Forge Pyramid Staff

[ From The Transformers: More than Meets the Eye #5, "How Ratchet Got His Hands Back" ]

The Forge Pyramid's staff is constantly in flux. There are some full-time faculty, but most of the instructors are there on a temporary basis, and are primarily volunteers invested in the growth and education of these sparklings*. Most of these volunteers sign up for a certain length of time in which they help teach a class or assist in some other capacity, though there are bots with more restrictive schedules who only pop in for a day here and there when they can.

Additionally, bots may be called in on consultation, especially for medical reasons. Skarr -- the Medical Director for the Forge Pyramid -- is a permanent fixture, but like the rest of the Pyramid's staff, the doctors tend to fluctuate. There are some Blacksmiths that work primarily with the Forge Pyramid, and some from other colony worlds assisting temporarily. While most medics have a "home clinic", those on the hospital's payroll are required to take shifts at the other locations from time to time, so that they bolster their experience with all parts of the community.

Another reason bots find themselves working at the Forge Pyramid is as a part of community service. In certain cases, bots that find themselves on the wrong side of the law will be allowed to "do their time" by helping the community they (allegedly) harmed. Those who come to work as instructors are not differentiated from the regular volunteers, though if you know what you're looking for, there are certain... tells. Also, some will just flat-out tell the students themselves.

Though there are certain subjects the Forge Pyramid strives to cover in their "curriculum", the structure and content of the classes are largely left up to the instructors. At present, the following classes and their instructors are:

Zayne's thoughts: getting involved in gossip

Author's notes: Zayne's the type of guy to shut down rumors pretty quickly when you're involved.

Zayne instinctively steers away from negative gossip. Even as a prodigy, he was never once subjected to derogatory peer criticism.

He doesn't like being in the negative light as well. And as much as he understands the social culture of gossip, he doesn't care much for it—instead, gossip always comes to him through the nurses or other doctors, mainly from Yvonne or Dr. Grayson.

Shortly after establishing your relationship, some things obviously began to change.

Zayne's mannerisms at work remain the same, but he glances at his phone more often.

Other people had grown interested in the fact that they could see him smiling while looking at his phone. They'd also hear a quick and weak "Ding" from his device, which was new, considering he usually has his phone on vibrate mode.

His skipped lunches have also been reduced significantly; he occasionally is spotted in the hospital cafeteria, buying himself a light lunch or a healthy meal. He doesn't really sit with other workers, though. Turns out, he'd much rather eat alone in his office, and while he's at it, he likes to chat with you, knowing how little free time he has between work shifts.

Dr. Grayson, in particular, was very intrigued by the sudden change in his demeanor, knowing Zayne was one of the few people who was very, very disciplined. Zayne's change in habits didn't negatively impact the work environment. Still, being the curious fool that he (Dr. Grayson) is, whenever the opportunity arises, he'll sneak a glance at Zayne fiddling with his phone and chatting with that particular person.

It took no less than three days for gossip to spread. People began talking about who this particular person is: a small portion of the rumors say it's that other female prodigy doctor who started working recently, but most of the rumors say it was you because, according to Yvonne:

Childhood friends simply don't platonically hold hands and kiss each other on the cheek and the lips in the middle of the parking lot. and;

Zayne has no personal connection to a girl other than you.

Needless to say, you were also subject to the rumors, Which is why the nurses always sneak a glance your way whenever they come across you, yet none dare talk to you about the rumors.

It didn't take long to reach the chief surgeon's ears, and he did not need to lift a finger to know who was behind the rumor.

Zayne gave his poor colleague, Dr. Grayson, a piece of his mind.

"I don't appreciate my affairs being talked about. If you have anything you're curious about, you can ask me directly, Dr. Grayson." And although it was for a very brief conversation, Grayson swears he could feel the room literally going cold.

In less than a week, people have stopped talking and diverted their attention elsewhere— out of the safety of their lives...or the safety of Dr. Grayson.

(of course, harvey will be making another appearance, don't worry! he's just basically in dix's position in gotham canon here---very knowledgeable, very seasoned, but a bit older at this point. he's happily retired with a wife, and is distinctly spending it away from gotham XD) this fic was made with family relationships in mind, so i'm excited for when bruce finally begins to trust them a bit and starts to care about them more. (as a sneak peak for the next chapter, i'll say now that damian makes an appearance very soon!)

more middle-term, there's an arc coming up soon that is gonna be both angst and comedy gold. it includes a character who has been mentioned by name but not discussed haha. he's around for a while (meaning at least a few chapters as a very very prominent character and probably a few as more of a background character) and i know that people are probably gonna be super hype when i introduce him, especially from the time period i'm taking him from!!

finally, i have an important long-term plotline that's going to go on in the background for most of the fic. i was thinking about writing it in a bit more blatantly in about 4 chapters, but now looking at all of this written down, i think i'll shove that chapter into the next round and write something a bit more foreshadowy for now and less obvious. i don't wanna give the plot away too soon, after all! (if you try, you can probably guess the character i'm referring to here, though probably not his name...)

i'm thinking of doing a special babs chapter coming up to talk about her whole parentage thing in this ficverse, too! do you think that would be interesting to anyone? LOL

Melkor x Gothmog

A similar idea to Angbang with the master/servant dynamic, but Gothmog has a different energy compared to Mairon. He's more the quiet, stubbornly loyal, dependable warrior sort, not the sparkly deceiver and drama queen. It can also work as one-sided attraction on Gothmog's part.

It's a rare pair that has been explored in the fandom on a few occasions, either with them as spouses intended by Eru or not, and I just love the idea of two very different Ainur forming this strange but loving and respectful relationship despite everything.

Melkor x Arien

On my mind after I recently answered an ask about them. Some of you (the people reading this) may be aware of the alternate version of the story in which Melkor attempted to marry a rather unwilling Arien, a scene that's somehow interesting, dark and funny at the same time (well, if you're me at least, I just find Melkor's way of flirting hilarious). One-sided toxic attraction is always interesting to explore for me, even if the pair in question is never going to be a couple or anything in my eyes, though this could also be incorporated into some sort of Dark Queen Arien AU if one wants.

Melkor x Manwë

Brothers in the mind of Ilúvatar and aside from that two very different Valar (like with Nienna) whose dynamic is already messed up and could be even messier still if you ship them. What I personally love is that this can go both ways, be it Melkor trying to get close to Manwë to influence him and getting jealous at everyone else or Manwë taking his unrequited love for his wayward brother way too far and steering into a not-so-brotherly direction. The dead dove potential is endless.

Honorable mentions go to Melkor x Varda, a dark lord and lady of light classic that's possibly slightly hinted at in canon, and Melkor x Námo, a ship that I usually combine with Manwë x Námo and Melkor taking advantage of Námo's feelings/using them to get revenge on him.

Pls feel free to ignore this if I’m overstepping, but I’m so curious and I must ask… is the reason Jamie won’t touch a football bc of his Shitty Ass Dad? And possibly since Jamie is 14 (in the show at least) when the whole “James taking Jamie to a football game as a coverup to essentially organize the rape of his son”, and he’s only a year older in the story so that experience, if you choose to include it at all, might be really effecting him. I wonder if one of the reasons your Jamie seemingly hates football stems from that traumatic memory—because he might associate that day with football. (Again sorry if you don’t wanna elaborate right now lol)

not overstepping at all, i LOVE to talk about this fic!! and to answer this in a couple of parts, 1. yes i do plan on including that and Getting Into It when that point of the fic arises, it is a.... significant factor (though it will be included in a way where most of the stuff dealing with the assault itself will be in a specific chapter/couple of chapters and will be clearly marked in case sexual abuse is a topic anyone just Can't deal with, and i'll have summaries at the end of the chapters so that people who need to skip those parts won't miss anything), 2. yeah it was. very recent. for this version of jamie, he had an extremely rough year last year, and 3. it's not actually directly related to that, though what it IS related to happened around the same time. there is a Specific Reason and i actually got pretty deep into what's up with that in a previous ask i answered which i'll link here! it gets pretty deep into my plans with that particular arc and i'm excited to get into it :)

What would you say the hardest part about learning English is? Also, any tips for learning Russian?

I think you’ve mentioned before that English is your second language and I literally wouldn’t have known otherwise because your writings are that good, so I was just curious! (I’m trying to learn Russian myself and it’s not been too terribly difficult but,, cases really mess me up man 😭)

I'd say the hardest part of learning English depends on how far your end goal is. Third conditionals ("This would not have happened if I had not done that") are pretty hard, but you pretty much never use them in regular speech. Articles ("a", "the") are pretty hard, it takes a while for them to become intuitive, but if you practice enough, you stop having problems. Prepositions ("in", "on", "at") still mess me up, I think, but mostly I do alright. Idioms aren't hard, don't trust anyone who tells you otherwise. Fuckin' posers.

As for learning Russian, I am actually working on a project detailing our phonology, and the goal is to eventually expand it to a full nethodology. It's just that it's going very slowly because I'm currently going through a bit of a mental health crisis while working full-time. But we'll get there. I hope.

Cases are a fuck, honestly. I'd say practice helps a ton, but you probably heard fgat before. Reading and identifying cases in every sentence of what you're reading could also help a ton. It's how I teach articles in English. Gotta learn to undrstand the enemy before you can take on it yourself, is my advice.

If you have any particular questions about cases or anything else in Russian, or you need help translating something or checking something you've translated, feel free to ask me. I mean it. I wish I could be a language teacher again, I really miss it.

Just saw your post about having to block the doctor strange x reader tag, and I must agree it's become the predominant DS fic that comes up as recommended on my feed as well. There are several authors I enjoy reading in that category (although lately the overall amount of fics is overwhelming), but I only started writing them myself as my stephen x ofc fics could never gain a bit of traction. I have a theory that if I went back and changed my ofc's to reader inserts, I'd probably gain a lot more readers--but I can never bring myself to doing that as I wouldn't be true to myself as an author.

I suppose that's just a writerly woe I'm sharing with someone who might understand.���� But I'm curious; are you open to reading non-romance fics featuring original characters? I've found that tumblr can be quite snobbish towards that species of fic.

I wanted to reply to this ages ago but it requires my computer and some thinking, so I kept pushing it off again and again and again and whelp, here we are. My bad. ><

I'm the same way where being true to myself as an author is writing what I want, so I get you there. Doesn't get As Much Engagement as other tropes would, but y'know what, I can live with that. If anything, I've actually found that the fic I compromised most on (because it was for a themed exchange) is one I want to reread the least. So if anything, a lot of me writes for "do I want to reread this in the future" and that has helped me since.

It's funny since OFC romances used to be pretty popular way back when, but I guess "reader" took over that audience over the last decade because the majority of the people just wanted to insert themselves into the position instead of reading about a full-fleshed character? Honestly not sure.

Right, I keep delaying the reason I took so long to get back to you - non-romance fics with OCs. The answer, by the way, is yes. Great OCs are fantastic, but you don't tend to see many OCs outside of romance, or you only see them as side characters in another pairing's fic. They don't often have starring or co-starring roles. But I wanted to find examples with great OCs which would take time.

And now I'm taking that time. Here's some good OC-starring fics that I scoured through the tag. They're difficult to find. I had to smudge that requirement after a while. Then I gave up after I got to 2 years back in the tag.

Some of the stories that I know have very good OCs are also IronStrange, but I know that's not your cup of tea so I left it out. But I found a handful.

Keshwyn was the author that came to mind when you originally sent this ask, but I wanted to have more than one author when I wrote this. Read their series, highly recommend, top-tier OCs across the whole spectrum, with the main star being female.

This fic by LexLemon is technically PalmerStrange, but the OCs are her parents, so it's basically a delight in my eyes as Stephen's fish-out-of-water act is always funny to me.

Dragonnan writes good OCs, usually the mean sort though, the ones who hurt Stephen rather than befriend him (male and female lmao), but if you're in a whumpy mood at some point...

This isn't technically an OC, but I don't know the character from the comics, so she's an OC to me! This Stephen's new apprentice is Casey Kinmont fic by Stratagem. They just updated recently too, need to cheer them on at some point.

*sigh* Sorry love, I ran out of good OC fics that didn't have background/primary IronStrange that I could find/remember. But yeah. There's some fic/author recs.

HC Potpurri: Red Matador - THE BENCH

Writing this post was hell incarnate, that's all I'll say. I've tried to be brief, but dunno about the final result. Either way, if you're curious about anything/anyone on particular, you can always ask for more info.

The Red Matador bench is unfortunately not very united like other teams. There's the reserve keeper Juan, mostly a loner, there's the DF Laudi, always on his delusions, and then there's... Them.

Isaac, Carlos, Federico. The killer trio. Las divinas. The golden kids. The Holy Trinity. The icons. Or how they are named on their own language, "Los Bellos".

...Nah, but seriously. Although separated on RM's early days, the moment these three teamed up they became unstopabble. And while at first they were also rather unknown to the public (Even pre-FFI), soon their popularity grew so much it started to compete with those of the field players (plus the current holder of the "most popular with girls" title, Rafael). And with even the coach also starting to favour them more than the rest... Yeah.

The three seemed quite happy with this position, at least. Isaac loves attention, specially from girls, so he'll take any chance to stand out. Carlos is (secretly) cunning and he enjoys when things go his way. And as for Federico... He's just a really friendly guy. Past grudges with soccer aside, he is very happy with his new friendships and the popularity raising around, yet without any egoistical intentions. In fact, he even wants the leftover benchers to be more popular too, but without success... :(

Whenever the team has free time, Los Bellos go to conquer the world... Or at least to conquer the hearts of innocent girls around the spanish team area (?

Though, it comes to relationships between the team, they are... So and so. They are inoffensive, but its true they can feel detached from the rest, a gap that got bigger as the final Spain match was coming. Add to this some rivarly between this group and the Slingshot Jocks (Querardo, Samuel, David) and it seemed a storm was coming.

...And it did, right around the Spain vs Japan friendly match. One snarky comment was enough to light up an entire wildfire of discussions between field and bench. It got BAD. Isaac boasted too much, Carlos only added more fuel, Laudi didn't help at all nor Juan, and Fede just couldn't pick a side. The coach tried to step in, but it was futile. RM was too heated by other things already, and this added even more to the burden.

Unfortunately yes, these new cracks showing within the team were one of the things that led to the inevitable loss vs Brockenborg. At least, this was able to make everyone step back and realize their own faults. With nothing else to do, they soon all made peace and returned to their usual lives. A bittersweet ending, but at least with many new friendships and experiences formed in the way. Even after the tournament, Los Bellos still keep in contact to this day, and the three love to meet at their respective cities.

Now, as for the other two... Despite what it seems, Juan doesn't always enjoy being a loner. In fact, his sole reason for joining soccer was because he wanted to combat his social anxiety, but there's still things to improve. He never expected to become a main keeper at first, that's for sure.

At least he's not neccesarily alone. Rafael and Antonio are friendships he keeps from the Spanish Community Cup, being all representatives of Andalusia. So the DF group keeps him on mind, and he even gets invited to play when it's party time. Besides, right around the end of the Qualifications (+ Unicorn Fiasco), Juan also had managed to befriend Fede, given both came from similar situations. Even with the whole "Los Bellos" deal, Fede never left Juan aside, specially on the moments he needed support the most (Such as him straight up getting benched). It is rumored that not only these two also meet in their own nowadays, but also that Zubeldia has composed special songs just for him.

One last thing, but also unlike other FFI teams, the relationship between keepers isn't that strong. Sure, they are in good terms, but that's about it. Juan never formed a deep friendship neither with the original reserve keeper nor Fermín. Instead, it was Laudi who took that spot. Let's just say that out of the whole team, it is him who misses the expelled GK more than anything :( But hey, maybe Fer can fill that hole in his heart. Not to mention, "Sanchez" sounds familiar...

Anyone here into Vocaloid...BESIDES the Project Voltage stuff...?

I got into Vocaloid years ago and even made myself some Vocaloid personas (because I also sing, it's one of my greatest passions)! They're a lot like my favorite Vocaloids Kagamine Rin and Len...not twins, not lovers, but mirror images (they're also 14 years old just like the Kagamines...I made them when I was around that age IRL so...yeah 😅). Their color pallets are also (usually) mirrored...there aren't many examples of that in this post but I have plenty more where they ARE mirrored. I haven't drawn them in FOREVER but I HAVE made little concept models of them in Gacha Club over the years, all with different outfits (or "modules" as the different outfits are called in the Hatsune Miku Project DIVA games). These are definitely NOT all the modules I've made over the years, these are just the ones I made on Gacha Club on my PHONE in particular...I also have the app on my iPod and have made more there. Anyway, enough talking, here they are!

This is basically Append but add angel wings and a crown...they're called "Sky King" and "Sky Queen". I don't know what was going through my head when I made these a few years ago...I guess I just wanted them to fly. 😅 And they're having fun flying, that's for sure. Look at them! They're adorable!

And finally, I made this one today, without even thinking of Sky Queen and Sky King...but this one is definitely more detailed and I honestly like it better, especially with their trademark mirrored color pallets. This one is called "King of Song" and "Queen of Song", and the wings sprouted from their backs when they were singing one day. Also, the more they sing the more powerful their wings get, taking them higher and higher into the sky and letting them fly faster and farther, putting on beautiful aerial concerts as they go.

I hope you all enjoyed seeing my Vocaloid personas for the first time! I am not sharing their names because their names are basically corruptions of my real name and I don't want my real name out on the internet at all...you guys shall know me as Pika and nothing else! And also, if you like Vocaloid music...what's your favorite Vocaloid song? For me it's definitely "Remote Controller", that song is so fun and I love its energy! I also really like "Suki Kirai" (even more so now since I found a Pikachu UTAU cover of it on YouTube and it's the cutest thing ever), "Amatsu Kitsune" and "Fire Flower" though (I know, it's all old stuff and it's all Kagamine songs, but I love them so much)! Some Miku songs (other than the Project Voltage stuff) that I like are definitely "Catch the Wave" and "ODDS&ENDS", as well as "Nekomimi Switch" (that one is just cute and it was the first song I ever got a Perfect on in Project DIVA...so I'm a bit biased because of that 😅).

you've been talking to yourself out loud for the past hour now. this has got to be one of the greatest nights of your stay here in this city – just sprawled on your bed with absolutely nothing to do.

it's been awhile since you've had your own quiet time after you've started living alone, eager to be an independent adult. juggling your studies and part-time job are such a hassle and it can be annoyingly stressful trying to balance the time you put in them. as you predicted, it strained relationships you have with people around you. not to mention, it also affects your health, and self-care is thrown out the window.

you can feel your stomach starting to hurt from hunger and from all that lazing about, prompting you to stand up from your bed to get to your kitchen. as you were about to look in your fridge while planning a schedule to buy groceries in your head, a knock from outside makes you halt.

your stomach growls in protest when you decide to check who the person that interrupted your relaxation was.

what you didn't account to see was nanami kento — the good-looking man whom you share a floor with — knocking on your door this evening and randomly asking if you wanted to eat something he cooked.

talk about impeccable timing.

confused yet appreciative of the offer, you could only nod and stand there watching as he went back inside his own apartment, and returned with plates full of delicious dishes that had you almost salivating.

“w-wait, are you sure you're just going to give all these to me?”

“my date cancelled out of the blue and i'd rather quickly clean up everything i prepared so i wouldn't be reminded of this disaster once i go to sleep.”

that certainly wasn't the answer you were expecting from all that seriousness and intimidating aura he seems to possess.

caught off guard at his blunt reply — like damn you didn't need to know that much, now you felt kind of sorry for him — you continued to stare back and forth at the man and the food he was holding while you tried to utter something.

at the very least you just wished he just told you ‘yes i don't really mind’ or even just a stern yet polite ‘please accept it and we can go on our separate ways’ but no. nanami just had to tell you someone ditched him and left him alone to eat the dinner he made.

how were you supposed to simply accept the free food, knowing he's probably going to sulk around in his own room wondering why his date didn't show? nanami wouldn't do that but you didn't know better.

the urge to be more friendly and welcoming threatened to come out of you then. you knew that particular feeling of loneliness brought by being alone all too well recently. doing something nice for him in return for what he gave you wouldn't hurt anyone.

you just hope nanami wouldn't think anything ill about the sudden casualness in your behaviour towards him.

sure, you've seen each other in passing a couple of times before and even exchanged greetings and idle chat, but this interaction is definitely new territory for the both of you. heck the two of you are currently in front of one another, and you're here stuck in your thoughts conjuring up the courage to finally befriend the handsome neighbor you've been curious about ever since you moved here.

cringing internally, you suppose you have nothing to lose anyway. the worst he could do is reject your offer, making it awkward for you in the future to interact further with the man. you either go big or go home.

you see him slightly tense. biting your lip, you waited anxiously for what he'll say.

nanami as always, was wearing something sophisticated befitting a businessman (or so you thought that was his job). a white dress shirt paired with light beige suit pants and black slippers complete his whole outfit meanwhile you're just in your plain favorite oversized sweater and shorts.

you unconsciously grip the hem of your top, avoiding any eye contact with the older man. you hear him sigh, grimacing at the way it sounded. you guess being awkward with him for the rest of your life it is.

“only if you're comfortable enough to stay with me through the entire night.”

startled at his calm acceptance, you gazed back at him with more interest. though nanami wasn't looking at you anymore, you're sure you see the faintest redness on his cheeks if you squint. this makes you put on a small smile for him to see. he clears his throat and directs his attention to you again.

“you'll be alright with eating at my place?”

he asks after a few seconds. you then gave him a little noise of confirmation. a ghost of a smile can be seen in nanami's mouth but you pretend you don't notice to stop yourself from swooning. he tells you he'll return the food back to his apartment and will wait for you there.

once you were sure he was gone, you quickly ran to your bedroom and screamed with your face flat against your pillows. you can't stop the little giggles that erupt from your chest as your feet swing back and forth in the air.

you can't believe that just happened!

you're eating with nanami tonight! just you and him sitting there all alone in his apartment, spending time getting to know each other.

You stare across the room at Diluc's figure expertly working at the bar. It isn't often that he's at the tavern, but you still like to visit Angel's Share whenever you can for the possibility of seeing him. You find it ridiculous that you're behaving like this, criticizing yourself for your actions that almost border on obsessive. It was a simple crush at first which only grew the more that you saw the young tavern owner, and by now, your feelings for Diluc had grown far beyond your control.

You inwardly groan to yourself, burying your face down onto the table out of shame and embarrassment. You shouldn't be acting like this. You're an adult. You need to act appropriately, but you can't stop yourself from acting impulsively based on your desire to see Diluc.

Of course, you know what limits and boundaries you can't cross and make sure to never step out of line, respecting Diluc and his privacy. That's why this tavern is a bit special. "Damn it..." You murmur to herself, wondering if you should just give up on your feelings for Diluc entirely. He's never shown any romantic interest towards anyone ever, and you highly doubt he would show any towards you at any point in time. Sure enough, you were well acquainted with each other with you being a regular patron at his tavern, but that was all there was to your relationship.

"This sucks," you continue, scrunching your brows together.

"What does?" A familiar voice asks with cheerful curiosity, prompting you to look up. Kaeya grins at you, offering you a small wave in greeting. "You're here again, huh?"

Without even asking, Kaeya pulls out the chair across from where you're sitting and seats himself, joining you, uninvited. The knight props his elbows up onto the table. "You know, I can't help but be curious. You don't drink alcohol at all, yet you still end up coming here anyways. Why is that?"

"They offer non-alcoholic drinks here," You respond.

"And that's precisely my point. You can get most of those drinks just about anywhere else," Kaeya shoots back. "So why choose to come here to Angel's Share in particular?"

"...Do I need to have a reason?" You opt not to answer his question and instead warily ask one of your own.

Kaeya hums. "Mm, I guess not, but I have a feeling you do have a reason, and I suspect... that it has to do with a guy."

"It doesn't," You lie a bit far too hastily.

"Is that so?" The knight questions with his ever present smile, amused to see his friend acting like this. "Then, you wouldn't mind if I were to head on over to the bar and strike up a conversation with Diluc?"

You barely manage to stop yourself from outwardly reacting. "You're free to do whatever you want and talk with whomever you want. Why would I mind it?"

Kaeya casually shrugs his shoulders. "You're right, of course. Then, it should be fine if I happened to bring up to him that a certain someone has been staring at him this whole time."

Your eyes widen. "You wouldn't—"

The knight gives you a challenging smirk and rises from his seat. You watch as he starts to make his way towards the bar, and you panic. You know Kaeya is the type of guy to do just about anything so long as it'll amuse him, and the possibility of him doing what he said he would do is high. You shoot up from your seat and desperately grab Kaeya's arm to stop him from taking another step forward.

"Wait!" You exclaim before realizing that a few nearby patrons were looking at the two of you now out of curiosity. You lower your head to hide from their gazes, and they go back to doing their own thing. You peer up at your friend through your lashes. "Please, Kaeya, wait... I'll do anything you want, so please don't say anything..."

"Really?" Kaeya muses. "Anything at all?"

You nod your head, keeping your eyes to the floor while remaining a hold onto the knight's arm, afraid that he'll continue walking towards the bar to talk with Diluc if you were to let go. Kaeya stares down at you with an amused smile, and he looks over his shoulder to find Diluc's hardened gaze on him. Kaeya bites back a laugh.

Aren't you aware that Diluc has been stealing glances your way this whole time?

"Alright then. In that case..." Kaeya makes a deliberate show of leaning down to whisper into your ear, fully aware of Diluc's eyes on the both of you.

Diluc's expression doesn't show it, but he's rather irritated at how close Kaeya is towards you. You look almost uncomfortable, and Diluc is half-tempted to walk over and disrupt your conversation. He watches as Kaeya whispers something into your ear and is unable to guess as to what exactly you could be talking about. Your expression becomes confused and then relieved before nodding your head. Kaeya's smile widens, and he wraps his arms around your shoulders, the sight of it testing Diluc's patience. Kaeya leads you out of the tavern, but not before looking back over his shoulder to shoot Diluc a teasing smirk, and the tavern owner frowns.

Time continues to pass by, and for the most part, Diluc is able to busy himself with his patrons. As closing hours approach, people begin to trickle out, some drunk and some completely sober. There are only a few patrons left by the time Kaeya re-enters Angel's Share, and Diluc tries not to let his irritation towards the knight show.

Kaeya sits down at the bar, a satisfied look on his face. "You know, sticky honey roast is quite the delight, but it becomes even better when you're in the company of a good friend with them treating you to it."

"What do you want?" Diluc asks, choosing not to respond to the obvious taunt.

Kaeya chuckles. "Oh, no, don't mind me. I was just talking to myself."

"...Hmph."

Kaeya stares at Diluc with a teasing grin before opening his mouth to continue. "Hmmm, you know, they're a really sweet person," he starts. He doesn't need to specify who he's talking about for Diluc to know. "It's hard to believe they aren't in a relationship with anyone yet. Maybe I should take my chances and try picking them up for myself?"

Diluc's eyes narrow. "You..."

"I'm just saying," Kaeya chimes as he waves his hand in a dismissive manner. "Nothing's going to happen if you don't decide to act."

"I don't need you to tell me what to do."

The knight laughs, completely carefree. "Right, right... Well, I've said all that I wanted to say, so I'll be heading back now."

Diluc doesn't bother responding. He watches Kaeya get up and leave, and the moment he's gone, Diluc allows himself to heave a sigh. As annoying as it may be, Kaeya is right. Even though Diluc possesses feelings for you, and even though he suspects you to feel the same way about him, neither of you are acting upon those feelings, meaning nothing will happen between you two if you continue to keep this up. It isn't so much that he's afraid, but rather... he holds doubts as to whether or not things would work out between you.

...He supposes it's worth trying.
