little. And maybe he could, in some way. Because he still held her so tightly, still tried to press against her mouth as much as he could.
I just want to stay, he had told her. Colette would find a way to make that happen.

Did you know @boku-no-headcanons made cannons for your bakushimanari art?
Nope, this is the first I heard of it! But as long as theyâre not reposting my stuff they can do whatever, Iâm happy my stuff can inspire them!Â
Anon said:Â saw u in youtube rewind congrats
.................. are you sure this ask was meant for me?
Anon said:I tried to message you, I found some accounts using your art if you're interested in knowing who they are :/Â
Anon said:@sweetheart_kirishima on instagram posted your art without credit.
Unless itâs tumblr, which has a form I can fill specifically for reposts to have the thing taken down, I canât actually do anything even if you guys tell me. Itâs... frustrating, cause youâd think by this point such popular social media sites/apps would have some way for preventing art thefts, but they got no report option that can be used for art unless Iâm the copyright owner - does that apply to fanarts when the characters arenât mine and I wasnât authorized by the original author to make them? Probably not. So I canât do anything for it, not even ask the reposter to be kind and take my art down, cause as Iâve already said Iâm not on any of those platforms
So I thank you both a lot for having thought about letting me know, but itâs... sort of useless. If you could ask the reposter on my behalf though Iâd be incredibly grateful!

WHAT A MOOD THO
Anon said:HELLO, YES, I'D LIKE MY HEART BACK PLEASE BECAUSE YOU JUST WRECKED IT WITH YOUR CHILDHOOD FRIENDS AU. Kiri is so pretty in it, like oh wow, and Bakugou's brilliant and I LOVE IT. (Also 'manly shit' and 'Katsu,' just slay me now so this happiness never fades).
Ahhhhhh Iâm happy you liked it!!!!!!!! And yah Kiri calling Bakugou Katsu is a weakness of mine, did you know that? Maybe you noticed since I always have him do that haha itâs cause itâs written with the kanji for victory! Isnât that a manly nickname? I like to think Kiri would like it for that haha
Anon said:Â I love how often (from reading the tags on your art) it's like "oops my hand slipped and now you get some krbk instead of something else" lol
It does happen incredibly often! By now theyâre so comfortable to draw for me that I end up drawing them without even realizing haha thatâs what happens when you spend a year and a half drawing always the same two kids lol
Anon said:Ah Fran I love your glasses Bakugou so much! Ever since Kami added those shades to his hero costume it has me convinced he'd be so ridiculously cute in glasses too! I hope you enjoy that adorable mental image :)
You mean Kami? He sure would! Kiri would too! Sero also!!! MINA TOO!!!!! Actually we have canon Mina with glasses I think
yup, what a beauty haha
Anon said:Your kiribaku childhood AU killed me! I just wanted to ask: in your opinion if Kiri&Baku met in middle school do you think theyâd be friends? Baku has a habit of rejecting anyone whoâs âweakerâ than him &seeing how kiri was do you think theyâd be friends? Or Baku not noticing kiri until heâs his equal?Or maybe having a crush on the cute black haired kid but never doing anything about it? Baku Rejecting kiri if he tried to confess to him?Sorry this is long but I just love your perception of them!
Whether theyâd like each other/get along would depends on at which point and in which way theyâd meet, I guess! Middle school was a complicated period for both of them, so it really depends - a few examples of how it could go are
they meet cause they frequent the same middle school - that implies they meet during the first year, when Bakugou was still full on bully/cocky asshole. Kirishima probably wouldnât like him much because of it, would try to fight him. Bakugou might find him annoying/get pissed at how he thinks himself good enough to fight him. Definitely wouldnât get along at first, might change their minds as they get to know each other or just keep on having a shitty relationship forever. I find more beliavable the first, since they do have really compatible personalities, but Bakugou was really convinced of his position as above everyone else back then and Kirishima would have never let him act like he was better than him without putting up a fight, so maybe not. Might actually fuck up their relationship in highschool too, really
they frequent different middle school, but happen to see each other outside of school before the sludge incident - if they were to meet cause Kirishima got in the middle of Bakugou bullying Deku, not much would change from option one. But if they were to meet for unrelated reasons, they could get along - Kirishima might think Bakugou manly, Bakugou might appreciate Kirishimaâs guts (as long as Kiri doesnât try to fight him). At first the relationship would definitely be unbalanced, because Kirishima would have no way of proving to Bakugou heâs at his same level since he wouldnât be, but with time this might change. I can see Kirishima throwing himself at random bullies and Bakugou sighing and sometimes waiting for Kirishima to get his ass beat so maybe heâll learn while other times lazily strolling up till heâs standing next to Kirishima to scare the bullies away. Bakugouâs... Bakugouness might do something to Kirishimaâs self-esteem and could have him have his breakdown sooner, but by that point Bakugou might like him enough to do something about it. Or not. Heâs still a cocky and self-centered ass at this point, after all. Kirishimaâs presence might help with his bullying habit. Or not. Again, still an egoistical and egocentrical fucker at that point. Worse comes to worst, their relationship starts becoming more equal after the sludge incident/kiri seeing gigantomachia
they frequent different middle schools, but meet outside of school after the sludge incident but before kiri sees gigantomachia - this is probably my favorite one as far as them meeting in middle school goes. Bakugou at this point is questioning if heâs actually as strong as he always assumed he was, starting to feel like he needs to prove his worth to the world and himself, while Kirishima is still convinced heâs plain and weak, too scared to actually voice his dreams, but still tries to do his best and help those in need in front of him. If they were to meet at this point, Bakugou might actually find something to admire in Kirishima, find strength in him even - with the down-to-earth optimism and practical positivity, aware of reality but working to fix what he can, not letting circumstances and defeats bring him down. It might help Bakugou put into perspective the sludge incident, instead of just dwelling on it till it became a bomb ready to explode. Kiri would find Bakugou manly and cool, just like in canon, and theyâd be able to build a relationship on equal grounds - Kirishima might even open up to him about how he wishes to try for UA, but heâs nearly sure heâs gonna fail. Bakugou might tell him that as he is right now heâs gonna fail for sure. He might also tell him that a quirk is like a muscle, and muscles get stronger if you train them, so just fucking stop wasting time and train yourself till your quirk is worth something, for fuck sake. By the time the event of Kiriâs backstory roll around, Bakugou might actually be there to hold Kirishima up and not let him go through it by himself. I dunno about crushes, but I do love this scenario and the relationship theyâd end up having because of it
they frequent different schools, meet after Kirishimaâs meeting with gigantomachia - there wouldnât be many differences compared to the canon version of their meeting, I think. Bakugou might be a little more subdued, maybe, but generally itâd be the same.
these are just real general cathegories, depending on how the meeting unfolds anything might happen so really, who knows - thereâs too many possibilities to be sure of anything, really haha
Anon said:fran ur art its so cute ty for posting it!!! also i just wanna say i think your art has improved so much since i started to follow you!! the first drawings of yours i saw were your old aokaga and i think really youve improved a lot!! Anon said:Do you think Bakugou would ever say babe or other sweet nicknames?
Yah I think so. Like, not all nicknames, like âhoneyâ probably never or âsweetheartâ highly umprobable, but babe or gorgeous/handsome/beautiful or love, I can see him using those! Mostly cause Mitsukiâs personality was obviously based on Bakugou and she calls Masaru âdearâ, so I think Bakugou does have the... predisposition for it, letâs say it like that haha he might more whisper them/keep them private, but I do think heâd use them~
Anon said:You're so good at emitting moods/vibes through your art?? Like, every single time you just... Idk what kind of magic you... I love you??? You turn me to putty Fran.

All I keep in mind while going at it is that gravity is a thing and clothes are affected by it too, and thatâs about it ;;; Iâm incredibly sorry, but Iâm pretty sure someone that actually knows what theyâre doing would look at my stuff and see a lot of mistakes, so maybe itâs best if I donât give tips about this to anyone, least I spread more misinformation than anything else orz Iâm sure thereâs good tutorials for it around, tho!!

Hana stared at the blank computer screen, feeling the boredom draining her young teenage soul. She sighed as she folded her arms and lounged back against the pillow. She was in the pit of the living room, laying in her usual spot that she and her cousin liked to argue over all the time, but luckily her cousin was still no where to be found, but then again, he usually doesnt stay up half the nights. With that thought in mind, she closed her laptop and packed it up. She'd better go to bed before her uncle Leo caught her up again. He tends to do that, him or uncle Raph. Though when uncle Raph finds her, he just lets it go. Her uncle Leo lectures her forever on how its important to sleep more. She hoisted her computer bag, scratching at her messy hair, yawning. She looked at her watch, six thirty. Uh oh.
"And why are you still up missy?" A voice came from the shadows, suddenly arms wrapped around her neck, holding her in a head lock. "You should know better!" The voice added. Hana didnt think twice, she grabbed the beings arm, flipping the anonymous over onto their back, she was about to strike a punch when light captured the mutant before her. It wasnt her uncles, or her father. She huffed, making a strand of hair in her face blow. "Remy! You little---"
Remy snickered, smirking as he got to his feet and dusted off. "Oh man you should of seen yourself. You chicken."
Hana gave him a look, unimpressed, "This chicken just flipped your butt." She retorted in a matter of fact tone. "What are you doing up this early anyways?"
Remy shrugged, "Woke up, and just saw my sweet baby cousin here, all alone in the dim big living room, where monsters can just come and get her."
Hana kept her eyes on him, her face souring. "You dummy, we are the same age."
"According to our birth records, I am older than you." He said.
The brown eyed girl gave him a hard look before her eyes caught sight of her father and uncle Leo coming out of their rooms. Leo rubbed his eyes a bit, yawning. "Hana did you stay up again?" He questioned.
Hana shifted her eyes and gripped her bag, "No. I uh...just came out here---" She began then gave her cousin a look, "Remy was keeping me up off and on, finally i came in here to tell him to get to bed before his dad found him."
Leo's eyes drifted to his son, giving his son a look. Remy put his hands up and shook his head, "What? no way!"
"Of course thats what happened Remy, I mean why would I lie? I have no purpose in getting my older cousin in trouble...now would I? Now if you excuse me boys, I have to go get changed." She then started for her room and looked back to stick her tongue out at Remy, she turned her head back, hiding her big grin on her face as she heard Leo's lecture start.
***
Kohana opened her eyes, feeling better now she had slept a bit before going to training, she saw her alarm clock, Twelve O' Clock. Great. Once dressed she grabbed her weapon and came out of her room, ready to train, her tracks stopped when she saw her family in the living room, thats odd since her parents and uncles are always in the dojo around noon.
"You must of been wicked tired little dudette." Mikey spoke, settling himself next to Liz as he started munching on his slice in a way that would be disgusting if you had just met him.
Liz watched Mikey for a moment, a little confused by how he even eats like that. Her eyes shifted to her husband as if she was silently trying to send him something, in normal cases Leo would pick up on it, but his eyes were on Hana.
"Hana its four in the afternoon, youve been asleep all day."
"Thats not possible, my clock---" She stopped when her eyes drifted on the back of her cousins head, oh, so you wanna play it that way huh. She noted in her head, she folded her arms and thought. She then started water works, "Im sorry Uncle Leo, I just, Ive been so tired lately, my body is you know...going through...the change.."
That got all eyes on her.
"The change?" Mikey asked.
Hana nodded, "Yeah, I became a woman today, and the cramps, along with the none stop bleeding, its just been a long night. And not to mention the womanly body parts---"
Remy started screaming, covering his ears, "Dad make her stop! Make her stop!"
Leo looked already uncomfrotable, "Okay okay, we get it Hana."
"Thats not the only part Uncle Leo." She then stepped down and sat next to Remy, "I think my boobs are getting bigger----" She started saying over Remys yelling till April smacked her heavy books down on the floor making the room go silent. The silent lingered for a while as April flipped her hair out of her eyes. "Sorry I saw a bug." She said simply.
"And here I thought youd say something about our daughter torturing the young boy about hearing girls body parts." Donnie said.
"How is it torturing, there is nothing wrong with explaining women stuff, like right now my boobs are so swollen, i really think their balloons." Liz said simply, she then looked over at the others, "Oh what? its not like I said anything about my v---"
"Okay! Okay we get it...dear." Leo interrupted her, he sighed, feeling suddenly his age.
Donnie stood up, "Subject change, do you know when Raph and Irrilia are supposed to come back?"
Leo shrugged, "He said sometime tonight I think."
Hana stood up fast, in the process her hand smacked Remy in the face making him flinch, though she was oblivious to her actions, when it came to her older cousin she couldnt function right. She didnt know why, "My big cousin is coming home tonight!? Oh gosh! and I look like this!" She gasped.
Remy groaned, rubbing his face, "Why couldnt you have been a boy. and Why couldnt the only boy be near my age!" He glared at Donnie and April.
"Dont look at me kiddo, Koji just kinda fell into our lives, she...she just happened." Donnie said, he grunted when April smacked his arm before she stood. "Remy, Kohana, why dont you two get ready for patrol."
"Patrol? No way, I cant be bothered with that, I gotta hurry and get ready---"
"Its not like your dating her Hana." Remy grumbled.
"Well no, but shes my idol. Unlike some people who's a thorn in my side." Hana said closing her eyes and opening one eye looking at Remy.
Remy he didnt know why but her words struck a nerve, a bad one at that. He stood up, glaring at her. "You know what, fine. Your a pain in my side too." He snapped before making his way past his parents.
"Where are you going?" Leo asked a little frantic.
"Anywhere where miss know it all isnt in my sight." He sneered.
Hana silently watched her cousin go, frowning, guilt slowly overcame her when all eyes were on her. She looked down, turning to the rooms, she hurried to hide herself in the one place she felt safe. Her dads old room. Strange isnt it.
***
Remy stood on a roof top watching the bright lit city being lively. They werent kidding when they say this city never sleeps. He frowned, contemplating on wheather he should go back home or not, why should he, all he's gonna get is trashed by the princess of knows it all. He folded his arms. "I hate women. They're so annoying sometimes..." He shook his head. "No, I dont hate them, Hana's not even a woman, that'd be an insult to the pretty women." He grumbled.
"Whoa, who pissed you off?" A voice from behind spoke. Remy turned to see a tall, bulk asian guy staring back at him. The guy smirked big, "Awe, you kinda look cute with a pissy look on that face."
Remy curled up his lip, "And you look stupid with that face." He spat. The black haired guy snickered. "Thats adorable really, so whats your name? Chumpy?"
Remy scoffed, "No. Thats my fathers name though." From what he heard anyways.
"Im Yoshiro." He offered.
"I dont care." Remy said simply.
"Look kid Im trying to be nice to ya." Yoshiro said.
"Did I even ask you to? and Im not a kid you irritation on my plate." Remy spat, rolling his eyes.
Yoshiro scoffed, "Adorable."
"Your two seconds away from being road kill." Remy threatened making Yoshiro bellow in laughter making the fire of the angsty teen burn even more. Remy threw out a bokken his dad once handed down to him, before he could even move he suddenly felt a hit to his face, he gritted his teeth when he felt his back connect to he cement of the roof. In the process Remy dropped his bokken and before Yoshiro could decapitate him, he whipped out a small knife he's learned to keep in his wraps, he gritted his teeth, staring in the eyes of his now enemy. Slowly Remy felt the pressure of the guy putting, the blade coming closer and closer to his neck, luck was on the young mutant's side. Suddenly the human boy was shoved off by someone. A woman stood between the two, he watched in awe.
"Yoshiro! I tell you to do one job and yet I see you rivaling with a mutant whoms not your concern?!" The woman scolded. She turned to Remy, kneeling down, she held out a hand. "Remy? Are you okay?" She asked.
Remy eyed her, "Who...Who are you?" He asked sounding a little scared.
Karai carefully helped the young boy to his feet and held him up till he was steady, "Im Karai, your father and I have history. Im so sorry for my..." She looked back frowning, "Student."
Yoshiro stared at Karai for a moment before folding his arms and stared at his feet. Karai kept her eyes on him for a moment. Her eyes diverted back to Remy when he started moving for an exit. "Where are you going?"
"Home." Remy said.
"Ill follow" Karai spoke, already determined to, "I can explain that bruise on your face to your father, come on boys." She ordered.
Once in the sewers the sloshing of water as they made their way back to the lair was all that was heard, The boys walked side by side in silence till Yoshiro finally broke the silence. "No hard feelings?" He smirked at Remy as he kept walking while Remy stopped, his eyes drew daggers at the jerk, One day. He cursed in his head. The rest of the way stayed silent.
***
"Leo!" Karai called out, Leo came out of the kitchen at the sound of his name and stopped when he saw Karai, A smile slowly came to his face, "Karai, its been a while."
"Of course it has." Karai hugged him short before she made way for Leo's son, "Your son and my...student had a trival." She explained.
Leo went to his son frowning. "You okay kiddo?" He asked trying to hide his worry.
Remy looked back at the uglyness blinding his eyes, he looked back at his dad, "Id be better if that jackle----"
Leo closed his eyes and put his hand on his sons mouth. He shook his head cursing on how much his kid acts like his mother, sometimes thats a blessing and a curse. He opened his eyes and looked at his son, he pulled his hand away.
"Ow!" Remy snapped making sure his dad knew that he hit his bruise.
"Go see your mother." Leo said simply before rubbing his head a little embarrassed by that action. "She should be in the bedroom."
Remy sighed, turning for the bedroom, on his way he met Hana. Hana widened her eyes when she saw his bruise. She wanted to ask but decided against it, though she did go after him. "Remy? Are you still mad?"
"Passing by you should tell you that. I thought you were supposed to be the smart one." He spat before he was yeilded as she quickly got in front of him. Her eyes were red, and her cheeks were puffy. "Have you been crying?"
Her face turned red a bit and shook her head quickly. Her bangs covering some of her face. She looked nervous, and guilty. She had never been the best hider of feelings. "Im...Im sorry Remy, I sometimes just dont know how much of a jerk I can be."
Remy rolled his eyes, He folded his arms, "And?"
Hana looked at him confused for a moment, she surrendered anyways, "And Im a stupid girl with no heart...or brains."
"Aaaand?" He ventured.
Hana gave him a look, she looked away, her eyes shifting a moment, suddenly feeling anxious, she never knows why she does, her father swears its her anxiety. Whatever that is. "And Ill do your chores for a month to show how sorry I am." She looked up at him and smiled a little.
Remy's face slowly softened, His arms wrapped around her for a long moment before he pulled back. Her smile grew wider revealing her small gap, "So no hard feelings?"
The young hybrid gazed at her hand as she held it out, he then took it and shook it. "No hard feelings." He agreed.
Hana shook on it, giving out a small chuckle before her eyes caught sight of the boy standing afar. Her eyes grew big, she dropped her hand and went to the steps, "Oh...my...gosh..." She said, suddenly feeling a burst of emotions, her heart started racing as her palms grew sweaty so sudden, she gazed at the gorgeous face, those big brown eyes, that black hair. That body. Why did it get so hot suddenly. Remy went to his cousin and noticed her staring at him, he shook his head already knowing what was going through her head. "Dont even think about it Hana, he's bad news."
Hana couldnt help but to smile even more when the guy looked her direction, "If he's bad news, then I need some bad news." She said with a soft voice, "Hes so....perfect...Oh man, I think im thinking about it!"
Remy grabbed her arm, "I think my mom wanted us." He started dragging her to the room.
"Oh come on Remy, just let me say hi." She begged.
"No way, hi ends with you and him doing things." Remy glared a bit, "Thats how I was born, thats how you were born. No."
As Hana resisted and whimpered Remy hoisted her over his shoulder, he looked over his shoulder, glaring at the guy before he headed for the room, "Youll thank me Hana. He's bad news all over."
Hana propped her elbow on his shoulder, putting her chin in her hand, she kept her smile. "Whatever you say Remy..." She said, absolutely not listening at all to her cousin.
Whats bad is, Remy knew that, He groaned.
Oh how he hated this new guy.

galsaek piano // min yoongi

summary: you never really liked working at your parents music store until 5 months ago a boy with the strongest love for the piano youve ever seen started coming by every week to play the brown old piano in the middle of the store. as each week passed you started falling for the mysterious boy you barley even knew. all you knew about him was his name. min yoongi. he had told you in the second month after his visits became regular. it had taken you two months to even have the courage to talk to him and ask for his name. you never spoke again. you figured he wasnât really a man of words.â¨you looked at your watch. 4:30. he should be here any minute, you thought to yourself as he always came around the same time. not really paying attention to anything you didnât even hear the door opening. you were taken back into reality in seconds when you heard the beautiful sound of the piano. there he sat again, playing the piano like his life depended on it. you knew it was his own music, sometimes he would be there for hours scribbling tiny musical notes onto an empty sheet of paper. â¨he was truly fascinating. you liked watching him while playing. he was attractive theres no denying in that. he looked unreal. you had drawn him into your sketchbook several times. but what attracted you to him the most was the fact that you had never met anyone with such a passion for this instrument before. even you could feel it. he wasnât just playing it. he was feeling it, living it, like he became one with the piano. â¨it had been 5 months since he walked into the store for the first time. you didnât wanna admit it but you were falling for him. hard. you never thought you could possibly fall in love with somebody you donât even really know but it was happening and you couldnât change it. it was obvious. you couldnât wait to spend your weekends working at the music store anymore. basically seeing and hearing him play was the highlight of your whole week since your life wasnât exactly exciting. all you really wanted was to be able to lay in his arms or listen to him playing the piano for you everyday. but you couldnât. because even though he had so much love for the piano, he didnât seem to have love for anything else. he seemed cold and almost emotionless when you talked to him that one time asking for his name. it intimidated you, which made you keep your mouth shut and admire him from the distance. you werenât really a talkative person yourself, so you could kind of understand him. but it hurt. waiting the whole week until you could see him for a bit before he disappeared again hurt. you knew you needed to talk to him, or it would kill you inside. there were so many questions to ask, so much you wanted to know about him. you had to dig out the tiniest piece of confidence there was in you and go over to him. so you did.â¨he didnât even notice you approaching him, he was too lost in the music. âwhy did you choose this piano?â the music abruptly stopped and he flinched as your sudden speaking scared him. he looked at you with a questioned look âi mean there are so many in this store. why are you always playing on this one, whats so special about it?â you specified the question. he looked at you for a moment not saying anything before hitting the keys again. you sighed disappointed, it was hopeless. you started turning around and walking away when the music suddenly stopped again. âits like the one i used to haveâ he spoke almost whispering. you turned around quickly âwhat did you say?â you asked him as you couldnât hear him clearly. âthe piano.â he started, pointing at it âit looks exactly like the one i used to have when i was youngerâ you came closer âused to have? what happened with it?â his face quickly changed âits not something i like talking about so id rather not tellâ he looked sad âitâs okay, iâm sorry i didnât want to upset youâ you placed a hand on his shoulder to comfort him. you almost didnât see it but he smiled at you softly. it was the first time youâd seen him smile in all this time. you removed your hand. this was the longest youâve ever talked, if he wasnât gonna say anything more than that youâd be okay with it. baby steps, you thought to yourself. you started walking away again when he suddenly said your name âY/Nâ you never turned around faster, you didnât think he actually remembered your name. you looked at him patiently waiting for him to continue. âwhy did you never talk to me again after that one time you introduced yourself?â you were shocked, thats not what you expected. âi - uhm - i donât know. you just seemed so cold so i thought you werenât interested in talking to me. but today i had to, it was driving me crazyâ you blushed, realizing what you just said. âim sorry i made you think that. iâm just not good with words. thats why i love the piano so much, the music helps me express my feelings.â softly and slowly he pressed some keys âthats beautiful, i wish i could play an instrument so well. iâve never met anyone as passionate as you.â he started laughing as soon as you said those words, you looked at him confused and scared wondering what you just said âwhy are you laughing?â âi just think its ironic that your parents own a music store and you canât play an instrumentâ he told you. now that you thought about it he was right âyeah it is strange, but i guess its because i already found my passion in something elseâ his eyes were filled with curiosity after those wordsâand what would that be?â âart. i draw and paintâ you told him. he nodded he seemed to be pretty interested in other peoples passions. âwell thats pretty amazing too.â you sat next to him on the piano stool and started playing random keys âsince you come here every week anyways maybe you could teach me how to play?â you didnât know where this boost of confidence was coming from but you were glad you had it in you. he chuckled âim not a very good teacherâ you nodded sadly. âevery week when i walk in here i hope that no one bought itâ you knew exactly what he was talking about âyeah i always hope no one buys it either. when someone else is playing it it just doesnât look rightâ it was true, so many people sometimes played on it and each time you prayed they would just end up ignoring it. because you were so scared that if the piano would be taken by someone, yoongi would disappear with it. the thought of it made you shiver. âY/N are you okay?â he asked confused, you grabbed his hand âplease donât leave meâ his face changed from worried to confused in an instant âfor the past months youâve been coming in here, playing this piano and then leaving again without saying anything. yet, i still started falling for you. i couldnât help it. and every week im afraid you wonât walk through this door and ill never see you again. so im asking you now, min yoongi, please donât leave me.â there was a single tear in the corner of your eye. it was still like a riddle to you, how he could affect you this much. how he could make you feel things youâve never felt before. but he did. it was scary how you can get attached to someone so fast. to give them the power to be able to hurt you. he cupped your face with his hands and gently removed the tear from your eye with his thumb. he pulled you closer and gave you a soft kiss on your forehead. âim sorry i havenât talked to you sooner. i didnât know you felt this way.â he let go of you and started playing a song. it was one of the most beautiful melodies youâve ever heard. âi always write my songs about things that go through my mind. iâve been dealing with a lot lately and didnât really have anyone. the piano always comforted me but i lost my connection with it for a while. so when i walked past this store and saw the piano through the window, it reminded me of how much i loved to play. so i kept coming and im not planning on stopping.â you gave him a hug and werenât sure if he was slightly sobbing or not âyouâre not alone anymore, you have me nowâ he pulled away and grabbed your hand. âthank youâ you smiled. both of you. you felt this deep connection with him in the pit of your stomach and something about the way he looked at you told you, he felt it tooâŚ
