Part 4: Have You Seen My Hedgehog??

It’s Tails’ turn to visit Shadow. Not because he wants to talk, but because Amy said they should probably feed him. Shadow is just sitting, tapping his fingers on the metal top of the table. He stopped trying to lift it up. It’s far too heavy for him.

His attention is directed to the opening door. He hadn’t realized how small Tails was before. Tails places a plate of food in front of him. Shadow gets a forkful of his meal “thank you..”

Tails only lets out an “mmn.” In response. He starts heading for the exit, when Shadow calls out “hey, wait. I have a question.” Tails turns around silently.

“How old are you?”

Tails is taken off guard. “Hm?”

“You look.. fairly young.”

“I’m 8.”

Shadow blinks “you’re- you’re 8???”

Tails nods “Mhm”

Shadow is shocked, almost appalled. He mutters to himself “the doctor spoke of the fox with such… astonishment, yet hostility.. like a rival.. Why is Robotnik so hellbent on destroying a child he considers a prodigy?..” he wonders. Can’t they just simply learn and grow off each other? If Tails is as gifted as Robotnik says, wouldn’t teaming up be a better option?

Shadow stares down at his plate.. now that Knuckles had mentioned it.. the red flags he was warned about are waving frantically for his attention. Tails gives him a dirty look and leaves.

As Shadow eats, he wonders why nobody has come looking for him yet. Robotnik would have surely noticed he’s missing by now..

To his surprise, Tails returns, this time looking annoyed. He frees Shadow from his cuffs “dad wants these back for his shift.” He says then mutters “can’t you just get new ones??” He quickly leaves, and presses a few buttons outside the door. The door slams shut and “PRISONER MODE: ENGAGED” can be heard throughout the treehouse. Ain’t no way this hedgehog gonna escape.

Shadow does some stretches, stiff from being in one place so long. He decides to investigate the room for an exit.

What he doesn’t know is that the cell is Sonic and Knuckles proof. That was the standards Tails had built it to in order to keep the prisoner IN. Originally it was meant for Robotnik, or a fun game of Cops N Robbers.

These new people are certainly interesting.. two of four treated him with kindness. Even Sonic, the guy he was supposed to destroy. Sonic didn’t seem to have any feelings of anger towards him. Not that he’s showing, Anyway. Shadow takes Knuckles’ warnings into consideration. Amy and Tails bring only questions. Amy was not mentioned by Robotnik, and Tails is much younger than he expected him to be, and he is not comfortable fighting a literal child.

Meanwhile, Robotnik is trying to pinpoint where the heck his hedgehog went. He is this close to putting up MISSING flyers. He’s been both on his computer and pacing by the door. He shouts in anger “WHERE IS HE?? He should be back by now. I can’t go over there myself…” idea! “STONE!! get in your disguise. I have a mission for you.”

The doorbell of the Wachowski house rings around noon. Maddie answers. In the door stands a man dressed in a G.U.N. uniform. She begins to shut the door, when the man stops her “ma’am I would just like to speak with you about recent accusations against your…son.” Stone can’t believe the blue blur got himself adopted.

Maddie glares at him “I’m not going to speak with you, nor is anyone else in this house until we have our lawyer here.” She slams the door shut. Stone sighs. This is gonna be harder than he thought.

He looks around the yard and spots the treehouse. He scans it, but the readings come back as a normal treehouse. Stone checks it out anyway, because he is aware of the little genius that resides in the household. As he gets closer, he notices some security measures. There’s security cameras, a lock pad, a ring doorbell, and even a sign that says NO ADULTS ALLOWED.

He sends all data to Robotnik for further inspection. Something is off about this little treehouse.

Sonic is hiding. He’s very good at hiding. He takes a picture of Stone’s face. He adds the photo of his list of people to avoid.

He shows his brothers, parents, and Amy the picture. They all have the same feeling of deja vu like they’ve seen him before.

Robotnik is not very happy with Stone’s initial update. Then he receives the data. As he digs deeper and deeper, he discovers there much more to this treehouse than meets the eye. Whoever built it took good care to hide as much secrets as possible, and Robotnik wants to upturn every stone. As much as he would love to go there himself, he doesn’t want to run the risk of another 3 vs 1 situation. Stones not a fighter.. that he knows of.

Stone gets a motel in Green Hills. It’s been decided they’ll wait another day for any new sign.

Shadow receives his dinner from Sonic in the evening. Tails has refused this time. He places Shadows food on the table. Shadow hardly acknowledges Sonics existence, as he is ping ponging around the room. Sonic has done this himself to test the strength of the walls, but actually getting to witness it is quite neat! And a little freaky with how fast Shadow is going.

“Hey! Dude! Calm down, dinners ready.” Sonic says, hands on his hips. Shadow stops, looks at Sonic, and goes to his table to eat. “Why are you giving me the silent treatment?” Sonic asks, a little sad.

“I have nothing to say.” Shadow responds “you’ve trapped me in a dark metal box with no escape. Why do you have this thing here anyway?”

“Oh! It was originally built just in case Eggman is still alive and shows his bald head and freaky moustache around here again. Just to hold him until we get someone to get him.”

“..Eggman?”

“Eggman is what I call Robotnik.

Shadow wonders for a moment.. then tries to hide a small amused grin “..he does look like an egg.”

Sonic laughs and lets Shadow finish his meal. He then remembers “oh right! There was this guy snooping around our yard. You don’t happen to recognize him do you?” Sonic shows Shadow the photo he took. Shadows eyes widen “..that’s Dr. Stone. He’s Egg-…Robotniks assistant.”

Silence. Sonics heart has dropped. Shadow sighs “you should let me go. But if you want to die at the hands of brilliance, you be my guest.”

Sonic stands up “I’ll talk to the others..” he leaves Shadow to finish his meal and drink. Shadow balls up in the corner of the room to take a nap.

Sonic finds the others and gathers them in the living room.

“Everyone, we need to have a talk. Remember that guy that came by today? I showed a picture of him to Shadow, and he says that the man is Dr. Stone, which means Robuttnik is trying to find him. He wants to know if we can let him go, to spare us whatever Eggmans got coming. I.. I wanted to know what the rest of you think.” The others think on Sonics words.

On one hand, if they let Shadow go, he could lead Robotnik back or, because he knows where they are, tell Robotnik about any secrets.

On the other, if they don’t fork the hog over, someone’s gonna get hurt.

Ultimately they decide to let Shadow go.

Shadow and Sonic race back to San Francisco.

They make it there at the same time. Sonic cheers “I win!” Shadow scowls “no you didn’t, hedgehog. I won.”

Sonic sticks his tongue out childishly “nuh uh!” Shadow rolls his eyes back playfully “yeah huh!” And suddenly he freezes.

. . .

“Maria! You ate my chips!”

“Nuh uh!”

“Yeah huh!”

“You literally have the bag in your hand.”

“I didn’t see your name on the bag, Shadow!”

“Fine then. I’m eating your cookies.”

“NOOOO-“

. . .

Shadow comes back to present time to Sonic waving his hand in front of his face “hellooooo? Shadow, you there? Earth to Shaaaadz”

“Don’t call me that.”

“Oh you’re back! What was that, dude?”

Shadow avoids eye contact. Frankly, he doesn’t know what that was. But.. it gave him a warm fuzzy feeling of familiarity. Whoever this Maria was, she was important to him.

“None of your business… and next time, I’m beating you. Til we meet again, Sonic the Hedgehog.” Shadow turns his back and starts to walk away.

Sonic waves “bye Shadoooow!” And off he zooms to get home.

shadow looked at the snowy forest he was now in.

its been hard but now he finally convinced vanilla to let him go so he could return to the surface.

he kinda felt bad for leaving her but he did’t belong there with her.

and so he walked by the path that was in front of him.

as he kept walking he could’t get off him the feeling that he was being watched.

he encountered a branch that was too heavy for him to lift it at this point so he ignored it.

*crunch*.

he turned around to see that the branch was destroyed without much effort.

well...this was is cue to run.

and with that he parted at high speed as he felt someone getting close,he reached a bridge which looked like it had bars to stop someone from passing but they leaved a wide open space to run through.

just as he was about to cross it,the person who was pursuing him appeared in his back,he was now nervous.

“hey,don’t you know how rude you were running away from me?”.he spoke.

“turn around and shake my hand like two normal people would”.he said in a voice that was slightly scary.

shadow nervously turned around and shake this strangers hand...and received a shock from a joy buzzer.

this scared shadow because of how nervous he was and make him jump a bit.

the person(who now he could identify as an hedgehog) laughed.

“this joy buzzer thing never gets hold!”.he tried to say between is laughter

shadow looked at him annoyed.

his appearance was that of a blue hedgehog with green eyes,tan skin,a black nose,messy quills,etc.

he was wearing a blue T-shirt,black cargo pants and limiter rings just like him(he was wearing also the same bracelets that he wears on his wrist and ankles which were covered along with the limiter rings by sports tape),he was also wearing a brown scarf.

he finally stopped laughing.

“hi pal,how are you...wow,you look kinda like me”.he said.

shadow did looked somewhat similar to this blue hedgehog,not enough for people to mistake them for the the other but enough to make it seem like shadow and this hedgehog were related or something.

“anyways,i’m sonic.sonic the hedgehog”.he introduced himself.

“i’m actually supposed to capture beings like you for their ‘chaos souls’ but...i don’t care about capturing anybody”.this kinda make shadow feel better.

“now my son tails...he’s a hunting FANATIC”.this kinda make shadow a little nervous.

“actually i think that’s him over there”.he watched at the distance as a orange fox with two tails was coming close.

“i have an idea,pass this gate,my bro make the bars too wide to stop anyone”.shadow and sonic passed through the gate and encountered a post and conveniently shaped pine tree.

“quick,hide behind the conveniently shaped pine tree”.shadow did just that

then tails came.

he was smaller than sonic,he had withe fur instead of skin,was wearing sports tape like sonic,he was wearing a brown work belt with a strap on his shoulder and in his belt he had a buckle with a two tails symbol,he also had brown goggles,he was also wearing an orange shirt with black pants similar to sonic.

“sup son”.sonic said casually.

“DON’T ‘SUP SON’ ME SONIC”.the young fox said in fury.

“YOU STILL HAVEN’T RE-CALIBRATED YOUR PUZZLES,YOU JUST HANG AROUND YOUR STATION,WHAT ARE YOU DOING RIGHT NOW!?”.the fox keep yelling at his brother.

“staring at this pine tree,its kinda fun,do you wanna look?”.this angered shadow.

“I DON’T HAVE TIME FOR THAT,I NEED TO WATCH FOR SOMEONE WITH A ‘CHAOS SOUL’ TO CATCH IT”.tails still yelled,he must had good lungs.

“I MUST BE READY”.

“I MUST BE ABLE TO CAPTURE A SOUL”.

“THEN PEOPLE WILL FINALLY RESPECT ME”.yup,really good lungs

“then i finally be able to join the royal guard”.he stopped yelling,for once

“people will want to be my friend”.he said in a happy tone

“hmmm...maybe this lamp will help you”.sonic spoke again.

“SONIC! YOU ARE NOT HELPING! YOU LAZY-HOG”.back to yelling.

“...what happened to you? before you where somewhat lazy but not to the extent of this”.he said in a sad tone.

“hey,i had a lot of work today...and i did it all in a sonic-second”.

a drum roll sounded in the distance as sonic winked at the reader.

shadow cringed at the terrible joke that come out of sonic’s mouth.

it appears he was’t the only one.

“SONIC!!!!”.tails reacted in anger to sonic’s terrible joke but had an smile on his face.

“come on,you are smiling

“I KNOW THAT,AND I HATE EVERY SECOND OF IT!!!!”.there was tail’s response.

“...why is it so hard for me to get some recognition?”.the fox was sad now.

“don’t worry tails,you will... outfox them all”.cue another drum roll and sonic giving a thumbs up to the reader.

tails groaned and prepared to leave.

“i’m gonna go to my puzzles,put more...speed to your work”.

he proceeded to march away laughing.

“...okay kiddo you can come out”.shadow did just that.

“you better get going,he may come back,and if he does...you’ll have to sit through more of my hilarious jokes”.as he said that he winked at shadow.

shadow tried to leave immediately,but was stopped by sonic.

“actually,hate to bother ya,but can you do me a favor?”.

shadow turned around.

“i was thinking...my son is kinda down lately”.

“he never saw someone with a chaos soul before and seeing you may make him happy”.

“don’t worry,he’s not dangerous regardless of how much he tries”.

“thanks a billion,i’ll be up ahead”.he proceeded to go to the opposite direction while doing a two finger salute.

I'm on the edge of my seat wondering how they're gonna balance out the screentime between Sonic's brotherhood with Tails and his rivalry with Knuckles, not to mention his continuing relationship with his parents

OH MAN SAME HERE ????? With Tom and Maddie gone to the wedding, and based on various context clues, my theory is the movie will focus a lot on Tom learning to trust that Sonic will do the right thing with his best intentions, and maybe how to give him the space to learn from his mistakes and grow?? I feel that Maddie will be pretty well versed in this, even with her not being the one to go through the majority of the first movie with the blue blur, which I think is a contrast they’d want to go for intentionally. My guess is their relationship will be most emphasized in the first 10-15 minutes, when Sonic meets back up with them in Hawaii, and when stuff goes down at Green Hills in the final act (along with epilogue-ish fluff ofc!!!!!).

Him and Knuckles’ relationship has been UNDENIABLY emphasized with the interviews we’ve gotten from the director so far, and I’m excited as HELL. My take for this one and their screen time might be a mixed back for Tails fans, but I’m working with what I’ve got currently and I have my own side theories that I can elaborate on in a different post if promoted. We’ll obviously get when they meet for the first time (before Sonic meets Tails, so probably somewhere around the 20 minute mark at most idk) at Sonic’s house, with their next run-in probably being a while after he teams up with Tails (I feel that Robotnik is gonna keep using Knuckles’ presence like an UNO reverse card whenever he’s close enough to being thwarted, he is usually treated like a distraction when on his side after all), and THEN here’s my incredibly huge reach: Sonic and Knuckles get a one-on-one focus dynamic-wise without Tails when they’re at the supposed Labyrinth-zone inspired area, along with Knuckles’ inevitable betrayal by Robotnik. I can’t back up why Tails wouldn’t be there yet, but it’s no secret that so far he’s been seemingly absent from all of the surrounding scenes’ context (the close-up of a perhaps emotional Sonic running, him standing across from the altar, and him navigating the Labyrinth obstacles). Eventually, they regroup with Tails for that fight at Green Hills as a trio (there is TOTALLY a lot that will go down in between then and maybe even after that point though). My firm belief is that, while Tails will stay with Sonic and most likely become a part of his family, Knuckles will go back to a different planet through a ring (maybe he didn’t have rings before and Sonic gives him some?), with a heartfelt goodbye between him and Sonic.

SO just fill Tails into all the in-betweens of my previous story beat theories for now lol !! Sonic will definitely meet him like. the morning After the Robotnik/Knuckles ambush. Idk when the Tornado stuff will come in especially since?? the lines of dialogue that came with the first tornado scene in the trailer felt spliced and thrown in there?? so my guess is the “name’s Tails!” context can potentially be VERY DIFFERENT and Not in the know of what we have right now. Which....honestly goes for Most Tails stuff tbh (I hope that we get a plethora of new story details on him on the 19th!!! he needs it!!!) BUT we obviously have the moments surrounding their winter location escapades, and I believe that part of the movie will be VERY Sonic & Tails dynamic centric!! There will obviously be how they get there, the scene where they dress up in winter clothing to some sort of bar, AND the scene where Tails calls for Sonic (look closely enough at the shot of Robotnik in the same location and they appear to be in some sort of ice cave, judging by the icicles above him! you may also spot some snow in these shots based on my memory?). There’s also when they reach Hawaii to Tom and Maddie which Tails will DEFINITELY be involved in. And then, again, he’ll be roped up in the Team Sonic fight closer to the end and a cute little epilogue scene where he’s with the Wachowskis now :]

Piecing this all together, I think they can hit a fairly reasonable balance between all the character dynamics and their arcs! At most I might be concerned that Tails won’t have a strong arc of his own, with him getting roped in with all the action happening with Sonic and everyone around him, BUT I get a strong feeling that assumption won’t last long after we find out more in relation to him and FINALLY why he’s on Earth after two years of wondering!

Hey there~ it's me again. I read one of your sonamy future prompts ( featuring their children ) They all have wonderful names, but how did you come up with those names? As for me I always second guess myself when it comes to these things 😅

My sonamy fan children~

Journey (Youngest of 4, Power: Loud sonic boom cries.) was stolen (I literally saw someone’s art and saw the name and was like-)

That’s brilliant!!!

Her power though was original, and Sonic’s favorite thing about her is that she calls Amy “Chili-mama” Cause Sonic tried to get her first word to be Chilidog and Amy kept trying to teach her to say ‘mama’. The beautiful combination of that made her what she is, a bit of a silly but innocent baby. She gets kidnapped by Eggman when he remembers his life in a retirement home and smirks saying, “Bingo..” - “But Mr. Robotnik, you don’t have bingo.” - “Oh, trust me, my dear. I do~” and learns that Sonic has a family. But his metal-cyber brain takes over again and Sonic’s forced to remove it, leaving Eggman a old man with no memory but Sonic visits him as he nears the last stages of aging...

Journey has sonic boom cries based on the idea that her voice can travel passed the speed of sound, creating a ‘Hyper Voice’ effect. I also headcanon this makes her ideal for speaking super fast. She’s also magenta. (Again, following Genetic chart posts 1(x) 2(x))

But Speed, Freedom, and Rebel I made up entirely. Speed because all male hedgehogs in the Sonic universe starts with an ‘S’ so their video games would line up together on the game shelf. (True story from the officials) So I went with Speed thinking -from my genetics chart- At least one child may get super speed. 

Speed is born without Sonic present, who is still fighting Eggman and keeps his marriage to Amy secret. Speed grows up at first admiring Sonic but later resenting him, becoming a mama’s boy and training under Shadow. He has the potential to learn Chaos Control but can’t master it yet, because Shadow is immortal, he grows very close to Speed, as though like a master to student relationship but Speed wants it to be more. He tries to convince Shadow to woo his mother into leaving Sonic, but Sonic comes back just in time before Speed proposes the idea to Amy. Amy is faithful, obviously, and wants Speed to accept his father. Sonic is getting old and after putting Eggman in the home, decides it’s about time to get things right with his family. He hates being a stay-at-home dad but Amy works and he hasn’t found a job yet.

He trains Speed who can summon a Baki-Baki (Japanese sound effect for thumping something, hitting) Stick which is like a fighting stick/bow staff which is reminiscent of Amy’s Piko-Piko (Japanese Toy hammer sound when hit.) Hammer. He’s also light blue, like a turquoise.

He ends up taking over his father’s place as the world’s hero much later down in his character arc. Speed is also a romantic like Amy, he plays in a band (guitar, like Sonic’s underground years) and can’t help but fall in love with any girl he sees. Until he meets Sandy... of course~ (She’s based on Sandy from Greece, and is a cute guinea pig~<3 He’s a lot of girlfriends before this point, or at least a billion crushes.)

Freedom is based on Sonic’s brother’s green quills and how that could run in the family of Blue-Green genetics. so Freedom is a light green who loves race cars and works as an apprentice at TwinTail Industries owned by Tails. He helps Tails, even being so young as he is, the third youngest, to test-run his experiments or help learn about the “Inventions of the future!” He longs to be a racecar driver, like Sonic’s Racing years. 

He can manipulate wind, and this allows him to hover and fly even. (Maybe the start of Silver’s line? If I wanted to think more into that lol)

Rebel is much like her father in that she’s solitary, a little boy chases her around and is a gentleman to her at school and she doesn’t know how to think of it. She’s a darkish purple? And she can summon any weapon she can think of (Reminiscent of Amy’s power). She longs to be a hero too, but is more a punk attitude mixed with Amy’s Rascal side and ends up getting into “righteous mischief” where she does something good but people only see the consequences and bad results.

Amy tells her love stories which she pretends to hate but is actually quite interested if Amy includes adventure in the mix. She wonders how her father fell for Amy, but Sonic ends up telling her the story and it’s a super cute bonding moment! (She’s second to oldest in this timeline AU.)

Moving off of this ‘Future Sonamy’ timeline AU is Sonic and the Chaos Kingdom’s kid. (x)Fanfic, (x)Wattpad, (x)DA, (x)Archive. He also has his own bonus story of wooing Maria!

Skid, wearing a ‘flower crown’ cause he a soft boy~<3

Skid is a ‘sensitive’ boy, as in, he’s quite girlie. He loves girls and wants to marry them all to protect them cause he doesn’t think other boys will treat them right like he would. He’s a pacifist, due the prophecy on him as being the Prince to Bring Peace, and falls madly in love with Banished Prince Shadow’s illegitimate daughter, Maria.

He has the power to drift and is a light sky-blue hedgehog with a punk attitude towards his father, but a sweet boy demeanor to his mother.

Lastly, this Sonamy Children timeline is a darker one. One where Sonic has to go through a portal and may never return, to an alternate dimension where other versions of his friends are too to defeat Eggman who found his other-dimensional self was pathetic and defeated him, overwhelming the other Sonic Team. Sonic in that world has long since vanished, and he feels he has to go save that world.

To prove to Amy he isn’t returning, he elopes with her and gives her the last thing she’s ever wanted from him, but then leaves.

Not necessarily a love-child, Destiny Rose grows up not knowing why she has such a strong sense of justice and the need to fight against tyranny. Finally, Amy, on her sick bed, admits that when Sonic left, he gave her Destiny, and that Amy still believes he’ll one day return. (Although, she did marry a soldier, but he died in another war.)

Destiny also learns she has a brother, but is half a cyberman since the other dimensional Eggman escaped to this world. Little do they know that Sonic has actually returned... and meets Destiny, hearing about her brother and going to free him together.

They defeat this Eggman and the two Eggman's swap, but Sonic admits he was always faithful to his world’s Amy, not the other one. He sees Amy is bedridden and falls at her bedside, letting her know it’s not a dream and that their son is also safe.

The Son is half Cybernetic but is named Sonar, for his expert hearing and senses, he can’t be sneaked up on and can locate things really easily. He also has robot abilities! Haha.

That’s kinda a ‘apocalypse’ AU, lol

My last fan children are based on the idea that Eggman DNA spliced Shadow, Silver, and Sonic’s DNA into three children, who then all attach to Amy who helps them get rid of their (Rowdy Ruff Boys syndrome) bad behaviors and turns them to the light.

Shadow, Silver, and Sonic have to accept these new genetic hedgehogs: Boom (Sonic’s boy), Shade (Shadow’s Girl), and Sterling (Silver’s boy).

Amy protects the kids and teaches the ‘fathers’ how to accept and learn to love their new children.

That’s about all I can think of for them ^^ The other children I’ve created were at random for different stories. ~<3 Enjoy my headcanons!

Tails ‘n I have been cleaning up the last of Egghead’s robots left over from the war, and have been helping rebuild where we can. We’ve also been trying to track the guy but haven’t found a trace of him yet, so we’re guessing he’s gone off the grid. ❞ 

[”Mmm. I see. It’s been like that here too, you know. The island’s been looking much better since the war ended. Everyone’s looking forward to you coming back.”]

❝ Heh- that’s good t’ hear! You can tell Mr. Lenning I’m ready for more raspberry turnovers, then. ❞

[”Ha ha! I’ll let him know but I can’t promise he’ll be eager for you to clean out his bakery when you get here.”]

[”He likely feels this is the best he can do for you right now. And himself. Maybe that’s true, Sonic. Have you thought about the fact that maybe you two need a break from eachother ?”]

Don’t you think, after everything that you’ve done for him, maybe death has become a little less appealing?”]

[”And Sonic, to me it sounds like it’s not just you, either. I’m sure being around all those people you mentioned on that camping trip has also contributed to it. Surrounding yourself with supportive people who lift you up is one of the first steps one can take away from the edge.”]

❝ ---Then he shouldn’t’ve left, right ?! ❞

❝ He’s gonna be all alone up in White Acropolis, Ma’! Wouldn’t it be better if he just- stayed around? There’s nobody there t’ keep an eye on him! Nobody there t’ stop him if he tries- ❞

❝ ...‘M sorry,, I just, I can’t see how this does him any good. Breaks are important, I know, but- but it’s still so risky. Even for my standards. ❞

[”It is risky, Sonic. I’m aware. And I can’t tell you that he’ll be okay. I wish that I could, I wish I could put your heart at ease. But what it all comes down to is the difference you alone can make. It’s unfortunate that he left, but you need to have faith in him, and in you.”]

(sniffles)

[”Be patient. You can’t expect a broken limb to heal over night, can you? Sure, you can preform surgery on it and set it and cast it and treat it all you want, but if you don’t allow it to rest, then how will it ever improve?”]

[”Everyone moves at their own pace, kiddo. And you just so happen to move at a pace much faster than everyone else, so it’s no wonder this is harder for you to relate”]

[sighs]

[”He reads your text messages, right?”]

❝ Yeah... ❞

[”Then send him something once a day. Don’t press him to respond. Don’t try to get him to engage in conversation. But give him a reminder that he’s still in your thoughts. If you really do suspect he cares more than he lets on, then I think it may wind up being something he’ll look forward.”]

❝ ...That’s... way too clever, Ma’. ❞

[”Hmm.”]

❝ Y’really think that’d... be an alright thing t’ do? Shouldn’ I be givin’ him his space ? ❞

[”Well as long as you aren’t demanding him to engage in anything, I’d say one daily notification isn’t gonna hurt.”]

❝ ...Alright, ‘guess I could try that. ❞

[”Good. I don’t want Tails to call me up and tell me you’ve been giving yourself anxiety attacks stressing out over this all winter.”]

[”As for you, son. You need to give yourself a damn break too. It’s certainly admirable how far you push yourself but like I said earlier, rest is important. Enough with the helping random civilians all the time thing, okay? Go on a vacation or something, my Gaia!”]

Pt.2  A Red, Red Rose

"We have been walking for two hours now"

   Amy thought to herself, however, this came out of her mouth with thinking much. Shadow and she had been walking for way too long. The forest they were in seemed to have not ended. They had already been attacked by a giant flower, Shadow got almost got killed by drinking some pink water from a lake and there was no clear signal of any other living thing.

"Why can't you just Chaos Control us out of here?'- Shadow asked Amy already tired.

"I can't... Chaos Control works only with places I been to and places I can imagine they might look like...this is a different dimension, I have only been here two hours so I really can't imagine how a city or village around here might look like...It might be very dangerous if I try...we could end up going anywhere in the universe or dimension"-Amy said as she quickly picked up a smell. A strange one, she was quick to make a turn and walked towards that direction.

"Wait then how did you teletransported us in here? Have you been here before?"

"No, but in the video, Sonic specified the name of the dimension and place that's enough information for me to teletransport us...and you ask too many questions"

"Right"

"But hey Shadow....."- Amy faced Shadow and his heart stopped for a second. Amy was walking towards him she wasn't doing anything out of the usual but Shadow began to feel nervous for some reason.

"Carry me"

"What? I thought you didn't want to"- Shadow was a bit disappointed that Amy didn't something else from him.

"It will be dangerous if you just run around everywhere...we don't know the kind of people that live here they might be powerful...I sense a peculiar smell...I don't know what it is but it might be good"

"Alright then"- Shadow trusted Amy and was quick to pick her up. She was light and Shadow could feel her soft fur through his gloves. His face had never been as close to hers and sunlight touching her face made her even more beautiful. Shadow just stood there for a second, just admiring her.

       Amy noticed this and was honestly wondering what was going through his head.

"Shadow...can we go already?"

"Ah, yes sure"- Shadow then took up to the direction Amy pointed it took around 10 minutes and they were quick to get out of the forest and they soon found a village. Shadow put Amy down and was quick to miss her warmness in his hands, he didn't think about it too much and Amy spoke to him.

"Shadow is anything happens, take my Chaos Emerald and you run away"

"Yeah that's not happening"-Shadow walked past Amy, trying to look cool. There were small colorful teepee tents all around, also other small houses made out of wood and as soon as Amy and Shadow came, everyone looked at them.

"They are...hedgehogs!"

"They most are of royal blood"

"What would they want with us?"

   Amy could hear everyone else talking with her sensitive hearing. Then, Amy's thoughts were interrupted by an old cat with many wrinkles and blue clothes approached them.

"I am Tiberius chief of the Kush Tribe...how may I help you both?"- The old cat says.

"We are just looking for a place to sleep"- Amy was quick to step in front of Shadow. In any case that something went wrong she can still protect them.

"May I ask...are you from the Royal family?"- Tiberius had a sudden dark change of voice

"No, we are not"- Shadow quickly said.

"In that case....You are more than welcome! Sorry to scare you, but not many of us are on good terms with the Royal Family of Titiana...Also that it's very weird to see hedgehogs...The whole Royal Family is from of the only living hedgehog species in here....may I ask where are you two from?"-Tiberius guided Amy and Shadow through his village showing each of his people around

"We are...from another dimension..."- Amy said a bit hesitant. She didn't know still if he could be trusted but he was giving strangers a place to sleep, it was the least she could do.

"Ah! Just like that blue hedgehog and yellow fox!"

"You know Sonic and Tails?! They were here?!"- Amy asked and Shadow saw how bright her eyes were in the mention of the blue bur...something that made Shadow a bit annoyed.

"Not here but in a nearby enemy village...they saw the blue hedgehog and they were quick to call the Royal Army...and the word soon spread"

"They... are being held captive?"

"Most likely"

   Amy changed her expression quickly. She was extremely worried they could be doing anything to them right now and she can't do anything at the moment. Tiberius noticed the pink hedgehogs situation and wanted to change the topic.

"They will be preparing your tepee soon...you both are together right?"- Tiberius said in a teasing voice.

"What? No, we are not"- Amy tried to keep her cool and Shadow felt his mood go down as Amy was fast to cut him off.

"Then why does your friend here loves you so much?"- Tiberius looked at Shadow and he closed his eyes and kept his cool even though on the inside he felt his heart run faster than him.

"No, I don't"- Shadow said with his deep voice.

"With all of my years, I could swear you feel something for her... on well...I may be just old...I'll prepare two tepees then"-Tiberius then walked off leaving a very baffled Amy and a very flustered Shadow behind.

    It was already late night and all villagers gather together on the big bonfire in order to eat together and thank all their gods for the food provided. Female villagers gave Amy some new clothes which deep down Shadow thought were very fitting for her figure and it made him harder to think. Kids in the village where as well surprised with Shadow as they used natural paint on him to decorate his body. Amy thought it was cute to see him so comfortable around children. She never thought he will be one to like them.

"Can I ask what do the symbols mean?"- Amy asked Zetian, Tiberius wife who was helping her all along with her clothes and showing her the village.

"Fertility my dear. We know the men is the one in charge of putting the children in you...the number of drawings the kids paint on him, will equal the kids you will have"- Zetian smiled to her and Amy was more perplexed.

"Wait what...but we are not...together"- Amy stated.

"Uh? But Tiberius told me that you both wanted to get married here...don't be shy! We are always up for weddings!"

   * That old man!!!!*

Nothing much happened after that. Amy and Shadow were both being celebrated for getting married. They even exchanged they golden wrist bracelets. They had dancers and food and even though Amy and Shadow wanted to enjoy the night, they had other things in mind.

"So I was aking around the other villagers. and they have told me the reason they consider the Royal Family an Enemy"- Shadow began and this caught Amy's thought immediately. Therefore, Shadow continued...

"After Emperor Nero, husband of Empresses Titiana passed away, she wanted to govern the entire world by taking down Emperor Cyrus of the Byzantine Empire...and she did in the most horrifying way...killing innocent children, burning down villages...many loved ones of the Kush Tribe were killed during battle...Not only that but Titiana has very peculiar likes, she picks random girls to give to their sons as objects to treat them worst than trash...Amy, we need to be careful once we leave tomorrow morning"- Shadow added he was worried for Amy's safety and didn't want anything to happen to her.

"Nothing will happen to me Shadow...I promise you that I will get us out of here and I will defeat Titiana"- Shadow looked at Amy's eyes and he saw so much determination. He can't believe he got married to her just today...even if for her it didn't mean much, for him just that brought him a sense of happiness.

"But Amy..."- Shadow began but once again if he got cut off my Amy.

"And I promise you...that I will find you a better wife"- Amy said smiling so Shadow could calm down a little and light up the mood. Something ins Shadow woke up his heart wasn't racing but it felt warm, Shadow didn't want to know what he was doing but he reached and hold Amy's hands. Amy was surprised by his actions and looked up to Shadow.

"Tiberius said that I was in love with you and I honestly said no...but Amy...I think I don't longer have a crush on you...I wholeheartedly like you, Amy Rose"

That day Shadow The Hedgehog decided to chase Amy until the end of his days

His love was new, fresh and young just like a red rose that sprung in June, like a melody that is sweetly played in tune. So deeply in love he was that he will chase after her until the seas goes dry and the rocks melt by the sun. He will go after her again and again. .

So, I just finished up my Forces AU. Here’s the entire cast:

Heroes:

Sonic the Hedgehog: Takes after his games self, is the wildcard and ‘The Hero’ of the Resistance. Best friends with Miles ‘Tails’ Prower and Amy Rose, and good friends with Ovi and the group of fighters. Is rather polite despite living with his uncle. Loves adventure, is terrified of being restrained by anything—this includes greedy billionaire sons and bratty princesses. Tries to be friends with everyone, but people like Antoine can get on his nerves. Descendant of Soundbreaker the Blue Ancient.

Miles ‘Tails’ Prower: Takes his Adventure self, where he wants to showcase to everyone that he too, can be a hero. Is ‘The Inventing Hero’ of the group. Is shy around new people, but is a brave soul. Can get scared sometimes, but is quite brave in fighting. Tends to overexplain certain things and can accidentally spill into when cornered. Best friends with Sonic, friends with everyone else. Descendant of Twist the Yellow Ancient.

Knuckles the Echidna: Takes after his Adventures/Sonic 3 self, where he’s a goof ball that’s able to think things through, but also a bit rough around the edges. Called ‘’The Guardian’ of the group, and is the main Resistance leader out of everyone. Is more of a ‘set traps, and wait’ kind of guy, which is why his plan—“Operation Big Wave”—ends up falling through. Is intelligent enough to understand that people need to be guided in these trying times. Descendant of the Red Ancient of the Knuckles Tribe.

Amy Rose: Takes after her Adventure Self, where she decides to win Sonic on her own merits. Loves adventure and sweets, and hopes that Sonic can see her as his most prominent friend. Is ‘The Heart’ of the group. At first, she didn’t like how Sally treated Sonic, but after Sally mellows down and she realizes why Sally act the way she does, they become good friends. Best friends with Cream. Friends with Sonia and Ovi, too. Descendant of Bloom the Pink Ancient.

Jullian ‘Ovi’ Kintobor: Is a lot younger than this Fleetway/Sonic Bible counterpart. Considered ‘The Runaway’ of the group. Loves being with members of his crew, and does not realize the importance of personal space. Will recognize it with Sally, whom he has a sitcom type enemy relationship with. When not trying to co-lead with Sally, tends to get lonely and will try to hug anyone who gets near him. Has a load of gadgets that allows him to keep up with Sonic and the rest of the group. Likes anyone in the group. Descendant of Knight the Orange Ancient. Replaces the Custom Hero.

Princess Sally Acorn: Takes on a modified version of her SatAM self. Is head strong and stubborn when she can be, which clashes with Ovi and Sonic at points. Her ability to lead is second to none, which helps that she’s a princess of the Acorn Kingdom. Is ‘The Princess’ of the group. Is not fast, but carries with her an advanced AI computer called ‘Nicole’ with her everywhere. Best friends with Bunnie, friends with Sonic, Tails and Sonia, and eventually becomes friends with Amy and Ovi. Likes Lewis. Descendant of King Alluminous the Auburn Ancient.

Bunnie Rickshaw: Takes on her Archie self. Was originally not robotomized, but became able to lift 5X her weight when Ovi and Sally managed to hack the machine she was in. Is brave despite it, and while she wishes to be not robotomized, prefers her powerful capabilities. Considered ‘The Weapon’ of the group. Best friends with Sally, and has an attraction to the swordsman Antoine. Also, friends with Sonic, Amy, Tails, and Ovi, and hopes everyone gets along soon.

Antoine DePasseur: The no-nonsense swordsman of the group. Uses his portrayal in Archie. Called ‘The Swordsman’ of the group. Tends to dislike Sonic and Ovi’s plans, and is usually the one to denounce them. In truth, can get easily spooked if you try hard enough to spook him. Likes Ovi, Sally, Sonia, and Amy, despises Manic and Sonic.

Rotor Aiviq (Eye-vick): Takes his post-reboot Archie form. Called ‘The Weapons Expert’ of the group. Formerly son of the Cheftian named Tundra Aiviq, he left his father when the man demanded perfection from him. Likes Ovi and Manic, and finds Tails to be the better inventor than himself. Tends to suffer from an inferiority complex, thanks to his upbringing. Also likes Sonic, Sonia, Amy, Sally, Bunnie, and Antoine. Best Friends with Lewis. Descendant of Flow, the Purple Ancient.

Lewis Porker: Takes his StC self. Called ‘The Voice’ of the group. Tends to be the shyest of the group, staying away from people like Ovi and Sonic. Has no combat experience, but makes up for it in being the ‘eyes to the sky’ for everyone. Prefers Sally and Amy’s gentle voices over the rest o the group, and considers Rotor his best friend.

Johnny ‘The Lightfoot’ Casey: Takes his StC self. Called ‘The Frontman’ of the group. The kindest of characters behind Sonic, and bares no ill grudge against anyone. Uses a bo-staff in battle, and tends to use energy kinesis to blast away anyone. Is the oldest of the group, and the literal grandpa watching over everyone.

Techno the Canary: Takes after her StC self. Called ‘The Researcher’ of the Group. Is more closeted than either Rotor or Porker, and tends to be dismissive when working on her projects. Will hang out with Amy, Sally, and Bunnie, and finds Nicole a fascinating computer does not get along with Sonia.

Shortfuse the Squirrel: Originally ‘Shorty’, Uses a modified version of his StC self. Once a thief that tried to mug Sonic and Tails, became a ‘participant’ for the Cybernik project by Grimer and Aperis to create a robot more powerful than the current Badniks using live Animayans for batteries. Instead, he became fused with the suit, and became far more powerful thanks to them. Lashes out at everything and is cynical, and has shouting matches with Bunnie with how they treat their condition. Is ‘The Cybernik’ of the group. In a will they won’t they with Techno.

Sonia the Hedgehog: ‘The Master of Stealth’ before Espio joins, and ‘The Elegant’ after, she’s one of three wealthy people that joined the Resistance out of her own violation. While she does not like dirt or messiness, Sonia eagerly joined when she found out that she could help them fight back. Is a huge fashionista, and loves Tails and Amy to bits. Descendant of Soundbreaker the Blue Ancient.

Manic the Hedgehog: Called “The Thief”, he’s the one person that’s able to enter and exit Dr. Eggman’s bases with all the stolen loot not even Ovi can afford. Major goofball despite his appearance, and is excellent with kids. Loves Tails to bits, but finds that Amy not in love with him is sad. Annoys Antoine for the heck of it. Descendant of Soundbreaker the Blue Ancient.

Shadow the Hedgehog: The Ultimate Lifeform, partner to Rouge and E-123 Omega in GUN, and the oldest known Resistance member (Johnny’s the second oldest). The edgiest of edgy that had ever edged (just don’t tell him that. He’s not too keen on being CALLED ‘edgy’). Likes kicking people’s butts and making sure they stay down. Tries to mentor Ovi, though he wonders if he’s trying too hard on that front. Is taken out just two months before Sonic and Ovi are.

Rouge the Bat: The Spy of the group, and the best thief all around Earth (don’t say that to Manic, though). Pesters Knuckles about his position, and demands that he try to act like a better leader. Likes jewels of all kinds, but would abandon them when there are more pressing matters at stake.

Cream the Rabbit and Cheese the Chao: A young rabbit girl (and chao) who got caught in the war when trying to find her mum. Hates violence, and wants the war to end, but knows that fighting back is necessary for an edge to come through. Ends up fighting the big fight along with the rest of the group later. Friends with Amy and the girls, and good friends with the boys too.

Team Chaotix: Vector the Crocodile, Espio the Chameleon, and Charmy the Bee are the three detectives of the group, having been called in when Dr. Eggman had ended up wiping Sonic and Ovi off the face of Earth for 6 months. Vector is the brains of the group, directing everyone where they need to go; Espio is the ninja of the trio, and Charmy’s their mascot. Each one fights darn well for the circumstances. Vector tends to never leave his music behind; Espio’s a full-on ninja nerd, and Charmy’s the bratty kid.

E-123 Omega: A robot that formerly guarded Dr. Eggman’s ‘secret treasure’, before defecting to GUN because it hardly ever saw any line of work. The most no-nonsense of the group, nd the most trigger happy against anything deemed “Eggman-level threat”. Does not like his creator, Dr. Eggman.

Silver the Hedgehog: Telekinetic Hedgehog from 200 years into the future; having been brought back in time because his homes suddenly became ruinous. Wants to change it and make it right, founding the Resistance in the first place. Has a pretty tough time with Infinite and Cypress at first, eventually learns to fight back. Is not known whom he descends from, if at all.

Sticks the Badger: Uses the modified version of her Boom personality. Called ‘The Wild’, Sticks loves anything shiny and will instantly become friends with anyone who has shinies. Lives in the woods, and is highly fearful about learning anything more complicated than a calculator. Likes hanging out with the girls, and Allegro.

Perci the Bandicoot: From the Boom series, Perci is a kid from a family of bandicoots that defended Bygone Island for generations. However, the constant apathy of the villagers to her successes—to the point where it’s outright mocking—lead Perci to leave to find if she really wanted to defend her people or if they really cared. When the attack on the Kingdom of Acorn happened, she leapt up at the chance to defend it. Became fast friends with Sonia, and is called ‘The Scorned Hero’ by the group. Really likes fixing things, not necessary the builder. Descendant of Tyler the Lavender Ancient.

Lyre the Snake: A former mercenary turned hero when she found out about robotomization and the effects it can cause. While interested in the paycheck afterwards, Lyre isn’t keen on allowing injustice to occur on the planet, and will fight back if she has enough evidence. Called ‘The Turncoat’ of the group, which she objects to because ‘It’s Snake discrimination!’. Loves being loyal to people, even when they don’t trust her. Has a slight complex about her being a snake. Descendant of Lyric the Green Ancient.

Allegro the Dragon: No-one knows where this little dragoness came from, nor why she attached herself to Sonic, Sonia, and Manic. Only the medallions on their hoops can fully know for sure. In either case, Allegro gets along with everyone in the Resistance, and actually likes getting belly rubs. Called ‘The Guardian’ of the group, can become giant and protect anyone near her masters against anything that aims to harm. Makes ‘Gebwah’ noises when speaking. Will eat anything, including food that has become mouldy.

Villains:

Eggman Empire:

Dr. Eggman: The elderly man with a plan, the one who will rule the world and create Eggmanland. Grandson to Gerald Robotnik and second cousin to Maria, plans to branch off from Sypress and eventually take control. Has 300 IQ, and an obnoxious manchild with a narcissistic streak.

Aperis: A robot created by Dr. Eggman as his thesis project, and one of his most prized models. While not a fighter, Aperis is the baseline model for the Project Sonic series robots, and has been very active in making sure that they’re all obedient to the Dr. Not too keen on the more rushed out models (Badniks and the Egg Pawns), but has a soft spot for those Dr. Eggman creates by hand (E-Series, Omega too). Like his master, despises Sonic. Also despises Orbot and Cubot, but only because they were his first and second final projects for Dr. Eggman’s classes.

Orbot and Cubot: Two robots that work for Dr. Eggman. While both are the comedy duo, Orbot knows when to shut up. After Dr. Eggman reprogrammed them so that they wouldn’t snark and point out his failures, they’ve been making sure most of Dr. Eggman’s bases are spick and span and taking care of the Dr. Orbot is the straight man of the two, while Cubot is the dolt.

Egg Bosses: The dozen of high commanders under Eggman’s control, each commander commands over a specific region on Earth: northern oceans, southern oceans, North America, South America, Asia, Europe, Oceania, the Poles, Africa, the Skies, and the magical.

Metal Sonic: Dr. Eggman’s ultimate Anti-Speedster weapon, made to be able to chase after Sonic without exploding for too long. Wants to become the true Sonic, making this robot the most wildcard of Eggman’s troops. Eventually breaks off to become Sonic through his own means.

E-Series: Dr. Eggman’s elite soldiers, each one hand-crafted and engineered to command a specific type of fleet. When Sonic Heroes rolls around, the Doctor eventually scraps the project when too many of his elite turn on him. At least Aperis hasn’t turned on him yet, nor Project Sonic…

Infinite: Dr. Eggman’s newest right-hand man. A former jackal mercenary of the Jackal Squad turned robot, wants to see the world in ruin like he saw with the Phantom Ruby. Becomes overly cocky and edgy over time, thanks to his crew’s defeat at the hands of Shadow and his own defeat. It isn’t until he gets Sonic down and Ovi traumatized that Infinite becomes overly obnoxious and a bully. Tries to break free like Metal Sonic did, but fails.

Cypress: A time traveler 200 years displaced; wants to see the Eggman Empire come to fruition in it’s prime. Does not get along with Infinite, and is more level-headed than the two. Eventually must run back to her present, bringing Silver along with her. Looks oddly like Maria, even though she’s been dead for 50 years. Likes Dr. Eggman, and would do nothing more than to make him happy.

The Pack:

Sleet the Wolf: The main Bounty Hunter, and the leader of the Pack. Hates Infinite to an absurd degree, because of the brat’s sadism over competence. Cunning and sly, he’s the one holding the group together after kicking Infinite out. Nearly gets killed by Infinite for kicking him out of the pack.

Dingo the Dingo: Nobody knows where he came from, nor what’s his real name. Even the Pack themselves don’t know what he is. A ferocious beast able to take on multiple forms, seems to have some sort of connection to Ovi. Pretends to be stupid for the sake of it, wants the Phantom Ruby to revive his people.

Medjed the Jackal: Formerly part of the Jackal Squad, became the go-to tech expert when his former partners were kicked out of the mercenary group The Pack. Tends to look half asleep, in truth the best computer hacker in the world. Is usually grumpy, but wistful about Infinite.

Nichi the Coyote: A blacksmith from Japan that became a mercenary when his business was hit with hard times. A master of all types of weapons, Nichi knows the way of the sword and is callous to the point of nearly killing Sonic when he’s on his side. Not someone you’d want to cross. Usually calm unless pissed off.

Callie the Ethiopian Wolf: A young female who joined the Pack because of Sleet, whom she likes. Is excited for fighting Infnite in his new form. Likes to fight in general, and doesn’t buy that he’s—well, invincible. Likes to fight people taller than her.

Mac the Jack Russel Terrier: A tiny man who wants to snipe as many as he could get. A Former GUN agent that got fired for his excessive use of ‘shoot first, ask questions later’. Likes the sounds that a gun makes, and hopes to one day snag the Fastest Thing Alive with a gun.

Other:

GUN: The United Federation’s own command force, lead by Commander Towers. They sent Shadow, Rouge, and Omega into enemy territory earlier, before having to transport non-combatant humans and animayans away from the fighting.

King Nigel Acorn: The king of the Acorn Kingdom, and Sally’s father. Tries to fight against Eggman, only to end up in Null Space thanks to Infinite blindsiding him.

Aleena the Hedgehog: Former hero of the world, now someone the Resistance relies on for plan making. Oddly, she seems to look at Sonic, Sonia, and Manic oddly…

Slipstream the Hedgehog: Husband to Aleena, and the cockiest hedgehog in town. Seems to have the same look for Sonic, Sonia and Manic like Aleena does.

Harold Kintobor: Father to Ovi and the CEO of Knight Tech. Pays GUN, Eggman, and The Pack to find his son, accidentally giving Dr. Eggman enough funds to plan his takeover of the world.

The Phantom Ruby: A gem misplaced in space, which instantly disabled the Chaos Emeralds and the Master Emerald with it’s powers. Able to conjure reality-warping illusions, and can jump anyone within range to other locations instantly. Like the Master Emerald, there seems to be something inside it…

No, it makes sense… -scratches head and looks away- I actually um… there’s a fanfiction I’m going to do with Amy’s backstory, there’s two different backstories I have for her, but the one I’m thinking about is her Father who doesn’t approve of Sonic.

That’s not quite what you wanted though, so I think I’ll pass on that story and just do what you’ve given :)

So, in otherwords, this prompt has nothing to do with what I’m planning to do later with the two backstories, lol!

Prompt:

Amy, before Sonic, lived in a rather wealthy home. However, being the only girl, she was trained rigorously to one day marry and bear strong, intellectual sons.

Now, with being raised like that, you’d think Amy would- well, for one, hate marriage and kids, and two, scorn her life and be a rough-and-tough girl.

But she actually was very kind, gentle, and meek. She would do everything in her power to not let her anger slip, and her memories of her mother’s soft nature always inspired her to be a good house-wife, have kids of her own, but be sure to-

Now this was a big thing to her.

“Marry who I choose!” Amy stomped her foot down, as her father rotated in his chair, loomed up over her, and placed his hands behind his back.

“What?” he almost spat out.

She feared disappointing her father, and often made him, at least… somewhat pleased with her progress, but there was a moment she realized he’d never be happy with her, and so this was the day she was putting her own foot down.

“I refuse to marry someone i don’t lwove.” in her cute little girl voice, she tried to close her eyes confidently, place her hands on her hips, and stand up straight.

She felt a rush of wind and guarded with her hammer, seeing his hand had almost connected into a deadly assault.

Her eyes teared up, as she looked up at him.

“Lwove? Heh.” he removed his hand, “Excellent block, but poor footing. You think you could ever find a man who’d take you alone? Without a dowry? Without any amount of grace, pristine, or class?” he walked around her, as she felt her self-confidence in herself slowly decrease into a pebble on the sand.

“Please… As my only daughter, you will inherit nothing. I need a man whose willing to put up with you to run my business and give me and my clients a good future! You will continue your training… but you will do it under my watchful eye, my guiding assistance, and under no circumstances can you even dare have a say in these affairs! Is that clear?”

Amy squinted her eyes shut, her fists forming tight balls as she tried to not cry in front of him.

“But-”

His leg came up this time but she skillfully flipped back to dodge it, “IT’S MY LIFE!” she raised her voice, before taking off and shoving the door open, racing down the hall and jumping to her bed, hugging her stuffed toy of Sonic, her one true hero.

“Why can’t he save me!?” she cried out, pulling the stuffed toy away from her, “Why can’t you save me..”

“I’ll have to save myself!” she got up, wiping her tears, and holding Sonic out in front of her. “I’ll have to run away.”

Taking off in the dead of night, Amy ran till she met some traveling gypsies, some were friendly… some…

Were not.

“How much do you think they’d take for a little girl?”

“Oh, she’s a cute one! Definitely a good pint of gold!”

“You nit-wit, don’t count your money like your drinks!”

The men laughed, as Amy shivered, afraid, not used to battling anyone that wasn’t trained to let her win.

She remembered the words of her father, and wondered if all she was good for in this world was simply just money…

The world seemed to rotate on money… but then.

“Snakes and slithering beasts have better tastes than you three!” A woman, hobbling with a long purple, decorative cloak on came out, her nose long but the only thing that revealed the woman could have a face.

Her hair was also seen, completely covering whatever the hoody didn’t cover, as her long nails reached out to the girl, then swiped them away and turned to the men. “I’ll raise her as my assistant. I need a good cleaner…” she grabbed her by the arm and dragged her over to her hut, up on top of a wagon.

Amy was treated kindly, and even learned a lot from the fortune teller, who read her many beautiful things about her future.

“…That doll you have there… where have I seen that face before?”

Amy held up her doll of Sonic, though it was barely being held together anymore. “He’s my hero.”

“A hero..? Hmm…” She took the doll.

“Hey!”

“Now, now… don’t you want a love spell?” she held up a finger, offering her a great deal. “I do know voodoo, you know…heh-heh…”

“No!”

She was amazed by her response, raising her hunch up to show how long her neck actually went. “No? What kind of ungrateful child says no to a perfect love spell!?”

“The kind that… that believes she can have a man fall in love with her without one!” she wasn’t certain of that, but she pulled the doll back into her arms, and said it with only a little restraint.

She hugged the doll close, as the woman seemed to be fond of what she had said.

“Child.. then I shall put a spell… on you.” she rotated her hand over her crystal ball and poured some magic potion over it. “Hobble-de-gobble. Meser-Heser-luu… You shall be irresistible to all eyes, and all eyes… be on you!” she blew some smoke into Amy’s eyes, as she waved it away.

“There… now when you fall in love, the man will be crazy not to love you too!” she laughed, “But it will be his choice, nonetheless, whether he resists the enchantment or not.” she leaned back, shrugging and turning her head away, showing she was still going to give Amy her wish.

And respect it.

Amy nodded, smiling, before taking the tarot cards the woman offered her and heading to the tarp’s flaps, where the exit was.

“And where are you going?” the woman sounded like she genuinely was surprised to see the girl attempting to leave. “There is a world of strife, painful longings, and great sacrifices out there!” she clung to her chest, to show more effect in her words as she described it.

“But like you said,” Amy grinned, finding courage. “If I want to fall in love, I can! But I can’t do that with traveling gyspies!” Amy jumped off the racketing, moving wagon.

“You’d have better luck traveling around and meeting many fine men…” the woman hacked a raspy laugh, but nodded that the girl was smart in leaving. “Fair thee well. Let weather be clear, and skies obey my chant. Birds flutter, let her soar. Lizards crawl, but let her stand. May the wind cease it’s harsh cold and turn warm upon her shoulders. And for all the glories of the flowers, let her petals never loose their vibrant glow. Ha-choo!” she sneezed on the end, and rubbed her long nose. “Eh, whatever. She’ll be fine. Not like she actually believed any of my hocus pocus, heh-heh-heh.” she laughed.

Amy, completely believing in the hocus pocus, ran under a tree and performed the ‘magic’ tarot card selection.

As if the fates had her in their sights, the wind blew at just the right time, and the only card flipped over was the one she wasn’t going to reach for…

it said.. Destined.

Leaving the doll behind with the tarot cards, she climbed the chains to the Little Planet, where the public television had stated Sonic and Eggman were at.

She hit away scary robots, though was thankful they were small enough that she felt she could, and finally met up with her hero.

Years later, she took a deep breath in front of the doors of her father’s now ruined business.

After tracing her steps, hugging her old fortune teller friend’s granddaughter, and pacing her way back home, she never thought she actually do it.

She had run away from her friends, just to confront her past.

After seeing Tails do it, she thought she might as well try.

She knocked on the doors.

The echo showed the truly hopeless state in which he was probably living.

She opened the door, “Hello?” she was grown now, the house looked smaller than she remembered.

Not hearing any servants and seeing the furniture all laid with white tarps, she figured he may have left or even died.

Mourning a bit as she walked around the old home, painful memories of a terrible childhood, forced with torturous training of both body and mind, she rubbed her arm to try and keep her brave.

She came to her room, seeing the childish toys and getting excited over long-lost doll friends being seen again at last.

Then the door slammed.

She turned around to see an elderly man, leaning on a cane, still covered in the same darkness from a pitch-black suit as he had always been.

“F…Father?” Amy stepped back, as the man drew closer, and raised a cane up.

“YOU…DARE COME BACK-!?” he threw his cane down as she rolled to dodge.

She gasped, seeing the bed break as he turned around, stumbling on his feet.

“I’m a… a…” she had rehearsed this meeting a thousand times in her head,… but somehow, she hoped it would be different.

She stood up tall, taking in a big, dusty breath and stomping her foot down, mimicking the day she ran away.

“I’m not a child anymore! I’m a hero now! I save lives, planets even! I fell in love and I made a future for myself! Are you still not proud of me?!” she knew the answer, “Because… Because I don’t care!” she started to cry, tearing up.

He growled, and raged a powerful cry as he ran to attack her.

She ran out of the room and ducked her head as he broke the railing of the upper stair case, and she had to quickly dash down the stairs as he chased her.

“You think I care about glory or fame!? I care about how you left me ruined! Penniless without a proper heir! I lost everything! Everything!”

“Even me?” She turned around, as he held his cane in the air but didn’t move.

“You lost me. Or was that only second to losing your company?!” she waited, moving from foot to foot…

He shook his head around rapidly, and slammed his cane down.

She flipped back, just like she remembered how to do, and then took her hammer and slammed it up at his face, knocking him down.

Her anger filled her, but her tears of sorrow at never having the family she originally longed for pained her spirit as she stepped back.

“No… this isn’t right.” she shook her head, “I’m not the monster you breed me to be.” She threw her hammer down and away from her, as his raging eyes caught it, and then turned back to her.

“I am… not your daughter. I’m mother’s daughter.” she stated with pride, and held her head up.

His eyes widened, seeing her mother in her…

“…You… You’re just as…” he was about to say something that could change everything, but shook himself out of it, “RAHH!! You’re just as small-visioned as your mother!!!”

She stepped aside, as he ran himself off the staircase.

“…I’m irresistible.. if you’d only had let yourself give in to your better nature.” she turned her head, but dared not look down into the darkness where he laid.

She walked over and picked her hammer up, before collapsing to her knees and crying profusely, covering her face as she did so.

As if on cue, a shadow loomed over her.

She looked up as a cane was raised high, but a spinning noise came and a blue blur knocked the cane out of his hand, having him reel back from the force.

“Ah! Sonic!”

Sonic unspun, and turned to the man, kicking him down by his legs and forcing him to fall on his face.

“Run.” Sonic looked seriously to her, as she nodded and got up, racing to the door.

The man looked up, glaring at Sonic, as he slowly turned, hearing the man’s words.

“She’s nothing without her past…”

Sonic slowly leaned over the man, before shoving his hand to his head, and leaning closer in.

“She’s everything without you.”

The man’s eyes widened, shaking in their rage and realization.

“…I know you’re kind.” Sonic’s eyes were covered in shadows, his voice deadly to the sound.

“And I’m surprised she even came back to try and make amends.”

He let go of his head, seeing the man wasn’t going to try anything, and walked to Amy.

Outside the door, Amy grew furious with Sonic.

“Why did you follow me!?”

“…” he just stared at her, and folded his arms.

“WHY!?”

“You were there with my mother. Now.. I’m here with your father.” (referencing an old prompt lol x)

She stepped back, deeply touched before running into his arms, crying.

“I don’t want to be like him! I don’t! I don’t!”

“…Then don’t.” Sonic let her cry, but didn’t hold her back.

This was a war she had to fight within herself, and he couldn’t interfere.

When they got back, the team wondered what was wrong with her for a while, but she stayed silent about it, merely saying, “I am the last Rose, but I will not fall.” And that was that.

Prompt:

After a boy claiming to be Sonic’s brother requires Sonic to return to see his ailing mother, Sonic goes silent and seems to be avoiding the world.

Not understanding his actions, Amy tries to persuade the team to keep the boy busy, though the boy is determined to bring Sonic to his mother, and then, to battle him for justice, but they don’t understand why.

“..Sonic?” Amy pushes a tree branch out of her way to look passed it and see Sonic sitting and letting out a heavy breath.

She slowly approaches him, as in the distance, she looks back to see the boy contending in shouts with Tails and Knuckles, and poor Tails struggling to keep Knuckles back from punching the young boy.

Amy puts her hands together, sliding one over the other in her nervousness.

She knows Sonic’s not one to talk about… emotional things… but this looks very important, and if his mother is dying…

She walks up to him, and waits to see if he’ll object.

After more silence, she finally slips a hand to tuck her dress under and sit down, making sure to be ladylike as she looks to him, seeing a very distant expression on his face.

“…Sonic,” she lightly reaches a hand to his arm. “What’s wrong?”

He remains silent, as his eyes roll as if without life to her hand, and then up to her face.

The dark sky breathes a gentle wind that stirs the sky, before Sonic finally looks up to the darkness, and begins to speak….

“Many years ago...”

Sonic is shown as a young boy, the other boy in his mother’s arms looks very similar to the boy shouting at Sonic’s friends in rage.

“My father left us. I suppose the reasons were to continue in his nomad lifestyle, and at first, we were taught to never be like our father…”

Sonic is sitting at a bedside, as his mother’s finger wags wildly in the air, before the hand slowly returns to her face and she cries.

Sonic lifts a hand up and touches her arm, his own way of comfort.

“However… it wasn’t the whole truth…”

“Don’t you dare go outside!” “But-!” “You leave me and I’ll die!” “M-Mom!”

His mother grips him at the doorway, clinging onto him for dear life it seemed.

“My mother was always concerned that we would grow up and leave her like our father did. As I got older… I started to realize that my father’s departure wasn’t the only reason she never wanted us to leave…. I started to realize that she probably imprisoned him just like she was doing to us. We were never permitted to explore, or go past the flowerbed, or even to use our abilities. Especially mine… because I could disappear in a blink of an eye.”

Amy’s expression was horror stricken, hearing these words… hearing the way they were delivered…

How cruel!

“I decided one day I had enough of her sheltering. I told my brother I wouldn’t stay another minute in that small cabin home, and would go out and make a life for myself…”

“M-mom was right! You’re turning into father!” 

“Haven’t you figured it out yet? Dad left because Mom was too clingy! She doesn’t even let us go to town! and she locks the door when she leaves! She’s sick, bro! And it’s about time this birdie left the nest!” he turns his back on his brother, speaking with all conviction over his shoulder.

 “You’ll… you’ll break her heart again.. just like father.” The little brother began to tear up, as Sonic turned his face quickly away, as if not going to allow anything to stop him.

“If that’s the case…” he closed his eyes….

Before opening them in complete resolve, “Then so be it.”

“Sonic!”

“SOOONNICC!” His mother fell within the muddy puddles of their outdoor, foresty lawn as his blue streak tore through the landscape as quickly as he could go.

“I had never felt such exhilarating freedom. For the first time, my legs could fully stretch. The world was greater, wider, more beautiful than any window could have shown me. I never regretted building that plane to leave that island for good. Nor did I ever look back…”

Sonic lifted his head to the wind, before ducking it back down.

“I can’t go back, Amy. Under any circumstances.” He rose up, as Amy felt her heart breaking under these circumstances.

“Sonic… you can’t just-!” She leaned up to try and reach him, but he gave her such a cold look that her hands froze in mid-action.

“I will never return.”

“… She’ll keep you there… won’t she?” Amy lowered her arms, finally seeing what made him so cruel in this situation, so silent to his brother, but realizing how this can’t be so.

“You have to go back.” she narrowed her eyes, “To at least explain to her-”

“There is no explanation. She wouldn’t understand. She’s lost the ability too. Trust me, Amy. People don’t change overnight.” Sonic shook his head, and turned away from her, folding his arms.

“D…Don’t you love your mother?!”

Sonic’s quills spiked up, showing how much rage he was controlling at that comment, before swiping the air as he turned back, his arms to his sides.

“Nothing you say or do will make me go back.”

“Sonic! What are you afraid of?!” Amy got up, gesturing her arms out. “You left once! You can do it again! She can’t guilt trip you to stay, but a simple goodbye wouldn’t-!”

That’s when she realized…

In his eyes…

Were the anger of sorrow.

“You… leaving was the hardest thing you’ve ever done.. because you did love her… didn’t you?” She stepped back, unable to fully express how much she was suddenly understanding.

His stare held new meaning. It wasn’t cruel. It was reality.

“I’m not going back.”

That was the last he said before taking off.

Amy walked back to her friends, unsure of how to relate all that Sonic had told her to them.

The brother clearly would never forgive, but she could tell that he was inexperienced in the world, and probably was even more sheltered by his mother than ever before after Sonic’s departure…

He called him all sorts of names, but Amy just tuned him out, and walked over to Tails and Knuckles.

Pulling forth every bit of courage in her being, she stated, “He’s not going.”

Tails and Knuckles seemed amazed, hearing of the condition of Sonic’s mother, they began to accuse him of the same things the brother had spoken of.

“No!” Amy shook her head, tearing up. “He’s not like that! Honest! He’s… he had to pave his own path… even if it broke his heart to do so… he had too, can’t you see that?!”

But they couldn’t, because everytime she tried to explain, a lump would form in her throat and keep the words tightly within.

Finally, Amy was convinced to bring Sonic to his brother…

In complete betrayal she relayed the message to him, and begged with every ounce of her being, pleading with him to just say goodbye to her.

With that trust he had with her severed, he boarded the plane…

Amy was the only one Sonic permitted to come into the rundown cabin home with him, along with the brother.

Just as Sonic had spoken… she awoke from the bed and gripped him in her weakened state.

“I knew you would come back…” her tears filled her eyes as Amy clenched her heart.

This woman… Amy couldn’t find it in her to hate her at all.

It was just a misfortune circumstance.

Sonic held her, I wouldn’t say lightly or tightly, but just held her in return.

“Now you’ll stay. You’ll stay to take care of me, won’t you my boy?” she stroked his quills, smiling as she spoke.

Sonic closed his eyes, remaining silent.

“You won’t leave me again. You won’t abandon me. You’ll stay. I know you’ll stay now. You have to stay now.” She then suddenly seemed to notice Amy, and gave her a less than welcoming look.

“Who’s this?”

“….My friend.” the first thing Sonic spoke, as he got up.

Immediately, his mother gripped his arm, it was almost reflex.

He paused, before allowing her to do so and turning to Amy. “Her name’s Amy Rose.” Sonic put a hand to his hip, trying to act casual about it.

“She’s not your wife, is she?” The words were almost hissed, as she glared to her son. “She’ll take you away. I know she will.”

That was when Amy could see it.

The hostile illness Sonic had spoken of.

It was suddenly all clear now…

How subtle it was at first… until now fully in the light.

Amy stepped back, and leaned her head down.

“I told you.” Sonic gently bent down, putting a hand to her weakened grip, appealing to her nature. “She’s just a friend.”

“…Friends.” she looked up at Amy. “I didn’t know you had friends.”

Such anger, such hatred…

She didn’t even know her!

But she just assumed anyone would take Sonic from it… so it seemed.

Suddenly, Amy gripped her arms, and walked back. “Excuse me.” she looked down at the ground and raced out.

Sonic watched her, slowly rising again.

“Oh my chaos! I’m just like her!” she reached up and gripped her head, swinging it wildly around. “Oh, Sonic! Sonic, I’m so sorry!” she started to cry, realizing that her actions mirrored much of Sonic’s mother…

No wonder he treated her the way he did… with such gentleness as he did his mother, but always keeping his distance…

“He must think I’ll become like her… That I’ll hold him to a forever prison that he can’t escape from! Without breaking another person he cares about’s heart all over again!” She fell to her knees, breaking down as Sonic walked to the front door.

“No!” The mother reached to hold her grip. “Stay! It’s dangerous out there!”

Sonic watched Amy in her meltdown, and gritted his teeth together.

“No.” He turned to his mother, for the first time, the same cold stare he had given Amy.

Her eyes widened.

“Never again.” he swiped his hand away from her.

His final goodbye.

He didn’t want to have to do this again.

He didn’t want to have to open old wounds again.

But Amy meant more than his past.

She was his future.

“Amy. Get up.” Sonic quickly dived down for her, as the brother began to chase them.

“You can’t leave us again! I won’t allow it!”

Sonic grabbed Amy and helped her to her feet, “Go! Get in the plane!” he called to her, almost in a slight order as he took on his brother, fighting him.

“What happened?!” Tails called down, seeing Amy climb up, confused.

“He said goodbye! That’s what!” Amy responded, wiping her tears as she entered.

Sonic sped up and got into the plane… but collapsed.

“Sonic!” Amy got up from her seat and ran to his, as the plane took off, and his brother lay defeated on the ground, reaching up for the plane, before becoming unconscious.

Amy felt Sonic’s shoulders bounce, and worried he was hurt, before turning him to see…

He was crying…

His eyes were shut so tight, she could have sworn they’d stay that way forever.

His body flinched with each sob, and she just slowly wrapped her arms around him, as if instinct, and held him close.

It wasn’t just his mother’s heart he broke that day… it was his own.

Sonic never had the ‘family’ feeling most normal households get.

To him, it was all a barrier to life’s true splendors, and Amy was determined to show him that friends could be family, and that she…

She was never going to be like his mother.
