At least, I don't expect it because I don't think of District 12 as a place that cares about me" girl you deliver strawberries to the Mayor, you hunt and trade for the district, when you fell at Prim being chosen someone caught you, when you went to Prim people parted for you, when you volunteered EVERYONE stopped. Idk how to tell you but I think you're a pillar of the community.

(also the pieces of meat -- the feeding or kissing, it's hard to say which of it all -- being present right from the beginning... ianthe DOES know exactly what has happened to her, doesn't she. palamedes is just cutting his way through her layers of denial and repression all merciless and scalpel-like to get her to admit it. or, she knows subconsciously at least -- each person comes in and feeds her something that she's helpless to stop from becoming a part of her even in her coffin, with bloody kisses. oh baby love is feeding me bad meat and I have no choice but to swallow it down. like yeah I suspect that is how human contact can feel when your sense of self and boundaries developed to be a specific kind of Fucked Up lol. that shit could make a person dream of being a diamond in a glass of wine; perfect, inviolable, untouchable, eternally separate and safe. that is quite literally ianthe's first introduction to love -- her sister, a cord around her neck. Corona is Ianthe's other self, a second soul running around outside of her body, and she seems to consider herself as responsible for (and entitled to) the preservation of Corona's soul as her own. the way this mirrors that growing up, Ianthe had to be two necromancers in one body to let them stay together. (twins and ghosts all the way down I guess.) she's still just trying to do the same thing, I think, she's simply put on some bigger boots about it. the central problem of lyctorhood, self vs. connection/love, rears its head once again -- Ianthe existentially wants total self-contained self-sufficiency, perfect control, sovereign sway and masterdom over her soul... but she wants that at the same time as being in uninterrupted (uninterruptible!), eternal and indelible intimacy with her sister, whose soul also cannot be allowed to change. which, you know. freedom and love don't coexist the way you want them to, Ianthe, no matter how clever you are there won't be a way to get what you want. (especially not with a sister whose idea of what love is seems to go more towards being consumed, made one, by whatever violence necessary -- 'she could have taken me'.) man. Ianthe is a spectacular and ongoing piece of work, but sometimes it's hard to see how she could ever have turned out otherwise considering the conditions she was born and raised under haha.

Rotating an AU where Bingge is transmigrated into a younger version of himself from the SV universe at the same time as Shen Yuan. But unlike in the normal SV timeline, The System only minimally interferes with SY!Shen Qingqiu's choices (something, something about Bingge's transmigration...).

Not that Bingge makes it easy for things to change. He spends what's left of his second "childhood" waiting for the shoe to finally drop, suspicious of this "nice" Shen Qingqiu. Yet, he plays along anyway-- there are pieces he needs to setup. To redo it all. Reclaim his position of power, anyway. He'll just kill Shen Qingqiu again later. Or so he tells himself.

Not that it isn't sort of nice...

The Immortal Alliance Conference eventually comes again. Bingge plans to fall--he needs Xin Mo, after all--regardless of what Shen Qingqiu does. Though he does expect the reveal to finally shatter that mask of niceties his beloved shizun has worn for so long. Too long.

Yet, things don't go according to plan. Without the System breathing down his neck to push Luo Binghe down into the Abyss, Shen Qingqiu tries to--

Well, he won't succeed. Luo Binghe falls, taken aback by his master's compassion. An image irreversibly seared into Bingge's mind of his shizun braced over the edge of the abyss, reaching, struggling to hold onto an unwilling damsel.

Why?

He refuses that help. Falling, falling. The abyss awaits and he's prepared this time. How can he rebuild an empire without his generals, his sword?

Above, Shen Qingqiu is distraught and all he can think to say to Liu Qingge and the others who soon arrive is "He fell." Unable to fully process what had just happened-- and it wasn't even... To his eyes, it almost seemed like a genuine accident.

Straightforward as ever, Liu Qingge suggests that he--as in himself, no incurably poisoned Shen Qingqiu's allowed--could simply go after Binghe. If there'll even be anything left to find.

An idea that honestly might not have even occurred to him had Liu Qingge not suggested it. Of course, this meant that he wouldn't for even a moment allow his dear shidi to go on his own! That was his disciple! (And his dedicated meridian clearer!)

So what if he was poisoned? He also happened to be the most knowledgeable about the Endless Abyss!

TLDR: though it takes much longer than anticipated, both to find a reliable way in/out of the Endless Abyss and to find Binghe at all...

They manage.

Yet, after stewing for so long on that image of Shen Qingqiu trying to save him--unable to rid himself of that obsessive sentiment no matter how he tried... Something Breaks.

He spent a lifetime trying to please shizun, cursing him, tearing him apart... why is it only now that shizun's hands are soft? Why?

It's infuriating. He still wants to rip him limb from limb. He'd planned to. Meticulously. For the first time in over two hundred years, his eyes are hot with withheld tears. Allowing an awkward teacher-disciple hug, gripping Shizun just a little too tightly, clawed fingertips digging into his back, Binghe supposes.

If killing Shizun is no longer an option, then he'll simply have to have him.

I did a Deaf Chell Portal playthrough (no sound and no subtitles) and it totally works.

My two questions were 1) would it be plausible for Chell to survive to the end of the game? And 2) would Chell have any idea that GLaDOS even existed at all?

And the answers are 1) Yes and 2) No.

Basically, Portal is a very good game with very well designed puzzles. At no point do you need any verbal instruction from GLaDOS. All the information you need to progress is given by the actual design of the level itself. For instance, the companion cube level. I was initially worried that this level would rely very heavily on GLaDOS's dialogue. I was thinking that it probably wouldn't be obvious to Chell that she had to destroy the cube to move on and that it probably would take her some time to stumble upon the correct course of action while trying whatever she could. But no! The fact that you have to incinerate the companion cube is made very obvious. There's literally a couple of those hazard warnings on the ground in front of the incinerator that tell you to throw the cube in.

IMO it would be pretty apparent to Chell what she needed to do and how to move through the facility. She may not understand WHY but she would know what to do. Even the end of the formal testing part where she is about to be incinerated. I don't know if Chell would know if this part was purposeful or accidental but regardless, she would be able to escape. The long and short of it is at any point in the game Chell's only option is to move forward and there's only ever one way forward.

There is basically no indication of GLaDOS's existence if Chell is Deaf. Here are the clues you get:

-no other humans in the facility

-once or twice the door to a level doesn't open until she's done monologuing at you (Chell of course has no idea she's being monologued at)

-one of the scribbles in Rattmann's hideout says "She's watching you" (Chell would not be too surprised by this. The cameras and observation rooms are obvious)

That's it. That's all you get up until you open the door to GLaDOS's chamber.

And even then! Even then the conclusion she's going to draw won't be more complex than "this computer must be the thing keeping the facility running and it is currently trying to kill me".

Now the GLaDOS fight itself is probably the biggest stretch of plausibility. At first, before the neurotoxin, GLaDOS does nothing that indicates she wants to hurt you. A piece of her falls off. It's pretty obvious that you can pick it up and put it in the incinerator (again, level design) but why? Just to do something? This is the weakest moment in the whole theory. AFTER that though, the continued destruction of GLaDOS makes more sense. Chell sees the countdown timer. She sees the neurotoxin even if she doesn't know what it is and she probably feels it too. There is now one of those eyeball turrets shooting at her. It is reasonable for Chell to draw the conclusion of "this huge robot is controlling the facility" at this point. And if the robot is making things shoot at her it makes sense to destroy the robot.

So she does. And she gets spit up onto the surface with absolutely no idea that GLaDOS had spent the entire time insulting her or even that she was sentient in the first place.

Which is very funny.
